Romney makes it official: He's exploring Presidential bidFormer Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has officially announced his intentions to explore a Presidential bid.

Romney revealed his decision to form an exploratory committee for the 2012 GOP nomination on April 11, releasing a YouTube video and a Twitter post. In his two-and-a-half minute video titled "Believe in America," Romney said that President Barack Obama's policies have failed because "he and virtually all the people around him have never worked in the real economy."

Romney, who lost the Republican nomination to John McCain in 2008, is believed to be a front-runner to challenge Obama in 2012.

"It's time that we put America back on a course of greatness, with a growing economy, good jobs and fiscal discipline in Washington," he added.

According to The New York Times, Romney's biggest obstacle on the campaign trail will likely be the healthcare law that he championed as Massachusetts governor. April 12 marked the five-year anniversary of Romney signing the law, which requires most Bay State residents to purchase health insurance or face fines, which is similar to the individual mandate in Obamacare.

A recent Suffolk University/7News poll revealed that about 49 percent of Massachusetts residents said that Romney's healthcare law is not working, compared to only 38 percent who said that it was working.

Rumored Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, has called on Romney to apologize for his healthcare law, the news provider reported.

    Please do the American public a great favor, Mitt Romney…stay out of national politics. You already boiled your constituents in oil with your socialized medical coverage, what on earth makes you sure we want your services in the rest of the US? Your own constitutents don’t like it…and you call yourself a republican??? Far as I’m concerned, you are a rino and nothing more.

    Romney needs to give us his vision for America – how will he handle the following 5 problems -
    # 1 -Stop NAFTA -restore our American Sovereignty
    # 2 -Have all 599 cities disconnect from ICLEI(Agenda 21)- Pres Bush signed in 1992. -the agenda-to end private property rights
    #3 – stop the 237 Foreign Free Trade Zones in America which only serve to give China an unfair advantage over local companies.
    #4 – transform our education system. The Progressives had their way for the last 70 years. THEY FAILED. Now let’s give the agenda to people who actually love America, its constitutional Republic and its exceptionalism.

    it looks like the republicans are trying to re-elect barry soetoro. running such people as huckabee and romney, those two empty suits couldn’t get nominated for a dog catcher. these are the kind of people karl rove and the rinos would like to see on their ticket, these are the kind of people that will lose. as a life long republican, until 2006, i absolutely wouldn’t vote for either one of those clowns. at this stage of the game i will vote for a conservative only.

    From what I’ve seen, Romney is about half way between a RINO and a Democrat. He certainly acted that way in MA. He put in free healthcare and even he now admits that it was a mistake and is bankrupting the state.

    if he believes in the tea party platform, why is he just now saying so? all those who were in office and voting for all the crap that’s passed need not apply for the job of potus. i used to watch survivor on tv, but i stopped when they began bringing back the people who already had a chance to win. bring in fresh meat for us to get to know. fresh meat that hasn’t already been spoiled and trained to vote as a rino.

        i really like rand, but i’m afraid he’ll be associated with his dad whom the msm ignored in 2008 even though he got more votes than any of the others who were covered by the msm. hard to win when everybody else is getting free publicity and financial support from the mega rich. all i need to know about romney i learned 3 years ago. the fact that obama care is patterned after his health bill is enough to turn off any real consitutionalist.

        Rand Paul is too new to the Senate. He doesn’t have any more experience than Oblama had – and look where that got us. Of course, most of that is due to him, not his experience. But a lot of Dems will be sure to point it out about Rand Paul and many many voters will shy away as a result. Save him for a later election when he has more experience and more chance to get the win.

    Thankfully we still have over 18 months to go until the 11/2012 election. Mitt Romney is definitely one who should be defeated in the primaries!! Why would anyone on our side vote for the Romney in a primary?? What do Romney and Dirty Harry Reid have in common? Answer: take the middle ‘m’ out of ‘Mormons’, and that’s what they both are!! Let’s not forget that Romney’s fingerprints are on a (Massachusetts) health care bill similar to Obummer-care!! At the same time, virtually all republicans in DC have opposed Obummer-care. There is time!! Let’s find good solid conservatives for 2012. From what I’ve heard about Romney, he almost gives credibility to the many naïve voters who suggest there’s no difference between the 2 parties. IMHO, even if he’s a better campaigner, Romney could be an even worse POTUS than John McCain would’ve been. (At least McCain opposed government run health care, didn’t he??) Nevertheless, let’s remember that the most important thing to do in 11/2012 is to defeat BHO. Even if worse comes to worst, and we have to choose between BHO and Romney, I reluctantly say we should hold our noses and cast a vote against Mao-bama. I guess that in a worst case scenario, Romney can’t be any worse than the One Big Awful Mistake America made by voters on 11/4/2008. Many people don’t agree with my theory that we should vote for the lesser of 2 evils. So let’s put it a different way: voting for today’s leftwing socialist democrap party won’t solve our problems, but only make bad situations worse. The 2006 and 2008 elections have proven this!! Of course ….. LET’S NOMINATE SOMEONE BETTER THAN ROMNEY NEXT YEAR!!!!

      18 months until the general election. texas primary is in 11 months, and many states start even earlier. we need to pick somebody and everybody get behind him/her. we sure don’t need to be scattered. divide and conquer.

    Great, another Northeastern liberal RINO! The Republican leadership has forgotten 2008 when many conservatives stayed home rather than hold their collective noses and vote for McCain. Perhaps they arrogantly think conservative voters have no alternative. They seem to be working diligently to turn their party into a minority third party. If they lose Tea Party voters they’re toast.

      I doubt if they would care if they are toast if they can’t control the Presidency. They have since before FDR except for Reagon. In fact, they control many of the Dem Presidents as well. If we turn against them, most will simply change parties, I’m sure.

    Romney is the most normal of the Republican possibilities but he has some shortcomings for the radical right:

    1. He is not a screaming extremist.

    2. He is a Mormon. This is unacceptable in bible-belt land.

    3. He invented Obamacare when the Governor of Mass.

    4. In his attempts to appease the right he has become a master flip-flopper.

    5. He is capable of logical thought.

    He’s another career politician and RINO. He may have some good ideas, but I know for a fact that a New Englander won’t carry Indiana in next years election. Romney care was supposedly the blue print for Obama bin Laden care and if we don’t want Obama bin Laden care, we sure don’t want his healthcare mess comming to Indiana. We hope that Mitch Daniels runs for POTUS or maybe we can get Governor Chris Christie to run for POTUS. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

    ‘Romney-care’ will be an obstacle that he will have to address head-on. From what I have read, it isn’t working. I want a candidate that I can feel good about supporting. I am really tired of having to vote for someone that I don’t like or doesn’t meet my expectations. I realize that there is always going to be something that is not in line with my thinking, but I don’t want to be forced into voting for the lesser of two evils. Been there, done that.

    I hope this time Republicans agree that there is no better choise. Romney is a great American, I would vote for him without thinking too much.

      While Governor in Massachusetts, Romney sponsored and signed legislating MANDATING that everyone purchase health insurance. When a person is mandated to purchase something, he needs to have the money to do it, and needs to earn that money. Thus he is mandated to work, taking up his time. Thus he is enslaved. It sure sounds like communism to me.

      Forget the Presidency. Make sure that we elect people to the House and Senate who truly favor lower taxes, less government, and more individual freedom. There was a good start in 2010. Now we need to do even better in 2012. Otherwise all liberty will be lost. A communist like Romney, Gingrich, Trump, etc. is not the answer.
