And They’re Off!

April 28, 2011 by

And They’re Off!

In my recent column 15 More Minutes, I noted that I possess moderate-to-grave concerns about Donald Trump’s potential Presidential candidacy. I offered my take on “The Donald” for “The White House.” And I got “flamed” like a 5-cent steak on a napalm-fueled grill. But I have to live by the old sage: “If you can’t stand the heat, don’t get sideways with the readers of the Personal Liberty Digest™.” While I’m not a dedicated fan of Trump 2012, I am one of the world’s biggest fans of Almost Anyone Who Lacks An Actual Felony Record 2012. In addition to my remarks about The Donald’s political aspirations, I also suggested:

“Closer to November 2012, I’ll share my thoughts on my choice for President.”

Although I meant sometime IN 2012, I suppose it’s fair for me to offer a few thoughts on the field. President Barack Obama has already announced his intention to run for another four years.

With the upcoming Presidential race attracting candidates like the proverbial moths to the flame, there’s no shortage of material to examine. This early in the season, the field is as crowded as the first round of the NHL playoffs.

So, once more unto the breach goeth I, in a manner of speaking.

Donald Trump: I’m nothing if not persistent. I still don’t take him or his candidacy seriously.  Even if his purported search for Obama’s birth certificate weren’t just the latest in the long line of publicity stunts which have defined most of The Donald’s public life over the past three decades or so, I still don’t take his candidacy seriously. I’m still unclear as to whether his candidacy is any more real than that thing on top of his head. Trump is also a bit of a political chameleon, and we should all be concerned about his actual policies. On the plus side, the French wouldn’t have the hottest first lady anymore. Maybe the GOP could placate Trump with a new cabinet-level position: Secretary of Hot Blondes. Although Trump should be advised: I’m submitting my resume, as well. I do have a lingering question: If Trump wins, will he trade in the U.S. for a younger country before his term expires?

Mitt Romney: Between HillaryCare and Obamacare, there was RomneyCare. Back in the days when Romney served as an unlikely Governor of Massachusetts, he introduced a healthcare plan which bore a striking resemblance to both the erstwhile First Lady’s misdirected package and Obama’s Quixotic gallop down the same path. Romney is experienced in both public and private sector success; he is comfortable in the glare of public scrutiny; and he’s a fundraising machine. However, RomneyCare is going to stick to him like a trial lawyer to a speeding ambulance. In addition, he’s telegenic to the point of being almost plastic. From time to time, I feel an odd compulsion to peek at his back to see if there’s a pull string.

Newt Gingrich: Oh, the Democrats want him to lead out of the gate. Gingrich, who is likely the most well-versed candidate in issues domestic and foreign, is the man who proved that Democrats can’t really hold a lead on actual policy. In 1994, Gingrich forced the Democratic Party to run its midterm elections on being Democrats. That worked as well for them then as it did in 2010. However, Gingrich is toting more baggage than a Park Avenue heiress packing for a month in the Hamptons.

Mitch Daniels: Before you dismiss him as a governor of a marginally important State with limited public recognition, consider this: In 1991, Bill Clinton was that fat guy from Arkansas with the angry-looking wife and a taste for… er… cigars.  Daniels wasn’t even in the running until he dismembered “Cap and Trade” in the pages of The Wall Street Journal. On the down side, he’s hinted at a willingness to raise taxes; in the age of Tea Party ascendency, that’s tantamount to suggesting a tax cheat for Secretary of the Treasury. Not that anyone would ever do that.

Allen West: Watch Representative West carefully. For his resume to be more impressive, it would have to include multiple commendations for excellence and bravery while serving in uniform. Oh right… it does. The lone criticism liberals have managed to concoct so far? He got sideways with the Uniform Code of Military Justice during an interrogation of a possible terrorist in Iraq. West’s statement about the incident:

“If it’s about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I’d go through hell with a gasoline can.”

I don’t doubt that he would. He’s a military hero, a fiscal and social conservative and an unrepentant patriot. To be honest, I’m surprised Democratic Party-endorsed Common Cause hasn’t called for him to be lynched yet. If his candidacy gains steam, grab some popcorn and turn on MSNBC. I can’t wait for putty-faced Democrats to call West an “Uncle Tom.” Furthermore, I can’t wait for West to make them take it back.

Michele Bachmann: Her biggest advantages? She’s smart and unafraid of conflict with the liberal hordes, and she can raise money with the best of them. Her biggest drawbacks? As a conservative woman, she jumps right to the top of the list of Democratic — hence, Democratic media — targets. Liberals are not fond of conservatives in general. Liberals become positively apoplectic at the idea of conservative women. If you ever want to see the definition of sexism in motion, watch Chris Matthews devote an hour to Representative Bachmann. Additionally, Bachmann suffers from the inevitable comparisons to…

Sarah Palin: She’s bright, conservative, determined and easy to look at. Unfortunately, to the hypocrites who run the show at the Democratic Party, a woman with those credentials might as well be the Queen of the Damned. No one outside prison has attracted pure vitriol from the Democrats in the volume to which Palin has been subjected. In fact, given the Democrats’ fondness for certain people currently confined to correctional facilities around the country (Mumia Abu-Jamal for President, anyone?), she might suffer by comparison in the eyes of George Soros’s little friends. On the downside, Palin is ubiquitous to the point of being trendy. Trends fade. Imagine if a V.P. candidate from a losing ticket tried for the big chair four years later. Now imagine having to spend the rest of your career as the “female Walter Mondale.”

Mike Huckabee: Is it possible to be too nice and too earnest to be President? Huckabee is everything Obama isn’t: honest, forthright and competent. I’m also quite sure that he’d be perfectly comfortable thumping our enemies on the head with the proverbial brick. However, Huckabee lacks across-the-board support from conservatives, and the religious undertones of his message will push moderates away. Here’s a moment for the ages: Should Huckabee win, look for Representative Keith Ellison’s expression when Huckabee takes the oath of office on the Bible. Even money says Huckabee will smile at Ellison the whole time. However, the smart money says that Huckabee will sit out 2012, electing to make a whole lot more money — with a whole lot fewer headaches — in a television studio.

Herman Cain: I never liked Godfather’s Pizza. But I love a successful business model. As a resident of Georgia, I’ve seen and heard a lot of and from Herman Cain, and none of it gives me pause. He’s intelligent, erudite and competent. He’s also proudly outspoken about his conservative attitudes. He will face an uphill battle for recognition in a crowded field, but Jimmy Carter emerged from Georgia to win the White House… maybe Carter isn’t the best example. At the very least, Cain would have won the Battle of the Chattahoochee Bunny.

Tim Pawlenty: The former two-term Governor of Minnesota. Pawlenty has a chance, although that chance is likely smaller than the odds of running through Tehran with an Israeli flag and surviving. He would lose his home state. That’s never good. Even Mondale won Minnesota in ’84.

Barack Obama: It’s noteworthy that the incumbent has managed to do such a bang-up job in what looks increasingly like his only term that he’s not even the front-runner. I’m not going to belabor the point. But I will say this: I couldn’t help but notice that every time soon-to-be-ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declares she’s not a candidate, her husband smiles like a chubby chaser finding the latest issue of Big Beautiful Babies in the mail.

Hillary Clinton: Obama isn’t whispering sweet nothings to Michelle. He’s just repeating his personal mantra: “She’s not running. She’s not running. She’s not running.” Go to your happy place, Barack. Just think of the speaking fees you’ll collect from the New Black Panther Party.

There are surely other candidates, some of whom aren’t so bizarre that they’ve earned The Huffington Post Seal of Approval. Governor Haley Barbour’s years as RNC chairman and a lobbyist have earned him connections in every wing of the GOP. Rep. Paul Ryan has experience and a solid conservative resume, and he makes liberals foam at the mouth with hatred. However, Ryan seems content in his current position.

And don’t discount another Democrat running for the 2012 roses. Obama is staggering like a punch-drunk fighter who’s years past his prime. And the Democratic Party is well known for pulling out the proverbial rifles when their horses pull up lame.

No matter what the outcome, the stage is set for one hell of a sprint to the line. Thanks to Personal Liberty Digest™, you get a front-row seat.

This is fun. Another election to keep our minds off of important things. Grab your ballot so you can vote while “Rome burns”.

  • Bitter Libertarian

Divide & conquer has been the name of the game for the last 50 years minimum. It has worked..if a Democrat supports the 2nd amendment (there are many that do) they are alienated-until they see “the light”. If your a republican and you believe that in the SOVERIGNTY of an individual they do have rights to do with their bodies as they see fit in EVERYTHING….your alienated-until you “see the light”…

I could go on because there are dozens of issues that have been used as dividers!

Until We as Amnericans can put aside these issues for the BIGGER KEY ISSUE of Constitutional Compliance…we are destined to darkness & doom. By that I mean our Liberty (look up EXACTLY what that word means)

Trump, Obama, Palin, Romney, Clinton, ; All tools of the Elites. The others are too soft…

The only 2 I will consider right now is Paul-West.

First, I would just like to say that I like Bobby Jindal for president. As a Governor he has done an excellent job! The state has grown economically in spite of major environmental impacts. Having heard him speak on television, I was very impressed with his beliefs and positions on a great number of issues.

Second, I am wondering – do others feel as I do, that the National Debt Limit, which enables virtually unbridled spending by the federal government, has to belowered, not raised, or left as is. I would like to see a freezing of the Nation’s government’s hiring – which would result in a 5% cut of spending by attrition alone. Plus, then a lowering of every government budget line item by an additional 5% cut from last year’s budget. This cut would apply to all budgets including health care, military, defense, highways, pensions, agriculture, environment,Parks, etc. etc. etc. With no exceptions.

Third, I would like to see a National Day of Protest by citizens demanding a cut in National spending, so that we do not become broke loose our national credit ratings and do not enslave our children!

    • Bruce D.

Bobby Jindal is one of my favorites also. He would get my vote if he was running. There won’t be any reduction in debt until the Democrats lose the Senate and Whitehouse. That should be evident.

      • Carlucci

I like Bobby Jindal, too. He rocks.

      • Harold Olsen

He’s one of the few Republicans I would vote for. But most of the people on the list, ABSOLUTELY NOT! The top three that I would definitely NOT vote for are Trump, Gingrich and Romney.

      • Allan Halbert

And if Trump wins the nomination, you are going to vote for Obama? or not vote (same as voting for Obama)?

Personal Liberty Digest:”Live Free In An Unfree World”. 04/28/2011.
THANK YOU FOR THE CHANCE TO COMMENT.
“And They’er Off”. US Presidents and World Presidents with all their legal powers should become One United World with The United Nations seating in co-existing peaceful prophecy, but wars and tribulation are worst because countries like North Korea are not willing to change their ungodly constitutions to allow human rights and GOD.
And then the only way that Mother Earth’s life support systems is going to sustain life is by adoption of non polluting free energy that will heal fragile free energy Planet Earth.
Pollution from “Green House Poison Gases” are causing drought, floods, heat waves, melting ice and visions for barges to unload ships off shore should be in place as we speak, also aircraft made more safe for supply and demand.
One Global pay check will eliminate “disparities of wage difference, inequality” that makes people migrate and water desalination plants for green house farming will help people stay healthy, also free energy will eliminate pollution and safe effective birth control will reduce population and diminish death and disfigurement from abortion.
Red Dragon Communist China is violation of human rights have disfigured many women in the abortions of the one child policy and with 1.3 billion population like India’s 1.2 population suck worlds food supplies. On top of that there are $3. Billion people living under $3. Dollars equivalent a day and a total of 4 billion under $10. Dollars a day. In some places in Africa they make $1. a day and in Cuba less than $0.50 cents a day. So where can we find beef so we can then say “where is the beef”!?” Isa. 11:6-9.
North Korea have threaten to turn South Korea into ashes and to blow up the USA and if it was not that 9/11 took place and the Korean war then that threat would be like a joke. In 2003 PLA Commander CHI of Red China in officers indoctrination would teach that China would kill not one but two hundred million Americans and I figure that leaves 1/3 devil in America to run things. With FEMA death camps what would any one expect of them. Please let my comment be a quote of truth and let it stand to Awaken America and The Rest of The World.
May GOD Be Blessed and In Turn Bless America and The The World.
Present and Future Presidents in America and The USA should consider a United World and tare down the walls like Germany’s Unification.
Please HELP’ROLL CubaWithTheUSA and What AMERICA EATS, Cuba will eat’.
THANK YOU All that work for peace and unity together with GOD ALL MIGHTY as The GOD of Order and Peace. Genesis to Revelation.

I will have to agree with your comment. We could get worse, and my gut feeling tells me we will get worse. Especially with the current crop of nutjobs that are at the forefront.

  • http://www.easyinvest.co.za peter

The funny thing is that I still believe there are enough stupid people and enough scared people to ensure that Obama serves another term. It has absolutely nothing whatever to do with competence, backbone, patriotism or any other attribute needed to do the job properly. Very sad it is indeed, that the world has to suffer further at the hands of this person “who should be arrested for impersonating a President.” Past his prime? When was that?

    “And They’re Off”. April 28th,2011, THURSDAY, 08:40 A.M..EST.

‘A’ The WORLD NATIONS are in a “WORLD OF HURT” because there is more drought and more poverty also inflation, job insecurity and bubble housing foreclosures with bankruptcies like epidemics.
Any person running for President Of The USA or any other country has to address the past present and future insecurity that comes from “Inequality”, wars and TRIBULATION.
I see no Presidential hopeful or in place attempting to terminate inflation nor speed up the suppression of peak oil/ethanol, nuclear, coal, etc. pollution that are killing the oceans and ruining the lands. For the moment oil off shore has to be terminated because is murder genocide for all living beings alike and not even Mr. Obama has been able to stop torture in Guantanamo, much less in America.
The office of the President should not b especial interest and only for the welfare and security of the people and government. Tax payers can not bail out private institutions over and over and have the burden of inflated taxation with out representation.

In America hardly anyone votes for communists or socialists and Republicans and Democrats are so divided that nothing works for the people. The Obama birth certificate alone has cost plenty of set backs and unseating Mr. Obama has been priority one even before he got into office. Thank GOD that Mr. Obama was honored by Mr. Bush Bail Out and honorable change of command or else America would have died many times worst than “the dirty thirties” and maybe even billions of persons would have died WORLDWIDE, but instead Mr. President Obama with an unprecedented inheritance has kept America alive for the last 2 years although deflation should have been the weapons to correct many of the inflated “inequalities” in The Global Arena. What The WORLD needs is GOD=YHWH and those that copy from His fragile free energy in Mother Earth’s life support system. END.

    • smitty

dear Rojas, you DO realize that Obama IS a Socialist? He attended Marxist meetings when he was a community organizer. There are many muslims in Chicago, he rubbed elbows with many of them. There are over 70 members of the communist party IN Congress right now in the Democrat party.

I suggest you read his book Dreams from my Father. He is still using some of the ‘techniques” from communist Sol Allinsky’s Book for Radicals..that’s what community organization is along with the term “progressive” those are new terms for “communist”.

  • http://Personalliberty Tony

    To Everyone:
Look, as stated in an article yesterday, the Repubs. are doomed in 2012. These candiates are awful. Only Ron Paul could be competion, but, they’ll never will give him a chance. Obama or “Buckwheat” will win by a landslide. What conservatives need to do, as mentioned before, is turn to the roots of the late William F. Buckley and Jack Kemp. Maybe by 2016 candidates such as Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal,
or Jc. Watts could come to the fore-front to help conservatives win
back the White House. A good ticket for 2016 is Bobby Jindal/J.C. Watts. Alright, Thanks for now.

    • Jovianus

ya gotta love the TPers. At every chance, they claim not to be racist or supportive of violence to forward their goals…then they use terms such as ‘Buckwheat’ and ‘lock and load’ in their everyday vernacular.

      LOL …

Naw…they didn’t go after Planned Parenthood for anything other than budget cutting. Nope…the remarks misstaing the PP issue ‘were not meant to be factual”. And going after NPR? Nawwww..nothing doing about some sick sense of perception about it being liberal. And going after Medicare? Of course not…just that granny will blow through the voucher in four months and …as stated by several GOPers…she’s on her own and in the street if she can’t make it on her own at 75.

Keep it up folks…you’re the best campaign item for voting Obama in 2012 !

      • Cawmun Cents

Plaaned Parenthood would be better served if they changed their name to “Infanticide Unlimited”.

      • Jovianus

frank…please be more specific…who’s “god’ are you speaking of? I’m only speaking of the christian doctrine with that. Heck, even in the christian sects there are several if you listen to their preachers who say they have a ‘connection’ to the ‘word’.

Jovi… There is only one God.

      • Jovianus

According to you Robin. According to you. From what i’m reading on this forum day in and day out…there seem to be several in the christian religion because there are several “interpretations” as to what is doctrine.

      • http://?? Joe H.

What I find interesting about pro-abortionists is that they claim that abortions are not killing. Yet, tell one of them that their mother should have had an abortion and they will accuse you of threatening their lives.

Years ago, when Clinton was in office, he had just made a speech in support of abortion. I commented on line that Clinton’s mother should have had an abortion. Some liberal idiot responded to me that he was going to report me to the Secret Service for threatening Clinton’s life. I asked him in what way did I threaten Clinton’s life. He responded that I threatened Clinton’s life by wishing his mother had had an abortion. I asked him how that could be a threat when people who support abortions do not consider it to be killing. I got no response to that.

    • smitty

listen many independents who voted for Obama now know he is a liar. They will not vote for him again. I have said i would vote for anyone running against obama i don’t care who they are but many if the repubs do not put in a decent candidate who will put the USA first, those will go back to obama like a dog returns to his vomit.

      • Harold Olsen

It isn’t just independents who voted for Obama who are turning away from him. I’ve seen interviews at TEA party rallies in which black people who supported Obama and some were even Obama delegates at the convention said they would never vote for him again if he runs for reelection. I guess some Democrats DO learn from there mistakes, though that is rare.

    • barbm

you people who use racial slurs give us all a bad name and juvi ammunition. i’m so sick of people saying the tea party is racist, but how can they not when people like you post things like this? we have a hispanic president of the san antonio tea party, and there are MANY hispanics and blacks who are members. your ignorance is showing. hard to take anything you say seriously when this is how you think.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        barbm,
I reread the posts you posted to and I see nothing racist about either comment. “dog to vomit” is not a racist comment. I don’t see it, care to enlighten me??

      • barbm

i was referring to the use of the term “buckwheat” by insurgent, average joe, carlucci, and tony.

        Barbm:

Buckwheat was a blck kid on The Little Rascals so I don’t see anything racist about it, unless it’s because Soetoro is, as the duck in that commercai says: “HALF BLACK”.

  • smitty

Ron Paul is on the far opposite pole from obama! I see that as a major negative. Ron Paul holds THE most conservative voting record since 1934. The question is, can he move closer to center or else he will face the same problems as Obama. I also think he is very weak on ILLEGALS.

Many Republicans ran in 2010 on platforms of halting illegals…now they are elected they have not mentioned it. It’s a bad mistake on the Republican party to dismiss the IMPORTANCE of securing our border. In fact this is a MAJOR reason US Citizens latched on to Trump b/c he said he would put our military on the border and stop the infiltration of illegals…certainly that would also slow down the influx of drugs as well. US Citizens need those jobs that illegals have taken. We are also concerned about our enemies coming in thru Mexico. Republican Party Candidates TAKE NOTE, Obama’s failure to secure the border, and REALLY crackdown on illegals…is viewed by many Conservative US Citizens as an impeachable offense, failing to up hold our Constitution…i.e. our LAW. When you couple that with the many questions about his origins and his personal history or rather his suppression thereof, then people ask WHY, and many believe it’s b/c his own aunt was illegal…she is now legal put on a fast tack no doubt by obama.

Also when I see Ron Paul on TV, he is very very pale anemic looking…older folks are inclined to develop anemia. It makes me wonder if he’s up to the job.

    • Bruce D.

I like Ron Paul but I have to agree with you a little. I was surprised to see he is 75. He holds himself well for 75. I think it would be difficult for Paul to put together any kind of a coalition. He must prove that he can command a crowd other than Libertarians. There is no guesswork in that. He can or he can’t. He will have to do a lot better than he did last time. Also I agree with you on Trump. I think he is the only one that can close the border. I think he is the only one strong enough to do it.

    • Vigilant

“TAKE NOTE, Obama’s failure to secure the border, and REALLY crackdown on illegals…is viewed by many Conservative US Citizens as an impeachable offense, failing to up hold our Constitution…i.e. our LAW.”

smitty, if that’s the case then you would have had to impeach a number of presidents.

    • DaveH

Although nobody should be allowed to enter our country illegally, the illegals are not the cause of our bad economy. Big Government is the problem. And Ron Paul wants to downsize it dramatically.
Keep voting for Republicans who don’t respect Freedom and you will get your way. The illegals won’t want to come here anymore after Big Government turns our country into another 3rd world nation.

  • LJJ

What about the little known Gary Johnson. The first man to throw his hat into the ring for pres.

    • barbm

yahoo, somebody else is paying attention. gary johnson is a self-made millionaire whose only foray into politics was an 8-year stint as gov of n.m. where, when he left office, they had a surplus of funds. he did a great job for them, and i think he’d make a good potus. my only concern is, how does he feel about the illegals? i like west too but, being a military man, how does he feel about war?

  • Alexandra Mark

Well, since God is not available to run on the Republican/Conservative ticket, I will settle for a human – although flawed and didn’t attend an Ivy League college – who possesses integrity, courage, moral convictions, strength of character, an ability to learn quickly, humor, a pleasing disposition, strong family values, a respect for life, a deep appreciation of our military, a lover of liberty and real freedom of choice, a sense of what made this country great, and a common sense attitude towards our capitalistic system that is envied – or was – world wide. I’m talking about Sarah Palin, the bane of all liberals, radicals and RINOs!

    • Nadzieja Batki

The country cannot survive the female version of Obama.

  • http://THEHEM@RCN.COM RED-WHITE-BLUE

Ben, I really like Allen West of Fla. He seems to be a true American, and has his act together. The Dums are already stating that this is going to be a racist, and nasty battle, so if the Republicans were smart, they would have West as their frontrunner, to quell the Dums. West and Huckabee are my 2 choices.

    • smitty

doncha just love that obama can’t use the race card on West or Cain.

I don’t know much about Cain…been reading up on West and watching his speeches.

      • smitty

meant to say Obama shows himself to be a huge racist in his book Dreams From my Father.

Hillary Clinton is as bad as Obama…she is good friends with George Soros…i consider him a monster…he is trying to gain control of the grain supply in the USA…he has caused other currencies to fail and has vowed to cause the Dollar to fail. He might even be the anti christ…jewish and athiest…scriptures say that because the jews did not believe the Truth of Jesus Christ as their messiah…that God would send them strong delusion that they would believe a LIE, the lie of the anti christ..so it’s likely he will be an apostate jew..not likely jews will follow a gentile as it’s really forbidden for them to associate with Gentiles. Actually many Islamic customs are similar to Jewish ones…like not eat pork, like being forbidden to associate with Gentiles/infidels, apply a tax or charging a higher price for non jews/non muslims. Things like that. But makes sense b/c
Isaac( born of free mother ) and Ishmael ( born of the bond slave mother ) were half brothers. God made promises to each to make a great people of each Isaac Jews..and Ishmael Arabs.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        smitty,
I am a Christian and in defence of my friends I simply have to say that not all Jews believe that! I have about 8 or 10 Jewish friends and all are very close friends!! I have broken bread in their house as well as they in mine!! Please don’t make those type of blanket statements when it comes to them!!

      • Harold Olsen

Oh, Obama will use the race card–or, at least, his people will. They’ll call them Uncle Toms or, as they did with Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell for serving in Republican administrations, say they are not true black people because they are Republicans. That IS being racist. And, the lame brain media will also get into the act.

    • Red

WOW! An absolute losing ticket! Unknowns don’t have a prayer, nor can they raise a billion dollars to match our dictator.

  • Bonnie

    Great evaluation—-Trump/Cain/West for President!

    • smitty

i love allen west b/c he is a true patriot he understands not only the Islamic problem, he also realizes the lack of security of our border is a huge problem from national security. He said that muslims are entering illegally via Mexico where they are actually learning to speak Spanish and enter the US posing as illegal MEXICANS…all b/c we are too lax on illegals.

US Citizens CONSERVATIVE want a president who wants to put the USA and OUR CITIZENS first. I hear the doubts on Donald and how many think he won’t run. But the conservatives like him b/c he has come out strong as a Patriot…wow he won my heart when I heard him say he hates what has been done to our country. God, in our scriptures has always used the basest people to do his work. Jacob was a thief who stole Esau’s birth right by fraud and conniving but Jacob after wrestling with the angel ( God ) became a new man spiritual and he received a new name Israel in the same way Saul devout Jew, but murderer of believers in Christ who came face to face with Christ and was instantly converted, received his new name, Paul. Don’t discount tRump b/c he SEEMS unlikely. God uses the biggest sinners sometimes to do his will.

Our country needs to get back to God and godly principles of our Constitution.

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

smitty… I agree with your post! I believe that too many people are discounting Donald Trump. His whole attitude and the fact that he is not a politician are welcomed! I think Trump/West would be an amazing selection. I am somewhat disappointed with all of those who have insider knowledge to politics that are nay-saying Trump. I am sick of the media who try to sway the American public. How about facts? Just give us the facts and let us decide. We are not children; we can sort through it and make a decision on our own as long as we have the facts.

      • Bruce D.

As far as I am concerned Trump is the man to beat. Someone has to take it away from him if they want the nomination. I would pay to see presidential debates with him and Obama.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Trump would be terrible, and Ill gladly tell you why. Though I like the guy, and I find him very, very entertaining, he lives off of other peoples money. He has gone bankrupt numerous times, and it is only bank loans that make him solvent again. He likes to spend money he doesnt have, and I have to tell you Bruce, that is the last thing we need right now. Though I admire the guys go get em attitude, his being able to bankrupt solvent business ventures then borrowing money and doing it again, then borrowing and starting again, well, we are in that kind of problem now, borrowing money and spending what we dont have. I cant vote for him because of this.

      • Karolyn

Fact is Trump wants a bigger military and will take us into more wars. He’s a big blowhard and would weild the power of the President to get us into even more trouble.

      • Bruce D.

You could just as easily be talkng about Obama with that comment Karolyn.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        karolyn,
I never agree with you, till now! I feel Trump is to impulsive and will get us into far more trouble than we want to handle!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Gee Karolyn, like the poser in the White House now. You know, the guy who ran on a platform that said he was going to get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and that we shouldnt have even been there, then once he is in office, he escalates the wars, then starts another one. And you have the audacity to point the finger at someone else. How typically liberal of you. Give your party a pass, while they are screwing up big time, then point the finger at a prospective rival, and accuse them of wanting to do, what your guy is currently doing. How typically liberal of you. Unbelievable.

    • barbm

cain was the chairman of the kansas city federal reserve and stated as recently as this year that there is no reason to audit the fed. so, that’d be a no from me for him. i love ron paul and hope to see his son robert take hutchison’s senate seat and rand run for potus maybe next time, but i don’t think the msm will let ron win.

  • Bob

I agree — Huckabee is the man if he runs. He is wise, experienced, moral, conservative and vetted. He has a large loyal following. Unfortunately, he knows by experience how hard it will be to win and to govern. It has been said that a man considered wise enough to be president brings that wisdom into doubt, should he choose to run. It is a terrible personal price to pay to serve your country. I’m hoping Gov. Huckabee chooses to pay that price.

    • smitty

Huckabee won’t cut it with conservative US Citizens as he is way too liberal ( SOFT ) on illegals…he is one who wants the children of illegals to receive government AID.

This is a tremendous ISSUE and the Republicans are not coming out the voter side of that issue.

NO CANDIDATE who wins the REpub nomination or the Presidency who is NOT willing to STOP illegals…the US Citizens are not going to be happy with that. That is the quickest and easiest way to open up jobs IMMEDIATELY for US Citizens, city by city, employer by employer.

It’s proven that many illegals will self deport when there is an announcement of a crackdown..they will pull their children out of schools and leave. Let them go to a liberal state since liberals want them to receive benies that illegals aren’t entitled to.

      • Bruce D.

Illegals will be an important issue and anyone that wants to give them handouts will lose a lot of conservative votes.

      • Rufus

Like the employers who hire them?

      • Nadzieja Batki

Huckabee is soft on illegals. If he cares for them so much why doesn’t he support them out of his own pocket and leave the rest of America alone. He would make a horrible president

    • Stan Smith

Huckleberry & Juan McCain are responsible for Obummer winning the presidential race! Those two Ass Clowns made a backdoor deal to bump off Mitt Romney, Juan McCain was sinking fast in the GOP primary and Mitt was ahead and Huckleberry refuse to drop out, So you can Thank those two Ass Clowns for getting us in this mess by ensuring Obummer win! The fix is in! BTW I’m not a Mitt Romney supporter, I rather have him in the white house instead of Obummer! This country wouldn’t be deep horse crap if Mitt would won instead of obummer!

      • Harold Olsen

McCain ended up as the GOP candidate because the party anointed him. He was who they wanted even though the majority of Republicans did not like him. Unfortunately, there are enough sheep in both parties who will vote for whomever the parties anoint. The majority of Democrats wanted Hillary Clinton as the candidate. But the party anointed Obama and so the sheep on the left supported him.

I received a poll in my email the other day from the Republican party. The poll wanted to know who I would support in 2012. I started to take the poll and then discovered that in order for my vote to be counted I would be required to donate to the party and the donation would not be tax deductible. Since I’m an independent, there is no way I will support the Republican party, especially since I do not know who the candidate will be. If it is one of those mentioned in the article above, with maybe one or two exceptions, there is NO way I will support them. I suspect the GOP will do as they have done in recent years and force someone on us that no one likes. To hell with what the people want!

      • Patty

Then make sure you get involved, get heard, and VOTE in your primaries. They are important!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Harold,
do like I do and send every one of them back in their pre-paid envelope, and tell them you will donate when you see them back a true constitutional conservative!!! If enough of us do that, maybe they will get the message!!!

    • barbm

bob said – ” It has been said that a man considered wise enough to be president brings that wisdom into doubt, should he choose to run.” this reminds me of when my youngest son started 1st grade. i told him that, if he studied hard and learned a lot, he could grow up to be president some day. he said, “i don’t want to be the president!” i asked why and he stated that nobody likes the president. he was 6 and had spent all those years going with me to austin to protest nukes, to the polls to work for my candidates, and other political activities, so he was pretty darn savvy for a babe.

it took me 7 years to graduate, and i went to 3 different colleges. i hate to defend palin in any way because i hate her for backing perry for gov of tx, but i can’t let that one ride.

      • Carrie K.

Palin and her buddy Beck threw Debra Medina under the bus just after she began to hit her stride in the polls. Very suspicious, methinks.

      • barbm

she was on the news tonight raising hell in austin about them wanting to store the nation’s nuclear waste in texas. what idiot thought that was a good idea? perry?

    • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Bob… I thought Huckabee would be the one I would want to see as president at one time, too. But, I just don’t think he has what it takes. He seems to fit into the good ole boy group.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I like Mike Huckabee on his morals and his faith in Jesus Christ, but his record on spending is not very good. He has had the habit of spending more than his state could afford, and thats not a good thing.

Here is Ron Paul’s Issues page. Anybody that wants Freedom should read what Ron believes from his own mouth, not from what others want you to believe about Ron.
Both Republican and Democrat leaders fear that Ron might (will) upset their cushy positions in our leadership. And they will do anything to keep him from getting too much exposure.
We have all got to wake up now. We haven’t got the luxury of kicking the can down the road. We are on the verge of irreversible Big Government domination of our lives. It might already be too late.

When I see Ron Paul stand up and confess Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he will get my vote, hands down. No doubt about it. Until then, its not going to happen.

  • kevin

    Why not mention Ron Paul?

  • Dave

You mentioned Allen West. You might also add that he’s not afraid to take on the growing Islamic threat in this country; in my opinion, far worse than any other issue as it deals with the end not only of our culture but our lives. Anyone not converting won’t just be diminished; they’ll be shortened a foot from the hairline down. West articulates with application from the Qur’an, Hadith, and any other writings which I’ve not heard anyone else do. He’s aware that Muslims consider us the Great White Satan and that they lie in holy jihad. They’re also very patient engaged in a 14 Century conflict with Christianity and proud that one occupying the WH is very sympathetic if not one of them.

    • wasadoc

The “signature” on all of my emails for the past 5-6 weeks has been to draft Allen West for POTUS in 2012. I even mention being called a racist because I don’t like the black/white mix that is currently there, but wonder what I will be called now, since I am backing LtCol West. And I go on to mention that he is a REAL black man–not just a wannabe. Allen West is the only one to vote for in 2012, if we want to take this country back. I would love to see a debate between West and Obama–no contest.

    • http://personalliberty.com frank

Dave excellently said you hit the nail on the proverbial head.

    • Bruce D.

Allan West is my favorite but I do not think it is his time yet. Right now Trump is the man to beat whether he is conservative or not as the field is seriously lacking in talent. He is almost winning by default. We will see how it plays out though as it is still early.

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

        Bruce D. How about Trump/West?

      • JeffH

        Robin from Arcadia, IN, Bachmann/West?

      • pastordo

Bachmann/West or West/Bachmann would be an exceptional ticket. They might even turn out to be a very electable ticket, IF they could manage to garner real support from the GOP who so often pushes the so-called “moderate” or “establishment” favorite (i.e. McCain who only got as close as he did because of one Sarah Palin despite her efforts having to work AGAINST the McCain political team). For the moment, it seems like same old, same old to me from both parties, and that is far worse for our nation than the dangers of possibly electing a true conservative that the media would paint, and most old-guard GOP power brokers would agree with, as an “extremist”.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I think the winning ticket will be Mitch Daniels with Bobby Jindal.

    • Mick

      Disappointed

Where in the hell are the Ross Perots ??
I know that the man bailed, maybe he realized that society wasn’t ready or smart enough to comprehend the way he envisaged what America should be but his ideas would have saved us a hell of a lot of heartaches and misery.

      • Conservative at Birth

Ross Perot? You can’t be serious. He only ran to get even with G.H.W., for not giving him an ambasaorship. He also became rich by processing Social Security and Medicare payments. He made his money from the taxpayers. Trump is from the same mold saying things people want to hear. Neither was/is a serious candidate that can be elected.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Conservative,
Trump also admitted he voted for Nobummer, H said he was pro-abortion but now has seen the light, Has been bankrupt at least twice. I think all he is doing is saying what we want to hear and he will do the dem thing if he gets into office!!

      • Vigilant

        From Wikipedia:

        1992 election:

“Perot severely damaged his credibility by dropping out of the presidential contest in July and remaining out of the race for several weeks before re-entering. He compounded this damage by eventually claiming, without evidence, that his withdrawal was due to Republican operatives attempting to disrupt his daughter’s wedding.”

“On November 3, Bill Clinton won the election to be the 42nd President of the United States by a wide margin in the U.S. Electoral College, receiving 43 percent of the popular vote against Bush’s 37 percent and Perot’s 19%.”

1996: Perot got only 8.4% of the vote.

Perot was a spoiler and nothing else. Bush I would have been president were it not for Perot.

Trump as an inependent would do the same thing. Trump as a Republican candidate would give the election to Obama.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Wow. I had forgotten ’bout the Little General. What a trip down Memory Lane – and it has been almost TWENTY years! How far we have fallen, but as you go down hill you pick up speed.

Do not forget – The “T” and the “P” are no longer silent as The One has corrected the error in our ways….

Now, I must go for a nap and dream that I am Vice President…

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Vigilant… You make many great points in your posts, but I think you are underestimating Donald Trump. I am no political pundit, but I think he has more than a good chance to win in the primaries if he chooses to run. I am sick of politicians. You vote them in looking for change and it goes from bad to worse. I didn’t vote for Barry, but I am stuck with him like the rest of America. Donald Trump has a well known name, and that seems to be a big factor when it comes to election polls. I honestly think that is the only reason Pelosi and Reid keep getting voted in. Barry had a great team who knew how to campaign. It was a big factor along with people wanting to see the first black president come into office. Too bad most didn’t know that he is as white as he is black!

      • Vigilant

        Robin,

You may be right that I am underestimating Trump, time will tell.

I’m more concerned with his substance than his style. What bothers me so very much is that he comes on the scene and sees a meteoric rise in Republican polls simply because of his flamboyance and so-called straight talk. I need much more than that to judge a candidate.

For me, he has too many unknowns and shortcomings. He strikes me as the tough-talking novice politico who, if elected, would discover that his style doesn’t go nearly as far as it has taken him in TV or the business world.

Ross Perot became an abject failure in his bids for the presidency, and, thanks to him we got Clinton in office.

I believe that, the longer he remains in the public spotlight, the more we will learn about him. As I said, time will tell.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Robin,
don’t let your hatred for Nobummers policies blind you as to Trumps shortcommings!!! It could cause us to get another four years of nobummer and I’m not so sure we could survive that!!!

      • Nadzieja Batki

Trump will give the election to Obama, as Perot did for Clinton.

    • Harold Olsen

I saw Ron Paul on something a couple of weeks ago. This guy is a real nut job. The subject of the victory mosque at ground zero came up and he is in favor of it. Then the subject of Sharia law being enforced in this country came up and he is in favor of that also. Is this the type of person you want running this country. Not me!!

      • Average Joe

You might want to go back and study Ron Paul’s history, philosophies and reasoning behind his statements…rather than going by one or two statements that he has made, of which you disagree. Being informed about candidates goes a long way towards electing someone that has morals, intelligence and the fortitude to stand up for those convictions and do the right thing for the nation as a whole.Ron Paul is one of the few elected individuals that hasn’t been bought and paid for by outside interests…that in itself is a big plus for me to vote for him.
Also, he has never voted for anything that was not constitutionally allowed….another big plus. He has never “waffled” on any issues and has never “flip-flopped” concerning why he has or has not voted in a certain way….another plus. Ron paul is a man of the people and dedicated to a constituionally correct government who stays within it’s Lawful confines. He is against “Foreign Treaties” and foreign entanglements. He believes that America is a sovereign nation and as such, is guided by it’s own constitution and not by the whims of foreign dignitaries and “world organizations”. As for his comment about the mosque and Sharia Law, I think you misunderstood him (Depending on where you heard, saw or read it). I watched the interview myself and what he stated was that the building of the Mosque was about property rights and not about politics….if they own the land, they should be free to build whatever they want on it…from a farm to a mosque…their property…their right to choose…politics have no place in the equation…and I agree…..if we need to be upset with someone…how about the nimrod that sold them the propety…rather than the people that bought it? As for Sharia Law, he stated that they are free to worship in any way they choose (as are all Americans)…but that Sharia Law was incompatable with our Constitution and that anything that was not in accordance with said document…should not be permitted. I can’t stress enough…study the candidates…study their previous votes…their background and most of …their morl fiber…..study, study, study…..there’s no such thing as having too much information.

My idea candidates would be RonPaul/Rand Paul or Ron Paul/ Michelle Bachman…either ticket would be a win-win situation for America….and her people….IMHO…let’s face it…it can’t possibly be any worse than what we have now…..

      • DaveH

        Very well stated, Average Joe.

The problem with Republicans is that they recognize other peoples’ freedom when it is their way. Otherwise Not.

  • Mick

Although I meant sometime IN 2012, I suppose it’s fair for me to offer a few thoughts on the field. President Barack Obama has already announced his intention to run for another four years.
    (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

After the fiasco of the last couple of years the conclusion should be clear to anyone with a bit of common sense.
    The man has no shame……….
As for the rest of them, I am unsure ! Speeches are fine but I am looking for bluntness in a candidate, no sugar coating.
Down with the political correctness that got us in the unbelievable mess we find ourselves in today.

    • Harold Olsen

As Sarah Palin pointed out of Fox a couple of weeks ago, when Obama ran the first time he had no record. Now, he does have a record and it is dismal.

Actually, Obama did have a record as a senator. He voted “present” on just about every vote that he participated in. A person (I almost called him a man but that would not be factual) of true convictions and courage.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Well Harold, he has a record at least until he has it quarrantined, locked up, sealed away. Oh wait, the MSM has / is already done that…

    • TNJan

Mick, if you want bluntness (ie, TRUTH) in a candidate, my suggestion would be Herman Cain or Allen West. They truly tell it like it is. That is the way I try to live my life, I think it is the only way to go!

  • Johnnyrite

Another great column Ben, but I have to take you to task on Sarah Palin being “bright”.

The Donald can say all he wants about Obama’s school records (for all I know Mr. Obama cheated off of Ted Kennedy’s old exams), but as a serious conservative I have to point out one serious problem with Palin: she has a Phys. Ed degree from the University of Idaho. I use to live in Washington State and many of my closest friends went to Washington State University. Most of them reported this:
    1. They went to a great party school, the real “Animal House”.
    2. At least they didn’t go to the University of Idaho.

I say this not as an elitist. My own alma mater is ranked rather low. But then again, I never said I had the brains to be President.

    • Patty

Well, I am not so sure about Palin running for Pres., she seems to polarize more than anything with a lot of help from the MSM, but You need to get your facts straight. #1 She went to several colleges.
she finished out her college education and received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987, where she also minored in political science.

      Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_Sarah_Palin's_educational_background#ixzz1KnHeoQjl#2

      • Johnnyrite

So are you bragging up that she went to three colleges and not just one? Or that it took her five years to get a degree and not the usual three or four? Or perhaps that on her resume she can also add that she went to:
        1) Hawaii Pacific University
        2) North Idaho College

      • Tom Dillman

Well, Johnnyrite — At least Palin has transcripts. Compare that to Barack.

        Dear Tom,

I am not bragging up Obama. Is he smart? I don’t know and frankly I don’t care. I don’t like his policies.

As for the post by Time, he only makes my argument. I bet Time has been successful to a large extent because he is intelligent. And Time is right about something else, degrees alone don’t matter. Also today’s politicians are not that smart. Sad but true.

I am only saying that when it comes to having someone’s finger on the button — whether it is a nuclear submarine skipper or the President — I like to error on the side of intelligence.

It is too bad more people like Time who are incredibly smart — the best and brightest — don’t run for the Presidency.

And don’t attack me for being a Lefty on this. Compare Mrs. Palin’s academics with “Doctor” Ron Paul’s. In the late 1950s Congressman Paul attended the Duke University School of Medicine, finishing his degree in 1961. Dr. Paul did his internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Later he was as a doctor in the United States Air Force.

So let me ask you: who do you want to lead America, someone like Dr. Paul or someone like Mrs. Palin?

      • JeffH

Johnnyrite, just admit that you don’t care for Palin. She is intelligent enough to lead this country and far more qualified than the current community organizer or the last POTUS. That said, the Soros lead lamestream media has done so much damage to her image, with outright lies, fabrications and inuendoes that I don’t care what she does, it won’t be good enough for the people that can’t think for themselves no matter which side of the isle they walk down.

My choice in the whole mess would be a Paul/Bachmann ticket or a Bachmann/West ticket.

      • Patty

Well, 57% don’t finish in 4. 4.7 years is the average. I know a lot of people who went to more than 1 college. My son started at a community college, went to U/M which I begged him not to because the only degree you get there is how to learn where to park, and finished at a state college. I would dare to guess that most students switch from the school they started at. Changing colleges is no different than changing your major. Most students are finding themselves throughout the college process. You are beginning to sound like the drive by MSM in attacking her. No matter what she does, it will be wrong in your eyes.

      • mamabear

HUMMMMMM. Perhaps if Ms. Palin was black or a foriegn student on a visa, she would have been given free money for tuition, like someone else who has not yet released their transcripts. But, Ms. Palin had to WORK her way through school and Idaho during the 1980′s was a hard place to get work. Waitressing paid $1.90 an hr +tips and minimum wage was $3.35 an hour. I know, because after working a year to pay for it, I went to Idaho State University. Even though I worked during that year, I still had to drop out and work another year to afford to go back. It took me 7 years from High school graduation to college graduation, and I attended 3 different schools trying to follow the money to attend. There were a few years where I worked two part time jobs and attended school full time. Am I less intelligent because I did it all by myself, like Palin did? I also had 10 years of payments on the student loans that I PAID IN FULL, ahead of schedual. I think those years gave me more than a party school degree, they made me tough, realistic and self-reliant. Those are the characteristics that Palin has that makes her the force that moves people. I personally would like to see her continue to organize the conservatives and mold the future generation of both voters and the media. She embodies the American CAN-DO spirit that is so badly needed in today’s youth and culture.

      • duffy49

Ditto to mamabear’s comment. Many college educated had to work thru college years and go to school at the same time.

      • Johnnyrite

We are arguing apples and oranges here. I don’t doubt for one moment that Mrs. Palin has stick-to-it-ness and is a good person. What I am saying is that given the choice I would prefer a President to have a Mensa-like IQ.

Did Mrs. Palin have more challenges than the wealthy Kennedys? Of course she did. And I would rather have her as a friend and confident than most members of that family.

However, I believe that shear intelligence does matter; that the people that have done great things for this nation had very high IQs as well as SQs (social quotients). A good book on the importance of intelligence is Malcolm Gladwell’s book, “Outliers: The Story of Success”.

      • TIME

        John,
So you think MENSA means something in politics? You really have to be kidding right? Do you really think any politician is in that realm? Let me answer for you, “NO” only an total WANKER would think that!

The mass amount of politician’s have an IQ of 110 or less.
But what they do have is a backer, aka “$$$$$$” or someone who’s ass they kiss or are a Puppet for, or a “Brotherhood” if you had a higher education then you know what I am talking about.

        I may not be the brighest star but I passed on Mensa even with an IQ that was much higher than 95% of it’s members. The Mensa gang were on {Government grants for projects.}

I was able to do it on my own and rather than being in a science review magazine now and then and work on Grants by the way paid for by the US TAX payers. I own my own company that nets well over $250 Million per year.
I am not bragging just stating fact, by the way I also received a masters in just over 4 years at age 20.
Of what by the way I worked a full time job as well that paid for my education.
By the way working in a Rock & Roll band that toured the world for months on end and yet was still able to do all my school work and pass with a 4.0 from Georgetown you know the one in DC.

By the way yes, I did smoke Pot BTW – I did inhale as did every politician that now claims they didn’t.

So get over the idea that you have Mensa level Politicians thats just 100% total BS. Only a tool would think such.

      • Average Joe

        Johnnyrite says:,

To put this as simply as possible, I would rather have a president with no formal education at all and a lot of common sense than another educated fool. It makes no difference whatsoever what the cover of a book looks like, it is the content within that determines whether or nor we will read the book…or not. Common sense and character matter….degrees (regardless of what they are for) have no bearing on the issue of running a country.

The difference between science and the fuzzy subjects is that science requires reasoning while those other subjects merely require scholarship.
        Robert A. Heinlein

      • Average Joe

BTW, BHO is a perfect example…A man that is supposed to be “A COnstitutional Scholar” (According to him, I still haven’t seen any school transcripts)…but can’t seem to follow the document….(must have been on one of those taxpayer funded scholarships…that pushed him through without actually doing any studying).

So going to several colleges is bad?? I think the last thing any liberal candidate wants is for Sara Palin to run. It would be like George Forman getting beat up by Popeyes girl friend. They wouldn’t be able to deal with the embaressment. Sara would rip them apart. So liberals. try hopeing for one of the other candidates. You’ll have a better chance of winning.( not much but better ).

      • Leo

Just shut up you imbecile . Palin PAID for education herself . Unlike community organizer from White House : his granny did .

      • Patty

Are you sure? I think he went on a foreign visa with US taxpayer funds. I think he was born in Hawaii, I think his step-father relinquished his US citizenship to get into the school in Indonesia.
Got the birth certificate, now how about the passport and some transcripts? Something that should have been vetted before he could have been a candidate. How many people do you know that can get hired without most or all of the above?

Ill put Sarah Palin’s brights up against your’s any day Johnnyrite. How far have your smarts gotten you? Ever been Governor of a State? Ever even been a mayor? Huh, I didnt think so. What kind of degree do you have Johnnyrite? Thats what I thought. Dont let your alligator mouth get in front of your butterfly ass. That is a receipt for disaster.

Yep…a good record for showing she quits when the going gets close to being tough. She cracked during the short VP race when the pressures got to her. Alienated every staff member in McCain’s organization…even McCain won’t say anything supportive unless it’s forced upon him…and he’s hedging even then.

Palin won’t run..she likes the high life of being rich without having to work.

I don’t call them liberals or progressives anymore. I believe that the proper term is “Social Fundamentists”….being on the left is more like a religion than a political philosophy…kind of like the Fundamentalist Christians (you know the ones I’m talking about…the world is 12k yrs old…dino bones were put here to make us question the existance of God etc.). They claim to be progreeive/ liberals….but whatever the leftstream media, pundits or politicians say…is gospel and to believe otherwise is blasphemy (which is why they call us racsists.bigots etc.)…while not even considering the contradictions between what they say that “we” say and do..and the things they, themselves actually say and do….Many of them claim to be Atheists…but the truth is…..socialism is their religion and their God….anyone who dissagrees with their agenda…is not fit to live in their version of Utopia….only a vision with no hope of ever becomming a reality, because one size does not fit all……never has and never will. That is why the are Social Fundamentalists….and not liberals or progressives. I shied away from Fundamental Christians and will do so with this group as well…the name says it all…Fund a mental…..

To Average Joe and his assault on Christians. All I can say to you is this Joe. There is one way to heaven, and one way only. Telling Jesus Christ you need Him in your life, and inviting Him in. Other than that, you cannot pray your way in, you cannot work your way in, and I must add you cannot sin your way out. People think you go to hell for drinking, or murder, or adultery, or being gay. No, those are fruits of unbelief, but you dont go to hell for them. God can cleanse all those sins from us, so dont let people put Him in a box. He is a little bigger than that. If we ask Him into our lives, He is faithful to forgive us our sins, and we are washed clean. We start again. And when you accept him, you turn away from these sinful things and reject that way of thinking and doing things. If you dont, then you never really changed. but one day Joe, you and I, and all of us, will get our turn, in bowing down before Him, and giving an account of ourselves. Thats why the hypocrites and those who might think of themselves as better than me or above me, dont bother me at all, because there is One, who will set it all right in the end, and it isnt me. I just have to worry about preparing myself, and I have. I would encourage you to do the same. Have a great day sir.

      • JeffH

Jovi commie, I gather that what you are saying is to vote for the Marxist community organizer once again?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Really. She never worked to get where she is? Are you nuts. Maybe you better research her trail, to see how she got where she is. Now talking about being rich and not having to work for it. Can you tell me how Mr. Barack Obama, afforded to go to the ultra rich colleges he did, when he never had a job, and his daddy was a poor Kenyan, and his momma didnt have money either. How he went from a community organizer to the Illinois senate, on the democrats dime, without working for it, and then got them to spend millions on TV channels promoting him with one word – CHANGE. Now there is someone who has became rich, without having to work for it. The democrats used him to be get into power, and he became rich doing nothing, and hey pal, guess what, he is still doing nothing. There you go. You have been exposed in yet, another lie.

      • Red

She paid for her education unlike our current president. She has written a couple of best sellers, also unlike our president who had someone else write for him. She was a great governor and negotiated a revenue sharing contract for the people of Alaska with Exxon that few could have accomplished.

      • Johnnyrite

She has written best sellers? That is your criteria for President? If you want to go on that basis then you should get behind a campaign to elect Oprah for President! Trust me, Mrs. Palin didn’t write a word of those two books, she had it ghosted.

One final comment on Mrs. Palin and them I am out of the conversation. She has a damn good PR machine. I watched her “reality show”. Did anybody else see her pick up the hunting rifle? I grew up with guns. That was the first time in her life she ever shot one.

As I exit I have only one thing to say: Mr. Obama is killing America. I want a qualified Conservative as our next President. Supporting candidates like Mrs. Palin and Mr. Trump only hurt our chances. Ron Paul is the man for the job. He should have been elected President in 2000.

      • Average Joe

        Agreed!

      • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Bill

I liked Ron Paul until he voted to let gays in the military! He is not conservative, he’s a libertarian. I like most of what he says, but as a Viet Vet, I want someone else. I agree Palin could never win. I don’t blame her IQ, great leaders surround themselves with greta thinkers, case in point Reagan. He wasn’t a great mind, but he was a great leader.

      • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Bill

I screwed up! Obviously I meant ‘great’.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Gee, if thats the first time she has ever picked up a gun, then you are saying the liberal TV stations told huge lies when they accused her of shooting wolves out a helicopter. Isnt that right?

      • Patty

Not true Johnny: Palin announced that although she would have a collaborator to help, she would be doing a lot of the writing herself, employing her journalism skills and the personal diaries and notes that she had kept throughout her life.[7] Nonetheless, critics questioned whether Palin could write a book.[10]

Placing any credence in anything Crystal espouses is like taking a leap off a tall cliff with a short rope…it ain’t a good idea unless you want people to think you’re crazy.

Obama, by playing it perfectly, just isolated every “birther” candidate in the field. Americans do not like extremists. They are dangerous, reacitonary, narrow minded, for the most part extreme religious nutcases not good for the nation.

Pawlenty or Romney are the odds on favorites of the field to date. Both are good to put one to sleep, neither are ‘free’ from taint nor are they ‘free” from the money masters of the wealthy and big corporations (both foreign and domestic). As for the rest? good entertainment value and good for the Dems as they force the two mainstream cadidiates to go further towards the extremists to appease the TP nutcases currently having a major impact in the GOP.

However, with the GOP pulling every trick in the book to deny voters a chance to vote their choice, (such freedom loving patriotic folks those GOPers)… they may make it a close electoral college race, but it’s Obama in 2012 barring a catastrophe to our country. And who but anti patriotic folks would call for that to occur?

Jovi Anus doesn’t have enough brain cells to understand that whoever’s at the top of his hate list is most likely the best candidate for president.

C’mon Jovi, let’s see your list, in descending priority, of those potential candidates most likely to offend your delicate socialist sensibilities. I’ll wager you don’t have the guts to publish it here.

      • Jovianus

Vigilent..anyone to the left of Attila the Hun is a socialist in your mind.

My list of the top GOP possibles to get beat by Obama in 2012?

Pawlenty and Romney are at the top. Both would be the ones who would prevent a landslide though they’d get thrashed. Anyone else in the current field would result in a landslide win for the President.

      • Vigilant

“Pawlenty and Romney are at the top.”

You’re as disingenuous as they come. Pawlenty and Romney don’t stand a chance.

Let’s revise the question: which of the potential non-Democrat candidates most closely conforms to your idea of a good candidate, philosophy-wise? In other words, which candidate, in your mind, would do the least amount of damage to your cherished socialist ideals?

Speaking of that, you, jopa, Robert Smith, Eric Bischoff and a few others have never been reticent when it comes to spouting playbook socialism, and invariably deny they are socialists. You guys have neither the courage nor honesty of your convictions to fess up to what you really are. Pitiful people, to be sure.

      • Vigilant

Waiting for an answer, Jovi Anus. Or have you tucked the tail between your legs and slunk off to your weasels’s den?

      • Jovianus

Vigilant, I gave my thoughts of who in the currently recognized GOP list of candidates would be thrashed, and stated the remainder would be beaten in a landslide. There ya are..what is it you don’t understand?

Now..if you don’t want to utilize the benefits of what you termed ‘soialist’ polices..i suggest you quit using the roads (gov’t built), don’t use tap water (likely brought to you by a Corps of Engineers project), get off the electrical grid (infrastrructure courtesy of the US public, don’t even think of using a phone (gov’t regulated and subsidized), pay 50% higher for your food as it’s subisidized, and don’t walk the streets as walking safely is because the poor aren’t desparate to rob. Don’t call the police, use the courts, have a medical emergency, etc etc

Then you can say you don’t enjoy the benefits of Democrat policies. Oh yeah…hope you aren’t thinking of drawing SSI or using Medicare when you reach the age for those benefits.

      • Vigilant

Ignorance, thy name is Jovianus. When are you going to have the guts to answer my question?

Jovi says, ” I gave my thoughts of who in the currently recognized GOP list of candidates would be thrashed, and stated the remainder would be beaten in a landslide. There ya are..what is it you don’t understand?”

I don’t give a damn about “electability,” I’m asking a simple question of a simpler mind: which ones are closest to your idea of how government should be run? I realize it may be too much to ask of you that you understand the difference between “electability” and “suitability.” There ya are..what is it you don’t understand?

      • Jovianus

The closest Republican candidate to my political thought? Of the current rumored crop? Not even close, but the closest i’d say is Romney, though i’d not vote for him. You want to know where I am political philosophy Vigilante? Former Sen.Gordon Smith is a repubican I voted for in 2008, though he lost to a bumbling idiot. I’d say a close characterization of my pol. ideology is a Jackson Democrat….Scoop Jackson.

      • 2WarAbnVet

So, Jovi says the Repubs are using, “every trick in the book to deny voters a chance to vote their choice”. Pray tell, how? We’d never deny the government-supported parasites the opportunity to vote themselves more subsidies, and that’s the major reason why we have a problem. Oh, and don’t forget all the dead Dems who vote multiple times in every election, no ID necessary.

      • iam

Obama is an Extremist? Now THAT is hilarious! At the most, he’s a conservative Moderate. At worst, he’s a Moderate.

What is telling is that y’all are slamming him for the policies he has taken in regards to the war as well as the economic recovery we now have well under way from the disaster of eight years of the GOP running things. OK … and what exactly has any rational GOPer offered as an alternative to those policies?

Anyone want to try and detail what the alternatives to the economic and war policies the GOP offered up the past two years? You can’t …because the GOP NEVER offered any alternatives. None. And even today cannot state what they would have done different.

Y’all should be booked on Comedy Central…

      • omandm

You mean the Comedy Central that you run? What war policies are you talking about? Gettying out of Iraq by the deadline negotiated by President Bush, or arming Al Queida in Libya? • Harold Olsen

Obama is a lying, racist, America-hating Nazi scumbag!

      • Jovianus

Vigilant….who said i was to the left of the President? And yes…in almost every aspect he would be at the most liberal a Moderate, but usually as a conservative Moderate.

He never ‘nationalized” any auto company…we made money on the deal. He is realist enough to know an oil dependent economy is outdated and sure to struggle in the future years ahead. In some of the deals he’s made with the GOP to pass legislation, he’s cut a few Democratic throats in the process. He almost single handedly weakened Pelosi to where she had two years of ever weakening power and now is slowly fading from the power circles.

I fault him on the Wall Street issue. I think that there should be more scalps taken and there should be a larger movement towards breaking up the Big Banks and investment houses…so there never again will be any company “too big to fail”.

Though more deportations have been conducted than under any other presidential administration, I think he should do more on the immigration issue. I’d love to see more severe penalties on those who employ undocumented workers. Really hurting penalties with maybe 30 days in the county jail as mandatory along with hefty fines. (Cut off the jobs, no need to come here illegally)

I fault him for the health care reform…he should have stuck to his guns on the Public option.

He’s scaled up the war in Afghanistan (note which is against Muslim extremists), he’s started a reasonable withdrawl from Iraq, and he’s formed an international coalition against another Muslim extremist in Khaddafi (note: and none of our guys is invovled). Notice Chavez in Venezula is now quiet and not making any trouble, Russia is wary enough to be quiet, and China is being careful in playing with us.

Taxes were not raised (and he shouuld never have given in to the GOP threat on keeping the special tax tier for the wealthy).

Now what of the above points to anything but a Moderate or conservative Moderate?

      • Melbug W

The thing that you and others are leaving out of your comments is the word “Progressive”. It’s Progessive Democrats and Progressive Republicans that are screwing this country into the ground. They are one in the same. That’s why we look at ballot and say “there aint a dime’s worth of difference between them, should I vote for bad or worse?” The Progressives are the evil we must contend with. They will destroy our country and way of life if allowed to continue. Big government is oppressive, intrusive, and expensive. Patriots should vote for candidates that promise to reduce the size and scope of government and live by the Constitution. Citizens of a “nanny state” are like a pet dog. It has to subsist on what the master gives it, when the master pleases. The rules the master makes are the pen its kept in. And when the master is tired of them or doesn’t like them anymore…. the master will decide their fate.

        omandm,
I think he was refering to how he slammed Bush for getting us involved in two wars and then…….GOT US INTO ANOTHER!!!!

      • Patty

And just to let you know why GM is making a profit now: http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/04/09/obama-orders-government-to-buy-more-gm-cars/
So, not only did we have to spend billions to save them, now we have to by what they are producing with taxpayer funding of gov’t. cars.
27% of people are refusing to buy “Gov’t. Motors” cars because of the bail out. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/auto_industry/september_2010/27_avoid_buying_gm_cars_due_to_bailout

      • omandm

So typical of a liberal. Pawlenty or Romney put you to sleep? Last I looked Biden was asleep during the “inspiring” Obama speech.

If you want to dispute a point at least get your facts straight Mr. Jovianus

      • Vigilant

Jovi Anus will wake up only when some candidate yells “workers of the world, unite!”

Too bad for him the self-styled communists in this country have gone underground.

      • Harold Olsen

Perhaps Jovi Anus just has his head up his anus.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Vigilant,
when that happens you will hear a very loud POP!!! followed by a sonic boom!!!!

      • Danny Buckles

Jovianus sure that isn’t jovial because you sound like another one of those Obama clown acts. Seems like the whole demwitt pun intended party has turned into his little mindless hatchlings, at least republicans are birthed instead of hatched. I believe dems are hatched with chicken squatt for brains. Makes us proud to be called BIRTHERS by you hatchlings.

      • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Bill

The anti-patriot is Obamanation! He’s also the extremist, pull your head out!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Are you really that gone? I mean, come on man. You and I both know, that if it werent for Obama’s skin color, the democrats would have him removed from even running for re-election, and they would run Hillery or someone else, as he is totally un-electable. You can believe any liberal polls you want, they are are lies. Just like their reporting of unemployment being 10 percent. Its more like 16-19 percent, but the liberal press cant report the truth about that now, can they? No, they lie, and they will always lie, and they are not about to let the public know that obama’s popularity is actually about 32 percent, and that he doesnt have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting re-elected. Get real man, stick a fork in him, he’s done.

      • Patty

And the only reason that unemployment is creeping down is because of the people who are losing their 99 weeks of benefits, because they are not counting them in their numbers.

      • Isaac Davis

jovial annular orifice; just what brand of kook-aid does it require to think that Conservatives, in support of the single document that divine intervention created to FORM this Constitutional Republic, are bought by anyone? Self-Reliance, the ability to scrutinize the evidence in front of them, the ceaseless efforts to question all that appears to be in order-and find that it is quite the opposite. Where, pray tell, are roving bands of GOP out threatening the masses into voting one way or another? Do you have the slightest fragment of a clue who soros is? (intentionally not capitalized) Do you have the slightest fragment of Integrity, Character, Initiative and Independence truly mean? Can you construct a thought that isn’t just a rage against something that you “heard” from a liberal/socialist/marxist gas-bag? Do you know what Agenda 21 is about? Do you understand that this Constitutional Republic was won with the blood and treasure of Americans who thought not of themselves but of their POSTERITY in fighting to become a Free Nation of Liberty? Government is the root cause of every despicable problem we face today as a nation through social engineering (Detroit), manipulating/decimating our currency (our $1 is now comparable to 4-cents in 1913), taxing the Spirit of America and her entrepreneur Citizens off the shores/into bankruptcy, and ushering in the escalating cost of petroleum on bogus policies and moratoriums designed to do nothing but destroy the sovereign wealth of Americans.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I find all left wing liberals to be extremists, because they dont think or act like normal people, so I agree with your vision on extremists.

    • Patriot

If brains had anything to do with it, we would not have Obama. Probably the dumbest man ever to be President, when off the teleprompter he is a complete Moron!

      • Jovianus

I know, Harvard Law Review editor is reserved for low intelligence folks. uh huh …. jeesh ….

      • omandm

thanks to affirmative action…of course they would

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Jovi… He only said he went to Harvard. We still haven’t seen the transcripts.

      • Harold Olsen

According the Glenn Beck, there is no record of Obama ever attending Harvard and the only record of him being a law professor is as a guest lecture on a single occasion.

      • Jovianus

        According to glenn beck ….lol

Please go online and google harvard Law Review. look for the year when he was Editor. ’nuff said about any question about attending harvard. Next…look up online the Harvard yearbook section. Look to the section listing those who graduated. ’nuff said there.

Criminey…buncha fruitcakes if those are the claims believed these days.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Thats right Jovi Anus. They have talked to many Harvard professors, and the enrollment offices, and they all seem to say they have no remembrance of Barack Obama or Barry Soetore ever having gone there. Nor did the other college he supposedly attended. Imagine that.

      • Danny Buckles

Don’t sling your harvard law degree bullcrap around. If he has such a thing to claim why is he refusing to let his records be made public. And why was his license removed oh I forgot voluntarily submitted ha ha ha

      • billyboy

Any reference to Glenn Beck automatically disqualifies your comment!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

So billy boy doesnt like Glenn Beck. Then it is safe to assume, billyboy doesnt accept or know the truth. Thats the bottom line on that guy.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

How do we know he was the Law Review editor?

Because he says so, that’s why.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Just because someone goes to Harvard law school, doesnt make them smarter than me Jovi Anus. It might make them think they are smarter, but it doesnt. Many of them think so high of themselves, that all they care about is making money, and spend their lives chasing the almighty dollar. That proves their stupidity to me. What a waste of time.

    • zebra

What about Ron Paul! Why was he not mentioned as a candidate?

      • DaveH

Both Republican and Democrat leaders (and their Crony-Capitalists) are afraid of Ron Paul. They will do all they can to suppress him.

      • Average Joe

I think the question was why was he not mentioned here…on this site…Is Mr. Crystal afraid of Ron Paul? Does he disagree with Ron Paul’s veiws? Is he puposefully or inadvertantly leaving Dr. Paul from his list? These are fair questions that deserve honest answers Mr. Crystal.

      • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Bill

Ron Paul NO = Rand Paul YES

    • DaveH

We don’t need somebody with brains. We need somebody that recognizes that the rest of us know better how to run our own lives than they do (no matter how intelligent they are).
Quit throwing away your votes on people who think they know what’s best for you and who think that one size fits all.
For those of you who were around in the 50s, are your lives better now? My sure isn’t. And we have twice as much Government as we had then. Can you learn from your mistakes? I can, that’s why I vote for people that want to butt out of our personal choices and butt out of the marketplace. Let the consumers choose who should succeed and who should fail. Don’t let the bought-and-paid-for politicians make those choices.
      Vote Libertarian!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You got that part right Dave, about those in politics “think they know what is best for us”, and it is most prevalent with the left wing liberals. I myself am sick of watching decisions that both sides make, that I know dont represent how I feel, and how the majority of us feel. I know I was appalled when this one in power now, went on a national apology tour apologizing to terrorists nations that want us dead, for us being successful. I was appalled when he used our money to buy lawyers for terrorists caught trying to kill us. Appalled. I was appalled when he gave billions of OUR dollars to GM and Chrysler. They cant properly run a business, let the close, and let someone else step up that will do it right. Government intervention leads to bad things, and this is no exception. When the banks collapsed, and this guys team saw fit to point the fingers at someone else, when their own party set it up back in the Clinton days, again, I found that appalling. When the republicans decide to “reach across the aisle”, and get in bed with these guys to pass afew things, I find that appalling. No deals with the devil need to be made. Just say no. Im ready for a change, as I cant take this business as usual much longer, and neither can our country.

    • Nadzieja Batki

Palin is a female version of Obama.God help us if this phoney ever won the presidency.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You prove the inadequacy of your education with this statement. Have a good day.

    • Paul

      Ben,
Despite the fact that most of these “candidates” have not officially announced their intention to run, you have managed, along with the rest of the media out there, to leave off one who has announced his his candidacy, and who is the only one with a spine…Ron Paul.
