Pakistan Could Be Obama's Biggest Blunder

President Barack Obama has been so preoccupied with the November elections that he has shamefully neglected foreign policy. This is especially true with regard to Pakistan — a nuclear nation that could soon tumble into the hands of Muslim extremists who want to buy a one-way ticket to paradise by killing Infidels.

Despite deficits that have mounted into the trillions of dollars, the Obama administration has been downright miserly towards Pakistan. The result is a fractured Pakistan that may yet be swallowed up by jihad.

According to The Express Tribune, “It is an undeniable fact that a revolution is coming in Pakistan.”

The sobering truth points to one thing — Pakistan is at a tipping point. Whether it is an intended strategy or willful neglect by Obama, radical Muslims could soon seize control of this military superpower and its bristling array of nuclear weapons. If you think President Jimmy Carter executed poor foreign policies during his one term, consider this: Pakistan is Iran on steroids and may become bent on our destruction.

This month militants in Pakistan have destroyed several large and desperately needed fuel supplies headed for our embattled troops in Afghanistan.

Worse yet, these attacks come just days after the Pakistani government — our supposed ally — blocked entry into Afghanistan, bringing the American — Pakistan relationship to an all-time low.

Obama’s war against Afghan insurgents is pushing Pakistan towards the brink of civil war, warns Time Magazine’s Robert Baer: "We’re reduced to common sense in figuring out where Pakistan’s breaking point is. The war in Afghanistan has done nothing for Pakistan’s stability, and in fact it’s gotten progressively shakier over the past 10 years.”

Another Islam Misstep By Obama
Pakistan is America’s most important ally against the war on terror. President George W. Bush understood that and provided Islamabad with more than $11 billion after the 9/11 attacks. But under Obama, President Asif Ali Zardari’s government has received just a tiny fraction of that amount.

Zardari admits that he is nearly impotent against the Taliban-led insurgency that began after Obama assumed office. Today the Taliban encircles the capital, Islamabad.

According to Zardari the United States is not providing enough money to deal with the 18,000 madrassas (radical Muslim religious schools) or enough to backstop Pakistan’s security forces including its army.

There is much at stake, admitted Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: “One of our concerns is that if the worst, the unthinkable were to happen, and this advancing Taliban… were to essentially topple the government for failure to beat them back, then they would have the keys to the nuclear arsenal of Pakistan. We can’t even contemplate that.”

Recent catastrophic floods have pushed Pakistan’s economy to the edge. Islamabad’s debt has ballooned to $55 billion and any tax base to fill it has evaporated. One third of Pakistan’s population has fallen below the poverty line.

A disaster of Biblical proportions is pushing the Islamic nation of 170 million people towards economic collapse. Agriculture has been ravaged by floodwaters that have submerged nearly a quarter of the country’s farmland and swept away 70 percent of the roads and bridges. More than 10,000 schools and 500 hospitals have been destroyed or damaged. There are doubts that the land will improve before the autumn wheat planting. If that happens Pakistan faces starvation. Yet Obama pays no heed to Pakistan’s plight.

The Montreal Gazette reports that millions of Pakistanis — who were just surviving before the floodwaters hit — are now homeless and unable to feed themselves. According to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, losses from the flood could reach $43 billion which is an Obama-like fortune for this Third World country. Western analysts say that the end result could cause 20 percent inflation. All this for a country already mired in a terrible economic depression.

This month eight suspected German nationals were killed in a U.S. launched missile drone strike in north-western Pakistan. The group is called Jihad al Islami and their very existence has sparked a not-so-funny joke.

Question: “Which is worse: German Nazis or Pakistan Jihadists?
Answer: German Jihadists.”

Pakistan’s Nukes Are America’s Worst Nightmare
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO has been unopposed. That is until now. This month container trucks and fuel tankers that supply 80 percent of NATO’s needs in Afghanistan were blocked by Pakistan forces. This may turn into the biggest embargo America and its allies have faced since Stalin sealed off Berlin six decades ago. It demonstrates what a thin string Obama’s policies are hanging by.

When I was a kid my dad actually started digging a bomb shelter during the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Those were crazy times and it left me worried about nuclear war until I was almost 30. Like many of you, I thought that the collapse of Communism had arrested nuclear Armageddon, at least in my lifetime. But Pakistan is the cause of a whole new nightmare. It is a nuke toting nation whose arsenal may fall under the control of Muslim radicals.

According to Zardari, “We are not a failed state yet but we may become one in 10 years.”

Don’t bet that Zardari isn’t being overly optimistic. His wife — the charismatic Benazir Bhutto — was perhaps the country’s last legitimate national leader before she was brutally assassinated. Since her death the Taliban have launched hundreds of terrorist attacks across Pakistan. The situation has become so bad that Zardari is now a captive of a bunker that more resembles Adolf Hitler’s Wolfsschanze military headquarters than it does a presidential palace in a democratic society.

Things have gotten so bad the Obama administration is attacking the enemy within Pakistan’s borders. If you don’t think that is an alliance in crisis imagine American B-17s bombing England on D-Day.

The Guardian newspaper says the Obama administration has lost patience with Islamabad. This should be worrisome to the world. After all, Zardari’s teetering government is all that stands between us and a Jihad armed with 100 nuclear weapons. Last week in OpEdNews, Michael Payne wrote: “The probability that this scenario (involving Pakistan) could explode into a war like no other in history grows greater every day.”

While Obama’s domestic policies have been atrocious, his lasting legacy may be his failure to deal with Islam and Pakistan. And frankly, I am too old to start digging a bomb shelter.

    We have a President that we are not sure what side he is on! Is he a follower of Islam? Was he raised as a Muslim?

    Look at the restrictions our military have in Afganistan? Who is he protecting, our military or the Muslims?

    He is bringing 350,000 Muslims into our country. We have to be providing them with food, clothes, houses! These are people that hate us. If this President cared about us, why would he do this?

    In my whole life I have never been afraid for my family as I am now. We have a government that we don’t trust. We have a govt. run by people who believe in putting birth control in our water. A govt. that prevents our farmers from having the water they need to grow our crops. It goes on and on. We live in very scary times!

        Yeah, but now we are getting them from all the other places in the world as well right now. We havn’t – to my knowledge – engaged in war with Iran, Africa (particularly Nigeria), Mexico, Central America or China. And that seems to be where most are coming from.

    I recently saw an article in which Oblamam had promised them over $700 billion to rebuild their country and modernize it. I don’t see that mention here in this article. Does anyone else remember it … or did I just not read it correctly? I remember thinking at the time that we couldn’t afford that much more money we don’t have going out.

      It’s not that simple Caliber. The Taliban has been in the mountains of Pakistan well before the Russian invasion. They have been taking over this territory and gathering recruits before 9/11. These religious schools have been recruiting way before Obama became President. I know Obama and the Pakistani army have been bombing these mountain hideouts but that creates another problem. Think Vietnam and Nixons’ invasion and bombing of Cambodia. It solved little but unleashed the Kymer Rouge. They took advantage of Nixon’s invasion and launched their own take over. We know the results of that. We could end up destroying the weakened government of Pakistan and create more chaos. The Madrassas are now taking advantage of the turmoil and could win their “war” of ideas. Pakistan has always looked at India as the greater threat to their country. When it’s always been their own radical Madrassas they should have been concerned about. A very big miscalculation but every country who has an enemy (India in this case)uses it to drum up nationalism.

        The Taliban is a tribe. The al Qida is a terrorist group that recruits members. The Taliban lived in that area since time began – and the border means nothing to them since that area is all Taliban.

        They had basically been driven back and weren’t doing much until Oblama made his appology for whatever it was he gave it for. It was then that the Taliban gained renewed hope and started their push.

        the Al Qida are the ones who recruit – and they were in the area to recruit when Oblama came along. Now they are going gung ho about the whole thing and egging the Taliban on, I’m sure.

    Let the Taliban try to take over and use nukes on their neighbors. This will kill off many of our enemies and will create a huge war between the various Mulslim factions in the middle east. I’m sick and tired of those that continue to beleive we need to protect everybody. We can mop up when everything is said and done and promote allies in the region. Screw the oil, this will force us to drill here and not rely on the middle BFE east. Sure it will be tough on us but I don’t give a rats ass about our supposed allies in the M.E.

      We can’t drill for oil here. Oblama has given it to the CHinese to keep them loaning us money. The Chinese just “bought” a large ng field in South Texas and are looking for an oil company to buy. And then guess who will be allowed to drill and who isn’t? And guess where all the American oil and gas will go?

        Everything pulled out of the ground in the US as far as oil and gas….goes to the international marketplace to be bought by the highest bidder.

        It was set up that way before it was even drilled. The original idea was to bring it down to the US by pipeline and refine it here for our use. But the way the oil companies get most of their profits is by “selling” the oil to a holding company when it reaches international waters and then “buying” it back at an increased rate – which is what their profits are based upon. They use Hong Kong since there is no law there that demands disclosure of ownership of the holding company. They didn’t want the oil to go in American or Candian lands because that would have prevented that “sale”.

Like Mack Trucks who was purchased by Volvo and had been here since its beginnings Lehigh Portland Cement is moving it WORLD HEADQUARTERS out of our valley after a century and more.

    JUST NOW AND TODAY OUR LOCAL MEDIA ANNOUNCED THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS ALLOWING PERU TO IMPORT CEMENT INTO NEW YORK CITY. This was the only business the 5 last remaining companies in the valley had to keep them open.

    When the cement from Peru starts coming in to the USA it will close the last of our valley cement companies, trucking companies and many other related industries.

    Channel 69 just announced that The Obama Administration is allowing stimulus money to be used to import cement into New York City from Peru.

    REPRESENTATIVE Charlie Dent had representatives from the last 5 Cement companies in the Lehigh Valley meet with him to fight this importation of cement.

    Keystone and four other companies have been running at only 30 percent and this would close them if allowed to happen.

    Who would ever believed our cities and new structures would be build with cement from Peru?

    Isn’t this a shame what is happening to the USA? Please vote for the conservative in Nov.

      The liberals would have it that Bush drove the jobs from the USA, and not their regulations, taxes, and union demands. We can’t have a fair trade deal unless all foreign operations comply with the same regulations as domestic ones are forced to. That is not a “free market”, that is government destroying it’s own GDP. It also cripples our defensive abilty, because steel and concrete are the back bone of national defense, both of which, along with vital technologies, have been exported. One EMP and we will be back to horses and sails, foreign imports will take months or years. We need local productive ability, we need not just the jobs but to keep the skills alive and machinery intact. When Reconstruction saw the relocation of Northern textile mills to the south, machinery not removed sat idle for decades, when China buys out our southern textile mills, they destroy the machinery to prevent it ever competing with them again. We have to import food, clothing, medicines, vehicle and avionics parts, what would happen if WW3 happens and we have some clown who has declared we would never use nukes to defend ourselves sitting in the White House?

    I have always been told to stay out of debt, and save up for a rainy day. We know that Congress members do not do this when it comes to the taxpayers money. I am a registered Republican, but I consider myself a conservative. I grew up poor and that has a tendency to make a person conservative. This is the way I see it. We have Communist, Socialist, Liberals, and many other people in our government. Think of it this way; the two main parties are Republican and Democrat. Now the people who would like to change our system of government cannot run on a ticket of being a Communist, Socialist, or a liberal, or they would never get elected. So, they have to either run as a Republican or a Democrat to be able to get elected. This is why you have bad people in both parties. This could be stopped, or slowed down considerably if the idiots of both parties would vet their candidates better than what they have in the past. Just think, if the Democrats would have vetted Barack Hussein NObama we would not be discussing his birth certificate issue, or whether he is a Muslim or not. When a person applies for a law enforcement job he is thoroughly vetted. Even when I was in the military I was fingerprinted and had to name what religious denomination I was. Now, since this applies to these jobs, you would surely think it would apply to the position of being a president of a nation who will be in charge of all the nations security. Our Nations debt has been building up for the last 30 years, but it has really gained momentum under NObama. I’ll tell you exactly what our trouble is; it is the peoples failure to know what in the hell their law makers are doing on Capital Hill. We vote them in, and then we never see them again until they come back and start begging for their job back, again. After they are elected to Congress a lot of them come out rich. Do you suppose they are taking money under the table from some of the lobbyists that go to Capital Hill. I would almost bet my life this is happening. People are going to have to wake up and start watching their representatives in Congress like they watch their favorite baseball game, football game, basketball games, and etc. Until this happens, there will never be any change on Capital Hill. There are good and bad on both sides of the isle. Instead of voting Republican, or Democrat, let’s vet our individual candidate, and vote for the individual instead or the party. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

        I hear what your saying, and agree somewhat, but the problem Ive seen for quite sometime, is some Republicans have stopped being true conservatives, and I dont see any Democrats that are conservative. If their party says tow the party line on murdering infants in the womb, they will tow that line. If they say tow the party line on giving benefits to illegal aliens, they tow that party line. Im thinking that is why Evan Bayh resigned in Indiana, because he didnt want to be a part of what they are doing. Allthough I am a Republican, I know who Evan Bayh is and he was a good man in office, and I think they got to him, and he left. It is a shame to me, and I do take the time to educate myself as to the choices on election day, as to who they are and what they stand for, and its pretty much for awhile now, been a case of voting for the lesser of two evils, and it shouldnt have to be that way. But when you get a bunch of lawyers running things, I guess there isnt a lot more to expect than that.

    Margaret commenting on Obama. Well currently he is the President and elected by people. But he should have knowledge of all and that is the duty of intelligence. Our intelligence is surely great but there is a big huge gap as in relation to Pakistan. Pakistan is still considered a normal, civil society and a friendly nation. Whereas the reality is that Pakistan has become a terror state, a rough nation with no leadership, driven by a military that has an entire brigade disguised as Taleban. More than that the Military even has a civil brigade who disguises as a political party to run and influence local elections in some areas like Karachi. Pakistan is the epicenter of terror for the world.

    This country needs very careful attention and the US leadership must immediately do some realtime work on this issue.
    As John Myers rightly points out the biggest problem is that majority of 95% of Pakistanis are innocent victims of the war lords and Islamic lobby who are actually use these populace. Pakistani citizens do not have any civil services that common people have. There is no education, no electricity. Only madrassas have been opened with the aid money that are catering as recruiting centers for new terrorists.

    All US money that was given to Pakistan for disaster relief was misused and is being used to build up more networks and to create more power for terrorists. Many of the top 5 big charities in Pakistan are actually driven by Pakistani military’s ISI directly and you can ask any common Pakistani on the street.

    It is a joke as Most diplomats posted in Islamabad only frequent a few bars and hotels and hardly meet any common people. Any ordinary person in any Pakistani city will tell you from where the terror is coming than about 1000 intelligence officers relying on newspaper reports.

    USA IS IN WAR and it is not equipped with proper intelligence and this will cause total fracas and failure of Nato and Pakistani terror state will dominate the scene along with their masters in Beijing.

    You will see how US forces will return after having failed there in this region.

Their next target is Israel and Europe. Irani missiles may work or not but Pakistani missiles with Chinese technologies who stole from the USA by espionage do work well as already tested.
    EUROPE and Parts of Near East Mediterranean and South Asia may have the worst nuclear annihilation and after that what could happen to the world is simply a thought.

    We must stop Pakistan from further deteriorating the situation. Almost 90% of terror attacks world wide are designed, plotted and executed from Rawalpindi/Islamabad and Dubai cities and there is a huge network of Pakistani airforce, airlines, diplomatic and other international agencies offices that are routinely used to assist the terror networks.
    CIA is sleeping and has no clue and the intelligence is only focusing on wrong places. Saudis and UAE fund many of these big operations. 100% of all charities based in USA and UK specially by Pakistanis are nothing but front operations for funneling funds to the terrorists.

      Ben, you are so right. I saw through NObama also, way before he was voted in as president. I think it was the majority of the younger crowd that put this Muslim in office. After all this time NObama has been in office, there appears to be some people who still supports his ideology. All I can say is, I feel sorry for them. This man came out of the darkness, No one, including myself, really knew who he was until he ran for president. I followed him to get to know him and it did not take me long to realize that he was a narcissist person with a lot of hot air. That is so damn scary. These people that voted for him did not educate themselves at all. To vote for anyone, in any office, as little as a recording secretary in a town, to mayor, to congressman, to Senator, Governor and President, one should educate them as to what that person stands for, what their belief system is. Where they are from, who they associate with, their moral fabric. What course they want to take. All of these things should be found out before one pulls the lever next to their name. To do any less is un-acceptable, and un-educated and irresponsible. This happened to us in 2008, and now look at the price this country is paying. Its sad, and scary.

    Either Herr Obummer’s hope and change approach has some interesting flaws in it, or he could argue that he’s just doing what he’s told. The basic issue was (and still is) whether or not we can truly justify being in that part of the world.
    Isn’t it bad enough that we’re the world’s cop? We don’t have the resources to carry out that role. Doesn’t this make America a reincarnation of old Rome? Mr. Obama can say what he wants (after he clears it with his handlers, that is). He’s not good for America.
    Is there anything that he can’t screw up in the name of democracy or whatever term fits? Under other circumstances, I’d wish him good luck, but it just doesn’t apply with him.
    If ‘damned if we do and damned if we don’t’ is the best we can expect from this spectacularly aromatic administration, then you don’t need a frickin’ crystal ball to see what’s coming, folks. Oh, what a tangled web is weaved by those whose arses aren’t owned by America.

      Let’s go through some recent history…supplementing what Myers ‘conveneiently’ omitted in his lame attempt to blame the Obama Administration for the mess in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

      First, Shrub/Cheney … they isoltaed the US in having any alliances other than pakistan in the war in Afghanistan. With a nice touch of idiocy and clumsiness..they cut off the Northern supply routes through the ‘stans up north. They isolated Turkey with the support for the Kurds in Iraq after being slapped dwn by Turkey when Shrub and Cheney went to enrich their pals and lied us into war with Iraq. Then..in a master stroke, they gave billions…billions in Danegeld to Pakista’s dictatorship and military to buy them off…while at the ame time turning a blind eye to the corruption, state imposed fear and control, and obvious aid to the Taliban.

      When Bhyutto was assiasinated just 13 days before what appeared to be an election victory…an assasination so transparent to be laid at the feet of the dictatorship and military…Shrub went so far as to urge the continuation of the elections guaranteeing the dictatorship a hollow victory.

      Meanwhile…our Main Supply Route was always under attack whenever shipments went north to our troops.

      Now fast forward to this summer when flooding hit the country. Hve you read what the leadership of pakista did? They took European vacations and left the country. Fact is, they have refused all aid unless it is funneled through ‘authorized” agencies…which means, they skim off the top.

      So Sparky…despite what Myers wants you to believe, our Sec of State is dealing with this debacle left by Bush/Cheney.

      One can readily see the results of we had continued to give blanket support to the crrupt regime…take a look at what occurred with the Shah in Iran and subsequent events.

      Instead, this Administration is taking out taliban and al Qaeda leadership whenever they get a shot at it, they have tied any further monies to forcing improvements to the countryside and forced a strict diet of accountability, and begun to position the US to whatever emerges once this regime is overthrown…because we cannot support it without eventually having another Iran situation.

      It’s easy to spout nonsense and idiocy … the first posters on this subject and Myers article proves that hands down.

      But to say we have ignored Pakistan and calling for unfettered contiued support of this corrupt regime? Jeesh …. that’s bordering on deliberate aiding of the terrorists.

    Do you actually think that India is going to stand idly by while this happens? The biggest thing we need to do is to be prepared to get our troops out of Afghanistan – like right now.

    No, but it is one Hell of a lot easier to use nuclear weapons against the Jihadi’s if we don’t have troops in their midst. We should have used nukes there in the first place right after 911 at the very least against Kandahar (where Bin Laden was living after 911) and Tora Bora.

Expedient interpretation of religion is a problem, but no more so than expedient interpretation of the Constitution, or “global warming”, or how to create jobs, etc.

Japan didn’t effect the world much as it was a smaller kiloton than what we have here and it wasn’t a desert as is the middle east. If you explode a nuke there you are going to push so much radio active dust into the air that you better pray that the prevailing winds circle the middle east till it all drops, and we all know that WON’T happen. Chernobyl was an accident at a nuke plant that didn’t put up much radio active dust into the prevailing winds yet we measured rads here from it. while they weren’t high, it could be far worse if it is a nuke in all that sifting sand!!!

        I was living in Germany when Chernobyl occurred, and the radiation was sufficiently high that the Germans took the cows off the gtazing land, we couldn’t drink local milk, and were told not to eat the produce from out gardens. And that level of radiation was miniscule compared to what would be in the air if ANY nuclear exchange occurred in the world.

      Which brings up another reason for this post:
      I maintain that mis-steps in Pakistan are not nearly his biggest blunder. His biggest blunder has been his revealing his version of OUR Declaration of Independence. I don’t know whether it was a trial ballon, deliberate display of his arrogant expectations or a mistake on his part that reveals his deepest/secret dark intents.
      When his quotation was, “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed with certain…” and left out “by their Creator” it should be a monumental harbinger of his heart’s desire.
      He evidently sees ” the Creator” as an undesireable part of our national heritage, historic documents, shrines and solemn public addresses delivered to the people. It is chilling in this connection.
      Only two sources of rights can exist that I know of. Either God bequeathes them or governments do. If God gives them they are His permanent investment in mankind. If government gives rights, since governments consist of men, they may be rescinded at those men’s whim.
      What men give, men can take away.
      Either they govern or they rule. When people decide to refuse to acknowledge God or His existence, or abandon that recognition or exclude it from common relationships somebody stands to forfeit EVERYTHING!
      Whomever you recognize as superior to you or to whom you give (or whoever TAKES) a position even a tiny bit more equal than you better be someone who likes you. Further you need to be very specially mindful to stay on their “good” side.

      Obama doesn’t make many speech blunders…even Harvard professors can read teleprompters. So I think it safe to consider, given the plethora of previous evidence from this administration’s behavior, what he said to truly represent his conscious intents.

        President and Mrs. Obama, to me, epitomize the downside of affirmative action — the Entitlement/Victim Mentality. A lot of good people are caught up in this.         The most important step a minority could ever take in this country is to go to a businessperson or mentor in some field, and say “Will you teach me how to succeed in this – I will gladly work for free for the opportunity!”

        This would have a greater economic and character impact than ANYTHING government could “do” for the people. People have to unlock their own self-respect, and working hard toward a goal is the key to the door!

        HF, Having Rights doesn’t mean being free to do whatever one wants. Christians are restricted by God’s Laws, or, at least, are supposed to be. God has an agenda, which involves the whole earth, however that isn’t preached anymore. Now, Christian churches focus only on Salvation and the hereafter. If one believes he will live happily everafter in heaven, immediately after he dies, he has no incentive to do anything about the turmoils of the moment or even the destiny of his own nation.

        HFlashman – Sounds as if it may be a sincere question. I can give an answer…the opinion I’ve formed from reading and acting on the Book.

        Those Christians who are bound up in legalistic rules and regulations to the extent it seems to hinder them – not all are – are that way because they don’t read the Bible for themselves but let some one-bit (not worth two-bits) closet homo minister or pedophile priest tell them what they should be believing and doing. It was the same way in the Old Testament times. The Devil is scared to death that God’s people will believe His instructions and begin to tear down stuff the Adversary has spent centuries setting up. So, Split-foot manages to weasel his best foot-soldiers into positions of authority to teach and interpret God’s Word to whole denominations and congregations.

        The only thing in the world Satan is afraid of is God’s Word because Satan can’t beat God. It shows to us what God can and will do in us if we believe what it says and discipline (disciple) ourselves to what it says that applies to the time-frame in which we live (according to His time-table). It has always been true that when somebody studies it himself, gets the understanding of it rightly and acts on it faithfully for a while the world, for that individual, assumes an entirely different perspective. Why? Because studying God’s Word begins to give one an idea of how God looks at things.(I’d compare it to the difference between looking down at a city from an eagle’s viewpoint or peering through it from ground level. It’s better to be an eagle than an ant.)

        More impotantly, as the Creator of the Universe, God has power to DO stuff in it. To a faithful, committed child of His He will share some of that power to accomplish things He wants done. (He won’t ask you to make a fool of yourself. It reflects on Him.) He’s a pretty good businessman and He has an investment in somebody who stays faithful. He will do things to assist, provide for and protect His investment. But, we have to ask on the basis of the agreement between us. We sign on, the clauses in the covenant become available to us as we act believingly. (Unbelievers never get the bennys because they NEVER ask.
        Why would an atheist ever ask God for anything? So, they’re on their own.)

        It isn’t a “crutch”. It’s a tool and instruction manual rolled into one (with examples of both good and bad, results and consequences). A tool to build the life you decide you want as you help Him accomplish what He wants. It’s a two-way deal.

        Does that help answer your question? If you want to sign on you can do it right now. God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Believe it and decide you want his help and instruction, so you make him your boss.

        Now, start studying and drive your mind to understand what’s written so you can do it. Expect to see a whole bunch of “co-incidences” start happening.

        Our inalienable rights come from only ONE source. Our creator. Not governments. Our forefathers described the situation very clearly in the declaration of independence.

        Note that governments are created by men and have NO RIGHTS AT ALL. Governments are allowed powers with the consent of the governed.

        Since the government has no rights it can not bestow rights.

        Now to the curious removal of “by their Creator”. It’s absence tells us alot about how Obama thinks but changes nothing. Governments do not bestow rights. All rights come from YOUR creator. Name him/her/it as you will. It changes nothing.

        The most significant gift your creator gave you and from whence all rights spawn is free will. Apply this first principle and all that we hold dear and moral falls neatly into place in the scheme of all there is.

        Well, yes and no. Jefferson’s expression of Natural Rights came from, primarily, Locke’s 2nd Treatise on Civil Government. Under Natural Law we have thousands of rights, up to and including the right to take someone’s life even for less than self defense. The idea of the social compact theory was that we give up certain rights to the government in order to coexist as a civilized society. These rights, freely given up to the government in exchange for protection, are the powers of government.

        The society that constituted itself in 1789 ceded rights to the government. You may call them “powers” or “rights” of government, they’re one and the same. It can be argued that the right to citizenship is not a natural right, since it is only through the law of the land (man’s law, the Constitution) that a person is granted this right (by birth) or as a privilege (naturalization).

        Vigilant, we didn’t give up ‘rights’ to the federal government. We gave up certain ‘powers’ (those in Art. I, Sec. 8). The Bill of Rights, added two years later, in 1791, restricts the national government from exercising any power over rights, except where the exercise of such rights might jeopardize the security of the nation. They start with “Congress shall make no law” concerning the five rights mentioned therein. Amendments two through eight, mention other rights, then Amendment Nine states that that restrictive theme applies to all rights whether enumerated therein or not, and the Tenth Amendment reminds Congress that “powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution…are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
        No power over rights has ever been delegated to Congress, and the Bill of Rights was added to make that point clear.

        My expression of rights comes from first cause. The existence of free will. (People who do not believe in free will can stop reading this :) )

        I have to right to life as does your strawman. I do have the power to kill. I do NOT have the right to kill. Should the strawman you provided decide to deprive me of my right to life I have a duty to my Creator to defend the gift given to me (life). Should the strawman fail to survive my defense that is between him and his Creator.

        I have the power not the right to kill. We in the US, Thru the Constitution have handed to government certain powers. One of them is the power to kill. Government did not get the right to kill. Just the power. Now we also gave very strict rules for government to use before it can kill. (It as in thru agents who are of course human).         The government did not grant any rights to the people who had been held in slavery. The government merely realized that the people were PEOPLE not animals or 3/5ths of a people. Actually it was WE THE PEOPLE who realized that a person is a person regardless of the person’s skin color. The government simply accepted this fact and forced state governments who where not so willing to accept the fact that people with REALLY good suntans are still PEOPLE.

        Jefferson’s understanding of Natural Law appears nowhere in the Constitution nor anywhere else in our founding documents. It took so long to ratify the Constitution because States wanted federal power to be extrememly limited and they wanted to cede as little control as possible.

        The original Constitution (in which Jefferson took no part) is a list of four things the feds can do and the Bill of Rights is basically a confirmation that the feds are to have very limited power. The federation was the first organization of its kind in modern times. The States were considered sovereign except in surrendering some of that to the feds in common defense, trade, and international relations.

        That’s why it was so outrageous that the northinvaded the South as soon as Va seceded. There was no right to do so because the state ahd freely entered into the compact and simply opted out because the northeast that owned Lincoln had overtaxed Southern exports.

That right is secured,(not granted), by law. Most of us still have the ‘power’(since we exercise our right to bear arms), to kill for reasons less than self defense, but no ‘right’ to do so.

        ‘Rights’ and ‘powers’ are neither synonymous nor interchangeable in use. Neither our Government nor any government agent has any rights to exercise on behalf of the government. The government by and through its agents may exercise only those few and enumerated powers delegated to it by the Constitution.

        I have never contended that Jefferson’s understanding of Natural Law appears in the Constitution…where do you get that from? I have no argument with you, except that Jefferson had a very important part in counseling his good friend Madison, the “Father of the Constitution.” Madison, who began by passionately defending the Constitution as a Federalist, slowly became an Antifederalist to the point that he urged the Bill of Rights to blunt the power of the Feds.

        Sir, you are absolutely wrong on that score. If you are to refer to “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside,” then please explain to me why the Indians, slaves, and Tories were not considered citizens of the USA. Simply, because they were not “persons” in the meaning of the provision.

        Any group of people who constitute themselves is free to define who is a citizen and who is not. The people of America denied that privilege to the categories stated above.

This is Constitutional law, and I suggest YOU “read it more carefully.”

        Once again, Tories, Indians and slaves were not citizens. If you doubt that, consider that if the slaves were citizens, the 3/5 compromise on Congressional representation would never have been required.

        You are quoting the 10 Commandments from the Judeo/Christian Bible. The Constitution is not based on the Bible, it is based on the expression of Natural Law as contained in the Declaration of Independence. The important Founders were almost exclusively Deists, and were interested in the tenets of Natural Law as expressed by Enlightenment philosophers such as John Locke, et. al.

        This is, without a doubt one of the best discussions I have ever read on this site. I see that, by the end Vigilant was getting a bit frustrated and perhaps a bit grumpy, and I don’t believe that it was necessary to be quite so harsh with Vicki, but I must stand by Vigilantes’ interpretation of the words used by those great men of the enlightenment.

        Kudos do go to Vicki for her explanation of the origin of our basic rights “All rights come from YOUR creator. Name him/her/it as you will. It changes nothing.” The emphasis here should be, as she placed it, on “YOUR CREATOR.” The founders were clear that not all men recognize the same creator and it’s nice to see that recognized.

        For amusement I looked up the words right and power and found right occurred in the Constitution (outside the bor) only in ref to inventors.

        The word power occurred in many places being the items we delegated to the fedgov.

        As James mentioned in another comment the BoR was added cause the founding fathers were pretty sure that the government would presume powers far beyond their station.

        In it rights ALWAYS refer to properties of people and powers to actions of people unless the people delegated those powers to the government at some level (Amendment 10).

        The word right is used in
        Amendment 1 – “…the right of the people peaceably to assemble,…”
        Amendment 2 – “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms…”
        Amendment 4 – “The right of the people to be secure….”
        Amendment 6 – “…the accused shall enjoy the right….”
        Amendment 7 – “…the right of trial by jury shall be preserved…”

        And Amendment 9 which I shall quote in its entirety.
        The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

        Yes Our forefathers did indeed understand the difference between rights, powers and privileges.

        We are led by our national press and newspapers to believe that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are our friends. I beg to differ. Both of these countries use us for what they can get, and would love for nothing more than the muslim world to take us over. Pakistan has for a long time hid Bin Laden and given him comfort, and Saudi Arabia you can bet has given him information every time we got close to him. They all over there in the muslim world, have the belief, that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. So they can talk all they want that they are our friends, but cut off our supply of money and aid and military support for them, and watch the dogs attack us. Saudi Arabia dont forget, was the home off almost all of the 9-11 attackers. They are as dirty a dog as they come, and the only reason they dont attack us or try to, is they need our protection, and they dont want to spend too much money on a military, as they are busy spending it on buying prostitutes, gold sinks and bath tubs, and living high off the hog. Pakistan is dirty as is Saudi Arabia. I do not trust any of them.

        My biggest concern, is our troops, who will be too close should such a war break out with any of the neighboring countries, the only thing they can do, is seize pak’s nukes and remove them from the theatre, otherwise they should LEAVE NOW. No country getting billions of US dollars to help find Bin Laden, will let us succeed. Cut off the money for cooperation, or surrender of the nukes, or GET OUT NOW. Partnerships don’t work when your “partner” is working against you.
