Malaysian Landslide Kills Seven
BRINCHANG, Malaysia, Aug. 8 (UPI) — A landslide that buried three homes in a public housing complex in Malaysia’s Cameron Highlands killed seven people and injured two, a local official said.
The official said heavy rains triggered the landslide Sunday at the Sungai Ruil Orang Asli housing project along a hillside in the city of Brinchang, Bernama reported Monday.
“All search and rescue operations had been stopped,” public safety official Wan Zahari Wan Busu said. “However, police are still maintaining security operations in the area.”
