DREAM Act Stalls In Senate

December 13, 2010 by

DREAM Act stalls in SenateSenate Democrats have temporarily pulled the DREAM Act from consideration because they do not have enough votes to pass the measure.

On Dec. 9, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called to table the legislation and perhaps vote on it next week, which jeopardizes the bill's chances of passing during the current lame-duck session. The DREAM Act, if passed, would offer new paths to citizenship for illegal immigrants who entered the United States before age 16.

Supporters of the bill, which include President Barack Obama and most liberal lawmakers, believe that it would offer legal status for young people who have served the country. Most Republicans claim that the DREAM Act is a form of amnesty for illegal immigrants.

On Dec. 8, the House of Representatives passed the bill by a vote of 216 to 196. It is unlikely Senate Democrats will get the Republican votes needed to pass the legislation.

The American Legion, a veterans' organization, has urged Senators to stop the DREAM Act from passing.

"Some people mistakenly believe that the DREAM Act would encourage military service and the pursuit of college education," said Jimmie Foster, the national commander of the American Legion. "Instead, it rewards illegal behavior. It says to those who are trying to legally enter our country, disregard the law and you will ultimately be rewarded."

There is no such thing as an “illegal immigrant”. Immigrants enter the country by following established rules and procedures. Many wait years to meet the requirements to become legal residents and later qualify for citizenship. The proper term for the “beneficiaries” of the “DREAM” Act is “illegal aliens” They are not immigrants. They are in the United States ILLEGALLY. It is as simple as that.

  • tony

personally, I think it is obvious to everybody, including those who are in favor of the DREAM ACT, that this proposed legislation rewards illegal behavior. It is just that the proponents don’t care that such is true, and probably don’t spend much time thinking about that, but instead rationalize that: the children are innocent in this illegality; and that the children, now grown, can be contributing members of society. What those “children” don’t know, or won’t say, is that those beneficiaries of the DREAM ACT largess would then qualify to petition for their entire family to be made legal in the U.S. through a program of the government that allows those family members to be naturalized as citizens, going to the “head of the line” in the annual 1.1 million legal immigrant quota. Those “children” also have access to in-state tuition in most states, unlike natural-born American children.

Plus there are LOTS of provisions of the proposed legislation that are just plain vote-getting giveaways. Take a look at the text of the legislation:
    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-729
    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1751

The DREAM ACT is just another building block for the Globalists/Statists. It, and every piece of legislation like it must be stopped dead in its tracks if we are to survive as a nation.

  • tony

Ooops. I was wrong. The GALLUP results were 54% for, not 70%. The link follows:

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/145136/Slim-Majority-Americans-Vote-DREAM-Act-Law.aspx

  • tony

following excerpt taken from http://www.theusreport.com, after their reporting that a GALLUP poll on the DREAM ACT showed 70% support for the proposed legislation:

“According to the Gallup announcement, the question was set up on the premise of an issue referendum—the respondents could theoretically vote on this and other key issues on election day. Respondents were asked if they were for or against the law. The DREAM Act was the first presented and it was described in a general manner. “First, would you vote for or against a law that would allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to gain resident status if they join the military or go to college?”

“That’s a concept, not a law. And it certainly doesn’t address a number of provisions within the DREAM Act. Nor does that question address the fiscal consequences. Respondents weren’t told taxpayers would likely subsidize the costs; nor were they told that several versions of DREAM permitted federal grants, student loans and work-study jobs.

“Respondents weren’t told the increased numbers of students could displace others at community colleges. Unintended consequences such as increased competition for summer/seasonal part-time jobs weren’t mentioned.

“Nor were they told the Act itself creates a paradox in terms of law enforcement. Even if the path is set for these students, they would theoretically still have access to the consulate in their home country if they committed a crime—the Avena decision is not even addressed in any versions of the DREAM Act. That particular International Court of Justice decision impacted the cases of 51 foreign nationals on death row for serious crimes.

“Americans are not being informed about the costs of the Act and this was a problem with the 1986 Amnesty as well.

“Ironically another response in the same poll hasn’t been publicized at all.

“Gallup results showed the majority of Americans want to ban earmarks.

“The Gallup Poll on the DREAM Act and other issues warrants a closer look, in the interest of educating a public that has been told very little about the actual specifics and fiscal impact of such an act.”

How very funny!!! All the LEGAL green card carrying immigrants I’ve talked to lately, including one that is trying to put his kids thru college on HIS OWN DIME and student loans DOES NOT AGREE with this bill. His daughters have told him how they see all the ILLEGAL’s getting benefits for school that they aren’t and if passed, they will have less opportunity to get any of the resourses to finish. They like all the others we know think all these blood suckers need to get in the back of the line and wait like they did.

I myself have a daughter who works as a waitress and we are on disability and can’t help her, do you think SHE gets any special benefits to help her finish her college career? If this thing passes, it’s our own kids who are going to pay and pay and pay.

  • j.McConnell

This isn’t about children being “punished”. If I steal millions of dollars, live in a mansion with my family,
and am later convicted and forced to return the money and get evicted from the mansion is anyone being
punished or simply leaving a place they had no right to be in to begin with?
Anchor babies are a unintended consequence of our laws. Where else does this happen?

    • mickey

Anchor babies are a misinterpretation of the law. It was to consider slave rights, our own people, not world rights.

  • http://www.PatrioticChristiansToday.com Chris

The majority of Americans Do Not want the Dream Act!! We are against it because it allows all the people to stay here who have been here illegally, some for years!! Which means they have probably been receiving benefits, or welfare, and other free services from the government and of course not paying any taxes!! Many of them send money they do make here in America, back to their “home” countries. This is also what terrorists do here in this country. Stop the Dream Act, kill it!!
This is exactly why, we need to make a strong stand for our rights!! Our rights are being taken away from us in record speed, so its time that We The People, make our voices heard, loud and clear! Join with other Christians and Patriots who are uniting to stand strong for our God, our faith, our country, and our flag. http://www.PatrioticChristiansToday.com Merry Christmas to All!!

  • http://yahoo rob

Be prepared people…..Dream Act or whatever name is given….This is the first step to “AMNESTY”. I ask only 2 questions….Will your elected representative vote the “WILL” of the people or vote along party lines or vote his own way? Will your representative vote the “VOICE” of the people? Bets are on the table.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      rob,
They will vote in support of it if you don’t convince them that they do so at the peril of their own job!!! NOTIFY THEM DAILY!!!!

  • tim

Harry reid is a POS and was doing everything he could to get re-elected. Casino’s were busing thier employees to the polls to vote. They were getting paid while voting. They were getting free lunches. You can bet that alot of his votes were by people who could not speak english because of his promises. He’s also working on a bill for the casinos to get computerized gambling. The man buys his votes with his promises to get these people what they want, then the slimeball comes back to washington and tries to get the bills passed. The best thing that could happen is if all of his bills are turned down just to let these paople know that whorehouse harry doesn’t have the power he promises!!!

  • John Galt

Unless some action on controlling and eliminating illegal immigration takes place, and quickly, this problem will only compound.

  • Joyce from Loris

The Bank of Mexico just released information on their REMISSIONS (deposits of American money, wired by Mexicans from America). For 2010, those remissions will be $20 BILLION DOLLARS. This is up from last year, $19 BILLION DOLLARS. Illegal aliens are wiring around $2 BILLION a MONTH out of this nation. This is money that is not being recirculated into our economy. Why is this being done? Because illegal aliens have NO DESIRE to be an American. They are here to get our money, take advantage of our Social Systems, go back home and live wealthy.

  • Raggs

    Mark my words…

    This WILL get passed!

The democraps need some leverage to get this passed, I figure the tax extension that they are currently crying about will be the key that opens the illegal amnesty door!

    • mickey

I think you are exactly right. A big front of denial on the part of the dems but true. I just wonder how they are going to keep funding this monstrosity. Anyone seen the budget yet? I want to see how they are going to fund this.

      • Raggs

Well I haven’t seen anything that the democraps have worried about funding have you?

It is like everything else they do pass it first and worry about the consequences later… I’m sure somehow they will attach this onto the so-called health care reform!!!!

      • mickey

The version (I saw) of the HC did include illegals. Pelosi did not allow the impact figures from the CBO to figure in the bill’s to the public.

  • Kim

I get so tired of the bleeding hearts…If people want to immigrate to the US, they should show their earnestness to become an American by going through all the legal steps necessary, just like any of our immigrant forefathers did. What so many liberals don’t realize, or don’t want to face, is that most of the moneys that these illegals make goes right OUT our borders to Mexico. They make decent wages , live 20 to a house or apartment, and send their money to their relations. Oh, I wasn’t thinking…if all that money goes out our borders, Ben can just print more!

    • eddie47d

Before 1900′s all immigrants were illegal and few had to go through any special process. Ellis Island changed that but I bet many Americans have illegals in the family somewhere down the road.

  • fa

The first word of the phrase “Illegal Immigrant” is ILLEGAL. I would think that would make the law, if passed, amnesty.
Does anyone know what would happen if this would pass? Would the 11 Central- and South-American countries that have already drop their lawsuits with the Federal Government against Arizona?

  • george

obama found another way around the arizona law so he dose not have to deal with it thas the govament for the pepole thas not here legaly

  • David

The Democrat {socialist} party has alienated all but the far left people of this country and this a way for them to get 2 to god only knows how many really new voters.Tell me one country you can go to illegally and get hand outs by the gov? No,you get thrown in jail.
screw Harry Reid and the whole bunch.Call, email, write your congressman to vote NO.

    • eddie47d

All European countries and many others. Do they have immigration problems? Yes, some are serious but they still work things out.

  • J.M.R.

wonder where these libs are living most americans that pay the damn bill don’t want this dream act and who cares how they got here as it was not legal so send them packing and not on my dime let them walk if need be!!!

Josh please show me the facts that most Americans are behind this act? Because it is my impression they are not. I am sorry for those that feel this is there home and because they were brought here as children, however, we would still be rewarding bad behaviour. Break the law and become a citizen. How does that make all those trying the legal way feel? How about the fact that the child becomes a citizen and then so doesn’t their parents, grandparents, aunt and uncles etc. There is no stopping it once it starts. Do not pass this law.*******************************************************************
FEDUP,,YOU’RE ABSOLURELY CORRECT, THERE IS NO STOPPING ONCE IT STARTS…
I THINK THAT MANY PEOPLE PEOPLE FORGET THE OLD SAYING ” YOU GIVE THEM A HAND , THEY’LL TAKE THE WHOLE ARM,,” SAME WITH THE WELFARE RECIPIENTS AND THE GOVERNMENT MISTAKE IS TO CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE THOSE PRACTICES………

  • Mimamia

are you kidding me? the illegal aliens will fill in the slots of 2 million americans willing to go to school?…dou you know that there are MORE than two million americans who do not wish to go to college…half of them arent doing anything with their lives but smoking pot and taking crack…these are children who came here and found a home here..they are even willing to serve the country as if it was their birthplace because its the only country they know..yes there are people out of jobs..but lets face it..there are certain jobs americans are too ‘proud’ to do..they wouldnt mind…its an opportunity that they are ready to run for..

this just goes to show that people dont like children unless its their own and this is VERY sad..and the way i see it its kinda impossible to cross those borders now..it is so hightech..

if you see a little five year old who is an illegal immigrant…would you turn them in? i mean this child doesnt know anything and is noticably scared..you would make that little child go through that ordeal? come on now..

    • Joyce from Loris

Mimamia, that is the most IGNORANT statement I have ever read! I get so tired of you illegals spouting off that AMERICANS are too proud to do this, or too lazy or won’t work in the fields. Well, you know what? The illegal aliens don’t EITHER. They are taking jobs at POWER PLANTS, in the Coal Mines, construction, restaurants, hotels, grocery stores… They are
EVERYWHERE. And they are all CRIMINALS. Go Home!!! Fix your own God forsaken country.

      • Bill from N.C.

Joyce,I agree these wetbacks have been pationized too damn long. They suck our social welfare down to where legal americans get turn away. They take jobs that americans want to make a living, and what companies are still in business are paid extra to hire theses leaches. This country needs tax reform since our borders are wide open.Pass the FairTax,and make these wetback pay into the system.BTW North Carolina is overwelm with illeagles.

      • DREAMer

You are blaming Immigrants for taking jobs that Americans do not want? Jobs that would require you to work under harsh weather conditions. Jobs that pay $3-8 an hour. Jobs where you are treated badly and threatened just for the fact that you are an illegal. Listen to yourself, if a big Company, who was almost at the point of bankruptcy, had to chose between this American citizen who asks for a minimum wage of $8-12 an hour and an immigrant who has no voice AT ALL….which one would you hire just to save your company?

      • metdepeeps

Saying that illegal’s are only taking jobs that Americans don’t want is just BS. Yes, they may take jobs that look less pleasing for maybe you and I, but there maybe someone else that may want that job. Stating that they only take labor intensive jobs is also BS as I have a relative that works for a large retailer and has experienced people applying for jobs and using false documentation. One case was someone that left and then tried to return. When denied, the individual return three weeks later under a new name and new social security card, same person though.

Also you can’t have two claims – they are paid under the table and are taking crappy jobs that Americans don’t want. Then how are they also paying into social security and paying taxes from other statements claiming that they pay in, but do not receive many of the benefits?
Sounds like they are using false documentation thus another crime that has been committed.
The likely hood that an illegal will commit another crime is great as they have to hide themselves into society, so I am quite sure that many have committed “false” documentation, which is also a crime.

      • DREAMER

okay What would you do if you where and illegal immigrant in a country where immigrants were among the lowest in the nation’s class groups, where immigrants cannot get a good job for the fact that they are not able to provide legal documents, and yet you still have to feed a whole family?? yes its true that immigrants do anything just to hide the fact that they are illegal, yes we all know some immigrants do work with false documents…..so What? what other way can they provide for their families? They are giving millions of dollars to the Nation’s economy and yet they are unable to obtain any of the benefits from it. Unlike many beliefs from people, immigrants cannot obtain free medical care!!!! Just because an immigrant has false documents, it doesnt mean he/she is able to do anything and everything a US citizen can do…..immigrants are limited with these documents. NO MEDIC CARE. NO UNEMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. NOTHING!!!

Admit it, without these illegal immigrants this country would be F-ed UP!!! we have seen this happen in many cities. Take Wisconsin as an example, WI’s main industrial business is the Dary products…..milk, sour cream, cheese….47% of the people who work in the Dary industries are immigrants, if all of the sudden they were all deported, WI would immediately go bankrupt. NO IMMIGRANTS = SCREWED UP NATION

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Dreamer,
first off I would do ANYTHING I could to CHANGE MY OWN COUNTRY!!!
Second, Carpentry, welding, construction, slaughter house worker, drywaller, painter, mechanic, masonery, tile installer, concrete finisher. These are a short list of just some of the jobs these illegals are taking under the table, which means they are not paying ANYTHING in deductions!! These jobs all would pay at least 15 dollars an hour even under the table as the employer then doesn’t have to pay matching on social security, federal and local taxes, so it is still a bargain!!! Oh yeah, don’t forget roofer!!!

    • mickey

Excuse me, who did those jobs before illegals? Actually, LEGAL immigrants and US citizens? And what makes you so blatantly ignorant that people from around the world would “do those jobs” for five years and go home? Since no English is required, we have a whole world to chose from.

BTW, I have two grandchildren who’s mother is a legal descendant from south of the border, who will go to the back of the line for education if this bill goes through. I have another very legal grandchild of Asian descent that will also go to the back of the line.

As far as our deadbests, at least they are citizens.

And another question, why the US where the language is English. Why not another Spanish speaking country? There are Spanish speaking countries that surely have jobs their citizenry “won’t do” and the plus side is, no English required.

      • eddie47d

All Dream Act students attending college will know English so you are blowing smoke on that issue. Most have been in the country so long they don’t know Spanish any more.

      • http://?? Joe H.

THOOMP! THOOMP!! THOOMP!! IN, OUT, IN AGAIN!!!!

  • s c

Once again, people, SCREW polls. Common sense demands that using military service to open doors for legal status is not a good idea. Is this America, or is it a modern version of old Rome?
Do people earn legal status, or do they barter for it?
Mr. Reid, pimp that he is, is once again making promises he may not be able to keep. Aside from the fact that Nevadans couldn’t band together and RID America of Mr. Reid’s presence in Washington, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Reid has been a horse’s ass for years, and has not yet seen any reason to change his miserable, self-serving ways. Jam it, Mr. Reid. Retire. Find another country. Go away, and STAY AWAY.If you want a challenge bubba, reform the wacko leaders in North Korea and Iran.

DREAM ACT – 10-YEAR WORK PERMITS (What our corrupt politicians are not telling you)

    1. Application: The DREAM amnesty begins with illegal aliens filling out applications. They merely have to claim — not provide evidence — that they meet criteria of having been brought to the U.S. before age 16 and being under the age of 30 at time of enactment and being present in the U.S. at least 5 years before enactment of the amnesty, among other criteria.

    2. Work Permits Given: Upon filing the application, the illegal aliens are given a 10-year work permit to compete directly with the 22 million Americans who want a full-time job but can’t find one.

Estimates suggest that up to 2 million illegal aliens could legitimately qualify for the opening application, and perhaps a couple million more might be or look young enough to fraudulently apply.

Those millions would immediately be able to legally compete for any U.S. job…

    • DREAMer

While slightly more than 2.1 million youth and
young adults could be eligible to apply for legal
status under the legislation, historical trends
indicate that far fewer are likely to actually
gain permanent (or even conditional) status,
due primarily to the bill’s education attainment
requirements. We estimate that roughly 38
percent of potential beneficiaries — 825,000
people — would likely obtain permanent legal
status through the DREAM Act’s education and
military routes while as many as 62 percent
would likely fail to do so.

      http://www.migrationpolicy.org/pubs/DREAM-Insight-July2010.pdf

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Dreamer,
Are you working full time?? Truth please! If you are, what happens to you and your family if you get laid off and all of a sudden there are two to three million more people competing for the jobs you and others apply for? you willing to let your kids or spouse do without so a person that came into this country illegally in the first place can get the job while barely attending school so they meet the requirements??
If you are willing to do all this then you are probably illegal yourself and don’t belong here in the first place.
If you aren’t working full time, it explains a lot!!! If you have no money in the pot, it’s real easy to tell someone to bet everything they own on an eight high nothing!!!

  • Josh

It’s disappointing to see the Republicans fail to represent their base.

Americans want the DREAM Act. We have no excuse to punish innocent minors for the mistakes of their parents.

    • http://naver samurai

Can you cite your sources? I know for a fact that most Americans are against this measure. Don’t forget that one of the conditions that these newly elected leaders must follow is stricter immigration policies. Where the heck you get off telling a bald faced lie like that? Are the ones you talked to Americans? The State of Indiana don’t want this thing passed and neither does any other state in the union. Maybe the lib, gay loving, baby killing, marxists want this passed, but the average American does not. My wife came here legally as an immigrant and doesn’t like this policy either. She figures that if she went through the system legally, then they should do the same thing. If they don’t like what is going on in their own country, let them change it themselves and don’t hide here. We are a nation of laws and do not reward law breakers. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

      • Gia

Speak for yourself, sources state that a slight majority of Americans support the Dream Act. How about you do some research.

      • Teresa

Well I don’t know where You get your stats from either…I don’t know ANYONE who wants it to pass. This country already faces enough people w/o jobs and economic problems w/o allowing an amnesty. Free tuition…we can not even allow to send OUR children to college and we want our tax dollars to go to illegals….please!

      • eddie47d

There is no free tuition, none, nada! Fear and lies won’t help your problem. These “children” will have to struggle to come up with in-state tuition also. No favoritism and they have to have what is upstairs in order to accomplish that goal. In other words their own merit.

      • metdepeeps

The bill would allow a person to obtain Federal Aid, which includeds Pell Grants and Loans. Section 10 of the Dream Act Bill. Also, it does not mention anything about sponsering family once you have been given status or once you have been granted citizenship.

      • DREAMer

Those who are able to apply for the DREAM ACT can NOT obtain federal loans, grants, or financial aid….they can only obtain private grants. In addition, these immigrants will also have to pay OUT OF STATE tuition…which is more than 10k for most states

      • metdepeeps

For this mis-informed – research first before stating claims (sorry it is section 11 in the Houses version of the bill):

        http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-6497

        SEC. 11. HIGHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE.

Notwithstanding any provision of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1001 et seq.), with respect to assistance provided under title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1070 et seq.), an alien who is granted conditional nonimmigrant status or lawful permanent resident status under this Act shall be eligible only for the following assistance under such title:

        (1) Student loans under parts D and E of such title IV (20 U.S.C. 1087a et seq., 1087aa et seq.), subject to the requirements of such parts.

        (2) Federal work-study programs under part C of such title IV (42 U.S.C. 2751 et seq.), subject to the requirements of such part.

        (3) Services under such title IV (20 U.S.C. 1070 et seq.), subject to the requirements for such services.

      • DREAMer

For this mis-informed – research first before stating claim…..Firts of all Section 11 is PENALTIES FOR FALSE STATEMENTS

        http://www.rules.house.gov/111/LegText/111_dream_txt.pdf

Also, if you think about it, it’s actually pretty good. Besides, it’s almost as if the immigrants are paying for college themseleves for the fact that these immigrants contribue to 1.6 million dollars a year to the Social Security Program……which they are unable to obtain. So lets just say we’re even.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        metdepeeps,
quite handy how you ignored the subtitle (3) in that section you posted. Let me help you out a little.

        DREAMer,

You can say your even if you want to but not me ! I live in an area that is over run with illegals and their children. They may be paying in to SS but at the same time they are drawing WIC, and foodstamps, a free education for school age children, and when they can’t afford to buy their children the necessary materials for school the parents or grand parents,(like me)are asked to donate those supplies ! When there are field trips and these children can’t afford the cost of the trip people like me or the teachers fork out the money from their own pockets ! Oh yes , these children also get free breakfast and lunch ! No we are not even! They draw more off the system than they ever give back !

        WEll SAID!!

      • BOB

Some of the people that say we are law brakers should put them selfs in our shoes for just one second. We didnt have a choice in coming to the US but just like every parent wants the best for their children they brought us here. I did not know a lick of English and I just wanted to go back home but I wanted to be with my parents so I had to work hard and even break down to learn, it took me a year to learn and I struggled so much but I thank GOD for the way my life has turned out, I’ve learned that the harder things are, the more u are willing to push ur self. Lots of people that are born here dont care about going to school or becoming something of them self because its just there. Now if they were not allowed to go to school they would want to attend and not just for the financial aid and then drop out. My point is, the easier life is the less effort you will put to become somebody better.
I dont judge my parents for bringing me here, I thank them. My college career is about over and just like every other ILLEGAL student, I had to pay for my school all by my self. I’ve already had an interview with a great company and they loved me but Im just missing ONE SMALL THING, (THE RIGHT TO WORK LEGALLY). I love this country and its women ofcourse and either the Dream Act passes or fails, I’ll still be here. THIS IS MY HOME

      • Maury

Dude cut the BS like you say isn’t your faul to be here, then is not americans faul that you are in a pickle now. I really hate people who think they deserve to be leglize just because… (offensive word removed)that. for your information americans and legal residents have to strugle so they can afford a college education and legal immigrants wait from 2 to 18 years to get their green card, you are not to blame but you are not wanted her,e blame your parents and go back to your country and reaply for a visa like the law mandates it.
I supported Obama but he has become weak under preasure. plz Obama be strong america really needs you we are falling apart.

      • AnAmerican

Maury, you claim to be an American. If your writing and grammar skills are an indicator of your ability to contribute to the economic growth of our nation, the US would be better-off if you returned to your parent’s country of origin. Undoubtedly, a kid brought illegally to America by his parents and knows no other country but is attending college on his/her own (as most are) and doing well, will contribute many times over your limited English proficiency. No offense, but that is the truth.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        AnAmerican,
suggest you look at some of the letters written by the founders of this great nation and see what their grammer and spelling looked like. Then think a little of what benefits and contributions THEY made to the nation!! For one thing this is a very casual setting and second you are being overly judgemental of AMERICANS!! i agree with the poster above. If you illegals don’t like the way we do business here then I suggest you go back to YOUR country and change it!!! KISS OFF!!

      • CJ

It’s too bad your parents may have brought you here without your concent, but this is the “home” of many. Their ILLEGAL act should not benefit anybody. They made your situation, not the Americans, and it should NOT be the Americans’ responsibility to compensate you for your parents illegal action. If you have overcome your disadvantage on your OWN merit, good for you. That’s what it’s all about, not forcing me, who had NOTHING to do with it, to have a lower life standard and thus encourage more illegal actions.

      • Joyce from Loris

OK, Bob, you sound like a smart kid, paying your own way through school, etc. I just have one question. Why didn’t you take some of that money that you spent on school and invest it in becoming a LEGAL IMMIGRANT to the United States? Could it be that you fully expected the government to give you a FREE PASS in becoming a legal immigrant? I fight hard not to reward criminal acts, and breaking into another person’s country is illegal. Since you already have your education, and are apparently employable (you have received job offers), why not take your education home to Mexico. There are plenty of companies there that you can work for.. Oh, and take your parents with you.

      • Granny Mae

        Joyce from Loris,

I agree. He thinks he struggled, well so have all of us for one reason or another. So you were an illegal child of illegal parents, and how many brothers and sisters do you have that are illegal too? You have already got a free education on the backs of hard working American citizens and so did all your brothers and sisters ! What makes you think that your education was just simply there for you to take? This is not a socialist country like Mexico. The people in this country all work hard at what ever they do, to pay their taxes that not only supported you and your family but also gave you that free education and diploma you are so proud of! You have no idea what it cost the tax payers of this country for your education ! Good for you that you worked your way through college, but so did my kids ! My one son worked three jobs at the same time to put himself through college and he graduated with honors ! I often wonder how well he would have done if he hadn’t had to work so much to pay for his education. You see at the same time he was supporting a wife too and paying for a house and a car and all the bills that go with that life and he drove everyday over 40 miles one way just to go to school! You say that Americans don’t appreciate their education and quit school. Where have you been living? My kids didn’t quit school. They worked their butts off getting their educations. My oldest son has a learning disability but that didn’t stop him either! He worked as hard as any body and got his education too ! So you can take your sactimonious attitude and put it where the sun don’t shine. You have lived here and still you know nothing about the people in America. There are some that are lazy just like there are any where you go but this great country that has been so good to you, was built by hard working men and women that sacrificed their whole life so that those coming after them would have it easier. They sure didn’t think that it would be stolen from them by people like you and your parents that lower themselves to become criminals and break the law to come here and take for themselves that education and welfare and services and medical care and everything else that you have taken advantage of while you have been here, while their ancestors have been pushed aside so the so called politicaly correct could cater to you and all the others like you, that have demanded that you deserve everything. If you are so grateful for your education then why don’t you pay it forward and head back to Mexico and start improving things in your own country so other families won’t have to leave and become criminals just to get an education ? I know why you won’t do that. It’s because you think you are better than they are now! Boy you still have a lot to learn ! This is not your home, Mexico is ! Like Joyce said go home and take your parents with you !

      • http://yahoo rob

All I have to say is: Then apply for “LEGAL” citizenship the “LEGAL” way…….I do not care of what age you are, there is a path to citizenship in this country. Be better than your parents.

      • mickey

No, it is not your home. BTW just how were you fed all your educational life? Through the “hardened hearts” of US citizens? Do your parents work illegally or just take welfare.

FYI This is Harry Reid’s real position of ILLEGAL aliens (not immigrants, immigrants went through a long process)

FLASHBACK: Dem Senate Leader Harry Reid: ‘Our Federal Wallet Stretched To Limit By Illegal Aliens Getting Welfare’

‘Even worse, Americans have seen heinous crimes committed by individuals who are here illegally’

        August 5, 1993

The Office of Sen. Harry Reid issued the following:

In response to increased terrorism and abuse of social programs by aliens, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) today introduced the first and only comprehensive immigration reform bill in Congress.

Currently, an alien living illegally in the United States often pays no taxes but receives unemployment, welfare, free medical care and other federal benefits. Recent terrorist acts, including the World Trade Center bombing, have underscored the need to keep violent criminals out of the country.

Reid’s bill, the Immigration Stabilization Act of 1993, overhauls the nation’s immigration laws and calls for a massive scale-down of immigrants allowed into the country from approximately 800,000 to 300,000.

The bill also changes asylum laws to prevent phony asylum seekers. Reid said the U.S. open door policy is being abused at the expense of honest, working citizens.

“We are a country founded upon fairness and justice,” Reid said. “An individual in real threat of torture or long-term incarceration because of his or her political beliefs can still seek asylum. But this bill closes the door to those who want to abuse America’s inherent generosity and legal system.”

Reid’s bill also cracks down on illegal immigration. The 1990 census reported 3.3 million illegal aliens in America. Recent estimates indicate about 2.5 million immigrants illegally entered the United States last year.

“Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs,” Reid said. “The Immigration and Naturalization Service needs the ability to step up enforcement.

“Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care and other benefits often without paying any taxes.

“Safeguards like welfare and free medical care are in place to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world. “Even worse, Americans have seen heinous crimes committed by individuals who are here illegally,” Reid said.

Specific provisions of Reid’s Immigration Stabilization Act include the following:

        – Reduces annual legal immigration levels from approximately 800,000 admissions per year to about 300,000. Relatives other than spouse or minor children will be admitted only if already on immigration waiting lists and their admission does not raise annual immigration levels above 300,000.

        – Reforms asylum rules to prevent aliens from entering the United States illegally under phony “asylum” claims.

        – Expands list of felonies considered “aggravated” felonies requiring exclusion and deportation of criminal aliens. Allows courts to order deportation at time of sentencing.

        – Increases penalties for failing to depart or re-entering the United States after a final order of deportation order. Increases maximum penalties for visa fraud from five years to 10 years.

        – Curtails alien smuggling by authorizing interdiction and repatriation of aliens seeking to enter the United States unlawfully by sea. Increases penalties for alien smuggling.

        – Adds “alien smuggling” to the list of crimes subject to sanctions under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Expands the categories of property that are forfeited when used to facilitate the smuggling or harboring of illegal aliens.

        – Clarifies that a person born in the United States to an alien mother who is not a lawful resident is not a U.S. citizen. This will eliminate incentive for pregnant alien women to enter the United States illegally, often at risk to mother and child, for the purpose of acquiring citizenship for the child and accompanying federal financial benefits.

        – Mandates that aliens who cannot demonstrably support themselves without public or private assistance are excludable. This will prevent admission of aliens likely to be dependent on public financial support. This requirement extends to the sponsor of any family sponsored immigrant.

        – Increases border security and patrol officers to 9,900 full-time positions.

      • eddie47d

Mickey; “aliens who cannot demonstrably support themselves without public assistance” shouldn’t be allowed in country. Sounds swell, but what about Americans on welfare and continuously won’t find work or the unemployed? They take money from the government coffers . Should they be deported? Should “illegals” who work hard be deported while lazy Americans who rip off the system and won’t do “stoop” labor be rewarded? I personally value a man’s ability or will to work over someone who doesn’t have that desire.

      • DREAMer

“Currently, an alien living illegally in the United States often pays no taxes but receives unemployment, welfare, free medical care and other federal benefits”

How stupid can you be? The only thing you were correct there was the fact that immigrants can receive welfare….that’s about it. Free medical care? unemployment? Listen to yourself. People like you make up so much BS just to hide the truth. How can these immigrants receive unemployment and medical care without an SSN?

        Also, immigrants do pay taxes.
Undocumented immigrants pay the same real estate taxes—whether they own homes or taxes are passed through to rents—and the same sales and other consumption taxes as everyone else. The majority of state and local costs of schooling and other services are funded by these taxes. Additionally, the U.S. Social Security Administration has estimated that three quarters of undocumented immigrants pay payroll taxes, and that they contribute $6-7 billion in Social Security funds that they will be unable to claim (Porter 2005).

        http://www.urban.org/publications/900898.html

        DO SOME RESEARCH!!!!

      • metdepeeps

“How can these immigrants receive unemployment and medical care without an SSN?”

Wait, how are they paying payroll taxes and contributing to Social Security in the first place? They must be using “a” social security number, so calling them “undocumented” should really be “false documentation”. Another crime has been committed, which in this case is now a felony!

Wow, we went from a misdemeanor (entering illegally or staying past due) to now a felony. I think I have made my point.

      • DREAMER

Immigrants go to the office where they settle all the immigration…legal or not….I forgot what that office is called, it has a specific name. But anyways, there they’ll give you a “pin” number, which is pretty much all BS since it’s useless, the only thing an immigrant can really do is pay taxes with it. There you go Mr. smart-ass. any other questions??
You see immigrants do not commit any crime…..if leaving your country, just so you and your family can be able to eat everyday, something besides eggs and beans, its a crime then i guess you have all the right to punish these people.

I really dont see how you people cannot agree with the Dream ACt. We all know the U.S. CAN NOT AND WILL NOT deport all these immigrants, so why not educate them so they can contribute to the Nation as a whole instead of having a bunch of drop-outs, drug addicts, gang members. We consciously know there are 12.4 million illegals, 2.1 million students…. i mean what good will it bring to the US if we just have a bunch of uneducated people out there with no hope of succeeding in life? Don’t say that they should come here legally cuz we all darn well know that is not an option; If you people want these illegal immigrants to come here legally, FIX THE DAMN IMMIGRATION LAWS

      • metdepeeps

The place that you are referring to is USCIS offices or Social Security offices. The USCIS does not issue tax ID’s or social security numbers, that it the social security office, which only provides if you are here legally. An illegal cannot just obtain either document just by showing up as they have to obtain a status from the Immigration office to do such, so a true illegal will not have either. If you do not believe me, call your social security office or your immigration office: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis
        http://www.ssa.gov/immigration/

If you are not here on a work visa or green card, you will not be provided a social security number nor are you able to work legally in the US, so you will not be paying payroll or social security period.
Thus the only way these individuals can be paying any form of payroll or social security tax is due to false documentation. If not, why does your statement claim that they cannot obtain social security benefits?

“fact that these immigrants contribue to 1.6 million dollars a year to the Social Security Program……which they are unable to obtain.”

The logic you try to present does not hold any water.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Dreamer,
correction, the government CAN deport all of them if they WANT to!! They don’t want to as they mean votes if there is any way they can be made legal!! Eisenhower deported millions od them during operation wetback during his term as president to make available employment to returning vets from the war!!

      • Granny Mae

        DREAMer,

In my state illegals do qualify for WIC, welfare that includes food stamps and medicaid ! They get free dental and medical, including vacinations, and if they need hospitalization all they have to do is go to the emergency room, because the hospital cannot refuse to treat them! It is against the law ! How do you think these women get to have their baby’s birth recorded to become an ancor baby? They never pay for this service it is always taken care of by the over charging of patients that have insurance. Why do you think when you read your hospital statement that it says you were given four tylenol at the cost of $5.00 each ? Every thing you recieved in the hospital is over charged to your insurance company to help defray the cost of services to those that don’t pay ! Now maybe you can understand why it is that our insurance cost is so high! Your insurance isn’t just paying for you it is paying for every other person that doesn’t have coverage but still goes for treatment to the hospital. When Obama tells you that we have to cover all these people that don’t have insurance coverage, don’t believe that lie because they do ! They don’t have every kind of coverage but they do have emergency life saving coverage and they get medical treatment from a doctor through medicaid ! They get dental coverage through medicaid and they can qualify for an eye exam and glasses if they need them. These illegals are a huge burden on the economy of the town where they live. I say come here the right way and we have no problem !

      • mickey

As far as “legally” working, I bet you could legally work in your rightful country of origin.

But, okay, if this stupidity goes through and you and yours are still allowed to send billions of dollars to a homeland (you deny), then could you explain the process so we, as US citizens, can get our relatives here from distance countries?

We need a new breed of so called “immigrants” to balance out the ones from south of the border.

BTW you will notice that Reid’s 1993 bill had only 2 million, not 20 million as estimated in 2010. Guess crime pays quite generously.

      • eddie47d

Joyce; Immigration violations are a misdemeanor so knock off the criminal tough talk and insults.

      • metdepeeps

It is a criminal misdemeanor not a felony, but it is still considered a criminal act. Look it up as there are two types of crimes, criminal or civil in our justice system.

      • Cribster

The reason there is 30,000,000 illegal aliens running rough shod across the country is because we keep rewarding bad behavior.

There already have been seven amnesties. ENOUGH. It’s time to put the needs of the citizens ahead of illegal aliens. When you help illegals, you hurt citizens!

The Seven Amnesties Passed by Congress

        1. Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens

        2. Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens

        3. Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994

        4. Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America

        5. Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti

        6. Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens

        7. LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens

      • oldtimeyman

        How about these rules:

        1. If you migrate to this county, you must speak the native language

        2. You have to be a professional or an investor. No unskilled workers allowed.

        3. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, all government business will be conducted in our language.

        4. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here.

5 Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.

        6. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs.

        7. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

        8. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed waterfront property. That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.

        9. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no badmouthing our president or his policies, if you do you will be sent home.

        10. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.

THIS folks, is the LAW OF MEXICO and how they treat illegal (and legal) immigrants. Maybe we should adopt Mexican law and apply it to the illegal Mexican and other illegal immigrants coming to America.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        oldtimeyman,
At least if we did that maybe the el presidente wouldn’t complain about the unfair practices of our immigration laws because he would know we would look him in the eye and say but they are the SAME ONES YOU USE!!!!

        oldtimeyman,

I will stand with you on this one ! Good post !

      • Wesley

anamerica. No, it’s not these kids fault that they’re here, it’s their parents and it must stop. This act will only encourage more law breaking parents to sneak in and no country can survive like that. Name me one country that will grant citizenship to illegal aliens, or, their children? It’s merely a step to erase borders and that’s just lunacy. It’s not the United stats’ responsibility to provide opportunities for the world. If you feel so bad for these kids then don’t encourage illegal immigration and then they can know their own country of origin and not have to worry.

      • madmaxxed

Then it is your parents fault. Blame them…. you are still illegal!

How many of those are illegal?

Additionally, how many are being mis-informed from what the media is stating to them or reading in wiki links? I heard the other day someone saying that they had to obtain a degree, which the bill does not state, just two years of higher education is the min.

FYI, federal aid is in the bill, under section 11 for the House version. Please check link http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-6497

      • DREAMer

How many of those are illegal? Wat a stupid question…..now all of the sudden all of the people who are surveyed and all of the polls ans surveys that show that Americans support the Dream Act are illegal? IGNORANCE is a lack of conscience. You my friend are lacking concience

      • metdepeeps

“Conscience” that is completely funny, especially from the context for which it is stated. Why we are at it, why not just call me a bigot too as I do not agree with this bill. In know the difference between what is right and what is wrong and that is obey the law.

I do agree immigration needs to handled, but I believe this is not the way to correct it. Any individual that is here on a student visa should be provided the same treatment as they should then be able to obtain US Federal Aid. Additionally, why not extend it anyone in another country who wants to come to the US?

      • DREAMER

From all the debates I’ve had throughout my life about the Dream Act, i know that when ignorant people like you and like Dan Stein….the president of FAIR…… have your mind made up there is nothing that can make you people see the real truth. You people think of immigration and the Dream Act as a political debate, it is more than that, it is a humane, heart giving action. But whatever, I’m just gonna tell you what I’ve said earlier in this article:

“I really dont see how you people cannot agree with the Dream ACt. We all know the U.S. CAN NOT AND WILL NOT deport all these immigrants, so why not educate them so they can contribute to the Nation as a whole instead of having a bunch of drop-outs, drug addicts, gang members. B S !

      • Granny Mae

        DREAMer,

The dream act does nothing to stop the illegal immigration it only rewards it by giving them education ! Do you have any idea what it takes to get special programs for children that have a learning dissability? Yet there is no problem getting illegal children special teachers and programs so they can get an education ! I would have loved to have had half that co-operation when my son was growing up. All his special needs were met by me and me alone ! He went to school by day and home school by night ! I didn’t get any special consideration and believe me I screamed loud and clear and pounded tables and did what ever I could. Today there are special clases for these kids but not of the type and quality in all schools that is really necessary, but if you are Mexican they will bend over backwards for you. Schools even get special funding for special teachers and tutors. Can the bleading heart and start doing something for the disadvantage child that is an American citizen for a change ! As a matter of fact when my special needs son was in high school his counselor told my son and I that he thought it would be best if my son quit school and went to adult education instead ????? I nearly came unglued with that one! That school did not want to have to provide him with anything, they just wanted to get rid of the responsibility of his education. I nearly came across the desk at that idiot ! I told him if for any reason my son was removed from that school before he graduated I would see the whole bunch of them in court ! And I meant every word of it ! My son is dyslexic and has an audio perseption problem and they didn’t want to deal with it ! It was a long hard struggle but today he is doing well, no thanks to the educational system in this country! Help our own kids first and then let your heart bleed for those in other countries !

    • paul

If this Nightmare Act is approved there will be 2 million less American kids going to college over the next several years because the democrats want to give those slots to illegal aliens.

However we American citizens do get one thing out of it… the bill. Yup the democrats want the American taxpayer to subsidize their education while cheating our American kids.

The Nightmare Act has no cap, no end-date and no enforcement. It’s simply a “mass ongoing amnesty”. In the future any foreign family with a school age child can sneak in the country and enroll their child in school to obtain automatic citizenship.

Why do some democrats hate American kids so much???

    • CJ

Americans do NOT want the Dream act. Illegal immagrants DO.

    • pennsyltuckian

This American does not want the dream act and you are every bit as delusional as the other dumbocraps who are ignoring the will of the people. Nobody in their right minds wants amnesty for people who break the law except left wing fools and dumbocraps, sorry, same thing.

Josh: I don’t know where you get your facts either, unless it is from the other Latin people. I am a disabled 63 old man. I have paid taxes in this country since I was old enought to work which was 14. I have served in the military, and was lucky as hell to have not lost my life in the Viernam War like many of my friends and relatitives did. I am all for immigration into the USA if it is done legal. I met a woman from Peru, We later married , and it has taken 18 months to try to get her and her sons here legally. To date she and here sons are still not here because of our screwed immigration system. All I have done is fill out paperwork over and over again ,send the same information to different services on different form numbers, and pay $2500.00 to try to get them here legally. This has taken over 18 months and they are still not here. The other side of the story is, that once my wife and her 18 year old son gets here it will take her 3 years to apply for her other son who is 21. to start the process , to try to get her whole family here all together. I mentioned starting the process, then it will take another 7 to 10 years to get him here. You take about being fair,I am an American, and I say this is not fair. I am trying to make this happen legally, and you want everything to be given to you, that is what is not fair. It is sad that you can not become a US citizen unless you have a sponser, it is sad that my wife and her sons can’t be together and they have an American sponser, whom is trying to get them here legally. The Democrats want you to have AMNESTY so that they can have your votes, it is very simple, they don’t care about you all they care about is your vote. They don’t care about me either, and for that reason ,I will vote againist them every chance I get. I wish you all the luck in the world, but not at my families expense. You said you had to pay for your education , I find that interesting, because, I know people that are latin and they don’t pay for their childrens, school, school meals, or medicalcare. It is all free because of the system, which sucks. I am a natural born American Citizen, where are my rights, you are taking them from me.

      • eddie47d

Bud; This isn’t a Democrat issue at least in the way you described it. Your problem has been exacerbated by Republicans who have turned all immigrants into demons. You have been caught up in their rhetoric and immigration reform has been continually sabotaged by them. The whole process can be speeded up but the powers to be in Congress are holding up change that you would benefit from. Too many immigrants have been in this country for 10 and 20 years and they are being held up also. Good luck in your challenge.

        THOOMP! There it goes again!!!!

    • mickey

Gosh, tell that to all the children of prisoners here. Are they supposed to get all the freebies, go to the front of the line, apply for amnesty for their parents? After all, the family should not be separated. And the kids of armed service people?

What about all the divorced families? Are they now supposed to get free “airline” tickets to fly back and forth? Oh, I forgot, our kids get molested at the airport while those crossing the border get welfare, healthcare, jobs, and revenues sent back to another country.

Why at the age of 18, do these now responsible citizens, not correct the admission of illegal status and go home?

      • eddie47d

The parents don’t get amnesty under the Dream Act bill. They (parents) still have to apply for citizenship and some have been waiting 20 years. The whole process is broken.

      • Dan az

Eddie you fail to see the over all picture as usual,Half truth’s and no facts at least your consistent.
Five to ten thousand folks come across that border daily, and what’s coming across — 20 percent have criminal convictions — are gang members, drug smugglers, human smugglers, child molesters, rapists. It’s an invasion. It’s in violation of the Constitution. Yes, it’s impeachable. He not only neglects to do it, now he’s refusing to do it. It’s impeachable.”

      • Al Sieber

You got that right Dan, they come through this area all the time, its like a “Trojan Horse”, being invaded by stealth.

      • Dan az

        Hey Al
There is a white van here every day dropping off illegals daily believe it or not they pack twenty in the back. The funny thing is the cops up here dont do anything even when they where unloaded in front of the cop station.I guess they cant read the signs but they all where carrying a kmart plastic bag and went in different directions.

    • Donna

Josh you are mistaken. Americans children have to take out loans that span in excess of 20 years for the privledge of going to college and now our government wants to subsidize a college education for illegals. And then once they have that degree in hand they will automatically qualify for affirmitive action hiring laws and take the few jobs left in the U.S. from its own citizens. I would love to give every 3rd world person on the planet a guaranteed education, job for life, free medical, free food stamps BUT IT IS JUST NOT POSSIBLE.
And to top it off Rep Luis Guiterrez has threatened violence in the streets if this NIGHTMARE ACT does not pass. DOESNT HE THEN QUALIFY AS A TERRORIST—-HE THREATENS VIOLENCE IF “HIS’ PEOPLE DO NOT GET THEIR WAY We can no longer sit and watch the whole fabric of this country be unraveled by self righteous IDIOTS. By the way I am married to a 3rd generation Mexican American…….At some point a country grows up and has to say STOP>>>>WE CANNOT LET IN THE WORLD. Can you not understand this.

      • eddie47d

You and your husband have that I’ve got mine to heck with everybody else attitude. Always excuses to feel superior over someone else.

      • Dan az

        No eddieeee its called logic!

      • eddie47d

        Not always danny boy.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        THOOMP!!!

      • Donna

Nope wrong Eddie…..NO OTHER PEOPLE THAT CAME BEFORE THE LAST 20 YEARS OR SO EVER RECEIVED A DIME…LET ALONE A FREE COLLEGE EDUCATION. ALL PAST IMMIGRANTS WHETHER GERMAN, ENGLISH (ME), POLISH, FRENCH, ITALIAN AND YES MEXICANS TOO HAD TO WORK FOR EVERY SINGLE RED CENT. NOW EVERYONE WANTS TO WALTZ IN AND GET A FREE RIDE.

    • meteorlady

I totally do not want the Dream Act. That means that all those children whose parents KNOWINGLY broke our laws will also get citizenship. This is a huge campaign to start getting these people legalized.

Here’s some statistics for you about illegals:

$11 to $22 BILLION is spent on welfare by state governments.

$2.2 BILLION is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC and free school lunches.

$2.5 BILLION a year is spent on Medicaid.

$12 BILLION a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for mostly non-English speaking children.

$17 BILLION a year is spent for education for American-born anchor babies.

$3 MILLION A DAY is spent to incarcerate illegals. 30% of ALL federal prison inmates are illegals.

$90 BILLION a year is spent on illegals for welfare and social services.

$200 BILLION a year in suppressed American wages are caused by illegals.

Illegals in the US have a crime rate that is 2-1/2 times that of white non-illegals. Their children are going to make a huge additional crime problem.

In just 2006, illegals sent home $45 BILLION in remittances to their country of origin.

Nearly 1 MILLION sex crimes were committed by illegals in the United states.

So – that’s a total of $338.3 BILLION of our tax dollars EVERY SINGLE YEAR and you want to legalize the children and let the parents fly in on their coat tails? It’s all a ruse to get your sympathy and we can’t afford anymore free loaders and under educated people in this country.

      • DREAMer

Here’s another statistic you forgot to add into your little list:

the U.S. Social Security Administration has estimated that three quarters of undocumented immigrants pay payroll taxes, and that they contribute $6-7 billion in Social Security funds that they will be unable to claim (Porter 2005).

      • Earl

Stupid is as stupid does, as they say. our gain, their loss. Ya wanna be illegal, that’s one of the prices…..Maybe that will balance out some of the astronomical costs we bear for their illegal acts!

      • Dan az

Dreamer that about says it all in just your name because facts would be a lie.Just because obummer use’s a stolen ssn dosent mean that he pays on that number or does he? The fact is they have stolen id’s and to have any paycheck that takes out taxes or ssn dosent mean they pay taxes for them selves.Besides the general fund is broke and even all of us that did pay in are not going to receive any of it back.Where do you think they spent the money on?

    • shirleyA

Hey Josh, I do not believe most Americans want the Dream
Act to pass. I am Mexican American, my family has been
in Arizona for generations, I hope this bill does not pass.
I was brought up in a conservative home, with my dad always telling
us we have to respect the laws of the land. I empathize with
these kids but they need to gain citizenship through our legal
process. Many fellow Americans are hurting right now including
      myself. America first.

    • smoothnu

Americans do not want the Dream Act! Illegals and bleeding hearts want the Dream Act. Neither of which helped to build this country. Neither of which contribute to this country. Both are nothing more than a liability to this country as a whole.

Illegals use the Emergency Room for their family doctor. The government picks up the tab. ( yes they get free medical) Yes it’s the hard working men and women of this country that fund the government. That means you people with a legitimate job! Illegals are parasites by definition. Drag them and their anchors babies the Hell out of this country! (after of course everything they have is confiscated) If they come back they should get hard time in a man camp in the middle of the desert. Or some kind of punishment that would be comparable to that of ….Turkeys judicial system. Bet they wouldn’t go there twice.

    • james karalis

Speak for your self ! They all need to be sent back to there TURD World rat-holes they came from even the anchor babys that were born here .

    • legal migrant

I’m an American and I did the hard way! don’t speak for me or the rest of the nation! send the leeches back! TRAITOR
