Cain, Romney Lead In Recent Polls

Two recent polls show former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney ahead of other candidates but neck and neck with one another when it comes to preference among likely 2012 GOP primary voters.

In Virginia, the Quinnipiac University Poll that was released Tuesday shows Cain and Romney sharing first choice among voters with 21 percent favorability each. They are followed by Texas Governor Rick Perry who only 11 percent of those polled said they would vote for, less than half than in the same poll a month ago.

“Herman Cain is moving up the ladder at breakneck speed. His 21 percent share of the GOP primary vote is more than three times the 6 percent he received when Quinnipiac University surveyed Virginians September 15,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling institute in a press release.

Of the other candidates Representative Ron Paul got 9 percent, Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich had 7 percent each, former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania had 2 percent and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman had 1 percent of the total votes cast.

In a poll released Monday by the American Research Group, Inc., on the 2012 primary outlook in South Carolina, Cain led Romney’s 25 percent by just 1 percentage point. In third place, Perry received 25 percent of votes cast followed by 12 percent for undecided voters, 8 percent for Gingrich, 7 percent for Paul and 1 or no percentage points for the other candidates.

    If we can’t have Sarah Palin or Chris Christie, then the next best Conservative Voice is Herman Cain. Romney sure isn’t (the very definition of a RINO).
    True, he does come up short when it comes to foreign policy, but it’s not like the President works in a vacuum. And right now, the economy and the direction in which our country is being driven trumps that.
    Oh, by the way, PC Racism will no longer be a factor (both he and Obama! are black).

    What’s illogical is that so many GOPers would prefer the RINO Mitt-nitwit Romney. Mitt-nitwit defends Romneycare. He seems to side with the environmentalist wackos, and now even some of the LGBT agenda?? The more we read about this moronic RINO, the more I say he needs to be defeated in the 2012 primaries. Mitt-nitwit may be a better campaigner than John McCain. But IMHO McCain would’ve been a better POTUS, and actually appears conservative when compared to RINO Romney. The real problem may be if Romney is elected as our next POTUS. Proving to be not much better than BHO, this will hurt the GOP in 2014, 2016 and perhaps for more election cycles after. Don’t forget that a large % of American voters are stupid, and will put the democraps back in power, oblivious to the fact that electing democraps only makes bad situations worse.

    I was disappointed that Sarah Palin decided not to run in 2012. But now I think maybe that’s a good thing, as it leaves us with 2 good choices – Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann. Perhaps with fewer true solid conservatives, these candidates will get more primary votes, and more RINOs will split the votes among mushy republicans. Likewise, maybe it would’ve been better if Chris Christie (or Krispy Kreme as Mark Levin says) entered the race. Krispy Kreme could’ve siphoned many primary votes from RINO Nitwit Romney perhaps giving Cain the nomination, As I said, we have 2 good choices. Get out there and vote in the GOP primaries. Don’t squander your votes on RINOs. Think: HERMAN CAIN / MICHELLE BACHMANN in 2012!!!!!

      Herman Cain has stated his favorite Fed Chairman is Alan Greenspan. Greenspan has said that US only need an income tax to control us. We don’t need taxes, we can just print money. Does this sound like a true Conservative?

      Cain has also called anyone who wants to audit the Fed, ignorant. He then lied and said he never said it even though there is audio/video on the web showing him saying it.

      Originally I like Herman Cain. I like his straight shooting talking style and I respect his business success, but he isn’t someone I can trust. Vote Ron Paul who always stands on principle and has voted consistently for 30+ years.

      Michelle Bachman lost my respect when she voted to extend the Patriot Act which negates the 4th amendment of the Constitution. I want someone who will ALWAYS obey the constitution. Never compromise principles!

    I have nothing against Ron Paul however the media does.
    I don’t know that if Ron will be able to gain enough support due to the media bias this may only leave us with two choices Rommney and Cain.. I perfer Cain anyday above an established politician to the likes of Rommney.

      I would vote for Ron Paul but stop blaming the media for how he is fairing.The Republicans have their favorites and they are pushing others up front whether Romney or Cain. The media doesn’t have the time or money to chase after more than the 2 or 3 front runners.They (Republicans should have made an issue of that at the debates). So you’ll have to take up that problem with the Republican Party.

    While I support Rep. Pauls, often brilliant, fiscal policies, and believe that he would be able to turn around our economy and reduce our unemployment, I have a serious problem with his stated foreign policy!
    A,once again, prosperous America would become an even juicier target for countries like Iran and North Korea. Dr. Pauls isolationist policies would render us unable to proactively stop any aggression. Short action by us, they will, likely, both have Nuclear capabilities. I’d prefer to prevent that if possible and save many American lives! Many believe that our isolationist policies of the ’20s’ & ’30′s allowed WW ll!

      Ted, I really wish people would THINK two or three times before using ‘isolationist’ in a sentence. That word is a favorite of utopians and other mental defectives. It is a pc term. It is used to marginalize people, so they wall fall into line and NOT think.
      As for ‘many people think’ whatever got us into WWII, SCREW them. If we had REAL leaders who made their decisions based on the Constitution (that piece of paper that retards love to hate), we wouldn’t be spread all over the world acting like a bad cop or a braindead, plastic soldier.
      If FDR wasn’t a suck-up to communists and various other stooges of hostile, foreign governments, we might have had more time to get ready for what HE KNEW was coming. Both Wilson and FDR parroted the idea that they’d never send ‘our boys’ to ‘those’ foreign wars. Wilson and FDR were scum. Historical revisionists can’t change that FACT.

      Concerning Ron Paul’s foreign policy and Iran:

      Foreign Policy

      It is really Paul’s position on foreign policy that incenses his critics to no end. As everyone knows, Ron Paul staunchly opposes what he refers to as “militarism,” a doctrine — sometimes euphemistically described by its apologists as “American Exceptionalism” — that calls for America to essentially “police” the globe against “human rights” violators or, what amounts to the same thing, the enemies of “democracy.” Since this enterprise has, within the last decade, been prosecuted in the name of combating Islamic terror, it is principally Paul’s objections against the assumptions, implications, and tactics of “the War on Terror” that have earned him both the contempt and fear of his competitors.

      To begin with, Paul emphatically rejects the proposition — treated as an axiom by the Republican Party — that Muslims hate us because of our liberties and freedoms. Rather, it is a hyper-aggressive American foreign policy, he insists, with its occupation of and sanctions and wars against Islamic lands, that accounts for the rage that culminated in the attacks of 9/11.

      For this position, Rick Santorum and legions of other representatives of the GOP establishment have blasted Paul for “blaming America” for the attacks. There are, though, at a minimum, three fatal problems with their approach.

      First, an understanding of an agent’s action need not involve praise or blame. Descriptive statements are distinct from prescriptive statements: Just because something is such and such a way doesn’t necessarily mean that it ought to be that way, and just because one thinks that such and such is this way doesn’t mean that he either approves or disapproves of it. In our daily lives, most of us have no difficulty grasping this simple conceptual distinction between, on the one hand, explanation, and, on the other, justification. For some reason, a little elementary logic of this kind manages to elude Paul’s Republican rivals when it comes to his stance on the motivations informing those Muslims who want us dead.

      Second, from Osama bin Laden to the 9/11 commission, from former CIA agents who spent decades in the Middle East to political science professor Robert Pape who, to date, has conducted the most extensive research into the reasons underlying Islamic terror, there is no short supply of authoritative sources from which Paul can readily draw in substantiating his position on the 9/11 attacks.

      Finally, let us say for argument’s sake that Paul did intend to blame the U.S. government for inviting the 9/11 attacks. That the government is not equivalent to the United States should be obvious to any and every lover of liberty. If, by ascribing blame to the government, Paul can be said to be ascribing blame to America, then whenever any other Republican holds the government accountable for objectionable policies or outcomes — something that occurs incessantly — they too must be held to be “blaming” America.

      As it stands, Republicans do themselves no service in conflating the federal government with the country itself. In hurling this bogus charge against Paul, they only contribute further to the growing perception among both the base of their party as well as independents that all of their talk of “limited government” and the like is just that: talk.

      Iran

      Paul has also taken considerable heat for failing to react with the same hysteria that the public has come to expect from Republicans when the subject of a nuclear-armed Iran arises. Now, few of us, including Paul, no doubt, want for Iran to be armed, and few of us, including Paul, support the Iranian regime. Yet none of this is in the least bit relevant to the question regarding how America should proceed in preventing a determined Iran from acquiring nuclear weaponry.

      Paul recognizes that such preventive efforts must consist of actions that can only result in death and destruction: Whether America imposes sanctions or engages in military action of one kind or another, innocent Iranian (and possibly American) lives will be extinguished by our attempt to keep Iran from obtaining nuclear energy. He also recognizes that our military, already stretched to the snapping point, simply cannot afford (by any conceivable measure) to involve itself in but another “foreign entanglement,” especially in the Islamic world.

      But if, as his Republican nemeses hold, Paul’s perspective on this matter is so unacceptable, then how is their view any better? On the one hand, the prospect of a nuclear armed Iran is one that they resolutely refuse to entertain: It is imperative that we prevent this state of affairs from materializing, they swear. However, on the other hand, not only have we long known that Iran was pursuing nuclear power, it began to expedite its pursuit during the Bush administration.

      And yet, to date, no action has been taken to deter it. Moreover, no concrete action to impede its efforts has even been seriously proposed.

    The GOP is making a big mistake if they ignore Ron Paul because he WILL get a ton of write-in votes from BOTH Republicans who don’t want a flip-flopper like Mitt Romney AND from disenchanted democrats and independents who want to bring our troops home, shrink the size of the federal government, and return some of our stolen liberties. The GOP will lose the election worse than they did with McCain if they put Mitt Romney up there.

    We now have two good conservative choices, Mr. Cain and Mr. Paul, and a reasonable Centerist choice in Romney. The Religious Right is in the processes of shutting off its voice as did the “Moral Majority”, by espousing biggoted ideas about candidates religious backgrounds. If I had doubts about Mr. Perry before, after allowing the slander about the Mormons (which is as viscerally disgusting as Reverand Whites blasting of America), I do not believe Mr. Perry has the qualities we want in a President. We don’t need more leadership by divisiveness, whether class or religion.

I’m a 63 year old baby boomer military brat independent, who has been waiting for a constitutional conservative like Dr. Ron Paul for many,many years. Regardless of your polls, come voting time, true American patriots, many young college students, military personnel, anti-war people, anti-drug war people and sound money people will come out of the woodwork for Ron Paul. Please keep disregarding him. It’s making him stronger by the day. The gop better realize they will never win without his voting bloc. RON PAUL 2012

      Does your state allow you to vote in the primaries as an independent? If not, then you need to register asap as a Republican …in order to make sure Ron Paul wins the primary. Remember, if he doesn’t win the primaries…he doesn’t run against the O’bamanation in office and our nation is doomed.Thanks for your suppot of Ron Paul!

    I do not know what to think of the polls anymore. I am beginning to believe they are all fabrications. At the moment, the good thing about Cain is he is not a politician. I don’t know if another black man is good prospect, but if he really means what he says, that would change my mind in a heartbeat. My first choice would be Ron Paul, but he is a politician, but a good one. He will however not get the nomination, and if he does he will lose the ticket, because he is stead fast in his beliefs and is too conservative for most. The other candidates are just more of the same ole BS.

    I do believe if we started to elect more non-politicians,and no attornies, we would actually be able to move forward. We also need people in office that will help to reduce the government by at least 50%, and who are not afraid of big labor.

      Cain may not be a “politician” but he is linked to politics through his past relationship with the Fed. And he has pretty much said he doesn’t think there is a problem with the Fed. And his 9-9-9 proposal is not what the people need. This may simplify the federal income tax but what about all the other taxes. It will just add a federal sales tax on everything (including food and medicine) on top of the state income taxes (for those states that have one) and also on top of the state sales taxes (again for those with one). And don’t forget the town property taxes (home, auto, etc.). We may have a reduced federal income tax but that will just be replaced with other taxes. And who believes that the government will keep the income tax at 9%? Ron Paul is my choice all the way. Whether or not people think he is “electable” is beyond the point. Too many people believe in Ron Paul but will not vote for him because they want to vote for a “winner.” (Obama was a “winner” and look at what happened!) Ron Paul will be a winner if everyone who believes he is the best choice goes ahead and votes for him and does not follow all the other sheeple. I for one do not believe any of the polls. One day they say one person is ahead, the next day they’re rooting for the next guy. At one point Ron Paul was in the lead but none of the news reports told that. Ron Paul information is basically kept out of the news except on selected websites. And he’s ignored in the debates because the moderators don’t want to hear (or promote) what he has to say. Don’t believe the polls and news reports. Ron Paul is doing better than anyone is letting on even without the support of the news!

        You’re right, Caroline, the 999 plan would just be a Trojan Horse. And Cain is every bit as much a politician as the rest. He knows exactly how to pull the wool over the eyes of the establishment Republicans. Once that tax plan was introduced the Leaders would have one more way to extract taxes from the citizens. Every tax they have is all about enriching themselves at the expense of the rest of us. Imagine if they just lumped all those taxes together and people could see just how much they are paying. They would change things in a hurry. The Politicians know that, thus the various hidden taxes.

      L in P.. You’ve got to be kidding old son! It’s bad enough that we have to depend upon politicians to over-see us, but a “politically” inexperienced b’ness exec.? If this guy becomes our new whipping post then I will be convinced that the American voter has indeed lost their collective minds.
      There is a plus in all this however.. I can see it now, (1) buy my pizza.. (2) pledge your vote.. (3) 2nd pizza free..
      It would be like hiring a recent high school graduate to run social security.. In Cain’s case, it would be like the deaf (house, senate, advisers and even his own party) leading the blind and we the people will be stuck in the middle and what he CAN see beyond those blinders will be focused on.. you guessed it, his big b’ness corporate cohorts. As for as all the other contenders, I say if ANY of them end up challenging Obama, then we’re gonna have four more years of a record four year loser. Of ALL of them, Ron Paul seems the most logical but according to every poll I’ve read, NOBODY wants to deal with logic in this coming election.
