MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich., Aug. 26 (UPI) — Sheriff’s officials in Michigan said Friday a 28-year-old man may be the father of a baby born to an 11-year-old girl.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is setting up an interview with the man, who Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said is the boyfriend of the girl’s mother, The Detroit News reported.
“He’s tied to the family,” Wickersham said.
Wickersham said the baby, born this month, is now in the care of Child Protective Services and the mother is now 12.
Investigators will interview the man, then decide whether to seek charges, the sheriff said.
“Right now, there are a lot of unanswered questions,” Wickersham said.
He said he did not believe any inappropriate contact happened at the Prevail Academy School, where the girl attended classes and the man had worked briefly as a janitor.
Wickersham said he didn’t think the interview would be conducted Friday.
