Obama’s Top Climate Adviser To Step Down

January 27, 2011 by

Obama's top climate adviser to step downPresident Barack Obama's top energy and climate adviser, Carol Browner, is the latest in a series of White House staff departures.

On Jan. 24, government officials confirmed that Browner, who served as an administrator with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under former President Bill Clinton, will step down from her post. Although White House sources would not confirm if her position would be filled, Browner is expected to remain on staff for several weeks to ensure a smooth transition during Obama's reorganization efforts.

Browner was instrumental in pushing certain elements of Obama's eco-friendly agenda, such as new fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards with automakers. However, comprehensive legislation to address climate change stalled in Congress last year, and a new GOP-led House of Representatives makes it unlikely that the 112th Congress will approve legislation that establishes a firm limit on greenhouse gas emissions.

According to The Hill, Republicans and some centrist Democrats are gearing up to strip the EPA of some of its power — granted by the Clean Air Act — to set climate change goals. Leading up to Obama's State of the Union speech, several environmental agencies and liberal Democrats voiced their hopes that the President would address these issues.

"From a political point of view, it is very important that [Obama] signal Republicans early that if they try and stop EPA via a debt-ceiling bill or a spending bill, he will veto it," an environmentalist told the news provider.

Here we go again, folks. Is it safe to assume that this forthcoming vacancy is somewhere between a matter of a rat abandoning a sinking ship and someone who can’t stand intense stupidity any longer?
If the mental dynamos in Washington have a problem with a ‘smooth transition,’ I can recommend one or two brands of super suppositories to make their selection process “flow.”

could it be the demograp looked out the window and noticed that we have had one of the longest cold spells in yrs.

Another one bites the dust!!! yes yes yes. b4 long, Obammy boy will be all alone and NOBODY will love him anymore. nobody will help him pack up his belongings and his family, so he will have to call in a tribe from his homeland, Kenya, to come over to move him back home. Then folks, and only then, can we start to rebuild the Great U.S. of America!

Onumnutts and his airy fairy green morons in Sept realized citizens don’t care for the match box subsidized crap. Electric and hybred vehicles didn’t sell worth a damn. Full sized and regular powered vehicles sold over 26% better last year than the government promoted crap. The soros socialists and the marxist muslim moron just can not beleive that citizens will not by their crap. Government Motors and Government Energy, are 2 prime examples of the wasting of stimulas taxpayers money. Jeff Imelt took GE money and spent in China to create jobs, and now is the job creating advisor czar for the purple lipped marxist muslim moron.

  8. Ted Crawford says:

I hope the newly elected as well as the established members of both Houses of Congress act in a responsible manner to, if possible, rein-in the EPA! Failing that then defund them if necessary!
It’s been sad for me to watch over the years Agencys and organizations that were good for the Nation be coopted into political tools that are instead used against us. The EPA when properly motavated can be a valuable citizen advocacy group. As used by Obama and others before him they are instead a means of by-passing legislation in favor of regulation!
Unions were once a strong and necessary voice for American workers. The rank and file Union members are still mostly hard working men and women. The leadership has become Greedy political hacks interested far more in their position and fortune than in empowering the workers!

  9. Dale on the left coast says:

Cleanest countries on the planet are USA, Canada and Western Europe. Why do the enviro-whacks not go to China, India, Russia, Africa and Eastern Europe to protest real polution? . . . just askin . . .

    • Ted Crawford says:

What I fail to understand about these people is their lack of understanding of the problem! If man is causing a climate change event as they proport their actions against American Industry are counter-productive to the reduction of “Greenhouse Gasses”!
The world demand for the products will only increase over time not decrease. If countries like America, with common sense regulations are regulated out of the manufacturing arena, that leaves only the more polluting nations still in the game! That will clearly increase the proported bad effects!

      • eddie47d says:

….and bigger problems for those countries. Eventually their looser standards will bite them in the butt. More respiratory diseases more lead poisoning and more water borne illnesses, etc. It would be unwise for the US to water down the Clean Air Act. That would be short term ignorance or penny wise but pound foolish. I guess we could tell those other countries to Go Choke On It!

      • Al Sieber says:

One volcano puts more pollutants in one day than all the cities in the world do in one year.

  10. i41 says:

eddee, spoken like a true blue soros socialist azz wipe. Trying to go green by depending on windmills, solar, and other airy fairy crap will never work. Wind isn’t static, solar isn’t much better, and renewable energy takes more energy to produce than is created. Nuke power will take 35-40 years to pass all the permitting and needed envior s–t studies to say nothing of the non stop hearings. All of these impedements were created by the envior nut jobs and now their crap regs are killing everyone and business. Plus even if we have power, how in the hell is it going to be transported, we have a poor power grid delivery system and even if a power grid was started the same time as a nuke power plant was suggest to be built, it wil be more like 50 years to get it up to operating. To widen an existing road out in the middle of no where, it takes now 9-10 years to get it approved no matter how bad it is needed. In the early 70′s it took 1-2 years. All of you puke minded idoits of the soros socialist persuasion, are ignorant to the impedements envior nut jobs have done to jobs creation and our country. These impedement that help no one have driven countries out of the USA to Canada, Mexico or anyother 3 rd world cess pool, all thanks to the hoops a business needs to jump through before ever creating anything. Prove me wrong on the building and jobs mess isn’t all thanks to smuck democraps and the nut jobs buds of yours.

  11. Cawmun Cents says:

It is true about the volcanoes…..whenever the educated folks start griping about warming or cooling,(seems to depend on their moods, oops perhaps its the time of the month)Something comes along….el Nino,el Pinto,el Santa Mario….that causes others to be skeptical of their findings. These “experts” seem to find whatever they are paid to find, by the folks who want to find what they pay them to find. Its called a “grant” that’s scientific lingo for bribe. If you pay me I will find Martians on Venus for goshsakes and even convince you that it might be plausible. So all your “go here” climate change videos will never ring true to those of us who have figured out the agenda behind it.No its not a conspiracy theory to notate that Al Gore has become many times more wealthy than he was before…shed his wife and got a new image with the communists that co-opted the
    ‘green” movement.
