Our Man Of The Year

December 31, 2010 by

Our Man Of The Year

As we reported yesterday, President Barack Obama is the 2010 “Most Admired Man In America,” according to a Gallup poll.

He was followed, in order, by former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, former African President Nelson Mandela and Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Interesting choices all, and they demonstrate one of two things. Either there is a dearth of people to admire or the masses are clueless about who these people really are.

Obama is a Marxist and former member of an American socialist party (a fact conveniently overlooked by the mainstream media) and a union tool who was not properly vetted, was ill-prepared and probably ineligible to hold the office of the President. Bush is a faux conservative One Worlder who bloated our government with social spending, stole our freedoms with the USA PATRIOT Act and other tyrannical legislation and embarked on a campaign of expanding empire America. Clinton is a serial adulterer, accused rapist, convicted perjurer and tool of the Bilderbergers. Nelson Mandela is a former terrorist — of course one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter (see Bill Ayers) — and long-time socialist whose claim to fame is he spent 27 years in prison and was subsequently given god-like status by Leftists and the mainstream media upon his release. Bill Gates is a One Worlder, Bilderberger and promoter of mass vaccination — something those brainwashed by Big Pharma propaganda and the mainstream media think is a good thing — who believes the world’s population should be reduced (of course, no Gates would ever turn up on a list of those to be reduced, just Smiths, Joneses, Taylors and some third world names we can’t spell or pronounce).

Reading about the poll got me to thinking: If Gallup polled me — which they didn’t, nor have they ever — who would I name? It took a while, but I decided on newly-elected Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.

All he did was defeat the Republican establishment in the Kentucky Senate primary and then the whole political establishment in the November election. And he did so with a cool aplomb while being savagely attacked on spurious charges of racism and kookery, never raising his voice or looking the least bit defensive. Despite the rantings of mainstream Republicans like Michael Steele and Mitch McConnell and raving Leftists like Mara Liasson, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann, Rand remained a statesman, responding to invective with rational, coherent arguments.

Here’s hoping Rand’s dad Ron Paul makes a run at the Presidency in 2012. If he’s unsuccessful, Rand will be primed and ready by 2016.

Man of the year? Not hardly…that would go to someone who did not lie to the voters, lie about his place of birth, lie about balancing the budget and cutting spending and creating jobs, hey, the list would take too long to write.

Instead of this charlatan, I elect myself the new Gallup Poll and vote for Rand Paul, followed by Glen Beck, Mike Huckabee, and hundreds of marines, soldiers, airmen, and sailors putting their butts on the line fighting a war far from here, that Mr. Obama also lied about when he said he would get us out of those sinkholes in the sand, wanted by no one and needed by no one. Neither of those wars are worth one American life.

  • Norm

It should come as no surprise. After running a campaign in which he made many idiotic statements, including telling Americans they should work for less, telling coal miners a certain amount of them dying is fine as long as profit is maintained, and telling Americans they should repeal the Civil Rights Act Rand Paul could not even wait to be sworn in to make an idiot of himself yet again. I guess Kentuckians are just gluttons for punishment with Paul taking over for erratic Senator Bunning or maybe they just do not mind being a laughing stock.
Sorry Bob, I think Rand is the idiot of the year.

    • eddie47d

Paul has flipped flopped on many issues already after meeting with Mitch McConnell. He can be influenced like any politician.

      • Bob Wire

he’ll have too eddie, if he’s to ever stay in the game long enough to be effective.

Interesting dynamics ~ the way politics can be played out. ~ We need people on the inside but without the pressure from outside, there is limits to their effectiveness regardless of their position.

Yet, while we see the more effective the inside can be, the more despised they can be.

If Harry Reid and Nancy didn’t have the support outside, they could never have been effective. They didn’t achieve want they did without strong outside pressure.

But as we hear so many say, “They are cramming it out our throats!” which is total bull hockey as these people wish to ignore or discount outside pressures, a common view of exclusive FOX watches.

Nobody likes the game when they are losing yet love the game when they are winning.

      • Vigilant

“But as we hear so many say, “They are cramming it out our throats!” which is total bull hockey as these people wish to ignore or discount outside pressures, a common view of exclusive FOX watches.”

Perhaps you don’t get the news where you live. When the majority of Americans were against Obamacare and the Congress passed it into law, I would call that cramming it down our throats. The 2010 election was perhaps another bit of news you misssed.

It’s not ignorance or discounting of outside pressures that animates Fox watchers, it’s the very fact that those oputside pressures exist that pisses us off and we wish to make the pols more accountable.

      • Bob Wire

“Perhaps you don’t get the news where you live. When the majority of Americans were against Obamacare and the Congress passed it into law, I would call that cramming it down our throats. The 2010 election was perhaps another bit of news you missed.”

NEWS? ~ I question what you are calling News?

I’ll keep it simple,~ and the proof of this “majority” you offer us how?

How do you provide this proof of majority? 2010 election returns? ~ Many were claiming a majority a year prior to 2010 election returns?

Seems you wish to be deaf to the voice of opposition and only hear your own voice. That happens when anyone only allows themselves limited input, select their coverage of current events.

The 2010 was midterm election, ~ the youth vote failed to show up and most likely 30 % of the overall DNC vote as they tend to not as politically active as their counterpart and don’t bother with midterm elections. They should! but that’s just the way is been working.

But read into it what you wish, your miscalculations are most welcome. If you think you went against all the DNC’s might midterm, ~ fine with me.

I personally think you are over playing your hand but lead out Kingfish.

When you call your elected representative and voice your opinions, I consider that “OUTSIDE” support or opposition and what I meant when I used the term.

But you are correct, all outside support is not necessarily a good thing.

The TEA Party is outside support, is it not?

HCR went through and was passed because of outside support and in spite of outside opposition with the power of the House and Senate.

How hard is it to accept the fact, you simple lost?

Even now, ~you wish to believe it’s not over! ~ maybe it’s not.

But~ by the time the power is mustered to repeal it, too many “money men” would have positioned themselves to gain from HCF in it’s proposed form and will fight any repeal of it.

So I really think we are stuck with it, for better or worse.

      • Vigilant

        Bob,

“HCR went through and was passed because of outside support and in spite of outside opposition with the power of the House and Senate.

“How hard is it to accept the fact, you simple lost?”

Hide and watch. The fat lady hasn’t sung yet.

      • Vigilant

Bob, you may want to check out http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/02/upton-predicts-significant-bipartisan-support-health-care-law-repeal/

“A top House Republican said Sunday that he expects “significant” bipartisan support for a proposed repeal of the health care overhaul — a vote he said would be held before President Obama’s State of the Union address.”

    • Conservative at Birth

I now nominate you, eddie47, and HFlashman for reigning idiots of the decade.

      • eddie47d

Hey you left out Norm in your usual pathetic name calling. Have a Happy New Year!! Mail that idiot award to my post office box in Cuba. LOL

      • Vigilant

My vote goes to Eric Bischoff, though I haven’t seen his postings recently.

    • ValDM

Don’t know too much about Rand, but I think a man that bears watching is Mike Pence. What he does, he does quietly, but distinctly. Look him up and see.

      • JMichael

        I’m from Indiana,Pence is a JERK,just like Burton.

      • American Citizen

I’m also from Indiana, and we need more like him up that in D.C.

      • American Citizen

        “up there”

    • DaveH

So, those coal miners have no minds of their own, Norm? Is that what you’re saying? If they think a job is too dangerous, they’re not smart enough to seek other work?
You should quit being so condescending to coal miners, Norm.
We all know the Liberals are more capable of spending our money than we are, Norm (until other peoples’ money is exhausted at least).

Speaking of that, in a study it was found that Liberals donate 30% less to charity than do Conservatives. And Conservatives on average earn 6% less than do Liberals. Of course that doesn’t count the donation of other peoples’ money or Liberals would win hands down.

      • DaveH
      • JeffH

DaveH is correct with his charitable donation figures. Also, the “working poor” donated more per dollar earned than the middle class or the rich.

      • Vigilant

I admit that I’ve pondered the intelligence of (unionized) coal miners, who vote for Obama even though Obama’s going to put them out of work if he gets his way with cap and tax.

      • JUKEBOX

Everyone that votes needs to go observe the coal mining regions in America to see the conditions firsthand. In some areas the conditions are worse than Watts, Detroit or Harlem, yet these people are proud, hard working, and as gullible as any historic Democrat voters.

  • Copperman

No one asked me,as far as I am concerned he could make easy the list of the most hated ( and this is sad ) people, my republican friends would have not opted for GWB, my democratic ones definitely not for Obama, and someone with the money as Gates will always be admired what doesn’t mean respected or agreed. And who cares about the guy in South Africa?

    • eddie47d

Because he changed a nation and brought freedom to millions of South Africans without an all out civil war. That is fairly impressive or do you approve of apartheid?

      • Conservative at Birth

        Maybe I do.

      • JMichael

How does that fence feel,up the crack of your butt??

      • jukebox

Obviously you went to a government school. My history book says it was Nelson Mandela who ended apartheid, not Barry Soetoro or Barak Obama Sr.

      • eddie47d

We are talking about Nelson Mandela so pay attention!

      • JC

eddie are you aware that Mandela sanctioned bombings and murder?
That’s why he was in prison BTW.
So that said, you won’t mind if say…I were to support the IRA in their war on England?

It’s pretty much the same scenario.

      • eddie47d

If the Irish truly felt enslaved by the British then maybe their actions were justified. I never really saw that in their struggle in Northern Ireland and thought most of the bombings were unnecessary.I guess you could enlighten me on that.

      • Vigilant

To be completely fair, David Ben Gurion, Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat were all terrorists in their early days as well.

      • libertytrain

I imagine in the beginning days of their country, Golda didn’t sit around either.

      • DaveH

Oh yeah, he brought Freedom to South Africa — #72 on the Economic Freedom rankings:
        http://heritage.org/index/Ranking

      • DaveH

They are pretty free, though if you only compare them to other African countries:
        http://heritage.org/index/Country/SouthAfrica

      • JC

Dave my wife and I know a couple from S.Africa. From what they tell me it is an extremely lawless country where you need to put on a gun along with your socks and underwear everyday. Infrastucture is crumbling. Murder is rampant. And it’s not a question of whether a white woman will be raped, so much as “when”.
Yeah…Mandela’s done a fine job alright.

      • eddie47d

Their financial ranking has indeed gone down so I can’t disagree on that. No man should live as a slave and Apartheid did just that. During that same period black women were raped by those whites and nothing was done about it. An unhappy scenario for all women under both systems.

      • JC

Black people were not enslaved under apartheid. They were given the majority of the country in which to live in their indigenous fashion “apart” from the white people….”apartheid”, get it?
No one held a gun to their heads to live or work among the whites.
In fact, the system of apartheid was based on the American Indian system of reservations. Which is not a great system either.
But I doubt we would condone the Indians coming into cities and bombing people.

No Mandela is not a “great” man. He is a terrorist who’s talents couldn’t maintain, let alone build what he inherited in S.Africa.

      • JUKEBOX

Some of these African countries are wonderful examples of prosperity and advancement. Just look at all the beautiful, prosperous plantations that have been seized by the natives in the past few years and allowed to revert back to their natural state. That is the real meaning of progress to liberals. Most of our prosperous industrial cities have been reduced to similar wastelands by the Progressives.

  • Bert Cundle

I’m Checking the box OR Writeing in TRUMP! ’12!

    • Copperman

      Excellent

  • Glen Stevenson

I can think of at least three I admire, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. My most despised would be Obama, Harry Reed and Chuck Schummer.

    • Norm

      Glen Stevenson
Your heros are laughing all the way to the bank.
Like Jim Jones, if you can con enough non-thinkers, you can be a hero.

      • Margaret W.

        Hi Norm,

Two of the non-thinkers conned by Jim Jones was President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter.

      • jukebox

That’s why it is referred to as “DRINKING THE LIBERAL KOOLAID”.

      • Bob Wire

Hmm, well being a dumba$$ is not limited by party affiliation I assure you. ~ Yes, you can find pictures of Jim Jones and the Carters together.

You can also find pictures of Stalin and Churchill together.

As far as singing Glenn Beck’s praises today the last day of 2010 and what is known public record, would place you in the ticket line for a flight to Uganda.

This man is a charlatan and that’s all he’s ever been. A traveling carnival elixir pitchman, a barker and a very good one that Rupert Murdock has found favor and offered a platform as it serves Fox and the Fox agenda. Like minds love Beck and his message, hanging to every word he says, they relate.

and Some people breast feed until they are 8.

      • American Citizen

You just don’t like what you hear. He speaks truth.

      • Bob Wire

He speaks his and your truths, that I will agree. As I said, Beck has appeal to like minds.

This~ you are entitled, but entitlement is not now or has ever been validation of sound reasoning.

Division of thought is rarely so blessed.

And for the record, I agree with some things Beck brings forward on a very gut level, but education, prudence and temperance overrides the knee-jerk response to act-out. It isn’t like I don’t have a clues where he’s coming from, but that I know he’s attempting to appeal to rage and the most outrageous among us to affect change, that somehow, ~ any means justifies a desired end.

This just can not be, cannot be permitted to happen and honor the Constitution and Rules of Law most of us accept and willing to work inside a framework of “due process”

We can’t yell, “Bring them out here sheriff, we plan to give them a fair trial and hang’em!”

Beck, speaks treasonous thoughts and I’m left to think you might as well. Myself, for now, ~I refuse, not seeing the situation so dire as to throw us into revolution with any outcome being most uncertain with human loss and suffering grand for all. Such an event would only serve America’s enemies and bring your loyalties to serous question.

      • JeffH

Bob Wire…I’ll add that it is like minds that also support the Marxism/socialist/communists that have been infecting and running this country for decades now.

I suppose,if you were a participant in the Democratic Underground or even like minded, you might believe Beck is committing treason…but I don’t think there is a gram of validity to a statement like that…I’d say it was absurdly biased.

…even some people prefer to breast feed off of the government teat ’til they’re death!

      • Vigilant

        Bob Wire:

Interesting and wholly inaccurate assessment of a man whose primary goal is to get us back to the original intent of the Founders and the Constitution. As for treaon, Beck is one of the few who say, (1) “violence is NEVER an option,” and (2) “never take my word for it, do your own research.”

You are entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own “facts.”

      • JUKEBOX

Rush Limbaugh coined the phrase before Beck started using it, so don’t be so quick to “ASSUME”. You know what that does!

      • Vigilant

Norm says, “Like Jim Jones, if you can con enough non-thinkers, you can be a hero.”

You’re on the wrong website, friend. If you’re looking for non-thinkers, try Huffington Post, Media Matters and other sites for the cretins and idiots who swallow your bilge.

      • Norm

“There are no facts, only interpretations.”
        - Friedrich Nietzsche

      • Vigilant

Strange to see a leftie using material from one of the fathers of fascism. Then again, not so strange at all.

      • JUKEBOX

About the only difference between National Socialists and the Obama ideologies is the time frame and skin color.

Don’t forget Narrow ‘narcosis’(from Liberalism), Nauseating, Neaptide, Necromancer, Nefarious, Nihilist(esp.ANYTHING Conservative), Narsisistic Nancy PEWK-lousy.

I say Glenn BECK, for history ENLIGHTENMENT !
How ’bout Micheal SAVAGE for Sectary Of State ? !!

    • Harold Olsen

I admire Rush but not Hannity or Beck. Hannity gives me the impression that he has no real political convictions and he takes the stand he does purely because that’s the stand he thinks he should be taking. He can’t even decide if he’s a Republican or an Independent. Months ago he said on his show that he no longer considered himself to be a Republican but an Independent. Lately, though, I’ve noticed he’s again referring to himself as a Republican. As for Beck, he’s nothing but a buffoon. I agree with you on Obama, Reid and Schumer. They are nothing but low life scumbags.

      • Bob Wire

of the three, you choice wisely. Rush is the only true heavy weight among them.

      • Vigilant

But Beck will ultimately have more influence on molding public opinion than Rush.

      • Bob Wire

considering the nature of Becks audience, possibly so.

Beck is a showman and his followers, the true believers will buy whatever he is selling.

Beck has got Rupert to pull his chestnuts out of the fire which offers him much protection and latitude.

Rupert is no stranger hard ball business and what it takes to build and maintain an image. He has few limits that I’m aware of. Beck is to be with us awhile it seems.

      • JUKEBOX

If you look at the flip side of that coin, what about the Obamaphiles who believe every word out of his mouth as “SET IN STONE”?

  • Devasahayam

Why was David Cameron (new PM of UK, a conservative with the fortitude to actually CUT “sacred” spendings, and also to call a spade a spade–which he did from Delhi, specifically so the perpetrators and their sponsors would get the message) not on the list?

(misconception that Cameron made his comments to please his hosts in India–although they did–in reality, he laid the blame squarely correct for 2005/07/07 which was planned in India’s western neighbour, the Naziesque imploding nation of Pakistan aka “Pornistan”)

  • Flying Eagle

I’m not surprised Gallup has nominated President Obama as the most admired man in America (?), 2010 has been the year of the radical left. Did at any time Gallup mentioned President Reagan as the most effective President of this country? not that I remember.

I was never polled and if so, I would’ve given him a NO PASSING GRADE.

Gallup should’ve focus on what Obama is trying to do our country and nominate him as the “Man who hates America”.

  • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Randy 131

Did you ever think that it may have been a faulty poll, taken of just liberal journalist? The respondents were undoubtably democratic republic hating individuals who are backers of socialistic and communistic change through Fascist Marxism, such as Obamalites. Maybe the poll was taken from just Obama appointed Czars, then the results would be understandable. However it was done, it was surely not the opinions of the American people in general, us common folk that make up the tremendous majority in these United States of America. But whatever, you must remember the source, a liberal rag that is on its way to bankruptcy. Maybe the gist of the faux poll was to entice people to buy the magazine because of incredulity. Just totally unbelievable.

    • eddie47d

Why don’t you go out and find out how polls are conducted instead of throwing around your nonfactual rantings. The Gallup poll doesn’t use the Democrats directory or the Republicans phone book.So get real!

      • Conservative at Birth

How do you know how polls are taken? Can you disprove that they are not contrived?

      • eddie47d

Can you prove that a national poll is contrived? I’m not talking about selective polls run by Republicans or Democrats.(or) Polls run by the NRA or The Brady Campaign would favor one or the other. National Pollsters are quit accurate in percentage points and on many issues.

      • Vigilant

eddie, I find myself (uncomfortably) in agreement with you yet again. The proven track record of a polling organization is the best indicator of its accuracy. Gallup and Rasmussen have very high successful prediction rates.

      • eddie47d

Looks like we are both uncomfortable with each other but that makes life interesting. Thanks and enjoy the New Year. ,

      • Vigilant

        eddie,

We have our differences and become volatile at times, which is not to either of our credit.

I’ll attempt more civility in the coming year.

      • jukebox

I do know that many times the polls are conducted in areas selected by the organization paying for the poll, in order to get the desired results

      • JC

        Exactly.

      • American Citizen

Most polls are rigged to get the desired results.

      • American Citizen

You can tell that by the questions that are asked.

      • Al Sieber

A.Citizen, most elections are rigged too.

  • HenryfromFlorida

Using the gallop poll to figure out America’s frame of mind is as foolish as using the Dow jones to determine how the economy is doing. The dow is not America it is about big money buying low and selling high usually twice a week. It means nothing just like the gallop

    • American Citizen

You must not have investments in the markets. We who do are very much concerned how they do. Oh, by the way, we’re not rich by any means.

  • TOCB

Why do people praise politicians for being elected? Rand Paul hasn’t done anything yet. If you want to give accolades to someone for the Paul election, shouldn’t it be to the Kentucky voters? I guess that is what polls are for, to get the opinions of those polled. If you poll more Democrats than Republicans the poll would probably favor Obama and Clinton. If you poll more Republicans than Democrats that poll would probably favor Palin and Bush. Even the polls that really count, ie elections, only poll from 50%-60% of elgible votes as the rest don’t participate. This “democracy” Or “democratic republic” has passed over many great leaders due to lack of participation of elgible voters.

    • http://none ucsjimj

Did you not read the list of attackers, God must have helped to overcome these rants by the left! I say God Bless this man.

    • Vigilant

Hate to say it, but it needs to be said: America gets the leaders it deserves. Since we are a center-right population, both sides deserve the results if they don’t vote.

  • Mo Better

If that Gallup poll had been conducted in order to identify the Worst Enemy of the American people then, hands down, Barry Soetoro is the winner, and the rest of the pack, George Bush, Clinton-The-Snake and Bill-The-Elitist Gates would be in select company.

Who knows what the hell some of these people are thinking when they throw Mandela into the mix, another faux hero the likes of Cassius Clay-The-Mohammedan, Tiger Woods, Jesse Jackson, Al Tawana Brawley Sharpton and Charley Rangel.

It took the dumbest electorate comprised of certifiable dullards, know-nothings, bleeding heart liberal morons, and their ilk to elect the Muslim-In-Chief to the pRESIDENCY; this is just reflective of the shallowness of their beliefs. Get to work folks or the curtain will fall on America in 2012.

    • http://none ucsjimj

That was Sooooo Good! Thank you for clearing the air.

  • Alan

Thanks America. You’ve proven once again the power of the Internet. Our Poll here today proves that Obama is not Man of the Year. And I hope that one day soon we prove to those trying to shape us into their little clones, that we can and will continue to think for ourselves.

    • http://personalliberty.com frank

Obama ! man of the year? What a joke. Where are these polls taken in Pelosi’s office. Obummer is a hate america president who is intent on destroying our great country . As for going to the capital and taking care of some of the slime as one of our voicers mentioned we should start with the notorius ly liberal main stream media that goes out of thier way to promote this administrations COMMUNIST agenda.Come to think of it they are probably the ones who took the Gallup poll in Pelosi’s office .

      • bear

We can haggle over this Obama man of the year crap till the cows come home but we ALL know he deserves this like he deserved to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. All of this crap is leftist, liberal constructed to try to make the silk purse out of the sow’s ear. Real Americans who are able to think for themselves and are able to put all the peices together know what’s really going on and we know that cutting off the tail of a rattlesnake will not do the job.

“Real Americans who are able to think for themselves and are able to put all the peices together know what’s really going on…”

According to this poll, it looks like Obama should receive either the incompetent or imposter Girley/Man of the year award.

The Gallop Poll called me the other night and asked a bunch of stupid questions. The first question was if and how I voted in the last election. I said I voted the Libertarian ticket, which seemed to baffle the caller. I then cut the call short because it was a waste of time.

    • eddie47d

You hung up so your voice wasn’t heard and then you complain that your voice isn’t heard!

    • jukebox

I wonder if Gallup is using pollsters in Bangladesh or Calcutta.

    • JC

When the selection of questions offered is carefully framed to elicit specific answers…it’s definately an orchestrated waste of time.

      • American Citizen

You’re right, I’ve often wondered what the pollster put as my answer as the answer I would give wasn’t there. Those polls are rigged to get the intended result. I was even hung up on once when I didn’t give the expected answer as to my political affiliation.

      • Vigilant

Let go lightly on the pollsters. Gallup has a pretty fair track record for accuracy or they wouldn’t have remained in business for so many decades.

Admit it, the “American Idol” mentality has reigned superior for some time now. Most libs get their 10 minutes of tripe from the lamestream media and believe they are “knowledgeable” on current events, politics and history. If they even watch the “news,” that is.

Ask them to name five Founding Fathers of the United States and they are clueless. Ask about why we celebrate Thanksgiving and they scratch their heads. Most don’t even know the century during which the Civil War was fought. Ask about about any of the popular sitcoms, American Idol or top songs and they’ll be able to write a doctoral dissertation on them.

The real question is who will change who … Boehner and McConnell didn’t get where they are by being a couple of nice guys. They learned the rules and moved up the leadership ladder, do you think they will just step aside for the new guys and let them make all the decisions? One of the first thing a new congressman learns is to stay there, you must raise money and that is the secret to those in leadership have learned … they then use this money to reward those that go along with them and giving them select positions on committees. Ask Michelle Bachman about that. The game has always been rigged … and no amount of bluster and promises will change it, the names may change but game still remains the same!

Most admired man in whose eyes? No one asked me either. I do not know anyone that was asked. Where do they get bogus info like that anyway? I can only guess they polled the folks at MSNBC news, CBS news, and ABC news. They are probably are the only three groups that would have answered like that other than our enemies overseas that love Obam because he is disarming America and destroying capitalism as we know it. I can see some of his voters that are still under his spellthat don’t know any better voting for him but most re beginning to see they light as more folks are realizing that he was more interesting in taking over the economy and healthcare than he was in creating jobs and fixing our domestic problems such as dying small business and the housing industry. Truth be told and reported correctly Obama would be one of the most despised men in America.

    • eddie47d

Capitalism needed to be kicked in the teeth for all the shenanigans they pulled just a short few years back. Sadly you have forgotten or have selective memory. You can all talk about refreshing America with the blood of patriots but are somewhat silent on refreshing the misdeeds of Capitalism. With the disarming issue you brought up; All our troops, weaponry, and expansionism hasn’t made us any safer so maybe it’s long overdue. Our allies don’t rally around us anymore and are turning to other nations to help solve the world problems. That slide began awhile back so don’t be throwing your Obama card at me. Let Obama rise or fall on his own merit not from right wing thuggery and false labels.

      • jukebox

You talk about right wing thuggery, HA HA. What do you call Charlie Rangel, William Jefferson, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Richard Trumpka, Andy Stern, and all of those Democrat millionaires who have gotten rich off the working class of people. I could admire Bernie Madoff better, because at least he didn’t steal his billions while holding any elective office.
PS: In my 71 years, I have never been asked one question by Gallup, and I have been in a position to be polled many times. I have been exit polled by a local station once in my life.

      • eddie47d

Charles Rangel was once a good guy but when good people do bad things they also need to be punished. He should be forced to pay what is due and then resigned. The same with capitalist corporations and their misdeeds. Time to put a few more CEO’s in jail and reorganize those companies. Quite a few got a free pass and even retirement bonuses. What a system.

      • Conservative at Birth

What false lables are you talking about? If you choose igorance over knowledge you are a fool. What Capitalist shenaigans are you talking about? Are you forgetting the repeal of the Glass-Steagal act by Bill Clinton, which is the main cause of the Ecomomic Housing Bubble that had to burst at some point? Or are you forgetting Janet Reno’s threats against the large Banks, if they didn’t make loans to people who could not afford to repay them? Yes Bush continued the insanity, but did try to reign in Fannie and Freddie as early as 2003. You need to be more factual and specific in your comments. For the most part I ignore your and Flashmans post, because they are not worth reading.

      • eddie47d

Don’t kid yourself Conservative you read everything I print and respond often. You have selective memory also on AIG,Lehman Bros.,Enron, Keating Savings and Loan, Goldman Sacs, Citi Bank,Wachovia, Pharmaceutical Companies and plenty more. Both parties ,yes but capitalism all.

      • jukebox

I thought capitalism was a mortal sin among the Progressive ranks, except when it involved their esteemed leaders.

      • JC

We’ve never had real “Capitalism”. Never!
What we’ve had is Corporate interests and Government interests getting in bed with each other to divvy up the pie.
Pure capitalism is self regulating by the simple law of supply and demand.
Socialism, Progressivism, Communism and MORE Government are simply not the answer. They are the problem.

The only real capiatalists out there are the ones you and I patronize every day. the businesses and stores we use are capitalist by definition, but are being choked to death through taxation and regulation.

They are being extorted out of existence.

      • Dagney

By your rants against capitalism, it’s obvious you have no clue what it is. Since we have not had real capitalism in this country since the 1800′s, I suppose you can be forgiven your ignorance. Capitalism is nothing but free market economics. Self-interest, as opposed to the selfISHness of CRONY capitalism. Please do read up a bit more before posting, the ignorance you show does not recommend you.

      • JeffH

Jc and Dagney…you, and quite a few regulars on this site, fully understand what crony capatalism is all about…HEAR HEAR!

      • Joyce from Loris

I am a small business owner, and work very hard for my “capitol”. Since Obama took office, there has been 200 new rules from the EPA, 100 new regulations from the Department of Labor, 183 new agencies formed for Obamacare, 540 new rules, 170 new reports required from the Financial Regulation Bill. Whew, and that was ALL on top of the regulations, rules, ect., that was ALREADY in place to destroy every business owners opportunity to make money, grow their business and hire new employees. I am expecting to close my business in the next few weeks. I just can’t keep up with all these regulations and requirements. NO ONE can. If business owners operate exactly according to the requirements of the government, both state and federal, they CAN NOT OPERATE. It’s madness.

      • eddie47d

If Capitalists do something bad then you all run with your tails between your legs and deny it’s very existence. If it hasn’t been around for 110 years then maybe you ought to stop gloating about how wonderful it is. The whole term should cease to exist if what is going on now isn’t capitalism. Put it in the dustbin of history right along with communism if you can’t fix it.

      • Vigilant

        eddie,

You are the same type of person who condemns religion because human beings who happen to call themselves “religious” have killed people. You diss Capitalism because PEOPLE who were Capitalists have done bad things.

You’ll find few people in this world amongst the Christians and Capitalists, who would laud the nefarious actions of those who game the system and/or use the title to opportunistically enrich themselves.

If you had a scintilla of honesty in you, you would admit that it has been the liberal influences of lawlessness and secularism that have created the bad players in the world, NOT conservative influences.

      • eddie47d

You laud them all the time Vigilant with your deafening silence on the big boys who commit crimes. You know, in that capitalistic world that doesn’t really exist. When it comes to religion you condemn the few Muslims who commit terrorism as evil (rightfully so)but then condemn all Muslims as evil. So your hypocritical point against me is null and void. You want Muslims all over the world to apologize for the misdeeds of a few yet don’t expect the same from Christians. Pat Robertson preaches hatred do you condemn him. Do you condemn Mr Swartzsman who is making billions as a hedge fund manager from nefarious actions. He hardly shows Christian values so are you making him accountable in how he manipulate the worlds economy out of greed. His actions reflects on our status as a nation and controls a lot of money that is being misused. Some of these CEO’s do their misdeeds right in front of our faces and are so emboldened with arrogance that they feel untouchable. That’s a declining moral fabric they few like to talk about.

      • Vigilant

How in God’s name do you come up with this drivel? You attribute to me things I’ve either said or not said, like a weaver of deception, out of whole cloth. In short, sir, you are a liar.

      • Dan

Yes Norm, I agree that capitalism had some missteps and mistakes were made, but socialism is certainly not the answer! That has been tried and discredited everywhere else in the world. Let’s fix what is broken but not scrap the entire system. I own a small business, and small businesses represent everything that is good about capitalism, and they can only function with freedom from excessive regulation and taxation. We currently have one of the most inept and corrupt administrations in American history, and I am not speaking as a Republican or a Democrat. The entire idea that the federal government can efficiently run our health care system is absurd! Our elected officials (and I use that term lightly) could not even operate a lemonade stand and stay in budget. How about telling government that they should work for less, and to get the hell out of our lives. Sorry, but Obama had idiot of the year sewed up before anyone ever heard of Rand Paul. Don’t blame me either, I did NOT vote for him!

      • Dagney

Please stop validating a premise that is ignorant. Capitalism has not existed in this country for at least 100 years.

We should listen to Eddie. He knows all about “kicked in the teeth” and “thuggery” being a left-wing Union member.

      • eddie47d

Here’s your favorite “left winger” Dave. Union “thuggery” doesn’t even come close to what has been happening in Americas financial world. Your ilk thinks everyone who wears a suit and tie and makes big money is your hero. When they are some of the biggest crooks in US history. Why has Capitalism been allowed to sprew toxic assets (credit default swaps, etc)around the globe. Devastating whole communities and even countries? If “true” capitalists didn’t stop their shenanigans then they are part of the problem. Why aren’t Hedge Fund Mgrs. (who do make billions) taxed on their income like other Americans? They pay 15% vs. 28-35 % for the rest of us. I suppose “true” capitalists disown them too. Steven Schwarzman is the leader of that band of thieves. Why do they get this huge tax loophole where they can actually bet against America? More Free Enterprise for the unsuspecting dumb downed Americans and you seem to love it. As a minor note ; One Hedge Fund Mgr. makes enough money to hire 658,000 teachers. A rather sad note on Capitalistic greed. I like the Warren Buffet quote “All Wall Street does is create financial weapons of mass destruction”. That is deffinetely Thuggery!

      • Vigilant

“One Hedge Fund Mgr. makes enough money to hire 658,000 teachers.”

Thank God the managers are allowed to keep that money. The way Communist programming is taking place in universities these days, that’s 658,000 fewer “educators” around to dumb down and indoctrinate our children.

      • eddie47d

You are more clueless than I ever imagined and I will personally give you a 2 out of 10 in moral integrity. Your just another money changer in the Temple.

Bravo for that Hedge Fund Mgr. Maybe he will use some of that money to buy the products my company makes. At least we will give him the choice. Unlike eddie who obviously thinks the government should take that managers LEGALLY Gotten money (If you did that it would be called theft) and spend it the way eddie wants.

Of course the manager might hire one of those teachers for his own kids. Then again he might not. It is HIS MONEY. He did not put a gun to eddies head and take eddies money. He did not force eddie to participate in the hedge fund.

Obama however IS forcing ALL OF US to participate in health insurance. Which is the more deserving of man of the year. I vote for the one who doesn’t have a gun pointed at my head. The Hedge fund manager gets my vote long before Obama.

Wide in range?, you betcha! Comprehensive? not so much Dave, more Cliff Notes really, offering enough to be dangerously informed. ( with some occasional exceptions )

Then you throw in the political bias and some pretty eye candy and it makes for a very marketable product.

Question; why must health care be profit oriented?

type in “free health care” into google for a LONG list of clinics and care centers. Over 362,000,000 hits so one could estimate well over 10,000. All free or low cost. Some paid for by force of government. Non are likely to be profit oriented.

      BRAVO!!!

  • http://TW readmylips

The most admired person should be setup in categories. And, there should be no selections or names to choose from. Let those voting think and come up with names for the different categories. No one person can cover ALL areas. For instance: Politically I’d vote for someone who is probably unknown but making a difference: Christie of New Jersey. Intellectually: Charles Krauthammer. et cetera.

    • Harold Olsen

I agree. Christie has shown that he has got a pair and he is kicking butt. Krauthammer is one of the VERY FEW journalists whom I admire and I seldom disagree with what he says. If fact, he is the ONLY person on Fox that I admire.

I wasn’t polled either. I’ve never been polled and I do not know anyone who has ever been polled. Several years ago (the early 90′s) I signed up for online polls on Zogby’s site. I was supposed to be notified of any and all new polls. After signing up, my registration was confirmed. I’m still waiting to be notified for my first Zogby poll.

      • independant thinker

I am signed up for a couple of polling organizations one is “Ipso-i-Say” and I receive at leaqst one new poll a week from them. very few of them are political but there are some political related questions. I cannot remember the name of the other poll I am signed up with off hand but they are more likely to ask political questions, economic questions, etc. I receive about two a month from them.

    • Paula Finneran

I do not know how anyone can claim Obama is the best President when he cannot even prove that he is an American. NON AMERICANS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PRESIDENT. HE IS A HOAX and should be impeached.

      • Nick

I think you are missing the point. All candidates for the presidency must prove to the Federal Elections Commission that they were born in the U.S. to be certified as a candidate.
If Obama had been born anywhere else the right wing would have spent any amount to prove it.

      • falling

Nick, the Federal Elections Commission merely oversees election financial matters. The Speaker of the House is supposed to check the validity of a presidential nominee after the primary election is over. When McCain’s eligibility was questioned, Democrats in the Senate rushed through a non binding resolution determining that children born to military persons stationed outside of the US hold natural born status. Republican’s went along with them rather than insisting on new law being passed to clarify the constitutional definition of Natural Born. At that time McCain could have questioned Obama’s status but chose not to, in fact during his recent re election bid, he again stated that no one should question Obama’s eligibility. Did he make a deal…or does he truly believe there should be no vetting of presidential candidates?

      • Nick

It is so simple anyone should be able to understand it. Obama proved to the Federal Elections Commission that he was born in America. He doesn’t have to prove it to people who will just refuse to believe it.

      • JC

He’s proved nothing more than that he knows how to cover his tracks.

    • Vigilant

      wasadoc:

As I told a poster before, the reasons Obama was could be re-elected were:

      (1) the power of incumbency and name recognition
      (2) a growing number of indolent “have nots” (thanks to government making them dependent on government) who will vote selfishly to keep their handouts
      (3) a large number of blacks who will vote for him because he’s black
      (4) voter registration fraud
      (5) ballot box stuffing
      (6) new young voters fresh from university and high school socialist indoctrination courses
      (7) unions and trial lawyers who contribute heavily to him for paybacks
      (8) a lamestream media in the bag
      (9) Hispanics who favor illegal immigration and amnesty
      (10) the support of hard core statists like George Soros who fully understand and encourage the breakdown of our economy and government

There are other reasons as well.

  • Alan

Gallop polls are a joke. Want to know what America really thinks? Put it on the Internet. Let us all vote. Stop making decissions for all of us based on a selected few. Man of the year? Someones not listening to America!!!

    • Robert

I Agree, put it on the Internet for a vote! You no who is backing all of this the Rich, like Bill Gates, Opra, and some of your other filthy rich! Money talks, but according to the Bible, and you can read it in there, and it is true, the bad seeds are planted, and when it is time for harvest, can you tell me what will happen to the bad seeds? I no but do they, they had better make amends now, because God is watching, and you do not no what he has planned next! And no Scientist, Bomb, Government Money, Peoples Money, will stop him, For It Is Written And It Is True! If I Was in these positions I would be asking for Gods Forgiveness, as he will answer!

      • Bob Wire

“I Agree, put it on the Internet for a vote!”~ while I might agree with your assessment how would any internet vote be worthy attention? I feel you are being both wise and narrow.

TODay , the internet does not represent the people much less the people’s will or mood. You and I have set ourselves apart from the rest of Americans by being here and being active.

If you went to a Tractor Pull event and asked the people that attended what they though about Tractors, their answers would be predictable.

I don’t agree at all with Mr. Livingston’s blazing assessment of “O” unless he wishes to include all other presidents that are guilty of the same things.

However, myself and Rand Paul are both a sons of the south, children of the Bayou and share the same values. He has been outspoken and fearless on some sensitive racial issues and personal liberties. While I understand him, he will be misunderstood by many that has not walked in our shoes, not enjoyed the rich full flavor of the Texas Delta, where Spanish moss drape the trees and everyone knows their place, finding comfortable to stay there. This is a world of the unspoken word yet understood.

I would encourage Rand Paul to walk lightly until he has build up some political equity and capital, enabling him to withstand a lighting strike that’s sure to come. I’d like to see him have a long active political career and perhaps a shot at the 1st chair position someday.

“O” would be my MAN of the Years if he repealed Affirmative Action, it is time.

      • jukebox

“O” repealing affirmative action would be equivalent to Al Gore admitting that the world was getting colder.

      • Bob Wire

If any one could repeal affirmative act today, it would be “44″.

I’ve brought this forward on several occasions, it rarely gets attention.

The topic is too hot to handle and too cold to hold I suppose.

      • JeffH

Bob says, “I don’t agree at all with Mr. Livingston’s blazing assessment of “O” unless he wishes to include all other presidents that are guilty of the same things.”

Bob, what is it that is so hard to believe about the truth of Obama and his Marxist roots? I know you don’t care for labels, but it’s all there for you to see, if you so choose.

As for the Gallup Poll…I’m don’t believe in “political correctness”.

      • Bob Wire

Hmm? So by applied same reasoning, JFK or William Howard Taft was both Marxist if you wish to expand the thought process. If so, ~ so too would be “O”.

No, ~you are correct, Jeff, I’m not buying it. It’s a far reach.

We should be able to disagree in policy without such narrow labels.

      • JeffH

Bob, I am addressing, specifically, Obama and his radical Marxism, no one else.

    • James

Alan, I agree. In my entire 286 years on this planet, Gallup has never asked me a single question.

      • Enlightenment

I agree 100% with you and give you a big AMEN!!!!!
I only know the Gallop Poll has never ask me anything are any of my friends anything which leads me to believe the sample is isolated, hand picked areas / zones of geographic locations are is basically flawed or faked.

I do think out of the box and suggest everyone else does as well on any given situation in which the media, government are air waves are involved. Please investigate at every level and don’t believe me are anyone else, find out for yourself, do your own research and then you will know what the truth really is.

    • Harold Olsen

I agree. Obama, Bush, Clinton, Gates, Mandela. None of these guys are people whom I admire.

      • JMichael

HEY! easy on Mandela, besides he shouldn’t be on this list”most admired man in AMERICA”, that’s like what about the Dali Lama or Julian Assainge? NOT AMERICAN. Or, does Bob actually know that??? as far as rand paul, not working with me, he hasn’t done anything, yet. yeah, I’ll give ya’ll the yet. yeah, I could care if you don’t want serve someone at your place of business for what ever reason, Freedom of choice, right? And, of course, everyone “Knows their place”. So, does that mean, just to be fair, you should have to wear a badge that says you’re a racist so I’ll know to kick your sorry ass out of my place of business, since I can’t tell by the color of your skin.

    • Norm

      Alan
You would have to admit that this site is a wee bit tilted to the right.
I frankly think that gallup is pretty accurate.
Some people have a hard time accepting reality.

      • DaveH

And you have to admit, Norm, that you are tilted heavily to the left.

      • BDOG

norm did you miss the election results in november?

      • Norm

        BDOG
No I was actually happy with the results. Now the republicans will actually have to take stands on issues. Any idiot can just sit around and stonewall the opposition.
Democracys always work better when people from all political views participate.
In Connecticut I voted for a republican governor and state senator.

      • Vigilant

We live in a Constitutional Republic, NOT a democracy.

      • Dagney

Yes, you do, that is plain to see.

      • JeffH

…and some people, like you Normy, have a hard time accepting the truth as facts…speaking of a full left tilt!

      • barbm

polls are done by phone – land line. not many people have land lines these days, so these polls aren’t as accurate as they should be since they don’t reach a large percentage of the population. none of my sons have a land line, and most of my friends just have cells.

      • American Citizen

All of our children have cells for their home phones and I hate them. The sound goes in and out and you lose part of what they are saying, especially if they’re moving from one place to another. It’s the younger generation that is in love with them. All of my older friends still have landlines. All technology isn’t that great. You even have to be careful what you put over the internet due to hackers.

      • barbm

i don’t have a cell phone, but i have an on-star phone in the car for emergencies. i don’t think folks should be using their phones while driving, but the on-star service doesn’t take more than the push of 1 button, then you talk to it. many of my friends have both cells and land lines, but most think it’s a waste of money to have both. i even have a land line phone that plugs into the wall. when the electricity goes out, the cordless is worthless, but the old black dial phone still works. cells do help make people stop interrupting. the phone goes silent. :)

      • Enlightenment

I have a land line and a cell and so do most of my friends and relatives and none of them have ever received a call from Gallop are any other poll. Most of my friends still have a land line because if one goes down… and it will, you still possibly have the other to depend on to make a call.

      • falling

I guess I am one of the odd ones, because I am CONSTANTLY being called by Gallop for polls. I wish I could get them to take my name off their dang list, but they just keep calling! Hanging up doesn’t do any good, because they just call back a few hours later, so I have just started making crap up. Sorry, I know it messes the polls up, but if you know how to get OFF their list let me know!

      • Vigilant

Norm says, “You would have to admit that this site is a wee bit tilted to the right.”

No Sh*t, Sherlock. Who has claimed otherwise? I’m happy you can read when it says, “Bob Livingston is an ultra-conservative American.”

We can also read, sonny, so you’re not divulging some great secret.

        Remember, “right” also means “correct.”

      • Vicki

Those of us who have tried to express our views on leftist/liberal websites get our posts deleted so why would we bother to post there? At least here the moderators even allow left/liberal posters have their say when they are polite.

    • Nick

An online poll? Well that would only reflect the views of those knowing of it. Is that what you are seeking?

    • Vigilant

      Alan:

“Gallop polls are a joke. Want to know what America really thinks? Put it on the Internet. Let us all vote.”

I’m afraid you would end up up with another “Dewey Defeats Truman” fiasco. The Internet is unrepresentative of America.

BTW, Gallup and Rasmussen polls are amongst the most trustworthy polls in America.

    • Nick

Someone clearly didn’t listen in Nov. 2008 when Obama had the same number of votes as McCain plus ten million. Can I hear that “We The People” argument again

  • Claire

Man of the year? With the names mentioned in the article above, I would have to go with Ron Paul. Rand is okay but I like his father more.

    • TIME

      Claire,
I have met Rand and he seems like a down to earth guy with some good ideas. I agree His dad is a fine man and I respect him very much. Lets see how this works out.

      • Norm

        TIME
When a bartender refuses to serve you or a real estate broker won’t show you a house, let me know how you feel about Rand Paul.

      • DaveH

        What?

      • Dogma-Free

I’m just guessing here, but I think he might be talking about racism.

I don’t really know much about Rand Paul, myself, and so couldn’t really comment on that.

Ron Paul, on the other hand, I have been watching and listening to for several years now, and I do like his approach to things. He just seems so sensible about the budget, and especially foreign policy…it’s too bad FAUX “news” (the paid mouth-piece of the Republican party) wouldn’t/won’t give him the time of day.

As for man of the year, I’d be tempted to say that maybe Julian Assange could be in the running.

And is there a ‘Woman Of The Year’…or is this still about trying to push the male-centric agenda of the church, still? Otherwise, I might suggest the title of “Person Of The Year”, and have it open to women as well.

      • independant thinker

Yes there was a woman of the year selected and Hillbill Clinton was chosen.

      • kate8

DaveH – Just consider the source.

Not worth biting on this one.

      • Norm

“I don’t like the idea of telling private business owners [what to do]. I abhor racism. I think it’s a bad business decision to ever exclude anyone from your restaurant — but at the same time I do believe in private ownership”

MADDOW: Do you think that a private business has the right to say we don’t serve black people?
PAUL: Yes. I’m not in favor of any discrimination of any form. I would never belong to any club that excluded anybody for race. We still do have private clubs in America that can discriminate based on race.

      • http://yahoo Bob

Rand Paul does not believe, that private business should be forced, to participate, in equal rights. This means, he supports the rights of private business, to decline service to minorities, or anyone else they do not like.

Rand Paul, shows the true repub ideology, which will be further observed in this New Year, which can be summed up by “support the rich, forget the poor.”

Obama, is the correct choice, for man of the year, and all others pall, in comparison.

      • JC

Bob, Rand Paul believes in choice…whereas you and your type believe in forced coercion. That’s what Commies are all about.
Now, consider…if a business owner decides not to do business with someone because of their race, he will soon be out of business.
EVERYone considers racial discrimination to be wrong.
BUT…NO ONE should be FORCED to make decisions.
If someone wants to behave as an idiot, they are only hurting themselves in the long run.

I for one do not patronize Japanese (foreign) car makers and I avoid “Made in China” as much as I can. Am I discrimating? Damned right I am. Is that my choice, Damned right it is.

I’m pro American. If someone doesn’t like it, that’s tough.

      • Vicki

A private business is private. They have a constitutionally protected RIGHT (see that amendment the liberals love to quote. 1st amendment) to discriminate.

What liberals and a lot of conservatives fail to understand is shown in the example given about a restaurant. A business that serves food to its members can discriminate all it wants.

A business OPEN TO THE PUBLIC can not. This is so naturally obvious that many people forget there is a clear and present difference.

The astute reader will notice that there is a clear English difference between “a private business” and “a privately owned business”

      • TIME

        Norm,
I don’t drink anylonger so I will not be at a bar any time soon nor getting a drink other than Tea, as far as I know drink Tea is not a problem with anyone I have met yet.

As far as a realestate broker not selling me a house, Norm they are just the middle man. The house’s owner is the seller and I would be the buyer. Thus if I have either Great Credit as in score well over 700 plus as well have 20% plus down payment, and or the full amount in cash in hand what would be the problem.

As it stands there are 10,000 home per month going into forclosure as of 2010. These numbers are projected to rise to 15,000 Plus per month in 2011.
As far as I can tell Rand Paul had nothing to do with either of these event’s, nor my drinking Tea or when I did drink a bottle of Scotch.

BTW – This problem is mostly based on “Balloon” loans, as in 1% for 3 years then poping up to 6 – 10% plus after the three year period of time.
If one can’t afford a Million dollar plus home they should not be buying one let alone even looking nor taking on such an absurd loan format. as an ARM

Its far more logical to pay a 20 – 30 year fixed loan at 7.5% then to have an ARM no matter how good the ARM looks on paper.
As well don’t buy more home than you can afford.
In plain words as it sits now people who are making $50 K Plus per year should not be buying a home for $500K or more, even a monkey can see thats utterly crazy.

Yet thats why we have the issues we have, the “greed” from lenders and the cray idea that one can afford a home based on absurd thinking. Logic clearly shows these ARM loan’s are insane.

Thus I have no clue what your point is ~ so Perhaps you can clarify it. So I can follow your logic.

      • barbm

that’s crap. he said he doesn’t see a need at this late date for the civil rights legislation that was passed in the 60s. these days, it’s the blond haired, blue eyed men who are discriminated against. if you don’t believe it, take a look at the scholarships out there that are available to anglo males. there aren’t many. the only ones my sons are elligible for are the merit based ones. all scholarships should be based on gpa, not on race, handicap, or gender.

      • Vicki

“Affirmative Action” of the 60′s is institutionalized racism.

To force a choice in preference of someone based on color is racism for to make the choice you would have to have noticed the color.

      • Justine Dohl

Norm you have that right. Paul will cut cut cut. And still bail out the banks….the big ones and then allow the big ones to swallow up the little ones in the name of free market..(ah free market isn’t that who Rand is named after? Ayn Rand? ) ..we farmers will be paying New York banks interest …..and foreclose they will and we’ll have no recourse like with the credit card debacle ………..we are third world and the republicans will take us down more…..we need FDR’s Glass Steagal brought back…and stop sending our jobs to 3rd world…(afterall who needs 100 shirts and sweaters in their closets)…pretty soon we won’t be able afford a shirt….

      • Bruce D.

A think a well written article Bob Livingston. I also agree Rand Paul is a good man.

      • falling

Norm, Should a bartender or realtor or anyone else refuse to serve someone in my town because of race, there is a pretty simple solution…refuse to give them your business. Racism as you imply it to be, is no longer a real part of our society. Competition and the free market will soon solve the problem if the government is forced to get out of the way of We The People. The same goes for corrupt businesses, overpriced insurance companies, and every other business that our government currently subsidizes…allowing ALL of them to become corrupt instead of allowing US to force them to deal honestly or go out of business!

      • JC

The only real racism left out there is coming from professional race baiters like Al Sharpton. They can’t let it go because they make a living from it.

      • JeffH

JC, you are absolutely correct about Sharpton. You can toss Jesse Jackson into that loop too. They’d both be looking for a job if there were no racism or they couldn’t manufacture some.

      • Allen Hill

I agree, that is a clear and suncinct as it gets.

      • TIME

        Norm,
I hate to burst your bubble as I now see where your going, but dude, private clubs etc. have been going since the first day man began.

Have you never seen a Gated Comminute before? Al Sharpeton lives in one in New Jerrsy, did you know that Norm? Oh and if you don’t live there you can’t get in. You must pass all qualifications to live there, aka standards / rules.

How about you just try and get into the “Kennedy Compound,” I would laugh my ass off, you can’t get within a mile of it with out being stopped even on the beach where the alledged – TIDE levels are.
Or how about Ted Turnner, you know that Mr. quasi Liberal, who owns an ISLAND off BeuFord SC. Just try and get on that island.

Or how about Al Gore who has a Home on Figure eight Island off the Wilimington NC Coast, oh thats right its gated at the bridge and if you don’t have the right sticker on your windscreen, you don’t get on.

My God man in the state of MassaChewsits alone there are over 100 Privet clubs. New York has at least double that amount, how about old Calie I bet you can’t even count the number of privet clubs for the Wealthy quasi liberals where if your Jewish, Black, Hispanic, or Asian you will never see the inside of one of them even for a job as a servant.

** And you know what Norm, thats their right to do so, and you know what Norm I don’t care if they like it that way, thats their gig.

Ever question why in a gated Community where the homes start at $1 million for a 1200 sqft shack there is a form to fill out before you can even buy the home, why is that you ask? Its to do a backround check on you to be sure you fit the profile of an outstanding new member of the Community. I know of many dozzens of them in Fl, GA, NC, SC, VA, Texas, NM, AZ, OR, WS, and even in Calie!

Man when will you wake up and stop being a mindless droid that eats drinks and spits out what your told.
You claim your educated and that you have held a job for years, yet time after time I am confused by your post, you either never got out much or your 10 years old. What is Norm?

I mean really why all the hate filled rhetoric day in and day out, do you really think all of us are just stupid and live in a dark room somewhere under ground?

My God Norm where I lived on Long Island there was a Golf Club hidden behind where my home was if you don’t have at least $100 million dollars you can’t even join it. Let alone you can’t even be a guest there, they open it perhaps ten times per summer at most.
Did it bother me? No not at all, as a matter of fact it made my home and land worth a lot more, so it was a win ~ win for me, or a great investment.

Norm, its ones rights to be able to tell me to leave their business if they so wish to, why is that such a bad thing?
Hey even if I am acting in a well behaved mannor, its their club / home / place that they are invested in, they make the rules. Not me, nor you nor the Government. “”Envy is really a bad habbit.”"

      • DaveH

        Norm,
Life isn’t fair, and it never will be, in spite of Big Government. All they do is make themselves and the lawyers rich. You of all people should know that. I’ve seen you complain often about the injustices and why we need Big Government to stop them. Yet they are here, in spite of the much larger Government we have compared to when I was a child.
The Constitution guarantees us Freedom of Association. It doesn’t say you lose that freedom if your friends aren’t of a certain race. Yet, you and your Liberal cohorts think nothing of ignoring that and using Big Government to force your way on others.
Liberals are no better than rapists who force their way on unwilling women. I can imagine a Liberal rapist — “but officer, that woman was discriminating against me because I am ugly”.

      • DaveH

        True story:
We were little bigots as children. We didn’t mistreat black people, but we did avoid them. My dad lectured us constantly that we shouldn’t judge people by their skin color. As we grew into our teens, we had pretty much learned to be respectful of people of all colors. Then affirmative action came along. My dad, who was foreman at a cement plant, witnessed several blacks that took total advantage of the new special protections. Over the following years he became very prejudiced against minorities. So, the roles were reversed. We spent much of our time after that lecturing our dad that you shouldn’t judge people by their color. That’s the effect that Force has on people. They become bitter and divided.
By the way, Norm, don’t exempt yourself from the bigot category because of your skin color. I have known more prejudiced blacks than I have prejudiced whites. Here is some evidence for that:
        http://www.bestandworst.com/r/104739.htm

      • DaveH

And where does all the Government force end? Will we have to pick our mates from behind a curtain so we can’t see their skin color? Will the Government include ugly as a protected class? Will ignorance be a protected class? Sounds ridiculous? It wouldn’t be to the lawyers. They would be laughing all the way to the bank (are already).

      • Average Joe Patriot

Our founding fathers had some good ideas.

    • Harold Olsen

Something about Ron Paul bothers me and it is something which I can not define. However, I DO know why I do not like Rand Paul. He ran a campaign against earmarks. After being elected, and before he even took office, he made a statement that SOME earmarks were alright and he would support them. As far as I’m concerned, he is just another lying scumbag politician. If he runs for president in 2012, as the idiots in the media believe will happen, he WILL NOT get my vote.

      • Ron

Obviously you like the way our freedoms are being taken away from us.Obama had an evil agenda as you will see in time!

      • http://yahoo Bob

Wron, Obama has a just, and fair agenda. Look at the polls, instead of dreaming.

      • Gianni

Bob, you need to put your thinking cap on and realize why BHO’s #s are steady or have slightly risen. First of all, the # of unemployed is closer to %11 and when you consider the real # of unemployed (those collecting, those whose unempoloyment has run up and those who have all together just gave up looking for work) we’re looking at a number of people out of work closer to %15-17. Now, it seems that people are finally living w/in there means and the small unemployment $$ may just sufice!! SO, W/ THE 99 WEEK EXTENSION ON TOP OF THE INITIAL, NEAR 2 YEAR UNEMPOLYMENT, THE UNEMPLOYED COULD COLLECT FOR OVER 4 YEARS!!! AND IT’S THESE PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO RATE OBAMA… WHY NOT, THEY’RE GETTING PAID, RIGHT!!!?

      • Nick

It appears to me you have been Becked.

      • barbm

i don’t think rand will be as bad as you think. i used to be a journalist, so i know how these things can be blown out of proportion, clarifications are left out, or statements are taken out of context to make them sound as bad as possible. that’s especially true with the mainstream media when dealing with a tea party candidate. glenn beck did it to debra medina when she ran for texas governor, so it’s not just the left wingers. i’m so in anticipation of seeing whether we made a difference.

      • DaveH

        Harold,
Then I take it you just don’t vote? A politician who keeps his word is indeed rare. On the other hand, though, if they keep their word and the voters have decided they want something else, then they are damned for that. The problem is that Government is just into too damn much, and there is no freaking way they can please everybody. The voters need to get their acts together and realize one size can never fit all. So the best we can do is shrink government dramatically, and expect our politicians to abide by the same morality that the citizens must obey.

    • JC

I’m with you Claire. Ron Paul is the man.

    • BDOG

OBAMA IS ADMIRED FOR WHAT? THEY JUST WRAP IT UP AND HOPE THERE IS ENOUGH STUPID PEOPLE TO BUY IT. SO FAR THEY”VE BEEN RIGHT BUT I THINK ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE FIGUREING THEM OUT.

      • independant thinker

I want to know how Obama can be so admired when his approval rating is in the crapper.

      • Enlightenment

The media is in the tank for Obama and all of them make up great things he has never done/ half truths, feed it to the masses and try to make something stick. If it does and the idiots take the bait Obama is a hero as he is proclaimed as the man of the year. But most Americans see him for who he is and never speak out, because why speak out when anyone can see what they are trying to feed you is crap. The rest of the masses who are stupid, idiots, uneducated and in colleges who are indoctrinated can’t wait to agree with anything the media says and then the media has them consistently voting and on there side. Also the more free stuff you give them the more they are on your side and will agree with anything you say. Soooooo… that is why they want a big government… give them cake until you get absolute control and then you drop the “HAMMER”; only the “SICKLE” is attached to it… then by the time the idiots figure it out, it is too late. The communist have used this trick along with others since man began.

      • Bruce D.

To me it is an odd poll. They all had an extremely low percentage of the population behind them. I think also that people look for name recognition. There are a lot of good people out there but most fail to recognize people who put forth sincere efforts to help and focus on one or two negative points made as a focus by the press.

      • Vigilant

        IT,

“In 2010, approximately 22 percent of respondents selected Obama, which is less than the 30 percent he received in 2009 and 32 percent in 2008. Presidents have dominated the Most Admired Man poll since its inception, taking the No. 1 spot in 52 of the 64 years.”

His approval rating is higher than the 22% cited. Does that answer the question?

    • barbm

ron paul and his campaign for liberty started the uprising that has become the tea party. rand is, so far, an unknown. i would vote for ron paul for man of the year. rand second, lou dobbs (who lost his job for telling the truth) 3rd.

    • Carole Howell

      Claire,
My entire family have a lot of respect for Ron Paul, I believe he is a very honest and sincere person.

I would like to change the subject and encourage you to all to listen to this interview when you have time and please come back and let me know what your take is on this information. Be sure to listen all the way through, it had some surprises for me.
