Body Found In Search For N.H. Girl, 11

CANAAN, Vt., Aug. 1 (UPI) — Divers searching for a missing 11-year-old New Hampshire girl found a body in the Connecticut River in Vermont Monday morning, officials said.
Essex County, Vt., State Attorney Vincent Illuzzi told WMUR-TV, Manchester, N.H., a female body was found near the Canaan Hydro-Dam on the Connecticut River, which is the state line, but no identification had been made.
Celina Cass, 11, was last seen in her home in neighboring West Stewartstown, N.H., on July 25.
About 10:45 a.m., a dive team emerged from the water in Canaan, Vt., investigators went to the scene and reporters were asked to leave, WMUR reported.
A half-dozen law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, had joined the search.
Agents searched through brush and trees near Canaan Sunday for clues.
“If someone is lost in the wild, they leave hundreds or even thousands of clues,” said Lt. Robert Leverone, commander of the Special Emergency Response Team. “We don’t go looking for a person. We go looking for clues.”
The girl’s father, Adam Laro, made a brief appearance at a Sunday media briefing.
“We’re all wondering where my daughter is,” Laro said, “and we want the best for her safety.”
On Monday morning, Celina’s stepfather, Wendell Noyes, was taken by ambulance to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, N.H.
Officials said a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the missing girl’s home was impounded Saturday but refused to elaborate.
Authorities said they didn’t have any suspects in the girl’s disappearance and they considered it a missing person case.
The FBI posted a $25,000 reward for information.
