House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced the three Representatives that would join the three Senators on the Democrat side of the super committee, according to Fox News.
Pelosi and the Democrats appointed Representative James Clyburn (D-S.C.), Representative Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) and Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) to the committee, reported the news source.
These Representatives will join Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.) on the super committee to form the Democrat contingent, The New York Times reported.
Each of Pelosi’s appointments from the House of Representatives have experience with budget appropriations and tax-writing due to their tenure in Congress and high ranking within the Democrat party, reported Fox News.
Representative Dave Camp (R-Mich.) noted that the committee would not be ruling anything out until the first talks would be held. “I am willing to discuss all issues that might help us reduce our short and long-term debt and grow our economy,” Camp, told the news source.
Camp also noted that although the Democrats who were appointed have senior leadership within their party, the Republicans would be willing to work with the group to overhaul the current tax code, according to the Times.
