Pawlenty Endorses Romney Campaign

Prior to the Tea Party Debate Monday night, former GOP candidate Tim Pawlenty, during an appearance on Fox News, endorsed former rival Mitt Romney for the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination.

“Alone among the contenders, [Romney] possesses the unique qualifications to confront and master our severe economic predicament. His abiding faith in our country’s exceptional historical position as a beacon of freedom will make him the most important leader in a world that depends upon a strong America to stay at peace,” Pawlenty said.

According to Deseret News, the endorsement comes only months after Pawlenty criticized Romney for passing a health bill in Massachusetts which President Barack Obama said was a model for his own healthcare legislation. Pawlenty called Obama’s plan “Obamneycare” after both Obama and Romney.

After being asked about his sudden change of opinion, Pawlenty said he now believes Romney is dedicated to repealing Obamacare.

Pawlenty also said he believes Romney has better plans for Social Security reform than Texas Governor Rick Perry, who is considered Romney’s biggest rival at this point in the race.

“Gov. Romney wants to fix Social Security. He doesn’t want to abolish it or end it,” Pawlenty said. “Gov. Perry has said in the past that he thought it was ‘failed.’”

Pawlenty is joining the Romney campaign as a national co-chairman but said he would not consider any other positions in the Romney camp.

“I’m not going to consider being VP. I was down that path once before with John McCain,” he said. “That won’t be part of the future for me.”

    There is only one real choice if you want the Federal Government to be smaller and more in line with the Constitution which they falsely swear to obey. That choice is Ron Paul.
    If you just can’t stand the idea of ending the Drug Wars which have cost us our 4th Amendment rights, enriched the Drug Lords (the worst segment of society), terrorized as well as killed many innocent victims, and cost this country tens of billions of dollars each year, then lean on Congress to stop Ron Paul from doing the sensible thing. He can’t unilaterally stop those Drug Wars.
    If you just can’t stand the idea of ending our Empire Building around the world which has resulted in losing tens of thousands of our good soldiers, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians, making millions of new enemies, and spending hundreds of billions of dollars each year, then lean on Congress to stop Ron Paul from doing the sensible thing.
    But Ron Paul (with Congress’s cooperation) is the only viable candidate in the race who can and will actually shrink our Gargantuan Government before we have no money and no Freedom left.

    Folks, I’d rather have half a conservative loaf, than none. Romney stands the best chance to pull independents, and thus defeat Obahma. He has a track record of solving problems, with solid experience in the private and public sector. This election is about jobs, jobs, jobs – and whether you like his style, politics, religion, color, age; or not; Americans will vote for a jobs guy. I’m in.

      Sorry to inform you, I am, and have always been independent, and will not ever vote for a white Obama, as many of my independent voter friends agree. I’m not racist, just interested in a FREE America in all aspects.

      Pay attention. Even the majority of the Tea Party candidates caved to the Debt Ceiling raise. That was their only real chance until 2012 to do something to stop the Big Government Leviathan.
      Do you really think an establishment Liberal Republican from the state of Massachusetts, arguably the most Liberal state in the country, the man who sponsored Romneycare, will shrink our Government?

    Wally Peepers Pawlenty has now done his utmost, he has seceded from the campaign in a orderly fashion and now has thrown his light weight political bulk over to Mitt, who is going to have to fight like the devil to get that nomination….

    National co-chair?? Pawlenty is doing this because Romney has vowed to help him pay for his outstanding debt of campaigning. What would you expect Pawlenty to say? This is the very reason he could never get a decent following. He’ll say anything he is told to say, now, by Romney.

      Joyce; I was wavering on Romney, but now that Pawlenty has endorsed him I have made up my mind to Oppose Romney. I think it was a deal breaker for Romney. I like Newt but he would be ripped apart by the Liberal Media. Actually the Liberal Media will decide for us, (we like to think we can make a difference) but they will spend the money, and once again will dupe the Ignorant in this country into hating the Republicans, and Obama WILL BE reelected because of their Power.

      Especially in light of his previous comment about “Obamney Care” at the last debate he was involved in? Just to reiterate that the Mainstream Liberal Media, is serving “Romney” up like the most tasty feast on a silver platter! Let’s not let what happened to McCain happen once again in 2012! Michelle Bachmann yesterday said it best when she said that this election is the most important in history and if Obama gets in again, in my words not hers, “We are TOAST!” Do not fall for the Left’s endorsement of any GOP candidate, as it’s a set-up to get BozObama re-elected!!!
