Kroger Announces Ice Cream Recall

CINCINNATI, Oct. 13 (UPI) — Kroger Co. Thursday recalled containers of ice cream sold in its stores in 10 U.S. states that may contain peanuts not listed on the label.
Kroger stores in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, portions of eastern Missouri, Ohio and northern Kentucky, South Carolina, and eastern Tennessee are involved in the recall of Private Selection Extreme Moose Tracks Ice Cream, a company release said Wednesday.
Kroger stores in Illinois and Indiana that operate under the names Jay C, Food 4 Less, Owen’s, Pay Less and Scott’s are also involved, the company said.
The recall covers Private Selection Extreme Moose Tracks Ice Cream sold in 16-ounce pints with a “sell by” date of June 18, 2012, under UPC 11110 52909.
People allergic to peanuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product, Kroger said.
