50 Nigerians Run Over During Robbery

LOKOJA, Nigeria, Aug. 3 (UPI) — More than 50 Nigerians died when they were run over by a bus during a robbery, police said.
Around 5 a.m. Tuesday, armed bandits stopped a bus in Lokoja, in the central state of Kogi, ordered the passengers out and made them lie face-down on the ground as they were robbed one by one, police commander Sunday Maku told the Nigerian Tribune.
Then another bus and truck ran over the passengers, killing most of them, he said. The drivers did not stop.
To the south, in Uromi, Edo state, two people were reported killed and seven wounded when gunmen robbed a bank around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
A witness told the Tribune police fled the scene when the bandits attacked.
In Ilesa, in southwestern Osun state, about 10 robbers stormed a bank around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Three bystanders were killed when the attackers fired at random.
