Violent Deflation

April 27, 2011 by

Violent Deflation

The other day, I walked into the Royal Café in the town of Vulcan, Alberta. The café is on Centre Street, a dozen miles west of the family homestead whose lone curator is my uncle, Dick Myers. The café has not been redecorated since I was a kid, but nobody seems to notice.

I sat across from my uncle. I could be in a time warp, except for the teenage waitress sitting nearby, eagerly texting someone.

My uncle’s sharp blue eyes looked tired. I imagine 83 years of farming will do that. He has seen much hard work and hardship. Born in 1927, he grew up during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl.

As my uncle gulped the thick black coffee, I could tell his mind was not on the long winter that had delayed seeding by weeks.

He quickly told me he is worried about the growing protests that threaten our fragile world. I listened because I love and respect him. My uncle’s farm once spanned to the horizon, and the cattle he once herded numbered in the thousands. But he didn’t want to talk about wheat or livestock.

My uncle said that when he was a boy, hobos would come to the homestead. My grandfather did well with the section of land he farmed, so my grandmother always had some scraps to give to hungry men. But times were tough, and some neighbors did not have food to spare. My uncle reminisced that hungry travelers would tip their hats and move along without malice.

“The world has changed,” Dick said, “and not for the better.”

I sipped my coffee, which had been brewed in an old stovetop percolator, and nodded in agreement. The waitress was talking on her iPhone, loudly commiserating about her weekend plans with her boyfriend. I didn’t mention the irony.

Dick leaned over the table: “Middle East violence… these protests in Europe; I wouldn’t be surprised if it spreads. And who knows where it will end? If this economy doesn’t stay afloat, then there is going to be hell to pay.

“It won’t be like it was when I was a kid,” Dick explained. “If times get tough and people come on to a property and ask for something, there won’t be no saying ‘no.’ Nowadays, people take what they want.”

On the drive home, I thought about what my uncle had said. I wanted to share it. There are agitated protestors from London to Liberia. Some are even protesting the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Others, like Muslim rampages over the burning of the Quran, have obvious roots and will have more serious consequences. And war rages in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.

Much of the world is becoming violent, and I don’t have any reason to believe North America is immune from this trend.

What The Ruling Elite Fears Most

Nobody in Washington fears the deflation the way my uncle does, or the way your parents or grandparents might. Our leaders are too young to have lived through it. The closest facsimile is Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke — a student of the Great Depression, the architect behind trillion dollar bailouts of banks and automakers, and the man in charge of quantitative easing (the process in which the Fed creates money out of thin air by buying up Treasury debt).

The second-phase QE2 accounted for the purchase of $600 billion in Treasury debt. In all, the Federal government has injected about $2 trillion into the U.S. economy.

I don’t believe former President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama were eager to save their friends in the banking business. Say what you will about both of them, but I think they are shrewd men.

Instead, I believe both their administrations have systematically flooded the U.S. economy with borrowed money because Washington is terrified of what would happen if deflation ever got a grip on America.

The Obama administration and Bernanke fear that a massive destruction of wealth and jobs will lead to widespread protests and violence. As a result, the Federal government has pumped money into the economy, even as it has sacrificed the dollar.

What has yet to be determined is whether it will succeed or not.

Deflation Threat Still Lingers

Great wealth could be wiped out in a couple of weeks if a bear market commenced in stocks and bonds. Bonds might be the most vulnerable, because the Fed has said it will stop further quantitative easing. Meanwhile, the Fed funds rate is effectively at zero, the lowest it has been since the Great Depression.

The only direction for interest rates to go is up. Bond prices move in the opposite direction of interest rates, so higher rates will mean that bonds are less valuable. The U.S. bond market is worth approximately $25 trillion dollars. Therefore, even a 6 percent or 7 percent spike in interest rates could erase $2 trillion in assets.

Higher interest rates also hurt big corporations. Companies that have been able to borrow have done so at interest rates not seen in more than half a century. This has allowed at least some companies to expand. But if interest rates rise, U.S. companies will stop expanding and cease hiring.

Unemployment is already at 9 percent, and real unemployment is close to 16 percent. This is as good as it has gotten, with record-low interest rates from the Fed and the unprecedented expansion of the U.S. money supply. Higher interest rates are coming down the pike, and they could ignite another — even worse — recession. They might even lead to a depression.

A crashing economy will create social unrest. We have seen it in the Middle East and in Europe.

Action to take

Take steps now to prepare for the worst:

  • Stock up on emergency rations of food and water.
  • Store medicines, such as antibiotics.
  • Make your residence more secure.
  • Develop a plan to protect your family in case of a crisis.
  • Keep on hand some cash. Store it in a home safe, if you can afford one. As a last resort, 1-ounce silver coins may come in handy if you have to barter for basics.

Should the U.S. economy crash, disaster will inevitably follow. Those who have prepared for the worst will be grateful that they did.

Yours in good times and bad,

The regressive depressive dumbobats and the multi freak groups that make up the marxist/communist socialist oarty, want to government to controll everything. Best thing USA could do is stop welfare programs, and send the worthless slubs out in homestead and live on all the worthless parks and government land. It would keep all these puke scumbags busy doing something just to survive, instead of destroying neigherhoods and breeding like worthless rats. There would be deflation and it would really hit over seas when the billion are stopped from going to our enemies. It will be a rough road to restore the real value to markets instead of the gaming done now with all the “programs” create by the beltway s–t birds in the beltway!

  • Raggs

Real nice hoppy changy stuff isn’t it?

  • Robert

we have saw it comming and ignored it. we knew what would happen and turned our back on it. now we have arrived and we expect better and want more, but we allowed it to happen by voting for more more more. we were educated by the illeterate liberals and socialists to think our forefathers were stupid and we are here where truth is comming to roost. we do not like what is comming but we are to blame and we will have to live with what we did. our children and grandchildren will have to try to survive and reclaim what we had but lost. but alas i fear they will notg he able to regali it Who is john galt?

  • Moonsi

Good suggestion list for prepareness. The dollar’s day is numbered Get prepared. Precious metals are your insurance against the maddness of the system. FOOD IS important & water is as well, and lots of prayers. We can only do so much, and it’s up to God to sustain us.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

There is a day coming, when no matter how much precious metal or money or food you have will do you any good. All those things are fading and will one day be gone. But the word of God will live forever, as will His reign. We as humans, so many of us either forget that, dont know that, or just dont care. Man is obsessed with the possession of material, be it land, money, silver or gold, women, cars, houses. But all that is fading, and will be destroyed one day, and none of it will save you. Just as a man who may be dying this very day, whether he be filthy rich, or dirt poor, there isnt enough money or riches in the world that mean a thing, as he will die, and those things will be left behind. Yet man spends his life in search of accumulating earthly riches, that he cannot take with him. What a waste of time. Further proof, that this isnt why we are here. If it were, we would take our stuff with us. But its all in vain, chasing after wealth. Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all this other stuff will be added to you. Its like this. Things we see, are all fading and going away, all temporary, but the unseen, that is what is eternal. Just maybe we should focus a little more on that.

Where is the world at? I am in Southern Africa, seeing Southern Africa fail, fail harder due to the crunch but none the less they share the social(ist) asperations of handouts. Having being gouged in Zimbabwe I note there are rarely single long drops but when things go pairshaped sequences of drops with plateaus. There are opportunities to choose the hard incline with the work it entails, we see UK making solid but slow headway in this manner, however the world’s main economy the USA has gone from plateau to lower plateau. Eventually there will be no more resources to milk and that printing of money becomes the only way for govt to pay it’s bills………

    John Myers,
I’ve been living in Calgary for some years now. My wife and I considered moving to Arizona, (my home state) a few years ago but decided against it for obvious reasons. Globalists and their idiot sycophants are taking America down the tubes very quickly and when the time is right Canada will follow without a whimper.
(unless of course there is serious resistance)
We have begun to actively look into buying land down south…a long way south, where we might finish out our lives with some degree of liberty and dignity.
So just a note to say thank you for your efforts and comments.
Keep fighting the good fight and maybe I’ll run into you in downtown Calgary one of these days.

    • John Myers

Thank you for the kind comments JC.

Yes down south… but I am not exactly sure how that works. An old friend of mine, David Nichols who writes a very good investment letter and who is very smart person did some land development around Rosarito, Mexico. As I recall, and this is going back more than a decade, his company could only lease the land.

My wife Angela and I raised our family in Spokane, WA. I very much miss America, or should I say the American people. I do think Canada has many good things to offer. I guess others do as well. The Canadian dollar was trading around 63 cents a decade ago. Now it is at $1.05

      Sincerely,

      John Myers

      • JC

        Greetings John,

Actually we’re looking at Central America. We’ve found a nation there that gives clear property entitlement and seems relatively stable.
While it helps to speak Spanish, more people there speak English than in Miami. ;)
Also they are under Roman law, which means that you have a right to self defense, and conceal carry is the norm.
Ocean front land can be had for between 20 and 40K for an acre or two.
We’re heading down there next month to see if it is actuually viable.

While I’ve come to enjoy and appreciate Canada and Canadians very much, I miss the American people too. Sadly both are being subjected to Socialism and an advancing Globalist agenda…and don’t seem to realize where it is taking them.

        Be Well, JC

      • John Myers

Good luck to you JC in your new adventure! Please keep us updated on how things work for you.
        All the best,
        John

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I live in Indiana, and my idea of retiring down south is in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Let them come into the mountains to take the guns and freedoms away. Good luck with that.

  • Dan az

With the bloated size of big government it is obvious that they know what they are doing. When it takes a trillion dollars just to pay the wages and bennies of this this corrupt system how can anyone say that things can be fixed. There are more people working for the guv than there is middle class workers that pay their wages. The system is broken, there is noway to turn it around, even if they kick out the feds and file bankruptcy the amount of debt is not sustainable. The debt that is bankrupting the states is not sustainable.SSI is Broke!
they new what they where doing and by not closing the borders and allowing 51 million illegals in to help there cause to break the states and stack the polls they knew what they where doing.Creating a nation of welfare that they can control would be allot easier to dictate. They also know that there is know way that a civil war would be to there benefit so they control the food and water and electricity and they control the masses. We have been had big time!So the way I see it is we all need to to prepare for the worst because there is no way it can be avoided.Guns for food and water may be next if they have their way.Im sure the progs and libs would be the first in line.Paper money will only be good for one thing, using it as toilet paper. We need to teach the next generation exactly what happened and how it happened.Because If they have their way I’m sure it wont be in the history books maybe just a quotation that says bush did it!Marshal law is just around the corner people stay alert!

    • 45caliber

I agree. The ONLY real way I can see to solve this without civil war is to dissolve the country and then disown the debt. This would result in a number of much smaller countries – each with their own “leadership” – and considering what I know of the One Worlders, this is part of their plan.

I also suspect the countries will end up being the NW, California, the SW, Texas (plus possibly OK), the MW, the South, the states around Chicago, and the NE. They plan to get the Mexican permission by giving them the SW, Texas, and California. (Except I doubt if those in Texas would end up going that way.) They would take the NE along with as much of the Atlantic seaboard as they can into the South.

The South has people and some raw materials along with some military bases. The NE has people and bases but little raw materials except coal and a little oil off the Mass. coast. The MW has the farms but not too many people and little military or known raw materials. The NW has some raw materials but not too many people and few military. California hasn’t a lot of raw materials but does have farming, people, and military. The SW has raw materials but people and military are down. Texas has oil, people, and military. Forget Alaska and Hawaii; they aren’t in the picture at all.

Once they have everything established they can reform parts of the country by diplomacy or militarily – they think. California would be intended to take over the NW and the SW. the NE would be expected to take over the rest – expect probably for Texas.

We’ll see what they do – unfortunately.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

They can have California. It is a welfare state, and will all soon be a part of Mexico. English is already the second language there, and the state is so bankrupt from illegal immigration and liberal hand outs, that I know I dont want to be a part of that mess. Put a wall around it now, and let the liberals all live in peace with each other. But cut the government handouts, and see how they fare.

  • http://none Margaret

The ‘Fed’ was ‘queitly audited and the elite owned media didn’t report it. It turned up that they couldn’t account for 13 trillion dollars. That’s why R. Paul is no longer calling for an audit.

Go to http://www.repuublicfortheunitedstates.org and read the history – and then LEAVE the corrupt FAKE system, and join the true original republic that the founders gave to us!

    • JIBBS

That website in pure entertainment bs, I’ve seen several like it before, I hope you did not send them any money. It sounds like it was “cooked up” by the dems to quite those that “think” for themselves.

  • jimeee

Currently there are approximately 13 million seniors in the US between 55 and 69. If only 25% of us formed a loose coalition and marched on DC it might wake a few of these fools up to the fact We the People have had enough of their BS. We would be in sufficient numbers we could quite literally shut that city down until we were heard.
Would it do any good? Has agreeing with each other via the internet done any good? Has writing endless letters of protest done any good? There simply has to be a way for our generation to make a difference, we are still a powerful force and CAN make a difference. For heavens sake, We may be the last generation that can make a difference. Sadly, but in all honesty it is our generation that let thing get this out of hand and perhaps before we all leave this existence WE should try to fix what is still fixable. It would be nice if our great and great-great grandchildren could be told stories of how we helped save the Republic during the turbulent times of the early 21st century, and not stories of how we did Nothing at all.

    • Don

jimeee, i agree with you 100 %, a three million strong army,, they would have to notice !!

      • Marty S.

O.K. then let’s set a date. Im also tired of the chat but no action. What is the TEA Party up to these days? Maybe its time for all conservatives no matter the political party to converge on Washington. How about July 4th?

    • 45caliber

      jimeee:

Keep in mind whose finger is on the nuclear button. Do you think for a moment they wouldn’t press it if there was any organized or semi-organized move to march on Washington to throw them out? I don’t care what others were also there in the blast area, I believe they would do it. They would insist that those marching were the reason those others were killed – and they would use the march as an excuse to install martial law on the country. And in that event, all protections under the laws are thrown out the window. Clinton even made a study to determine just what would be required to force the police and military to fire on our own citizens. They believe that if 10% of the existing force were to shoot, the rest would have to shoot to defend themselves from the citizens.

      • karolyn

        That is just plain crazy!

      • 45caliber

Yup, that basically describes most of them.

      • Patty

Karolyn – Which part is crazy? Wasn’t there a million man march, are you old enough to remember Kent State, Ruby Ridge, this progression has been going on incrementally since Kennedy.
        http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/iron_mountain.htm
        May sound crazy, but…..

    • Buddy

So called “seniors” are not going to march on the source of their “Social Security” handouts. Most are immature baby boomers who have been spoiled by the good life (on credit).

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Buddy,
Each and every one of those Seniors paid into social security for their entire working life!! It is not a hand out!! Also about 70% of those “spoiled” boomers you speak of have served in combat. Have you, sonny boy????

      • sylviam

Joe– I am one of those seniors was living in Baltimore with my mom around the end of the great depression. My mom worked and we had RATION STAMPS, just like everyone else I was just a child but remember it as if it were yesterday everything was RATIONED, but we helped our neighbors out when it was possible.
And no I cannot march but I can WHEEL my self if it became nessessary to do that, and by the way I HAVE BEEN withing spitting distance to the capital in PROTESTS before and would do it again today.
AND THANK YOU, but my small check is NOT A GOV. HAND OUT, I have worked all my adult life & paid into what I draw, further more I would give it to you If I thought it would wake you up from your NAP and get educated to the fact that it is the YOUNGER generation that is taking a HAND OUT FROM THE GOV. 99% of them never worked a day in their useless life. SO get off with your LEBERAL SPEWING of PROPAGANDA
        GOD BLESS AMERICA

      • http://?? Joe H.

        silviam,
I think you meant your post for buddy!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Wow. You are quick to demean the very people who fought and many died, to give you the freedoms you have today. Without them, you might not be here because the Nazi’s may have exterminated your whole family. And you wouldnt be speaking english either. And did not all those baby boomers, all pay heavily into social security for 40, 50 and 60 years? If it wasnt for crooked politicians, the social security bank roll would be bulging, just from the contributions from these same baby boomers that you demonize. Shame on you man. You need to look at the facts before you open your alligator mouth, and get it in front of your butterfly ass.

  • H. Kirk Rainer

Great story…of the Great Depression generation that remember still what a financial crisis can do to a society; and for the few that I’ve known, their experience left profound meaning.

    DEAR HURRICANE GLEN:

GOOD POST! WHEN I GRADUATED INDIANA UNIVERSITY IN 1954, I OBSERVED THAT WHEN COMMUNICATION AND TRANSPORTATION GOT WIDESPREAD
I.E. GLOBAL, THE REST OF THE WORLD WOULD SEE HOW WE LIVED AND NOT BE AT ALL WILLING TO TAKE “A CRUST” WHEN WE HAD THE “PIE”. I’M SURE THAT OTHERS SAW WHAT WAS COMING BUT CHOSE TO SHUT THEIR EYES AND THINK ONLY OF THEIR NEXT ELECTION OR THEIR TIME ON EARTH –NOT EVEN OF THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN! SELFISHNESS IS ONE OF THE SEVEN (7) DEADLY SINS –FEW EVEN ARE AWARE OF “SIN” NOW. WHAT AN INGLORIOUS END TO OUR WONDERFUL REPUBLIC!

  • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

    John:

Good article and good advice. For those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

I too have an older uncle. He, however, is 94 and retired from farming the family farm in the mid-west. At about 83 he turned it over to his son and a nephew. He has stories similar to your uncle as did my dad.

My mother-in-law- 94 -talks about not knowing they were poor as EVERYBODY was poor. They had enough to eat because they too lived on a farm. She also talks about folks coming around looking for something to eat – hobos and “Gypsies”. If her folks had extra they would help out the strangers. If not the strangers would move on down the road without a fuss.

I have been saying for 20 plus years as your uncle states that when the crash comes it will not be pretty as there is no longer any moral fiber in our people.

I guess living in Canada where you allowed your socialist government to steal your guns you forgot to advise folks to buy guns and LOTS of ammunition. We will need them in today’s world as it will not be hobos, it will be gangs of gang-banger scum who know nothing but stealing and “guvment” hand-outs. There are 4 and 5 generations who have not had to do anything but sit around and wait for all the free stuff.

    • JC

Always enjoy your comments Henry, just one correction though.
Per capita, Canada is the third most heavily armed populace in the world behind Switzerland and the US. The guns haven’t been confiscated nor are they hard to get. Licensing and registration are Canada’s policy at the moment.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Thanks JC. I knew about Switzerland (read it here I think), but had no idea about our northern neighbors.

That is comforting as we may need to become “brothers in arms”.

    • John Myers

      Dear Old Henry,

Thanks for your kind words. My late parents told me many stories about the Great Depression and I know it fundamentally changed them. My dad graduated with a gold medal from college in 1929 and didn’t get a chance at writing for well over a decade. Even though they were very successful later in their lives he and my mother always smoked their cigarettes right down to the butt. She said it came from a time when they weren’t sure when there would be another cigarette.

      Sincerely,

      John Myers

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

John, I believe you are right on about the Depression fundamentally changing our parents. It had to be a horrific period in time, or as we say it here – TIME. HA!

Maybe that is why we “boomers” are so self-involved as a rule. Our folks, ah shall we say, over-compensated with us due to what they had endured.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

My father is almost 87, and still collects things from rummage sales saying they are going to be worth money someday, as he doesnt realize all this stuff he collected he should have been sold and enjoyed by himself and my mom 20 years, before she died from smoking non filtered cigarettes for 45 years, as she too smoked them down to the last bit, worrying about not wasting anything.

    • 45caliber

      Old Henry:

I think the ONLY reason that we haven’t already had the crash was because too many Americans own guns and will defend themselves and their families. Once we have the crash there will be a lot of people who have been bred and trained to be “takers” who will rove the area and take from and kill all the ones who they think might have something – unless those people are able to protect themselves.

Most of these “takers” will not be willing to fight; they are simply murderers who attack the helpless. Most won’t be able to fight; if someone stands up to them they will die as they run or die as they try to hide. Some gangs will fight but still prefer to not walk into a battle; they want to attack and kill before others are aware of it.

So that is the main reason I believe that gun control and confiscation is coming. They know they won’t get all the guns but they expect to get enough from the honest people to leave the majority open to attacks from the “takers”. Later they can hunt down and kill the “takers” since they will be the primary survivors in their utopia who aren’t trying to hide.

      • Cawmun Cents

I believe that I once saw a sign with a photo of Adolf Hitler on it,his right hand raised in the familiar Nazi salute, and the caption of the sign read,”Anyone for gun control, raise your right hand.”At the bottom it said,”paid for by the Jewish Defense League.”If that isnt a clear warning I dont know what is.-CC

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        CC,

That would be a GREAT tee shirt! I will try and suggest it to the NRA as it would sell like hot cakes!

Sounds like the people in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, looting and stealing all they could get away with. They obviously dont know, that before, currently, and in later years, no good comes from ill gotten gain. That is just they way it was written long, long ago. Blessed are the fruits of our labor, but no good comes from ill gotten gain. Proverbs 10:2 and Psalms 128:2

The so-called “Arab Spring” is nothing more than people seeing the western world and wanting to be a part of the precieved wealth they see. Unfortunately, when all the dictators fall, the void will be filled with radical islamists who will whip their hoards of dissapointed minions into a frenzy against the “western devils” and will again invade Israel. The US and some of the Euro’s will have no choice but to jump in and that will be the start of WW3. Actually, it has already started. This war will be long, bloody and will be fought everywhere there are large populations of muslims. Get your house in order!!!! The real tough times are coming and it may be many years before we see prosperous days hear in the USA.

    • EltonJ

Prosperous days won’t come until after the nukes fall and wipe out our largest cities. America *will* bounce back, but not until after a debilitating famine.

We will pave our streets with gold once we are prosperous again.

      • Buddy

You’re probably somewhat correct, Elton. We will see much conflict and devastation, but the survivors in what was formerly the USA will probably make a viable comeback.

The easiest way for a dictator/leader to keep the people following him in bad times is aim them at some enemy. Hitler did it by pointing the people at Jews. The Arabs are trying to do the same thing. And many are already pointing at the US as “the Great Satan” for the same reason. They know – and don’t care – that most of their people will die but with any luck they will remain in power of what is left – and remaining in power is more important than what is left.

It would not be long at all. Remember when all those nations attacked Israel in the 7 day war? What was there, Egypt, Iran, Iraq and I dont know how many others, all attacked them. And Israel kicked their butt in 7 days. God will not allow them to be destroyed by these muslim fanatics. Its not going to happen.

Dont let the goverment sell our oil, gas, metals, wood and other natural assets to China or others to pay the debt, its a land an resource grab.

Look how much land the goverment is gobbling up. Add to this they will not let anyone (American), or company extract resources…its all to similar to an old fashioned resource theft done to 3rd world nations, only on a scale fitting the size of China…

I believe that it was called the Public Domain – or something Domain that Bush had enacted before he left office. They can sell all the metals and land and even lease water front that they want to other countries – BUT these countries will not own [expletive deleted]. There is no clear title. The government can go in and take it back. That was National Security that was snuck over the Dumbo Demo’s. After that I believe that it was Dubai that was bidding on the contract to run some of our Major east coast Ports (Import / Export). This is really when peoples eyes started to open. Unfortunately they have closed back.

    • Eddie47d

FF; That sounds nice but how will we pay off our debt to China? By default? We already ship mega tons of coal and timber to Asia/China. We take resources from the Middle East so it is probably natural that someone else takes from us.

      • DaveH

We pay off our debts by freeing up our markets so people can do what they do best, unfettered by the high taxes and regulatory burden promoted by Big Centralized Government. Put those Government consumers of wealth back to being producers of wealth in the private sector.

I say if our GOV. is selling OUR resources to CHINA or anyone else that we OWE money to then OVER-CHARGE them for the goods or KIKE the TAXES on them to the point that we are PAID IN FULL. THEN STOP ALL SALES. Thats what CHINA has done to us all around the world, and OTHERS are doing to us now.

The Law of Supply and Demand is one that no one can simply ignore.

Back in 1965 Johnson and those before had used the military to control that as much as possible. If there was too much supply, they would draft more people into the military. If there wasn’t enough supply, they would release some back to the civilian life.

But with the diminished military and repeal of the draft, they went to a think tank to come up with a similiar solution. They suggested using “Welfare” for short term affects only. They pointed out that if the government allowed people to remain on it for longer periods, many would never attempt to get off it.

Right now one of the reasons we have a large government is that they are trying to control the supply of produced goods – particularly since they have lost so much foreign demand for our goods. Consider – if we immediately put everyone on the government payroll (“workers” and welfare people), our production would double. Where would we get rid of the excess production?

They did it in the 1940s by exporting ammo. As one professor pointed out to me once, a war is the best way to increase exports – you send the stuff overseas and immediately use it up needing even more.

        Now?

      • DaveH

So we can double the production by putting people on the Government payroll? Put down that bong, 45.

      • DaveH

A professor told you that? No wonder the kids are so messed up.
Start reading at Mises.org, 45, and learn some economics, please.

      • DaveH

There is only one way that war would benefit an economy, and that is if it spurs people to work harder and become more productive. But I doubt even that would make up for the tremendous loss of life and wasted resources. Read this please:

I understand, 45. But you did say it wrong. Thanks for clarifying.

We have the oil here, all over Montana and Wyoming and Idaho and Texas and California, Nevada, and many more places, but due to listening to the green meanies, we stay enslaved by the Arab nations buying their oil, and continue the biggest transfer of wealth in history. Thats because as lawyers, they have prostituted the law to empower themselves and keep it coming. They have written the rules of engagement, so that seemingly no matter what you do, a lawyer gets paid. Just look at how our society is run. You pay a lawyer to build a building. You pay to go to court, whether offense or defense. You pay them to run for office. You pay them when your done wrong. You pay them when youve done someone else wrong. You pay them to do almost everything. Its a crock.

Supposedly it was done before the Civil War. That was one reason things changed so much during the war. I know it has been suggested several times. A governor of Alabama tried it back about 1970 – Jim Andrews I believe his name was. His argument was that due to their profession they were already members of the judicial branch and allowing them to be elected to the executive and legislative branches would give them power over all three. He didn’t get very far.

Note that it was NOT Deflation that gave our country ten years of Great Depression. And it was NOT Deflation that gave our country the current economic malaise (maybe our last, one way or the other). Big Government gave us BOTH. They are systematically fleecing the ignorant citizens. I don’t mean “ignorant” in a bad way, it’s understandable that most people don’t have the time to learn about money and Big Government’s meddling.

Do not swallow any more of the Federal Reserve’s and Big Government’s Propaganda. Read this book to learn how Big Government and the Federal Reserve were at the root of the Great Depression. We may not be able to stop the collapse (too many takers), but at least we can educate our children and grandchildren so maybe they have a chance in the future to better their lives:

It is refreshing to see that so many of us understand what our government has done to this great Republic. But, we must organize and register voters who need to turn the tide in 2012 if it isn’t too late. Rid ourselves of the power brokers from both parties who continue to drag us under the water time and time again. It is indeed time for the voters to come forward and be heard, and to do the task our forefathers assigned to us.

Boehner must go. When he was put in the Speaker’s positon I was sure that the fix was in. And he has not disappointed. Look at the way he got rolled by Barry and Reid earlier this month.

I wish Bachmann had made a run for Speaker. As Rush put is some time ago: “The only ones in the Republican Party with gondads wear skirts”.

I do not think she can be elected president, but she would be VERY formidable as Speaker.

These guys fear violence with deflation, but have they not read the history of past hyperinflations (e.g., Weimar Germany)? Societies survive deflation, as horrible as it is. We did. The Japanese did. Societies do not survive systematic currency debasement. Destroy the currency & social order, mores and everything else go out the window along with it. These guys made the worser of two bad choices and now we have to live with the aftermath.

After all, why do they presently record and monitor ALL forms of communications? Every computer, every phone, every fax machine has a chip that records what goes through it and is copied to Washington and scanned for code words. Those that are picked up are then reviewed by people. Clinton called it the “Privacy Improvement Act.”

    DaveH, Anthony and Michael;

You said all that is necessary. When the jackass sets in motion, or continues the plunge into the abyss of destroying personal wealth, and then stands up in front of an audience and says that jacking up taxes will pay for the TRILLIONS that he signed off on as if he had nothing to do with it–that absurdity, blasphemy even, just cannot be fathomed. Some say that this is “brilliance” on the jackass’ part, but I still cannot get beyond just how stupid someone has to be before the reality of “BROKE” kicks them squarely in the teeth.

    • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Isaac Davis… Your post has so much truth to it. We are broke but Washington continues on with politics as usual.
Barry is already in campaign mode (like he ever really was out of it?), which will mean he will be jetting here and there and making speeches. To hell with Washington business! Our country is teetering on the brink of destruction and his only agenda is to get reelected!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Thats also because Barry and his party will never be held accountable by the national television media and newspapers. They forever get a free pass, while still, pointing the fingers and blaming others, for this giant hole they have dug. Until this society decides to finally start holding people accountable for their actions, and quit blaming others, we will not get any better as a society. When those who will not work get a free pass and the government continues to reward them with huge free dollars and food stamps and baby food and formula and housing, they will keep multiplying, laying around and not working, while the rest of us get blamed for it, and they get rewarded. Until we straighten this thinking out, were screwed.

      • Disgusted

Bullseye! This redistribution of wealth agenda is bull! I am sick and tired of paying for those that don’t care to work, they can they just don’t care to.

      • Eddie47d

How will we stop them from “laying around and multiplying”. That is the conservative question of the day. Actually we hear what you said almost everyday from someone but no one wants to confront the hard facts. Both the left and the right talk about individual rights. Where the poor can be as stupid and ignorant as they want and the rich can fleece them and make millions without skipping a beat. We have folks on both sides of the equation who are ripping us apart yet we are afraid to confront these issues with solutions. The wealthy have become just plain greedy and uncaring and the poor got their package deal from the government and they aren’t giving it up. No more excuses from the rich or the poor. Tax the bloated salaries of the wealthy and cut the benefits off to the poor. Get back to the 2 year limit for benefits on welfare. I thought we tried to stop this generational welfare scam? Pass out birth control if we have to, that has got to be cheaper. After one child then the next child goes up for adoption. The conservatives always shoot themselves in the foot by attacking Planned Parenthood where women do get birth control. Where they can make their own choice for abortion services so they aren’t continually on welfare. You can’t have it both ways by cutting off the solution and then wondering why they have kids they can’t take care of. If conservatives can’t go into all neighborhoods but especially poorer communities and teach men and women responsibility. Then you will always end up with the same results. Take action or stop complaining about the tax money going towards welfare. On the opposite end you have the wealthy playing us all like a fiddle with their tax havens and lousy marketing scams without creating jobs. They take without giving back and some think they are gods. How about voting in a real populist who’s not afraid to take on the rich and poor alike. Someone who truly believes in personal responsibility from the wealthy and the poor. We always see the problems but don’t want our side offended by the solutions.

      • Vigilant

Eddie, there’s much truth in what you say, though I don’t agree with all of it.

“How about voting in a real populist who’s not afraid to take on the rich and poor alike. Someone who truly believes in personal responsibility from the wealthy and the poor. We always see the problems but don’t want our side offended by the solutions.”

Rather than a populist, I would like to see a true Constitutionalist, either Libertarian or Conservative, or a hybrid (like me). The flashy and arrogant Donald Trump is a flash in the pan who’s marketing a slick image of himself, but I’ve heard little from him about the Constitution.

      • karolyn

Eddie – I don’t know how it is in other states, but here in SC welfare recipients can only receive 24 checks in 10 years. Beyond a certain number of chidren (I don’t know the number), they can’t get an increase for new kids. Of course, they do get Food Stamps.

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Eddie47d says… ‘the rich can fleece them (the poor) and make millions without skipping a beat.’
How does that happen? How can the rich fleece the poor to get rich?

      • 45caliber

        karolyn:

The maximum number of children a person on welfare can get money for is 8. That is a federal requirement and states have copied it. You will seldom see a welfare family with more than eight children as a result. There are many ways to get around a maximum number of checks – and they know all of them. They can get around the maximum number of children too – they have the girls start having them as soon as they get old enough. Then the girls continue to live with mom and draw their own check as mom has another to take the girl’s place. Then mom gets all the money until the girl can get a boyfriend or enough sense to move out.

      • 45caliber

        Eddie:

The government WANTS those on welfare to have large families. I know of a woman locally who is on welfare – she tried to get her tubes tied to prevent more children but the government REQUIRED her to have three kids first or they would cut off her checks. They will pay extra for up to eight kids – and those on welfare know it.

What I would prefer to see is the government require a 5-year insert that prevents pregnancy for any woman on welfare. She gets it the moment she goes on welfare. If she has a child while on welfare, she loses money (at least $20 per check since that is the normal cost for a drug dose) AND the child. No extra money. If she goes off Welfare, has a child, and then comes right back on, the same thing.

But some people call that genocide.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

For one Eddie, I have yet to see any rich man, go down into the “poortown” and take a dime from them. Rather, I see the so called rich paying higher and higher taxes to give these so called poor more free handouts. And also eddie, I have read and seen many, many reports, where reports went to the streets, and over 90 percent of the so called poor, are that way because they choose to spend all they have on drugs and alcohol and prostitutes, and willingly choose not to work, or if forced to go to a job, they lose it intentionally because they dont want to work, as society has taught them that they will take care of them. That is so flawed and wrong. Im not a genius, I dont know what to do with them, but I surely would not be handing them a couple hundred bucks a week and free food, and tell them to have a good time. Screw that. That is what we have done for years, and you and I both see, that method fails, and it costs all of us. I dont know what it is, but its high time to try something different.

      • DaveH

Take your eyes off other peoples’ money, Eddie. It’s not yours to decide.
Now, on the other hand, if you think certain capitalists are getting unfair protection from the Government, I’m with you. But we can solve that problem by shrinking Government dramatically and getting them out of the marketplace, so the consumers can decide who to buy from. And so people can start their own businesses easily like they can in Hong Kong.
The answer is not bigger Government. The answer is smaller Government, much smaller.

        eddie:

Who are the rich? At what level are you rich? How do you determine that level?

      • Eddie47d

Robin; The biggest scam is pay day loan outfits who can charge up to 700% of the original loan. Once the “poor” or even middle class get in they are stuck and can’t get out. They are forever in debt to the corporates who own these outfits. Our education system has failed to teach finances and checkbook matters even in middle class neighborhoods. I noticed that back in the early 60′s and it doesn’t seem like things have improved. I was scammed back in the early 70′s in a business deal(along with 130 others) so I know there are “legitimate” businesses who prey upon others. I read about the same thing happening to others almost everyday.I paid my debt off to the bank but the culprits got away. It’s unfortunate that these things still happen.

      • Eddie47d

Old Henry; A person who make $75,000 can be rich if he applies his money right. A person making $200,000 can be struggling if he has to pour most of his money back into his company. That of coarse isn’t what I was talking about. Most who make over $200,000 are fairly well off and can be very wealthy. Then there are the filthy rich whether corporates, entertainers, sports figures, etc. Some earned their money and some are overpaid folks who just showed up. Seems like the latter is in the news more often and rode in on someone elses coat tail.

      • Patty

Eddie-If planned parenthood was doing such of a good job, why has it multilied and divided generation upon generation. The amount of money that PP gets from the gov’t. is nothing compared to what Gates, Soros and the ilk give. Billions, hundreds of billions. They can stand on their own. They don’t need gov’t. money to survive and give services. If they were accomplishing their goal, they would not be doing more and more abortions each year. They are not a gov’t. program or entity. They are a 501c charity. Also, I have mentioned it before. Name one program that our gov’t. has implemented, attained it’s goal on time and on budget. They should all be up for scrutiny and defunding.

Lead by example – and they will not. They simply drum beat class warfare so the middle class can be raped and then write the tax laws in their, and their wealthy buddies, favor

        It’s all a scam eddie.

And eddie, I might add, that liberals like you are always crying “separation of church and state”. Well, lets let us conservatives cry it then also, and stop using federal money to fund abortions. Stop the federal handouts to planned parenthood. That is what they fund, murdering babies in the mothers womb. Its murder anyway you look at it, and you and all the doctors that do this, will get their chance to bow before God and tell Him all about it, and good look trying to bamboozle Him into believing murder isnt murder. Yeah, good luck with that.

Do not let the Government off the hook on the Federal Reserve. Here is what Murray Rothbard says:
“Some writers make a great to-do over the legal fiction that the Federal Reserve System is “owned” by its member banks. In practice, this simply means that these banks are taxed to help pay for the support of the Federal Reserve. If the private banks really “own” the Fed, then how can its officials be appointed by the government, and the “owners” compelled to “own” the Federal Reserve Board by force of government statute? The Federal Reserve Banks should simply
      be regarded as governmental agencies.”

To put it in a nutshell:
With inflation the borrowers win, and the lenders lose.
With deflation the borrowers lose, and the lenders win.

I know so many people Dave, that are saddled with credit card debt that is eating them up, and its crazy. I dont understand it. Because, most of them are making far more cash than I, but you mentioned a key statement, living above their means. That seems to be evident in the cases I see. Myself, I use what is called a check card. I cash my check, and put a certain amount in checking. I go to the store, I use my check card, and it automatically takes it out of my checking. All I need to remember to do is enter the transaction into my check book when I get home. I get no bill, I pay no interest. Ive put the money away ahead of time. Ive been debt free for over 20 years, except for my house payment of course, and soon that will be done. And I am not rich by any means, as I make less than a lot of guys I know, Im in the 50 grand range, and Im comfortable. But whereas I live within my means, in a 115 grand house, where many of those I know have to have a 250 grand house. I drive a 2007 Honda CRV, they of course have to have both a brand new LEXUS SUV and a BMW, and they are wracked with debt, because they live above their means. And so many young kids now, have to have the instant gratification, where they have to have everything right now. No working towards it and being disciplined and saving to get something, they just whip out the plastic and charge it, and pay 23 percent interest forever. Its plain crazy, and irresponsible. Then there is the baloney bankruptcy thing that pisses me off. My daughters boyfriend has gotten himself 7 grand in debt, and is going to file bankruptcy, and his lawyer has advised him to max out all his credit cards and get himself a big screen TV and things like that before he files, then he will have them. I heard that and couldnt believe it, but found out its true. And it is this instant gratification of buying things he couldnt afford that got him into this problem. Its unreal, and I really dont know the solution to it, since society refuses to hold people responsible for their actions anymore. Just like the liberal think tank, its always someone else’s fault. Unbelieveable.

      • smitty

yup tell the bf to go ahead and file bankruptcy…a couple i know DID, the judge chose to make an example of them and their wages were garnished leaving them $30 a week.

She died shortly after, heart attack, the effects of the stress. Tell him to buckle down get a 2nd job or 3rd job and work to pay off that 7 grand. That’s far less than most people owe.

Many times credit card debt isn’t the result of irresponsibility..sometimes its necessary to keep the car running, to get the kid’s a dental check up, to pay for uninsured medical.

We live frugally, with a lot of deferred maintenance on our home worth 155,000 before the bubble 1500 sf… been here 20 years still owe..haven’t had a family vacation since 1990, or a new car since 1989. We will never own a new car ever again. We buy used, pay them off. cancel insurance. Shop thrift stores and yard sales. Other than a tv and computer and applieance we have not bought furniture for 20 years. And we are looking to downsize soon to the country and will start raising food, maybe bee keep.

      • http://WeThePeople Jean

Frugal is NOT in a lot of peoples vocabulary – they can not even invision it – that would be conservative. I worked under a VP from California and he use to make fun of my old car. I told him that it was paid for and that I needed other things more than a shinny new car. He told me that I was nothing because of this and would not get anywhere unless I had sharp wheels to drive around in (it did not matter where I lived). He had a green card.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Yep Jean. Frugal is a four letter word – especially in today’s education system…. HA!

I used to tell my wife I was frugal. She had more descriptive ways of putting it. She eventually came around, however.

      • Isaac Davis

Idiots breed and then their spawn grow up to repeat the process. Anyone that puts their image as who they are is flat out stupid. Image won’t pay off debt anymore than standing outside a country club will make someone a good golfer. Such stupidity is abundant in this country, but the music will stop, and there will not be anywhere for these idiots to sit. I imagine quite a few will decide that YOUR stuff/property/preparedness is where they will choose to sit, and having some “leverage” to dislodge them might be prudent now.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

I love that story Smitty! I would buy that judge dinner!

Yep, new vehicles are a rip-off with the INSTANT depreciation. The last car (mini van) I bought my wife was a “program vehicle” with just under 24K. I got it for just under HALF what it cost new 24 months earlier.

Most doctors, hospitals, dentists will allow you to set up a payment schedule for their bills. I do it all the time. That way you can maintain your monthly budget and they know they will get paid in a timely fashion. Those folks are well aware of financial pressures we all face.

I have also worked with my local dealership to make 2 or 3 monthly payments on a large repair bill. That is an advantage of being a loyal very long-term cusomer.

All that has aided me in staying within budget ALOMST all the time.

Bee keeping. Hmmmm. I began thinking about that several weeks ago. Honey is an almost perfect food.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Are you kidding me? A second or third job? The kid wont even get a first job. First he did 4 years in the Navy and didnt bother to learn a trade, and wasnt recommended for re-enlistment. He tells my daughter its because the military has too many people. Right. Then Obama expands unemployment, so he decides to sit on his duff and collect it for a year and a half. I mean, him and her say “why work when they give it to you free”. Now, he is starting a GI bill package, that will give him 1000.00 a month to go to school, and he is taking sports management, thinking when he gets done, he will be the trainer for the Chicago Bears. Nice pipe dream. Those jobs go to the top tenth of 1 percent, and those guys are really motivated. Now when your willing to sponge off my daughter for a year and a half, and live on unemployment, Im really not seeing a lot of motivation there. So second and third job? I would be thrilled to see a first job, but that wont happen for awhile. And if he does manage to get a degree, its not going to be worth a tinkers dam.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        Berberoni:

I too have always tried to avoid debt like the plague. That was the way I was brought up, and that is the way I raised my two kids. They are both fairly responsible money-wise. One more so, but both pretty good.

I have over the years borrowed to buy vehicles, but worked to pay it off quick. When possible I paid cash. My wife has a 2002 van and I have a 24 year old F150 I bought used in 91, but it sits in the garage 99% of the time.

I use a credit card as I dislike writting checks. However, I keep a spreadsheet and use the card exactly like a checkbook. I know exactly what’s coming in each month and budget accordingly. It is paid off every month.

If I were you I would sit that kid down and “splain” things to him. Obviously his parents did not / will not. He can “get the message” round about that his behavior is not going to fly in your daughter’s life….

I would then have a private heart-to-heart with your daughter about associating with this kid if he does not / will not “see the light”. He will drag her into the hole with him – eventually.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I kindly and most heart felt had a talk with them both about this, which led to her not talking to me for over a year. Part of that is my fault, as I was divorced from her mother when she was younger, and her mother basically taught her that anyone that disagrees with you is a pile of crap and you throw them out of your life. The boy, well his mother divorced his dad when he was young, and married an ultra rich guy and lives in California. We are in Indiana. She never worked, and the whole family just sucks money out of people whenever they can. His mom’s sister who is here in town, gets good jobs, works long enough to draw unemployment, maybe for a year, then takes a year off and lives on handouts, and that is basically the way this kid was raised, that the world owes you a living. Myself, I came from a family of 6 and didnt know I was poor until I grew up and looked back. I was taught to work hard, and carry my weight, and to help others. I explained to this boy that I would rather flip burgers for two shifts a day than to sponge off of society and be a part of the problem that burdens this country. But you could see he didnt understand that a bit, because its not in him. As a father, you want more for your daughter, and I know its her life, but its tough watching when you know that sooner or later her heart is going to get ripped apart. I know we have to all make our mistakes, but it sucks when youve seen the movie 1000 times and you know how its going to end. Thats all Im saying.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Well Beberoni,I guess all you can do is try and keep the lines of communicaton open with your daughter and let her know you are there – to a certain extent. Kids of divorce as a rule have a tough row to hoe.

And now kids don’t even get married. They just float from one to the next.

Best of luck to you. It’s gotta be tough, real tough.

I just had a flash. Maybe you shoud get a tee shirt made that has that John Wayne quote: Pilgrim, life is tough. It’s even tougher when you’re stupid.

Wear it whenever the slug comes around.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I like it Old Henry. You got that right. You can fix broke, but you cant fix stupid.

      • herman richardson

Beberoni: If an attorney told a client to MAX out their credit cards before bankruptcy, sure do need to disclose to the State Bar, even if it is only one dishonest lawyer, one is too many, just like one dishonest politician is too many. I have been reading you super smart folks, and have truly enjoyed it. My question is this “what can be done to change the insanity” something that can truly be done. Voting is a pure joke, what???

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Im not understand your last couple of sentences about voting being a pure joke. That isnt something Ive said, and I myself dont think it is. I think sending those over 60 democrats to the curb in 2010 was a good thing for this country. And in 2012, some more, from both sides are going, and it will continue until they learn to serve us the people, or they will keep getting voted out.

      • Patty

Herman – I don’t know how old you are or how many times you have voted. The best thing you can do is get involved, know your candidates and vote accordingly. I think you were implying that the voting is rigged. To a certain point, certain circumstances, certain areas of our country you are correct in that assumption. But, right now, it is our only non-violent option. Make sure you take other educated people (on the candidates) to the polling place with you. I took 2 people with me that had never voted before in Nov.

      • sylviam

Patty—your right, and NEWS FLASH–anyone seen the news that in MAss. The DEMS. VOTED AGAINST the UNIONS on COLLECTIVE bargining, The UNIONS had a fit on them and told them, “WE VOTED YOU IN, ALSO WE CONTRIBUTED HEAVILY TO YOUR CAMPAIGN, then whimppered we won’t do that again. Guess the DEMS. GOT SOMEONES message.

        Berberoni,
I have two credit cards that I have used for over thirty years. I have never carried a balance, and I have never paid a cent in interest! I pay off both cards monthly and have no credit card debt at all!!!

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        JoeH:

Using OPM is good. I do the same thing as you.

Checks cost money and are a nuisance. You can pay the credit card bill on line – no check, no stamp, no evelope.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I used to do the same Joe before the credit union I am in came out with the check card. I always paid it off, and didnt use it if I couldnt pay it at the end of the month. However, I believe a lot of that had to do with the way I was raised, knowing the value of a dollar, and actually being responsible. Those things are lost a lot with todays youth, not all of them, but many of them.

  • DaveH

Tired of the whip-sawing? End the Federal Reserve.
The excuse for their creation was to end market collapses. Yet, we’ve had the worst collapses in the country’s 230 year history since their creation in 1913. And with their almost constant inflation, the mom and pop cash account savers have been taken to the cleaners.
Obviously, the Federal Reserve has failed miserably in their mission.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I full concer, but it ain’t gonna happen. The fix is in.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

It does seem a tall task, but it can be done, but it wont by our current leaders, as they are almost all enslaved by the almighty dollar, and can be bought and sold at any moment, by the highest bidder. And thats a damn dirty shame. But it seems to me, back in the instructions we were given, we were told by the God that created us, to place Godly men in our positions of authority. As we have failed to do that, they in turn, have failed us. There is a way to man that seems right, and it is the way of death in the end. Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25.

      • steve

        aye,keptin. abolish the fed and-

        Vote Ron Paul.

      • Buddy

It seems a bit unrealistic to think that democracy (voting) can solve the problems of democracy (the entitlement mindset of voters)

      • DaveH

It’s not unrealistic at all. Now, with Fox Business Network on our side (John Stossel, Judge Napolitano, and others), and with the Internet we have a better chance than ever before of waking people up.
Even the people on the dole could realize that their lives would be better without being under the thumb of Big Government.
One thing’s for sure — there is no possibility of getting our country back to Freedom if we don’t try.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Your right there Dave. If we dont try, we are given up to defeat. I wont give up the ship as long as Im breathing, and I know there are millions of others that feel this way also.

      • WayneT

Buddy, as long as we have fools voting (people who are not educating themselves) things will never change. People are voting for politicians that they do not have any idea what that persons ideology is. We need to study the people we vote for, and then watch and see if they do what they promise they are going to do.

      • Patty

Also, those that are able should quit paying credit card debt and taxes.

The credit card debt is almost always uncollectable.

If enough quit paying taxes, I promise there will be the CHANGE the Kenyan promised.

These things will hasten the day that the one-worlders move against us. They haven’t yet openly moved against us physically, but it’s coming. Best to have it occur before they’re totally prepared.

Here, here!! I totally agree with you. I know how to create 100,000,000 jobs next weekend! Every town get the schoolbuses that arent in use and a few voluteers. Go house to house looking for birth certificates and i.d’s. Round them all up and put them to work building a border fence (from there side). I quit paying my taxes the year I broke my leg. I was unable to work for a few weeks so I went to the local social security office. They told me they could not help me as I had no dependent children living with me. WHAT??? I have been paying in for 20+ years and you cant help me get something to fu***** eat???? I figured if I will never get any of it back and since my taxes go towards giving foodstamps to ILLEGALS that they do not need my money anymore. Revolutions have been started for taxation without representation…remember?

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

YES! and enact the Fair Tax!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

No, No Robin. The Fair Tax act is anything but fair Robin. Look into it, it is a terrible, terrible thing, and is not fair. A flat tax would be, but this fair tax thing is just plain horrible.

      • Carlucci

I agree. There is no such thing as a “fair tax”, especially when you let the government implement it. I’m not a fan of taxes at all, but if I have to pay them, they should be only to support my county and state, not the federal government. Screw those people.

      • sylviam

With the bunch in there now, including the bunch that started this mess way back in the earlt 1900′s, there is not a thing FAIR about anything they do.
Everything is an illusion of freedom, liberty, and the word DMOCROCY makes me sick Because it means WE do as the MAJORITY votes not what the CONSTITUTION says—–ANARACY!!!!—hope the spelling is right. But just in case a few of our Gov. Guys get to gether and if 3 votes for a thing then 2 votes for the right thing,—–well we lose because the majority said so. Like I said there is NOT A THING fair about the FAIR TAX THING
I’m not the brightest bulb in the box but NOT the dimmest either== 2+2 is not 4 anymore its 1000, because thats the number some politition said was fair. WE ARE IN DEEP $–t dear patriots but together we are the MAJORITY===I HOPE.

They want to go to this thing called SDR’s, that are like 41% American dollar, with a mix of other countries currency. Question is, if they go to SDR’s, will they still take SDR’s from those with them, and give them to those who dont want to work? Just curious.

      • JC

        There’s an ironic question! :)
I don’t think the “Robbing Peter to Pay Paul” through extortion, philosophy is going anywhere soon.

      • DaveH

It doesn’t matter, Beberoni, if they are still fiat dollars unbacked by hard assets, the issuing agency will still be able to rob us blind by creating excess money and making our savings worth less until they are worthless.

I don’t think the Fed has failed miserably. They have accomplished exactly what they were crated to do which had nothing to do with the stated claim.

      • http://fernhart.com Marianne Ernhart

RON PAUL HAS NOT –NOT– BEEN “STRNGELY QUIET” ABOUT THE FED! hE HAS BEEN IGNORED BY THE MSM AND EVEN FOX NEWS HAS GIVEN HIM “SHORT SHRIFT”. WHY?? BECAUSE THEY ARE LISTENING TO THE ELITE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! THEY ARE SOOO ENAMORED OF KARL ROVE THAT IT MAKES ME ILL! HE RAN LIBERTARIAN A FEW YEARS AGO AND REALISED THAT HE WAS IGNORED BY THE MEDIA AND COULDLN’T GET HIS MESSAGE OUT SO HE RAN REPUBLICAN. NOW HE CAN GET IN THE DEBATES AND, AT LEAST, MAKE THE ELECTORATE AWARE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WE HAVE –THE MONEY MASTERS!

ALSO, WHEN A LAWYER TAKES HIS OATH TO THE BAR, HE DISQUALIFIES HIMSELF TO HOLD PUBLIC OFFICE! THIS IS WHAT THE LIBERTARIANS BELIEVE.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Thanks for the heads-up Marianne. When I watch the TV news it is only FOX as I cannot afford to keep replacing my TV. I am disappointed that they have also sold us out and I may quit watching them as well.

I was truly worried that Cong Paul had, ah, been “silenced”.

      • DaveH

You may be watching the wrong Fox programs, Marianne. Ron appears often on Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch (Fox News Network).

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Uh, excuse me? The main stream media is listening to the Republicans? Are you out of your mind? The main stream media is nothing but a propaganda networkd of the left wing liberal democrats, whose only seemingly purpose to to hide the ills of these same said left wing liberal democrats, and perpetuate lies against these same said Republicans. Like putting guys like Al Gore, Michael Moore, Jon Stewart and others on, and letting them spew their goo about “war for oil” and lies like that. I really do want to know where this oil is that Bush all by himself decided to go into war over, that all those democrats voted for. Yet, huh, there is no oil. And now that a democrat is fight this “war for oil”, and has illegally entered into another war without a congressional go ahead, gee, now where is the national media? I assure you lady, it is not listening to the Republicans. Their sole reason for living is to destroy the Republicans. Are you kidding me? What kind of kool-aide are you drinking? Wow.

I do fully believe this problem, and others, will not be dealt with, until all us common joe’s on the street get fed up, and take on the problem ourselves. Our fearless leaders wont do nothing, as they are part of the problem. They are lawyers, and they go with the status quo, business as usual approach. As long as they are making money, they dont care. They just dont care. But I believe there will come a day, when we the people, will have had enough, and things will start happening. Its probably a ways off yet, but its coming, and they cannot quench the thirst of freedom we Americans have. Its in our blood.

    • EddieW

Congress abrigated the right to print money, and turned it over to the bankers (Fed) Now Congress has no control over the Fed as Bernanke told them when they asked how much money he had given to his banker friends… ( a trillion or two) I believe it was President Wilson that signed it over to the Fed…and regretted it, saying, “I have just unwittingly destroyed my country!” Can Congress take back the right to print money? NO.. The Bankers intend a certian control of the world, and will never give it back!
