STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Aug. 25 (UPI) — Police in Pennsylvania said they arrested newlyweds accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of supplies for their wedding reception.
Investigators said State College residents Arthur Phillips III, 32, and Brittany Lurch, 22, married Aug. 18 and went to a Wegmans supermarket Saturday in Patton Township to get items for their wedding reception, which was scheduled for later in the afternoon, the Centre Daily News, State College, Pa., reported Thursday.
However, police said surveillance cameras recorded the couple filling their cart with $1,049.26 worth of items and leaving the store without paying.
Officers said they confronted the couple and found a glass pipe with marijuana residue inside their car.
Phillips and Lurch were arrested and charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property. Phillips was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
