Blast Kills Two In Dagestan

PYATIGORSK, Russia, Aug. 2 (UPI) — An explosion killed two people and injured three others Tuesday near the town of Buynaksk in Russia’s North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, police said.

A preliminary report indicated the blast came from an explosive device hidden under the car of the head of the Untsukulsky District, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.

The district official, his driver and his bodyguard all suffered injuries.

The two dead were not immediately identified.

One of the dead is believed to be the son of the district chief.
