COLORADO SPRINGS, Oct. 28 (UPI) — Police in Colorado said a man panicked when his Craigslist date showed up while his girlfriend was home and called 911, claiming she was a burglar.
Colorado Springs police said Keith Gaylor, 24, arranged on Craigslist for a woman to visit his home and he panicked when his girlfriend came home unexpectedly and the “other woman” started to knock on the door about 3 a.m. Wednesday, The (Colorado Springs) Gazette reported Thursday.
Gaylor called 911 and reported a woman with a gun was attempting to break down his door, police said.
Five officers arrived and quickly took the woman into custody, but she was soon released when police were apprised of the facts, investigators said.
“When they started listening to the story, they said there’s more to the story than meets the eye,” police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said.
Gaylor was issued a summons for misdemeanor false reporting to authorities.
