Gays In Military Seek More Reform

It has been just five weeks since the military effectively ended its ban on gay and lesbian service members. Now a group of homosexual service members and veterans are filing suit to challenge the Constitutionality of the Federal ban on gay marriage.

On Thursday, the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) filed suit at a Boston district court challenging the Constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), as well as laws precluding the military from providing same-sex married couples with the same benefits and family support as their straight, married peers.

“This case is about one thing, plain and simple. It’s about justice for gay and lesbian service members and their families in our armed forces rendering the same military service, making the same sacrifices, and taking the same risks to keep our nation secure at home and abroad,” said Army Veteran and SLDN Executive Director Aubrey Sarvis. “These couples are in long term, committed, and legally recognized marriages and the military should not be forced to turn its back on them because the federal government refuses to recognize their families.”

    To all the Christians posting on this thread; who claim to represent a loving God, who came in the flesh to offer himself as a sacrifice for us all, who commanded us to love our enemies, and who commanded us to treat everyone with respect, why are you doing the opposite of that which was commanded? If you do not approve of the lifestyle, then simply say so, and if it all possible, do so without menacingly swinging your machetes in the air, as such behaviour will make you appear as nothing more then raving lunatics, and not, children of God!

    There are a couple of defining principles at play here.
    The first is that biologically it is impossible for any homosexual relationship to produce offspring, which is the total reason for human copulation. Every act of homosexuality whether between humans or in nature is biologically recognized as an aberration, and within nature animals who practice homosexuality simply die out because they cannot reproduce themselves. Natural selection, pure and simple.
    The second principle is more sinister. It is a sad fact that homosexual humans have indeed suffered repression historically, which I believe to be nothing more than the human representation of the practice of natural selection, (that does NOT mean I personally condone violence toward gays). The simple truth is that as homosexuals have gained prominence in their political and social rage against heterosexual people, they have in fact become far more militant, bigoted and derogatory toward all who dare to criticize them, such that nobody in public life will dare speak openly to challenge anything the homosexual lobby demand whether right or wrong, they simply bow to all demands so they can be seen to be doing the politically correct thing. It appears homosexuals can physically attack, harass, hinder and confront any person they think doesn’t agree with them, and the law defines it as ‘simply reacting to many years of oppression’, rather than recognizing it for what it is, acts of violence that are socially fueled. Many on these pages either oppose or defend the protesters of the OWS movement where a similar sort of social rage is evident, but these protesters are feeling the full force of the law in many cases. I put it to you all that if it was a homosexual protest this would simply not happen for fear of the police or the government being labelled ‘violent toward gays’.
    This open approval and indeed promotion of homosexuality as ‘normal’ is unfortunately where many of the ancient civilizations failed. It was not the only reason their empires failed, but sexual licentiousness was a major factor in their downfall.

        There are no references to accepting homosexual lifestyles in the Bible because those who wrote it either didn’t know much about it or didn’t accept it them self. That is true about any book ever written by anybody. The author or authors gets their views and only their views printed. There are also a few Books of the Bible that were left out and never printed. .

        Eddie, if you would like to read the books that were ‘never printed’, they are called ‘The Apocrypha’ and are readily available in any good Christian bookstore. Or say hi to your nearest Catholic, they include all those books in their Bible.
        I’m not a Catholic, but I remember reading the extra books as a child because my father bought a set.

However, they went and made a big deal about him being gay. That is what dishonored him and the message being sent home. They should have said a soldier died and not a gay one. Why does his unnatural perverted lifestyle have to move to center stage? Since they make such a big deal about his queer lifestyle, they dishonor him, his family, his unit, the country, the army as a whole, and every single person that died for this country before him.     This is an issue that I knew would weasel its way out of the “penalty box”. Being it as it may, I unfortunately know that at one point or another, in the not so distant future, there is going to be a violent incident take place amongst the ranks and the proud flaunting gays will be on the receiving end. Anyone with at least a lick of sense should know this will occur. Even more so, this is exactly what they want to happen so they will then have more “legal ammo” to use in the courts. In the end it will become more of a cancer on our military than the idiots in Washington are willing to admit. They don’t know? Of course they know!! Do they care? Obviously not!! Stand back folks, the rough water is heading towards us faster than we see.

    Too much reform in all branches of the military regarding Gay’s serving has been allowed IMHO. Our founding fathers NEVER allowed for such service and it should have never been allowed. That said, we are now facing a real problem given that the original intent of our founding documents has been thwarted to a very great degree in this area, we need to slowly correct those errors. This could be accomplished be having a moratorium on enlistment of gay’s into military service or civil service and to honor those that are or have previously served in accordance with that service. Eventually this weeding out of gays in the military will solve the current problems with that service while still honoring those that have served to the extent of such service. I am sure that many gay people will strongly disagree with this suggestion but it provides for a compromise that both solves the perceived existing problem and honors gays that have served adequately.

      What is the “perceived existing problem”? The founding fathers never talked about gays in the military. The government wrongly stepped in to ban gay service members in violation of the founding fathers’ principles. DADT was then imposed as a compromise but was just a temporary solution. The flaws of DADT quickly were evident. The fact a 25 year service member could be discharged because it was learned he or she had a same sex partner art home was clearly wrong and in violation of what the founding fathers intended.

        March 14, 1778 – “At a general courts martial whereof Colonel Tupper was president (10 March 1778) Lt. Enslin of Colonel Malcom’s regiment was tried for attempting to commit sodomy, with John Monhort a soldier; Secondly, for perjury in swearing to false accounts. He was found guilty of the charges exhibited against him. Being breaches of the 5th. Article 18. Section of the Articles of War and do sentence him to be dismissed from the service with infamy. His excellency, the Commander and Chief approves the sentence and with abhorrence and destestation of such infamous crimes orders Lt.         You seem to be wrong on this account as Washington was a founder. Neeeeed to get your facts straight before you post.

        So I have to ask you, would you eat at Red Lobster? The reason I ask is that you are forbidden by Leviticus 11:10 from eating shellfish. Would you risk eating a steak cooked at Red Lobster, knowing it may have brushed against an unholy shrimp or do you just avoid that restaurant altogether? I’m curious, do you send your wife away for seven days or do you just avoid touching her during the daytime as instructed by Leviticus 15:19? Third, let’s look at the misinterpretations of the Bible that you have posted. Leviticus 15:19 states that when a woman is on her monthly, she shall not have sex with anyone. If someone does have sex with her, then he too is unclean in body and spirit. If a man does do these things with her during said time, he is to wash his clothes and bathe and will be considered unclean till her time passes. Leviticus 19:27 states about a man shaving and cutting his hair. To mar the corners of your beard would mean to have some faddish style, same with the hair cutting. Also, it is either two doves or two turles. One for a sin offering and one as a burned offering to God. Sorry dude, but since Jesus was born, we no longer have to have a sacrifice for Jesus sacrificed himself for all our sins. Remember also that the Old Testiment dealt with the Jewish diet, dress, and grooming, but we Christians are not subject to such matters. BTW, it never specifically said shellfish. I couldn’t find the word shellfish anywhere in Leviticus. Neeeeed to take your less intelligent atheist backside and go home till you grow up and learn before you post. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

    We’re witnessing a cultural implosion. What happened to ancient Greece and Old Rome is happening here. Gays in the military are discovering that they have no chance to get what they want without appealing to politicians. In effect, gays represent a special interest group that is dependent on SOBs whose sole ability makes life worse.
    I’m not offering any potential solutions, folks. I am, however, saying that this does make a case for the idea that politicians are more trouble than they’re worth. Politicians are akin to relatives that you can’t stand to be around.
    You can pick and choose your friends, but you’re screwed when it comes to ‘those relatives who drive you crazy.’ I think it’s almost time for societies to collapse so we can start all over again. Gays, “welcome to the club.” O, for a system that makes it impossible for a politician to exist. What a world.

As long as we have laws for this group, laws for that group, we will have a mess. Our laws should be for EVERYONE, period.

If they attack someone because of religious beliefs or being heterosexual, they are not given an extra hate crime charge. If a heterosexual attacks someone for being gay, they get the hate crime charge added onto their sentence. Why should the gays serve 5 – 10 years less? Marry and be equal?         The laws on marraige are equal. Any unmarried man may marry any unmarried woman. Marraige has been between a man and a woman since the beginning of time. A man and a man is not marraige. A woman and a woman is not marraige. If a man and man gets special priveledges then living together couples will have to be given special privledges. Any other type of sexual combination will have to be given special privledges. If you compromise marraige in anyway, changing it’s definition, then consistency requires every sexual relationshiop to be acknowledges. We definitely don’t want to go there.

    I suppose that technically, they have a case. If, same-sex marriage is legally recognized, should then the benefits be withheld? It makes no sense issuing someone licence to drive, only to deny them the privileges, and the rights that are afforded with said licence! Some may argue, and point out the issue of morality with same-sex union, but that is a separate issue. The issue here, is the fact that they are legally recognized, therefore, they should be entitled to the benefits!

      The relationship is recognized in the military. I did not see anywhere where it said that the gay marriages were recognized. Now I know some states do recognize such arrangements and allow for it. Some have legalized it, then withdrew. Others withdrew and then legalized it. Some states are still waffling with courts, ballots, and so forth in on ongoing circus act over the issue. However, no where do I recall that has yet been mandated on a federal level except that we have a defense of marriage act that actually stands against gay marriage on the federal level, a law that our current administration has told us that they will no longer defend–selectively upholding and defending the law (not that I am surprised that they are doing so).

      So when I read this, I see this as what I knew was going to happen when DADT was repealed. They were going to use at as leverage to force the issue of gay marriage. Since they are struggling to win in many states, they will take this argument to the federal level to usurp the autonomy of the states on the matter. They will sacrifice our balance of power (not that it isn’t already skewed towards the federal government) to satisfy their goals. And I don’t think they’ll stop there. I happen to believe that since marriage is quite a religious institution that they will seek to force gay marriage into the churches as well, dictating that government mandate the churches on the matter–and thus sacrificing the supposed separation of church and state upon the alter of “equality”. Of course, that is already started with the government moving towards this end. How long until government starts telling churches what to preach over their pulpits? How long until government decides that government can decide what “god” wants the people to learn? That government acts as if it is “god”?

      As for myself, I believe in God. And as we move to replace God’s law with the laws of men, I believe we will destroy ourselves and our nation. There were men of wisdom and learning in years long forgotten that may have not believed in the same God I believe in, yet they were able to reason that there was Natural Law to the world, which coincidentally is the basic foundation of the Ten Commandments as well as Christ’s Law as given in His sermons. And they reasoned that many of the nations of the past (for there were nations that rose and fell before their time) rose and fell according to their compliance with this Natural Law.

        If you think the feds aren’t already knee-deep in trying to control church, think again. Chaplains in the armed forces have been reprimanded, demoted & outright threatened if they don’t stop praying in the name of Jesus. My husband (a minister of the Gospel) has been told that if he preaches publicly against homosexuality that it is a “hate-crime”, and he can be prosecuted. It isn’t so widely known NOW, but this interference in worship is gaining steam.

        There may not be a state religion, but by the way God is mentioned in every state Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and how Jesus and references back to the Declaration of Independence are embedded in our Constitution, it is hard for you to keep a lie like that going, isn’t it you wacko?

        It’s a sick thought against nature and if the whole world believed that and did that, people who think like you would soon be gone and that is the only good thought about that! That sick Union puts children in danger since they will be taught that men with men is normal and women with women is normal and men with women and women with men is abnormal. And it’s even worst to let those same sex couples get a baby because a babies mind is a blank slate when born and they learn what they are taught! These sick people want to force everyone to have to believe and agree that their sick thoughts are right and normal even though they are not. If they were willing to keep their sickness just among themselves and in private instead of parading it around in public trying to force their sickness on everyone else! We have more than enough S T D’s in this world from normal couples and don’t need the same sex added to the mix!
