SEATTLE, Oct. 14 (UPI) — Self-appointed Seattle “superhero” Phoenix Jones, who revealed his real name this week, vowed to continue patrolling the streets despite his recent arrest.
Jones, who was arrested on suspicion of assault early Sunday for using pepper spray on a group of revelers, is really Ben Fodor, 23.
“I am also Ben Fodor,” he said in a Seattle Times report Friday. “I also am a father. I also am a brother. I’m just like everyone else. The only difference is that I decided to make a difference and stop crime in my neighborhood and my area.”
Fodor said he did nothing wrong and was using the pepper spray to break up a fight. Prosecutors said they are interviewing witnesses and will review surveillance footage of the incident before deciding whether to press charges.
Fodor pledged to continue patrolling the streets of Seattle as Phoenix Jones.
“I have to look toward the future and see what I can do to help the city,” he said.
