How America Became A Communist Nation

How America Became A Communist Nation

The root of the problem the world is facing right now isn’t really governments… or banks. The real problem is simply a very bad idea — the idea that the State ought to sit in the center of society. Let me explain…

The last 100 years (since 1914) saw not only the end of the classic gold standard, but also the fantastic ascendancy of the nation-state.

These two trends are inherently and dangerously related.

Until World War I, the central government of the United States, for example, played a small role in the lives of its citizens. Its powers were strictly limited, as were its revenues. It was specifically barred from taxing citizens directly. It was a humble government that interacted with the individual states in the union, but didn’t interact much with individual citizens.

The first signs of change came after the Civil War. "Progressive" ideas began to emerge. Most of these ideas came from Germany, from philosophers like Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The core of these ideas was that the State itself was superior to its citizens. Therefore, the argument went, society ought to be organized to better accomplish the goals of the State.

Today, most Americans have no idea that the foundations of our modern State are based — nearly verbatim — on the demands of Marx’s Communist Manifesto.

In 1848, Marx threatened to organize a worker’s revolution unless European governments:

1. Abolished property rights and applied all rents towards public purposes.

[Modern corollary: Don't pay your property taxes, lose your house. So who really owns your house?]

2. Levied a heavy, progressive income tax to equalize wages.

[Modern corollary: Combined Federal and State marginal income and payroll taxes approach (or surpass) 50 percent in many U.S. states.]

3. Abolished all rights of inheritance.

[Modern corollary: The estate tax.]

4. Confiscated the property of all emigrants.

[Modern corollary: The 2008 "Hero's Act," which forces people leaving the U.S. to pay the equivalent of their estate taxes on the global assets before they turn in their passports.]

5. Centralized access to credit in the hands of the State by means of a national bank and an exclusive monopoly.

[Modern corollary: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which make more than 90 percent of all of the mortgages in the U.S. and have dominated the market for mortgages for decades.]

6. Centralized the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.

[Modern corollary: AT&T was a legal monopoly for decades. AMTRAK is a ward of the states. The government owns all the roads. And the State controls all air traffic.]

7. Provided free education for all children in public schools.

[Note the emphasis on public schools. Paying for education isn't enough. What counts is indoctrinating the kids in glorifying the State.]

8. Produced a common agricultural policy to maximize the productivity of the land.

[Modern corollary: Massive ethanol and agricultural subsidies.]

Most people in democracies like these ideas for one simple reason: They hold the allure of getting something for nothing. They are the siren song of living at the expense of your neighbor.

These ideas became extremely popular over the last 100 years all around the world. As a result, as democracy spread, so did these ideas. Politicians of each party and persuasion throughout the Western world quickly adopted them as their own (and never mentioned Marx).

As these ideas took hold, one big problem developed… How do you pay for them?

Progressive politicians believed they had the answer. They just took Marx’s big innovation: A progressive income tax. Let the rich pay!

It’s a popular idea — but it never works because decisions to add more benefits don’t take into account the expense of paying for them. It doesn’t take long for the budget to get out of control. Or said another way, everyone can’t live at the expense of his neighbor. His neighbor can’t afford it… and he moves.

More serious, the flaw in communism is obvious. Communism doesn’t account for the fact that people expect to control the fruits of their labor. People don’t like their assets being stolen and their wages being heavily taxed by a government that regulates their businesses and sends their children off to war. Incrementally, people stop working. Wealthy people flee… or hide their incomes.

Tax revenues fail to meet projections. Deficits grow. Deficit spending soars. And debts mount.

That’s where paper money comes in. Paper money isn’t only good for financing a war. It’s also perfect for closing the gap between what an economy ought to produce and its paltry real production when it has been beaten into submission by communist ideas. I like to explain it this way…

The central truth of economics is scarcity. There can never be enough of anything to satisfy everyone. The central truth of politics is patronage: Promising to give everything to everyone. Paper money is the bridge between economics and politics.

The unpaid debts of an entire generation of people in Western countries are coming due. The so-called "baby boomers" grew up in a world dominated by Marxism and Keynesian economics. These are bad ideas. They are destined to collapse.

And the collapse is here.

Poppycock.America is not,and has never been a “communist” nation.Or a “socialist” one. The problem is that conservatives mistake the existence of a safety net for the poor and those not originally poor buty down on their luck with
“socialism” But the two are not the same at all.
You see, there has to be a safety net for the unfortunate in America,or millions of innocent people would be absolutely helpless in the face of adversity.
Yes,conservatives always say that this should be the job of the private sector and not government, but they don’t realize that the private sector can only do so much.
The government has to do SOMETHING. But many conservatives today are so paranoid about “socialism” coming to America and so ignorant of the fact that pure laissez-faire unreguated capitalism is no better than the disastrous economic policies of communist nations.
Conservatives don’t realize that just reducing taxes as much as possible, giving all the tax breaks to the wealthy, deregulating business and eliminating welfare etc is the recipe for financial and social catastrophe infinitely worse than whatever economic troubles we are currently facing.
Supply-side economics does nothing but make the rich richer, the poor poorer, and forces more and more of the middle class to sink helplessly into poverty. Prosperity does not “trickle down”. It never has and it never will.
Whatever problems Obama care poses to America, what the Republicans want to do will be infinitely worse.

I’d like to add a bit from our Federal Government run national commercials on every mass media there is AD COUNCIL, just to drive the point home.

” CLICK IT OR TICKET ! YOU WILL BE CAUGHT ! ”

Now, that after they swore to us all they would NEVER EVER issue a ticket for just not wearing a seat belt nor pull anyone over for it, it would only occur if some other violation caused the LEO crews to notice no seatbelt was engaged…
Well, I haven’t forgotten the moment that totalitarian fed gov AD COUNCIL ad came streaming over my car radio – a virtual clone of the prior “YOU WILL BE CAUGHT DO NOT DRIVE DRUNK” totalitarian LIE they spewed over the air.(no, they don’t catch everyone who drives drunk, but they sure as heck flat out claimed they do)

  • Jeremy Leochner

I disagree with Mr. Stanberrys argument as I see it. While I cannot deny the increased involvment of government funding and influence in non traditional areas I dont think it qualifies as a communist system. Taxes however high do not equal communism so long as representatives of the people enact them while under public scrutiny. Perhaps it seems like Mr. Stansberry is questioning the very idea of taxes or government funding. The matter isnt one of taking anothers money to pay for oneself. No one would desire such a system save the heartless and selfish. I feel we can all agree on that. But combining funds taken from the incomes of all citizens and gradually dividing the amount among various programs for the sake of general welfare is not communist or extreme. We have to analyze the various programs and determine which are higher priorities. But calling such programs necessary I feel is not evil or foolish. Is it wrong to want to have those with help those without?. I have no desire to punish or violate the rights of those with for the sake of those without. However I worry without enough government funding or authority those with could violate the rights of those without.

    • Vicki

The author gave you a list. Do you assert there is something in error in that list?

      • Jeremy Leochner

Perhaps in the conclusions to be drawn from the list. Though I can personally not confirm or deny what Mr. Stansberry listed I still dont se it as meaning communism. Im no expert on communism but my best understanding is communism involves complete and total control of all aspects of the economy and society by the government for the sake of freedom for the lower class in opposition to the upper. However I am no expert so if anyone knows anything about communism please let me know I could be wrong. For the sake of argument I would hardly qualify our republics economy as under complete federal control, and considering the freedom of speech and expression that can be made against our government and the fact that we the people still hold power I do not believe our society has been fundementally altered towards complete government control.

      • Vicki

        Jeremy Leochner writes:
“Im no expert on communism but my best understanding is communism involves complete and total control of all aspects of the economy and society by the government”

Socialism is the complete and total control of all aspects of the economy and society by the government. You only need to use the magic of the internet to become more educated in these matters. Go to http://www.m-w.com for a convenient starting place with respect to communism and socialism.

      • Jeremy Leochner

With all due respect to Websters I feel I must disagree. I personally have been called a socialist numerous times and my own political ideology is social democrat. I personally know that I have never believed in or advocated for complete or even majority government control. I believe in regulation for the sake of balancing a free market system with some government to help prevent poor from overwhelming rich and rich from overwhelming poor. I have always read from economics that socialism is defined as a middle between communism and capitalism with some government control and some free enterprise.

      • Vicki

        Jeremy Leochner says:
“With all due respect to Websters I feel I must disagree.”

Makes it hard to have a discussion if we are not speaking the same language.

Jeremy Leochner says: “I personally have been called a socialist numerous times and my own political ideology is social democrat.”

        Ar these your principles?
        http://www.socialdemocratsusa.org/principles.shtml

Jeremy Leochner says: “I personally know that I have never believed in or advocated for complete or even majority government control.”

What, then, is the limit of government control?

Jeremy Leochner says: ” I believe in regulation for the sake of balancing a free market system with some government to help prevent poor from overwhelming rich and rich from overwhelming poor.”

That is what the laws of economics do. That is why whenever government meddles with supply/demand the economic system we call capitalism becomes unbalanced.

Jeremy Leochner says: “I have always read from economics that socialism is defined as a middle between communism and capitalism with some government control and some free enterprise.”

        From the definition at Websters.
“: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done ”

So you actually do agree with Websters.

      • Jeremy Leochner

I guess you got me with the language Vicki. You and I do speak the same language and I guess your right I do agree with Websters. As to the link you posted yes those are my personal ideologies. I dont know if I support social democratic parties from other countries but thats just my personal prefrence. As for the limit of government I think regulation is important to prevent fraud, tax evasion, falsified stock options or at least to create laws to prevent risky buisness investments. I think we need to have monitors to examine and inspect products before they go to market to help protect the consumers. And I think we need government as a source of support for programs like police, public education and health care. I dont believe in setting quotas for products to be produced or giving unions to much power or doing anything that would unreasonably or unnecessarily hurt private and free enterprise. The problem I have with the laws of economics in a capitalist system is the idea of competition. Though competition is desirable and important for a healthy economy to simply rely on the rules of competition leaves room for those with power and wealth to take advantage of and stomp on those with less power and less wealth. I just dont want competition to get too extreme and too powerful.

      • vicki

        Jeremy Leochner says:
“You and I do speak the same language and I guess your right I do agree with Websters. As to the link you posted yes those are my personal ideologies.”

Thanks. I will look at them again to better understand your positions. Mine should be easy. Libertarian platform is so close as to be 100% me :) But people probably guessed that. My guiding principle is one I have said here before. Your Creator gave you (and me :) ) 2 gifts. Life and Free Will. How we honor those gifts in ourselves and to others defines our character.

Jeremy Leochner: “As for the limit of government I think regulation is important to prevent fraud, tax evasion, falsified stock options or at least to create laws to prevent risky buisness investments. I think we need to have monitors to examine and inspect products before they go to market to help protect the consumers.”

Laws have been in place for MANY years to prevent fraud, tax evasion, false documents etc. No additional regulations are needed. ONE of the few things government could do is examine and inspect products before they go to market but government doesn’t stop there. Government refuses to allow products to market till the government has been bribed to allow the product to go. This is why regulation that prevents a free people from enjoying a free market only leads to graft and corruption of government officials.

Even if the government ONLY reported findings there would be huge incentives to pay off the government inspectors.

Jeremy Leochner: “And I think we need government as a source of support for programs like police, public education and health care.”

Police maybe. Our original system was Sheriff and deputies. That made the police what they should be. Us. Education no. To much incentive by government to control what is taught thus allowing them to brainwash the young. Health Care No. The right to seek out health care is to be protected. The duty to make health care happen for each citizen opens the door to government telling every citizen what they can eat and drink and what they are allowed to do. Opportunity for graft and corruption already demonstrated in the wavers for obamacare.

Jeremy Leochner: “I dont believe in setting quotas for products to be produced”

0(zero) products can be produced until you get government permission would be a quota. Thus you agree that all laws preventing the production of products are not acceptable to you.

Jeremy Leochner: “or giving unions to much power or doing anything that would unreasonably or unnecessarily hurt private and free enterprise.”

The only possible judge of unreasonable or unnecessary is the forces of the free market model of capitalism

Jeremy Leochner: “The problem I have with the laws of economics in a capitalist system is the idea of competition. Though competition is desirable and important for a healthy economy to simply rely on the rules of competition leaves room for those with power and wealth to take advantage of and stomp on those with less power and less wealth. I just dont want competition to get too extreme and too powerful.”

The ONLY power those with “power” have over their competitors is the power of government. Without government to force their product over the competition they can only be competitive by building a better mousetrap.

A good example of how this works is here

If Serious Materials had a better window they would not need government.

I have always dreamed of having the Library of Congress at my fingertips. All that knowledge. All those books and papers. A lifetime of reading and learning.

Now with the internet it is ours. http://www.loc.gov and so much more.

      • eddie47d

Every country on our planet has some form of Socialism including the USA. It is widely accepted and it helps countries get the job done. Communism is waning and few countries want anything to do with that form of government. So most countries can differentiate between Socialism vs. Communism. The Right is vigorously trying to blend them together so they can be labeled as one. I do not support the extremes of Communism or Capitalism or even the Right’s trying to pin Socialism on the Nazi’s. True Socialists were appalled at the rise of Hitler. Kind of like your distaste for crony Capitalism which makes Free Markets look bad. All sides have their bad players and they seem to get the attention.

      • Vicki

Communism, Socialism, and Capitalism are all economic philosophies.

One of them by its nature supports both individual and collective freedom.
One of them by its nature requires significant government power to work.
One of them by its very definition involves total government power.
Those last 2 are the ones that a free people must fight.

      • Michael J.

        eddie47d,
According to the designers, Marx and Engels, Socialism is just a stepping stone on the road to Communism.

I’ve said it here before. All this madness, this whole MESS can be stopped in its tracks by cutting off their blood supply..by dis-empowering the FED…we have to take their money powers or it will never end.

Just notice that as their movement grows in size & power so too does the money supply & the debt…not a coincidence.

  • LiarsMustBeDefeated

    You got it, Porter.

  • eddie47d

Doc Sarvis got it right at least in what he said. His opinion isn’t the only opinion and he left alot out just like some of you leave alot out. Is the government too big? Absolutely. Yet you all use government services just like Doc said. Be as independent as you want and you will still end up using government facilities and maybe every week. Whether a highway or a county road or a Rec Center/sports stadium. We all benefit from taxes and many times in our lives. We all think taxes are unfair because we don’t use a certain bridge yet another taxpayer does. Two blocks away a homeowner wanted to put in a new water line but they were in another county. The cost was to be $80,000 in the county they lived in(lower taxes). They then decided to go with our county (higher taxes)Well the cost was still $80,000 because they didn’t live in our county. At that time our cost for that same service would have been $12,000 because of all the tax money being pooled. That shared burdened kept the cost of the project quit low and services much more reasonable. In case anyone is wondering our taxes are only about $200.00 more that theirs per year.

Actually, religious is expression in a public place is perfectly acceptable as long as you are a muslim!

  • TIME

I have only one thing to say about Religions no matter what it may be that you feel / believe or claim to represent.

((The one & only thing you will be judged on )) is ” YOU’RE DEEDS”

Not what you believe nor if you go to church on Sunday / Saturday / any day. Nor who’s Bible is more Pure within thier noted Opinion stated or Implied.
Thats the facts rather any of you like it or not.

Thus – “How you treat others as well you’re actions” is the single and only thing that matters in GODS eyes, everything else is just so much extra rhetoric.

As you will find in a Marxist mind set there is NO GOD. Thus as a Marxist / Socialist / Communist there is no room for GOD.
Why? As there is only room for the “ULTRA WEALTHY to RULE” over its sheep. By this action alone they are “YOU’RE GODS.”

    • Vicki

      Time writes:

Agreed. First Principle. Your Creator gave you life and free will. How you honor those gifts in yourself and others is how you will be judged by YOUR Creator. This Moral Principle works even for those who created themselves.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        vicki,
don’t forget the Bible says not by acts alone but but by the son. Or very close to that.

      • Vicki

I didn’t. First Principle is a core element of the Christ spirit. You must know Christ. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – John 14:6

I worded First Principle to give anyone, regardless of religious belief, a moral compass since one of the most common attacks from The Alinsky playbook is to break down morals with illogical philosophical arguments. Easy to do if you have what seems to be conflicting morals.

Public apathy should be added to the mix. For far too long, the people have unquestionably allowed the government (State and Federal) to make changes and did nothing to signal their dislike or nonsupport of the newer, progressive ideals. It has only been in the past two years that the public has raised issues and let the government know of its displeasure in how this country is being operated by those elected officials now in power. While it may not be too late to return our path to its former place, we are certainly cutting it close. Let this be a lesson–when the politician gets too big for his/her britches, its time the constituents brought them down a peg or two. I’ve said it before and say it again: The general public needs to exercise their right to recall any and all wayward congressional members via their State laws. Do this with three or four and see how quickly others will bend to the demands of their constituents. The message for protecting and upholding the US Constitution should be loud and clear. As for the present administration, the people have the right to demand his ousting from holding office; they also have the right to demand he be held accountable for any corrupt act noted along with his cohorts.

There were protests in the early and late 60s. There was a contract with America in 1994. We have not been completely silent.

    WayneT,
Thank God for people like yourself. No doubt we have a lot of work
to do in the next two years and beyond. Americans, for some reason
have short memories. They know this, and if they tell a lie enough,
people will start believing them. Even if they lose, this time they won`t crawl back in their hole. There is to much going on in the world.

If people don`t know who Obamas advisors, friends, czars, political
groups are, I will be glad to furnish them for you. Just ask.

    • WayneT

Charles, I know, and a lot of us know this, but you would be surprised at how many people don’t listen to the news, talk shows, or read anything about this screwed up administration. They just don’t pay any attention. If they had, they would not have voted for Nobama in 2008. I don’t have a clue how to educate these folks as they do not express any interest. I told one person back before the last presidential election that I was not a McCain Fan, but I was going to vote for him as there was not any other choice. This person was very perturbed and told me off. I have lost my respect for her every since. I would never vote for Nobama as I knew well before the election what kind of person he was. So, how do you spread the word without making you friends, and acquaintance mad at you. I am aware of his association with the Mad Bomber, Bill Ayers, (the one who bombed government buidlings and Killed one or two people in the late 60′s early 70′s) his stupid paster Rev. Wright who blaphemed this country for years while Obama sit in his church for nearly 20 years. Oh yea, I know him and his cohorts very well, and I do not like what I know about him. He is not worthy to be our president. I want some one who I can trust, and respect. I do notd have that respect for Obama. My father always told me, quote, “Wayne, you are always known by the company you keep. When I see what kind of company that Nobama associated himself with, those words hit me like a ton of bricks.

      • eddie47d

Wayne; Bill Ayers did not kill anyone so maybe if you stop lying your old friends might listen to you. Present them with solid facts and you might be believed again. You make yourself arrogant and anyone that doesn’t agree with you needs to be slain.

      • WayneT

Bill Ayers was in some way responsible for a least one person dying in these bombings. I am not 100 perent of this, but I was thinking the person that died was a police officer. Hey! idiot DumboEddie47, go to this website and read it very well, then come back here, then tell us how you would support a man of Bill Ayers character. I too, was in law enforcement back in those days. Giving credence to Bill Ayers show the type of mentality your type has. You are of the same character, or you would not support a person that would kill innocent people.

Still no proof that he killed anyone only conjecture. Is that how policemen work in America. Guilty until proven innocent? Accusations are not guilt at least for now in our country.

“Accusations are not guilt at least for now in our country.”

        Too late.

        Civil forfeiture.
“The government also does not need to prove guilt. There is only some property which is considered to be an offense or associated with an offense, and the government just seizes it. Sometimes the police just keep it; usually, they sell it and keep the money. ”

        eddie,
If you research a little deeper, you will find that Ayers was guilty and confessed and got off on a technicality!!!

      • JeffH

WayneT…Had it not been for a Clinton Pardon, Ayers would still be in prison.

Code Pink and Bill Ayers went to Egypt and openly promoted uprising with the Muslim Brotherhood and openly supporting Hamas. The ‘Day of Rage’ as Friday has now been called in Egypt is what the Weathermen called their violent 1969 protest in Chicago. Coincidence?

President Barack Obama funder and Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans, accompanied by Obama’s Hyde Park friends and neighbors – the former Weather Underground terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn – organized an inside-outside game of political theater to bring pressure on the Mubarak regime to allow the aid for Hamas to be delivered though Egyptian checkpoints.

Being that they have common enemies–the United States, Israel, and governements allied with them–it is understandable that they would be allies. It must give them encouragement that President Obama has yet to disavow Jodie Evans and Code Pink, but instead continues to do business with them as Evans and Code Pink act as conduits between terrorists and Obama.

Bill Ayres was not CONVICTED of killing anyone. Subtle difference that people like to use OJ for.

Interesting that Bill himself says he did it.
“Ayers’ comment on his life, as reported by Peter Collier and David Horowitz in their authoritative chapter on Weatherman in Destructive Generation, was this: “Guilty as sin, free as a bird, America is a great country.” ”

Ayers’ comment not only applies to himself but it also applies to many that are guilty as sin and free as a bird.

Obama has to be the biggest wolf in sheep`s clothing I have ever seen.
He now claims himself a Christian. When did this all happen? It sure didn`t happen when he first become President and brought all his
Socialists, Communist and Marxist friends to Washington to help him run the goverment. You just don`t hang with people like this and call
yourself a Christian. A great number of people in this country will believe him. They forgot what came with him and are still with him.
Ever since his party lost the elections in Nov. 2010, he has lied about who he is and what he stands for in trying to get back the Independents who voted for him in the first place. I didn`t vote for
him, all though I am an Independent. I did my homework and knew what
he stood for. He scared me, when he he said, he wanted to transform
America and spread the wealth. Voters just were not paying attention
to what he was saying. Their hate for George W was so great it didn`t
matter to them. I hope America won`t be fooled again.

    • WayneT

Charles, this has happened because we are less than two years away before the next election. This the thing that most people are too ignorant to pick up on. I have heard him twice now, saying that he was a Muslim. It was a slip of the tongue on each occassion. If people don’t watch close enough they would never pick up on this. Thank God some one is watching. We need to get the word out before the next election to inform those who care about this country. We know a few on this forum certainly don’t care about the good old USA.

    • SiliconDoc

The republicans were on a hellbent spree against GWB, too. They claimed the “republicans” spent us into oblivion – and I do emphasize claim – as apparently the raging right failed to notice the Constitution as they whined and cried incessantly, and failed to notice the composition of Congress related to that as well.
      Now here goes round 2.
Republican house – well that’s it this time, but I have faith the raging right will blame the republicans for spending again, anyway, as the democrat 49 +55 percenters of Congress and the 95% of the commie red dem bureaucracy slam home the debt like never before.
I was so angry for the years I heard the republicans in UNISON shreik their leaders failed them, when they jack diddle control over the congressional purse, as is now also the case.
Perhaps a little Constitutional refresher for the idiots on the right would be in order, so that we don’t get another lying usurper who knows what America hater as potus…
60%, 67%, and 75% are the REQUIRED MAJORITIES IN THE CONGRESS TO CONTROL THE PURSE STRINGS.
Otherwise, the other party has a big say, to.
60% for filibuster breaking and setting the agenda
      67% for overruling a veto
75% for treaty mods and the other stuff that requires 3/4ths…

The republicans NEVER EVEN HAD 60% IN A SINGLE ONE OF THE HOUSES OF CONGRESS BUT THEY PRETENDED THEY RULED IT ALL AND BLEW IT ON EXCESSIVE SPENDING – THEY ALL SCREAMED ON EVERY THUG BLOG INCLUDING TOWNHALL…

I guess the idea that you are “in power” is so enticing, they couldn’t resist.
Suddenly all the Constitution thumpers became instant public education IDIOTS – as they slapped themselves in the face with falsehoods, over and over again, and ushered Obama to power.
Boy, was I mad as hell. I’m still mad. I did not think my favored republicans could be so God for saken ignorant like the liberals, but boy they sure did it…
Watch they’ll do it again, only not so much – it actually MIGHT sink in that they don’t even have a bare majority in the Senate –
When I saw the entire republican party and entire national spokespersons and blogs and everything else (save a few really hammered “jerks” like myself) go on their raging spree screaming they blew it, GWB blew it — my idea that the republicans had a clue – compard to the demorats was severly shaken, might as well say destroyed…
They weren’t speaking from understanding or knowledge, it was all PARROTTING just like the libtards.
      What a shame.
      This nation is SCREWED.

The Federal Government has over stepped it’s bounds. We need to get the Federal Government out of state govenments, city governments, and out of our personal lives. Let each state handle it’s own matters when it comes to their citizens. All the Federal Government should do is control issues between the states, have a military to protect it’s citizens from foreign adversaries, and a few others things that the Constitution gave ii the power to do. Monies from the Federal Government should never be accepted by the states, or municipalities. If the Federal Govenement can do this, than they are taxing us too much. Let each state, and municipality raise it’s own money to conduct it’s own business. This way the government would not have control over these other government entities. I remember one time while I was working for a city government back in the 1960′s, we had a speaker come in and gave a talk to the city fathers, and to the employees. His advise was to never accept money from the Federal Government, or they have will they will have conrol over you. There has never been turer words spoken. We can now see that this abounds today. We do need to get the Federal Government out of the lives of the citizens and let the states and municipalities handle local concerns. How would a Centralized Federal Government know more about local control then the people in the local districts. So therefore, Congress and President Nobama, get your nose out of the state and local government agencies. We were a lot better off when this was the case.

    • Vicki

      WayneT writes:
      “….have a military to protect it’s citizens from foreign adversaries,… ”

WE are the military. The Federal Government is tasked in the Constitution with providing us with the necessary arms and training to do that job.
“To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;”
      http://www.usconstitution.net/xconst_A1Sec8.html

WayneT: “Monies from the Federal Government should never be accepted by the states, or municipalities.”

Correct Tell our state and local governments to jsut say no to the bribes (sometimes called earmarks)

WayneT: “His advise was to never accept money from the Federal Government, or they have will they will have control over you.”

Since all those earmarks have strings attached the speaker was quite right. Just think about the 55mph mandatory speed limit. The FedGov knew they could not force the states so they bribed them to comply.

  • iowaheretic

The first comment on this article say’s they want to turn this nation into a “non-christian communist nation”. You are going to keep losing if you keep up that stupid idea! No one is trying to keep anyone from worshipping thier imaginary “god”. “God” can be used to push ANY idea or agenda. In fact, religion isn’t really much different than communism or socialism. If you would look at all of it with an open mind you would see this. One side is just as bad as the other. The only party that talk about freedom and real human rights is the Libertarian Party. Also, the Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights. If these people were running this country we would have an America the way it was supposed to be, maybe a paradise on earth! But then, who is going to stop it everytime, people that can’t stand to see someone else living and enjoying life without THIER permission. Christians and socialists!

    • Anti Government

      iowa,
I agree that this is a secular nation based on system of laws. We are supposed to have the rights to worship but a lot of these people want to use religion to demonize others using the premise that they are being discriminated against because the government is not to establish a religion. I think it is preposterous that people say they can’t pray in public areas, this is totally false. I can pray anywhere and no one can stop me. I should not have the right to make you pray.

      • Bruce D.

Not so! A few people tried to pray in front of the Supreme Court a few months back and were told they could not do that. It also has been a big issue in schools. I am surprised you have not heard of that. Libertarians seem to be trying to get people into their party by insulting them. Not going to work. If people do not want to join the Libertarian Party voluntarily all the insults in the world of being stupid and what amounts to religious morons are not going to get them to join.

      • Bruce D.

I stand corrected. The issue of pray in school has been resolved. These types of cases are won on freedom of speech and not freedom of religion.
        Prayer During Non-instructional Time
Students may pray when not engaged in school activities or instruction, subject to the same rules designed to prevent material disruption of the educational program that are applied to other privately initiated expressive activities. Among other things, students may read their Bibles or other scriptures, say grace before meals, and pray or study religious materials with fellow students during recess, the lunch hour, or other non-instructional time to the same extent that they may engage in nonreligious activities. While school authorities may impose rules of order and pedagogical restrictions on student activities, they may not discriminate against student prayer or religious speech in applying such rules and restrictions.”

      • Anti Government

        Bruce,
It was based on the law as follows:

It is unlawful to parade, stand, or move in processions or assemblages in the Supreme Court Building or grounds, or to display in the Building and grounds a flag, banner, or device designed or adapted to bring into public notice a party, organization, or movement.

If we are to allow the Christian prayer outside the Supreme Court then we would also need to allow Muslim, Hindu, or even Satanic prayers. I myself believe that all religions should have that right if for nothing more than to have the right to assemble. The law that these Christians were asked to stop praying is probably unconstitutional and will with all probability be overturned.

      • Bruce D.

        Okay fair enough Anti.

        Bruce,
Anybody, who has read most of your comments, knows who the real insulter is in your case.

      • DaveH

Case in point, Bruce’s comment that “Libertarians seem to be trying to get people into their party by insulting them”.
For those who don’t know, Bruce, like his Liberal opposites, tries to get back at me (a Libertarian) by insulting all Libertarians because he has a hard-on for me.
It would be like me saying that all Right-Wingers are no-good because I think Bruce is no-good.

      • Bruce D.

Dave it is difficult for you to rebut anyone without using the term ignorant or the equivalent thereof. You become offended with even the least disagreement. Also you post like your desperate for membership.

Vicki–Okay, you think America is a totally communistic republic now–so what do you think we should do? Vote for different people? Did that. Multiple times. Nice quiet civil protests.

Claire: “Shall we riot like Egypt and other countries do? I am all for it if that is the route you want to take.”

Are you a liberal? I notice that liberals seem to be very interested in violence rather than civil protests and civil disobedience. I am making the dangerous assumption that you know the meaning of civil.

Regrettably I only get one link per post and I used it already so you will have to look for the examples of non-violent and violent protests.

      • DaveH

For those who don’t know just how sick he is, and since he loves to quote me, here is a direct quote from one of his posts on another board:

      • Bruce D.

Is that the best you could come up with Dave. I stand by that quote Dave and that would apply to you also.

Vicki– Am I a Liberal? Not hardly. But if I were, would that give you the right to treat me like garbage and talk to me like you do to the other Liberals on this site? One of these days, you may bite off more than you can chew. Am I a Republican? No, probably never again. You infer that only Liberals want rioting– I see/hear members from both sides of the two-party system that seem to glorify war. I assumed that since you think America is totally communistic now that you would want to do something about it. Hence, the rioting. Vote for other people? Do you really think they will make a difference now at this point in time? You are making the “dangerous” assumption that I am civil? Do not patronize me–because I am making the dangerous assumption that you may be civil.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Vicki,
If posts mean anything to you, I can assure you by her posts, that Claire is definately NOT a liberal! Seems lately that a lot of people here are falling for a really old trick. To keep people from coming up with a good cure for problems, keep them at each others throats so they ignore the real problem. I know, I fall for it from time to time myself. Keep it real.

      • Vicki

        Claire says:
“Vicki– Am I a Liberal? Not hardly. But if I were, would that give you the right to treat me like garbage and talk to me like you do to the other Liberals on this site?”

I do not see that I treat liberals badly. I do not attack them. I point out the error of their thinking with cites to back it up. Even when they attack me instead of my points I only point out the obvious to them.

Claire says: “One of these days, you may bite off more than you can chew.”

Not very likely for my beliefs and opinions are well grounded in actual facts. Which I provide. Often.

Clare says: “You infer that only Liberals want rioting– I see/hear members from both sides of the two-party system that seem to glorify war.”

I don’t see it. I see liberals suggesting rioting or revolution. I see agent provocateurs trying to sound conservative and trying to foment revolution. I counter both as often as I can.

Here is a little comparison between protest groups.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXbeq6Rt6Z0&feature=related

Michelle Milkin already gave a long list of hate speech by liberals. I already used my one link above so someone else can look it up.

Clare says: “I assumed that since you think America is totally communistic now that you would want to do something about it. Hence, the rioting.”

You proposed rioting. I don’t. I propose using CIVIL protests.

Clare says: “Vote for other people? Do you really think they will make a difference now at this point in time?”

Of course they will. That is why DaveH and I and others keep mentioning the alternative to the 2 parties.

Clare says: “You are making the “dangerous” assumption that I am civil?”

Go back and RE READ what I said. Other than suggesting rioting (twice now) you are one of the more civil posters on this list.

Clare says: “Do not patronize me–because I am making the dangerous assumption that you may be civil.”

My words here and my actions in RL clearly show me to be civil. :)

She brought up rioting and even said that she was all for rioting. Rioting is a typical act of liberals. I asked based on her post so obviously posts do mean things to me :)

      • http://deleted Claire

        Vicki:
“I do not see that I treat liberals badly.” The sarcasm in your words speak louder than you may think, especially if you disagree with people. At least you do not go in for name-calling, I give you that.
Post all the links you want, a person can always find a link that they “agree with.” There are left-wing and right-wing links, depends on which one you want to read.
Michelle Malkin–You may listen to her all you want, I prefer unbiased reporting. So-called journalists, radio talk show hosts are not my idols.
“You proposed rioting.” I do not promote rioting, but if patriotic Americans take to the streets and do such to combat communism, etc., what would you do? What if your best friends/relatives participate, will you join or stand idly by? You have already implied that communism has taken over, but then your post at 4:47 p.m. says ” I wouldn’t worry overmuch about communism…” So which is it?
I appreciate an alternative to the two parties, I have posted this many times.
If people are trying to promote/stand by their party of choice, sometimes it is better to reason with people, and not lord it over them. A person can sometimes achieve more with honey than vinegar. I should remember this myself, but then again I do not promote a party.
This blog is a war of words at times, you are a debater, good for you. It is not a matter of winning debates on this site, it is a discussion of solutions to the problems at hand, and the article posted above.
I am not always “right” (no pun intended), but at least I have the backbone to admit it. So we are at an impasse, no further discussion warranted.

      • http://deleted Claire

JoeH– Thank you for your post, it was not my intent to drag you into this “war of words.”

      • libertytrain

Claire – I think you are correct. And I do agree, it is the easiest of all things to find a link that will agree with whatever I deem to say. And I see no point in attempting to one-up people on the same “side” if they do not agree verbatim with all that I choose to “school” them in – I do not expect to ever see peace on earth, how could there be, when those on the same side, whichever side, still have to try and one-up those on that same side. It’s ridiculous and pointless. It is certainly not the sign of a good leader, it’s the sign of a dictator.

      • http://deleted Claire

libertytrain: Thank you, you make your point quite well.

      • Vicki

        Claire says:
“Post all the links you want, a person can always find a link that they “agree with.” There are left-wing and right-wing links, depends on which one you want to read.”

The links I post are to offer evidence of my assertions. It is a common and proper means of debate.

Claire says: “Michelle Malkin–You may listen to her all you want, I prefer unbiased reporting. So-called journalists, radio talk show hosts are not my idols.”

Are you saying that someone who shows proof of hate speech and provides a long list with those proofs and who, like all humans, is biased is not a valid source of facts?

Claire says: “ Vicki: You proposed rioting.” I do not promote rioting,”

Then why did you bring it up? Multiple times.

Claire says: “but if patriotic Americans take to the streets and do such to combat communism, etc., what would you do? What if your best friends/relatives participate, will you join or stand idly by?”

Since you have conveniently altered the terms I can not answer until you properly define “take to the streets”. You could mean rioting or civil protest. You have (intentionally?) made it ambiguous.

Claire says: “You have already implied that communism has taken over, but then your post at 4:47 p.m. says ” I wouldn’t worry overmuch about communism…” So which is it?”

Communism is an economic philosophy (which you conveniently left out of your quote of me). Totalitarian government is the threat. To enforce communism on a populace will require a totalitarian government. I offer as proof all the “communist” countries that have ever been.

Claire says: “So we are at an impasse, no further discussion warranted.”

Ok. As to “debate wins” I use that to remind liberals to cease and desist ad hominem et all attacks.

Bruce D. I said it is a stupid idea that some people think that communists are trying to take “God” out of America altogether. I don’t think anyone was ever trying to do that, but I do know that there are certain far right wing groups that are trying to force “God and Biblical Law onto EVERYONE! There are plenty of christians in the Libertarian Party, but they don’t try to force thier particular religion onto everyone else. Libertarians stand for free and individual choice.

      • Bruce D.

That would have been a better way to say it and I would not have challenged your viewpoint. You went a lot farther than that and I challenged your viewpoint not only because you were being extremely rude but also because Christians have been fighting hard in defense of the Bill of Rights so I consider them allies.

    • Demoncrat Exorist

America was founded by Christians whose goal was to allow everyone the right to worship or not worship as they see fit. Without the Christians that you aborr, America would never have had the Constitution in the first place.

The First Amendment actually states that the Government cannot force a religion on the people. It does not give government the right to demand that Christians remove crossed from public cemeteries any more than it grants government the right to force atheism on the people.

By the same token, government does not have the right to tell citizens that they can not pray to Christ on public property then turn around and rule that Muslims can –as happened in Indiana.
Christianity is under attack and so is the Constitution. Our rights as citizens are disappearing, and it’s because of politicians gone mad.

Christians have just as much right to criticize your lack of religion as you do to criticize theirs. It’s people like you, (that want to see others loose their rights), who support the current big brother government. It’s sad that you don’t have enough intelligence to know that you will loose your rights too!

      • Vicki

They completely fail to understand that their ox is next in line to be gored.

  • Bruce D.

Government claims the right to regulate our freedoms which means we do not have freedoms. We have privileges. A son may be able to drive his father’s car but first he must ask and the father may want him home at a particular time or restrict the places he may go. He is only free to drive the car with the father’s permission and the agreement to follow the guidelines the father set down for him.
Also there should only be a one time sales tax on your house or property whatever that may be. You do not own your property if the government can tax you out of it which happens to retirees.
The income tax is a communist tax with a penalty for working and drives businesses out of the country. It also allows for a police force which amounts to Nazi’s and Obama wants them to enforce Obamacare. Proper taxes would be alcohol and tobacco, sales tax, import duties, toll roads, user fees, and voluntary taxes such as the lottery. If individuals want corporations there should be a reasonable corporate tax for that privilege that will not drive business out of the country.

Quite true which is why I keep reminding people that Government has NO RIGHTS. Only a few limited powers clearly listed in the Constitution. We are NOT ALLOWED to give some powers to the government even if a majority wanted to.

That the progressive types did and we endure is why the government has become the fearful MASTER that George Washington warned us about.

“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

I fear we have lost our America, because we may well be out numbered by the liberal, communists, progressives, or whatever you would like call them.

Go ahead and stand up for what we used to believe in, and you will be labeled a terrorist, or enemy of the state, and jailed. Go ahead and try to organize a revolt. Obama has many FEMA camps waiting for you as well and UN troups.

    • eddie47d

spitfire; You drank from the cup of insanity a long time ago. You’ve played the FEMA card too many times and that UN takeover has been spread by John Birchers 60 years ago. Try something more reliable!

That is why our founders did NOT want a democracy. They created a Constitutionally LIMITED Republic to try and stop the “Tyranny of the Majority”

      • http://?? Joe H.

        vicki,
the only problem with that is they have over corrected till we have the rule of the minority!!

      • Vicki

I am not sure who this “they” is but all we have to do is return to a Constitutionally limited Republic. Tyranny by a minority is an oligarchy. If we actually honored the limitations in the Constitution we would be free to make our own way in the world.

      • eddie47d

Yes we have a Republic although it has become controlled and run by the elites. Which means a small minority (1-2%) has the advantage over everyone else. (That includes Democrats,Republicans,Corporations and a few other assorted Capitalists). If that is all a Republic can offer then I choose a Democracy. Who says you or anyone else won’t cut off my right to vote or be able to make a political decision. There are a few in this country who want to do just that. Tom Tancredo has advocated for selective voting.

      • Vicki

        Eddie47D writes:
“Yes we have a Republic although it has become controlled and run by the elites.”

We HAD a Constitutionally LIMITED Republic. Since the representatives we have do not bother with those limits or the LAW the current form is more of an oligarchy as you say.

Eddie47D: “If that is all a Republic can offer then I choose a Democracy. Who says you or anyone else won’t cut off my right to vote or be able to make a political decision.”

And you would choose a Democracy? Where just 50.1% of the people could take away all of your rights? Why?

You probably should actually watch that video you keep counting and think about what it is describing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4r0VUybeXY

Here is another little poem I copied that shows how far we have slipped as a society.

    New Pledge of Allegiance
    (TOTALLY AWESOME)!

    Since the Pledge of Allegiance
    and The Lord’s Prayer
    Are not allowed in most
    Public schools anymore

Because the word ‘God’ is mentioned…..
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached
    NEW School prayer:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites, Isn’t it amazing the Muzzies can
It violates the Bill of Rights. get away with this but we cannot
And anytime my head I bow
    Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
    That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the state.

We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks…
They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s ‘inappropriate’ to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such ‘judgments’ do not belong…

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles..
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
    Amen

  • Michael J.

Communism is the adopted child of Roth and is behind what we see today in Egypt and other middle eastern countries whose people now fill the streets in protest of their ruling dictators.

The one dirty little secret about the difference between Democratic Republics and Dictatorships is something that most people won’t want to hear, but here goes anyhow. The shadowy elites realized a long time ago that democraticaly elected temporary representatives of a people can be monetarily incentivised and readily convinced of the benefits to be gained in a centralized one world government. Evidence of this can be gleaned from the Bilderberg membership roster which contains few Dictators. Most Dictatorship’s on the other hand, feel they are sole proprietors of the land, natural resources and the people of which they possess. As a result, dictators are infinetly harder to incentivise than their democratically elected counter parts. Until now the Elite’s have not figured a way to convince Dictators to relingquish sovereignty of the land, it’s rich’s and it’s people.

“Where there’s a will, there’s a way” and the shadowy elite will have their way. Since they can’t buy a Dictator, they instead have schemed to undermine them. In recent years and with the support of organizations such as Hamas and others, familiar faces and names have infiltrated the minds of peoples whose countries are now inflamed with protest in the Middle East. The tactics employed are also familiar, convince the oppressed to rise up in revolution and assure them that freedom and prosperity will be their reward, which is made all the more easy when the people actually are oppressed and downtrodden. But if and when the revolution is sucessful and democratically elected representatives are sworn in, the peoples dreams of freedom and prosperity will never be realized because the shadowy elite’s now have someone they can work with, Democratically elected representatives who can now be monetarily incentivised and concvinced to turn over sovereignty to a one world government in a way not possible with the Dictators they replaced.

So am I saying keep the Dictators? Of course not! But the shadowy elites are aware of the utility potentials of elected representatives, and so should we be.

For those who have not yet made the connection between the Bilderberg Elite’s and Communism, Few people have made the connection more eloquently than Gary Allen:

“If one understands that socialism is not a share-the-wealth programme, but is in reality a method to consolidate and control the wealth, then the seeming paradox of super-rich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all. Instead, it becomes logical, even the perfect tool of power-seeking megalomaniacs.

Communism or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite.”
    Gary Allen, Author

    • Anti Government

      Michael,
Good insight. It is the money that is running world and elected officials are easy to for the elite to buy off, just look at our country most of our officials have been bought off and are working for the corporate elite.

Americans RELY on MANY services provided by all levels of government. I don’t see how we could have roads, snow removal (how ’bout it Boston), food safty, product safty, national defense, decent schools for all, local law enforcment, emergency services, clean air, clean water, aid to the poor, safe cars, and so much more without taxes.

    • Doc Sarvis

Oh yeah, and that does not make America a communist nation. We just have some national and social programs as every quality country does.

      • Lastmanstanding

Doc. REAL AMERICANS do not need the federal govt. for any of this, only the weak need govt. assistance. (I call them socialists or communists.) If everyone competed for things ( like alot of us do everyday) you would see that the world would be much better off.

You have a right to your opinion, however speak for yourself. I have no simpathy for lazy, unmotivated people who feel sorry for themselves. Oh, whoa is me, I don’t have the same opportunities, those greedy rich people, etc. Those people are being used to keep the progressives in power. If the progs succeed , these people will be no longer of use to them since they are not productive. Since all of this has documented over thousands of year, I’ll spare you the history lesson. Only problem (for the progs) is there are those of us that will not relent. We are far stronger and determined to keep our way of life.

“Give me liberty or give me death.” I stand firm and unafraid.

God Bless our troops, our country and those who feel as I do.

      • Doc Sarvis

Okay, so you have not benefitted from the hundreds of thousands of fighting men and women who have defended our country, you have never driven your safe vehicle on a government built and maintained road, you only went to private school, you grow all of your own food, you breath clean air from somewhere else, you drink clean water from rainwater you gather, etc. If you say no to any of those phrases then, by your definition, you are among us weaklings.

      • Lastmanstanding

Doc. What I’m saying is that the private sector can do all of this cheaper and more efficiently the the federal govt. Everyone needs to get off their butt, go to work, and be thankful for what our military has fought and died for. We are now learning that all of this (govt. b.s.) IS NOT WORKING…It is time for people to work together to rebuild our country. It is time for those that drain our society of it’s life to step up.

Sounds like you don’t get how the planet works. The earth takes care of itself in a violent manner. It’s called survival of the fittest. I will be culled in my own time. Don’t think for one minute that you and I are alike.

Sounds like you want to throw out the constitution.

      • DaveH

There will always be taxes and especially property taxes so how does Mr Stansberry think society (you and me)should collect from those who are delinquent? Should we just let them slide and give these homeowners a free ride? Mr Stansberry didn’t offer any solutions to his own comments only how bad communism is. He spouts that everything is bad and the only relief is to hate government. Public schools are far from perfect yet these schools that you all loath gives everyone an equal opportunity to advance in life. You seem to want to abolish these schools because they don’t teach exactly what you want. Which means you want to discriminate which will force millions of kids to stay at home and not receive any education. You all say you don’t want to pay taxes for others so what else should we concur from your rancor? When the Federal Government wasn’t involved local schools kept certain kids out. So can we trust these locals to involve everyone? If we can then that would be the best argument to do away with the Department of Education. Stansberry went after farm subsidies and I’m sure a few are on the receiving end of welfare payments. I’m not always in favor of these subsidies yet they were set up to help the farmers in bad times. America has lost many family farms and not because of government. It has been mega corporations like Monsanto who have took over,Now we have GMOs and a less healthy food supply. So maybe these private monopoly corporations are the real communists for they do steal farms.

      • Vicki

        Doc Sarvis says:

Benefited? Yes. Need No. WE are the fighting men and women. Our vehicles are safe because we refuse to buy unsafe ones. We drive on roads maintained by the government cause they are in the way and our vehicles don’t fly. We breath clean air all around us. We Don’t live in basins that catch air and let dust particles build up. We drink clean water from rainwater like everyone else. We don’t need to collect it ourselves. Some nice entrepreneurs made these cool things called pipes to move the water to where we are. Other entrepreneurs made cute little containers for us to carry some water with us. I think one of them is called a “canteen”. Another is “water bottle”. I have noticed lots of government interference in the businesses that bring us water by pipes. But we do not need government for any of these things.

Actually we do “need” the government for many things. When it comes to water projects much is built and maintained by local,State or the Federal Government. The government also provides financing for private water projects. Somethings can’t get done without money to back it up whether private or government. So that pipe maker probably has a connection somewhere to a government office.

      • Vicki

        eddie47d says:
“Actually we do “need” the government for many things.”

Actually only some things. The Declaration of Independence lists them.
The Constitution provides the SHORT list of specifics.

When it comes to water projects much is built and maintained by local,State or the Federal Government.

Eddie47D: “Somethings can’t get done without money to back it up whether private or government.”

That they can’t get done does not mean they should get done. If there is a demand then they WILL get done. Government not required.

Eddie47D: “So that pipe maker probably has a connection somewhere to a government office.”

        Crony Capitalism.

      Doc Sarvis,
Progressive Income Tax doesn’t pay a dime towards any of the services you mentioned. It instead pays interest to the Fedral Reserve on national debt.

      • Carlucci

Exactly. Duty, import, and excise taxes pay for infrastructure, like building roads. About a dollar of those taxes upon purchase of a tank of gas goes toward infrastructure. The income tax is as you describe, and is also used to control people. The IRS is the collection agency for the “Federal” Reserve, which is no more “federal” than Federal Express.

      • Michael J.

        Carlucci,
Yes, control people. Just as important as the extorted tax dollars, is the accumulated record of when, where and how we spend our earnings.

      • BillboTex

Yes Carlucci, The only weapon we may have left, is another tax revolt. Give the Fed government a straight 10%, and then allow them to spend no more that waht they have. Allow no law to be passed unless it applies to ALL federal employees.

If only 10% pf the population followed this revolt, they would be unable to attack anyone!

Food safety and clean water? Haaaaaaaaapahhhahhah. You need to do some research, talk to some doctors and scientist before you proclaim the wonders of socialism and use our food and water as an example, or education for that matter.

      • Doc Sarvis

I did not say our food and water is perfectly safe or that our public schools are perfect. I am saying that if there were no regulation of food, water, air, workplace safty, and no public schools our society would be primitive.

      • Vicki

Or far more advanced cause government was out of the way.

      • Mike In MI

        Doc Sarvis -
You don’t know that and can’t prove it. This country was humming along extremely nicely in its development for a long time, living, meeting its problems, figuring out the options available and giving anybody who wanted to figureout and develop somethng new and better to deal with that need, a chance to do it. Today the inventors and idea people go elsewhere to try their ideas where the government won’t squash the thing they’re formulating before it ever gets started (or steal it and give it to government’s friends). Vested interests rule the nation and stomp true inventiveness, revelation and entrepreneurialism like a bug. They do it with the schools, taxes, regulations, biased laws, mandates, hiring quotas, head taxes and subsidies and on and on ad infinitum. All that stuff you think i so necessary and wonderful.
Well, have you ever tried thinking about what happens to nations which expend big efforts beating its problem solvers in the solar plexus? Russia? Cuba? Mexico? N. Korea? Zimbabwe (Rhodesia)? Somalia?
Congo? Haiti? Strong centralized governments all – and I could go on and on.
That’s what you favor and where you want things to go for us. Well, just because things have gone a certain way for a while during your lifetime, don’t think for a second that they can’t or won’t change – fast, furious, violent and dreadful – if certain factions get their way. But, you just keep supporting them and their efforts. They’re your kinda’ folks.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Mike in Mi,
doc should see some of the conditions around Baldwin and that area in the winter when most of the tourest money is gone!! If it wasn’t for places like Newago winter park there wouldn’t be any employment if you don’t cook or serve food!!

      • BillboTex

So Doc, where has all this Federal regulation gotten us so far? Food is more safe, no I am a real doctor and food is more dangerous that it has EVER been — product “safty”, do you let your children play with the flood of toys from China? — National defense, what about the twin towers in NY (has that ever happened before?)— decent schools for all, and adults spell safety “safty” did you ever see head lice by the 12th grade (I never did, nor saw school massacres either) — local law enforcement, ask any police officer he feels about our current “safety” levels — emergency services, the current advice is don’t go to emergency rooms (8 hour waits), or hospitals unless absolutely necessary (you may end up with more serious health deficits that you went in with) — clean air, don’t discuss it with anyone who has ever visited LA — aid to the poor, are you talking about the fact that homeless are allowed to wash themselves from bathroom sinks in library bathrooms in front of our kids? — safe cars, what are all these hundreds of thousands of “recalls” I read about every year?

No Doc, you are wrong in EVERY case. The liberal hijacking of our American society has taken us in a more primitive state, that we had even 20 years ago. We conservatives have trusted government to protect the people, and they have failed miserably. We fell asleep at the wheel, but I am seeing some evidence that we are waking up – if we don’t wake up I promise you that the liberal direction can and will take us much lower.

      • libertytrain

Well said – scary, but well said.

    • DaveH

      Doc,
Every one of those items you listed could be done better and more politely by people who are subject to the Free Market.
Roads can and are built by the private sector (witness toll roads, for example). The same for snow removal.
Food safety can be determined by private organizations for those who are concerned. And the Free Markets and/or Courts take care of those who negligently sell contaminated foods. If a Branded company, say General Mills for instance, were to sell contaminated foods in any of their lines, their entire company would be at risk from personal consumer boycotts. And we could subscribe to services which would keep us alerted where to buy the best, safest foods if we are concerned. And you can bet those services would be a lot more prone to protecting us consumers since their jobs weren’t guaranteed. Right now you could see, if you bothered reading any of the health food sites such as HealthFreedomUSA, where the Governments allegiances are (Big Pharma, Big Agra, etc.).
The same is true for product safety or quality.
Schools can and should be chosen by the parents only. Anybody, who doesn’t have a vested interest in Big Government, can figure that government run schools have a very big incentive to propagandize the children in their favor. Private schools would please the parents or lose their business. I trust the parents to care for their kids’ welfare a lot more than I trust Government officials who have nothing to lose if they are wrong.
Even many of the protective services are now provided by private firms because the Government for one reason or another isn’t providing adequate protection. And the private firms would have a lot more trouble abusing their power than does Government which has assumed the power of unaccountable force (witness the Nazi-like, often to the wrong house, drug raids across the country).
Clean water can be and is largely a private service these days because Government has assumed the right to put their own pet chemicals in our water (flouride, etc.) whether we like it or not. So, if we want to avoid that, we buy our water at the supermarket.
There would be plenty of efficient charities to offer assistance to those truly misfortunate people if Big Government wasn’t impoverishing our nation. And they would be voluntary. There would be no holier-than-thou Liberals determining who should be getting our charitable dollars.
As with food and other items, the Free Market can be very harsh to those automobile manufacturers who don’t please their customers (safety and other concerns).
All of those above things would be done politely rather than the impolite treatment that most of us have endured at the hands of Government officials with very secure jobs.

      • DaveH

Can be done but are not done by non government entities. And if governement did not, for instance, standardize, regulate, and maintain roads our transportation system would be so haphazard (sp?) it would be ineffective. If government did not have water quality standards industry would have no reason to regulate itself and most if not all of us would be drinking poison. The list goes on and on.

      • michelleo

what has the govenrment EVER DONE RIGHT????

      • DaveH

I just told you, Doc, they have been done. Toll roads, Rating agencies (Consumer Reports for instance), private security firms (Cutty, Brinks, Blackwater, ADT, etc.).
Is that all you can muster, Doc? Could be, would be. Any Liberal can predict the future (at least in his/her mind).

      • Doc Sarvis

Those do work since there are standards, overseen by governments, that keep them in societal bounds.

      • DaveH

And I could go on and on and on and on and on. All quite effective. Some more effective so you hear less about the older designs. All driven by FREE Market forces. Some driven by government wanting to buy a particular feature. Even Microsoft had to bend to the power of consumers demand.

Doc Sarvis: “If government did not have water quality standards industry would have no reason to regulate itself and most if not all of us would be drinking poison.”

Have you ever run a business selling consumables doc? If so you would KNOW without asking that your assertion is prima facie false.

To sell a product, especially one that requires your customer be alive to come back for more, you have to keep them alive. Killing them would be VERY BAD for business. (I’m waiting for someone to argue drugs:) )

Doc writes: “The list goes on and on.”

Between the several conservatives on this list I bet we can demonstrate the falseness of your entire list. To be kind to the readers please only bring one or 2 at a time :)

      • Doc Sarvis

        Vicki,
Where did I ever deny that there is value and worth to private enterprise? I am simply stating that there are appropriate roles for government in situations where safty/health standards will benefit workers, consumers, drivers, etc. You failed to address the example I provided, roads. You can tease out small portions of my posts and divert the topic but it does nothing to argue against my points. Good luck next time.

      • Vicki

And I countered all of your arguments. The Constitution with its VERY SHORT list of duties is all the Federal Government needs to do. State governments get some more powers and they to are restrained by the Bill of Rights in what powers We the People can give them.

You made many claims about the need for government interference. I demonstrated the fallacy of your arguments. Got some more for me to chew up?

      • Vicki

Oh and I explicitly addressed your “roads”. Go back and re read it.

      • Barney Murrell

To Vicki and others who support her,

First, all the standards you mentioned are implemented within overall standards set by the FCC.

Second, before the government instituted the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 – that was signed by Republican President Theodore Roosevelt – business persons had no problem selling products that were either worthless, made people sick, or killed some; which was why the act was passed in the first place.

Third, if you – and the other foolish people on this site – really want the concepts you espouse implemented in America then you better get used to living in a 3rd world country, ranging from the chaos of Somalia to drug-gang infested countries like Mexico and Columbia; and a mini-police state like Peru where a few plutocrats control everything and all others are extremely poor and kept in line by an extremely brutal criminal justice(??) system.

      • Mike In MI

        Sarvis -
Don’t pat yourself on the back too fast or hard. There’s a think tank organization here in Michigan called the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. It was started by Mr. Larry Reed, though he has since moved on.
For decades The have been proposing and elucidating how Michigan could have benefitted from nongovernmental organizations and the private sector could do a much better job, cheaper than government in a whole host of capacities. The unions, bureaucraps and Democruds have fought them (successfully) right down the line.
About eleven years ago Michigan headed down the slippery slide into the economic obscurity of a democratically generated black-hole. It’s so deep and dark and hard to see a way out because the socialists all expected life would always be the way it was in the 1960′s when Michigan was like Valhalla. See, Michigan was always ahead of most other states in its progressivism and nannyisms. Well, now we’re suckin’ hind tit ’cause we gave our money and trust to Lansing. Yippee, they found a near and dear rat-hole to drain the state’s riches into. So, now Michigan is near the bottom of everybody’s list of worthwhile places to live.
If you want to know where the projetions of Karl Marx, Engels and other similar social planners leads come to Michigan.

        Bring money.

      • Vicki

        Barney Murrell says:
“First, all the standards you mentioned are implemented within overall standards set by the FCC.”

        Proof by bald assertion.

None of the standards in my list are under any part of the powers of the FCC. Feel free to give an example. I will be happy to knock it down.

Barney Murrell: “Second, before the government instituted the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 – that was signed by Republican President Theodore Roosevelt – business persons had no problem selling products that were either worthless,”

        Obviously not. People bought them.

Barney Murrell: “made people sick, or killed some;”

Obviously not. People talk. There would have been lawsuits.

Third, if you – and the other foolish people on this site…”

Oops. Ad Hominem attack. Debate win to me.

Barney Murrell: “… really want the concepts you espouse implemented in America then you better get used to living in a 3rd world country, ranging from the chaos of Somalia to drug-gang infested countries like Mexico and Columbia; and a mini-police state like Peru where a few plutocrats control everything and all others are extremely poor and kept in line by an extremely brutal criminal justice(??) system.”

Since all of your examples are either anarchy or oligarchy and we propose concepts of limited government I assert that your statement is false.

A short lesson in what it is that I (and supporters) want.

        Vicki-
I love your beautiful head and logic, girl. Keep giving the unethical and outright crooked bastards a taste of sense and reality. It’ll probably never sink in because they all need to have an adult bread winner to steal from via the guise of “legal” government. The eddies and Barneys and Sarvises are all slaves to figuring out a way to filch someting from somebody elses pantry – and say the profit makers are “hoarders” or some such similar epithet from leftist propagandists.
Somehow they never seem to get the reality that in order for government to have any money to give to legitimate governmental concerns there MUST be somebody to take it from who makes a profit and generates WEALTH and not just print counterfeit Obama-notes.
The reason they can’t figure this stuff out is that the only one who really owns everything is God. He’s the one who works below the level of the senses to reward those who try to do things His way and so wealth generation (that lasts) happens and benefits the most people the most equitably.
But, they despise God. So, they want it done in a way He says He won’t honor or support with His help. If He won’t support it, at some point men’s systems all run out of steam, run down and then corrode and are eventually abandoned. One proof that there is a Devil is that the foolshness and destructive systems keep coming back under different names, “leaders” and guises – century after century, culture after culture, eon after eon – and nobody figures it out because they are blinded and greedy.

      • eddie47d

I don’t know where you think you got a “win”,hardly. Not all people sue or file a lawsuit especially back then. People do buy unsafe products without knowing it and even today. Return policies probably weren’t even in place back then or expiration dates. I don’t care if government or private companies have safety regulations on products. They are needed and should remain in place. NO backsliding on health and safety in our nation!

      • kate8

eddie – Health and safety? Have you been paying attention to what Congress is doing to insure that we have access to NOTHING of any health-enhancing value?

    • Alexander Smith

And here we see the problem, everyone thinks that someone should provide for our safety. NOT TRUE, the only person responsible for your safety is you. Economics 101, if it is important, then someone will be willing to pay for it. If enough people are willing to pay for it, someone will provide it for a price (including snow removal, education, etc). The only ‘safety net’ that we should rely on is our friends and our families, not some stranger (government) who can tell us how to live (or not live) our lives. Taxes, if they exist, should be a form of direct payment for services. I should not be forced to pay for someone-elses healthcare (or food, or education, or …). Redistribution of wealth, from the haves to the havenots is a form of socialism. Communism is the worst form of socialism as the government has complete control on everything (including prices – though that is more an economic issue forced by the social view). Welfare programs of any sort are a socialist program to redistribute wealth. When the government takes my money, without my permission, it is stealing. All the arguments that say that if the government didn’t take and redistribute no-one would do it on its own it simply crap. True some would horde their wealth, but that ignores the countless many who give, and give generously without compulsion. I shouldn’t be forced to help others because then I am no longer being generous. They take the opportunity from me to act on my own good-will.

  • Antonio

The worst part of the world today is that we all as society do not want to pay attention to how big powers move us. People only care about having a “good life”, electronic gadgets, or else without paying attention to the real price they are paying when goverment takes up their lives the way is happening now a days.

Not because we are somehow free and in liberty we own our lives. We are ruled and manipulated, and pretty soon we will all be robots that cannot express their feelings.

  • http://wwwroyaltoypoodle.com maxi

I can see over the years how the Government has involved itself with every aspect of our lives. It has legislated how we should take care of our children, our pets, Everything we do or say has laws attached. We used to be a free nation but now we are not as free. A friend of mine said that we need laws to regulate people that don’t know how to take care of their kids or whatever the issue is. I told her “Well you just can’t regulate Stupid.” You can’t take away everyone elses freedom on the basis of a few people can’t behave probperly. We have animal control for issues like our pets and that should be enough without more laws dominating the right to breed them etc. The schools have changed over the years dramatically. Christians need to build their own schools or have mothers home teaching. I had some people over to my house and they were complaining that their son was livid about the fact that his little sister ( he was a young boy also) dressed the poodle – a toy size male- in doll clothes. I wanted to say “Well if that is confusing to him or angering him wait till he gets to high school and find out that Mary can kiss or worse Sue and Frank kiss Sam. That is okay If the teacher has any imput about that in the negative he/she better keep her/his mouth shut or a job can be lost.

    • http://www.diyyardandhome.com Dan

We just need to get the federal government out of the school business period. Just another “redistribute the wealth” trying to make all schools equal in every state and have the federal government control it.

      • Michael J.

        Dan,
That’s right, while parents may understand communism, public education is busy churning out little socialist that may one day inform against you.

      • DaveH

OMG. You have to read this, Michael. This is unbelievable:
        http://www.theonion.com/articles/majority-of-parents-abuse-children-children-report,2183/

      • DaveH

If anybody reading the above article doesn’t come away with the feeling that we are doomed if we let these Liberals go any further, I can only feel sorry for you.
Think about this. The very same people, who want to control your lives as parents, also want you to raise your children to have no respect for your authority. Are they really that seriously ignorant?

      • libertytrain

I sincerely hope that article was tongue-in-cheek. If not we are doomed beyond hope.

      • DaveH

I know what you mean, Liberty, as I thought the same thing. But I could see no evidence that it wasn’t serious.

      • Michael J.

        DaveH,
Dr. Deidre Fulton who authored the piece writes for The Boston Phoenix.
Go there and check out some of her other work. She is pro gay marriage, Climate Change, Green Farming and Communist Freedom Fighters. Careful you don’t lose your lunch.

      • Karolyn

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! You believe that the story was not tongue-in-cheek???? The last line alone tells the story. “Because they said so?”

Wow, this just shows me why you guys have such weird ideas. You don’t even know what you’re reading!

      • libertytrain

DaveH – I am told by a very good expert – after I forwarded it to him, that Onion is a known spoof website. However, as I replied to him, seems to be that much of what I read in that article is similar to what I hear from some of the child “experts” these days – so perhaps it’s only a moderate spoof.

      • libertytrain

Karolyn they spoof what the media says – yet it’s not that far from what we hear these days as parents and grandparents. Kind of like that spoof on Saturday Night Live about seeing Russia from Alaska. You can, sort of, but they spoofed it. Like you can almost see Cuba from the Keys. One could have a little fun with that one as well. But trust me as a grandmother who tended to the babies while the parents were deployed, things have indeed changed and that article was not that far off. I was downright scared to be in charge for fear anything I said or did could and would be held against me in a court of law.

      • Vicki

The Onion uses humor and satire to point out and make editorial comments. This article is clearly trying to point out the co-relation between what we actually see in our children and how short a distance it is to what the onion described. It is a spoof. It is a warning.

      • libertytrain

Vicki you said that so well.

      • DaveH

        Karolyn,
For a person that is quick to embrace the fairy tales of the left, you sure can be condescending.
The thing is that I’ve had lots of psychology classes, and they do think like that.
Perhaps it was satire, but the fact is that it hits pretty close to reality for you loopy Liberals.

      • Vicki

I am young enough to remember some of those (alleged) abuses. Of course just like the nanny state they always claim it is for our own good.

      • DaveH

In fact, I was driving home from work one day in Los Angeles, and a radio psychologist was giving advice on what you should do if you came into the kitchen, saw the cookie jar open, and your kid with chocolate on his lips. When you asked your kid if he was into the cookies and he said “no”, you shouldn’t confront him with the evidence. Rather you should let it go, so that your kid will learn that you trust him.
        I kid you not.

      • kate8

DaveH – This may seem like a joke to some, but I’m here to tell you all that here in CA that is taken seriously.

People have no idea how absurdly crazy things get when you have Progressives in absolute control. It’s like living in an alternate reality where nothing makes sense. Not unlike Alice in Wonderland.

      • James

I fail to see how raising children to eat a proper diet and making them adhere to high moral standards is related to communism. Somewhere the Bible says ‘spare the rod spoil the child’.

      • JeffH

DaveH, that is about the most disgusting thing I think I’ve ever read.
According to this report my parents must have been as bad as Hitler and all they ever did was keep us 4 boys in line. I appreciate my upbringing, belt whoopin’, soaped mouth and school detentions all made me a better balanced person.

You let them teach it(socialism)in your schools, and do not demand the expulsion of radicals from the ranks of your teachers and professors. They do it and you havent called them on it,so you get what you paid for. That is why you wont get help from the institutions, except that they will help to destroy you from the inside using your children. If you take a stand and go to school district meetings and walk around with signs that say “toss out the socialists” then maybe you will stand a chance. But if you like the corporations are too busy chasing the dollar to pay off your debt….then you now know why it happened while you werent looking.

      Maxi writes:
“I wanted to say “Well if that is confusing to him or angering him wait till he gets to high school and find out that Mary can kiss or worse Sue and Frank kiss Sam.”

So what part of Freedom of Expression are you having trouble with?
Our forefathers did as a religious (Mostly Christian) people create a Constitution for all the people. They honored first principle. They honored The Golden Rule. They honored freedom itself. For a moral (and perhaps religious) people. Where did your Creator give you the right to say who will kiss whom?

You do have the duty to protect Sam from being kissed by Frank ONLY if Sam does not want to be kissed and Frank tries to insist. This little but obvious detail is why governments are instituted amongst men. To protect the RIGHT to say no.

  • newspooner

Yes, modern American politics is loaded with communism. Can we survive?

    • Michael J.

      newspooner,
The initial step in solving any problem, is to first understand it.

      • shobolica

Ronald Reagan once said, “How do you tell a communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin.”

@newspooner: yes, communism can be survived, I know it from personal experience. However, it is much better to stop it and throw it away before it reaches even further to the next generation.

Whoever would like it, look for the book (a short one, don’t worry) “Marx & Satan” by Richard Wurmbrand. The author is the same that, in 1976, being invited in a Congress session, he pulled out his shirt to show his many wound received in prison in the communist Romania because of his belief. Even so, he wasn’t believed and he has been considered an extremist. I am happy I had him for lunch in my house, a few decades ago.

The effort to change America into a non-Christian Communist nation began almost immediately. About 70$ of its citizens are still clueless to that fact. TV has been the biggest weapon of the Elite ever invented.

I am a Member of Porter’s Group, btw… highly recommend.

      Anthony,

How right you are the Tellie is the most effective method of making walking talking IDIOT SHEEP.
Have any of you ever noted you’re kids don’t go out and do anything like climb tree’s, make forts, ride bikes, swim, or hang out and beat the hell out of each other anylonger. We don’t have thinkers anylonger we just have little zombie sheep high on DOE mind control drugs.

Everyone is in a “little box” not all the same little box but a little box of their peers who are just as mindless as they are.
Thinking is no longer something that people do, they only follow now and do so with utter obedience and repeat what they are told like parrots. Be it to a political party, or quasi religions, or even as mindless as a football team.

Thats why we are doomed as a nation.

      • Bitter Libertarian

I agree, a year ago I started a transition of my kids. It was a bit of a struggle with/for them. Step one no more TV period. Then I gave them a 1000 piece puzzle, it took 2 months to figure it out. Then the Fort began, Tree limbs & Twine…they started spending more hours outside, and zero on the boobtube. Fighting didnt stop, but changed to stuff of years gone by. They are healthier, their grades are better, they dont hang with too many other kids because they cant stand them after going over to their homes. Its a little tough, but they are better off and even admit it.

Funny thing..the other day I allowed them to watch a movie.(they dig John wayne BTW) before the move started the TV was on and the channey was one they use to watch all the time. They both stood there for about 15 seconds…then the younger one said..”We use to watch that…boy were we screwed up”

        BL,
I loved the post. Our son though not ours by nature, we adopted him after his mother left him on our door step. We built a fort up in a tall old Oak tree, complete with a rope ladder years ago.

We would ride the horses twice a week and he helped out with the stables, as well got a mini bike of what we would work on a lot.
He plays guitar, and drums and piano. he got great grades in school, skipped many grades as well.
He also enjoyed taking trips with me all over the world. By the time he was 15 he has been all over the UK, Europe, and to China, as well nearly 30 states here in the US.
He is a great kid our only rule for him was learn something new daily, he figured out the Tellie was not going to do the trick.

This is his first year at Cal Tec and all his new friends can’t believe he does not watch the Telie.

      • Carlucci

You both sound like fantastic parents. If only the rest of America could see the big picture and do likewise.

        Time,
Two of my kids have been right beside me when I built my deck, right beside me when I finished the inside of our 14 by 23, three story addition, I have taught them to weld, Maintain their own cars, do plumbing work, all the things in life that usually cost the homeowners money. I hope they never have to use it but if they do, it’s there!

        Carlucci,

We tried our best, it seems to have worked out very well. He is a great young man with a big heart and a solid thrist for learning.
We are so very proud of him, he has worked very hard so really the credit should all be his alone.
We just guided him along I think a lot of it is just showing you really care, as well that you take the time to give them a lot of insight rather than talk at them. I find kids are like sponges the more you let them in the more they want to learn.

      • libertytrain

Time – I think you are correct in your assessment.

      • Granny Mae

        TIME,

You are so very right. I have also found that adults watch too much TV. It desensitizes your very being ! Many years ago there was a serial killer in Atlants Gerorgia and when they finally discovered who it was they discovered he had been at most every discovery of the bodies and that he was seen eating ice cream at those times. They were appaled that this person was so in-sensitive ! Today we sit in the evening and watch the most horrible shows about killing and torturing people and children and all the while we sit there and eat pop corn or chips or ice cream and think nothing of what is going on in front of our very eyes. Every year they get a little bolder and bolder. When did death and torture become intertainment? Without even thinking we let our children watch and think nothing of it. The displays of sex on TV are shocking to me! Thee is nothing left to the imagination and our young children are in the room watching right along with us. I wonder how many parents would allow their children in the bedroom with them during their sex? Yet they have no problem alowing this to happen with total strangers on the TV. When I say something about it to different ones I’m accused of being a prude. My husband and I watched a program last week that the gore of it all made me sick and also him. I sent an e-mail to the TV network ! It is disgusting ! When adults finally don’t watch the TV for a few months and then you take a evening to watch something it is shocking! I watch mostly church channels and discovery and history and things like that. What a shock to go back to regular TV. It is not for me ! I like to read books and sew and do a lot of other things besides sitting and watching the idiot tube all day and night !

      • Jenelle

Kids don’t have time to “climb tree’s, make forts, ride bikes, swim, or hang out and beat the hell out of each other any longer” because of all the ever increasing homework and after school activities.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Jenelle,
I’ll agree with all but the beat the hell out of each other! Or have you not seen the news in the last year? kids killed by other kids with 2x4s, guns, knives, almost anything you can name!!!

      • TIME

        Jenelle,

I highly disagree with you, home work I had when I was a kid was a pile that took hours.
What kids get today is at best marginal its a simple case of repeating what your told. The Dude saw throught that in a NY second so it became a game for him to out smart his teachers.

Our dude was done with his Homework in less than 40 minutes, also as he didn’t watch the Telie he had a lot more time for many other things. Keep in mind he was in all advanced class’s, he even skipped two full grades.
So he graduated high school at age 16.
I also feel that much of the hands on learning from going to places most read about also added to his advancment in both learning curb, as well adjustments to life in general.

    • EddieW

I agree the TV is the most profound brainwashing thing ever invented!!
But now I question whether it matters anymore…the Republicans want the Patriot Act permanent, and it ribbed so many freedoms, and robs more each day…Here is what I wrote about 30 Alternative News Media:

Patriot Act Permanent…are they insane? If you want a Fascist Police State, that is the perfect vehicle to implement it, it is being done even now, using the exact same thing both Hitler & Stalin did…have neighbor spy on neighbor…they are teaching kids to do this in school, Walmart is pushing it, The FBI is asking garbage men to spy on us…and now that they have again passed the Patriot act unnaposed…There is very little if any chance to prevent a tyrannical Police State from being implemented!! It’s already now too late to stop it, and making the Patriot Act permanent, will guarantee it can never be reversed!! I guess too many people have hated these freedoms, and in less than 2 years…, they will all be gone!!! Hope they can be happier under a Tyrannical Police State!!!
