Just Who, Exactly, Is Delusional?

Just Who, Exactly, Is Delusional?

Isn’t it remarkable how the left is railing on and on about how the Tea Party members of Congress held the debt-ceiling talks hostage by demanding that there be no tax hikes? They have even referred to them as terrorists and suicide bombers, malcontents who ignored the heartfelt pleas of that paragon of unity, Barack Obama, to tone down the rhetoric after the Tucson shootings.

But something doesn’t quite ring true here. If the Tea Party contingency sabotaged the debt-ceiling talks, why would a majority of Republicans be so mad at them?

Democratic nonsense aside, the truth is that Republicans:

  1. Raised the debt ceiling enough to take the pressure off Obama until after the 2012 elections,
  2. Were not able to assure that there will be no tax hikes in the near future (trust me, there will be),
  3. And rather than cutting spending, merely slowed the growth of spending (as Republicans have been doing for decades) from an Obama baseline that would have been unheard of even in the George W. Bush years.

Nevertheless, along comes a real radical, MSNBC’s Martin Bashir, and conducts an anti-Tea Party interview with a left-wing shrink by the name of Stanton Peele. Peele (with the utmost objectivity, of course) told Bashir that Tea Party conservatives are “delusional,” “could become a very angry movement” and “could potentially become a violent movement.”

Really? Funny, but in all the Tea Party events I’ve been to, I haven’t seen anyone who looks like he has the “potential” to become violent. On the other hand, I’ve seen a lot of union thugs who are violent; but, for some reason, neither Bashir nor Peele mentioned any of those guys. Hmm, that’s weird… I wonder why? Must have just slipped their minds.

At one point, Bashir asked Peele: “So you’re saying that they [the Tea Party people] are delusional about the past and adamant about the future?” To which Peele responded, with an air of professional certainty: “They are adamant about achieving something that’s unachievable, which reminds us of a couple of things: It reminds us of delusion and psychosis. It reminds us of addiction, because addicts are seeking something that they can’t have.”

Something they can’t have? Hmm… I thought the Tea Party candidates won the midterm elections in a landslide, so gaining control of the House and increasing the number of Republicans in the Senate turned out to be something they could have.

Could it be that Martin Bashir, Dr. Peele and angry Democrats are the ones who are delusional? Do they not understand that history has repeatedly shown that radicalism and violence are overwhelmingly traits of the far (and sometimes not so far) left?

Nevertheless, even though the Tea Party won the midterm elections for Republicans, a majority of the GOP, both new and old, failed to do as instructed. Would that the accusations of the left were true and that Republicans really had held the debt-ceiling talks hostage to their demands. But it was not to be.

Congresspersons elected by Tea Party voters were not sent to Washington to compromise. They were not sent to Washington to raise the debt ceiling. They were not sent to Washington to “change the terms of the debate.” They were not sent to Washington to show how civilized they could be.

The Tea Party sent Republicans to Washington for the express purpose of cutting government spending.

Which is why it was breathtaking when John Boehner, after he signed on to yet another of the endless bad deals Republicans have made with Democrats over the decades, said, according to GOP officials, on a conference call: “It isn’t the greatest deal in the world, but it shows how much we’ve changed the terms of the debate in this town.” He added that the agreement was “all spending cuts. The White House bid to raise taxes has been shut down.”

Based on his analysis of the Democratic victory over raising the debt ceiling, John Boehner and his fellow sellouts in the Republican Party are the ones who are delusional — not the Tea Party members.

If you want proof that Martin Bashir, Stanton Peele and John Boehner are all delusional, just take a look at the latest Gallup Poll regarding the outcome of the debt-ceiling debate. According to Gallup, 64 percent of Republicans nationwide say they disapprove of the debt-ceiling deal made with the Democrats, and independents disapproved of the deal 50 percent to 33 percent.

On the other side of the coin, Democrats approved of the deal 58 percent to 28 percent, and even liberals approved by a 51 percent to 35 percent margin. The figures pretty much underscore what the end result really was, notwithstanding all the jabber about “changing the terms of the debate.”

I should add that the same Gallup Poll also found that a majority of Americans believe the debt-ceiling deal will make the economy worse. It certainly didn’t do anything to impress either Wall Street investors or Standard & Poor’s.

Would that the Republicans had thrown a temper tantrum (as Democrats and the left-wing media accused them of doing) and gotten their way. If so, we’d be looking at a very panicked Barack Obama today rather than the same cool community organizer who is focused on raising a billion dollars to aid him in anesthetizing the public once again and winning what should be, based on the results of his Presidency, an unwinnable election for him.

Maybe the Tea Party people do need to get violent, given that the left will continue to accuse them of doing so regardless of how civil they act. Even if they throw out of office enough RINOs who still don’t get the Tea Party message and bring in a whole new group of Republicans who are willing to take a chainsaw to the budget (rather than just getting excited about “changing the terms of the debate” in Washington), the violence that Messrs. Bashir and Peele so worry about is sure to happen anyway.

However, violence that results from real (as opposed to imaginary) spending cuts won’t come from the Tea Party folks. It will come from those who are unwilling to give up the good life they’ve become accustomed to as a result of the government’s redistribution-of-wealth policies.

But let’s see the spending cuts first. We can worry about the violence later.

“Maybe the Tea Party people do need to get violent, given that the left will continue to accuse them of doing so regardless of how civil they act.”

They will just stage attacks and blame them on the tea party even if 100% are all perfect angels. We are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. Thats why, under no circumstances, do we pull a Great Britain and turn in our firearms. If libs and the government want our firearms so badly, they can try to take them by force. If we are such a threat, then try to round us up and throw us in FEMA camps or show up in middle class neighborhoods and rip our children in half with 50 calibur machine guns. Just get it over with already.

    • denniso

‘The left will stage attacks and blame it on the tea people’???Wow! Are you out to lunch!!! You want to blame the left for potential violence as you call for it yourself and note that it is you kooks who have the love affair w/ your guns. Are you so uninformed that you don’t even know the fundamental difference between the groups? The rightwing marches to gatherings w/ their loaded guns swinging from their hips to try to intimidate others, while the left(Obama included)still thinks they can talk to you people and come to compromise. Wake up and straighten out your thinking…ALL talk of violence comes from you and your comrades,we want to bring people together…big difference!

Are you afraid of your own shadow? Those tea partiers that you are so afraid of are grannies in wheel chairs and old men with canes.Do you want to see canes added to your list of lethal weapons too?I know they all carry sticks oh yea they are signs but hey they good hurt you right? You are such a wous it amazes me that you even get out from under your bed in the morning.

      • tacamojo

Other than in your tiny brain, where did you see TEA Party members carrying guns?? You need to lay off whatever drugs you’re on and go to rehab. You’re starting to sound like Charlie Sheen and Sean Penn. Please get help. Don’t wait for Obamacare to kick in. Just do it now.

      • denniso

You guys are a bit sensitive and a little touchy, aren’t you? I know it’s difficult for you,but why not try to refute what I say rather than just call me names? You say you can’t do that because you don’t actually know enough to do it? Too bad…

      • bob wire

dennis is an easy target as he parades before you all “alone”.

While you call him coward, weak and any other name you can think of and suggest that you know something about “character” while every single person you support is a flake of the highest calibrator.

Thanks for the humor, how can I ever repaid you for the laughs?

Actually, you are the one who is calling him names.

Been sniffing the Lemon Pledge, again?
Your silly posts are most entertaining. I’ll bet you have a large Obama poster on your bedroom wall. You salute this poster with one hand.

  • Duif100

Let me understand why the Teaparty is a terrorist group that holds Obama and the democrats hostage.

The Teaparty has its views and does not compromise.
Obama and the Dems have their views and do not compromise.
Obama is the only one in the room with veto power and threatens to veto what compromises are reached unless he gets his way.

If both parties do not compromise then why is only one party a terrorist and hostage taker? Since both act the same I would expect both parties to be terrorists and hostage takers.

One person stands out as the terrorist leader with his veto power and that is Osama. What is he doing when he uses the veto threat? Compromising?

The Teaparty was doing exactly what they were elected to do. Has now become a crime and act of terrorism to really represent the voters?

I do not know about you but personally I do not care if I agree with the Teaparty or not, I admire their respect for the voters and their sense of duty and obligation to the voters. That is something new in DC and the established professional career politicians do not know how to handle it. They are scared to death of it.
It might even open up the closet doors and the skeletons might start falling out.

Representing the voters has become criminal in DC. That has to be stopped and Obama and the Dems are working hard at it.

    • 45caliber

      Duif:

You simply do not understand the system or the logic of liberals.

All enemies are terrorists (since that is now the hot button word). Conservatives (not necessarily Republicans) are enemies of the liberals. Therefore all conservatives are terrorists.

The fact that the liberals do exactly the same thing as the conservatives we elect and send to Congress simply doesn’t matter. They are right and we are wrong.

    • Dan az

The tea party is WE the people and they are growing and that’s what scares them. The left here like obumer can only do one thing and thats point fingers at anyone that is for the constitution, the law of the land. The shear ignorance of the left makes me want those fema camps opened.Just so we will have a place to put the troughs to feed them.Pigs have more sense!

    “Just Who, Exactly, Is Delusional?”

If YOU think that government will, or is even capable of solving societal problems (at the point of a gun), YOU are delusional.

Government is only capable of causing problems through the use of force. Polititions glibbly dupe voters who are ALL delusional.

Only ADULTS see government for what it is, an immoral institution that should be abolished just as slavery was.

  • Michael

He is the Only President to never put out a plan – he expected congress to do it for him, and then he threatened to veto every thing that came out of the house – HE”S A LOSER with an IQ of 75

    • tacamojo

Where did you come up with such a high number ? He is an educated fool and hates America.

  • Trent

    Idiotic, this was.

  • MrDave98765

Plain and simple: what the Tea Party wants can be had. All that would have to happen is STOP THE SPENDING! They’re saying “can’t” wanting to convince everyone we can’t.
What simply can’t be had is the freedom to spend like they have been! There’s a train wreck coming!

    • 45caliber

There are a few things that we can’t stop. We can’t stop paying interest on our loans without ruining the credit of the US. We can’t stop paying payments to those on Social Security, etc. We can’t stop paying the military since we need them for protection.

We CAN stop paying the millions of people drawing money from the government for things that we never originally thought needed. We CAN stop paying almost every country in the world foreign aid. We CAN stop paying for things like subsities to various groups. We CAN stop paying money to various charities. We CAN stop programs that will bankrupt us that haven’t even gone into affect yet, such as Oblamacare. We CAN get rid of Departments and agencies that cost us far more than they help, such as the Department of Education, The Department of Energy, etc.

And if we do stop paying all those costs, we could balance the budget.

      • Elevenarrows

45Caliber, as usual, I agree with your post. Your list of things we could stop paying for looks a lot like the list I’ve been telling people. It is mind-boggling to me that we are going bankrupt as a nation, but still sending foreign aid. AND, why are we paying for abortions??? and mosque renovations??? our church saved for years to enlarge our facilities and no one sent us money to upgrade things–why are Muslims getting aid? As for the Dept. of Ed, that’s like taking taxpayer monies to brainwash kids to be good global comrades. Our enemies are within.

      • Dan az

        Overnight!and have money left over!Fact!!!!

  • darkhorse

Like the right doesn’t resort to name calling of the left. We’re called Nazi’s & Commies by you. So here’s a taste of your own medicine my enemies.

    • Bob

Well duh darkhorse, you are nazis and commies, what else would we call you? You are also murderers (abortion), sodomites (support for gays), loafers (welfare), gangsters (unions), and parasites (all the preceeding).

      • skippy

atta boy BOB!!! (do you hear me clapping my hands!!??)

      • bob wire

More like lips flopping is what I hear. ~ I see your illness hasn’t killed you yet Bob.

It’s coming for you~ I encourage you to keep it up and shorten your stay.

It’s not against the law to be sick or insane. I’m patient.

      • Joyce from Loris

I love it, Bob!!! That’s what it’s going to take for the Conservatives to take leadership back! Some backbone. People are going to have to stop trying to be so damn politically correct, and just tell it like it is. Abortion is MURDER, and I don’t want to pay for it. You did a good job!

      • Dan az

        Joyce
Its more than just murder, its a genocide of generations that can never be replaced in time to not be over run by the islamist that breed 8 to 1.The jews during ww2 I think added up to be 3 million and sense Roe vs wade there has been 50 million killed. So that I would call a genocide and they feel we are wrong!go figure!

      • tacamojo

You are absolutely correct. The majority of abortions are performed on people of Color. They are blindly destoying any chance they may have of increasing their race in the USA. Latinos and Middle Easteners are increasing at a much faster rate than Caucasion and Black. Our grandchildren will be living in a culture that is predominately Latino and Arabic. Found this on a website> Who’s having abortions (race)?
While white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely.
Don’t take this as gospel, do your own research and let me know if I’m wrong.

      • bob wire

Dan say; “in time to not be over run by the islamist that breed 8 to 1.”

Well it’s like one Muslim mother said to the other while watching the children play, ” They just blow up so quick anymore”

Dan if you want more pretty white Christian babies, support the effort with your thoughts, deeds and money. We as a nation of while Christian have not been engage and supportive in this matter as we should. We love our own and endure everyone elses. (Try to tell me that is not so)

Children don’t vote! Children don’t pay taxes. Children have been looked upon as merely a consumer and a responsibility to only the people that have them. We have not done enough to help parents and why you see less children.

      • S.C. Murf

        all the way Bob
        up the hill
        airborne

      • Duffy49

In reply to Bob, you are so correct.Have any of yo folks watched the utube about what is going on in Tacoma, Washington? And, I thought Ilinois was of the most corrupt state as well as the greatest Welfare
        State.

    • Barb

Perfect example of what I just stated, the Damndemocrats, Progressives, et al, are just naturally NOT smart! Darkhorse, we are not called terroists we are accused of it and not by bloggers like us but by the President, Vice President and the Crybaby media! BIG difference, moron! Boy there is just no end to these people willingly showing their ignorance and stupidity!

    • Nadzieja Batki

You are what you made yourself. You just don’t like anyone pointing this out.

    • michelleo

IF THE SHOE FITS…….. WHAT DO YOU KNOW???? IT DOES!!!!!!! VIOLA!!!!!

      • libertytrain

I don’t think you meant viola.

  • Raggs

Only ONE way to fix this…. The removal by force if needed everyone in both the house and senate and of course the white house.

    • 45caliber

      Raggs:

The sad thing is that it seems to be coming down to just that – and I REALLY don’t want to see it since a lot of otherwise good people will be killed in the process. It isn’t just the Congress and the President who needs to go – we need to get rid of the professional buerocrats in Washington who are NOT elected, who work for the various agencies, and who guard their positions in ways that even Congressmen are afraid to venture into. People like those in the EPA and in OSHA who believe they have the right to regulate everything you and I can do. People whose names we don’t even know – yet.

  • Barb

I as one Tea Party Supporter was very angry when brainless Biden called the Tea Party “terrorists” but now I think it’s maybe a great thing he has done for the Tea Party along with the crybaby media. We don’t have to be violent to scare the pants off the damndemocrats, progressives and liberals, all we have to do is what comes natural to conservatives, just be smarter! All we have to do is say “BOO” once in a while and the lefties will go berserk which is what comes natural to them. I should say more berserk, they are already insane! We shall prevail my friends!

  • Veritas

The length of new Bills written should be no longer than 20 pages long. Each point of a new law should be tied back to the Constitution and the Bill should focus only on one topic. The “Pork” written into the Bills should be stopped! This would greatly reduce spending, but that would not go over well in this Congress. Change needs to happen! I suggest shorten the length of the bills, and be sure that the font size is at the minimum 12, it has to be double spaced, with 1 inch margins top and bottom.

    • 45caliber

I would also like to see a ruling that NO regulations not voted upon by Congress as a whole can by created by any agencies or individuals, including the President.

Too many laws are created that way and none of us have any say in the matter. Congress even likes it that way since they can say they didn’t have a part of some bad one.

      • Dan az

        45

Here is a list of executive orders that obumer signed into law bypassing the checks and bounds that were in place to stop presidents from becoming dictators.
        http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/executive-orders/2009-obama.html
Now we all know both sides have done this before and that’s the point here so don’t waste our time by taking sides just read the damn orders and see what he has been doing behind closed doors.

      • tacamojo

The first thing our new conservative President should do is revoke/rescind every Executive order Obozo ever signed. I be
lieve presidents can do that. Then call in the Congresional Leaders and tell them how the cow is going to eat the corn for the next 4 years. Call in every agency head and tell them they are all on notice for their jobs. Replace the obvious fools and make the rest justify their position and their agencies agendas. A nice touch would be to televise the FBI arresting the teleprompter and placing it in a cell on the White House front lawn. I know none of this will happen but it helps me sleep at night dreaming of this.

      • tacamojo

All Govt. agencies are out of control. They are their own little empires with their own kings and queens. Every agency should be downsized by 50% and made to justify their existance every year before being refunded.

  • Lee

Consider this. In a game of tug of war. How is it that the loser gets blamed for pulling too hard? Isn’t it the winner that stubbornly resisted. Does the winning team say “you pulled too hard – no fair!. In this topsy turvy world of ours – Sure. What better way to get rid of the opposition once and for all.

Of course, the blame game is to discredit anyone that does not blindly throw in the towel. Very much like the bully who demands my lunch bucket, then cries “he started it!” if I refuse. They say that the lessons of life are learned in kindergarten. Then why of why, don’t we remember any of them?

As a “tea party” patriot, we lost that round, but next time there will be more patriots on our side, and we’ll keep adding more until we win, because we can’t lose Our America. That’s the goal.

    • tacamojo

Not everyone went to Kindergarten. Most require a legitimate birth certificate. Anyone who doesn’t support the major philosophy of the TEA party cannot call themselves a true patriotic American. They may be a resident of America but not a true American. Shame on the fools who voted this classless, clueless clown into office. Shame also on anyone who keeps voting for the same losers, like Pelosi and Reid and numerous other anti-Americans back into office term after term.

    • Sadly Wiser

Lee, why do you (and some of the others) insist that the Tea Party lost? True, we didn’t get what we WANTED, but certainly the battlefield has been shifted in our favor. And hopefully more independents, rinos, & Reagan Democrats will join the tug of war to bring this country back to where we should be. The socialists’ agenda took decades to get us to this point–it was their strategy. The Republicans were only thinking tactics until the Tea Party came along. Now that we’ve got everyone’s attention we need to take advantage of every opportunity we get, but be pragmatic at the end of the day with whatever gains we can make. We can best take this country back by steady persistence with our agenda. The nation is looking for people of conviction.

As one of our Patriots once said, “I have not yet begun to fight”.

  • SteveM

Let’s remember the Democrats wanted to increase the debt limit, leave out spending cuts, raise taxes, AND blame it all on the Republican Tea Party-ers! Those that think otherwise need to take off the rose colored glasses and read the facts! S&P would have reduced our rating to Junk in that case! Lay this all where it belongs: Obama can’t just sit in the White House and say “present” anymore. Both sides were looking to him for guidance and came up empty. We need to end this nightmare in 2012!!

    • Susan

SteveM I pray we make it to 2012.

    • Joyce from Loris

Obama is not just sitting in the White House. Didn’t you hear? After S&P down graded our credit rating, Obama and 4 friends jump on the White House helicopter and flew off for a GOLF GAME. He sure has his priorities in order, doesn’t he? Makes me proud.

    • tacamojo

Anyone looking to Obozo for guidance or leadership is a freekin idiot. This clown couldn’t lead himself out of a paper bag even if the instructions were printed on the inside. He is a loser and is deliberately destoying our great country.

  • Ray Mason

You guys/girls talk a lot. Even liberals know that Harry Reid and his union buddies stole the last election in Nevada. And I know that the Florida hanging chad drives the democrats crazy, and no, Bush did not steal the election. If any of you idiots will slow down for a moment and take at look at what is happening in the UK right now with riots in the streets, then you MAY realize that it’s coming to America and if we don’t stop wasting our resources, letting the government run wild and stop being blind to what Obama is doing, then guess what–martial law, blood in the streets of America and our own cute dictator, Sharia Law and all. Ladies, get your burkas ready, the color of your choice, as long as they are black. Ray

    • Joyce from Loris

Guess you didn’t hear about what happened at the Wisconsin State Fair? Hundreds and hundreds of young black people were attacking white people at the fair. They even attacked the police officers, putting two of them in a hospital. It was clearly a black on white attack, according to the eye witnesses. So, it has already started in American, just has not escalated to that level YET.

    • 45caliber

      Ray:

Most of the violence in England right now is related to robbery of the businesses. They use tweets to set up an attack on a business. The car burnings, etc. are simply ways to slow down the police. It has happened at least once here in the US a few weeks ago when a group of teens did the same. They all converged on a store and at the same pre-arranged time, began to rob it, taking everything they could carry. The store clerks and the police had very little chance of stopping it simply due to the number of people involved. Until someone starts shooting them, it will continue both here and in England. (And I expect the shooters to be the ones punished rather than the robbers.)

      • Joyce from Loris

I agree. And they label these thieves as “minority, proverty stricken”, yet they have blackberries? Yes, government issued cell phones, computers, etc. We are PAYING for these people’s ability to flash mob, and being FORCED to pay by our own government. You are right, if people start shooting them, the people will be the ones blamed and probably imprisoned, simply for trying to protect themselves and their property.

      • tacamojo

Wild animals need to be shot when they invade civilized space. A good culling would put a stop to a lot of this BS.

      • Kate8

tacamojo – Culling is exactly what this is about. They are just fanning the flames of hatred so we kill each other off.

  • Capitalist at Birth

The violence has already started and will get much worse. Stay out of the Black and Hispanic areas if you can, particularly at night. I live 35 miles WSW from the Arch in St. Louis. We have a private sub-division that has been quite and peaceful until 2009. We had 3 burglaries and cases of vandalism in 19 years. We have had 10 in the last 18 months. What is that an indication of? Be vigilant and prepare to defend your family and property. The war is coming to your neighborhood.

    • mark

Right, fear and hate, hate and fear. That is all you guys ever have to sell. You have nothing else. The republic of fear is your home, castle, and mindset. Every cuckoo clock rumour, ever viral hoax is seized upon as absolute reality. Obama is killing all the old people! The UN is going to take over the United States! Obama will declare martial law and cancel the 2012 election! They’re minting a new Amero coin. The NAFTA highway is up and running. Agenda 21 is in effect! Let’s all meet at Roswell and wait for the Martians! Good grief….

      • DaveH

That coming from a guy who thinks Mr. Global Warming would have set our country in the right direction. Dream on, Mark.
In his last year Bush spent $2.9 Trillion. Bad.
In 2010 Obama spent $3.6 Trillion. Worse.
In the entire 8 years of Bush’s presidency the National Debt increased $5 Trillion. Bad.
In the first 2 and 1/2 years of Obama’s presidency, the National Debt has increased by $3.9 Trillion. That’s $1.5 Trillion a year. At that rate in eight years of Obama the National Debt will have increased by $12 Trillion. Worse. Much Worse.

mark you can keep your head stuck up your a$$ for eternity but it won’t change the facts about whats taking place. It’s like the nose on your face, it’s there, you can see it. Same same with the crime, Govt. lying, cheating, morality all of it going down the tubes. It’s going on right in front of your face and still you won’t believe, still you fail to see it. You are part of the problem and not the solution. Please make that popping sound and get some fresh air, it is really very good for the brain.

      • Ellen

Mark, It’s funny that this would be your response about crime since one of comcast.net’s headline news items today is about flash mobs causing problems, destroying property, injuring people, and committing crimes. Many cities have been experiencing increased violence for several months now perpetrated by groups of people. It’s national news, not a right wing conspiracy.

Capitalist your post reminds me I was in detroit with a load of furniture and was trying to get info. on the stores location so I could park for the night and unload next morning when a voice came on my cb obviously from a black. he said hey man I know you can tell by my voice who I am. and I wouldn’t park there for the night. you need to go to a truck stop and deliver in the morning. trust me I went to a truck stop,

I lived in the Detroit area from January 1971 through July 1973. It was a sad place then. It is sadder today. That is the main reason I left. The decline in moral values and the hateful attitude of the blacks that lived there.

As you do away with social programs like welfare, food stamps, medicade and planned parenthood this will continue. Being so poor that you can’t afford food can make people do things they wouldn’t regularly do.

      • Kate8

Amy – There’s also a lot of welfare fraud going on.

There are many who grew up on assistance and it is a way of life. They would never consider going to work.

It is the government which is crushing jobs, and enticing illegals to come and take what few are left. The same government telling us we must be “compassionate” and take care of the poor through confiscation of what little wealth many of us have managed to keep.

If government would back off and let the market grow and thrive, there would be jobs. But that is not how they accomplish their real goal: the destruction of America.

God help us is the Tea Party is our last hope.

Who are you going to take the country back from? Right now it looks like the wealthy people and corporations own it. After all they just got their way. No tax increases, and what looks to be cuts in social security and medicare. So when you say you’re going to take it back I assume you mean take it back from the rich who bought their way into government.

NEVER make a deal with Democrats! They NEVER honor any deal. Reagan got screwed; GHW Bush got screwed. They get what they want and renege on their end. Rebuplicans will not succeed in gaining control of the country and the White House if they continue to “reach across the aisle” and, the most futile of all: Try to please the media! They have to stand steadfast and give a double middle finger to Chris Matthews et al.

  • Bob

Considering all the parallels between obama and hitler, we might be seeing the creation of a new class of people who can be persecuted without fear just as the Jews were persecuted in democrat, I mean Nazi, germany. I am always amazed at how lieberals can get away with accusing conservatives of “hate” speech and name calling when we see them induldging in this every time they don’t get their way. The fact is, when the conservatives use harsh terms to describe lieberalss, they are merely telling the truth. When lieberals use harsh terms like “terrorist”; they are telling a lie. The fact that there is a democrat voter left anywhere in this country speaks to the failure of our school system to teach critical thinking. The democrats are destroying America morally, spiritually, and economically. They have created a class of worthless tax-consumers whose only goal in life is to get high and fornicate. We can now see the end result of this in London as Britian’s counterparts to these worthless drones are rioting and burning this once great city down – coming soon to America thanks to the democrat party.

  • Patticake

Mr. Ringer, as always, you are so right on target! The truth can be hard to swallow when we had high hopes that the new people we sent to DC would really make a difference and hold the debt ceiling… so I’m thinking the international powers are really the ones controlling congress – even the new members. They are pushing us to a socilist society, bringing down America as the world leader, and gaining total control over us financially in order to further benefit their own lifestyles. There will be higher taxes, more government control, and less incentive for small business and enteprenures in the US. We need to abolish NAFTA, tax the heck out of imports, quit sending aid to foreign countries that hate us, quit the free ride for illegal aliens domestically and deport them, then start taking care of our own people. Bring our troops home to defend our borders. Decrease big government; get rid of the czars. There are SO many things we could do to make America strong again! Where are the patriots in congress? No, the Tea Party is not the problem – the Tea Party is the beginning of the solution!

Do you remember the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act put in place by H. Hoover? Which deepened the depression, and caused a world wide trade war that lasted until WWII. Trade Wars inevitably lead to shooting wars. The last numbers I saw on NAFTA resulted in an increase in our exports. Can you prove otherwise?

    • http://personalliberty.com JS

Patticake, I could not agree with you more on just about every comment you made, the one thing you missed though is about all of these young people collecting welfare, welfare is supposed to be for people who need alittle extra help, not for people who want to sit around drinking and smoking pot all day. For anyone collecting welfare, they should be made to drug test once a month. I’m sick and tired of having to work 40+ hours a week so we can pay for these low life losers to make babies and party all day.

    • Ellen

Dave, Repubs had no choice. Obama was holding numerous press conferences claiming our economy would fall apart because the Repubs wouldn’t give up on avoiding taxes on the rich. Of course, anyone with an ounce of common sense knows Obama & the Dems were the ones about to cause the default, but we have many people who still believe Obama’s lies and distortions. The ridiculous part is that S&P stated we needed $4 trillion in spending cuts and no taxes or they would lower the rating. Yet, Obama & the Dems kept pushing for taxes. Obama claims that those who can afford a tax increase should pay their fair share. Those people are already paying far more than their fair share and who is to say that all these people can afford a tax increase? Obama starts his rich category at people making $200,000 per year ($250,000 for a couple). That is upper middle income and is not rich. I feel it’s safe to say they are not millionaires, billionaires, jet owners, or any of the other ridiculous categories preached by Obama. As for delusional, that is one of the markers of people with Obama’s affliction.

      • denniso

Ellen, You’re flat out wrong. It was the Repubs, pushed by the goofy and clueless tea people, who connected the raising of the debt ceiling to spending cuts, not to mention trying for a stupid balanced budget ammendment. The budget/debt talks can and should be ongoing in the country w/o holding the entire economy hostage to the debt ceiling, which is not in the constitution and is probably unconstitutional. The country can not just ‘stop spending’,especially in the largest recession in 80 yrs…a recession that began under Bush, you should remember. Our economy is dependent upon consummer spending and laying off huge numbers of workers, even gov’t workers, when we are already experiencing lagging consumption is a sure prescription for disaster.

No one who has no clue about how our economy actually works should imagine that they know what we should do.

      • Nadzieja Batki

So now you are the economic expert and if we put you in power you would solve all the economic and social ills of this country.

      • Ellen

Denniso, You should read up on what the S&P required. The root of our problem is the jobs that have left the country. In an effort to keep the economy going along, more people were encouraged to buy houses – whether or not they could afford them – because construction was our largest manufacturing industry and we needed to keep it going. When you distort things like this you will end up with trouble. We did. We had inflated real estate prices and junk mortgages. We were given cheap credit so we would keep buying since 70% of our economy is consumer spending. Again, we had a distorted system since people spent more than they could afford and now want debt relief. All this was done to avoid a recession, but we ended up with a worse recession. You want the govt to keep borrowing $.45 of every $1 it spends so it won’t have to cut spending. This is another distortion, as it has to end somewhere. We are $14 trillion in debt. Do you think continuing to borrow at this rate will ever fix that? Of course not; it will only make it worse. Major spending cuts were required by S&P to avoid a downgrade and they weren’t done. Major spending cuts are our only way out of this mess. First on the cutting block: our abused welfare system that costs over $1 trillion per year.

      • Vagabond

Ellen IDIOTS do not understand never have never will. they live in their own little dream world drawing their wellfare and think it will never end. thats why obama loves them so,

      • texastwin827

Ellen, our spending cuts should start in this order:

        1) Foreign Aid…especially to countries in the Middle East who are not, nor will they ever be, our “friends”. Their societies are corrupt beyond even what our own is. Their emphasis is on islamic rule, thus making a democracy impossible. Long after we leave these countries, their people will remain oppressed by a few who have power. Nothing we do will change that and we’ve already given way too many lifes of our young men/women, in an attempt to change it.

        2) Close ALL miltary bases, in Europe, except those in the UK. Time after time, countries like Germany & France have proven they have no loyalties to the US, so it’s time their own men/women defend their countries…ALONE. With today’s Army, entire units can be moved within a matter of a couple of weeks, anywhere in the world that we are needed, so to continue to be a presence in our so called “allies” lands is an expense we shouldn’t pay. Better to put those same troops on our own borders to assist the border patrol in securing our own nation.

        2) Excess Government spending on stuff that costs about 1000% less than what we pay for it. Most companies have REAL purchasing agents that get bids on items and don’t rubber stamp purchases regardless of the price. Why, pray tell me, does the US Govt. pay $1,000 for the EXACT item that we consumers could buy retail for maybe $10 max?

        3) Welfare needs a major overhaul. I’ll be the first person to say I believe in helping someone who really needs it. Americans have a long history of helping their neighbors, from our first beginnings (i.e. barn raisings, helping neighbors plow fields, etc). That said, you do no one a favor by not making them earn it, just as those of us who work “earn” our paychecks. The current system is designed to encourage dependancy, not independence.

When we’ve accomplished that, then (and only then) we can determine where other cuts need to be made.

      • denniso

Ellen, S & P singled out Repubs specifically in blocking any increase in revenues as a major reason we can’t fix the problem. Welfare does not cost a trillion/yr. I never have said we shouldn’t cut spending, but it depends on what and how much and how soon…every person who can do rudimentary math knows that we can’t just cut our way out the debt, and the economy cannot sustain major immediate cuts.

      • DaveH

Obviously, Denniso, you don’t know rudimentary math.
Cutting spending is what we need to do. Anybody with rudimentary observation skills knows that when you let Politicians have more money, they spend more money. And it’s not their money in the first place to help themselves to.
Those of you who feign generosity and compassion should show us what you’re made of and donate your money to the Government. But our money is not yours to donate.
We somehow got along with Federal Government spending of $2.2 Trillion in 2003, my rudimentary math skill tells me we can do it again.

      • DaveH

      • Autism Dad

Wow… Really people? The S & P, who supported and backed the bailout in 2008 with a AAA rating of approval, is the same outfit that now lowers a credit rating of the US to AA+, in effect lowering the cost of stocks and securities. Now they (their investors) can buy up FED securities at a lower rate and control even more of the wealth of the country. The same outfit that backed the toxic mortgages and allowed the real estate market to balloon out of control. All the while you people are having a pissing contest over who is more at fault, republican, tea-party, or democrat. Stop pointing fingers at each other for 30 seconds and wake up! The economy is about to take a deeper nose dive and the ultra-rich are about to pad their bank accounts again with your money. Just once, I would like a suggestion that actually helps stop this from happening. I’d give one if I even had a clue at where to begin. This effort to play the part of innocent bystanders , few will buy, where they be of right or left.

        Denniso,

I would think that TP’ers are far superior to you and your kind(Progressives) when it comes to intelligence and common sense. You spew your hatred at people you have no clue about and present youself as some expert on hows things should work, economically. Obviously you understand VERY little about economics. You were probably educated by the same liberal fools that indoctrinated BO.

Given the aforesaid, I think YOU best fit the following quote and will never understand why, we are where we are, in America today. We do but YOU never will, because you’re just plain FOOLISH, and we know it.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of
entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the Presidency.

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama,
who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the
fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that
        made him their prince.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

I think you fit this category VERY well.

      • wandamurline

The Demorats were using scare tactics and people were taking it on like it was the truth….so, the Republicans made the best deal they could and now the Dems got what they wanted….the debt ceiling raised. Then, that very day, we got downgraded credit rating….so it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see who is to blame….but, instead of taking responsibility for the downgrade, as usual, the Demorats are blaming everyone else…in Obama’s speech, he is still blaming Bush … again saying that he inherited this mess….well, he knew what the mess was when he ran for the position and he is the one that said he could fix it…of course, he had no ideal how to fix it…he only had a teleprompter reading someone else’s speech. The Demorats go to the DNC every week to get their new words of attack, and this week, the words are “tea party downgrade” … they have no plan, no budget which is over 2 years late, just words to attack. This is their platform….they are the party of “Words no Remedies”.

        2.) It’s the TP’ers!!! They did it!!!
3.) It’s the Christians!!! They did it!!!!
4.) We are just stupid because we just don’t get it.

etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

You have become the foolish party of stupidity and YOUR President proves that fact!

      • denniso

It’s really pretty simple, and I have never tried to fool any of you rightwingers, rather I have tried to inform and discuss thigs w/ you people…and that’s the problem, you have no desire to discuss anything because either your fundamentalist religion or politics have you convinced that you are perfectly right about absolutely everything. Not surprising, because that’s essentially the definition of fundamentalism…you have much in common w/ your sworn enemies, the radical Muslims, who also have no wish to discuss anything.

The rightwing, along w/ the rightwing Christians, clearly have the desire to return this country to the early 1900′s. They can’t stand equal rights for women,Blacks,Hispanics, gays…they want corporations to run the country, get rid of decent wages for working people, privatise our public lands so we can exploit them for money, enslave women as baby factories, dump the progress we’ve made in clean air/water,labor laws including child labor…now, I also know that many rightwingers don’t really know that they are being driven and used by corporate power to acheive some of these things, that they think they are standing up for the common worker, for instance, because they have fallen for the propoganda and lies of the corporate leaders and rightwing demagogues…so that much of the rightwing support ‘to take back the country’ is actually based on myths and deception. That makes those rightwingers pitiable and sad,but still destructive to a modern, sane, tolerant and healthy country.

*** When your leader NO longer listen to you, it’s a good bet because the VOTING SYSTEM IS RIDGED.

In 2008, our voting system became ELECTRONIC, thereby susceptible to voting fraud through ELECTRONIC TAMPERING.

Watch this video COMPUTERIZED ELECTION FRAUD:

        http://www.brasschecktv.com/videos/electionfraudintheusa/computerized-election-fraud.html

*** FOR THOSE WHO SELL US PROPAGANDA TO MAKE US THINK VOTER FRAUD CAN NOT BE DONE – YES IT MOST DEFINITELY CAN BE DONE in many ways, especially BY ELECTRONIC MANIPULATION.

Unless you have the hard copies of the ballots, so they can be recounted as it was during the Bush election 2004, otherwise it becomes very difficult to prove voter fraud.

Democrats verified votes during and after the 2004 election. The independent newspapers also did a recount, and Bush won legitimately.

*** Without the hard copies which enabled to do the reccount, Bush would not have been able to prove he won!!!!

      • People’s Rights

The tea party is NOT a part of the Republican Party. The TEA party’s platform WAS DERIVED from the REPUBLICAN Party’s platform, therefore there is not much difference at all. If a candidate, he/she is a Republican; they can not claim they are a Tea Party candidate.

They sound more like an OPPORTUNIST. We see from the last “Debt Ceiling” issue, how the Tea Party operates.

Let see who can walk the walk and talk the talk.

      • People’s Rights

Mr. Ringer, since you brought it up I just wanted everybody to have a chance to see the complete picture. I feel you failed us again. You did not mention a lot of important facts:

        In NOVEMBER 2011

        1. the Republican Party won the lower house by a landslide.

        2. the Republican Party won the governor seats by a landslide.

        3. but, the Democrat Party won the Senate seats which CONTROL the final say and can overturn (overrule) the president and the lower house (the Republican Party).

*** It’s very strange, the Republican Party won it all except for that which counts – THE SENATE.

*** WHY?? Could this possibly because of ELECTRONIC VOTING again?
Anywhere electronic voting was used since 2008, Democrats won. Or there were a lot of problems.

      • SJvet

The Senate can’t override anything the house passes. It can vote to not pass legislation, but if the Republicans (and the Tea Party) voted to not raise the debt ceiling, there’s nothing that the Democrats or this moron in the Oval Office could do about it.

      • Ellen

The Senate would’ve lost more seats had more been up for re-election. Unfortunately, because of 6 year terms (vs 2 years in the House) many couldn’t be voted out.

      • http://theharalsoncountyt.e.a.partypatriots.com Tea Partier

I fail to see how pushing for fiscal responsibility is a bad thing? The Tea Party candidates elected to the House and to the Senate were put there to fix this out-of-control spending. True, they only control the House. And there are still too many old-school republicans who only want to Play Politics just like they always have (Saxby Chambliss, this means YOU!)So we do what we can since we do not control the Senate – yet.

      • Kate8

SJvet – Democrats aren’t letting the Constitutional procedures get in their way anymore. If they can’t get what they want passed throught Congress, O just issues an EO or appoints a new czar.

Of course, Republicans aren’t really trying to stop them. That’s why their all trying to villify the TeaParty.

The destruction of America is nearly complete, and they are tasting blood. In fact, it’s a near feeding-frenzy.

      • eddie47d

The Republicans are Tea Party light and the Tea Party will mostly vote Republicans so there isn’t much difference. When the Tea Party name is actually on the ballot then folks can differentiate a little better. Until then they are only using each other such as in good cop bad cop.

      • ron

For some reason I am missing your point because as I remember it was the highest court in the land that gave the election to Bush. If there were ever a case of voter fruad it was Bush v Gore. Now you say that the 08 elections were rigged? I think not.

      • Insurgent

Were all your special education classes difficult?

      • USAF VET

Ron, the final tally in Fla, even after the Supreme Court stated that there was no need to keep counting showed that Bushes count was higher than that of Jr’s so by Electoral vote BUSH WON. Get over it.

      • Capitalist at Birth

Prove it. The Supreme Court ruled that the recount after recount were an attempt to fraudulently overturn the election results. Get your facts straight. Bush won fair and square.

      • SJvet

Bush won by a pretty big margin and Owl Gore was in the limo on his way to concede when he got a phone call from the great communist draft dodger, bubba, who told him not to concede and all of a sudden Bush wasn’t winning by as much as the totals showed. bubba and the present buffoon have stunk up the White House and DC like never before.

      • Bob

No ron, you’re not thinking. Voter fraud is standard operating procedure in democrat controlled cesspools like St. Clair County, IL where I live. Every time a Republican starts to pull ahead, ballots magically appear from nowhere. When the morons at Fools, Buffoons & Idiots (FBI) could no longer ignore the fraud, they sent a low-level stooge to prison for a couple of years. The local democrats gave him a going away party; a party attending by crooked judges and the crooked board members. Bush won fair and square regardless of what the liars of the democrats say.

      • http://personalliberty Alice

With every liberal Democrat politician, lawyer and media representative counting and recounting the votes Bush won the election. With liberal lawyers trying to discount votes from the military and eyeing so-called “chads”, Bush still won the election. The only way to get a hanging chad is to stuff more than one ballot into the voting machine. With all that, Bush still won. In that case, leftist attempts to hijack an election failed. They still make it work in places like Chicago.

      • mark

Ron, you are right. The 2000 presidential election was one of the most egregious cases of fraud in our history, sanctioned by the conservative majority of the Supreme Court. Worse, we are living with the tragic consequences of that decision today. I doubt that a Gore administration would have invaded Iraq, given those huge tax cuts to the rich, or allowed such massive deregulation of our financial sector that helped lead to the 2008 collapse and subsequent recession. Also by avoiding a senseless war with Iraq, a Gore administration would have had the resources to make a really serious effort in Afghanistan early on that might have gotten Bin Laden in late 2001 and brought some stability to that nation that was starved of U.S. resources for several years under Bush because of the mindless Iraq War. It makes my heart sick for the American people when I ponder the consequences of so many of Dubya’s decisions that might have been avoided under a President Gore.

      • eddie47d

Hang in there Ron for California just voted in a law that only popular votes count in all elections. If that will be true then Gore would have won. Republicans have their own shenanigans to live with although they will never admit it. I’m referring to the Wisconsin vote today. Americans for Prosperity (Koch affiliate)Mailed out absentee ballots to Democrats for the vote on Aug 9th. The problem was is that they told the Democrats to return those ballots by Aug 11th. Which would be two days after the election. So they have their own bag of tricks. On top of that the return address on those absentee ballots doesn’t even exist.Another question that should have been brought up why did the Republicans use that Democrat mailing list? I’m not sure if this would be considered a double Con or a triple Con. All they come up with to use against Democrats is in their arguments is the dead voter and Harry Reid cheated. No proof but it all sounds good to them.

      • Amy

        Dear Sir,

After all the recounts in Florida it was discovered that Al Gore actually won the popular vote. However the Supreme Court appointed Bush as President. He was never actually elected to office. He was appointed.

      • Bob

On what planet did that happen?

      • denniso

Amy is exactly right…Bush was an illegitimate president from the beginning, and the rightwing can only whine and lie about Obama being so.

The tea party is a collection of know nothings who have no idea how the economy or the country works. They repeat that the country has to operate like a family does, all the while ignoring the fact that every family actually does function w/ ongoing debt, and a country is not a family anyway. Deficit spending has to be available to countries when necessary. The tea people also conveniently forget that Bush and the Repubs did the most to put us into this dire situation w/ unfunded, unending wars, tax cuts for the rich, medicare drug plan…again all unpaid for in the budget.

Their real plan is to wreck gov’t so we can return to the ‘good old days’ of 100 yrs ago, when we had almost no regulation of big business,no safety net for the less fortunate,no labor laws,no pollution laws,no anti discrimination laws, and big corporations essentially owned America and the gov’t.

The majority of the people will not fall for the blatant attempt by the tea drinkers and others of the rightwing to send us back to the dark ages.

      • http://personalliberty Alice

Wrong. Try checking the facts, again. South Florida tried to steal the election from the rest of us, but, failed. Fortunately, truth prevailed in Florida. Not so in states like Illinois. Socialist states are going broke or are already broke. Conservative states still have mostly stable economies. Where the economies are in trouble, conservative leaders are working on fixes. Funny, states like California have been socialistic for decades and want the rest of the country to underwrite them so they can continue the policies that have destroyed their economy. Like trying to find ones way out of a neighborhood by going around the block again and again.

Despite all the illegal alien Democrat voters, all the felon Democrat voters, all the dead Democrat voters, Bush still won. Despite massive Democrat efforts, including a 26-page guide on how to negate Military votes, Bush still won. He may not have been a good president, but we can all be thankful that we averted the disaster of “Man Bear Pig”. (at least we postponed it until the election of Owebma)

      • denniso

Even discounting what went on in Florida,Bush still lost the election in the total vote count. He ‘won’ the electoral college after the conservative Court stopped the counting in FL,but still didn’t win the popular vote. More people voted for Gore than Bush. Now,I wonder how you rightwingers would have responded if Obama hadn’t won the popular vote and was only elected by the electoral college? Do most of you rightwingers even understand how the electoral college works?

      • texastwin827

denniso…you are so very WRONG! This country IS very much like a family. Before you decide to belittle my opinion, please know that I spend over 40 yrs in accounting, so it’s a subject I’m fairly familiar with.

Do I think there should be some tax increases…yes, by closing a bunch of “loopholes” that allow corporations to have record profits but pay not one dime in taxes. We can start with the “loopholes” that allow corporations to profit, greatly I might add, from sending jobs overseas, for one. Only an idiot would think that this so called “one world economy” benefits anyone in the US. What it does do is drive the US wages down, if you are lucky enough to be employed. There is no way a US company can compete with the low wages paid to Chinese or 3rd world country employees. One only has to look at our trade deficits to realize, we aren’t benefitting.

If a family is spending (on credit) 10 times what they earn they will also have a deficit, just as our country does. Eventually, that same family will end up in Bankruptcy Court as it will become impossible for them to pay even the interest, let alone the principal, on their debt. That is exactly what has happened to the US. Raising the debt ceiling accomplished only one thing…we can now legally accumulate more debt. However, while we may still be able to pay the interest on that debt, that doesn’t mean we have the revenue to pay the principal, and as we’ve seen, the end result was a downgrade of our credit score, just as a family’s credit score drops when they are too indebited, compared to their income (revenue).

Economics is economics, regardless of whether it’s an individual, a company or a country. If you think it’s not the same, then you are living in lala land.

      • moonbeam

Amy is correct. I distinctly remember reading somewhere that Gore won the popular vote and Bush was “appointed” into office by a judge that Bush himself put in. I recall being very pissed about it and finally, finally realized our votes really don’t mean jack squat.

        FACT:

The popular vote was won by Gore-Lieberman by 543,816 votes.
        http://americanhistory.about.com/od/elections/p/election2000.htm

We got cluster screwed then and has been the status quo for 11 freaking years. Don’t know about you guys, but I am damn sore and bleeding as we sail into hell with gasoline drawers on.

      • Kate8

Amy – In case you missed that class, American presidents are not elected by popular vote. They are elected through the electoral college.

You liberals also fail to recall that Clinton did not win the popular vote, either. Was he also appointed? Yes, by the EC. But I have never once heard a liberal bemoan that fact.

      • Amy

        Dear Kate8,

You do try hard. You are correct, it is possible to win the popular vote and lose the presidential election. But Clinton won the popular vote and the Electoral College

        Clinton – Popular Vote – 44,909,806
        Bush – Popular Vote – 39,104,550
        Perot – Popular Vote – 19,743,821

        Clinton – Electoral vote – 370
        Bush – Electoral Vote – 168
        Perot Electoral Vote – 0

I think what you ment was that Clinton didn’t receive more than 50% of the popular vote. That was because it was divied among 3 canidates.

      • Amy

        Gore Won Florida!

On November 27, Republican Secretary of State Katherine Harris officially certified George W. Bush as the “winner” in Florida by 537 votes.

Since that date, independent investigations by the media have revealed that many illegal votes were counted – while many legal votes were not.

If the votes in Florida had been counted by non-partisan election officials in compliance with the law, Gore would have won Florida.
George W. Bush, his brother Governor Jeb Bush, Secretary of State Katherine Harris, a partisan Republican majority on the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Republican-owned media did everything in their power to prevent a fair and legal count of the votes.

In other words, these Republicans used their enormous power to steal the Presidency of the United States

The United States presidential election of 2000 was a contest between Republican candidate George W. Bush, then-governor of Texas and son of former president George H. W. Bush (1989–1993), and Democratic candidate Al Gore, then-Vice President.

Bill Clinton, the incumbent President, was vacating the position after serving the maximum two terms allowed by the Twenty-second Amendment. Bush narrowly won the November 7 election, with 271 electoral votes to Gore’s 266 (with one elector abstaining in the official tally).

The election was noteworthy for a controversy over the awarding of Florida’s 25 electoral votes, the subsequent recount process in that state, and the unusual event of the winning candidate having received fewer popular votes than the runner-up.[1] It was the fourth election in which the electoral vote did not reflect the popular vote.

      • denniso

Almost all families have debt, some have a lot,and if their cash flow is dependable they can function w/ debt. All countries have debt, and maybe too much, but having debt is not the end of the world. We have to continue to borrow even as we pay down the debt, otherwise we don’t function as a 1st world country w/ the largest military in the history of the world. Why can’t the rightwing accept that we also have to cut our huge military budget? Why no peep about bringing our overseas soldiers home from Germany,England, japan…?

Clinton actually did win the popular vote, both times…what he didn’t get was a majority(over 50%) because Ross Perot was in the race and took enough votes out to deny Clinton a majority…doesn’t matter because He still won the most votes of the three candidates.

There are alot of factors involved in all state economies and maybe they need to diversify even more.

Gore has done quite good for himself. He didn’t need to become president to pass global warming laws. He is now a billionaire and owns many green companies. Yes as president he would have made money but no where near as much as he has made.
The tea party is a movement to take back government from the rich. Most rich are democrates. The rich blind the poor with some hand outs so they think the democrates are fair. The poor are now a bigger class then ever before. So the democrates blame the republicans. Odd that the democates have an army of unions that will attack any threat, look at Wisconsin and other northern states. Do not cross the union they have and will take people out…

Repeating the socialist party line drivel, propaganda being espoused by the liberal media does not grant nor assure any validity to their ceaseless unintelligible vituperation’s. It merely substantiates the current political reach for absolute control both physically and mentally of America’s mentally under equipped leftists and progressives, the Democratic socialists and the Obama regime. At this juncture it is apparent that there are more anti-Americans(socialist democrats and progressives) than one would have initially suspected. That being said, those in support of liberty and justice for all, the patriots of our Republic, will overcome this temporary insanity fostered by George Soros, William Jefferson Clinton, Albert Gore, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank et al and victoriously return America to its just position as the home of the brave and the land of the free. Free from debt, free from socialists attacks from the Democratic party. Free from the adverse effects of special interests groups, free from the tyranny of political and religious groups attempting to leverage their laws and beliefs upon every American without freedom of choice. Free from the lunatic anchor types and tinseltown moguls challenged to understand truth and democracy. The liberal media, Matthews, Williams et al. God bless the United States of America.

      • JimRed

Paper ballots have been rigged for years, as well. Only voter ID and some sort of system permitting only one vote per individual (maybe the Iraqi style purple finger?) plus matching the number of votes cast to voters present at each polling place can limit fraud. Add to that some sort of security for the ballots and all election materials; if they are out of the chain of custody, they become invalid.

Oh, wait a minute; then the fraudsters will sign up to work conservative districts, make sure the chain of custody is compromised and invalidate their votes. Criminals will always find a way…

      • FreedomFighter

Vigilance, involvement, of the Conservative movement is mandatory to minimize the fraud. Scrutiny – verification and oversight. Make it hard to cheat, and then put those caught in jail. Make the dirty deed, fraught with danger and risk high thru legal penalty.
