Security Group Hired By Alaska Senate Candidate Linked To Militia Group, Political Blogs Report

Several Alaskan political blogs are claiming that a security company hired by Senate GOP candidate Joe Miller is tied to the Alaska Citizens Militia (ACM).
According to media reports, bloggers allege that the owner of the security detail Drop Zone — which arrested a journalist at a Miller campaign event on Oct. 17 — is a commander and "supply sergeant" for the ACM. On the militia group's website, political arrests and the restriction of freedom of speech are listed as "acts of war."
Earlier this week, the blog Immoral Minority posted a copy of Drop Zone's expired business license, which the security group attempted to reapply for on Oct. 19.
No charges will be filed against Alaska Dispatch editor Tony Hopfinger, who was arrested by Drop Zone guards for allegations of trespassing and assault while attempting to interview Miller. The candidate claimed that Hopfinger blocked his access to an exit and made threatening gestures and movements towards him, according to media reports.
Miller is expected to face stiff competition from write-in candidate Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) in November's midterm elections. On Oct. 20, Miller filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Super PAC, a group that provides financial support for Murkowski.
According to Politico.com, Miller alleges that nine of the benefactors of Super PAC are in violation of Federal law because they contract with the Federal government.
