Ron Paul Talks To Jon Stewart

Ron Paul Talks To Jon Stewart

On a Monday episode of The Daily Show, comedian Jon Stewart offered 2012 GOP candidate Ron Paul some advice about how get the mainstream media to stop leaving him out of news reports despite overwhelming support.

Stewart suggested jokingly that Paul might try repudiating some of his past political positions to give other candidates something to engage him about at future debates.

“I would suggest, perhaps, what you should do right now is come out for a war on Iran,” said Stewart before saying that Paul’s “consistency has been a real problem for the media.”

The comedian also noted that the mainstream media continue to cover politicians like Sarah Palin and Chris Christie who are not even running in the 2012 race yet, while suppressing headlines for Paul who consistently places third place or better in polls.

“Some people don’t want to hear the message,” Paul said, “Because it’s a threat to them. I’m a threat to the establishment. And some just don’t understand what freedom is all about.”

Paul said that his campaign could very well be on the verge of an explosion of interest in his Presidential bid as his message of freedom and free markets gains momentum.

I rarely get to watch Stewart. Since he’s a comedian of sorts, I fail to see why he hasn’t yet understood that one topic on its own (the hypocritical, lamestream media) is worth its weight in gold. He should never be without material.
When he gets a reputation for sticking it to America’s $2 dollar whore media, I’ll have a reason to think he’s a cut above other political comedians. Get with the program, Stewart. Do you think George Carlin would have taken the easy way out just so he could evade or soothe critics?

Hey S C, I deign to differ on your view that he hasn’t understood they hypocritical nature of the lamestream media. It’s the main fodder of material that he uses for his program!!! What he fails to understand is the nature of the free market and how that can bring prosperity to millions. Unfortunately it wasn’t one of Dr. Paul’s best appearances. The examples he used were not the best for understanding how the market can regulate itself. Or for understanding the massive transformation in the wealth of Americans from 1865 – 1915 all benefit of the free market.

I watched a small part of this show–and from what I observed I thought Jon Stewart was very nice to Ron Paul. And yes, I do like Ron Paul.

Oops, I forgot to add- I like Ron Paul much better than his son.

      • DaveH

        Why’s that, Claire?

I wonder if some of the drones that watch The Daily Show actualy learned anything listening to Ron Paul. I’m sure it went in one ear and out the other, with nothing in between to stop and hold it.
