Zogby: Cain Favorite Among Voters

A new Zogby poll shows Herman Cain leading the pack of GOP contenders by 20 percent and also besting President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup.

The poll, which was conducted from Oct. 3-5, found that 38 percent of Republicans would vote for Cain if the primary had been held at the time of the poll. Favor with the candidate has nearly doubled since the same question was asked of potential voters back in June when only 15 percent said they would vote for Cain.

The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO is followed in the poll by Mitt Romney’s 18 percent and a tie for for third between Rick Perry and Ron Paul at 12 percent. All other candidates only garnered single digits among those polled.

When asked who they would vote for given the choice between Obama and a specific GOP candidate, Cain was the only one to beat the President. Of those polled, more than half believe that Obama is doing a poor job and nearly three-quarters said the country is headed in the wrong direction.

The poll gave Congress an overall approval rating of 12 percent.

The poll surveyed 1,581 voters online, with a margin for error of about 2.5 percentage points.

    You got to ask yourself before voting, “What’s in it for me ?” or “What do you have to offer (me) ?”. Selfishness, it’s what made America great !!!!

    So Mr. Cain, am I going to get any free pizza on election day ? I hear Mr. Obama is going to have enough campaign money to give us a BUFFET ! Held at all the Democratic Headquarters – nationwide ! Right ? That pizza better be Supreme !! with real cheese !

    At least Cain isn’t a shuck-and-jive turkey like the twit in the White House. After almost three years, you’re still not ready to admit that Obummer can’t carry on an intelligent conversation without a frickin’ teleprompter?
    Cain understands business (Obummer will NEVER understand JOBS or BUSINESS).     I am rooting for Herman Cain. Even before the Florida Straw Pole, I was telling friends that I was impressed with this candidate. I checked out his web site, saw his straight forward answers to questions, his reason for entering the race to be elected as president, and his clear statement to fix the economy with “9,9,9″.
    And best of all, he is not a lawyer!

      I’m with you on that one Christie, now that Sarah’s out (oh well, she’s still young). I’m tired of lawyer turned politicians too, which most democrats are. Why the heck do you think they left anything about tort reforms out of Obamacare? They like raking in those millions in lawyer fees. Cain is a much better choice than Romney or Perry. He’ll get my vote in the caucus.
