Reward upped for fugitive with 96 aliases

Gang member Ernesto Alonso Garcia Gomez is listed among the Top 10 most wanted fugitives in Texas for allegedly killing a man and drug trafficking, the Houston Chronicle reported Tuesday.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Monday that it will offer $12,500 for information leading to the arrest of Garcia.
Most of the aliases Garcia uses are variations on his name, a popular trend along the Texas-Mexico border where people commonly go by two first names and two last names, police said.
"He has probably been arrested under several different names," said Sgt. John Parrish, spokesman for the Harlingen Police Department. "How they pick these names, I couldn't tell you."
Garcia has also used the name Gallito, which means "little rooster" in Spanish, and the name "Garcia" is tattooed on his back.
"There are so many ways someone can get an alias," said Alfredo Perez, spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service in Houston. "But fingerprints always tell the truth."
