Carney: ‘The White House Doesn’t Create Jobs’
August 5, 2011 by Personal Liberty News Desk
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney faced multiple tough questions about the economy and job creation at Thursday’s press briefing. However, when pressed on jobs, he gave a very peculiar answer.
The question was: “Why should Americans believe that the White House can create jobs when the unemployment rate has been so stagnant and the record is sort of anemic?”
Carney replied: “Well, the White House doesn’t create jobs. The government together — White House, Congress — creates policies that allow for greater job creation.”
“While undoubtedly true, it was certainly not a sentiment Obama wants to project as Republicans ratchet up criticism of his leadership on economic issues, and his presidential campaign kicks into high gear,” read an article for Business Insider. “Asked whether the White House could do more, Carney said ‘there is no silver bullet’ to creating jobs — but he didn’t answer the question.”
