Busy Campaigning, Bachmann Misses House Votes

Representative Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) has been very busy recently, preparing for the early Republican primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire and elsewhere. Since declaring her candidacy on June 27, her packed schedule of traveling, speaking at rallies and appearing on television shows has left little time to breathe, and it shows in her Congressional voting record. Or rather, her lack of one.

Bachmann “has missed nearly 40 percent of votes in the House since she formally launched her presidential campaign,” read an article for The Hill.

The article reported that the Minnesota Representative has missed 50 of 135 votes since formally launching her campaign, making her absentee rate “significantly higher than the two other House members running for president.”

The other two Republican Representatives running, Texas’ Ron Paul and Michigan’s Thaddeus McCotter, have missed about 8 percent and 10 percent of votes respectively since officially announcing their campaigns.

“The bulk of Bachmann’s absences came during last week’s session, though she returned briefly to the Capitol to participate in two votes: one to pass the Republican ‘cut, cap and balance’ plan regarding the debt limit, and another to fend off a Democratic challenge to that legislation,” the article read.

Geez—when they are campaigning, they all miss votes.

At least she showed up to work 60% of the time. Bachmann didn’t quit her job to write a book, work for Fox, have a reality TV show and go for a bus ride to show her ignorance of basic US history.
