Barack Obama’s Budget-Busting Whoppers

February 25, 2011 by

Barack Obama’s Budget-Busting Whoppers

A friend of mine asked a question last month that stopped me cold in my tracks. I’ve been thinking about it and the implications of the choices he posed ever since. I thought I’d share it with you today.

Imagine that you’re sitting in your doctor’s office, waiting for him to return with the results of the extensive exam you’ve just completed. You’re glad it’s over, because they poked and prodded every body part they could reach — and took numerous images of those they couldn’t.

When the doctor enters the room, you can tell by his expression that the news won’t be good. And it isn’t.

“Cancer has spread so far throughout your body that there is nothing medical science can do,” he tells you. “I’m afraid you have less than six months to live. You’d better get your affairs in order.”

You’re stunned. For a moment you can’t think of anything to say. Finally, you blurt out, “But doctor, isn’t there anything — I mean anything, no matter how experimental — we can try?”

The doctor pauses for a moment and then says, “Well, yes, there is one thing we could do. I hesitate mentioning it, because the consequences can be pretty awful. But it will save your life.”

“What is it? What is it?” you shout. By now you’re desperate.

“Not many people know about this,” he says, “but there is a revolutionary new procedure that will actually transfer the cancer out of you. You’ll be 100 percent cured. Unfortunately, the cancer will instead attack your 8-year-old grandson. I’m sorry to tell you but he’ll be dead in two months.”

Here was my friend’s question: Given that choice, what would you do?

And then he asked a second one: But isn’t that exactly what we’re doing with our national debt? Instead of you paying it, haven’t you agreed to have it transferred to your children and your children’s children?

Under the arrangements your government has made, haven’t you saddled your offspring with debts that they will never be able to pay, even if they live a dozen lifetimes?

Thank you, Addison, for such a simple and stark way of describing the choices in front of us. As I said, I’ve been thinking about the gripping way you presented this ever since you sent it to me. It’s sure a lot more powerful than the analogy I used three weeks ago in my article about raising the debt ceiling.

The dilemma my friend presented is especially appropriate now, since just a few days ago President Barack Obama sent Congress his budget for the next fiscal year. Despite all the baloney you’ve heard in the media about how the White House has slashed Federal spending, don’t believe a word of it. That is — how can I be polite about it? — a bunch of balderdash. Here are the facts.

Our President has proposed total spending for the coming year of $3.73 trillion. Of that astronomical sum, he says taxes will raise a little over half; your government will borrow the other $1.6 trillion. If Obama gets his way — or anything even close to it — it will mean that our 44th President will have saddled this country with more debt than all 43 presidents who preceded him.

I’ve heard a lot of rumors about Obama’s “secret objectives.” Most of them I dismiss as utter bunk. But if one of them is bankrupting the country that has been so good to him, he has a chance to be the first President in our history to do it.

Let me state the facts another way: The President of the United States is asking his country to let him spend more than $300 billion a month. And to borrow $120 billion of that amount so he can dole it out to his favorite causes and constituencies.

What about the $10 trillion in debt he will have racked up by the time he leaves office? He’ll pass that on to your children’s children… and if necessary, their children, too.

And yet the lead story on CNN.com about Obama’s budget was headlined “Painful cuts in budget.” Somebody’s got a lot of gall here.

Oh, to be sure, there were some proposed reductions in Obama’s budget. And for some strange reason they were all designed to either sock it to the wealthy or to outrage the poor.

Programs to help the low-income people heat their homes in the winter? Gone. Funds to help local communities fix their failing water and sewage systems? Decimated. Deductions for the interest you pay on your mortgage? Wiped out. Deductions for gifts you give your favorite charities? Cut drastically.

I can just hear Obama telling his staff, “Those blasted voters want cuts? I’ll give them cuts. What else can we do that will make them mad as h**l?” But that’s probably unfair. I’m told that the man hardly ever curses, even when his wife tells him he’s not allowed to eat something or to put out that cigarette.

Looking ahead, Obama proposes total Federal spending of $46 trillion over the next decade, with tax collections paying for $39 trillion of it. Borrowing will account for the rest, with the debt ceiling having to be raised from its present limit of $14.3 trillion to a mind-numbing $26 trillion. Imagine what the interest alone will be on that obligation?

I’ve read several commentaries that question all of the rosy assumptions behind the President’s numbers. Coming anywhere close to Obama’s budget numbers would require no inflation, no recession, no new wars, much lower unemployment and much higher tax collections. Anyone (besides the White House) want to bet on that optimistic set of events? The President’s number-crunchers are counting on a much more robust economy than seems reasonable to many people.

I say, forget about who’s right. It doesn’t matter whether the gross domestic product grows by 2.5 percent or 4.4 percent. It doesn’t matter whether inflation stays around 2 percent or more than doubles from here (which I think is almost a certainty). Because the truth is, there is no way on God’s green earth that the House of Representatives will approve that much spending. Not a chance. It ain’t gonna happen. As the kids like to say, “Put a fork in it; it’s done.”

Oh, I’ll grant you, the House might approve a higher debt ceiling next month. Even some of the young Turks from the Tea Party might succumb to all the dastardly threats of what will happen if they don’t. Debt default! Economic collapse! Utter catastrophe!

I don’t believe a word of it. But more of them read The Washington Post and The New York Times than Straight Talk. So even the best and the brightest of them can be badly misinformed.

And something hardly anyone ever mentions: A Congressman is only as staunch as his staff. And unfortunately, there just aren’t enough smart, tough, battle-hardened conservatives looking for jobs on Capitol Hill. Many groups are trying to fill the gap — one of my all-time favorites is the Leadership Institute, which has done an almost miraculous job with its training programs. But there are a lot more compromisers than Constitutionalists on the payrolls of the new House members. Sad.

Mitch McConnell, the ranking Republican in the Senate, referred to the Obama budget as “an unserious document.” That’s a pretty mealy-mouthed way of saying it, sir. Readers of this column expect to hear it a lot straighter than that. So let me be as blunt as I can.

Obama’s proposed budget is a fraud. It’s a deceit. It’s a sham.

The President and his team know there is not a chance in a trillion this monstrosity will win Congressional approval. What they’re doing is playing a high-stakes game of chicken. “C’mon, Republicans, tell us what you propose. We dare ya. No, we double-dare ya.”

We’re about to find out, ladies and gentlemen, if the people who were elected this past November stick to their promises. I hope you’ll do your part to make sure your representative won’t knuckle under to the pressure, the lies and the media smears he or she is about to face. And if he needs a backbone, lend him yours.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

Lets start with this folks. Take all of our troops out of the middle east. Place them on support standby for Israel.Bring all deployed military troops home secure our borders. Place every missile launch site on constant alert.Have every deployable aircraft armed and on constant alert.Warn every legal citizan of the US. to return in 90 days. Immediately, make the announcement that for the history of the US. we have helped virtually every country out of some kind of major cotastrophy and asked for no help back or repayment. Therefore we owe you nothing. All debts are payed and cleared. Stop importing and exporting. We have decided to become self sufficient, we need nothing any other country. We have enough natural resources to take care of ourselves. If any forien country don’t like our decission then come and try and take a piece of us. You want to come here and visit or live. It’s by our rules. You bring none of your garbage here. I fwe want to come and visit youror live in your country we will do the same. results, deficit and budget balanced. More jobs than we have people. More money than we know what to do with. Fine tune this stratigy and problem solved.

    • Mark Hedgecock

Yep this came from a dumb country boy that can’t spell but has a mind to think. We all have been to spoiled to think we need imported goods to make our life easier. We have been spoiled to believe we have to have every new materialistic thing under the sun to be happy in all reality we are never satisfied. Come on people, if you like something the forieners have, then make it here for ourselves, it don’t have to have Paris stamped on it. Get my drift

      • bob wire

Wisdom has little to do with spelling Mark, so you are good.

It’s the laws that have permitted elite Americans to pillage and plunder developing nations. Big American business interest have became so use to large profit margin at the expense of nation full of people that live in mud huts, wear no shoes or have no concerns regarding clean air and water issues while this country’s leader and these Americans pocket huge profit from American consumers.

Today, ~ America’s ability to buy and consume is drying up and we want these jobs back. But for that to happen and afford business the margin of profit they have become accustom to would require American’s to go bare footed, live in grass huts, while OSHA and EPA would have to take a hike.

Until laws that permit this plundering of developing nation is brought under control, I see no change on the horizon.

Why are we continuing to talk and not take action? Why does congress need all their perks, big offices, staff, free this, free that like they are all Kings and Queens? Times in the past show that they don’t listen the people and with so many of congressional leaders they always shift the blame to others for the problems we are having. These very people create all these problems and then sell us the ignorant public that they are the only ones that can fix them. Its time for action and not talk. I know how to correct the problems but getting people to take action is almost impossible.

I suggest that each of the congressional offices as they currently exist be removed. I am speaking of the luxurious and gigantic office space that each one occupies, this and their over blown staff of Lawyers that feed them all this bad information. If we were to physically remove all these trappings just think of the money we can save. I would allow each congressman/woman and each senator an office with room for a sectary and one person to keep their schedules etc. and neither one of these people could be lawyers. In fact if a lawyer was found working for one of our elected (children Isaiah 3;verses 4 and 12) then both parties should be sent immediately to prison for defrauding and stealing from we the people. I would include in this number all federal judges that ruled against the people having taken this action.

This will never happen in my life time as these crooks are very well entrenched/established and accustomed to living like royalty to ever consider making any changes into the way that they conduct business. I await the return of Christ Jesus to this earth. He will straighten this mess out and I would not want his wrath to fall on as it will the children who now rule over us and the ungodly judges that uphold these abominable destructive laws against we the people. Even so come Lord Jesus and set a fire and cleanse our Nation.

    • WayneT

I agree with you Ken. It is because not enough people are paying any attention. They only pay attention when they are directly effected by the outcome. One of these days Dictator Obama’s plan will strkke them, and by that tkme it will be to damn late to change anything. We have a stupid populace out there is what is wrong. This is IMHO.

      • bob wire

I think that you have too much time on your hands and your mind is hungry.

Brad: Do you really believe just because it is the law and on the books that this administration won’t ignore it. Just like that dumb ass on the rules committee said on national TV, “What rules, we make them up as we go along”. I don’t think I need to tell you what his party affiliation is.

I know a lot of people won’t agree with me, but what I see is a deliberate attempt to make this country dependent on the Federal Government and to institute a European Socialist form of government.
When you look at the make-up of the President’s cabinet and his special advisers which is loaded with Socialists and the policies they are implementing without the oversight of Congress or the blessing of the Socialist Democrats in Congress, it is clear to me this is their agenda. The Health Care Bill, Cap and Trade, then the end around by the EPA; all which place a tremendous burden on the people.

Fla Jim: I am from Florida as well and your last comment is exactly what I am talking about. What people don’t realize though is anywhere
from 50 to 80 per cent of your income will be going to the Federal Government to pay for this and you only have to look at some countries in Europe where this is the case and you see the state of their economies now. Capitalism has it faults and has ups and downs but name any country that has a Socialist society and you will see it has ultimately failed.

To those waiting for the next election..Do you really think this tyrant in the WH will allow free and fair elections?
Guaranteed by the constitution you say!! Will we still have a constitution by 2012??????

  • Patriot

Obama is doing exactly what his handlers want him to do; create an economic crisis, debunk our monetary system by creating massive inflation/2nd depression to bring America down to the level of other countries. When you start to lose everything food becomes scarce or too expensive, etc. the people will sacrifice all their Liberties in the hope that they survive, when that happens the “New World Order” is established. My suggestions turn off your TV and read about history especially “The Rockefeller File”, The Creature from Jekyll Island and watch the movie: Zeitgeist the Movie, find it on Youtube or other outlets. My hope is that is not too late!
When your view is world and not America first then you could care less about your country. Look around, can you see it? No border security, no energy independence, no foreign policy (what is our foreign policy?) never hear from Obama say a word about what a great country we live in. By the way, with the Middle East burning our country is going through one of the worst economic with unemployment problems, problems in many states such as; Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, California, NY, IL, etc., arrests of terrorists in TX, CO, and on and on. Does Obama seem the least bit worried or concerned about anything? His attitude is the opposite as though there is world peace and everyone is in Utopia, do you ever wonder why? He does not seen to care in the least, no passion about our nations dire situation, can we last 2 more years of this? We need help now, we need everyone to STOP these petty arguments and look at the BIG picture, it starts and ends with our Constitution and we need to demand the will of the people isheard and terminate all career politicians that do not stand on our basic principles and America first ideas!

    • Canadian Conservative

Patriot, you hit the nail on the head. It seems to me a lot of people just tow the party line. They believe the crap spewed over the idiot box, depending on which side of the fence they stand. Tear down the fences and protect your country and constitution. The founding fathers were against everything that these modern governments seem to strive for.

    • Macawma

Yeah, they even had a big party last night…the world is on fire, and Michelle and BO have a f@#$%&# party! I wonder if her new personal shopper found her the right party dress for the occasion…

    • Carlucci

Exactly. What is going on now has been in the works for years. It does not matter who is in the White House, because it is no longer a
Democrat or Republican issue. Whomever is installed in the White House is just a meat puppet going through the motions and putting on a dog and pony show for the public, while the real powers that be do all the damage to the populace.

Calling all economic/finance majors – !! What I want to know is why everyone believes this bull**** about the debt? Since the fiat currency is deemed worthless, how can you measure the “debt”, and then expect to use it as payment for the “debt”? What will happen if the fiat “dollar” is no longer used as an instrument of payment? If the powers that be declare another currency will replace the dollar, wouldn’t the “debt” based on the fiat “dollar” simply disappear?

      • Al Sieber

You hit the nail on the head Carlucci, it doesn’t who is in the White House, the agenda moves forward. the fiat money is crashing.

NEW FLASH – THIS STARTED WAY BEFORE OBAMA!!!!!!!

He is doing exactly the same thing that Reagan and GWB did before him. Spending money that the government does not have…..

      • Warrior

BBJ, it appears you have come around since your days of not enough taxation. Congrats my friend.

      • BigBadJohn

I have ALWAYS been a fiscal conservative. I voted for Newt’s republican revolution because I wanted a balanced budget amendment. I was PO’ed when that turned out to be nothing more than rhetoric for the weak minded.
I was a registered Libertarian through the years of Bush’s administration and was PO’ed at what I saw as total disregard for the fiscal stability of our great country.

Yes I was adamantly opposed to Bush’s tax cut – BECAUSE WE COULD NOT AFFORD IT!!!!

I have the same problem with Obama, but the only thing he could possibly do is overturn everything that Bush did….. Are you willing to go along with that????

      • http://?? Joe H.

        BBJ,
Yeah, but one hell of a lot faster!!!!

      • BigBadJohn

Joe, please check your numbers. Bush inherited a 100 billion dollar deficit and left office with 1.5 trillion dollar deficit. That’s what a 1500% increase?

Obama inherited a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit and has run it up to 1.8 trillion deficit. That’s what, a 20% increase?

Pretty hard to cut a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit that you inherited….

  • http://(n/a) Marv

The YEAR is 2012 : and that GREAT SUCKING SOUND you hear is the US Government IMPLODING ….. , from a Sea-of-Red-Ink !

Just imagine ; the Ancient MAYAN Peoples KNEW Obama was going to bring the entire Civilized World down, by destroying the Key-Stone of Economic Freedom – AMERICA !

When he finishes , America will be plunged back into the Middle-Ages ; where his Moslim Admirers are NOW ; and those Admirers will be fully engulfed into a New Stone Age ! Probably surviving as Canibals !

And Obama, he will go back to Hawaii ,and his Lost-Love : Keiki-Care !
Which was “DESTROYED” by his Arch Enemy : REPUBLICANS !

    GO FIGURE !

      “The Middle Ages?”

OMG, no more TV, computers, cell phones, cars, and most important, “comfort food!” To parody Shakespeare, “It’s a consummation devoutly NOT to be wished.”

How awful! People will find themselves actually engaging in protracted conversation with each other, perhaps re-learning how to read books, putting in a little hard labor every day, eating right and giving thanks for what they do have.

Just havin’ a little fun, folks.

      • Al Sieber

        I agree.

  • BigBadJohn

Agree we are in one hell of a mess.

Simple solution is to roll the whole budget and government back to the day when George Bush took office.

GWB inherited a 100 billion dollar deficit and left office with 1.5 trillion dollar deficit.
Seems simple enough – undo everything Bush did, including tax cuts that the country could not afford, his prescription drug plan, his two wars, and the TSA. Undo everything Obama has done to add to GWB’s 1.5 trillion deficit. Then we are still stuck with the interest payments on the debt, but you have to start somewhere.

    • JeffH

I would have no problem with that scenario.

      • Vigilant

        Agreed.

  • Polski

I am constantly amazed when I read these blogs. After 2 terms of Dubya, which ruined the country forever financially, the republicans are blaming Obama. If it wasn’t so tragic, it would be hilarious. Basically, Obama is terrible and Dubya was horrible. Both of them are crooks, just like every other politician, judge, corporate executive, sick industry doctors/FDA/FTC/BIG PHARMA. There really isn’t much any “normal” person can do. You know the old saying, “head for the hills, the shovel broke”…..LOL….SHEESH……..

    • JIBBS

So, what ever happens a 100 years from now, people will still blame Bush ? Just stop with the bs, they were/are all crooks.

    • John the Libertarian

Oh, I get it polski- you’re doing your Rip Van Winkle imitation AND YOU’RE JUST WAKING UP ( OR TRYING TO)…. obummer is taking the bush financial mistakes AND PUTTING THEM ON HYPERSTEROIDS… listen, dude if you can’t understand what TRILLION DOLLAR DEFICITS are, you have no business here, but need to go back to grade school— 1 trillion is a million millions (1 followed by 12 zeroes)… your boss has added 4 of them and soon will be in a position to add more than all of his 43 predecessors COMBINED… thank God [hopefully] we’ll have only 23 more months of his damage before he hopefully nah nah nah, heh heh GOODBYE as he leaves in the airforce 1 chopper…

  • FlaJim

Increasing the debt limite makes about as much sense as getting an increase on a credit card limit so you can get cash advances to make the minimum payments on the balance. Anyone trying to explain it as anything else is lying and they know it.

Most states have a balanced budget requirement in their constitutions and are thus forced to cut spending (well, IL and CA both want bailouts). This isn’t a difficult concept to grasp, yet the DC Dems are fixated on utopian schemes like high speed rail, for which there’s no demonstrable need nor demand, more bailouts, of course, and redistribution of income and capital.

Ask yourself how hard you’d work if your employer told you that by meeting all your goals, he’d redecorate your neighbor’s home and buy him a new car? That’s what the current regime is asking of us.

    • Vigilant

You don’t conduct you’re affairs like you have much concern for the unborn but seen to pick and choose when it suits you’re fancy.

If you showed as much concern for the born as the unborn you would be more believable and offer some merit to your argument.

    Politicians are people too…Read on.

    TWO TIM THREE
Read on now incline your thoughts to bible prophecy, and what it’s saying to us in second Timothy chapter three.
It claims that in these last days there shall be perilous times, which means that we shall live to see unprecedented crimes.
It is the baby boomers that St Paul’s referring to, the things they did at Woodstock prove his prophecy came true.
These children of the new age are licentious and perverse and because they have no ethics their offspring are much worse.
Unthankful and unholy and inclined to disobey; when someone tries to guide them they will turn the other way.
Traitors, fierce, blasphemers, who despise those that are good, we meet these kinds of children now, St Paul said that we would.
They’ll kill you for your sneakers shooting guns as they drive by; and the Whitehouse is an outhouse where politicians lie.
And Sodom and Gomorrah is back in style again where women sleep with women and men make love with men.
That’s what St. Paul’s has told us in his note to Timothy; we have lived to see it happen in the 21st century.

In my opinion your whole banking system is set up to rob the wealth from the people and your government is going along with it. I shouldn’t say your banking system I should say all the money changers in the world. All fiat currencies will eventually collapse. You will never pay the debt you already have. That leaves only 2 options. Default or devalue your dollar to the point of nothing. It appears your fed and government has chose the later. The American people will be robbed of all your wealth and only a very small percentile will have it all. You should be rioting in the streets over these huge financial bail outs. It doesn’t matter if it’s a republican or a democrat in the office now. Your fed is who is going to destroy your country. When America’s dollar is no longer the reserve currency you are in serious trouble. As far as OBama’s secret agenda, take a look at what the socialist parties did to England in the 70′s.

    • Vigilant

Absolutely correct, with one correction: The failure of ANY major currency in the world (Dollar, Yen, Euro, Swiss Franc, etc.) will immediately cause a global financial collapse on an unprecedented scale.

    • Lastmanstanding

CC. Hope lot’s of folks read your post. It is exactly what will happen. Most believe it will not…they will be sorry.

So many Americans have sold their soul to the easy way out. Most poor are poor because it is easier to take a handout for their vote than get up and kickass like alot of us do. I’ll be 50 next year and I do not/will not fail. The word is not in my vocabulary.

True Americans live by this same creed. I am thankful for others like me. My kids and grandkids are dependant on us.

      • bob wire

I tend to take exception to the term “True American” ~ that’s to suggest there might be un-true Americans.

Not to even consider the fact that the only true American is the native American Indian. ~ While many of us might wish to hold title to native American Indian blood, even I can trace family back to “Quanah Parker” (ca. 1845–February 23, 1911)who was an important Comanche chief, a leader in the Native American Church, and the last leader of the powerful Quahadi band before they surrendered their battle of the Great Plains and went to a reservation in Indian Territory. He was the son of Comanche chief Peta Nocona and Cynthia Ann Parker, a European American.

Today, I don’t consider myself a native American Indian or somehow being any more true American the anyone else.

        So why should you?

      • barbm

      • Vigilant

There are most certainly “un-true Americans.” Re:

“legislators” who subvert the democratic process by abdicating their elected obligation to legislate.

Left wing and right wing extremists, as well as homegrown Islamist terrorists who seek to overthrow the government of the United States through violent means.

People in positions of power who seek more wealth and power through emasculating the very principles upon which this nation was founded.

Criminals who work to defraud taxpayers through massive illegal schemes such as Medicare fraud.

Congressman and senators who play deceptive parliamentary games to stack the deck in their favor.

Presidents who not only fail to abide by their oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America,” but who also take every opportunity to sidestep, circumvent, or illegally “interpret” that document to their political advantage.

Unions that take dues from all members and then use that money to support a the candidates of a single party, or who advocate the death of the secret ballot in the workplace.

Thugs and felons who would, and have, intimidated voters at polling places.

Czars and regulatory agencies whose effectiveness is guaged by their abilities to violate the checks and balances of the Constitution.

Activist judges at all levels who rule based on personal political bias or appeal to international law and UN accords in substantiation their decisions.

        And the list goes on….

If you don’t know what it means to be an American, your vote is a vote of ignorance. We always have the right to disagree, our system depends upon it, but we use LEGAL and CONSTITUTIONAL means to change the laws in this country if they are not to our liking.

With few if any exceptions, it has always been the left that seeks to nefariously disregard the rule of law.

      • Cawmun Cents

I dispute your assertion Mr.wire, that there are such a thing as “Native Americans”…they didnt after all call this place America until the white man arrived. They are simply “Natives”,you can leave the American part out.An American is someone who lives in the United States proper,as defined by the rest of the world. There are many definitions of America including north and south, but an American is thought to be specifically from the region now known as the United States of America. So there cannot be a Native American,so to speak since we are all transplants from other continents.

    • WayneT

Canadian Consevative, we can’t seem to find many Americans these days that gives a damn. There are a few of us left, but I feel were in the minority. Look at some of the people who makes post on this forum. W know Nobama is a Communist/Socialist but people still support him. Are they wacky, or not?

    • barbm

and why weren’t you folks up north rioting when they were cramming your terrible national insurance down your throats? one of our actresses died last year because of your seriously lacking health care. we know what’s wrong and are trying to fix it. we do it by voting. rioting will get you only so far.

    • Pat

      Canadian Conservative,
I’m an American who WAS living in England in the 60′s and 70′s and was at the mercy of their health care. That is just one of the reasons why I spoke out against candidate Obama, but sadly people wanted change, and boy, did we ever get it. As an owner of a very small incorporated manufacturing company with less than 15 employees, we are now paying 40-45% in taxes. You may think we are raking in millions but that is not the case. Many companies the size of ours feel that we cannot continue afford to employ people, pay taxes, provide insurance and 401K’s etc. etc. with our President and his friends holding their hands out for more. You criticize our nation, yet a citizen of your country had to come to our country or die waiting for open heart surgery in Canada; same type of situation (health care, if that is what they want to call it) I faced in England. Whatever our problems are, and there are many, the United States of America is still the greatest nation under God’s Heaven and no one person(s) can destroy her until God decides. If you remember, God told satan that he could do anything to Job but take his life. Job faced tragedy after tragedy but God still protected him and God will protect the U.S.A. if each of us obey God and do His will, not ours.

      • Canadian Conservative

I’m not criticizing your nation. I’m criticizing the greedy who will destroy your nation and the rest of the world. Greed has no nationality. Your constitution is one of the greatest articles ever written and unfortunatly most americans know nothing about it. There are powers working in the dark to destroy your and my way of life and we sit and argue about what side of the political fence you stand on. Politics is a tool of the devil. By the way I’m sure there have been americans that have died waiting for surgery they couldn’t get or afford.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        CC,
See, that’s where you lose! Those that come here from canada supposedly can get it and can afford the surgery! you socialist try to put the US down by saying our people are dying from lack of treatment or not being able to afford it and we should change to your type of system. Well by what I just posted, your system is even WORSE!! It gives the people the illusion of hope just to snatch it away by long waits and substandard care!!!

      • Allan Halbert

Please include the entitled in your definition of the greedy.

    • Al Sieber

Canadian C, good post, the majority of Americans can’t understand or refuse to believe what is happening to them. with the escalating cost of fuel our economy won’t be able to sustain itself much longer, because with the rising cost of fuel comes the high cost of food etc.

  • Vigilant

As of this posting, I don’t see any libs weighing in. They must be late risers.

Then again, maybe they’re scrambling to Huffington Post, Move On, or Media Matters to get their talking points. T’will be interesting to see what eddie, Jovi’s Anus or Eric the Red have to say about the certainty of national failure due to profligate spending and debt creation.

If/when they do decide to post, be sure to check off when they try to use the following tactics: (1) denial that the country’s on a ruinous course, (2) appeal to emotion without the ability to cite any stats in their favor, (3) citation of false or skewed statistics from a left wing website, (4) pure insults without addressing the subject line (that’s the most popular), or (4) the classic Alinsky approach of attempting to change the subject and carry off the discussion into the weeds of irrelevance.

    • Vigilant

I stand corrected. Doc Sarvis got in there when I was composing my posting. Add number six to my list: bringing out the shopworn socialist screed aginst the rich. And, forgive me for forgetting number seven: blame everything on Bush.

      • bob wire

I’ve always wondered why you see a need to defend the wealthy. It’s like you seem to believe they might need your help. ~ What gives with that Vigilant? Could you explain this compulsion to defend the strongest and kick the ribs in of the weakest among us?

How is it possible that the strongest and most power require your heart and soul, or do you give it freely?

      • barbm

i defend the wealthy because everybody in america has the right to a free education through grade 12, and anybody with low income gets their college pretty much paid for. if you go to school, study hard, are innovative, and work hard, anybody can be well off financially. if you’d rather make your money on your back spreading your legs for every tom, dick, or harry (make that every tomas, ricardo, or jorge) that comes along so you can make more babies, you don’t go to school or make your kids go, you won’t work, and you won’t even learn to speak english, why should those who are willing to work have to provide for you and your family? i know that not everybody has the intelligence to go to college, and i’m not opposed to assisting those who aren’t that smart as long as they’ll work. i’m also not opposed to helping those with sick or disabled children or who are ill or disabled themselves and the elderly. but every able-bodied person needs to at least attempt to help themselves.

      • Angel

Let’s have a round of applause for our billionaire sponsors!!!

      • barbm

Kochy, what’s that supposed to mean? i live in a small 3 bedroom 2 bath home in a decent but older neighborhood, drive a saturn, and try to live on my social security check but have to find work now and then to make it sometimes. i make $12,720 annually. hope you aren’t accusing me of being a billionaire. couldn’t be further from the truth. i had all those same opportunites everybody else has, but i made some bad choices along the way, so i didn’t live up to my full potential. that’s my fault, so i must lie in that bed. but i’m still satisfied with where i am and find that i’m pretty happy most of the time.

How is it possible that the strongest and most power require your heart and soul, or do you give it freely?”

LOL! When are you going to ask the question, “are you still beating your wife?”

I’m surprised at you, bob. I’ve seen you rail at posters before for labeling and putting everything in a neat box of black and white, and then you turn around and do the very same thing!

“…why you see a need to defend the wealthy?”

“…this compulsion to defend the strongest and kick the ribs in of the weakest among us?”

Sorry for your sake, but it ain’t that way at all.

Not that I haven’t made it plain before, but I’ll tell you my personal perspective, as follows:

        (1) I have a firm and abiding belief in Capitalism. History proves that socialism/communism do not work, period. Capitalism as embodied by free individuals making uncoerced decisions in a free market would not have made this the greatest nation on earth in the absence of the principles laid out by the Founding Fathers and formalized in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution.

        (2) Concentration of wealth accrues to the entrepreneurs who have talent, take risks, and understand that they may be wildly successful or fail miserably. They know they are accountable for their decisions. Without entrepreneurs, there are no jobs.

        (3) You should never hear a Conservative laud the success of a capitalist who has become rich through unethical, deceptive or criminal practices. There is not, nor should there be, any sympathy for these leeches. They deserve stiff fines and jail time.

        (4) No civil society has a right to hang out the destitute to dry, if those persons have tried their level best, played by the rules, or through true disability or infirmity cannot provide for themselves or their families. THIS, not indolence or greed, entails societal remedies at the lowest possible level of governmental entity (county or state).

        (5) Government has no business, with very few exceptions, interfering with free market principles. It both discriminates and violates the equal protection of the law when it seeks to guarantee outcomes rather than ensure that equal opportunity is practiced. THAT is “fairness.”

        (6) Confiscatory taxation to feed the maw of an inefficient government loaded with greedy politicians, bureaucrats and other power brokers is a sin against all of us who pay those taxes. Printing of fiat money is destructive to lives and the innate fairness of the Capitalist system.

        (7) Wealth redistribution projects and programs touched by government invariably turn to merde. EVERY program ever conceived by government has cost multiples of original estimates, fostered fraud, waste and abuse, and has made people MORE dependent upon government rather than less.

To answer your charge, I don’t need to defend the wealthy, I simply tip my hat in appreciation to those who are at the helm of the engine of prosperity and pay 90+% of the taxes in this country, and without whom we would have gone down the drain a long time ago.

        Bob-

You don’t understand. We don’t get up each day to defend the wealthy or attack them. Saying conservatives are the lapdogs of the wealthy is just as dumb as saying we are racist because we oppose Obama. These standard messages from the left do not seem to be winning hearts, minds, or elections.

  • Doc Sarvis

Mr. Wood rights; “Oh, to be sure, there were some proposed reductions in Obama’s budget. And for some strange reason they were all designed to either sock it to the wealthy or to outrage the poor.”

Well the sock it to the poor will definetly happen as they have no voice (i.e. financial clout). Many programs that support the poor from health, housing, education, etc. will be cut or severely reduced. Whereas the rich will not suffer one bit since legislatures are beholden to them in a variety of ways. While we should tax those that benefit most from our system of government, our infrastructure, our policies, our workers; we coddle them as they acquire more and more of the finacial resources of our country. And while many of you claim they should have the money since they create the jobs that does not seem to be working AT All. They have had plenty of time to invest money in the U.S. to create jobs (all throughout the Bush years and into President Obama’s term as well) and we are still over 9% unemployment. President Obama wanted to raise the tax rate on the very wealthy (again, those who benefit most) but all of the Republicans and some Democrats struck that down. Many here complain about the phrase “income redistribution”. Well my friends, income has, for the last few decades, been redistributed up to the top 1 or 2% of our population and most of the rest of us have been loosing ground all that time.

For most of the last ten years we have been embroiled in two foreign wars (at least one of which was initiated from complete lies). All of that time those wars were financed through borrowing from other countries (primarily China I believe) The general public has not had to step up to support these efforts through taxation which let them think nothing of all the killing (and spending). Now it is coming back to haunt us.

    • Bruce D.

Obama is really in the process of destroying the poor, the middle class, and the whole country with his hyper inflationary policy. It is not going to be just the poor he tools over.

      • Stone

Bruce, I voted for Obama because i thought the change he wanted was going to be good. Well, i very disappointed in what is happing, One correction though, from what if heard and read the congress which is controlled by the GOP wants to balance the budget on the backs of the poor. Just look at their proposed cuts. I know we have to get our house in order but don’t do it on the backs of those that can lease afford it. Corporate welfare costs each and everyone of us more money than social welfare. Don’t know if i believe it but on ABC nightly news, they are stressing buy made in america products. They claim if everyone would spend $3.39 on american made products it would create 10,000 jobs.

      • barbm

hard to buy american made when hardly anything is made here any more and when the packages don’t say where items are made. hershey moved its plant to mexico (doesn’t taste quite right any more), but their package only says distributed from hershey, pa.. we sure need to put a high enough tax on foreign goods made for american companies to make it worth them bringing the jobs home. the problem i have with giving comapies tax breaks is that they don’t specify companies that operate in america with no overseas interests.

      • JIBBS

10,000 jobs, hmmm, sorry, but we need at least 10,000,000 and thats just to start. People on welfare can do the meaningless jobs that the illegals do, if they want a free check, and take a drug test before they get that check. And get rid of the 20,000,000 illegals here also. Did you know that aiding an illegal in Mexico carries a six year jail sentence ?!

They will follow Hussain into a burning hell with no questions asked. You can listen to these “deaders” on every lame stream media outlet. They are good little slaves who march in lock step right behind Hussain. He needs to be impeached now, if we wait until 201, it is doubtful that there will be a country left!

  • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And whats sad about this leper in the white house, is that pefect examples of how to save money and cut costs are there being played out right in front of him, and he is against it, and even spends money mobilizing people and lawyers to fight it. First was Arizona taking a stand against illegal immigration, because frankly, they just cant afford it anymore. It is the federal governments job, and they wont do anything about it, and it costs this nation billions of dollars. Instead, the Obama administration spends money sending people down there to protest, and to pay lawyers to fight it. Are you kidding me. That is just plain stupid and irresponsible. Then, Wisconsin has taken steps to balance their budget, and not only that, but to keep all the teachers working. But the unions want none of it, as they want to force more people to give them more money, so that they can buy more democrats who will pass laws that give them exemptions and they get their money back, from us tax payers, and we all get to fund their health care because they dont want to have to pay for anything, unlike the rest of us who pay our premiums. Obama has gathered people and bussed them up there, instead of learning how to balance a budget, he is spending money and interfering where he doesnt belong, and should be working on balancing his own budget, but he doesnt care. It seems he and Michelle figure its just an open check book, and they are going to fleece us all for all they can get before they are booted out. What a shame. At this point, Im wondering if they will try to steal the furniture like the Clintons did? I can see Michelle stealing old White House heirlooms, because she knows they are worth money. Think Im kidding, you watch and see. It might take awhile, but eventually it will all come out. I guarantee it.

    • Bruce D.

Good points on AZ and Wisconsin. It is not bad enough he is doing a poor job but is also trying to force others into failure.

    • JIBBS

For labamba, it’s fun and glorious to campaign and rally people, but it’s hard and no fun to govern, he’ll let his “friends” do that part of the job. I think he thought it would be fun and easy to be the first black man in the Whitehouse. How long was he in the senate ?, about as long as basic training is for our Military. Then he decided that, like Jethro (Beverly Hillbllies) he wanted to be a four star General. He may be “Higher Educated”, but I think he paid someone to do his homework and bought the answears to the final exams. I don’t really think you have to be a rocket scientist to be elected to any office, you just need to think about what is right or wrong, and what fits in the buget and what doe’sentalong whith what you can afford and what is a waste of money and time. If it sounds to good to be true, ………. Well, you get it ! Don’t you wish the Magnificent Seven, could help us out ? lol or maybe the Military would take notice and remove him and his cronnies for high crimes and treason ?

I read an article recently that said politics is just a matter of good copy writing, where the speaker constantly goes back to slogans like “Change we can believe in”, “A change is going to come”, “Change”……you get the idea. This is hammered into a viewer’s mind, like an infomercial that gets shown over and over. A good copy writer (speech writer) hits all the impulse points to get someone to “buy” something, either with money or belief in the speaker’s rhetoric.

B.O. didn’t need much “experience”. Although I can’t stand to listen to him, his public speaking ability is very good as he comes across as confident and relaxed. He is very glib and appears to have the “gift of gab”. He has an excellent copy writer and teleprompter, like all politicians. When you have skills and back up like that, you can capture the audience that you want (in B.O.’s case, clueless college students, welfare recipients, illegals, union thugs, etc.).

  • sandi

You won’t need gold or silver, they will not have any value. You will need water (this will be a new currency) food/seeds and ammunition/guns to protect your family, land and food. When you see the chaos in other parts of the world do you really think the average joe on the street is concered about the price of gold/silver? They need security, water food …. think about Maslow…..

    • Lastmanstanding

Sandi, you are right about the food, water, guns, etc.

However, precious metals have had value forever. Those who have read history know this. Granted, you can’t eat them but you can barter them as well. There will be someone who has no gold or silver. Perhaps he/she has an excess of beef, pigs, chicken, wheat, ammo, blankets, wood, etc. He/she knows someone that will take that silver/gold for an item that they need. Follow me? We don’t all think the same. If there ever was a time to think outside the box, it’s now.

How are we going to convince those thick headed Obama backers that he is ruining our country right before their eyes and they are too stupid to see it. Obama now says he will not enforce a 1996 Law that was duly passed by Congress, which was signed into law by a Democratic President, Bill Clinton, concerning gay marriages. This is a president who is now picking and choosing which laws he wants enforced. Doesn’t this sound like a dictator to you? Will the people continue voting for this dictator? What will he disregard next, the US Constitution? All I have to say folks let’s make sure this dictator Muslim gets his just dues in 2012. Will the same folks who were confused before, who voted for him see what they have done before 2012. I certainly hope so.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

He is gathering voters from all over. First, he bought millions of votes by giving GM and Chrysler billions of our dollars, to ensure future votes from the UAW, even though the democrats constantly are shipping these union jobs overseas, and the dummies keep voting for them. Then he is allowing illegal immigration and is even fighting Arizona trying to stop it, so he can get some more hispanic votes. To which I say, shame on each and everyone of you hispanics who condone those illegally entering this country, giving all of you a bad name. Shame on those of you who harbor them. Its a crime. Then he is polly coddling to the muslims, to gather their votes. Remember when it was frowned on during the cold war to be a communist sympathizer, and rightfully so? Now our very president, is a muslim sypathizer, in bed with those who have vowed to kill us and exterminate us from the earth. And he condones this with his actions. Shame on him. And shame on those who call themselves American’s, and turn a blind eye and accept this anti American behavior and support and vote for such a leper. Shame on them is all I can say.

GM just posted $4.7 billion in profit for 2010. How much do we get?

      • Brad

        Daryl,

We get nothing GM has been exempted from paying taxes on said profits, go figure.

      • Warrior

Ah yes, GM got a “special deal” whereas they get to carry losses forward after they were declared “Bankrupt” to offset gains. Go figure.

Winners and losers, winners and losers! If you support the “regime” guess who joins in the winners circle?

Debt ceiling is a fascinating issue. I wonder how the credit card companies approach the issue with their customer? Do the board members sit around in a smoke filled board room and vote to raise individual’s card limits? What measuring stick do you think they use? What?? Ability to repay? Preposterous I say!

    • Carlucci

Very interesting question. I’m sure everyone on the list knows that the banks and credit card companies are the responsible parties for the changes to the bankruptcy laws in 2005.

What everyone may not know is that these vultures also own “services” like Consumer Credit Counseling. Did you know that when someone defaults on a credit card, three months later the debt is SOLD to a collection agency? Right before this happens, the bank or credit card company files a claim to collect insurance for the amount owed (every credit card issued is insured). Essentially they are paid what is owed on the card by their insurance company, and then make extra money on the deal when they sell the debt to a collection agency. The collection agency then commits fraud by representing to the consumer that they are collecting the debt for the bank or credit card company. The good news is that the consumer’s “contract” with the credit card company ended once the debt was sold.

How do I know this? I used to work in the collection industry, and then worked in the “debt forgiveness” industry. This info is also in the Fair Debt Collections and Practices Act of 1973.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        Carlucci:

Facinating! I have never had bad debts myself so I am a “babe in the woods” from that standpoint. Hopefully I will never get into that position, but Little Barry working so furiously who knows?

“I’ve heard a lot of rumors about Obama’s “secret objectives.” Most of them I dismiss as utter bunk. But if one of them is bankrupting the country that has been so good to him, he has a chance to be the first President in our history to do it.”

There is no “secret agenda”. Obama has stated his objective from the beginning. To transform the US and share the wealth and make us more progressive. Then we look to who he surrounds himself with and who are his advisers and czars. Socialists and communists and what are their objectives.

    • WayneT

Dan, I give up on the idiots who support Nobama’s, Agenda. I think they are a mixture of Communist, Socialist, and maybe a mixture of both who needs a dictator to lead them and to care for them. People in Libya, Eqypt, Yemen and these other countries are fighting their dictators trying to free themselves, and the Nobama supporters want to live under the same conditions those people are fighting to get out from underneath of this wrath of their dictators. I would like to have a logical minded person explain this to me. I don’t think it is possible.

      • Ellen

Let’s also throw in ignorant, uneducated & naive. Obama’s main constituents are blacks (49% drop out of high school), Hispanics (45% drop out of high school), unions (very few higher education people)and college students (naive). This explains why most of them believe everything he says. Blacks are far worse off since welfare was instituted. Immigrants are now disliked everywhere because of their negative impact. Unions are poorly viewed because they drive up costs. Obama is inciting a class war where the payers in society resent the non-payers (rather than pitying them) and the non-payers resent the payers (think they are greedy and heartless). So much for hope & change and unity. Now it’s divided hatred.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Well Ellen, he has managed to institute the change he hoped for.

      • JeffH

Ellen, there no reason to bring race into the discussion. An idiot is an idiot no matter what the international origin, race or gender.

      • Ellen

I’m sorry if I offended you. I feel Obama exploits the uneducated by making them feel he’s out for their best interest.

      • JeffH

Ellen, exploitation of the classes is what they(Marxist/socialist/communist) do best.

you are correct dan. he said in his campaign he would fundamentally change this country. funny thing is noone knew what that meant and noone question him about it. now we know. i just find it amazing that we live in a country where with all of our freedoms a guy like this cannot be stopped except by voting and that’s 2 years away. that’s a lot of time to do damage. if you are not going to hold people accountable then you deserve what you get.

      • Bruce D.

I assume Chip understands what is going on but is trying to appear reasonable to those who do not get it. But he did make the case for not really believing in the extent of Obama’s aggressive direction to the left. Something Obama also tried to do on the O’rielly Factor interview. Obama’s gift is to appears reasonable when he is anything but. That being said I thought Chip’s article was a good one.

  • s c

Believe it or not, we have people in America who don’t care what happens. All they need in life is someone to follow. They “reason” that if something goes wrong, THAT individual will be to blame.
Of course, it’s a matter of galloping denial on steroids, but then SOME people will believe ANYTHING as long as it’s been packaged properly.
SOME among us think that as long as their fearless leader acts like he’s not afraid of anything, then they have “nothing to fear” (sound familiar from somewhere in recent American history?).
Like it or not, America is on a path that demands that future generations pay for our stupidity. It took many politicians and many “voters” for this to happen, but it DID happen. SOME people refuse to look into a mirror. SOME people have no conscience.
You could say that SOME people can deny ANYTHING. Let them deny the FACT that they don’t deserve to be called human. Any people who enslave future generations and not have no remorse are NOT human.
SOME people love to redistribute misery. SOME people will say and do ANYTHING until it blows up in their faces.
After all, their leaders wouldn’t LIE (would they?). Why, it CAN’T happen here. Why, God is on our side, and HE wouldn’t let anything bad happen to us (would He?). Sleep well, America. It’s the one thing you’re GOOD at.

Just like I previously made a post on before, folks are fighting, and dying, in other countries to try to get out from under their dictators and and their are still people still supporting Dictator Nobama who has started picking, and choosing which Federal Laws that he wants enforced. Let’s see if Congress has the guts to stand up to this little Hitler.

When the money was literally WORTH LESS than the paper it took to print it, they used german ingenuity to print smaller (using LESS paper) stamps that were affixed to the underlying WORTHLESS marks to increase its nominal value… of course, as such craziness proceeded, commerce naturally came to a halt, and the freicorps (rightists) and communists started shooting each other in the streets… it got so bad women were selling themselves into prostitution just to eat… or you could just look @ zimbabwe today and their hyperinflation… that’s where we’re headed

Brad, that means you have a state full of Socialist and Communist to deal with. When the majority of people support this kind of government we have now, we are doomed for failure in the near future.

        WayneT,

Maryland representatives we have 8 of that 2 are republican the rest are rats and of course our 2 senators are rats also. The MAryland state legislature is 3/4 percent rat controlled so when it comes down to a balanced form of government we don’t have one here in my state. It’s either there way or the highway. Al,
thought of you today! My father in law had a re-enactment of a story of a lady, her boyfriend and her two kids stranded in the arizona desert on TV today. they told how the night belonged to the drug and human trafficers. 115 to 118 degrees during the day, man what a paradise!!! NOT!! Although with a foot of snow here and 34* it doesn’t really sound that bad!! LOL!

      • Al Sieber

Joe, that’s how it is. in the summer it gets around 115- 120 degrees but that’s along the Colorado River in the valley, I live in the mountains and it gets around 100 but we have a good breeze all the time. if you’re out in the desert you better be armed and take turns sleeping or you’ll be surrounded by illegals before you know it, and don’t have a camp fire, I found out the hard way, they’ll see it and sneak over, and that was in 1987, now it’s 20 times worse.

“Deductions for the interest you pay on your mortgage? Wiped out.”

That ought to have a fun effect on what is left of the housing market.
It will be good for big business though. Interest paid by a business that rents housing/apartments would remain deductible. It is after all a business expense.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I was still able to deduct my mortgage interest this year. Its right there on the itemized deduction page of the 1040 tax form.

      • soldier

wow…. just wow. You do realize that the taxes you do THIS YEAR are for LAST YEAR. So that by April 15, 2011, your taxes for 2010 are due.

      • JeffH

soldier, duh! I mean Duh! Can you explain it once more so we all understand?

    • Brad

      Vicki,

If that small portion of Ohmama’s budget survives the house it won’t fly only because there is a law on the books extending those tax breaks for two years. Basically Ohmama would be breaking his own law by reducing/eliminating the mortgage interest deduction and if you think about it this budgit proposal is for FY12. He could eliminate it by December 2012, by that time he will have lost his reelection bid and getting ready to move back to Chicago. Only time will tell and believe the house will cut it from Ohmama’s so called “OVER INFLATED BUDGIT”. Vicki keep your powder dry my friend, have a great day.

      • Stone

I have a question. First i was told that my end of month check for Dec would be more because they would take less FICA tax out and the Bush tax cuts were extended. In Jan my check was less because of a change in the tax code. My Military retirement check is less and so is my Sacramento retirement check. So with the tax cut extension i’m make less. What gives.

      • Brad

        Stone,

If I were you I’d be on the phone saking questions; currently my paycheck has gone up a little, and your right about military retired pay I haven’t seen a change in cola for two year’s. Check out mypay website log in to find out what’s going on with your check. Lastly I would get on the horn and find who handles retired pay for the city of Sacramento. My friend California is in a bad state of affairs and will take from you with out your consent, be careful and get your answers from the horses mouth!!!

Since when did breaking the law matter the this lawless group? Obamacare has been declared by a federal judge and Barry is continuing to implement it.

If you think about it, Obama just being in the White House is breaking the law, so a little thing like some silly tax deduction is nothing.

      • Jovianus

A few judges have decided the health care reform law is unconstitutional. More have decided it is constitutional. Which of the groups of judges is correct?

It’s a call for the SCOTUS to decide.

      • Jovianus

Ummmm…as you guys keep constantly reminding us…it’s the HOUSE that sets forth the budget. Not the president. So….the GOP tackles the budget how? By imserting moral/religious preferences and attacking working Americans as well. Eve then, they won’t get down to specifics except if it’s abortion related..then it’s easy red meat to throw to the American Taliban contingent and something they know won’t get passed by the Senate in any event.

Step to the line folks…what would you cut ?

      • Brad

        Jovianus,

I see what it is now, you have no solutions to bring to the table, we need to fix the budgit to include our deficit. You are willing to sit back and let others do the work or you try to change the subject, well it isn’t going to work Jack. As you would say “step up to the line and provide solutions” if you can’t, tuck your tail between your legs and go home, let the adults deal with this problem.

      • LES

There is the problem, if they make cuts they will not be reelected, The easy way to reelection is keep promising more to more people. It really is a self destructive system.

In the 1700s it was said a Democracy cannot survive much more than 200 years as once the people learn they can vote themselves favors from the public treasury it will fail from fiscal collapse.

We are living on borrowed time.

      • John the Libertarian

see your above comment on what to cut— if we don’t we’re ALL going to hell in a hand basket anyway— and all your beloved socialist welfare fdr and lbj programs with it— we just don’t have the cash your dim lib komrades have promised all these years AND THE CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST!!!

We are talking about the PROPOSED Budget. That would be Obama’s baby.

If the Republicans actually pass the thing we will start in on them.

      • Jovianus

Y’know…for one of the few times I’
ve watched and read this board, there are some relevant, sane and doable suggestions made. I made my suggestions in an earlier post (as well as earlier threads). it appears we do have some similarties…military needs cutting. We appear to agree that welfare needs reform (one day/week workfare to help reduce state finacial burdens?), I stated something about unemployment needing a day’s contribution of work to help ease that cost…

I stated I’d look at cutting tax subisidies to oil and Big Ag, reform mineral leases, and look at taking away the special top tax brackets recently passed in December.

Then there are the cop outs who just say ‘cut out X agency etc…without looking at what programs would be cut and not realizing the massive disruption to the system and impossibility of making that drastic, unwise decision.

But…heck, so far we’ve found some common ground. There is hope !

    • get right

Meanwhile, the rampant fraud and corruption going on in world financial markets is starting to be exposed and the whole house of cards could come crashing down at any time.

Most Americans have no idea that a horrific economic collapse could happen at literally any time. There is no way that all of this debt and all of this financial corruption is sustainable. At some point we are going to reach a moment of “total system failure”.

      • Granny Mae

I have a suggestion that could solve it all !!!! We could start back into the oil business with a passion and sell it to all the guys that are now getting it from the middle east and we could pay all our bills. I can’t believe they are worried about Libia cutting off all oil when we have more oil than most of the middle east. So why are we holding back? Somebody is working hard to bankrupt this country >

      • Lewis Munn

Senators here are Dems also, and one a drunk.

    • Carl

Hey Neighbor…Rainin out her in california…land of the Democrats…So many letters to representatives over the years only to be told what I think doesn’t matter no matter how many times I vote for someone else they are re-elected? Must be a majority of liberals here…or someone is cheating during the elections

      • WayneT

My heart goes out to you Carl, and all the others who live in California. However, their vote effects the whole country so it is hurting all of us too.

      • Ruby

Hey Carl. San Jose, CA here. I know how you feel. There are pockets of strong conservative-minded people. San Ramon comes to mind; however, not enough to swing the entire state.

I think Californians are waking up. This last election showed that there are more conservatives than I imagined. Jerry won by a somewhat smaller margin than I thought he would. I still hope another Meg or Carly will arise and take California by storm.

      • JeffH

Carl & Ruby, Fresno here. I spent a lot of time personally campaigning for Meg Whitman and especially Carly Fiorina. I’ve never been so dejected about Californians as I was after the elections. I really don’t believe we can fix the rampant progressive/socialistic mentality of the “majority” in this state. I’ve lived here my whole life and spent 59 years of it in the bay area. Even the central valley supported Jim Costa, a liberal Democratic cling-on, who’s done as much damage to the economy in the agriculture rich central valley as Boxer and Feinstein have.

Fiorina would have been a tremedous asset to California’s legislative process as well as Whitman would have been as a business minded governor not beholding to the same public union money that supported Brown, Boxer and a host of other threatened incumbents.

      • Pat

        JeffH,
I agree with you when you speak of having business leaders in office. I understand Donald Trump is considering running in 2012. I would want to hear more about his platform but I really liked him saying he would tax China 25% on goods brought into here.

You have my heartfelt sympothy. However, how could you pass up a resurection of Govenor Moonbeam? HA! I thik all the balding pot bellied fagot hippies are hoping he will once again be banging Ronstadt like a screen door in a hurricane in the Govenor’s Mansion. Long live the t0s, eh?

Yea, I was dumbfounded when “you” people sent that goof -ball back to DC. Ya spose they thought the dummycraps were really going to hold all power in DC and bail out CA so they could just continue business as usual?

I have made the suggestion that Illinois should post signs at its borders stating: “Welcome to Illinois. California on the Missippi”.

Govenor Quinnocio was elected on a campaing to RAISE taxes and INCREASE spending….

      • Palin12

        Hi JeffH,
I heard last week that Gov. Moonbeam wants to commute the sentences of all deathrow inmates to life in prison. ALL of them, even R.Ramirez. And here in Nevada, none other than Dirty Harry Reid addressed our state legislature to outlaw prostitution in our now legal brothels in the rural counties. After he made the announcement he paused for applause. What he got instead was total silence from Dems and GOP alike. So we have 14.8% unemployement and he wants to put 1,250 more people out of work. What’s he doing butting into state/county business anyway? As a matter of fact, Reid has said that his own mother used to wash bed linens for prostitutes in Searchlight.

      • JC in CA

Ruby and JeffH, Im in Sacramento, moving up here from San Diego to start my family. I quickly learned and have coined the phrase…’The S#-t is closest near the Hole’ The furlough days were nice cuz the roads were free of all the ex-Davis/ex-kalifoniator zombies.

This state is spiralling downward out of control and the rest of us have nothing to hold on to. So what my kids’ classes have risen in #’s from 20 to 32, I hold them responsible for their actions at and after school. Now we need to hold our state reps responsible to us by presenting a positive state budget that begins to address the REAL issues, including but not entirely the U.C. and the Dept. of Corrections systems. Actually, the Dept. of Corr. isn’t part of the budget…it is an entire monster in and of itself…housing more than 30% illegals from mexico and other foreign nations breaking the law after breaking into our country.

I vote for a barrel of mexican crude per day per for every illegal that we continue to incarcerate here in our prisons. I vote for the removal and pay caps for prison doctors. It was in the Bee a while back that many, far too many, make over $400k…now really?

Keep the pressure on your conservative reps, and don’t give up to persuade your dems in the capitol’s. Make them hear your concerns of fiscal responsibility.

      • http://Verizon Bud G.

Jeff: I am from Florida. We have a system for voting where a person must have a voter registration card, proof of who they are and signature verification. It doesn’t stop all the illegal voting but it sure puts a damper into it.

I don’t know what they have in California but I do know there were over one million illegal immigrants who voted for President Clinton. The results you got in the last election may the result of vote fraud like then. Look at Nevada. Reed stated he would use the illegal immigrant vote and also rigged the voting machines with his union thugs doing the dirty work. The polls before the election suggests he stole the election. He earns the nickname “Dirty Harry” and I am looking forward to 2012 when this clown becomes the minority leader of the Senate. Then, we will be able to undo a lot of bad legislation and get rid of the worst president in the history of the United States.
You recall the vetting issue? My bet is President Obama won’t seek another term because of this as he won’t received a free pass this time.

      • Palin12

        BudG,
You betcha the election here in Nevada was rigged. I don’t know ANYBODY that voted for Reid. Several people have stated they voted for Angle but the printout said Reid. Union thugs were telling the casino workers that they may not have a job if Reid lost. On the morning of the election, the latest poll from RealClearPolitics had Angle up by 3.8%. In one year’s time I only saw one pro-Reid bumper sticker; all the rest had “Dump Reid” stickers. Obummer came to Vegas to campaign for Dirty Harry telling us how much we needed him in DC. After the election it was a different story though, as we elected a Republican governor who pledged no new taxes, Reid said Nevada you’re on your own now, maybe you should reconsider your no new tax pledge.

      • http://MSN.com Linda R

Please tell to Congress and Obama that we can’t afford all these crazy spending by Governments. Stop and cut our governments to minimal!!! All American should go on streets and shout clearly to stop all spending of the money we don’t have.

        Linda R,
Congress needs to attend a Dave Ramsey seminar where he teaches people to “live on less than what you make”. We could take up a donation, purchase the tickets for them (couldn’t trust them with the money) and force them to attend and take notes. Yeah, right!

      • Granny Mae

        PAT,

What an excellent idea ! I’m with you !

    • Jovianus

OK…here’s a nice little excercise for everyone. What specific cuts would you do if the red marker were in your hand? Don’t cop out by saying ‘I’d do away with Dept. of Ed.’ etc. That’s a cop out and only good for a rant or two, and y’all know it.

      Specifics.

I know I have made some proposals, and Eddi has as well. And y’all called us “communists” (when you’re being in a kind modd).

So put it up folks. Specifics. You going to go after the military? Or how about not cutting some places, keeping revenue and reversing some of the sweet heart tax subsidies and cuts given to Big Business?

Or are you going to be like every conservative out there these days and refuse to do the hard work and only rant about it knowing the reality (leaving it to the Dems to once again fix the mess the Conservatives placed us in)?

      • Robert

The mess you refer to was a joint effort of both parties, and the Dems have never fixed anything. Only a fool would believe differently.

      • Bruce D.

The Republicans have had their share of corruption. By trying to keep taxes lower, attempting to lower debt, and focusing more on the Constitution than we have seen in more than a hundred years they are at least for now trying to take a stand against government corruption. For democrats it is business as usual. Grab as much tax payer dollars as possible and redistribute it to who ever will promise them their vote. The bigger the government the more that corruption can be hidden from view. Big government and redistribution is a high priority of the left.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        Jovianus:

Why not eliminate the Dept. of Education? It is a good place to start, and it is a worthless agency.

Then eliminate the Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Homeland “Security”, the Ag. Dept. for starters. They all have enormous budgets and their elimination would save us billions.

Eliminate ALL foreign aid other than Israel. The countries we borrow billions to send them hate us anyway.

Close all overseas military bases. The war ended 65 years ago and it is time to pull out.

Cut the White House budget by 50%. Defund the facsist czars. Cut the Secret Service by 50%. Eliminate all SS protection for all ex-presidents / spouses.

Cut the congressional budget by 50%. Cut the pay for Reps, Senators, the president by 25%.

Eliminate all federal pensions and put all of them, current and retired, on Social Securtiy.

Eliminate all federal holidays other than Jan 1, Good Friday, May 30, July 4, Sept. 1, two days at Thanksgiving and two days at Christmas.

Cut the budgets for any remaing agencies by 50%. Cut the IRS budget by 75%. (Institute the Fair Tax and ELIMINATE the IRS)

There are many expenditures in the budget that we are not aware of and 99% of them can be eliminated as they are none of the federal government’s business.

As a senator of old (Dirksen?) said: “A billion here and a billion there and pretty soon you’re looking at real money”.

      • Jovianus

Nice specific cuts. C’mon…you’re copping out. Don’t use sweeping generalizations. That’s a cop out to a problem you don’t want to admit you can’t solve without going against the TPer rants and battle cry

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Don’t know about the “TPer rants”. I have been screaming about doing all of that for at least 30 years.

They are pretty specific. I named several agencies. Their elimination would indeed save many billions. The ATF is another good place to use the ax. None of that is Washington’s business.

Eliminating the remaing “bailouts” would also save billions. Sell GM and Chrysler back to the private sector along with the banks and insurance companies. That would bring in many billions to the Treasury.

What do you suggest cutting, or eliminating? Or, do you think we need to expand on all of them?

      • Bruce D.

You could start off by getting rid of all the fraud Obama said was in Medicare and why stop there. If there is that much fraud there is fraud in every department of government including the military. Make federal employees take the same social security program the rest of the population has and pay for their own health program like the rest of us. Freeze their pay until it is in line with the private sector. Get rid of all Obama czars and their underlings. Cut all foreign aid by 25%-people don’t like us anyway. If they complain get rid of all of it. If we need to police the world force Europe to do their part. Tax imports on China. Drill for oil so all our wealth does not leave the country. Build nuclear plants like France did with our technology. Make America business friendly again which at one time was the foundation of our success and power. Freeze most government hiring and streamline the government. If government does not work smarter there is no hope anyway. Don’t even think about cutting social security until the budget is balanced and all the insanity is out of government. Then and only then raise the working age one year. Enact similars laws as AZ wants to to reduce dependence on aid to illegals in this country. Just sealing the borders will save millions of dollars. Fine employers $12,500 for hiring illegals. Fine those taking illegal drugs $5,000 rather than jail time. Selling drugs 20 years with no parole. I could go on and on. It really isn’t all that hard. I do not want to hear anyone say that one million or ten million trimmed from the budget is not real money.

      • Granny Mae

        Old Henry,

I agree with most everything you said, I would even go so far as to stop welfare for all undocumented aliens along with their foodstamps, education of their children, and no medical including no citizenship for babies born here. No more anchor babies ! I would do a sweeping investigation of all programs like SSI and eliminate the waste and the hangerson in those programs. I don’t believe that women should be able to continue to draw SSI for children of dead husbands after they remarry again especially if they have sued for the death of thet spouse and recieved a million dollars ! SSI for children should end at any time after that child has reached 18 years old. Any person receiving SSI and is able to work should work and no SSI for their children just because mommy or daddy is getting SSI. It becomes a way of life and makes everyone else responsible for taking care of them and their children and that is not fair to everyone else. People need to start being responsible for themselves, no more free loaders. Pass a law making it possible for extended families to go after dead beat dads and moms. It is usually the extended family that ends up taking care of the kids . The extended family would go after the dead beat parent a lot faster than the one with the custody of the kids. I have experienced that first hand, with a sister and with a son. I would have no problem going after the absent parent and putting their butts in jail at all. I could go on but this enough for now.

      • http://yahoo richard

these are all cuts i can agree with

      • Jovianus

Richard…what’s being cut? Sweeping generalizations are a cop out.

For example…the il Depletion Aloowance. Cut it. Subsidies for Ag. Cut them. Mining leases based on 150 year old legilsation…raise them to market value. Military spending…15% cut. Tax subsidies to corporations shipping jobs overseas..eliminate. Do away with top tax bracket and replace with the next tier down. Workfare instead of welfare and unemployemnt contributions of labor when drawing it (and have the recipients do one day/week and cut state expenditures that way). Go after the employers who employ undocumented workers and make them pay up the taxes they avoided employing undocumented workers (with appropriate penalites). Raise gas tax 3 cents and toss that into oil free enrgy research and get us off the opil addiction (think of the costs savings with the military spending in fuel alone!). Do away with No Chold Left Behind and return education to the states. Implement the Puclic Option for Health Care.

        How’s that for specifics?

      • Bruce D.

Jovianus I am surprised you said get rid of the top tax bracket. It is a good idea but it would be better to lower tax rates for corporations to keep them here and attract foreign ones in addition to eliminating any tax incentives for leaving. Reduce regulations especially on small businesses. Every thing you have said is worthy of consideration. I am sure their is a lot of fraud and waste in the military. Finding fraud is what made Hoover popular as a senator.

      • Bruce D.

I like the idea of green energy. The only problem I have with green energy is that it needs to be subsidized as does most liberal programs. Not only subsidized but Green energy also relies on gas being kept artificially high by preventing free markets principles to work in oil exploration. Free markets are also suppressed in nuclear energy and health care.

      • Bruce D.

The gas tax is specifically for highway infrastructure. I am against integrating that with the general budget. That is what got us into problems with social security. Basically they stole from society security to be able to afford higher pay and benefits for government employees. As soon as you start blurring the boundaries it encourages corruption. Corruption is our #1 problem in Washington and the redistribution of tax dollars to buy votes and power.

      • get right

Bruce, you are aware that 2/3 of our corporations don’t pay taxes now aren’t you?? The tax rate has never been lower than in the past 10 yrs, and that didn’t stop them from leaving us high and dry. Your logic is flawed.

      • Bruce D.

Get it right your facts are flawed. Our corporate rate is the second highest in the world and soon to become first when Japan drops theirs. You should know that. You are playing games and not a serious person.

      • Cathy

You have it completely correct. I would like a copy of your post sent to Congress…yeah, right. Like they’d listen.

I especially like the “close all the bases around the world.” Ron Paul is right on this one but no one listens. I’ve heard Republicans on Fox say that they “protect our interests.” How dumb are these people? If anything, it irritates the people in the countries where our bases are located.

Hint: How many foreign bases are located on US soil? Duh…

First of all cut all spending the democrats have been in the red since 07 and yes both parties are to blame for the mess we are in today. How do you explain the 4 trillion in new debt Ohmama piled on in two year’s, so cut the pork no more earmarks, don’t raise the debt ceiling, cut Obamacare, reduce all departments to 2004 funding levels.
How about foreign aid lets cut it all, we should be consintraiting on our own. Finaly balance the budgit, Jovianus what are your solutions you haven’t brought anything to the table, we are waiting on your responce.

      • eddie47d

Jovianus; You came up with a good list and so did several others.Few will get eliminated on either side but they could use some deep cuts. Unfortunetly there are programs out there that need more money not less. TSA is another agency that has gotten out of hand and has become too intrusive. Our Representatives seldom know what to cut unless we inform them. Come up with facts and how much of an agency should be cut and WHY. You can’t just say cut or abolish the Dept. of Education or the Military but give solid reasons.

      • Bruce D.

Any serious talk about reducing debt has to take into consideration eliminating Obamacare and replacing it with free market principles that were ignore by Obama in the first place. Obama has grown government by 20% in two years so cutting everything he did in the last two years is pretty specific.

      • Bruce D.

Gaddafi stressed that Obama’s presidency is “a major historical gain” and said, “He is someone I consider a friend. He knows he is a son of Africa. Regardless of his African belonging, he is of Arab Sudanese descent, or of Muslim descent. He is a man whose policy should be supported, and he should be assisted in implementing it in any way possible.

i’d get rid of the irs. all funding, from the cities to the feds, would come from taxes on goods. the wealthy buy more stuff and better, more expensive stuff, so they’d pay their fair share. i’d make all afdc parents go to work or lose their checks. i’d round up all the illegals and ship them home – it can be done, just look up operation wetback from the eisenhower era. i’d lower pell grants for junior colleges. i’d reform medicaid to stop ambulance and emergency room abuse. i’d cut salaries and bennies for all govt workers to bring them in line with the private sector. i’d stop the wars, bring the troops home, and station them every 10 feet across our entire border – north, south, east, west – and they’d be armed and ordered to shoot anything invading our country. i’d legalize drugs, tax them, and use half of the tax money to pay on the principle of our lonas and the other half to set up treatment centers. i’d stop giving heroin addicts methadone which is more addictive than heroin. i’d take the babies away from drug addicts until they were clean. i could write you a book, but that’s enough for now.

i was a journalism major/english minor in college. it just drives me crazy to see the way people write and speak. i don’t mind the occasional typo of which i, too, am guilty, but to see the way people seem so uneducated is appalling. the one that bothers me most is the misuse of pronouns. he and i went to the store, but you went to the store for him and me not for he and i. when in doubt, seperate them. you went to the store for me or i/for him or he? what the hell are they teaching in schools these days? since so many folks learn to speak from watching tv, i don’t understand why the producers don’t spend a few bucks to hire an english teacher to proof read their scripts before they film the shows. lots of english teachers will be available soon.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        Barbm:

I had a hunch you were involved in the area of English. We had phonics teachers in our day, but no more.

Yes, I know what you are saying. I am constantly correcting my 27 year old son and my 6 year old grandaughter on double negatives. Don’t never, etc. I tell them it sounds ignorant, and it does.

The misuse of their, there and they’re just drives me bonkers.

Another one that seems to have cropped up in recent years in starting a sentence with the wrod but. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!

You do not make typos. Your keyboard does it.

Also, I thin the pronoun I is supposed to be capitalized as are words that start a sentence along with English Teacher. I thought you might be testing me….

      • Cathy

barbm: My goodness. You minored in English? I guess that didn’t include capitalization? Sorry, old Henry, but it’s English teacher, not English Teacher. barbm: Proofread is ONE word, not two. You misspelled seperate, should be separate.

        Cathy:

I think it should be English Teacher. The title English modifies the word Teacher, I think. It’s like when you use the word Dad in place of his name and dad when you are not referring to anyone specific. At least that is the way my fuzzy brain remembers it being drilled into my head by the phonics teacher. Or, is it Phonics Teacher? HA!

Oh, barbm did NOT mis-spell those words and leave off the caps. Her keyboard did that.

OK, you’re on. Medicare was sold to the nation as a program to “lift the burden of medical care for elderly relatives from families.” It turns out that isn’t happening. Instead, Medicare repackages the medical bills as national debt and hands that to our children and grandchildren with interest. Medicare has added a tremendous paperwork burden to the medical business and driven up overhead costs, but it underpays the doctors, and after 40 years of experience the government still can’t keep from losing a large amount of money to fraud and waste. Medicare has not lived up to its promise. It’s a colossal failure. It’s time to phase it out.

Before you start slandering me as heartless, notice I didn’t say “shut it down at noon,” I said, “Phase it out.” We’re stuck with making some provision for those receiving benefits from the existing setup, but we need to come up with better ideas very soon. (No, Obamacare isn’t the answer; it’s a mess of proven failures and some of the worst ideas ever collected by Congress. Example: “We think medical record-keeping costs too much. So we’ll confiscate everybody’s medical records and make the doctors go through a multi-billion dollar federal bureaucracy to get their patients’ information.”)

      • libertytrain

I’ve been confused by the inability of Medicare to be done even remotely efficiently. What makes any one person anywhere figure Obamacare would be handled any better, if not worse. Doctors will be retiring in droves.

definitely, there’s just an overabundance of greed on the parts of those that want to steal, not work for the money, just steal. And that covers folks from “working the system” down at the bottom to those at the very very top.

      • barbm

i think medicaid is in a worse mess than medicare. at least i worked and paid into the system for many, many years. the vast majoity of medicaid recipients have never worked a day in their lives. medicare comes with a premium that must be paid monthly, there’s an annual deductible, we pay part of the prescription costs, and we pay 20% of all doctor, hospital, lab, and x-rays including mammograms. medicaid is entirely free and covers 100% of all medical procedures and prescriptions. i know medicaid people who take ambulances to the emergency room for non-emergency services. ambulance is minimum $500 as is emergency room service. could take a bus at their own expense for $1.50 and go to a doctor instead of emergency for less than $100. medicare people can’t so that since we have to pay for part of it.

        Good points all.

My grandad would take my dad and his brothers to the dentist and pay cash on the way out. As a kid our dentist would bill us and dad would send a check.

Now days my dentist bills me and I make payments each month to get it paid off before the next appointment. I do the same thing with bills from the doctor after insurance pays its share. (There is another one: its vs it’s)

Old Henry made a good list that I’d like to add to: Reform welfare & gut HHS. We pay an enormous amount in taxes yet it’s never enough. Welfare has grown substantially over the past 10 years and we simply can’t afford to pay for people to lead irresponsible lives. If a woman can’t support herself because she dropped out of high school, why is she having 6 babies she can’t afford and won’t raise responsibly? Why are the fathers of these babies not held financially responsible (DNA proves paternity)? Why does Congress think taxpayers should fund this lifestyle? On the HHS topic, they finally started looking for fraud when Obamacare said all the ‘savings’ would go to Medicaid. Why is fraud discovered in Medicare not going back into Medicare? The FDA isn’t effective. Why are trans fats allowed in our food? Considering Medicaid is an enormous amount of our federal budget and it can be managed, it should be the first thing tackled.

      • barbm

“Why are trans fats allowed in our food?” becaue the prices at restaurants would go so high you wouldn’t be able to eat out any more. olive and coconut oil are very expensive. also, those 2 oils have a very low burning point so are difficult to work with. but you can stp going out to eat and cook with healthy oils at home. that’s what we did.

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        Barbm:

You can afford to eat out? As they say on the south side of Daileyville: You be rich momma!

Also, Jose the illegal alien cook ait’t mart nough to cook wit dem ools widou burnen em….

        Ellen:

More very good Points! I overlooked them. Thank you for bringing them to the fore.

I am assuming (I hate using that word) that your questions are rhetorical in nature. If not, I can splain it to you Lucy in 3,000 words or less…..

        Jovianus:

Eliminate the agencies, and more, that I mentioned and your cuts are automatic. The agencies are gone, so are the subsidies, handouts, etc.

No need to quibble over which subsidies to cut, or how much.

      • John the Libertarian

O.K., Jovianus- here’s my cuts (guarantee they’ll hurt, but start us on the road we MUST take or we’ll ALL suffer, if we don’t) 1) close all federal departments not authorized by the constitution (as others herein have advocated); 2) sell ALL assets (read lands and buildings) currently occupied by ALL federal entities other than the capitol, white house and law enforcement activities; 3) cur ALL PRESENT AND FUTURE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS by 1/3 [I speak as a "senior" within the year of "early retirement" with no home and 6 figures in the hole]; 4) exempt from cuts veteran benefits as those were promised to those who agreed to put their lives at risk to serve the nation (read government); 5) Cut ALL overseas bases and our military accordingly, leaving 6 carrier battle groups {3 for the East Coast & 3 for the left coast, hawaii & Alaska}; 6) maintain a sufficiently large defense industry to be able to protect the US adequately and ramp uppable in case of chinese attempts @ world domination ala Hitler 7) Pass a Balanced budget amendment WITH REAL TEETH… failing to do all of the above will just result in a financial collapse the likes of which the world has NEVER SEEN BEFORE… Thanks to the republicrats and demopublicans we are now in the midst of the largest debt bubble in the history of mankind with the financial disaster to follow of similar magnitude… for references, consult “Manias, Panics and Depressions” and “Aftershock”… I’m afraid we do not at present have leaders and statesmen with enough guts like Washington, Jefferson, Paine, Charles Carol (of Carroltown), Patrick Henry, or Henry Knox— and if you don’t know who they all were, THAT’S PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

Good ideas other than Social Security. That program is self-funding. Oh wait! The theiving bastards in DC have been raping it for 50 years!

Let’s do some research and discover who voted for, or signed, any budget that spent excess SS funds. We will then arrest the ones still living, put them in jail, try them, convict them, execute them and confiscate everything they own. The proceeds will then be placed into the SS Trust Fund. Those that are dead could be dug up and hung just for fun. We can confiscate all they left behind and place it in the SS Trust Fund.

Next we put ALL federal and state employees into SS. We then take all the money in their pension fund and place it into SS.

      • John the Libertarian

OH: LOVE the idea of executing those who stole from the so called “trust fund”… some trust, eh?… been “contributing (yuk, yuk) involuntarily- for about 44 years now, and just when I’m supposed to “cpllect” it’s ready to go bust… but Old Henry, I’d GLADLY give up a third of it as I said in my post above if all the other cuts listed above, including the drastic ones in defense, if it would save my kids (and now 3 grandkids) from the unbelieveable financial collapse soon to befall us… just think about that for a minute… the greatest generation left us after WW2 as the greatest nation financially in the history of mankind, and then thru their (and our) misguided national profilgate spending, we have become the largest debtor nation in the history of mankind— SOME LEGACY TO DROP IN OUR KIDS AND GRANDKIDS LAP, isn’t it???

      • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

        John:

If we close ALL overseas military bases I think that would be enough “cutting” in the defense budget.

You wanna work the nightshift running the gallows on the Capital lawn? I got dibs on first shift as I ususally hit the hay about 8:00, or earlier depending the time of year.

I would like a gallows similar to the one used in “Hang ‘em High” with Pat Hingle as the judge. Doing that many of the dirt-bag politicians at a time we should be able to whack em out in about six months….

      • JeffH

Jovianus, you have done your homework…although very predictable results I might add.
“A Marxist begins with his prime truth that all evils are caused by the exploitation of the proletariat by the capitalists. From this he logically proceeds to the revolution to end capitalism, then into the third stage of reorganization into a new social order of the dictatorship of the proletariat, and finally the last stage — the political paradise of communism.”

“Radicals must be resilient, adaptable to shifting political circumstances, and sensitive enough to the process of action and reaction to avoid being trapped by their own tactics and forced to travel a road not of their choosing.”

“And so the guided questioning goes on without anyone losing face or being left out of the decision-making. Every weakness of every proposed tactic is probed by questions…. Is this manipulation? Certainly….”

“The job then is getting the people to move, to act, to participate; in short, to develop and harness the necessary power to effectively conflict with the prevailing patterns and change them. When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an ‘agitator’ they are completely correct, for that is, in one word, your function—to agitate to the point of conflict.”

      • Michael J.

        JeffH,
Nailed it again Jeff, I believe these cloned “useful idiots” mass produced in what used to be known as Universities have been implanted with a cranial Tape Worm when they volunteered for that psychedelic hallucinogenic drug study. Said Tape Worm injests common sense and then defecates socialistic propaganda.

So engrained are they, that you can expect them to be still screaming for social justice and the like, even whilst they walk naked through the doors of the gas chamber.

      • Palin12

I’d start by firing all of Michelle Obummer’s 21 personal assistants. Then I’d cut all politician’s salaries in half and cut all their perks out. They don’t need to be chauffered around in limos; let them drive their own cars like the rest of us. Cut all foreign aid except Israel. Make all employers use E-Verify and fire all the illegal aliens. All able-bodied US citizens on welfare given 3 months to take over the jobs from the illegals and then welfare cutoff permanently. Eliminate the Departments of Education and Labor. All government employees get pensions similar to the private sector. All death row inmates held for longer than 5 years executed immediately. No Secret Service protection for ex-presidents after they’ve been out of office for 4 years. Eliminate Obummer’s 16,000 new IRS agents that oversee Obummercare. How’s that for a start?

      • http://?? Joe H.

Sounds like a damn good place to start to me!!!

    • Warrior

So kids, today’s question is, How many business’s have Unions started to promote jobs? Drum Roll_____________Answer – NONE!

    • George

Carl and Sander Levin. Debbie Stabenow. I feel like I bang my head against a wall. I disagree with them 100% of the time. 77K of us voted against Sander this time and he still won. How? Why do people keep voting for these folks. Our state is in the crapper and these folks put it there!? Their voting record is in lock step with Barry.
