Small Business Owners Believe ObamaCare Will Increase Costs, Taxes

A recent survey of small business owners showed that a large majority of them believed that President Barack Obama’s healthcare overhaul would result in higher premiums.
Approximately two-thirds of business owners who employ 50 people or fewer believe that premiums will go up under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) with no corresponding increase in the quality of care, according to a survey conducted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB).
The survey also found that since the passage of the law about one year ago, one in eight employers have had their healthcare plans cut off or have been told that they would be terminated in the future.
William J. Dennis, a senior research fellow with the NFIB, told The Daily Caller that that rate was unusually high.
“We are not aware of any data suggesting we’ve had turnover anywhere near this level in the past,” he said.
In addition, the survey found that most small business owners feel that PPACA will not decrease the rising cost of health insurance, will not reduce the amount of administrative work that needs to be performed and will increase taxes.
