Who Is The True Conservative And Other Stupid Questions

October 3, 2011 by

Who Is The True Conservative And Other Stupid Questions

Herman Cain, GOP Presidential candidate and former chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve, is tired of “stupid questions” about the Federal Reserve. He says so in his new book, This Is Herman Cain, according to The Daily Caller.

“I get the same stupid question at almost every one of these events,” Cain writes. “I know it’s a deliberate strategy. How can a person randomly show up at a hundred events and ask the same stupid question to try and nail me on the Federal Reserve? It’s really becoming annoying more than anything else.”

Displaying an astounding paranoia, Cain says supporters of Congressman Ron Paul of Texas are out to get him by accusing him of not wanting to audit the Fed.

“I have never said that,” Cain wrote. “I have said: ‘I don’t think you’re going to find anything to audit on the Federal Reserve.’ But they want you to believe that Herman Cain doesn’t want the Federal Reserve to be audited.”

Except that Cain did say that and it is on the record here. According to Cain, there’s no need to audit the Federal Reserve because “all you have to do is call them up and ask” what you want to know and they’ll tell you.

That’s as nonsensical as calling up the Gotti family and asking for a monthly tally of successful mob hits and drug deliveries and expecting an answer, as evidenced by the prevaricating, hedging, backtracking and sleight-of-hand Paul gets when he quizzes Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke in Congressional hearings. Bernanke’s predecessor, Alan Greenspan, was even more famous for saying a lot but revealing nothing.

If Cain really believes that people can get the truth out of an organization as secretive as the Federal Reserve — which fights tooth and nail every disclosure request and for two years refused a Freedom of Information Act request to reveal which banks it bailed out with billions of United States dollars and has forever rejected calls for a Congressional audit — he’s too big of a fool to be President. The alternative to that is he’s a Federal Reserve stooge, which I believe to be the case.

On top of that, Cain’s claims in his book that he doesn’t think anything is to be found in a Fed audit is an example of the flip-flop demonstrated in this video.

And there are other questions Cain doesn’t want asked. Like what is his current stance on the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bailout — that he once defended so vehemently, going so far as to call those who opposed it “economic illiterates” — now that he sees that it not only had no positive effect on the economy, but was essentially a piggy bank for propping up President Barack Obama’s campaign donors, foreign banks and Bernanke’s and former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson’s Goldman Sachs bankster buddies?

But Cain isn’t alone in his quest to avoid the tough questions. Texas Governor Rick Perry doesn’t want any questions about all the State dollars he sent to his friends through cushy government jobs and appointments that were then funneled back into his campaign coffers — including those from Merck that led to his mandating all Texas school girls get Gardasil vaccines. Or about what he really wants to do with Social Security. Or about why he supports giving illegal aliens special benefits. He believes anyone who opposes special benefits for illegal aliens is “heartless,” or he did until he realized he had offended about 90 percent of his supporters.

And Newt Gingrich doesn’t want any questions at all, because they’re all “gotcha” questions. But he really doesn’t like those about his campaign or that point out his flips on global warming and cap and trade and the war on Libya or the fact that his third wife ran up a $100,000 tab at a jewelry store.

And Michele Bachmann doesn’t want any questions about her support for the USA PATRIOT Act, or exactly why she thinks Perry’s Gardasil mandate was inappropriate — because she doesn’t really understand it. And she certainly doesn’t want any questions that require her to think beyond a sixth grade level.

And Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum… well who’s even listening to what they say?

And Mitt Romney? He doesn’t want questions about Romneycare or his flips on abortion and gun rights or the way his company bought and carved up businesses for resale at the expense of the jobs of thousands of employees.

And the Republican apparatchik doesn’t want you asking any substantive questions at all — especially of Romney, whom they’ve picked as the their main man — preferring instead those like CNN’s John King asked at the GOP debate June 13: Coke or Pepsi? Deep dish or thin crust? iPhone or Blackberry? Elvis or Johnny Cash? “Dancing With the Stars” or “American Idol?” Spicy or mild?

It’s reminiscent of the question Bill Clinton got: boxers or briefs? This is the state of “Idiocracy” that political discourse has descended to. (If you don’t get the reference, rent the movie. It’s vile, but it’s frighteningly prescient.)

But the Party’s elites approved of one from CNN’s Wolf Blitzer to Paul about a hypothetical uninsured 30-year-old man in coma and whether he should receive care. That’s a question similar to asking a man when he stopped beating his wife. It sets up a premise that can’t be addressed in a 30-second sound bite and originates from a false and biased paradigm. (And no, it’s not true that “the whole crowd” shouted “yeah” in response to the question.)

Republican insiders — those same people who brought you Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush and John McCain — want to again pick your candidate. They have chosen for you another Bilderberg-approved moderate, soft on immigration, neocon, big-government faux conservative for you in Romney. And they selected another Bilderberg-approved challenger in globalist, crony capitalist, soft-on-immigration, one-worlder Perry, hoping for a two-man race between these two and knowing that Perry would eventually crash and burn, leaving the door open for Romney.

But so far, the electorate — those people who actually go to the polls and cast votes — is not cooperating, if polls are to be believed. It’s beginning to ask questions… questions some candidates don’t want to answer.

The electorate had already decided that Romney is not the answer, despite the claims by most pundits and the MSM that it’s going to take someone moderate to attract the independents. After all, the GOP’s nomination of a loved-by-the-press-and-independents moderate worked so well in the last election, why wouldn’t they want to try it again?

And the electorate is on to Perry’s crony capitalism and his stumbling and bumbling answers and insults at debates.

It’s begun to sour on Michele Bachmann, who once seemed attractive but is fading outside of Iowa. Now it’s looking to Cain, the Federal Reserve stooge, but the elites and power brokers aren’t interested in him. And if they see him as a threat, his pro-Fed, pro-bailout past will become MSM fodder.

If Christie’s The Answer, There Must Be A Different Question

That’s the headline on an American Spectator piece now that the elites are floating the idea of another faux conservative in Chris Christie, who’s either playing games with his public pronouncements of not running while behind the scenes dropping hints that he will, or is being prodded so hard by the elites that they know his “nos” really mean “yes.”

The pro-gun control, soft-on-immigration believer in man-made global warming, quintessential Northeast Republican New Jersey Governor is an intriguing character. The Internet is rife with sound bites of Christie excoriating liberal reporters, Democrat lawmakers and teacher’s union dimwits. Those videos have made him a hero to some on the right and in the Tea Party movement who are quick to jerk their knees in the direction of the latest elitist offering without a good vetting first.

So the elites, in an effort to regain control of the selection process, are pushing another moderate (read liberal) in conservative clothing out there to carry their water.

Now it’s time for you, the voter, to ask yourself a question: What do I want from my President? The elites will decide for you if you don’t decide for yourself.

Do you want a candidate who will shrink government, ensure our national defense, make our country safer, change the tax structure, protect life, end the Federal Reserve and return our government to its Constitutional boundaries? Do you want a candidate who has been steadfast in his positions for 30 years in the face of never-ending criticism and has never wavered in his allegiance to the Constitution? Do you want a candidate who can beat President Barack Obama in November 2012, as polls here and here show ?

There is one person in the race who is has not flipped his positions depending on the race he’s running, like Romney has. There’s one who never supported TARP and bailouts like Cain, Romney and Perry did. There is one who has always believed the Federal Reserve needs to be audited — unlike Cain, Perry and Gingrich who only recently took up this mantra when it became politically expedient. There is only one who believes that after an audit, the Fed must be eliminated. There is only one who has always voted for the Constitution and against growing government and increasing taxes — unlike Gingrich, Bachmann and Santorum. And there is only one who believes the U.S. needs to quit meddling in the affairs of other nations and get out of the United Nations.

There is only one true conservative in the race, and his name starts with Ron and ends with Paul.

To follow our election coverage right through November 2012, go to Election 2012. There you will find candidate biographies and news and videos on what they’re doing, what they’re saying and the latest on polls and campaign news.

The baggage with all these GOP candidates is they are all bigots. Herman Cain clams Blacks are stupid – cannot think for themselves; Perry is racists as to call Blacks the “N” word at his house stone; Romney church (Mormon) teaches that Blacks are curse humans and that us men should have at least two wives; Bachmann says Blacks are better off as slaves. Those were leading in the polls. They are all useless as GOP WH nominee. Don’t dare recruit Chris, his wife will sue you if he dies campaigning. I am asking Republicans to start all over.

      Dear Pastori Balele,

It has become apparent that charges of racism are all you have. Claiming racism in every disagreement is the refuge of the intellectually deficient. If that’s all you have to offer, please refrain from offering it here.

      Best wishes,

I am afraid there is no chance for a George Washington to enter the race. Why would anyone subject themselves to attacks from every side just because their agenda is not being served. As long as money drives the race money will always win The tea party is being hijacked by all kinds of people, because there is no one organization the tea party will belong to whoever has the money. Just look at what is happening to WE THE PEOPLE everyone is using that phase. Google it and see where you end up, chances are you will end up in Obamas website. Both WE THE PEOPLE AND THE TEA PARTY representation of positive change if not protected can become anything changes we don’t want

If the economy and Fed were our only problem, I’d be one of Paul’s biggest supporters, for on the economy, he is the man. But that is all he really has. He fails to understand the true nature of Islam and their ultimate goals, he is willing to allow Iran to have nuclear weapons, as well as other rogue states, who if they had them would pull the trigger on their use without hesitation. How many hundreds of thousands or millions of American have to die, before Paul and others like him will admit that maybe we shouldn’t have allowed these people to get nuclear weapons. This moronic stategy of allowing our enemies to attack and kill millions before we act is unacceptable, and a sure prescription for the destruction of this country. Does anyone, including Paul, believe we can withstand one major city in this country being attacked with a nuclear weapon, whether by ICBM or by suit-case nuke, where hundreds of thousands or more are killed and many times that are injured, and the blow to our economy it would deliver?!! Our non-existant border to the south could allow multiple suit-case nukes to come into the country. Again, if you don’t have a proper understanding of the driving force behind Iran and other radicalized Islamic states and enemies of the U.S. like Venezuela, North Korea, would certianly be willing to help Iran in their attack on our soil. No true conservative like the way Afghanistan and Iraq was handled. We are tired of “Kinetic Military Actions” or being the police force of the world. We are tired of being apart of an anti-American organization like the U.N., and tired of proping up tyrants to keep radicals in check. But we can’t allow our avowed enemies to get nuclear weapons, and you certainly can’t stick your chin out and let them make the first move with nuclear weapons… that is just plain stupid and suicidal! Think of it this way… are you willing to sacrifice your loved one’s in a nuclear attack so you claim we now know for sure what they intend to do. If we unleashed a full nuclear response, which I don’t think Paul has the sand to do, regardless of how bad we are attacked, will that ease your loss or make you feel better when you visit your loved ones or friends that was just outside the instant death area of the nuclear blast, but have been horribly burn and suffer from radiation sickness? This is the world we live in. Jefferson created the Marines to attack the Pirates based in Libya and northern Africa, but they didn’t declare war on the Pirates. Now I have no problem with issuing a declaration of war with Iran, if that makes everyone feel better about taking our our enemies. We also need to get out Israel’s way and let them protect themselves and do what they deem necessary to protect their citizen. WE need to quit sending money to our Islamic enemies!

If Paul had a more common sense understanding of the Islamic threat, I’d feel better about him, but I don’t think the man has a clue. And unfortunately, we can’t survive as a isolationist country any more.

    • dan

A million casualties mean nothing to the One world/NWO crowd…
American ,Iranian,Iraqi…the fact that they don’t make money or gain more power with the use of nukes explains why they haven’t been used….and they ARE calling the shots. I think that Ron sees through THAT charade and is the reason he wants to disentangle with the middle-east sand trap.

    • lonetrader

How are we preventing Iran from having a nuke? They are in the final stages as we speak or have it done already. The only reason Israel has not attacked Iran is because of our present President and his policies towards Israel. How is Iran going to deliver a nuke to the USA? If the world is so scared of Iran, we should declare war right now and blow them into the sky. We should kill every last one of them. That is how you win a war. While we are at it. let’s just blow up the whole middle east. They have been warring since the beginning of time and will never stop. There. An answer. You want war with Iran, nuke the whole middle east. Problem solved.

You live under a LOG??? Iran alread had missiles that will reach ALL OF EUROPE . . . and did I not read recently that Iranian ships will soon be off the coast of the USA?
You sound like dear old Neville Chaimberlain . . . didn’t pay attention to what the fascists were saying in the 30′s . . . the Izzzzlamo-fascists are talking today!!!! Pay attention . . . they mean what they are saying.

    • newspooner

Ron Paul fully understands the Islamic threat; and the communist threat (under whatever name or cover the Establishment cloaks it). Don’t let the naysayers and judasgoats lead you astray.

    • DaveH

“unfortunately, we can’t survive as a isolationist country any more”? Anymore? What? When has our country butted out of other countries’ business in the last 100 years?
Isolationism is a buzz word used by military statists and their Crony Capitalists in the Defense Industry to numb the citizens to reality.
Reality is that it’s better to have friendly nations that we trade freely with, than to have enemy nations who want to crush us, and will someday when we have foolishly spent our nation into the poor house. Every great Empire has fallen to similar foolish actions brought on by the hubris of power hungry leaders. “Excessive hubris goeth before the fall”.

  • The Resolute Voice

That’s real good – just hammer all the Republican candidates with rumors the liberal media sets up and convinces you to use, and you’ll certainly relect Obama in 2012. Perhaps this is the endgame here?

With liberal progressives, always be aware that their true goal for any policy is always hidden carefully behind what they claim it to be in public, i.e, Fast and Furious was really a ploy to use a crisis to get gun control; green jobs financing is a ploy to pay off top contributors with govt $$$, and Obamacare is a way to grab excessive political power and likely ration healthcare ( then all those older pesky moderate/conservative voters will die off sooner)

In the case of picking a Presidential candidate, they want to pit conservatives against each other to weaken Republican voting power and suggest anything they can about each of the Republican candidates that might or might not be true and then hammer it home to destroy their support. Wake up people! Read Alinsky and learn the tactics.

    • dan

Dind ding-ding…we have a winner. You must know your enemy. It’s also known as communist/Hegalian dialectics.Don’t let the conTROLed media
      define your positions or candidates.

    • DaveH

The problem is that most of the Republicans want Big Government as much as the Democrats. There are a few exceptions, such as Ron Paul and Gary Johnson, but only a few. We can vote for Obama-lite (most of the Republican Candidates), or we can vote for Freedom. I choose Freedom. United we stand.

  • R J

While I like many of the commentators here, I’m getting tired of the perpetual Ron Paul cheering section.
His stance on foriegn policy would precipitate a third world war. Just like the last two times we ‘left Europe to the Europeans’, or are you unaware of that history?
We have global economies tied to the US, and global treaties we cannot abandon, not matter that we don’t completly agree with them; or even like them.
Of the candidates we are looking at today, I prefer Michelle Bachman and Herman Cain. Mainly because they are NOT professional politicians. Like Ron Paul.

Comparing WW2 to a hypotehical WW3 scenario is totally comparing apples and oranges. You can’t do it. First of all, we are militarlistically superior to Iran unlike Germany being technologically superior to us and Britain / France in many ways in the days prior to WW2. (It took like 4 of our crappy Sherman tanks to be able to effectively take on a Germany Panzar tank). Our policing of the middle east is just a giant boondoggle that is swiftly deleivering us to financial ruin. The middle east hates us even more that we are interferring in their countries. Think about it: would you be ok if China had tanks and troops in our streets running checkpoints??? Why is it we are allowed to police everyone else, but we can’t be policed by them? What makes our country supposedely “morally superior” to be able to police someone? Maybe its all about payment to the military industrial complex rather than genuine protection of American life in the name of fighting “terror”??

For that matter, even if you accept that the war on terror simply must be fought or the world will end in nucelar holocaust (regardless if it breaks us financially first or not), then WHY IS OUR SOUTHERN BORDER WIDE OPEN??? If I was a terrorist wanting to use a dirty bomb I would just come across the southern border. Don’t give me this crap that we can’t patrol our border. We have effectively locked down the border between North and South Korea. Not so much a chipmunk can slip south into South Korea…

    • AJ

But Herman Cain is a professional bull Sh_tter when it comes to the Federal Reserve!

    • Jibbs

You should ask the American Indians about treaties that the US broke, and look what the government did to them.

And after all these years, why do we still have a Bureau of Indian Affairs?

    • DaveH

RJ, wake up and smell the coffee. You don’t have a clue. Getting out of other countries’ business is going to start World War III? That’s like saying not punching your neighbor is going to start a fight with him.
Chances are that you know little about World War II, as do most Americans. But you have a unique opportunity to learn some truth, before you make yourself look any more ignorant. Read this book:

    Ron Paul 2012 or BU$T !!

  • Tom

Ron Paul may have appropriate views on a number of important topics, but he has one major and for me, overriding problem: he is, IMO, a moron. He hasn’t figured out yet that the people we choose to call radical Muslims have declared war on us. He likes to take it back to the overthrow of Milosevic in the ’50s. It actually goes back to more like 700 AD. They come after us about every 300 yrs. This is the current run against us. This one started in around 1928 after Mustafa Kamel threw out the imam in Istanbul and they started plotting to restore him. Jimmy “the Stupid” Carter gave them the assets of a nation state in 1979 and they showed their gratitude by declaring war on us. Pay attention, stupid. They have been repeating that for over 30 yrs.

I could never support Ron Paul. He gives stupid a bad name.

    • former walmart person

quick question for ya’… You seem to be so interested in policing the middle east to prevent a cause of death in America (death by muslum terrorist) which is FAR LESS than the deaths caused by automobile accidents… Why aren’t you screaming for NATO to deleiver radioactive death in the form of depleted uranium round machine gun fire to our DMVs and car dealerships lest more of us get behind the wheel? Until you reach a certain older age in your 50s and 60s where heart attack, cancer, and strokes takes over, you are far more likely to die in your own car than anywhere else. Stew on that some and get back to me. k, thanks.

    • LibRep

Interesting to note how stupid he is considering the extensive reading assignment he gave Giulliani back in ’08 not to mention all the economic predictions he made 5 plus years ago (as seen on youtube) that have already come true.

    • bob wire

I think you misunderstand Ron Paul Sir. ~He is not naive to the Muslim extremist question but simply electing to be a statesman about it. Willing to give the devil his due up front while demanding equal mean equal in all things and not selected things. With Liberties comes responsibilities, it’s a given understanding. The Arab world can rise to the occasion or not, it’s for them to decide and not we Americans.

If your neighbor is not allowed to carry out his own trash, attend to daily matters, why should he bother with other things? Israel has their big boy britches on and there is little question to their sting. If these nations want all out WAR, they shall have it is spite our efforts.

“It’s a good thing war is so awful, less men develop a fondness of it.”

(a feeble attempt at a quote; Gen. Grant or Sherman, can’t remember)

Only a few wealthy people and really stupid people ever wanted war that was clearly avoidable.

But basically, Ron Paul is not bothering discuss obvious details and pander to simpler minds, getting mired in hypothetical details and squandering both words and time with trivia for entertainment value.

This does go against Gov. George Wallace approach to stumping as he was know for saying, “Keep the message low enough so the goats can eat it”

But he said this back in the 60′s when South Alabama had a bumper crop of goats. I would hope most Americans today are working and thinking on a higher level. Ron Paul is not even trying to addressing goats today.

      • AJ

To Mr Wire: the quote “it is good war is awful, lest we grow too fond of it” should be attributed to General Robert E Lee. Sherman and Grant were addicted to blood. Sherman himself said that based on what he learned at West Point (USMA), he should have been convicted of war crimes in his prosecution of the war in the Confederate States.

      • bob wire

Thanks for the correction and guidance AJ. I felt as if someone here might know and while holding great appreciation for the quote, I just wasn’t sure. Gen Robert E Lee, most fitting.

        Trivia ~ remember Lee’s his horse’s name?

I’ll post it at the bottom of the page

You are obviously speaking from lack of knowledge. You need to spend some time in person with Ron Paul. Of all the people in politics and government that I have met and spent time with, Ron Paul is the most honest, intelligent, sane, sincere, and vital person among them. What more could America ask for? Take advantage of the opportunity to elect him now. We might never get a better chance to save liberty.

    • DaveH

If you could just have the intelligence, Tom, to step back and imagine yourself as a citizen of another country which has become the subject of United States aggression, you might change your mind. Our military is involved with almost every war that comes along, and you in all your wisdom don’t think that might create enemies against the United States?
Ron Paul knows what he’s talking about. You, Tom, are just an ignorant spectator at a world-wide football game cheering for your team.

    • Al Sieber

Hey Tom, you need to worry more about Communist China and Russia than Iran.

I have a question about the Federal Reserve, (which isn’t Federal and has no Reserves). Where do they get the money they loan the government? (A: out of thin air, then they hand you the bill with interest)

    • Jay

Charging interest on nothing is not too shabby, hey JC? What a bunch of skunks they are! And you would think that the American people would be up in arms about it, and yet, here we are, arguing about whether Ron Paul is good for the country. The same Ron Paul that wants to abolish the Fed. Hmm, why the opposition i wonder?

      Here’s an interesting article JC.

According to CNBC, the Federal Reserve “is planning on monitoring what you say about it on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook”. Apparently we are not supposed to be alarmed though, because as the CNBC headline states, the Federal Reserve just “wants to be your Facebook friend“.

In fact, the CNBC article says that anyone that feels threatened by the fact that the Federal Reserve will be monitoring what we say on Facebook and Twitter is just “paranoid“. Well, if it came out that Barack Obama was setting up a system that would identify “key bloggers” and monitor “billions of conversations” on the Internet to see what was being said about him, wouldn’t there be thousands of articles expressing outrage? Sure there would be.

The Federal Reserve is supposed to be an independent central bank that is above politics. So why in the world would they need to perform “sentiment analysis” on what is being said about them on “Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums and YouTube“? The Federal Reserve obviously intends to identify the negative things that are being said about it and the specific people that are saying those things. So is it really being “paranoid” to point out that all of this is more than a little bit creepy?

Mr. Livingston: I usually agree with what you say but I have serious misgivings with Ron Paul regarding his views on Iran.

I was very involved in the intelligence community for years and very familiar with the middle east. Iran is very dangerous and their quest to control the entire middle east is evident. Should this venture continue on its present course, you know it will draw the world into another war and countries choosing sides.

The United States has made a huge mistake in not recognizing the futility of their efforts to change countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan to a form of democracy as we know it. It will never work in countries under Islamic rule and ethnic division that exists there.

Although most countries in the middle east refuse to recognize Israel, there is no doubt in my mind they fear Iran more than Israel and would look the other way if Iran’s nuclear threat was eliminated.

Ron Paul is simply wrong about Iran and this is why I would not vote for him. Sometimes, he comes off like a raving lunatic during the debates and that also turns me off on him. Romney and Gingrich, from what I have seen so far, have sound reasoning in their responses without gimmicks like Cain used to win over the crowd. Remember, this is what Obama used and look what we have now as a result.

Where did you get information that Romney was part of the New World Order? I have seen Obama, Bush and Perry on that list but not Mr. Romney. The New World Order has ties with the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations. This is how Obama won and why Perry should be out because he won’t answer why he attended their meetings.

If IRAN nukes someone, Iran for centuries will just be on the map with a footnote that the entire country is a radiated wasteland. Mutually Assured Destruction worked against the Soviets with far more nukes, so why wouldn’t it work against Iran? Even if it was our job to police the world, we CANT AFFORD TO DO IT ANYMORE.

      • alex

because russans are sane and iranians aren’t

      • DaveH

Again I ask “Who is the only country in the world who has actually used a nuclear weapon on another country?”.
We must come off as the biggest bunch of colossal hypocrites in the world to other countries’ citizens.

    • http://DoULoveJesus.Wordpress.com Mark Dabney

Sounds like your work in the intel community was extremely compartmentalized – do you disregard that criminal elements of the CIA ousted a popularly elected pro-western president? Read up on Ray McGovern – or better still Dr. Alan Sabrosky – former Director of Studies at the War college

      • Bud G.

No, I do not disregard what certain elements of our government have done in the past. I also know that several countries around the world are engaged in the same thing. I did not say I condone their actions.

The point I was trying to make is Iran has made it clear control of the middle east in their goal and it likely will cause the entire middle east to erupt into war and we will be drawn into it.

I was not saying we should abandon our allies as Helen thought. The only ally we have there is Israel but I did say we should not be in Iraq, Afghanistan or involved in any way with Pakistan because they are not true allies and in fact hate America. Democracy as we know it will not become a reality in those countries. History should have told the government that probability was nil. I would rather see our soldiers away from these countries. We have sacrificed far too many good men in a futile effort. The other side of it is we have to insure our vital interests in the middle east remain simply because our country still does not recognize the danger of dependence on foreign sources for our oil. Remember, the serious discussion about this came in 1973 but after all these years, domestic production is discouraged. What would happen if we do not protect those interests if we don’t work toward domestic production? I think the answer is obvious.

Whether your work is compartmentalized or not, I have to agree with you on Ron Paul’s foreign policy statements. I am not at all comfortable with totally removing all aspects of American influence in such a volitle part of the world. President Wilson was for isolationism, but now is definitely not the time.

I realize that America can pull back on some of the financial support of alleged friends that are proving to be enemies. Our support would be better served here at home. But to pull all support would leave our true allies flailing in the wind and kill our alliances and influence.

Now I know that this here is a blog endorsing Ron Paul. I’ve tried to like him and tried to agree with his policies, but they do not represent my views. Being president isn’t just about fixing domestic policy and not overspending. We have a duty to promote democracy and aid our true allies in the entire world, not just talk about it here at home. Sorry, but I just cannot vote for him based on what I have seen at the debates and what he writes about and stands for. I like some of his conservative views, but his foreign policy views are just dangerous to America and Americans.

      • DaveH

It is largely “volatile” because the US and British busybodies have made it so, Helen. Read the link I posted above, and awaken to reality.
Ron Paul has the wisdom of our Founders who knew that Foreign Entanglements could only lead to no good.
Someday, the busybody involvements of our meddling politicians is going to come home to roost.

      • Vicki

Our foreign policy should very simply be this.

I’m all for auditing the Fed, but why is it a Presidential litmus test? Can the Pres order it (Exec order, Finance Czar, whatever)? Wouldn’t Congress have to do it (fat chance)? And is the Pres even relevant? Congress has oversight and can do it without him. I don’t think he could even stop it. It does provide for some interesting dabate – like when Romney cracked “who do you WANT overseeing the currency – CONGRESS?” Hardee har har. Shows what he knows (or cares) about the Constitution.

  • PFWAG

You Libertarian might want to do some reading and researching before spouting off, and that includes Bob Livingston. The Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the Federal Reserve Banks, and the Federal Reserve System are all have several levels of annual audits and reviews. Like all corporations, the Board’s financial statements are audited by an outside auditor and the Federal Reserve’s operations are the Federal Reserve is also subject to review by the Government Accountability Office. How close the audits are scrutinized is another matter.

However, the real issue is how they set monetary policy without any input or approval of Congress and how the debt is monetized. by basically just printing money.

As for Cain’s involvement, he was not part of the Federal Reserve Board but of the KC bank and that was some 16 years ago. He’s had no(known) links since. Maybe he was actually just a diversity appointment. Cain is also on record as saying that Federal Reserve needs to be “fixed” although he doesn’t specify what exactly needs to be fixed.

BTW, in addition to not supporting Israel, Paul believes we are still living in the 19th century where the oceans and SW desert are going to protect us from our enemies.

    • dan

Not Dr. Paul’s position at all WAG…he’s for letting Israel deal with their own problems in a democratic fashion instead of being dictated to by our State Dept. Nice points on Caine ,but I’ve observed a bit of that racial-chip-on-the-shoulder syndrome a couple of times.

    • http://www.boblivingstonletter.com/ Bob Livingston

      Dear PFWAG,

Either you are ignorant and are the one who needs to read, or you are a Federal Reserve shill. The Fed has never had a complete audit. The GAO audit is limited to areas outside of monetary policy. The GAO can’t review most of the Fed’s monetary policy actions or decisions, including discount window lending (direct loans to financial institutions), open-market operations and any other transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee. It also can’t look into the Fed’s transactions with foreign governments, foreign central banks and other international financing organizations.

      Best wishes,
      Bob

I am so disappointed in all the candidates, and those who ‘think they may or may not’ become candidates. I wouldn’t vote for any of them. NOT a one of them has hit the right note to earn my vote. The saddest part of it all, will there be ‘someone’ to step up and solidly run as a COMMON SENSE cONSERVATIVE

    • LibRep

I’m personally tired of candidates that don’t stand on anything but what the polls say. I’m not in favr of a Christie run, but I do like what he said in his speech at the Reagan library – leaders don’t change because of polls. Leaders change polls. So far, I haven’t seen any candidate that changes polls other than Ron Paul. We are on the cusp of seeing a government giving us all we want changing to a government that’s going to take everything we have, especially if we elect another RINO.

Ron Paul is the way the Republican Party used to be and needs to be again. Check out this speech from Ulysses S Grant on reasons to be a Reoublican (http://www.nationalcenter.org/USGrant.html) and ask yourselves what happened to this party? This is the Republican Party I belong to, not the RINO pseudo-liberal, neo-con warmongering party we have now. It’s also why Ron Paul has my vote and my family’s vote.

For God and Country – Ron Paul 2012

      • Karolyn

Christie is considered a liberal who is soft on immigration. Just because he has a belligerant nature does not make him a good candidate. I think that’s why so many conservatives like him, because he talks back at people who oppose his views and does so in a plainspoken manner.

      • DaveH

No, Ron Paul is the way the Democratic-Republican party used to be. The Republican party came into existence in 1854, and almost immediately began pushing for the “internal improvements” programs, a euphemism for Government involvement in the economy (Crony Capitalism). They have been protecting their favorite Crony Capitalists and vice-versa ever since. It should be noted that the Democrats have their own set of Crony Capitalists these days.

More on the roots of the Republican Party:

    • Dagney

Yeah, that’s intelligent. Withhold your vote because you can’t find the “perfect” candidate. Enough people do that and you’ll see our country become a dictatorship under Obama because he wins reelection. Makes sense to me!

ABO = Anybody BUT Obama 2012!!!!

      • Mushin

Dagney – if it isn’t Ron Paul, kiss your country and your ass good bye!

      • DaveH

No, Dagney, we got where we are now because too many people thought the lesser of two evils was the correct way to go. But lesser or not, it was still evil and the Government just kept growing into the Leviathan beast it now is. There is no slack left now. If we don’t get perfection, we get even more of the same, and you can pretty much kiss your Freedom goodbye.

Michele has a Phd behind her name in tax law. Do you know how hard those are to ge? She has started and run a successful business. She is on the intelligence committee. GUESS SHE IS MUCH SMARTER THAN YOU ARE BOB.

    • newspooner

I think she is fairly good, but her voting record was a disappointing 70% constitutional. The really big flaw is her support for the continuation of the neocon-nazism that the Establishment calls the “Patriot Act”.

    • James

If she has a Phd why would she say every American has a right to keep every dollar that they earn and then back peddle and say “Obviously we need to give money back to the government”. It doesn’t sound too well thought through for someone who supposedly has a doctorate in the subject. Why didn’t she put a number to it, and support a position like you have a right to keep 80% of what you earn? It would have made more sense. The people at theprojecttorestoreamerica.com want an amendment that says exactly that, after taking into account all federal and state forms of taxation they want to guarantee that you have a right to keep 80% of what you earn. Sounds good to me. Anyway, this is a hard hitting article and is exactly right.

    • Mushin

HAVING A P.H.D. IS NO GUARANTEE OF INTELLIGENCE!

I agree — after all, she did marry Obama!!! Also, she has a degree from a government-brainwashed liberal university.

Caroline, they were talking about Michelle Bachman, not Obamas wife.

      • patsy

Doesn’t that stand for Post Hole Digger?

    • DaveH

That is just about the dumbest comment I’ve seen today, Roger. It makes me think you know little about college educations. Some of the most ignorant people I’ve known had degrees. And some of the smartest people I’ve known didn’t have degrees.

    • Al Sieber

Yeah Roger, she’s bought and paid for also.

At one time, political leaders worked and served the American taxpayer. Today, Washington, DC, is a giant cesspool for liars, whores, and thieves.

    • JeffH

Myra, maybe there is a reason why Palin wasn’t trashed by the author.
Hasn’t the MSM already written her epitaph? I like Palin too but you and I both know she won’t run and that a large part of the country rely on the MSM and local news for their enlightenment and believe what they “hear”…

    • Karolyn

Sarah Palin is too busy having fun to run for President anyway. That, and raking in all that money.

    • DaveH

Sarah Palin kicked Arizona in the teeth by campaigning for the Ultra-RINO John McCain. I may never forgive her for that.
She’s pretty. She’s smart. But she doesn’t understand the concept of Freedom. Yet. I think she’s capable of learning, but I don’t want her practicing as my President.
Besides, we already have Ron Paul. And there is no candidate in the Republican party who comes close to Ron. Most Politicians are out for themselves and their Crony Capitalists and could care less about the citizens. They feed off each other. The Crony Capitalists put up the campaign funds to get the Politicians reelected, and the Politicians put up the Protectionist laws to keep the Crony Capitalists in clover at the expense of their competitors, the consumers, and the taxpayers.

      • Al Sieber

I’ll second and 3rd that Dave.

  • eve4drpaul

WOW!!! So let me see. If DR. Ron Paul don’t become president, then we WON’T HAVE a president. WOW!!! You got a point there! WOW!!! Just WOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

      • newspooner

Actually, we might have been better off for the past 83 years if we didn’t have a President. Too many people irrationally either love or hate our Presidents. Let’s not glorify individuals who get elected. They are not superior in the eyes of God. Neither is Queen Hohernzollern, but too many dumb people in UK glorify her. I thought we fought a revolution to get away from that immature crap. Let’s just vote for the best candidates for President Senator, etc. then hold them to following the Constitution. Among the candidates, Ron Paul comes out way on top.

      • Brian

If Dr. Paul isn’t the next president it really doesn’t matter who is because they are all the same as each other and just like Obama. With out Ron Paul the only thing that changes if a Republican is elected is the name on the letter head.

You are sadly out of touch with reality, and time is running out for liberty.

@ Newspooner -these nimrod’s who oppose Ron Paul cannot be reasoned with NS. Ron Paul is the only man willing to stand for for ALL OUR FOUNDING FATHERS STOOD FOR – if he isn’t elected, our country will end as we know it.
As far as Israel goes, LET THEM FEND FOR THEMSELVES. OUR GOVERNMENT GIVES THE ISRAELIS BILLIONS EVERY YEAR, THEY HAVE 60 NUCLEAR WARHEADS, THEY DON’T NEED US – PERIOD. If the middle-easterners don’t want to live with their brothers in peace, let them bomb each other and end this stalemate….it is NOT our place to come between them and our interference is preventing a resolution!

RON PAUL IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WHO IS NOT BOUGHT AND SOLD BY THE ELITE.

    • Bruce R Porter Sr

Ok, but he picks up 13 votes here.
If all you want is “getting elected” just pick the best looking one, really doesn’t matter. All you’re gonna get is the Kenyan with an R behind his name…..same policies. Just like we’ve had since Reagan. Or maybe, with slight wiggles, since FDR.

You sound like a “liberal”. You don’t like him….but, did the article say the truth? Were there any falsities in it? Hasn’t Paul said the same things for 30 years? Didn’t the rest of the crew do exactly what was stated?

If not, instead of making dumb comments, show where Paul is wrong or has lied. Prove that his policies would not be int the best interests of the country. Heck, you read like a shill for the republican establishment…..which is the same as the democratic establishment.

The truth will set you free…..read that somewhere.

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

        To Bruce R. Porter Sr.
If Ron Paul has been saying and doing the same things consistently for 30 years, don’t you think he would have been elected by now. Some of his ideas are as right as rain. Others are washouts. The stuff I agree with him about I would really like to see implemented, however the things are don’t agree with him about are all serious topics as well. When I look at a candidate, I don’t want to have to vote for one who has as many great positions as they have far fetched positions. This is what will cost him the election if he gets the nomination.

      • DaveH

Robin says “If Ron Paul has been saying and doing the same things consistently for 30 years, don’t you think he would have been elected by now?”
No. It takes time for people to throw off a hundred years worth of propaganda. People don’t wake up overnight, especially when they’ve been taught most of their lives to fear Freedom.
Perhaps you could enlighten us, Robin, to his “wash out” ideas, instead of just throwing out blanket generalizations?
Every one of Ron Paul’s stands have good solid basis behind them. He is more like Thomas Jefferson than any other Politician today.
You can’t argue logically against anything Ron advocates, unless you are speaking to an illogical crowd.
But don’t let me scare you away from trying. Give it your best shot, Robin.

      • Pete in AZ

You’re right…it ‘takes time…” But, it’s the time it took for Paul to throw off his mantle of Libertarian and pick up a Republican color to vault into contention.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, it just shows how inattentive the run of the mill voter is.

    • Jibbs

      Then why are you here?

    • John Howard

I’m with you John, RP scares the crap out of me. He doesn’t care!! if Iran has a nuclear bomb? He doesn’t feel like its an important point when the Iranian leader has said that when he gets the bomb, Israel is first and the United States is next? How can anyone, let alone a serious presidential candidate, look the other way on that subject. Did we forget that Iran has been an enemy of the US since the Ayatollah took over back in the 70′s.

      • dan

Boys, boys…prohibition does not work…not on booze ,not on drugs ,not on bombs. Try not to be afraid of bullies…that’s how they win.

      • http://DoULoveJesus.Wordpress.com Mark Dabney

Iran does NOT have a nuclear WEAPONS program – the Zionist propaganda is a bare faced LIE – while Israhell has hundreds of state of the art nuclear weapons & delivery systems and reactors running to make even more- Israhell is carrying out racist genocide while playing from Saul Alinskis’ “Rules For Radicals” number 5 – accuse those that rightly accuse you to destroy their credibility.

As for drugs – criminal elements of the gov’t has been exacerbating the problem- but where in the constitution does the feral gov’t have authority in this matter? So long as people are held accountable for their actions – society will take care of itself.

      • Dale on the left coast

        Mark . . . you sound like your leader . . . Akmed Dinnerjacket.

Go back to 1951 and see who started the ball bouncing. We need to mind our own business. Had we done so from day 1, the Muslim nations would still be killing each other like them have for 1000s of years. They wouldn’t even know the United States was on the map, had we not introduced ourselves by meddling in their affairs.

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

57 girl… You can’t go back except to not repeat a mistake. We can’t change what happened then. Ron Paul has some great ideas, but he also has just as many that are not so great. He was born before his time. That can’t be changed either….

      • DaveH

I’m still waiting for you to delineate his not-so-great ideas, Robin.

      • TML

“How can anyone, let alone a serious presidential candidate, look the other way on that subject. Did we forget…”

“The United States goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is a well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. If the United States took up all foreign affairs, it would become entangled in all the wars of interest and intrigue, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. She might become the dictatress of the world. She would no longer be the ruler of her own soul.” – John Quincy Adams

It would seem that, yes, this country has forgotten.

      • patsy

That was then, this is now

      • Vicki

And it is quite apparent that she ( the United States ) by trying to dictate how the world should be, has in fact, lost her soul.

Our forefathers yet again prove that they were far wiser than any alive today. Regrettably they did not foresee how dumb we would become.

      • B. Hill

OK, Iran has a bomb…So freaking what? Don’t you think Israel can handle this issue in time? You don’t know or understand the history of these people.

The Bomb can only go as far as the state of Israel and NOT the United States. Israel is monitoring this situation minute by minute. Ron Paul knows that Israel is capable of intervening Iran and their bomb.
That is why he give little attention to Iran having a bomb. Because he knows that Israel will strike Iran when the time is right. The time is NOT right…right now kids.

You are wallowing in fear I think!

      • DaveH

Of course he cares, John, if Iran has a nuclear weapon. He is just smart enough to know that they aren’t nearly as dangerous as the fear-mongers would have us believe.
Which nation is the only nation in the world to have ever actually used a nuclear weapon?
Which nation has the second most number of nuclear weapons in the world (and probably more technically advanced than any other)?
Which nation has their nosy-nose in more countries’ business than any other nation in the world?
I fear the people who are worthy of being feared.
Imagine what other countries must think of the US?

      • Earl

        How soon we forget!!

In 1953 America and the CIA engineered a coup d’ etat against the democratically elected Mohammed Mossadegh in Iran, who took control of the oil wealth of The country for Iran’s benefit, from the Arab-american oil co, Installing the Shah, Reza Palhlevi, who turned out to be a despot and ruthless dictator-puppet of the US Gov’t. This, and his ruthless secret service known as SAVAK, set the stage for the Iranian student revolution of 1979 and the return of the Ayatolla Ruholla Khomeini From exile. There have been slight changes since then but the Mullahs still control the agenda, not Ahmejinedad.

While were on the subject of Iran, The oft-repeated statement that Israel is to be destroyed, Has been translated many times and reads: “The ZIONIST REGIME must vanish from the pages of time”. Not exactly a call for destruction, more like fade away or disappear…

      • Al Sieber

Good one Earl, I was waiting for someone to bring that up. nobody’s brought up Pakistan and the bomb yet, or India.

    • Brian

People like you like to claim that Ron Paul is a nut job, but never offer any proof other than talking points you heard on the Lame Stream Media.

    • JeffH

john turner, good luck on finding any other candidate that is as conservative as Ron Paul…it just ain’t gonna happen. What other candidate has a consistant 30+ year track record and offers more constitutional freedom and liberty than Ron Paul. It’s all about personal responsibility and Ron Paul is the only candidate that honestly supports your ability to make your own choices without the overbearing government making them for you. Are you happy with the status quo? If so, vote for someone else…if not, a vote for Paul will certainly give America a chance to start returning itself to a constitutional republic.

Your twelve children, John? I guess you’re right, Ron Paul is not the man for you. You would be much more comfortable with a dictator as it appears you must be one in your family. What do you do, follow your kids to the polling booth?
No, actually John, you must be the one on drugs. I do no drugs (never have), not even aspirin, so my head is clear enough to see that the Drug Wars have accomplished nothing except enriching the worst segment of Society (Drug Lords), allowing the Government an excuse to suspend our Constitutional Freedoms, causing the deaths of many innocent victims caught in the middle between the Drug Gangs and the Drug Warriors, and costing our country about $25 Billion a year.
Thanks to people like you who don’t have the sense to learn from experience (Prohibition), the rest of us have to fear Nazi-like Drug Raids on our innocent families, and we have to watch a large portion of our money thrown down that futile Drug War hole.
They can’t even stop prisoners from getting drugs, and yet a large portion of our population has been so dumbed-down by propaganda that they honestly think it’s a war that can be won militarily in a free society.

few people OD’d on Drugs, and since we are so much more intelligent
today, why would LEGAL DRUGS be a problem?

Wow are you on the Ron Paul campaign staff or what? If the entire job of the President was getting the Fed audited then yea Paul is the man but the job of the President goes far beyond that. Just ask Mr Obama who thought the job consisted of speaking and everything would change by magic

That’s because the Federal Reserve is the top of the pyramid. You have to start at the top to fix all the problems. If you went to the doctor with a broken leg would you have them to look at your arm first?

“The love of money is the root of all evil”

Yes the Fed should be the top of the list!

      • Jay

While they’re at it, they should change the name “Federal Reserve” to, “Private banking cartel”. Nothing federal about it, and there are no reserves! It’s an out and out SCAMOLA!!!

      • 57girl

Exactly. He who controls the money supply controls the game. It is time we blew the dust off of our Constitution and abided by its guidelines. That would begin with abolishing the Federal Reserve. Ron Paul is the only Candidate running to date that has the nerve to go against the grain and stand up for our founding papers. If we want to save our Sovereignty, we must get rid of the private bankers and the puppet masters that are pulling the strings, including trying to erase our borders in favor of the NAU/NWO.

Ron Paul . 2012 . It is time to restore America.

      • Donald

Are you saying the Government take over the banks? How else would you get rid of private banking?

      • JeffH

…may have the private banks confused with the central banks that are attached to the Fed and the World Banks.

      • DaveH

The problem with the Federal Reserve, Donald, is that they have monopoly power over the creation of legal tender, and that they print basically worthless paper dollars which only have value because the Government says so (or else). Read this free online book to gain more knowledge:

      • Jay

DaveH, this looks like a most interesting read! Thank you for that.

      • DanB

I chuckle at all these arguments that make one strange assumption: if we get rid of the fed then our money problems will be fixed. Ironic because some of the same people realize that we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. We spend more than we have. So all this talk of getting out of the Fed is laughable.

Will dissolving the Fed fix the problem? What happened when we had prohibition on alcohol? We got crime. So what will abolishing the Fed do when America is addicted to spending? Fix absolutely nothing.

What if we fixed our addiction first? Perhaps the Fed would lose its power. If we started becoming responsible from the bottom up, how quickly would the Fed open its doors? If we stopped being addicts, then it would only be the Fed that is addicted to its power. We could actually turn their own greed upon themselves. They would treat us right because they would have to in order to keep our business. Because if we managed our spending, then we wouldn’t really need their policies. They would straighten out on their own just to keep us as happy customers. However, since we are addicts, they know they HAVE to keep their books closed. An addict is never satisfied. Would the drug dealer on the street tell his client where he stores the illegal drugs? Probably not. He would risk having a client stealing his illicit goods. Well, we are addicted to spending. Opening the Feds books would fix nothing, in fact, it would probably make things worse.

See, sometimes the best solution is not the easy. Crying auditing the Fed is easy to say. They make a good political target. It is the easy way of pushing blame away from ourselves. We don’t like taking responsibility for changing our own lives. But that is just what we need to do. We need to give up our drug, our addiction, our spending habit. Once we do, then auditing the Fed makes sense. Until then, we will fix nothing by auditing the Fed.

So Herman Cain is partly correct is saying that auditing the Fed will not have the effect you think it will. I do think he is wrong in part about the Fed being clean. But the problem is not the Fed, the problem is us. The Fed was originally created to feed our addiction. I don’t know, but it seems like as a nation we are even more addicted now then ever.

      • Vicki

WE are not the problem. WE don’t have a spending problem. CONGRESS has a spending problem. They spend OUR money. They borrow more money on OUR credit. And spend it too. If a single family did that they would be broke in a very short time Government, however, using the effects of the Federal Reserve just prints more money. That money gets into the “money supply” raising the price of things including wages. With wages higher more of OUR money is taken in taxes to pay back the money+interest that CONGRESS borrowed.

Thus you see as Reagan warned Government is NOT the solution. Government IS the problem.

Removing the ability to print money from thin air will dramatically reduce the amount of money available to Congress. Thus you see how ending the FED will help with the spending problem.

Ron Paul is not running for re-election in Congress while running for president. Get him now as president or miss out. I think the previous commenter was being sarcastic because it seemed like crazy talk to me. Have you noticed with all the money we send over to Israel to pay for their defense it means their government can spend their money to fund scientists and business development programs so they can produce the best science our money can buy. Why bother funding our own businesses when we can fund theirs instead? If they paid for their own defense maybe they would get along with their neighbors better? Maybe they would get along better with the Christian they spit upon, and the Palestinians they keep in an open air prison? Their treatment is truly un-American. Let’s just keep a measured sensible approach to where our money goes and keep it here first of all, allow people to do business at the private level, and support the Palestinians in the UN with a vote for statehood so they can get legal UN support to kick any then illegal occupiers out of their state before Israel drags out talks for another 10 years like they want to do so they can settle more people to become the majority.

Palistine could be a country and it wouldn’t take much to create a homeland for them. Jerusalem seems to be the major sticking point. If a Palestinian State had been carved out after the 1967 War some of the current problems could have been resolved. Lebanon was a majority Christian nation but the lack of a homeland for the PLO to go to caused that country to explode. So instead of having another trusted ally the Christians were pushed out and Iran armed the Hezbollah. Israel and the USA blew that option and that allowed the Arabs in the Middle East to use the Palistinians as their poster boy for oppression. They are still using it as a wedge issue and we get caught up in the turmoil. If you want Israel to exist forever then form a Palistine nation which will take away the fuse.

      • JeffH

“If you want Israel to exist forever then form a Palistine nation which will take away the fuse.”

The fuse will never be taken away…
Eliminating Israel – A well-known hadith (a saying of the Prophet Mohammed accepted by Muslims as canonical and weighty), relating to the prospective end-of-days battle between Muslims and Jews, states:

The Prophet … says: ‘The hour of judgement shall not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them, so that the Jews hide behind trees and stones, and each tree and stone will say: “Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him” …’

This hadith is approvingly quoted in the 1988 Charter (or constitution) of the Hamas, the fundamentalist Palestinian organization that controls the Gaza Strip and won the 2006 Palestinian general elections.

      • Earl

Tom: World history will show that Palestinians occupied that land for about 1500 years before the artificial state of Israel was created by the Balfour declaration earlier in this century as a pay-back for opposing Germany in WW II. The Palestinians were then DRIVEN from that land into Jordan and other places by groups of terrorists such as Menachem Begin, Sharon Peres, Yitzhak Shamir, and others when they were part of a terrorist organization know as the Irgun Zvi Leumi. Most are still refugees to this day. Small wonder why they aren’t exactly fond of Israel! If they want a separate state, That is the most logical thing to do. The sticking point is that THE SETTLERS will fight to the death before they give up their ill-gotten “facts on the ground” that Sharon and others were in so big a hurry to build on contested land. By the way, Ariel Sharon is also know by another moniker, “the butcher of beirut” and was an avid participant in the Sabra and Shatila Massacres in which all were killed, included women and children…I once heard Shamir say with my own ears on a TV news spot “we will crush them like grasshoppers under our feet”. This was before most of the intifadas had occurred……..Just a little “history”, Tom.

      • JeffH

Earl, perhaps you should go farther back in history yourself…long before Palestine . The truth is that Palestine is no more real than Never-Never Land. The first time the name was used was in 70 A.D. when the Romans committed genocide against the Jews, smashed the Temple and declared the land of Israel would be no more. From then on, the Romans promised, it would be known as Palestine. The name was derived from the Philistines, a Goliathian people conquered by the Jews centuries earlier. It was a way for the Romans to add insult to injury. They also tried to change the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina, but that had even less staying power.

So what’s the solution to the Middle East mayhem? Well, frankly, there is a man-made solution to the violence. But, if there is one, it needs to begin with truth. Pretending will only lead to more chaos. Treating a 5,000-year-old birthright backed by overwhelming historical and archaeological evidence equally with illegitimate claims, wishes and wants gives diplomacy and peacekeeping a bad name.

      • Mountain Saint

There already was a homeland set up for the Palestinians in the early 20th Century. It was called TransJordan (Jordan today)…Palestine (Israel) was intended for the Jews and they should force all Arabs out of their country into Jordan, where 70% of the population is already Palestinian…Believe it or not, the Arabs are uniting right now to annihilate the Jewish nation (Psalm 83) but instead the Israelis will annihilate their cities in the next and last Arab vs. Israeli war (Amos 1-2, Isaiah 17:1 and Ezekiel 29:12). Israel will occupy the Promise Land (Genesis 15:18) and become one of the greatest and most prosperous nations on earth (Ezekiel 38:11-13).

You are correct to identify theology as the pivotal issue. Unfortunately, your view of Israel is a 170-year-old novelty in the history of Christian Biblical scholarship and is unsupported by sound exegesis of the Scriptures. • Bob in Boston

Actually, to correct you, Ron Paul is for removing foreign aid not just from Israel but from all of Israel’s neighbors. So to say that Ron Paul would hurt Israel is patently *incorrect* because we currently give 6x as much to all of Israel’s neighbors as we give to Israel, so if we stopped foreign aid to the region, the net effect on Israel would be POSITIVE. Not to mention the absurdity of us *borrowing* 40% of the money we’re giving to Israel and it’s neighbors from China and Russia. Let them borrow money from China and Russia directly rather than having the American tax payers pay their interest for them. If we removed our influence from the area, then Israel would be more than capable of taking care of themselves, as they proved by blowing up that nuclear reactor in Iran years ago. The only thing stopping them from controlling that situation now is *us*, and if we started minding our own business, as advocated by Dr. Paul, Israel would take care of the situation MUCH more effectively.

      • Old Henry

I don’t know what brought this to mind, but I remember during the 1973 war hearing – just onece – on a radio news report about the Isrealie Army “vaporizing” an enemy tank. The reporter stated the tank was simply gone.

I invite you to go back to 1951 and look at how the United States got involved with the Middle East to begin with. The Muslim ‘terrorists’ that we all fear so much probably wouldn’t even know that America existed had we not gone into their Nation’s and splashed in their mud puddles to begin with. Dr. Paul is absolutely correct in wanting to stay out of the affairs of other Nations. We should have done so from day one. America creates her own problems and her own enemies by sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong. Learn the history of why we are where we are today, then come back and rant about Iran. We should have stayed out of the Middle East. Period. Their culture and ours are worlds apart and we have no business dictating how they run their Governments any more than they would ours. We need to solve our own problems and let the rest of the world solve theirs.

They are in the vast majority of cases Ashkenazim, who are not genetically elated to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They are a Turkic-Uighuric people who CONVERTED to Judaism in the 10th century. Originating originally from a place called Khazaria in what is now Georgia, they have migrated over the centuries to eastern Europe, Hence the different “Jews” in Russia, Poland,France, Germany and elsewhere. Therefore they have No claim to the ancient land of “Israel” which was created by ZIONISTS led by Theodor Herzl in the early part of this century…..Do your homework and stop listening to those right-wing preachers like Hagee, etc,. I have never been impressed with Perry or Cain, neither of whom I trust. Cain is slicker than Perry, but both candidates are problematic: Cain mostly because he belongs to the Congressional Black Caucus (a racist organization) and is connected to the Federal Reserve. Perry and Gingrich are opportunists who will go any way that most benefits them. Romney has always been a RINO. Bachman will not attrack the independents–she is too far to the right. The trouble is, I don’t think Ron Paul can win–he can attrack the right but not the moderates.

That said, in reply to the person who said most missles aimed at Israel miss and there are few casualties, the Arabs NEVER have been able to master new technology, whereas Israel has embraced it. Also, Israel has bomb shelters everywhere necessary to forestall personal casualties during missle strikes, while the Palestinians spend most of their time complaining and seeking freebies. Israel employs many Palestinians in Israel and provides medical care for them, but Palestine does not reciprocate because if they still occupied Israel, it would be a desert today. Israelis (the first inhabitants of Israel) got a desert property in 1948 and desalinated water to grow crops and build a functioning metropolis, while the Palestinians did nothing to improve their lot.

People seem to forget that Israelis worked hard, both men and women, to make Israel what it is today. They did not spend their time asking for hand-outs and complaining about their misfortunes. People tend to take the side of the weaklings, but I personally admire strong, hardworking people.
