Liberals Quick To Act, Blast Political Opponents Following Arizona Shooting

January 13, 2011 by

Liberals quick to act, blast political opponents following Arizona shootingThe Democratic response to the Jan. 8 shooting in Tucson, Ariz., has left many commentators questioning whether left-wing politicians are using this deadly event to bolster their political agenda.

FOX News recently detailed the stark differences in President Barack Obama's reaction to the Arizona massacre to his response following the 2009 shootings in Fort Hood that left 13 dead and 30 wounded. Following the deaths at the military base, Obama went ahead with his speech at the Tribal Nations Conference, making time to thank those in attendance before addressing the incident.

Following the shooting this past weekend, Obama made a statement to the press, called for a national moment of silence and canceled a trip to New York. He also sent FBI Director Robert Mueller to the crime scene in Tucson, the news provider reported.

Many liberal politicians have been vocal following the shooting, placing some of the blame on the rhetoric used by right-wing talk show hosts and members of the Tea Party. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has fielded criticism for having crosshairs symbols on her website that targeted congressional districts.

Boston Herald columnist Michael Graham said that many leftists are using the recent shootings in an effort to discredit their political opponents.

"They have absolutely no shame in using the blood of a wounded congresswoman or a dead 9-year-old girl to do it," Graham wrote.

It may have been inadvertent, but a passage in President Barack Obama’s speech to a memorial service in Tucson Wednesday night could undercut a criminal charge federal prosecutors have leveled at suspect Jared Loughner for the death of U.S. District Court Judge John Roll in a shooting rampage Saturday.

“Judge Roll was recommended for the federal bench by John McCain 20 years ago, appointed by President George H.W. Bush, and rose to become Arizona’s chief federal judge,” Obama told the crowd at the University of Arizona. Roll’s “colleagues described him as the hardest-working judge within the Ninth Circuit. He was on his way back from attending mass, as he did every day, when he decided to stop by and say, ‘Hi,’ to his representative.”

In the complaint supporting Loughner’s arrest, federal prosecutors argue that Roll wasn’t simply seeking to pay a social call on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) when he showed up at the community outreach event where the shooting spree took place Saturday. Prosecutors and the FBI insist that Roll “was engaged in official duties” because he wanted to talk to Giffords and her staffers about problems with a surging caseload in federal courts in Arizona, particularly along the Mexican border.

Loughner’s alleged killing of Roll may only be a crime under federal law if Roll was on business and not merely stopping by to say hi to a friend. The death penalty is likely available to the feds anyway, because of the death of Giffords’s aide Gabriel Zimmerman. However, multiple murders are an additional aggravating factor that could lead to the death penalty under federal law, as is the killing of a federal judge when carrying out his official duties.

As a legal matter, Obama’s view (which tracks with the public narrative offered by Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik) may be irrelevant, but it probably doesn’t help to have the President of the United States emphasizing the social aspect of Roll’s stop to see Giffords on Saturday, rather than the reason prosecutors claim drew him there.

It should be noted that Roll’s killing is clearly prosecutable under Arizona law. The issue of the strength of the federal charge for his murder mainly affects the dynamic between the state and federal governments over which should go first in prosecuting Loughner. For now, the feds are asserting their right to press forward before the state does.

    • JUKEBOX

You forget tha Eric Holder has Carte Blanche to prosecute or ot prosecute at his discretion, as he has proven during Clinton’s and Obama’s administrations.

  • http://elliesmiles@hotmail.com Stuck in NY

In total agreement with Phyllis on this. One speech does not alter bad leadership or promote it either. Let’s hold steadfast to our principles and seek a candidate in 2012 who we truly believe works for the good of the american people.

    • HFlashman

We will. And that’s why Obama will be a two term presidency :)

    • Carole Howell

      Stuck in NY,
You are a dreamer, nothing wrong with that I like to dream myself, but 2012 we will just get another puppet. Bought and paid for, unless we some how manage to take the big money out of our elections. People are working on it, there is a very large movement to do just that. Make all elections publicly funded.

Right now our government swings whatever way the money comes from, whether it is foreign or domestic, matters not. They shot the last real President we had, and when Nixon gave them problems they ruined him. We have had nothing but spineless puppets ever since, nothing but figureheads, empty suits.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Carole,
Nixon was nothing but a stupid LIAR!! When he was on the air saying we had no ground troops in Cambodia, my unit was flying them in every day!! When he was talking about the troop transports that were leaving Ton Son Nuit, he never said a word about the fact that each one came there FULL!! The fact that I say he was stupid comes from the FACT that he recorded every wrong deed that he did! I guess he started to believe his daughter when she said “My dad should be KING of the United States!”

  • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Linda

Liberals are sicko’s like who even knew that woman but the idiot-in-charge made a big to do about it like he even cared like you say the Fort Hood incident was a after thought to that criminal and the comgresswoman is a major thing, the poor little girl that got killed is the one I really feel for I just hope this country gets out of the clutches of evil that has prevailed upon us since he became president

    • joe sun

Linda its funny how no one talks about the girl,I wonder why she was there to start with.I can remember the little kids dressed in white sheets.
I dont see why we can not leave our kids out of it.

      • Karolyn

What do you mean, no one’s saying anything about the girl. By now we should all know her whole life history with all the publicity. She was there because she was just voted into her class council and was interested in politics.

      • JUKEBOX

Joe must have been watching MSNBC and watching only the radical rants and none of the real news.

    • Carole Howell

      Linda,
You don’t seem to care much for her or the others wounded and killed, one being a 9 yr old little girl. You sound as if you are as heartless as you say he is.

BTW, have you noticed that Arizona’s newly elected Republicans have RESIGNED, yes, RESIGNED. They fear for their lives because they fear they may not be considered CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH FOR THE TEA PARTY PEOPLE.

Did you notice that King, who just introduced that new gun law legislation (no guns within a 1000 feet of a politician)is a REPUBLICAN. The Republicans fear the ‘Tea Party’ people, they think 00000hh! we have created a monster.

They do not fear the liberals, they fear ‘Tea Party’ people. What does that tell you. THINK.LOL Kinda blows your entire argument doesn’t it. No the left is not feared, it is the Right that is feared. The Left has no Ann Coulter, no Lush Limpballs, no M. Savage, no Sean ‘Hiel’ Hannity, no Glen Beck, no O’Rielly and others, who are on the air everyday.
They spew hatred and division every damn day, they act as if we are not all Americans. They have made liberal a dirty word, yet most of this country’s founding fathers were liberals. Each and every one of us have both liberal and conservative ideas depending on the issues. To be all liberal or all conservative is to be looney, abnormal. What? you would kill someone who does not agree with you 100%? That is crazy, no one has all the answers.NO ONE.

Ann Coulter said she would not mind if the terrorists blew up all of San Francisco, WTF! what the hell kinda talk is that? She also said she would not have minded one damn bit if Timothy McVey would have blown up the NY times building. Who on the left talks like that?

      • kate8

Carole – If that’s true, it’s because they fear Obama will have them taken out, too.

No doubt they received a visit, and were told how things work in DC now. I’ve heard that is SOP now.

      • JUKEBOX

I seem to remember that most of the mass murderers in recent times have been some kind of fundamentalist whacko. I invite you to name some conservative killers in the last 100 years.

  • Phyllis

I would like to believe Mr Obama was truly sincere with the message that he gave over television last night, but……I must say that from all that he has done, since he was elected to office, what he said last night doesn’t fit the image of that man. He must have had excellent speech writers, and I am certain that he practised that speech thoroughly. He gave the people what they wanted to hear, and the people were caught up with the emotion of that speech. I feel saddened when anyone uses a tragic circumstance to further their or another’s agenda or political situation. My hope is that this does not sway the public to re-elect him in 2012…..however, people are human and are always ready to give someone a “second” chance!

    • Karolyn

What has Obama done to make you think he doesn’t care about people?

      • JUKEBOX

He pushed Obamacare, Cap and Trade, and a myriad of other legislation that will “SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND”.

      • Carole Howell

        JUKEBOX,

Have you noticed that the American middle class are shrinking? That millions of them are being pushed into poverty level,at the same time most of the wealth is concentrated in the hands of the top 7%, they get richer and we get poorer, our wages have been stagnant for years and years, but they get richer and richer by many times over.

Did you complain about that wealth, being spread away from the masses and going straight to the top? You approve of that do you? What a fool. Or maybe you belong to that tiny group eh?

      • JUKEBOX

No, I do not have a position in the Obama administration or in the Democrat Congress. That’s where a lot of those at the top of the wealth obelisk are.

      • kate8

Karolyn – You have GOT to be kidding.

Have you really not been paying attention to what everyone is saying?

      • eddie47d

What you are saying is not what ALL Americans feel or think. They are not your clones and they don’t expect you to be theirs.

      • kate8

eddie – I’m well aware that there are Obama sycophants out there. Yourself, for instance.

I am also aware that there are many more who think as I do. And our numbers are gaining all the time.

      • eddie47d

Don’t be so paranoid the sun will come up tomorrow so have a little faith.

  • Delores Smith

    OBAMA,
You are now,in my opinion, attempting to place the blame on the American people. Obama, you and the Democrats, are fully responsible for any hate directed to you. You are also eager to blame Republicans. Every important amendment submitted by Republicans was either voted down, shelved, point of order called, or scratched at conference. You took Arizona to court when we asked for national security protection, and now you are using a tragedy in Tucson for your benefit. You placed a Latino man at your side, while the two men and one woman who took the shooter down were in the middle of a crowd and barely recognized. Your trip to AZ was about illegal immigration. Did you know that when you spoke from the White House that you didn’t even mention Federal Court Judge Roll who was killed? He is the Judge that handled the case on illegal immigation. I consider this civil discourse, because I believe it to be the TRUTH.
    Delores Smith Delores109@cox.net

    • JUKEBOX

Maybe some historian will put the blame for Tucson on Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, for that vitriol in the newspaper of the time ended in a duel in which founding father Hamilton was killed by Vice President Burr.

      • HFlashman

Actually….the cause of the duel was something Hamilton stated in a private conversation about Burr’s daughter. What it was exactly that was stated by Hamilton was never disclosed. It’s a popular theory that the rumor was planted by Jefferson for Hamilton to repeat and Jefferson’s plotting was to rid himself of two political enemies in one shot (so to speak). Whomever was victorious in the duel would be discredited and no longer a political threat to Jefferson….and the loser would be a threat to no one.

Hope that helped set the record straight…

BTW…how do you define what a Founding father to be? Involved in the Declaration of Independence, signer of the Constitution, or one who signed both? Or would it be who were the delegates to the Constitutional Convention? Or would it be those who drew up and signed he Articles of Confederation? Or maybe the members of the First (or Second) Continental Congress? Or the members of the Confederation Congress? Or the first Congress of the United States?

    • kate8

Delores – Consider this. In any cases of political assassinations, the people would go nuts if an obvious professional sniper did it. What they require is a “crazed lone gunman”. Hasn’t that always been the case?

Judge Roll was standing in his way.

      Nuff said.

      • eddie47d

Dang Kate 8 you have become whacko!!

  • J.M.R.

WHY DID IT TAKE THE DICK-TATER 4 HRS TO MAKE A STATEMENT?

    • kate8

J.M.R. – Hey. He usually hides out for several days. But he had his script ready this time.

  • Karolyn

How many times does Personal Liberty have to beat this dead horse. This is, what, the third article about it? Give it a rest already!

    • Delores Smith

      KAROLYN,
They are not beating a dead horse. All of this must be said over and over again until someone listens.
      Delores Smith
      Delores109@cox.net

      • Karolyn

Delores – All they are doing is perpetuating anger and differences. If more people would just shut the f up and let things go, we wouldn’t have so much dissension, anger and hate.

      • kate8

Karolyn – Yes, of course. If we’d just stop arguing with the Left’s assertions and agree that it’s all the fault of the Right, in spite of the fact that the Left is FAR more guilty of what they accuse…if we’d just forfeit our right to free speech and hand over all of our God-given rights and just SHUT UP ALREADY, this would all go away.

        AAAARRRrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh.

      • Carole Howell

Kate 8, Give some examples of something the left has said that tops this.

I am not saying kill all the liberals, leave one or two in the colleges ……..Rush Limbaugh

Top that or at least match it with something said by someone on the left.

      • kate8

Carole, I don’t have a compiled list because I don’t care what people say. We have free speech.

Limbaugh was making a joke. He also knew that the liberals would run with it, and he was, of course, right.

I refer you to several posts on yesterdays thread where JeffH posted two lengthy lists of horrible things said by the Left, and NOT in jest. I recommend you check them out, because he did a far better job than I could.

But I doubt you will. You are not interested in the truth.

Columnist John Hawkins-Violent Liberal Hate Rhetoric: Fifteen Quotes

Conservatives have long since been willing to stand up and say that they oppose political violence and threats coming from our side – as well we should. So, when will Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama finally stand up and condemn the ocean of violence and hatred being spewed by their friends, supporters.

“A spoiled child (Bush) is telling us our Social Security isn’t safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here’s your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of 4 gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little b*stard. [audio of gun being cocked].” — A “humor bit” from the Randi Rhodes Show

“I want to go up to the closest white person and say: ‘You can’t understand this, it’s a black thing’ and then slap him, just for my mental health” — New York city councilman Charles Barron

“..And then there’s Rumsfeld who said of Iraq ‘We have our good days and our bad days.’ We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say ‘This is one of our bad days’ and pull the trigger.” — From a fundraising ad put out by the St. Petersburg Democratic Club

“I believe in ecoterrorism.” — James Cameron

“…In an ideal world, American consumers could be convinced to do the right thing through an appeal to logic with public service messages like the ‘What Would Jesus Drive?’ TV campaign, but the kind of people who would buy a car that increases the risk to other motorists in an accident can’t be reasoned with. They’re selfish and stupid. It’s unfortunate that drivers must worry that their SUVs are being targeted by insulting stickers and Molotov cocktails, but one thing’s for sure: It couldn’t be happening to a more deserving group of people.” — Ted Rall winks at ecoterrorism

“F*** God D*mned Joe the God D*mned Motherf*cking plumber! I want Motherf*cking Joe the plumber dead.” — Liberal talk show host Charles Karel Bouley on the air.

“Republicans don’t believe in the imagination, partly because so few of them have one, but mostly because it gets in the way of their chosen work, which is to destroy the human race and the planet. Human beings, who have imaginations, can see a recipe for disaster in the making; Republicans, whose goal in life is to profit from disaster and who don’t give a hoot about human beings, either can’t or won’t. Which is why I personally think they should be exterminated before they cause any more harm.” — The Village Voice’s Michael Feingold, in a theater review of all places

(Rush Limbaugh)” just wants the country to fail. To me that’s treason. He’s not saying anything different than what Osama Bin Laden is saying. You might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight. … Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that?” — Wanda Sykes

“You guys see Live and Let Die, the great Bond film with Yaphet Kotto as the bad guy, Mr. Big? In the end they jam a big CO2 pellet in his face and he blew up. I have to tell you, Rush Limbaugh is looking more and more like Mr. Big, and at some point somebody’s going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he’s going to explode like a giant blimp. That day may come. Not yet. But we’ll be there to watch. I think he’s Mr. Big, I think Yaphet Kotto. Are you watching, Rush?” — Chris Matthews

“I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow….I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.” — Bill Maher

“If I got (Condi Rice) a— on camera, I would put my Mars Air Jordans so far up her butt that the Mayo Clinic would have to remove them.” — Spike Lee

        “O&A – ‘Condoleezza Rice’”
Charlie – “I’d love to f— that b*tch dude” (laughter)

        Charlie – “She’s the F—in man”

        O&A – “yeah”

        Charlie – “I’d F…that b*tch….”

        O&A – “I just imagine the horror in Condoleezza Rice’s face….”

        - “(laughter) ….. as she realizes what’s going on”

        - “…as you were just holding her down and F’n her.”

Charlie – “punch her all the F’n face, shut the F— up b*tch”

O&A – “that’s exactly what I meant” (laughter in background)

Charlie – “you know F— it …. and George Bush wife? I’d F— that b*tch to death” — “Shock Jocks” Opie & Anthony talk rape & violence with their guest “Homeless Charlie.”

“For those of you who do, as a matter of principle, oppose war in any form, the idea of supporting a conscientious objector who’s already been inducted [and] in his combat service in Iraq might have a certain appeal. But let me ask you this: Would you render the same support to someone who hadn’t conscientiously objected, but rather instead rolled a grenade under their line officer in order to neutralize the combat capacity of their unit?” — University Professor Ward Churhill on supporting soldiers who frag their officers

“Drudge? Aw, Drudge, somebody ought to wrap a strong Republican entrail around his neck and hoist him up about six feet in the air and watch him bounce.” — Liberal radio host, Mike Malloy

“I know how the ‘tea party’ people feel, the anger, venom and bile that many of them showed during the recent House vote on health-care reform. I know because I want to spit on them, take one of their ‘Obama Plan White Slavery’ signs and knock every racist and homophobic tooth out of their Cro-Magnon heads.” — The Washington Post’s Courtland Milloy

Kate is on a roll, watch out! I feel sorry for you Kate, ~

what terrible force must drive you.

Wait, Karolyn. Carole asked me to at least match her quote from Limbaugh, so I complied.

True to form, the liberal gets a pass and I get blame.

        LMAO.

Guess what? The tables are turning. Don’t like it much, do ya?

      • kate8

And you are right. After this latest stunt you guys pulled, all bets are off. You’re going to get everything you dish out thrown right back at you.

Ya gone and went too far this time. Yer not gonna get away with it no mo.

      • Karolyn

Honestly, Kate, it seems like you’ve really gone off the deep end. I’ve seen you get meaner and meaner every day.

      • kate8

Fed up, Karolyn. Had enough of the idiocy coming from the Left. Had enough of the taking of freedom, the forcing of unwanted laws and programs shoved down our throats, and had enough of the Left using (or perpetrating) incidents like AZ to pass more oppressive laws.

If defending my family, my country and my honor is mean, then so be it.

      • kate8

Carole Howell = I answered your challenge. Where are you?

They should have waited until they actually saw the political leanings of the shooter before insisting he was right wing. Now they can’t back down or shove it under the rug.

    • bobwire

So we are to assume just any congress person would do? or that “We the Living” is a light read and void of any political implications.

Ayn Rand’s, “we the living” was some of her most profound work, extremely powerful. I was left depress for weeks after reading this a novel and still 37 years later, I remember it well.

    • JUKEBOX

His classmates say that he never listened to any talk radio or watched any television. So, I wonder if he ever read “DREAMS FROM MY FATHER”, because then, we could blame Obama.

Hmm, I don’t know any “media free” 21 year olds, of course how much could a classmate really know? I suppose he could live in a vacuum. I heard he was flaming out with the chicks. Go figure!

They say Sex can be a misdemeanor you know?

The more you miss the meaner you get.

Pat Ridge, it was not the gun that killed the judge, it was a man with a very twisted mind. Duh.

    • Pat Ridge

I have heard this statement for years now Kim,it did not make any sense then and still does not. There was 2 gun massacres in the UK and 1 in Austalia a few years ago unlike US Government both of these Governments took serious action how many gun massacres since??? 0 is the answer.Nothing will happen in the USA not while NRA have politicans of all parties in their pocket and America’s love affair with guns continues. We lost JFK,RFK,MLK almost R Reagan and God knows how many great Americans because of this love affair–God help America.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Pat,
And exactly how many of those murders you speak of were performed with LEGALLY OBTAINED guns??? I have owned a gun since I was 12 years old and have never murdered anyone, unless you count combat as murder!

PERSONAL LIBERTY NEWS DESK – GREAT ARTICLE…
    OBAMA,
Who do you think you are kidding? I have a video of you mocking people who read the Bible. So much cruelty has come out of your mouth, and you give a talk in Tucson…as if Americans need to change. During the past two years, you and your policies have degraded the people of America. We are not stupid. Obama, I do not like you, and nothing will change that. You are a fake! Delores Smith Delores109@cox.net

    • Shibamom

I’m with you Delores!! I don’t like him either and am really tired of being “chewed out” for stuff I didn’t do. It’s the politicians and their BS that creates most of the hate. The unbalanced citizen’s are the ones that find some kind of inspiration in their BS words and act on it. The shooter is to blame and no one else!

    • Karolyn

Delores, Can you post a link to this video? Is this another hatchet job?

      • HFlashman

Karolyn…of course it’s another hatchet job. Jumpin’ jehosphat….if these folks could prove a small iota of what they calim, I’d be surprised. C’mon….over this past week they’ve cited the EU Times, a Right Wing blogger, and a ‘friend’ of a loner lunatic shooter as reliable sources for their claims.

      • kate8

Obama has mocked Christians and the Bible a number of times. And when he’s tried to quote it, he’s gotten it wrong.

Heck, it was in San Francisco where he mocked Christians who “clung to their religion and their guns”. The implication here being that he’d like to wrench them both away.

      • HFlashman

No..the implication was they’re religous zealots who don’t listen to reason, common sense, or think. An implication that’s proven correct every single day.

    • Tazio2013

Anybody that mocks the bible can’t be all that bad and yes, delores, you and the hoi poloi are stupid.

      • http://?? Joe H.

Chris Matthews was showing a video of a rally, where many of the attendees were openly carrying weapons, and was about to blow a gasket while excoriating these people for doing this. I e-mailed him with a challenge: To tell me and the world at which event there more dead and wounded? The answer was obvious, but you will never hear it from his lips.
I also challenged him to have the liberal Professor Alan Dershowitz on his program to discuss “BLOOD LIBEL”. The Professor, to his credit, has said that this term is no longer an anti semitic phrase. This esteemed man is Jewish, and even though a liberal, has more principles than the MSNBC crew.
I think Obama did deliver one of his best speeches last night, even though he probably did not write most of it. I hope he will read over that speech many times in the months ahead and heed his own advice.

    • s c

Jukebox, Chrissy Mathews is paid mucho big bucks to keep his panties in a knot every day (did he ever get that tingling leg problem fixed?). He’s like a Pavlovian dog. Obummer, if you remember, took his teleprompter with him when he went to Arizona (portable “talent”). It’s entirely possible that he’s never had an original thought in his life.
Like all true Darwinians, you can’t ‘keep him down.’ No matter what we say or do, Obummer will always climb back into the nearest tree to organize the masses. Give him an A for effort, but remember to give him an F when it comes to talent and having what it takes to lead a nation (with the possible exception of North Korea).

it seems that way ~ Chris Mathews can be insufferable in his zeal. He wasn’t all that bad at one time. The whole bunch at MSNBC is caught up in the rock fight. You can be right and still be insufferable.

        I wish they’d quit it.

you say wish they at msmbc would stop it ,TURN THEM OFF,plain and simple no watch no pay,see how easy that is,no one watch they go away,if you like him or them watch them it is your choice

You have to remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I can’t handle much of those tingling leg whackos, I just try to be aware of what vitriol they are spouting.

      • bob wire

oh Marvin, ~ I quit watching TV all together for 4 month awhileback, it all got so bad ~ and I was paying good money to watch the crap and the commercials! ~ The quit was nice.

It funny, after a few months went by the cable company came around offered me a deal that was hard to refuse. ~~ so hear I am again!

But I watch them all ~ The women are much prettier of FOX. Hannity makes me want to snatch him bald headed sometimes. Beck is hard to stay connected to.

What I need to do is break out my viola and learn how to play the “Blues” ~ I think I will, something I attempt to do every winter.

Here’s the thing, ~ something big and exciting happens on a nation level and my desire to know what up sucks me back in.

That “MEMORIAL SERVICE” turned into a disgraceful campaign rally for the 2012 Presidential election.

And if he hadn’t spoken, he would have been nailed as an unfeeling person who doesn’t even care about anybody. Actually, I guess it wouldn’t matter, because that’s what most of you think anyway, right?

      • libertytrain

Honestly, I thought it was a good speech. Eloquent. I didn’t vote for him but did watch the Inaugural and had hope particularly when he talked about all the transparency he would have, nothing hidden, no hidden agendas, and “reachability,” and accountability by his staff, and on and on. I’m sorry to say that speech was just a speech. Hopefully this one last night wasn’t.

      • kate8

liberty – personally, I don’t think there was one whit of sincerety there. The man is cold as ice.

Plus, he benefitted from the incident. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t know about ahead of time. Maybe even ordered it. He can do that now, you know, since he gave himself that power.

What did he know and when did he know it.

        Obama’s fault! Obama’s fault!

At least they can’t blame this one on Bush. Can they?

      • libertytrain

Kate – I’m sure that in weeks to come because Texas is just a state away from Arizona — it will be determined that it was in fact W’s fault or Cheney. One of the two. Has anyone noted where these two were when this occurred… hmmm. :)

      • kate8

Right on, Jukebox. I reckon if half the peeps at that rally had been conservatives, there would have been considerably fewer casualties. Lib-tards always talk the talk, but never walk the walk – as the hero doctor who played opossum til the shooting was over proved.

If only one tenth of the tards there had been conservatives, someone would have been shooting back – thereby at least spoiling Loafner’s aim a mite.

  • bobwire

    Two points;

Never allow a tragedy go to waste; Remember the Alamo! Remember the Maine!

Remember the Boston Massacre! Remember the grass war? ( probably don’t, it’s more texas /mexico history)

These events became rally cries for both change and reprisal. Someone to offer up an accounting if it require being extracted.

The events that have lead up to and the killing in Tucson will be no different. On some level, there will be an accounting.

As for Ms. Palin, once again she was given,~ handed national media coverage “FREE” for her to show us what she could aspire to. It was for her to have, to capture the moment. Words to offer comfort, to provoke the best in all men & women to come forward. This is the core nature of leadership and where leadership rises to the occasion or fails.

I’ll leave it to each one of you to judge her metered message.

If you think that she did well and is leadership material ~ run her!

Just more scripted play acting from the white wing wackos and the left leaning loonies while the powers that be; i.e., less than one ten thousandth of one percent of the US population, continue to tighten the noose around the necks of the hoi poloi. We live in one of the most violent christian countries on earth so, why are we surprised that a crazy white guy can get a gun and shoot a bunch of innocent individuals. Does anyone out there in MSM land think that we won’t be experiencing more of these events? And, please, no comments from the god squad and the jesus freaks. Suggest that those of you who can actually think for yourself, pay attention to the things that matter, for example:

“Just more scripted play acting from the white wing wackos and the left leaning loonies”
      white wing?
There were more Christians 50 years ago now not so, many may claim to be but many claim to be altheas, Muslim, Buda, agnostic, and the list goes on. Sad to say but the Christian population in the U.S.A. has been decreasing. you are a day late and a dollar short in your convictions. You maybe one of the above but not a Christian. Many do not get that Christ was about love, many used that as a reason to hate. Why? Jesus said to not cast stone unless you are without sin, he did not say to kill! God loves you.

      • Richard Pawley

Sadly true and so many simply don’t understand. Was it Augustine or Thomas Aquinas who said that “Politics is God’s punishment to mankind for sin!” The recent accusations about who was responsible for the assassinations in Tucson seems to confirm that we have little changed in a thousand years, and since there is far more sin in the 21st Century (we would cause ancient pagans to blush) we can expect far more politicking today.
Last night the president said, “At a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who happen to think differently than we do, it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds.” Citing Job from the Old Testament he reminded us “terrible things happen for reasons that defy human understanding . . . and we have to guard against simple explanations in the aftermath. For the truth is that none of us can know exactly what triggered this vicious attack. None of us can know with any certainty what might have stopped these shots from being fired, or what thoughts lurked in the inner recesses of a violent man’s mind.”
He continued with “As we discuss these issues, let each of us do so with a good dose of humility. Rather than pointing fingers or assigning blame, let’s use this occasion to expand our moral imaginations, to listen to each other more carefully, to sharpen our instincts for empathy, and remind ourselves of all the ways that our hopes and dreams are bound together.” Additionally he added, “I want our democracy to be as good as Christina imagined it (the youngest of the six who were murdered, newly elected school council member, 9 year old Christina Taylor Green who was there to see Democracy in action and to meet her Congresswoman). I want America to be as good as she imagined it. All of us — we should do everything we can to make sure this country lives up to our children’s expectations.”
Most importantly, his speech writers provided him with something that I hope he truly believes (because it is true) and that is that what counts in the long run is “how well we have loved, and what small part we have played in making the lives of other people better.” To that I can only say “Amen” because ultimately that is all that we take with us into Eternity. It was the best speech that the president has ever given. He is, after all, the father of two young daughters.

      • Karolyn

Richard – You said “and since there is far more sin in the 21st Century (we would cause ancient pagans to blush) we can expect far more politicking today.” I think you are mistaken. There is nothing new under the sun, just more people.

      • kate8

Karolyn – OMG! You quote the Bible!

      • HFlashman

Actually… pagans would take one look and ask why we’re so hung up on sex in this country.

You can watch TV and have hundreds get wiped out in a gunfight…that’s OK. But a breast nipple showing through thin fabric? whoa … that’s so terrible and we shoud never allow our children to see that !

      • kate8

flash – The sexualization (by the Left) of our children today has been very damaging to them. They are simply not mature enough to understand what it is about. But you guys are so obsessed with it yourselves that you just can’t wait to awaken it in our kids, when they should be focusing on childhood things.

      • HFlashman

Kate..I knew you’d be screaming about breasts showing on TV. But n comment on allowing them to see hundreds gunned down in an Arnie movie as he racks up the body count ?

Here’s a little task for you to think about. Thjink of the most violent places on this rock we call Earth. I’d say the ME/Arab countries and the US. See any similarities?

        1. Both have large numbers of religious zealots, zealots who insist that their religion is the correct one and all others must conform. 2. Both areas allow violence on TV where body counts are considered exciting and permissable for kids to watch.
        3. And both areas have HUGE hang ups about sex and educating children about it.

        think about that ….

      • kate8

Children should not watch killing either. I’ll bet the shooter watched a lot of violence.

        You are one sick boy.

      • Karolyn

Flash – You are so right. There is also less rape in countries where sex is not so taboo.

      • kate8

Got anything to back that up, Karolyn?

      • Richard Pawley

Well, there is some truth in what you say about numbers, Karolyn, but there has never been a society that killed what would have been one sixth of their population (50,000,000 babies – 306,000,000 people) and then let illegal aliens come across the border to make up the deficiency in numbers, and while several ancient cultures had polygamy and homosexuality among the ruling elite, none ever codified homosexuality into anything like ‘gay marriages’. Of course the punishment that is coming upon the United States and the world may be for other things too, greed, avarice, hate, murder. Famine was a traditional Biblical punishment and it will be interesting to see if it is as bad as I wrote about in THE LAST DAYS…etc. and if we continue to deteriorate morally up until it hits us. There were three mayors in Mexico killed in the first two weeks of this year. Last year only 17 mayors were killed in the whole year. And 31 were killed and many decapitated in Acapulco in less than a week. You wouldn’t find me going into the war zone of Mexico if I won an all expense paid trip. I just heard of a big Mexican Drug bust in Myrtle Beach, SC, and while chapter 12 of my autobiography, LEAVING SOUTH CAROLINA is entitled, “Myrtle Beach and Drug Smuggling” it was Americans selling drugs years ago, now it’s bands of illegal aliens who like to cut off heads. That was never something that happened in the western world except on extremely rare occasions in the last hundred years. We are becoming an uncivilized nation and there are many who think we are headed for third world status and a new dark age is going to descend upon us. The Pope in Rome said as much month ago and while you may oppose his religion he is hardly a religious fanatic prone to say irrational things. He too can see the signs. All I can say is get ready. You will see less of me on here because it mainly the same people with the same complaints. Get ready. Learn about canning and non-perishable food, think like a pioneer, trust in God to lead you (make sure it’s God and not something else). You have heard it all before. Life as we know it is going to change more in the next 15 years than in the last 15 years, Remember 15 years ago when our biggest concern was Bill Clinton’s love life and stuff like that. From here on out it is going to get more and more interesting. Did you know that illegal aliens have committed in excess of one million sex crimes in this nation? That was true when I published my last book so it’s undoubtedly out of date by now. “May you live in interesting times” was an ancient Chinese curse, and I predict that the next two decades are going to be among the most interesting in the past several hundred years. Hope you are around to see. Just remember that you can always pray for guidance and direction and one of the things that can help you ascertain if the spirit you are in touch with is God or something else is this, a spirit from God will never tell you anything that conflicts with the Bible. That is a fail-safe but of course I’m talking about a common sense straight forward approach. Not some convoluted interpretation such as those who were going to protest the funerals in Tucson. They are misguided tools of the dark side. There are many things in the Bible that even those who read it frequently don’t see. Only God can help you understand some things but you won’t be the only one. To much to tell. Many who don’t know what I just said have been deceived and we have 3,000 cults in this country as a result. There will be those who would rather die than acknowledge God’s love for them and they may. However, it is not God’s way to force people or to use fear to convert them. In that Flashman’s complaints about zealots is somewhat accurate. There is only one God and he is the Creator of all that is. You can’t go wrong reading the gospels and ACTS for inspiration or the two books I have recommended elsewhere (other than my own). May we all someday discover how very much God loves us. God bless you and may you continue to grow.

  • Pat Ridge

I am Democrat(Kennedy Boy),I do not like Palin and what she stands for but I would not blame her for what happened in Arizona, the real problem and has been for many years is the easy access to guns. The sad thing after all the fuss dieds down about this latest massacre in Arizona,it will happen again and again. There is on average 11,000 Americans killed every year by gun fire, the figures for Europe are around 560 that includes Russia,Ukraine etc so thats twice the land mass and the population of the USA well the figures speak for itself.America’s love affair with guns has been one sad and deadly affair.

    • JoMama

PatRidge – owning guns – like it or not – is one of our rights as an a
      American citizen.
YOU don’t have to own a gun if you don’t want to. Period.

      • eddie47d

No Right gives anybody the right to abuse those Rights.

      • kate8

eddie, Most people are NOT abusing those rights. Only criminals abuse those rights, and they will always keep their guns.

    • ValDM

They may not be dying from gunshot wounds, but they are dying, none the less. Do you have statistics for knives, bludgeoning, poison, etc?
If someone wants to murder, they will. And the murder will take place with the item that comes the quickest to hand. People don’t just grab a gun, if they want to commit murder. Grabbing a gun takes some thought and planning. My point being, that murders DO occur in Europe, just not that many by guns. Lastly, this obviously mentally ill young man worked on Gabby’s campaign in 2007 as a volunteer. He had been stalking her. He had been sending her hate mail. He had been planning to do this. I would have happened with anything that he put his hand on if he had any skill with other weapons.

    • thinking

Pat not sure where your numbers came from but the car is more deadly than a gun, over 50,000 killed a year. In England they kill, maybe not with guns but knifes, bats whatever they get their hands on. Russia and all the Europe places also, man kills man! with or without guns. It is true more people are killed in America by guns but look at Florida when the right to carry became law fewer were killed, same in Texas and now when D.C. gun law was over turned the death rate by gun went down. These numbers are easy to find but rarely televised. Less than 50% of children live with two parents, there is little respect for others and we are greedy. We want what our neighbors has but many don’t want to work for it, like the lotto or all the gambling places in every state big win. Looking back 50 years there were guns but fewer killings. Is it movies? TV, radio, laziness? Take away the guns and these nut cases will build bombs or other weapons they see in movies or on TV. We as Americans have lost our moral compass.

      • Richard Pawley

Can’t disagree with what you have said. Sounds like you are quoting my politcally incorrect book, THE LAST DAYS OF THE LATE GREAT UNITED STATES and the Great Famine that Followed, as I wrote about this and gave actual (put politically incorrect) statistics in various countries and in our own capitol. However, the murder rate by gun took a significant jump of a couple of hundred percent when the government of England dis-armed their honest citizens. Of course the criminals didn’t give up up their guns and the population became easy prey. The same happened in Australia.

      • wayne

Thinking, wonder how the liberals would act if they were told their vehicles were being confiscated due to the fact that automobles kill more people than guns. Can you believe how their crap would hit the fan. Maybe we conservatives can give up our guns after the libs give up their vehicles. This does sound like a good trade off, doesn’t it?

    • marvin

      Pat Ridge
only thing i can tell you is move to someother countrys, i know mexico,,the people of mexico have no guns go their with a murder rate of 100 to 1000 a day [only cops and criminals have guns]i like my country and my guns will give up nether without a fight

      • HFlashman

        Marvin:

I’m not indicating what my view of the 2nd is in stating this…

but Mexico’s high murder rate by guns is due in large part because of the guns smuggled into Mexico from tis country.

They have as large a problem with smuggling across borders as we do. With us it’s undocumented workers looking for jobs from criminal employers screwing this nation and with drugs (though the drug smuggling issue is not to the large we are being told) … with Mexico, it’s guns guns and guns.

      • steve

uhhh… why mistah flashman do da guns be smuggled into mexico? do it be cuz dey some demand for ‘em? or,do it jus be a anomaly?

      • eddie47d

No,easy gun laws in Arizona help fuel the arms trade in that region.

      • http://?? Joe H.

Proven fact, less than 17% of the guns in Mexico come from the US!! We don’t manufacture true AK47s!!

      • wayne

And they (the Mexicans) are flooding this country with their illegal drugs. Of courses, this says we have two many pot heads in this country. If we could lessen our dependence on drugs, maybe their murder rate would drop. So you pot heads out ther who wnat to dimish the murder rate in Mexico, stop your use of illegal drugs. How can you lay your heads down at night, and go to sleep knowing your use of illegal drugs is contributing to these murders?

    • http://GOGGLE vaksal

To: Pat Ridge what you posted is correct about the 11.000 deaths in this country compared to other nation, but why didnt you post this hard cold truth,in those nations there officals enforce the laws dealing with criminals, and they dont house them, they exicute them, while here cry baby left wing people protect their rights ten times better than yours and mine, this shooting could have been stopped before it happened, all the signs were their, all that fat wind bagged sheriff,or his staff could have run a backround check on that worthless monster,to see the problems he had,but oh no point the finger on guns, that poor bunch of humanbeings died because those who were elected to protect the american people dropped the ball long ago,its called dereliction of duty, protecting the crazies rights more than yours or mine, and with the sole hard fact,do you think anyone in their right mind will have their rights to bear arms abriged,so a total police state can be put in place, just look at what these people didnt do,and dont get me wrong, taking a life is wrong, just on the same level of letting crazies, muderous criminals loose on the general public, because some sissy judge rules it as to severe to fry these law breaking peices of human garbage, and 90 percent of the time it is a left wing liberal judge doing it,but in truth it all or faults for not disbaring these types from being judges period, and honestly who can anyone trust, these leftwingers in power,if so do you remember waco and all those poor babies that died, wheres the rage over that murderous rampage caused by those in charge, and oklahoma bombing by a crazie, enforce the laws as they were written and guess what the nut jobs running around would think twice about killing innocent folks let alone so little child, the gun didnt do it that monster did, with the blessings of those who dont want to enforce the laws.myself i worry everyday, whats going to happen next? this sure isnt the america that our founding fathers established, and if this is the NEW WORLD ORDER,who needs it? to live in fear of criminals, murders, rapists, crazies, you name it,and what can we do? move to a safer country like russia or europe,i dont think so,just better to start hanging law breakers instead, but no the mommy mommy bunch crying about,oh we cant punish these evil types, now want to disarm everyone and throw out the right to free speech,i think everyone just best sit down and think about this finger pointing party going on,and start living by the laws as written.

      • http://?? Joe H.

It was saddening in a way though, Palin was given a rare chance that few are ever offered or afforded to speech to the whole nation with all it’s media and network coverage (“FREE” at no cost to her) at a delicate moment of great National sorrow, pain and confusion.

There is much she could have said, but she didn’t.

I do believe this poorly crafted news release will prove to be her Swam Song on the National stage.

But, it was only a matter of time before she got herself in water over her head anyway. So there is no great loss.

and I’m like you Norm, I heard no antisemitism. I feel as I understood her inference to blood-libel. She was basically rebuking any notions of liability to the shooting events and standing before us without guilt.

  • JoMama

Hey – did anyone else notice that Obama wants to support AZ now instead of boycotting it??
Or was he there because one of his fellow Democrats got hit??
I think all the Democrats are going to blame this all on something that the Republicans did or did not do.

Hey Obama – the guy who pulled the trigger on those innocent people in Tucson is responsible for this tragedy – not the Tea-partiers, not the Republicans, not Sarah Palin, not Rush Limbauh, not Glenn Beck, not Sean Hannity, not the poster from Sarah Palin – NO ONE ELSE!!
    YOU DOPE!!

    • Robert Smith

From Jo: “not Rush Limbauh, not Glenn Beck, not Sean Hannity,…”

      Really?

HOW can an industry like the Media be built on the notion that they can influence people to buy products on one hand and then claim they don’t have any influence on the other?

Who is lying? Those who make billions of advertizing or those who are beating their gums with hate messages?

      Rob

      • JoMama

I said that Jared Loughner was the ONE & ONLY person involved in killing & maming those people in AZ.
Some people make it seem as though he killed because he saw a poster of “crosshairs on her (Sarah Palin’s) website that targeted congressional districts”. Or because of Beck, Limbauh & Hannity are “beating their gums with hate messages”.
Screw you – get lost. Do not take my words out of context. They are plain & simple words.

      • marvin

        Robert Smith
only in america is it allowed to blame someone else for your trouble ,it was the bank that made me buy that house i could not afford ,it is allways someone else that made me do it,never man up and say it was my fault,i say if you are that easy to sway to murder inocent people, i would have put alot of dumbass people to sleep, that i dislike but unlike you i know who to blame ,it was a sick minded socialpath that had no bussiness being on the street all the flags were waving the great dem sheriff that has been in law enforcement for 40 years the school the parents his few friends the local cops ,but i forgot it was the right wing nuts fault

      • http://gunner689 gunner689

You confuse hate messages with the truth. Just because you don’t want to hear it or it doesn’t fit your world view doesn’t mean it’s not true. Whoever said that liberalism is a mental disorder is absolutely correct. What else do you call someone who can’t face reality or accept facts?

    • eddie47d

A very unfortunate response Jomama. Palin is a fire starter and quick with controversial comments. That is her right but let’s not put her on a pedestal. You need to re-think your thinking.

    • Karolyn

I haven’t heard him pointing the finger! Have you been dreaming?

      • eddie47d

His response was as insane as putting peanut butter on Brussel Sprouts.

      • kate8

Karolyn – BTW, Did you hear what the shooter’s friends said he was most influenced by? Christian broadcasting? NO!

        ZEITGEIST.

Gee, he probably found out about it from a blogger, too. Maybe you! Maybe YOU are responsible!

      • Karolyn

No, I hadn’t heard that one yet. Maybe you should watch it Kate. It might open your mind a little. I think you would like at least part of it because there is a part about government conspiracies. the movie is all-encompassing, neither right nor left, leaving no rocks unturned.

      • kate8

Karolyn – I watched Zeigeist a long time ago. I told you that already.

Maybe you should not be so easily influenced by every anti-God book and film that comes along. These people have an agenda, too.

I look at most everything, but I have a mind, too.

      • Karolyn

        As do I.

      • Karolyn

Kate I read no anti-God books, and neither was Zeitgeist.

    • wayne

JoMama, Obama is not a dummy. He is being forced toward the center as the presidential electtion is only two years away. His socialist mind has not changed any. Should he get voted back in again he will return to his direction to destroy America. He has fooled a lot of people. I will list another one of President Lincoln’s saying: This quote is directly from Lincoln himself: You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time. This quote reminds me of some of the liberal minds on this forum.

Gregory, yes, I admit that Obama did a superb job giving his speech. However, I like what Dr. Krauthammer said. Watch what a person does, not what they say. If you ever studied the Civil War (Gettysburg Address) speech that Lincoln gave in on Nov 19, 1863 you can relate to this. Lincoln gave his speech in just minutes. There was another speaker, Edward Everett who spoke for around 2 hours. Which speech had the best substance, and the most effect on the people? It was Lincoln’s short speech that went down in history as it had more effect, and merit than the Great Orator, Edward Everett. Obama may have given a good speech, but it also may be a lot of hot air. See this website for the rest: http://myloc.gov/exhibitions/gettysburgaddress/Pages/default.aspx

The liberals are showing their true colors now like never before, since the tragedy in Tucson. It’s good for the world to see just how sick and twisted the liberal mind set is. It’s good for the world to see just how much they hate our Constitution and especially the Bill Of Rights. We conservatives are getting a very good look at what the “Enemy Within” (Michael Savage) looks like. And that’s a good thing. We, the American People, need to know who and what the liberals REALLY are.

    • http://MozzelaFirefox Jo

The liberals only have one color, YELLOW! They’re running scared.

    • wayne

Richard, I don’t know how old you are, but look at the liberal, Jane Fonda. She sided with North Vietnam doing the war against her own country, and as a result a lot of our soldiers were killed. Take Senator John Kerry, he was another liberal doing the Vietnam War. He was involved with Jane Fonda. Even though these two extreme liberals were against their own country, people supported them by voting John Kerry in office and supported Jane Fonda by going to the movies she was involved in. I could never vote for a man like John Kerry, or go to a movie that Jane Fonda was in. I love my country too much to support people that are against our nation. I realize that the leaders in this country has made mistakes, but we all make mistakes. Some will admit to their mistakes, while others will not.

  • Polski

So Obama sucks, Dubya sucked, Palin sucks…..wonderful choices……

    • Richard

Polski: I wish John Bolton would run for president. I’m sick of having a weenie-in-chief who capitulates to foreign nations, some of which are our enemies. We need a COMMANDER-In-Chief who will be strong and not bow down to foreign heads of state and who will quit using our heroic Armed Forces as some kind of melting pot for social experimentation.

      • Robert Smith

Hey Richard, has the mass exit from the military started yet? Do you have any numbers to reflect that claim?

        Rob

      • Richard Pawley

Anyone who has been in the service knows you can’t just quit when you want to. If you could I think I would have called it quits about the third or fourth week of basic training, as that was the toughest physical training I had ever done, but in eight weeks I had put on 20 pounds of muscle and was in the best physical shape I had ever been in. I have a hunch our poor economy with 25 MILLION plus looking for work will encourage some to stay who might otherwise choose to leave when “their tour of duty is up.”

Obama pointed out that there woud be philosophical diffrences on that issue and “I won. So I think on that one, I trump you.”

I know…I know…we should have let the economy crash and not supported it with Stimulus monies. We should have let the finanical industry totally collapse, we should have let the auto industry collapse, we should not have sent monies for rebuilding infrastructure, we should not have extended unemploymet bennies for millions of unemployed, we should not have taken back the student loan programs, we should not have supprted the fed’s QE2 bond support program, etc.

We should have foreseen the slow down in China’s economy resultng in a mini trade and money war, we should have foreseen the economic crisis in Europe, and we should have backed off and let the secnd largest economy in the world (the EU) collapse as well.

Heck….we should have done exactly what everyone here screams they want…. a total collapse of the system and gone back to some ficticious romanticized era akin to the 30′s.

BTW…you do realize that overall on the support of our ndustry, we’ll make money on the deal …. correct? But that doesn’t matter…. we screwed up because we didn’t let the whole system collapse into anarchy…

To cash in on a tragedy such as what happened in Tucson is shameful. And the media should be concentrating on the shooter; he is responsible.

    • bobwire

I think there is enough “shame” to go around to where everyone get some.

      • kate8

Yeah. The Left immediate hurls accusations blaming rightwing politicians and talkshow hosts, and we aren’t supposed to fight back.

Had the Left not started this before ambulance left the scene, it wouldn’t have happened. They stir up the pot and then blame the Right for not just the actions of the perp, but for the name-calling, too!

I for one am fed up with villifying by the Left, which is nothing but a play for more power and more trashing of our rights.

      • bob wire

Ate up or fed up? I think you could sweat poison Kate

      • HFlashman

Errrr..Kate, you should get your facts straight. No one began anything ‘before the ambulance ” left the scene…they were all Life Flighted. There was no ambulance except those vehicles for the dead.

And be honest….was there not a thought crossing your mind before the real lunacy of the shooter was known…that it may well have been a TPer as the shooter? Or was that thought one that it was a liberal doing the shooting?

Finally…how about Palin’s lil’ vid that she was the target of a “blood libel’ … and the semitic overtones that phrase carries? Or Boehner turning down the invite to tide AF One to Tuscon..instead opting for attending a fundraiser at the same time the memorial was being conducted.

        Any comments?

      • kate8

Sarah was using the term ‘blood libel’ following a progressive talker having just previously used that term.

Geez. You libs are after me today. You’ll have to do better than that. I’ve taken more from smaller minds than yours.

        Knock yourselves out.

      • libertytrain

I just spent the time listening to her entire video. I see no anti-Semitic meaning in the way she used the term.

      • HFlashman

Actually Kate…in yet another time to get you to use facts instead of untruths…it was a videotaped statement she made and not responding to any “previous progressive’ statement.

Liberty..I never stated it was anti-Semitic. Even palin isn’t that stupid..well…..OK, just not this time. What I refr to is her use of ‘blood libel’ to compare the outrage of today with the false claims against Jews in legitimizing pogroms of the mid Dark Ages and later Rennaisance Age where the claims were made of matzah boiled in blood, eating christian children etc etc.

Opening a dialogue over the very real subject of the violent overtones of the Right and the TPers is “blood libel” with all it’s overtones? Really?

      • libertytrain

I know the origins of the term. However, many terms have ugly origins and then these same terms are later used with a slightly different connotation. Perhaps in this case it could be construed that she meant the pundits, etc were draining the blood of the innocents.

      • libertytrain

I’m sorry Flashman but your last line made “Saturday Night Live” pop into my imagery. “Really.”

I just saw an ex girl friend of the killer interviewed…she says he hated gov’t and thought it was ‘crap’. So,despite all the arguments for him being a rightwingers or left,he appears to be an anti gov’t guy. Can anyone tell me which political party has been demonizing the Federal gov’t for the past many yrs? Can anyone imagine that a mentally ill kid could be influenced by all the hate directed at the gov’t and maybe decide to act on the hate and vile comments made about the gov’t?

No one does much of anything in a vacuum, good or bad. A part of our society set the stage for an unbalanced and confused young man to act on the words and tone of millions of anti gov’t adults, and now 6 are dead, and one a 9 yr old little girl.

      • Dogma-Free

        Exactly, Bob.

And even more, I was utterly appalled in the way that Sarah Palin tried to cash in on the shooting victims of the Tucson gun tragedy by trying to perpetuate the notion that she herself was also a victim!! Deplorable!

That woman has zero shame, zero self-worth, and zero credibility, and she has no business being in politics.

She allowed herself to be used as a tool (a complete tool, at that) of one of the most prominent examples of social engineering since the 9/11 ‘incident’ was used to rally support for the unlawful invasion of Iraq.

Clearly the current batch of Republicans have no shame whatsoever, and Palin just needs to be ignored until she just goes away. It’s really as simple as that.

      • kate8

        Sarah Palin cashed in?!!!!

OMG. You guys are real pieces of work.

      • kate8

And yes ! Special Interest concerns have yet to be address and for good reasons ~ they are the Generals perched on a hilltop watch the battle from a safe distance so their name doesn’t get mentioned and they stay unsoiled from the fray.

      • kate8

bw – Of course I’m talking about BP. I can’t control where the post shows up on the thread.

How is it that we have an exec for a major oil company heading the department of energy? It seems Odumbo has stacked the government with corporate interests all the way around. (Goldman-Sachs…)

      • Denniso

Poor Sara Palin…she lobs violent rhetoric for a couple of yrs, then when people say there could be a link w/ the Tucson killer, she feels personally victimized and attacked. So, she has to deliver a proffessionally produced video w/ the flag behind her on the morning of the day for the memorial to honor the real victims. She could have either kept her mouth shut or waited until after the memorial. That’s how the phrase ‘cashed in’ is somewhat appropriate. She was trying to ‘cash in’ politically w/ her pathetic video, which made her look/sound so differently than she normally does,I was actually amazed how they ‘cleaned her up’.
Hopefully this blatant attempt at self serving politics will doom her politically and she’ll retire to the big money of television.
