President Obama To Appoint Former Private Sector Head To State Department Position

August 24, 2011 by

Wendy Sherman has not yet been approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and there has been pressure from GOP Senators to have her reveal clients that she worked with while in the private sector. The Administration of President Barack Obama has continued the revolving-door relationship between the private sector and Washington, as he has appointed Wendy Sherman to the position of undersecretary for political affairs, The Washington Times reported.

Wendy Sherman previously worked for the Clinton Administration, a position that she left in order to take over the charitable arm of the mortgage giant, Fannie Mae. Sherman then spent a period of time as a counselor to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and then oversaw Obama’s transition team before leaving to help run a large international consulting firm, according to the newspaper.

After working with clients like Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart, Sherman is poised to join the State Department again, a move that comes at a time when Obama has campaigned on the notion that the revolving door between corporate America and the government should be shut, reported the Times.

Well having worked, er sorry, been in Fannie Mae, at least we know she is well qualified, oops sorry, corrupt enough to fit into whatever government department Oblaimer wants to put her in. Looks like he’s getting all his people in before he shuts that ‘revolving door’

  • Alheimstead

Lovely, another Fannie Mae associate. Why does Obama’s decisions never surprise me anymore?

It pays to be suspicious. First, we have a supreme loser in the W H. Second, people who get appointed to the State Department (execs) tend to be far-left loonies. Third, since The Anointed Boob used to think that the revolving door between corporate America and Uncle Scam should be shut (and he can’t follow his own ADVICE?), it’s not hard to guess what will happen with yet anothet wunderkind at the State Department. A wunderkind appointing wunderkinds. Oh, yeah.
No wonder people don’t understand ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ any longer. DUH!

Just another aid to think for Obama so he wont have to hes all mouth no show

The Under Secretary of Political Affairs is the 3rd ranking position in the State Department. First is the Secretary and then the Deputy Secretary. The Under Secretary is the day to day manager of regional and bilateral policy issues in foreign affairs. Recently involved in the New Start Treaty. PL usually wants those going to Washington to have business experience so why question this persons involvement with Coca Cola? Looks like she could handle several high profile jobs.

Just what we need, another undersecretary. And what the hell is this cabinet office anyway. Office of political affairs? Bull, another wastful position that needs to be eliminated. Wonder how much they are going to pay her for that worthless job.
