Issa: ATF Intimidating Witnesses before ‘Fast and Furious’ Testimony

In a recent interview, Representative Darrell E. Issa (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said at least two witnesses scheduled to testify before the Committee about the controversial “Fast and Furious” operation were intimidated by the Administration of President Barack Obama.

The two witnesses in question reportedly received warning letters from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), urging them to “limit their testimony,” according to an article for The Washington Times, which conducted the interview: “At least two of the agents got letters from ATF Associate Chief Counsel Barry S. Orlow warning them to keep certain areas off-limits, including those still under investigation.”

Issa also alleged in the interview that Attorney General Eric Holder may have known more about the operation, in which the ATF lost more than 1,000 guns across the border with Mexico, than he has led authorities to believe.

“How is it that the No. 2, 3, 4 at Justice all knew about this program, but the No. 1 didn’t?,” Issa reportedly said. “Is it because he said ‘don’t tell me’? Is it because they knew what they were doing is wrong, and they were protecting their boss? Or is it that Eric Holder is just so disconnected… ?”

    The “Fast and Furious” was nothing more than a mafia tactic gone bad.
    The problem was who was in charge, someone had to be, you don’t just do these things without a leader and a plan. Holder will probably not be held accountable because there is no one who can prove it. He isn’t all that dumb, he only does stupid things just like his boss OB.
    The Mexican President wants someone to fess up and take the heat, so of course the lowest on the tottom pole is going to get the rap. When you play those kinds of dangerous games, you better know your position before you decide. It was a dumb, stupid plan to begin with and they didn’t keep track of the guns so what happened??? Innocent people were murdered, and there will be more because there is still 500 or more of the guns out there for the Cartel to use and no one knows who has them. WOW, how intelligent is that!!!

    LOL! I guess Holder & Co. couldn’t intimidate acting ATF chief Melson…question is whether Melson will now suffer an unfortunate “accident” in the near future?

    The organized crime minions across America must be having a good yuk. Their low opinion of law enforcement is justified, especially when the nation’s #1 ‘mouthpiece’ is in the back pocket of the prez.
    In the real world, where no one is allowed to be above the law, the AG would be grilled or the credibility of the prez would be called into question. However, in the current la la land that we call Washington, anything is possible now.
    The AG acts like a loose cannon, and the prez seems to think he graduated from Crime University – instead of Haaavid.
    So much for loving the law. So much for protecting the Constitution. So much for character. So much for compassion. So much for TRANSPARENCY. So much for integrity. So much for common sense. So much for morality. So much for ‘the children.’ And the list goes on and on and on and on . . .
