Macaw Saves Man From Robbers
FORT SMITH, Ark., Sept. 20 (UPI) — An Arkansas man credited his pet macaw for rescuing him from a pair of home invaders who attacked him and demanded drugs.
Jack Dukes of Fort Smith said he let the two men into his home about 2:35 a.m. Monday because he thought one of them was a neighbor, and once inside they attacked him physically and demanded hydrocodone pills, KSFM-TV, Fort Smith, reported Tuesday.
Dukes said one of the invaders grabbed his macaw, Charlie, leading the bird to attack. He said Charlie used his beak to take a chunk out of the man’s arm.
“He said to the other guy, he said ‘let’s get the hell out of here,’ and they both headed out the door,” Dukes said.
Police said the case is under investigation.
