DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 19 (UPI) — Police in Florida said a 23-year-old babysitter was charged with child neglect for riding in the bed of a pickup truck with an 8-month-old baby in a stroller.
Daytona Beach police said Keyona Nicole Davis was arrested after officers received numerous 911 calls Wednesday about a baby traveling in the back of a 1994 Dodge Ram, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Friday.
The police report said the vehicle traveled through two of Volusia County’s busiest intersections and on two of its most congested roadways, creating a situation that could have led to “serious injury or death of a child.”
Davis was arrested and the driver of the truck, Bennie White, was issued a citation for careless driving.
The child’s mother was called to retrieve the baby.
