This part is the nurture part and everybody acquires beliefs and personality elements this way. These people have minds that can adapt to new inputs as they influence the learning apparatus. These folks learn and change to life’s conditions and imperatives with variable facility. Part of it is they WANT to learn and change appropriately.

Then there is another group. They may be conservatives; they may be liberals. Once they get locked into a mental groove they can’t be influenced away from it except under life or death consequences. Sometimes not even then. It isn’t a matter of courage or conviction; it’s a matter of inability and unwillingness to adapt (that would imply mental effort). Some of these people love to learn new information (especially the sort of stuff like sci-fi, useless and non-practicable info, gossip, info they intend NOT to do anything about, especially stuff that gets the cortisol, adrenalin and the oxcytocin flowwing).
