Christian Group Appalled By Obama's Arrogance After Midterm Elections

A Christian organization claims that President Barack Obama showed "arrogance" by pushing for the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" a day after voters resoundingly expressed their disagreement with his policies.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, took exception with Obama's post-election speech on Nov. 3, when he urged Congress to pass the defense budget during the upcoming lame-duck session. If passed, the bill would revoke a ban that prevents openly gay individuals from serving in the military.
Democrats hold the majority in both chambers of Congress until Republicans regain control of the House of Representatives in January. The GOP picked up at least 60 seats in the midterm elections, which is the biggest turnover in the House since 1948.
According to The National Journal, Obama said that the Pentagon will complete its review of "don't ask, don't tell" in early December, which will give Congress time to consider the issue before the end of the legislative session.
"The study itself is likely to have problems, and the next natural step would be to have the new 112th Congress hold hearings on the issue," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. "To force such a drastic change on our military in the middle of fighting two wars is disrespectful of our troops, and should not be tolerated."
