Mounties come under fire in Saskatchewan

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers dispatched to the Red Earth Nation reserve in Saskatchewan came across a small group of people walking along the street shortly before 1:30 a.m., the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
"As the members approached, the members were shot at," RCMP Cpl. Rob King told the CBC. "Their front windshield was shattered."
The officers retreated and called for backup. A resident of the reserve told the Canadian broadcaster he saw a line of nearly a dozen RCMP vehicles arrive in the community during the morning.
The number of shots fired had not been determined.
"Right now it's an ongoing investigation; an ongoing situation," King said. "Police are on scene."
Reserve resident Darren Head said people in the community said shots also had been fired at the elementary school and a home.
"What we've heard right now is there are five youths who are barricaded themselves in one of the homes," he said.
Last Friday, violence was reported against police and healthcare workers in La Loche, Saskatchewan, the CBC said.
