SENATH, Mo., Aug. 13 (UPI) — A Senath, Mo., man was charged Saturday in the disappearance and death of a missing 3-year-old girl, police say.
Shawn Morgan, 43, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the death of his neighbor, Breeann Rodriguez, The Dunklin Daily Democrat reported.
The girl disappeared Aug. 6 while riding bikes with her older brother, 5, near their home in Senath.
“Officers from the Senath Police Department, Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, Dunklin County Major Case Squad, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the FBI, have worked around the clock to attempt to locate the girl,” Stephen P. Sokoloff, prosecuting attorney for Dunklin County, said at a press conference.
Authorities are still searching for the girl’s body and her tricycle in the county, the Dunklin County police office said in a release.
Morgan was being held at the Dunklin County Justice Center, awaiting an Aug. 16 court date.
