PIERRE, S.D., Aug. 4 (UPI) — The governor of South Dakota is offering free admission to the South Dakota State Fair for South and North Dakota flood victims.
South Dakota residents will receive free admission by showing valid flood identification cards at the state fair gates, Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced in a release.
All North Dakotans, whose state fair was canceled this year due to flooding, will receive free admission to the fair with official forms of North Dakota identification.
“Flooding has impacted thousands of people across the region this year, and many families have not been able to enjoy a summer festival or vacation,” Gov. Daugaard said. “We hope all of our neighbors in North Dakota and those who live in flood areas of South Dakota take advantage of the free gate admission to visit the South Dakota State Fair.”
