Honoring Our Country's Flag

October 1, 2010 by

Honoring Our Country's Flag

Do you live in a community of flag flyers?  I’m happy to say that I do. Several of my neighbors fly the Stars and Stripes proudly every day of the year. My immediate neighbor has his up shortly after dawn and takes it down solemnly every night at dusk.

But it’s not just my neighbor. On July 4 and then again on Sept. 11 there were flags flying on most of the houses in our neighborhood. One gentleman had an entire row of them running along the sidewalk in front of his house.

How about in your neighborhood; and at your house?  If you haven’t been flying the U.S. flag lately may I encourage you to do so?  You’ll feel better seeing the Stars and Stripes waving bravely in the wind. And so will the other people who see it; or at least most of them, I bet.

I think there may be an age thing going on here. I live in a community of people who are mostly retired. Heck, I’m supposed to be retired myself, but I got so bored after I sold the company I founded, I had to find something to do or my wife was going to kill me. Well, not really. But there are only so many hinges you can oil and light bulbs you can change.

So I took on a part-time job. Then another one. Then a third one. Now I find myself with more to do than when I was working full-time. No complaints, you understand. Writing three columns a week for Personal Liberty — and seeing some of the comments and controversy they stir up — is one of the great joys of my life.

Back to the flag. I’m sure there are many communities where it would be hard to find a flag flying, even on the 4th of July. If you happen to live in one of them I feel sorry for you. And even more for your neighbors; sounds like they may be such poor citizens they don’t even read Straight Talk.

But here’s an idea: Why don’t you try to start a new trend?  Go to your local hardware store and buy a flag and a mount for it. It will only cost you a few dollars.

Put it up near your front door or on a tree in your front yard. Or on your garage or by an attic window; you’ll know where it makes the most sense.

Then start flying it and see what happens. Every day is a good day to fly the flag, but some holidays are especially appropriate. I’ve already mentioned the 4th of July and Sept. 11. Later this month there’s Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 11) and Navy Day (Wednesday, Oct. 27). Don’t forget Veterans Day on Nov. 11, or Thanksgiving two weeks later.

By the way, if you would like to have a really special flag to fly outside your home, here’s an idea: Get one that has flown over the U.S. Capitol. You may not know it, but it’s possible to order such flags through your United States Senator. In fact, you can go one better — you can request one be flown on a specific day of the year, such as your anniversary or birthday.

Years ago I got one for my mother that had been flown on her birthday. She was so thrilled, she cried. She had me mount it right outside her front door. We put a spotlight near it so she could fly it at night. (Contrary to what many people think, the U.S. Flag Code says it’s perfectly all right to fly the flag at night, so long as it is properly illuminated.)  Whenever I pulled into her driveway, her flag was one of the first things I saw. And I always felt better when I did.

If you don’t know who your U.S. Senators are (you have two of them), let me tell you how to find out. Just click here for the government website and type in your state. When you do, the names, addresses, and contact information for your senators will appear. Pick one, call his or her office, and a member of their staff will be delighted to be of assistance.

And here’s an extra treat: Your flag will arrive with a certificate from the Architect of the Capitol certifying that your flag was flown as requested. If you mention that the flag is for a special occasion that information will be included on the form. Perhaps you know someone, like my mother, who would be thrilled to receive such a gift. May I remind you that Christmas is just three months away?

Let me mention a couple of other things you may not have known about the proper etiquette for flying the U.S. flag:

  • The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered more slowly. This applies more to raising it on a flag pole than it does to mounting it on your home, but keep it in mind.
  • The flag should never be allowed to touch the ground (or the water, if on a boat). But it is not true that if the flag does touch the ground, it should be destroyed.
  • When a flag becomes too faded to be a fitting emblem for our country, it should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. If you are in doubt how to do this, your nearest American Legion or VFW Post will be delighted to assist you.
  • If the flag is to be flown at half-mast, it should first be hoisted to the peak, then lowered half-way down. It should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
  • If you are ever at an event where the “Pledge of Allegiance” or the Star-Spangled Banner is performed, the proper thing to do is to stand at attention with your right hand over your heart. (Servicemen and women in uniform should salute.)  If you are wearing a hat or cap, remove it and hold it in your right hand, with the hat at your left shoulder. If others are not as respectful of the flag during such a ceremony, it is appropriate to remonstrate with them. If you’re at an athletic event when this happens, the ushers should do so.
  • And — I think you knew this — no other flag should ever be flown higher than the flag of the United States. In fact, our nation’s flag should always take precedence wherever it is flown. The only exception to this rule (and it’s not one I’m happy with) is at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York City. There, all country flags are flown equally high, and the U.N. flag is flown a little bit higher. You can guess how I feel about this.
  • Finally, when the flag is used to cover a casket, it should be so placed so that the union is at the head and over the left shoulder. The flag should not be lowered into the ground but carefully removed and folded. Last year I was honored to be invited to the burial with full military honors — including a horse-drawn caisson and 21-gun salute — of a friend at Arlington Cemetery. It was so incredibly moving that I still get goose-bumps remembering it.

By the way, the U.S. Flag Code specifically prohibits wearing the U.S. flag or any clothing based on its design. I know that many people think wearing a jacket, polo shirt, or sweater that consists of the stars and stripes is somehow a demonstration of their patriotism. I appreciate the sentiment but it’s not appropriate. If you own such attire, please dispose of it.

If you are going to wear a lapel pin of the flag or part of it, it should be worn on the left lapel near the heart. I’ve been guilty of violating this one myself. In fact, it wasn’t until I read the Flag Code, in preparation for this article, that I realized my error.

Finally, if you enjoyed this column, please do two things. One, share it with a friend. And two, say a “thank you” to my wife, who suggested it. And she says I never listen to her.

Until next time, keep some powder dry — and the flag flying.

You forgot that congress passed a law that allows Veterans,Military personnel out of uniform and military retirees to render the hand salute vice the civilian salute when rendering honors to the National Ensign. This was done to honor their service to this country, and as a retired military Vietnam Veteran I appreciate that.

  • Vigilant

Chip, I thank you and your wife for the article.

My ancestors came here in 1754 at the beginning of the French & Indian War, joined the colonial militia to fight against tyranny during the Revolution, and have fought in every war of the US since. Nineteen of my ancestors fought for the Union during the Civil War.

I retired after 24 years of Air Force service and then worked for NATO as a civilian for another 14 years.

The US Flag and the 1775 Navy Jack fly proudly in front of my home.

As for Roger Daniell’s comments, I could not have said it better.

The day after the 2008 election, I DID take my flags down, until I talked with some friends and realized that the flag represents the glory and sacrifice of the loyal Americans who fought and died to make this country great. I pledge allegiance to the country for which it stands, not the communist usurper that through some travesty now holds the office of President.

    God Bless America!

You wrote “Obama clearly believes that our rights come from government, not from God”

Maybe Obama should read our Nation Anthem “The Star Spangled Banner”

    The fourth verse:

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
    Between their lov’d homes and the war’s desolation;
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the heav’n-rescued land
Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserv’d us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

  • Jon

Chip, you might write an article about what the different parts of the flag mean. Keep up the good work. Jon W

flying a distressed (inverted) flag and will turn it right side up soon as we can call the usa– THE U.S.A.again and be proud of it ….remember freedom is not free… my blood has spilled for our freedom and i should not have to guard my freedoms from my neighbours (a neighbour tried taking my flag down while it was right side up because they were not American and it was offensive to them)

    • independant thinker

“(a neighbour tried taking my flag down while it was right side up because they were not American and it was offensive to them)”

As mentioned above that is a part of the reason I fly my three flags. If I caught anyone trying to take them down those people would rue the day they thought about it and tried.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        independant thinker,
God help the person, official, whatever, that tries to take down my flag!!! That flag represents my freedoms according to the constitution, and anyone that tries to remove my flag will get a boot in the azz or something a whole lot more harsh!!! If you get my meaning!!

In some places flying the flag upside down as a sign of distress is considered illegal. People have been charged and fined for doing it.

  • Jon

Chip, you forgot to mention how to fly the flag for distress, which is upside down. Thanks for the article on the flag. It’s needed, I am a retired military vet and fly our flag every day. It’s my way of thanking my country. Jon W

A small correction in flying the flag is that the Chaplain’s pennant may be flown above the National Flag only during services.

One correction. No other flag should be flown above the American flag ON THE SAME HOIST. For example, if you have a mast with gaff, the place of honor for the flag is on the gaff. Just as on a sailboat, the place of honor is at the stern or when underway if gaff rigged, at the gaff, or 2/3 up the leach of a non-gaff rigged mainsail. It is NOT appropriate to fly the American flag at the masthead of a sailboat and particularly not at the starboard spreader unless you are a foreign registered vessel visiting America.

Also when flying at half mast, the flag should be at 2/3 to 3/4 the height of the mast (flagpole), not 1/2.

To Dave H. and SC and others who won’t fly the flag or fly it inverted: The American flag (or more correctly the United States Ensign) is not a symbol of our government, current or otherwise. It is a symbol of the principles that this nation was founded upon. Today I view the flying of the American flag (and the Gadsden flag I fly below it) as a statement of my firm principles AGAINST the current administration.

    • http://gunner689 gunner689

Bill: I like you, fly the American Flag with the Gadsen Flag on a seperate and lower poll and for the same reason. I think some nationalities have servitude to an overbearing gvt. in their DNA. That comes from generations of serfdom. We Scots-Irish are a rebellious breed and freedom is in our soul.

  • George Irrgang

Very informative however: On a ship the flag is flown from the mast; on land it’s flown from the staff.

    • Bob Henderson

A little correction. The flag is flown from the mast while underway, but from a staff at the stern when not underway.

  • http://aol don

i fly the flag each day.lately our country has been under attack from many different directions…this includes the white house……in november i hope that we all get out and vote them out of office.and in 2012 we send the socialist barry back to chicago…we can see november from here…

    • Ken

I do also, and even fly one on my vehicle! Used to see a LOT of them, but these days very few. Oh how quickly we forget. Being an Officer in the American Legion, keeps me very aware of what is happening in America today. Sad, but patriotism seems to be dying out, except for a few, and most veterans.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        ken,
I used to fly one on my vehicle till I started noticing how many were laying along the highway from vehicles! I now display a magnetic flag on my cars! I never could bear to see one laying on the ground!!

    • BobS

Nov. 2 cannot get here fast enough. I hope someone takes a video of the wicked witch handing over her gavel.

        Agreed.

  • charles e lewis

Great article. I was fortunate to have just missed the Vietnam war. But I fly my flag proudly 365 days a year out of respect for those who have fought and are still fighting to keep our great republic free.

  • Ken

One correction to your article. The flag code now allows ALL veterans, whether in uniform or not, to salute the flag during a pass by, or during the national anthem. Civilians should still place their hand over their heart… not like our President that clasps them over his private parts!!!

    • Reno

Thank you Ken. I was going to comment on that. Here is the law that was signed by President George W. Bush on October 14, 2008.

New Law Allows Retirees and Vets to Salute Flag
Traditionally, members of the nation’s veterans service organizations have rendered the hand-salute during the national anthem and at events involving the national flag only while wearing their organization’s official head-gear.
The National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 contained an amendment to allow un-uniformed servicemembers, military retirees, and veterans to render a hand salute during the hoisting, lowering, or passing of the U.S. flag.
A later amendment further authorized hand-salutes during the national anthem by veterans and out-of-uniform military personnel. This was included in the Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on Oct. 14, 2008.
Here is the actual text from the law:
SEC. 595. MILITARY SALUTE FOR THE FLAG DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM
BY MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES NOT IN
      UNIFORM AND BY VETERANS.
Section 301(b)(1) of title 36, United States Code, is amended by
striking subparagraphs (A) through (C) and inserting the following new
      subparagraphs:
“(A) individuals in uniform should give the
military salute at the first note of the anthem and
      maintain that position until the last note;
“(B) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who
are present but not in uniform may render the military
salute in the manner provided for individuals in
      uniform; and
“(C) all other persons present should face the flag
and stand at attention with their right hand over the
heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should
remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it
      at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart;

Note: Part (C) applies to those not in the military and non-veterans. The phrase “men not in uniform” refers to civil service uniforms like police, fire fighters, and letter carriers – non-veteran civil servants who might normally render a salute while in uniform

      • Tom in Tennessee

I am really glad that I am able to render the hand salute as a veteran; but it is still greatly misunderstood by people who do not know about this law. It is a privilege to hand salute our flag; and stand when it goes by in a parade.

    • Andee

So good to know! Thanks a lot Ken! As for the bum that is in OUR HOUSE, perhaps clasping his hands over his private parts is what he considers most important in his life.. he no doubt has double up use for same…what an embarrassment he is to all and even to other countries except when bowing to the King of Saudi, the Chinese, the Japanese, North Koreans, etc.

    Laus Deo
    Semper Fi

    • Ken

I have shirts that are adorned with the flag. These are NOT the same as making a garment out of a flag. That would be disrespectful to the flag that you fought for!

      • Tinwarble

        Ken,

As stated on the Betsy Ross Homepage:

“According to the Flag Code, a flag is anything “by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag.”

The words “flag, standard, colors, or ensign”, as used herein, shall include any flag, standard, colors, ensign, or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America.

        Source: Flag Code, Section 3

Therefore, a flag includes any representation of it of any substance, with stars and stripes of any number. This would include T-shirts and ties.

The Flag Code states that the flag should never be worn. (Section 8d): “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel.”

    • http://personalliberty.com Carolyn

Leave the rules as were written.. Everyone starts changing everything and before you know it, the constitution does not resemble what was first written.. Does that ring a bell?
Respect what our founders ruled on, and the rules of the Flag..

    • Andee

Why is it anal? Did you die in this war that set the Europeans free? This is our flag you are talking about…it is not meant to be worn, it is meant to be respected and sitting on it, washing it, ironing it, spilling food and beverage on it does not respect the flag…………get real…Americans are so very spoiled and they think whatever they do is a o.k. It is not a o.k. to disrespect our flag in anyway…a lot of history is behind it and a lot of that history is painful. Do you think Betsy Ross meant for the flag to be treated as we do in today’s America. As she stitched each precious, little stitch do you think she was thinking, “I hope they wear this, I hope they spill food and drink on it, I hope they tear it?” I don’t think so. God Bless America, land that I love…………..

  • K. D. M.

Interesting article. Learned a few things I didn’t know.

  • Ramiro Barrera

I have proudly flown an American Flag in front of my home since September 11th 2001, I have now gone through six flags. I feel I owe this to our troops until the last one comes home or we find and kill Osama Bin Laden, that was my pledge. I almost took it down when Obama took over office but decided my support was for my country and our troops and the President could not take that away from me.
I am very proud of being an American and flying our flag.

    • Codger

Remember in November!!! BHO can’t take America away from us, but we
certainly can take him away from the White House. Semper Fi.

    • independant thinker

      I fly three flags.

I fly the American flag because I am glad I was born in the US and am a citizen.

I fly the Confederate battle flag because by the grace of God I was born in and still live in the south.

I fly the Gadsden flag because I want to be left the Hell alone. I was flying this flag long before it became a symbol for the Tea Party movement

I fly all three because where I live there is a large hispanic (mostly mexican) community and want to be sure they know I am proud to be a citizen of the United States of America.

      • sylviam

Please tell me how to respectivly fly my flags, {1} Old Glory, {2} State, VA, {3}The Union Jack, {4} The Southern Flag? I know that Old Glory is ALWAYS FIRSTits the others that I don’t know.
        GOD BLESS AMERICA

      • Tinwarble

        sylviam,

Depends on how you have your flags. If they are on your house, though, on separate poles, then it should be “Stars & Stripes” on the left of the person viewing it, with the others to the right, I’m not really sure if they have to be in a certain order, but you can refer to here: http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html. They should also all be at the same height if possible.

If they are on a flag pole, then the American Flag should always be on top, but you really shouldn’t have more than 2 flags on a pole.

  • MsAmericanPatriot

I think the code should be changed to allow flag themed clothing. Also I like what one house in my neighborhood has done to denote itself as a Tea Party Patriot. It flies the Stars and Stripes upside down over the Naval Jack flag.

  • Michael J.

The stars and stripes are proudly exibited in front of my house each and every day (unless it’s raining). I will not be dettered by our bogus potus because we the people are the protectors of liberty, not the America haters who currently infest the White House.

Besides, I owe it to my ancestors who fought to make this country a place that the whole world desires to imigrate to.
My great, great grandfather ten generations removed settled here in 1680, raised family here and died here 100 years before this land was called The United States. Since then we have been knee deep in every revolution, civil war, world war and fist fight that was required to make this country the place that illegal aliens can now enjoy the fruit of our blood, sweat and tears.

  • Jim H.

I don’t let the current leadership diminish my love for this country, our flag represents the U.S. people not an administration. I proudly fly my flag.

    • BobS

Thanks Jim, I was getting ready to reply the same thing to DaveH and then I saw your post. When I fly the flag I do not even think about our government. I think about our wonderful founding fathers and the men and women that have given their lives for our freedom. That’s okay though DaveH, you are an American and you have the right not to fly our flag. I hope in the future you will join us and fly the flag for what it stands for not necessarily who is occupying the white house at the time.

My flag flies to represent my devotion to the principles espoused by our founders. As a Nam vet (1st Cav Div, (69-70)), I am aware of the costs of liberty and did defend Liberty as a valuable concept in uniform. I fly my flag as an indication that I will defend liberty in my pjs, if needed.

I have my flags up every day–I put them up at dawn and take them down at dusk. At this time I will not fly my flags in a distress position unless the situation warrants it. Otherwise, I will put it up correctly. I will stand up for my rights.

Two more things. If flown outside the front of your home, it should, if possible be flown to the left of your front entrance. Two it should never be flown all night unless there is a spotlight on it! I fly one 365 days a year and will till the day I die! I fought for that flag and it runs in my blood!!

    • Tinwarble

      Joe H,

Actually the rules for flying a flag on a residence are as follows:

“It is traditionally flown either to the right or the left of the front door. It can be on either side. When there is a choice, find a position of prominence. Sometimes that is the left of the door, sometimes the right, sometimes away from the door, but centered on the house (when you have a porch, for example). Use your best judgment to find a nice position for the flag. However, if you fly a second flag, then the US flag must be on the viewer’s left of the other flag, as you approach the house.”

Visit http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html for flag rules & regulations.

I respect the flag for what it is SUPPOSED to represent. I respect it for what it USED to represent. If I made a habit of flying one, I would feel compelled to hang it upside down.
Until this administration is history, flying the flag to me would be no different than saying I respect the two current White House occupants. I don’t, and I won’t.

    • dan az

      SC
You would be correct in flying it in the distress position and I feel that all americans should do the same as to generate the take over of our once great nation that needs to be cleansed from the filth that has taken it over!Remember in November!

      • JC

No! Absolutely not! While I agree with your view of the current administration, our great flag is not representative of them. It represents the ideals that many of my friends and I fought, killed, and some died for. To fly the American Flag in the distress position is to disgrace our country, and to disgrace us. I too, am looking forward to taking our country back in November, but the flag represents what is great in this nation. Our freedoms, our liberties. Please don’t fly the flag in this manner. Find another way to voice your opinion. Although, I did fight for your freedom of speech to, so you may do so if you choose. I simply ask that you not be disrespectful of us.

I’m a former Navy SEAL. I hold true to what America is supposed to be. I will not let the social degenerates who currently have positions in my Government get me to discrace America by flying the flag upside down. By me flying my flag I’m standing up saying that I still am proud of the American Dream. I’m totally against what is going on in our government and I’ll not let them divide me from my faith.

America is the greatest nation in the world. We still can turn this around if we unite, under God and channel our energy into fixing the numerous problems that plague us.

God Bless America and all her People!

        JC
This is not a disrespect to vets or our country it was used many of times to warn others of what is happening to our country as when we used it on our ships at a time of war to warn others that something is wrong and would come to their aid.I too am a disabled vet but do know the meaning of flying a flag in distress. We have been invaded in more ways than one and are about to loose every thing we have fought for.Im sorry you dont grasp the meaning but look to history to find it.

      • dan az

this is for anyone that does not understand why the flag is flown up side down
An American flag or for that matter any flag flown upside-down is considered a sign of distress…
Mutiny, piracy, sinking, coup, rebellion of the people/government.
The fact that any flag flown upside-down means distress is not the whole story however… flags flown upside-down can and are used as a form of protest.
The flag is a symbol of control and superiority. The use of such in any other way is considered “desecration”. . .

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are correct JC. Dont let these two un-American thugs in the White House make us disgrace our flag, that these two obviously do not represent at all. They do not hold close to their hearts the ideals of America. They seem to undermine us at every turn. Michelle is as street as they get, and she is just spending as much money as she can while she has the chance, and is the un-classiest first lady there has ever been in my life time, and that spans over 50 years. Barack hasnt a clue what to do, and his life is lived in darkness, clouded by his muslim hate of America. I thank God these November elections will render him powerless to stop the damage he is doing, and for 2012 where he will be kicked to the curb, probably by his own party before the election even gets here. They know he is toast, and they will throw him under the bus, when the whole democrat party is guilty of the un-American ways these two have partaken of.

    • Doc

You are wrong to associate our flag with Obama. He has NOTHING to do with it. Never did, never will. I actually think that flying the flag upsets him. He refused to wear a flag lapel pin ( stated he is the citizen of the world…), has his armes dangling when everyone around him salutes the flag. So to all of you angry with the current situation, remember it in November, and please PLEASE do not disrespect the flag. Our president does it for you.

      • BrotherPatriot

He’s not my president and I would be in the same boat as Lt. Col. Terry Lakin if I still served actively.

      • Bluejacket

He might be my President. As of yet, he’s paying a legal team to prevent the proof from becoming public.

      • usmadgirl

        Doc,

I completely agree with your statement! I don’t idolize the flag. I only worship my Creator, but I’ve always been patriotic… NOT to our over-bearing, out of control, abusive, radical GOVERNMENT, but to our FLAG & what it stands for – one NATION (a nation of individual people with individual God given rights – NOT one GOVERNMENT that thinks IT has the power to give people rights), under GOD (which some here don’t believe in, but without HIM this country wouldn’t have made it this long), with Liberty & Justice for ALL (NOT the ones that O’Dumbo & his thugs choose to grant Liberty & Justice)!

So I completely disagree with Dave H & a lot of the other comments & think you’re looking at the flag as a symbol of GOVERNMENT not the INDIVIDUALS for which it stands!

I started flying my big flag on a pole in a bracket on one of the end posts on my front porch shortly after 9/11/01 & just bought a new one before 9/11/10 this year because the sun & wind have faded & worn out 4 since 9/11/01. After that terrorizing day, we were individuals united together, angry at those who had murdered our CITIZENS – NOT our government!

I now fly the flag because I still can where I live. There are so many places that won’t allow the PEOPLES’ FLAG to be flown. It’s politically incorrect in so many places now that it should REALLY irritate Dave H & all the other Libertarians to not have the right to fly the one symbol that represents us as a people -NOT a government!

I mainly fly it NOW to p— off O’Dumbo because he refuses to wear it or recognize it as the symbol of our once great nation before he & all the other progressive, Social Justice imposing, Earth Worshiping, Global Government loving, radical, left-over hippie, dope-smoking, Marxist freaks & all their progressive ancestors started trying to destroy it a century ago & have, in 2 years, almost succeeded in doing so!

My ideal way to really PO the anti-Americans in POWER, is for ALL the Liberty loving, Constitution abiding, flag waving citizens to fly as many flags as they can afford in order for O’Dumbo to be able to see nothing but an ocean of RED, WHITE & BLUE when he’s flying all over the country to spend all our money playing golf, going on date night with the “little woman”, vacationing at our expense, traveling across the country spewing his lies at various functions, campaigning for his radical friends that lose every time he does, going to schools to indoctrinate kids of all ages, apologizing for America’s greatness & having Michelle campaigning about “food deserts” & telling us what we can & can’t eat!

If we actually get to have an election in November & O’Dumbo hasn’t created a “crisis” to stop it, I pray that “we are 31 days away from fundamentally transforming this country” BACK to what our founding fathers intended. God bless this country!

      • BrotherPatriot

        ^^ Whooo Yaaahhh!!! ^^

      • Andee

He is no one’s president that lives in the States; however, there are the sheeple that still worship his highness…they are not part of America either.

I bet in other countries, if you disrespect the flag, there are repercussions and not gentle ones..

It would be faster and better to annul this Presidency; that way he could be prosecuted. If he is impeached we cannot touch him nor his ugly family of freeloaders in OUR HOUSE and disrespecting it every day they are there….feet on the lovely furniture sent from France as a gift decades ago…smoking in OUR HOUSE…etc.

  • JM

    Great article Chip,

Your words recapture the feeling I had when I became an American citizen and first took the Pledge of Allegiance. We live in Canada now but every 4th of July our family proudly flies the Stars and Stripes.

  • DaveH

Sorry, but flying a flag kind of reminds me of those right-wingers who like Big Government as much as do the Liberals. Somehow, for me, flying a flag flies in the face of the Individual Liberty that this country once embraced.

    • http://None Ram

How did you make that connection??

    • Roger Daniell

      Hey Dave,

Flying the flag has absolutly NOTHING to do with politics. It’s all about being proud of the country that you live in. The respect to those that have given you the right to say what you say any time any where. But most of all it means that you enjoy the FREEDOMS and Rights that you have in this country. OUR Flag represents all that is good and right about this country along with so many other things to numerous to mention here. Patriotism has NO color, NO party affiliation, NO politics. It is a representation of the GREATEST country on the face of the earth that you have the privilege to live in.

      • Red Mitch

AMEN! To me it also represents the men and women of our Armed Forces who stand ready to defend our rights to be greatful, or to be ______
(you can fill in the blank).

      • Denniso

Amazingly, I have to agree w/ DaveH. The people who idolize the flag are often more concerned w/ sybols and appearance rather than the reality and complexity of the country, like flying a flag takes care of everything. Flag waving is essentially meaningless and sometimes harmful, since it can lead to a blind nationalism that is destructive and certainly not helpful in solving our serious problems. Virtually everyone who lives here loves the country and flying a flag has no bearing on someones deep feelings for it. It’s a show and usually not much more.

      • Amy Emerson

Hey Denniso….you obviously never served your Country as a soldier.
My father-in-law did and flys the American Flag EACH DAY proudly.
My Father was an immigrant who became a United States Citizen after many years of waiting. He said America was the greatest country in the world after coming from soviet-ruled Hungary as a child. He said when he walked up the street with his father to school (during that time) that he saw the bodies of his countrymen hanging on poles as an example to promote fear from the Commies. Maybe YOU should go live somewhere else and see if you have ANY freedom like you do HERE IN AMERICA !

      • Denniso

You have no clue fella…actually most who have fought in war don’t fly the flag since they don’t feel the need to ‘show’ their love for the country. I’m not impressed your father in law served, what’s that got to do w/ you? Nothing.
My father was in the battle of the bulge and threw a german grenade back out of the foxhole he and his buddies were in…does that mean I’m special because of what he did?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

denniso, your a communist bastard, and thats all there is to it, and frankly, no one in here cares to hear about the baloney you have to say, so just shut your pie hole, until you can come up with something of value. Your doom and gloom is old and worn out, as are your excuses and finger pointing at everyone else except your own party. Your anti American, so I understand your not liking the flag, but not many are like you, and thank God for that.

      • denniso

Beberoni, thanks for the kind words and constructive comment. It’ll take me a while though to try and find the ‘value’ in your words.
        15 secs, no, I couldn’t find any.

      • Bill

        Denniso,

Go to Saudi, Iran, Mexico or any other Country and allow their flag to touch the ground. In those Countries, doing so will get you the death sentence or a long stretch in their nasty jails. How do I know? Benn there seen that first hand. I do wave my American Flag ever chance I get and yes I do have a flag pole in my front yard and am proud to display Old Glory each and everyday.

      • Pete

You obviously don’t get it. What a dull life you must lead.

      • Granny Mae

I fly my flag every day and have for years and so did my father while he was alive. It is a sign of my patriotism, and my belief in this country and all my family member gone before me that fought for the freedom in this country. My people started coming here on the Mayflower and just kept on coming ever since. They came here for a chance at a better life and they never left. They loved this country and willingly gave their lives and limbs for her. They were hard working poor folks that had to pick themselves up and start over many times but they didn’t complain, they just did it ! Old Glory has flown in their yards and draped over their caskets when they passed. For this family she is a sign of freedom and always will be !

      • Christin

        Roger,
        I fully agree.
Wish your post had been first.

We are flag flyers in our neighborhood, too.

And we fly the American flag in the country when we are there even though hardly anyone sees it, but we can… and you’re right, Chip, it does make us feel good.

Thank you Roger, Chip, and …your wife (smile)

      • Tinwarble

First, I would like to say HI all!

Now DaveH, you go a little far with this one. The flag is not a representation of the government, nor is it some type of idol. What the flag is, is a representation of our country.

The flag represents what is best about our county, it represents liberty, justice & the American spirit. It is no more an idol than the Constitution. The Constitution is the law of the land & the document that secures our liberties & the flag represents those secured liberties. After all, the flag & the Constitution are brothers, they were born nearly at the same time from the same mother.

When you denigrate the flag, you do more than denigrate the government, you dishonor those that have sacrificed so much to ensure that we have liberties. From the soldiers who suffered through the bitter cold at Valley Forge who looked at the flag hoping for a free country of their own, to the soldier who has thrown himself on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers & comes back in a flag draped coffin. When you compare those who honor & respect the flag to Nazi’s yelling “Heil Hitler”, you spit on the memory of those policemen & firefighters, who with the flag proudly on their uniforms, rushed into 2 skyscrapers to try and save their fellow Americans, even though they knew they might not make it out.

These are the things that the flag represents, it has no ideology or political agenda, it does not care what color anyone is nor does it care how much money you have. All it does, is fly high to say to everyone that there is a country with people who believe in freedom, liberty & blind justice. That even though we may be flawed, we are in the end a force for good, that when the metal meets the road, we will stand up in the face of evil & that even when our leaders do dumb things or try to push a social agenda, that “We the People” of America believe in “liberty & justice for all”. If that is not a banner that you can get behind, then what, as a libertarian would you approve? If the banner that those, who have bleed & sacrificed everything to provide you with liberty, have stood under does not mean anything to you other than what the government in power represents, then I truly feel sorry for you. Because you will never see the history, honor & yes, even the flaws written upon those stars, stripes & patch of blue.

      • Nancy Williams

I TOTALLY agree! I ALSO get annoyed when people leave the flag up in the RAIN.

      • Tinwarble

Actually, if it’s an all-whether flag, you can leave it out in the rain.

“Most flags sold nowadays are all-weather flags (refer to the packaging). These are permitted to fly during inclement weather, according to the Flag Code.

The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is inclement, except when an all-weather flag is displayed. (Section 6-c.)”

        Visit http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/faq.htm for more info.

      • Jana

We fly our flag proudly! We do not believe in big Government!
We have family that has fought for our freedom, and that is what this flag represents, freedom.

      • Denniso

Jana…we’ve been through this before, but you don’t usually follow up
on your thoughts. How big is ‘big’ when you say you don’t like big gov’t? Do you realize that the biggest aspects of our ‘big’ gov’t are:

        1. Military spending
        2. Medicare
        3. Social Security
        4. Medicare drug plan

Tell me which of these you plan to cut in order to create a ‘smaller’ gov’t???
Do you realize that we have one of the largest countries in the world?
Do you realize that we have the largest military budget in the world? Do you know that we have the largest nuclear(‘nucular’, Bush)arsenal in the world?
Do you know that we have the most poor people in the world except for a handful of countries?

Does it take much thought to understand that we would need a large enough gov’t to manage and deal w/ these aspects of our country?

      • Fed Up

Deniso, you are a twit! Do you not realize that when you say America has ‘the most poor people’ of any country in the world ‘EXCEPT A FEW’ you are lying? A more correct way to state your idea would be to say we have one of the highest rates of poor prople per capita. Then again, that wouldn’t be true either.
I guess you haven’t been to the third world lately. I live in Honduras and work as a humanitarian worker. The poor in the USA are NOT poor in comparison with the people here. I would venture to say that MOST of the world’s countries have a lower per capita income among their ‘poor’ and a higher percentage of their population that can be considered ‘poor’ than does America.
Your statements are exactly the kind of leftist dribble that makes most patriots angry these days. You say half truths in an attempt to ‘prove’ a lie, and THAT only to further your agenda, which is based on lies that are put forth as truths.
The left has HAD their long coveted chance at the wheel and they have driven us into a ditch. I’m certainly hoping we can pull ourselves out of that ditch, but in order to do that we will have to put all this false agenda BS to the side and think about the welfare of our country and citizenry in light of the truth.
Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Extremist, Ultraconservative…it really doesn’t matter any more. We have wolves all around us and they are howling with a lust for our blood. We had better start working together and stop lying to ourselves and each other before it is too late. (It may be already…)
        SA.

      • Claire

Tinwarble–I agree with what you have posted. Good to hear your common sense too.

      • patrick H.T. paine

Plus it’s easy to tell your country’s flag, from the government
one………the government one has 14 stripes, the last is a yellow
fringe, which borders 3 sides of your country’s flag. State government
flags are the same, they hang in all courtroom’s, and inside
government blgds and are prominently displayed at all public events,
speeches etc. Its meaning is one which hasn’t quite reached the
consciousness of most “citizens”, and probably never will.

      • Linda

Sounds like Sarah Palin talking ! I hate to inform you but the majority in this country don’t hate paying taxes, don’t hate those who need help and we don’t hate social programs either. Social programs came about because our leaders back then realised that too many people were going hungry and dying without being able to pay for health care. As the cost of living grew along with the poulation it was no longer acceptable to just let these people suffer when churches, families and neighbors wouldn’t or couldn’t help them.
Well look at where the cost of living is today and tell me if people could survive without these programs and no help ? Some of you want to see Social Security, Medicare,Medicaid and Disability done away with too ,,tell that to the millions of elderly, disabled, poor and children who would suffer or worse yet die without it .

      • Karlly

I wouldn’t mind paying taxes if the taxes were used for what they were intended in the first place. I don’t mind giving a helping hand to those who truly need help and not these welfare mothers who have 5-6 children, all with different fathers and who live off welfare and keep having babies to keep getting it. I don’t want my taxes to go to illegal aliens. Let their own countries support them. And I certainly don’t want my taxes to go to foreign countries. We are giving 2.5 BILLION dollars to China every year, yet China is loaning us money (probably our own!!)! Government is WAY TO BIG! These Congress men and women could let some of the interns, secretaries an no telling who else go and do their own speeches and research. Geeze, what a novel concept. Problem is, Congress think we work for them and we actually are. Our taxes are what supports them. We already work until May every year to pay our taxes. Pretty soon we’ll be working all year and the government will be getting the majority of what we make all year long just for taxes to give away to foreign countries who hate our guts anyhow. I say we stop doing that at least and use our tax money here at home. Our seniors, many of them, don’t make even poverty level and they’ve paid in all their lives. My mom gets $880 social security. That is less than poverty level. Give her the money the illegals are getting. They are actually getting better benefits than our senior citizens. What moron in the government decided they were even allowed to get anything???

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The social programs most of us hate, are those that give our social security monies to illegal immigrants. Those that willingly allow, help, and pay for illegals to sneak into the country and have all us tax payers pay the hospital bill for them to be born here. The social programs that give more money to people, that already have 5 children, cant take care of them, then have another one, so that the social handout agencies will give them more money. The social programs that allow people to live all their lives on the public dole without going out and getting a job. And why do you think we all pay such high taxes? To pay for all these social agencies. Its time people stood up and were held accountable for their actions, and not given a free handout as a reward for irresponsible behavior. And taking care of the poor is not the job of the government, it is the job of the church, and if all of us that call ourselves Christians would tithe 10 percent as we should, there would be “food enough for all in the storehouse”, as it is written. Im sick of watching every democrat that comes into office, expand and grow more and more social agencies. I mean come on man. One of the first moves Obama made, was to extend unemployment, expand welfare, food stamps and a few other hand out organizations. Right out of the gate. The more people they can keep dependant on them, the more power they have. And do not forget, as Thomas Jefferson once said, “A government big enough to give you everything, is also big enough to take everything away”. We dont need to go there.

      • BrotherPatriot

        ^^ Beberoni…that above post of yours is…Spot On!!! ^^

      • Bill

Social Security when orginally started was by law suppose to be put into a seperate account or lock box if you will within the Federal Government and was not supposed to be touched by Congress, The Senate or any other Federal Government Agency. I might be wrong on the date but, I believe it was in the 1960 that a Democratic Congress found a way around the Social Security law and opened the Social Security accounts/box and started shoveling out the funds for other government agencies. They also promised to repay the funds and put the funds back into Social Security. This never happened and the box is still opened for any government agency to use as they please. This is the very reason Social Security is running in the red today. A Democratic Congress that skewed the orginal law and then lied to the American People.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

In response to Bill’s post about Social Security, you are right on sir. And Im sick of hearing today, how the “baby boomers” are draining it out because there are so many of them. Did not these same “baby boomers” pour thousands of dollars into this same Social Security for 40 to 50 years each? So where did all that surplus that they poured in there go? The crooked Washington politicians saw that large amount of money, and didnt have the foresight to see that there was a day coming when the baby boom generation would be drawing out the funds they put in, and they stuck their greedy little fingers into it, illegally at that, and now when people like me retire, as Im only 52, there isnt going to be any in there for me to recoup the thousands Ive poured in there. Meanwhile, some illegal alien hack has been collecting it for who know how long, because of bleeding heart liberal politicians. The is the dirty crooked politics we have since lawyers are running things. They are the scourge of society as far as Im concerned.

      • Louise

Thank you Tinwarble. What you said about our flag and what it stands for is ‘right on’ and beautifully put.

      • Denniso

The point is not whether a person wears a flag pin or flies the flag, but rather you have the right to try and force others to do it and whether it means you are any more patriotic for the display. We are supposed to be a free people,so do what you want, but don’t disparage those who don’t do the same.

      • Tinwarble

And you miss the point all together, because no one is trying to force anyone to do anything. It is about showing respect; respect for something that represents those that have fought & died so that people like you can have the freedom to disrespect the symbol of what they fought & died for.

      • Tinwarble

And thank you Louise for your kind comment.

      • Denniso

You have selective vision, apparently. Look up above and see the people condemning Obama for, what? NOT WEARING A FLAG PIN! The rightwingers all over the country were blasting him for not wearing one…is that not trying to force conformity to do what some think he should do to show patriotism? You’re not being intellectually honest, and I suspect you know that. You can’t force a show of respect on others based on what you or anyone else thinks is proper…I thought you rightwingers loved ‘freedom’???

      • Tinwarble

As I said you miss the point. It is not about Obama NOT wearing the flag pin, but why he refused to NOT wear the flag pin. He did so as a protest, & I will not defend the CHOICE of those either on the right or the left to use the flag in that manner, though I will & have defended their FREEDOM to do so. Just as I don’t condone flying the flag with the union down, and I have told those that have suggest that to me that it is not the proper use of the flag, but that is more out of not knowing why you don’t do that rather then being disrespectful.

You speak of being intellectually honest, but can’t seem to distinguish between the freedom to do something & doing what is right. I condemn the choices of those who wish to show disrespect to the flag, but I do not infringe on their freedom to do so. My condemnation is also an expression of my freedom and there is your honesty. If you hear of someone doing something like the lefties do, when they go and take someone’s flag down; and you hear of someone putting up a flag on someone’s house that doesn’t want it or putting a flag pin on someone without their consent, then you can tell me about how “right-wingers” don’t care about freedom.

Also, to be “intellectually honest”, it is not freedom that we “right-wings” embrace, but LIBERTY. And as Edmund Burke said:
“But what is liberty without wisdom, and without virtue? It is the greatest of all possible evils; for it is folly, vice, and madness, without tuition or restraint.”

      • Fed Up

        My goodness Denniso,
Of all the comments I have read so far, it is YOUR stuff that appears to have the least anchor in reality. Did you even READ Chip’s article? Nowhere in it did he EVER say you MUST fly a flag. Nor did he even mildly suggest we should FORCE anyone else to fly a flag. He RECOMMENDED the flying of a flag for those who wish to do it. His stated reason is that it to “see what happens”. He then went on to talk about flag etiquet and shared some useful information about flying a flag.
Don’t fly a flag if that’s your personal preference, Denniso…but don’t try to belittle those who DO fly one, or their reasons for doing so. They have their reasons and I don’t think there’s any way you could even know what those reasons are, let alone criticize them.
You are the one trying to FORCE your opinion here. This article was well received by most of the readers who commented. That means that this comment forum is, obviously, in favor of flying a flag. You’ve been outvoted, overruled and sidelined. Your comments are not appreciated, nor will they be heeded. You have the right to express your opinion, but might I suggest you do so in a more liberal forum? What you’ve done can be compared to walking in to a dog kennel wearing a cat costume. How can you expect to be welcomed?

      • Meggars53

Tinwarble – From someone who spent the majority of his adult life serving this great country sailing the seven seas, I must thank you for such a perfect description of what this country is all about. I traveled the globe for many a year, and every time I would come home and the ship would moore pier side, I thanked the good Lord above for coming home to the greatest nation the world has ever known. As you stated, we have flaws, but flaws that can be corrected. We have some many freedoms and have opportunities that no other country can match. If other countries did, no one would be trying to get here.

I fly my flag out of respect for what this country stands for and for those that have given their lives for our freedom. Sadly there are only two on my street that fly their flag with me. The rest never fly the flag-ever. That saddens me greatly.

      • WARTOOH

I agree with a lot of the comments, including Dave’s and Denniso. I think it’s time to take back our flag AND our country.

As to the people that constantly talk about how FREE America is, you’re crazy and not paying attention. The United States has more people in prison than any other country in the world, including Communist organ-snatching China. Our president has said it’s okay for our govt. to execute citizens without a trial, without any reason, except that the govt. thinks they’re a threat! Just execute them on the street! Exactly WHAT, WHAT, WHAT is so free about this country? This is an electronic Nanny state with a lot of ninnies living in it who think just talking about freedom and flying the flag will make everything okay.

      • Pete

Well go out and try to find a country more free than this one. And if you don’t appreciate it, get the hell out! But stand by, with the current administration it’s bound to get worse. Get a life.

      • ruth

        so true, so true.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I would have to say in response to denniso’s comment about wearing the flag and such, that if you refuse to acknowledge the flag denniso, and are against wearing it, showing it, flying it, etc., then seriously, you need to get out of this country. Because this is America, and the flag represents America and the freedom’s we have. One of them is allowing dirty rotten jerk anti American idiots like you to roam around free here. And you spit on it, and the rest of us dont take to kind to that. And there will be a day of reckoning, when what people like you do, is recognized as wrong again, and you will be dealt with, and righteously so. I hope your prepared when that comes, because it cant get here soon enough.

      • denniso

Calm down Beberoni, you’re going to blow a gasket.Your radical and extreme nature is showing and it’s not flattering. What I’ve said is that neither Obama nor you should be condemned for not wearing a silly flag pin or not flying the flag. Anyone can fly a flag…nazis, morons, and it doesn’t mean a thing. It’s nothing more than a symbol and can’t on it’s own mean true love of one’s country.

I no more spit on our flag than I would guess you do. The important thing is to live a life that is helpful and supportive to the people of the country…flying a flag does nothing, people do things that are positive or not.

And you can’t wait until we might get rid of free speech that is protected by the constitution(that you pretend to love),so that those who could care less about the flag as a symbol can be chased down?
Sounds like you are hoping for a resurection of Nazi Germany.

      • WARTOOH

We should all be flying the flag, but FLYING IT UPSIDE-DOWN as a sign that the country is in distress and needs help. If you see somebody flying the flag of our country upside-down you shouldn’t insult or assault them, but salute them b/c they know what’s going on.

    • CherylB

I feel very sad for the thousands of men and women who have given their lives in the name of freedaom so you can utter such garbage. If that’s the way you truly feel about our flag, please find another country to live in.

      • DaveH

        Cheryl,
It is people like you who blindly follow Big Government wherever it leads them that have ruined this country. And now because a person believes in the individual liberty that benchmarked this once great country, you say he should leave?
No, Cheryl, it is you Big Government Sycophants that should leave, so the rest of us can get our Liberty back.

      • Brenda

        DaveH
You seem to be very confused about who likes Big Government. It is not the conservatioves who want it but the liberals. This should be obvious since the liberals are in control and the government keeps growing. Yes, conservatives do tend to be more patriotic because the democrat party wants us to be more like Europe which I believe we fought a war to get away from. They are the ones trying to take away your rights, liberty and freedoms for which so many people died.

      • BrotherPatriot

        Good job, Brenda. Well said.

It’s about being proud of America. It has nothing to do with politics. It’s the belief in American exceptionalism. This belief transcends the secret meaning of the #13 that is implied by the people who control America…the 13 colonies, the 13 arrows in the eagles/pheonix claws, the 13 steps of the pyramid…etc. The American experiment is a success due to the patriotic support of her people and backed by the moral fiber of what is right in the eyes of God & supported by her people.

To help summarize…I’m learning abit about computers. One of the things is knowing what a baseline is. One definition of a baseline is: a basic standard or level; guideline: to establish a baseline for future studies.

That said, I believe I would be correct in saying that America doesn’t have a TRUE baseline because everything has been warped since the beginning by the group of social degenerates who have been running our country. They have this power due to their attempts to control our money…which we now know was eventually successful by establishing the 3rd central bank, the Federal (not) Reserve (not America’s reserve). This control of the money leads to the control of everything else. Everything is warped. It’s truely unfortunate to come to this conclusion but it’s one I feel is correct. Of course there are somethings in which a baseline is there…but to the greatest majority and concerning some very important topics…there is no ability to create a baseline due to the corruption that is in most of the highest positions of authority in our land. This trickle down effect corrupts and warps the baseline.

        Comments…?

P.S. I still love our flag even though I know much of how & why it is the way it is. As I said, the symbology of it has transcended the secret meaning and has become something that people of good heart can look upon with pride.

      • Vicki

There IS a baseline. The Constitution itself.

Citizen – ‘Sir, what have you given us?’
        B. Franklin -’A Republic Ma’am, if you can keep it’
        http://www.city-data.com/forum/politics-other-controversies/537773-republic-maam-if-you-can-keep.html

      • Linda

Wrong party Brenda ! Maybe if the party of no decided to do some work in Washington then more could get done. Conservatives believe in welfare alright ,,welfare for the very rich .Well my friend if you think Big Corp can handle running our country better than We The People then by all means your voting on the right side. Dems aren’t perfect but they sure don’t hate the middle class and the working poor the way Republican’s do with their tax cuts for the very rich and wanting to stop people who lost their jobs from getting unemployment. Republican’s are the party for the heartless and mindless .

      • Tinwarble

Oh, Linda you are so confused. Yeah, the Dems don’t believe in corporate welfare do they, just bank bailouts, car company bailouts, pushing an agenda so that their buddies like GE can make a lot of money from “Green” products.

And if you think that the rich actually pay more taxes when there is a tax increase, then you are as daffy as a duck. Those taxes are passed along to the in the price of the products you & I buy which the are made by the companies the the rich own & they will not hire more people or they will lay off people. So who do you think is really hurt by tax increases on the rich.

I’m glad the Repubs are the party of NO. No tax hikes, no to Obama-Care, no to socialism, NO, NO, NO. This country could use a lot more NO’s, letting people live off the dime of others never made anyone get off their rear ends to make something better of themselves.

        As Ben Franklin said:
“The best way to help the poor is to make them uncomfortable in their poverty”

      • Denniso

I’m not surprised that DaveH is confused, as are most of you, but it is nice to see you rightwingers fighting…keep it up!

DaveH thinks that it’s big gov’t trying to force people to fly flags and wear stupid, little flag pins, when it’s the rightwingers who are trying to make it a mandatory display of blind patriotism. It is meaningless because flying a flag doesn’t actually ‘say’ anything at all. There are plenty of total idiots and wackos who advocate violence who fly the flag, what does that ‘say’? It takes NO thought at all to stick a flag pin on or wave a flag. NONE…

Like I said below…the nazis and there supporters were the finest flag wavers ever, and they forced it on people. Is that your model for America?

      • Denniso

        “their”

      • http://gunner689 gunner689

        Dave:
to me the flag is the symbol of what we are fighting to preserve, in spite of Big Gvt. The flag was ours long before these megla maniacs took control. The flag represents freedom and a free people, not the tyranny and serfdom proposed by Big Gvt. progressives. Remember when BO refused to wear a flag lapel pin? He claimed he was a citizen of the world.

      • StevieP

Remember when the dipwad was photographed with his hands folded in front of him during the National Anthem while Hillary and the other people on the stage all had their hands over their hearts as is accepted protocol? God, I so wish Hillary would have won the Presidency over this azz clown we have now. And I am not a Hillary fan by any way, shape or means.

      • BrotherPatriot

        This is for StevieP…

Hillary wasn’t allowed to win…she left onna secret meeting on a plane with Obamma and some Bilderberg type people. Soon after she withdrew her nomination for the Democratic slot. However, that said…if she had won over Obummer…I believe McCain would have beaten her in the polls…if the votes werent tampered with/rigged for her.

That said…McCain is also a traitor to the UN/CFR/TC/Bilderberg people so howmuch better would things be? I dunno…we can only speculate.

I think we can all THANK Obummer for helping to awaken so many of us to the truth of what is going on in the world. God has a plan and things do work out for a reason…even if it seems everything is chaotic. I truely revile what is happening but due to the political moves & body actions of Obummer…he did help us all begin to open our eyes to what has been allowed to go on for far to long. Vote this November because the future of America depends on it!

        God Bless!

      • spike

Then let him go govern the UN and leave us the he** alone!

      • ruth

i saw when the so called prez would not even look at our flag or pledge to the american flag, i knew right there and then that this muslim was not for us. he is sure proving it now, if only the fools of this country could hear and see that.

      • Jana

        ruth,
You are so right. I saw that too. It was very disgusting!

      • Denniso

I guess that to BrotherPatriot, everyone is a ‘traitor’. I again get amazed at the absurd and childish comments here. You are in dire need of some help w/ your education and thinking, as it’s clear that you have neither one.

      • ChuckL

Your attitude if followed by everyone in this country would result in our being taken over by Somalia, or any other Theocracy in the world. Please leave and take the Obamas and all of their friends with you. We would have no defense, and no reason to have a defense. Of course Usama bin Laden would really like that situation. You however, might find it somewhat disconcerting.

Ideology without reality is NOT defensible.

What is really unacceptable, though, is that you disparage those who fought in defense of the flag of this country and the country itself. You have the right to hold and expound your incorrect ideas because of those heroes. They are American Patriots, whereas you expound simply taking without contribution.

      • rwnut

DaveH must have just made a trip to his main connection. He’s smoking that good sh-t today! Have another toke Dave and burn another flag!

      • rwnut

Chip Wood and wife…thanks and keep it flying patriots!

      • Tony

Dave, Your such a lonly guy, thats what happens when your stuck in the “Left Wing” Bet you spit on the Flag and us Military too. You are a nobody abd you know it.

      • JeffH

Tony, you couldn’t be more wrong!

      • Denniso

Poor DaveH, under attack from his rightwing allies. They don’t like it when you don’t follow along nicely…

      • usmadgirl

        Hey DaveH,

Haven’t been here in awhile until today (thankfully, because I’ve had lots of work, sadly, it’s mostly foreclosures & that might end soon with BOA & a lot of other lenders stopping foreclosures on those that “Bawney Fwank” insisted should have homes that couldn’t afford them) & if you’ll notice, your comment even brought “Tinwarble” out of hiding!

I have to ask, “Who peed in your cornflakes today”? I’ve rarely read comments like this from you! Aren’t you the one who told me I shouldn’t talk down to people or name call unless personally attacked?

The flying of our flag has nothing whatsoever to do with BIG GOVERNMENT! Are you serious or were you just opening a can of worms?

The flag represents the Liberty we were SUPPOSED to have endowed by our Creator & the release from tyranny, NOT Big Government! It’s a symbol of the beginning of the greatest country in the world & of all the lives that have been sacrificed since for our Liberty! Just because the progressive Big Government has been, until now, slowly taking away our Liberty & now, this administration has revved it up to hyper-drive, is not the fault or the representation of our flag.

The flag represents the idea of the founders & the people of the nation NOT the government. The country & the government are two separate entities – or at least they were until these dictating thugs took office & started running everything! But, again, that’s not a representation of the FLAG! I don’t think about the GOVERNMENT when I still get teary eyed seeing the flag waving & hearing the “Star Spangled Banner”!

The flag is more beautiful to me now than ever, because for the first time in my life, I’m beginning to relate to the tyrannical government the original settlers were trying to escape! But DaveH, we have nowhere to escape TO!

      • Jana

        Good Job usmadgirl,
This doesn’t sound like the DaveH we all know and respect.

      • azsequaya

I believe it`s the tyrannical POLITITIONS that are ruining OUR COUNTRY, WE THE PEOPLE are the TRUE GOVERNMENT!!!!!!

      • usmadgirl

        Hi Jana,

Thank you! And no, it doesn’t sound like DaveH. He’s usually a lot more rational! He KNOWS that none of us (the common sense Conservatives) want Big Government!!! Our flag doesn’t represent Big Government! It represents the people!

And yes, I know that SOME of the people voted for politicians who ARE Big Government, but I didn’t (except for McCain & that was because he was the lesser of 2 weasels & because Sarah was NOT for Big Government so I had no other choice)!

      • usmadgirl

        azsequaya,

You are absolutely right! We The People are SUPPOSED to be the TRUE GOVERNMENT & have been for some of the time since our Constitution was adopted, but the PROGRESSIVES have hijacked the rights of the people to govern several times over the past century. This radical, criminal thugocracy is on the ‘fast track’ of eliminating ALL our rights & is ‘breaking the sound barrier’ in completely destroying every aspect of this country as we’ve known it, in order to finalize their agenda of “Social Justice & Global Government”! They don’t care about the “globe” or “justice” for anybody! It’s all about the money & power…period!

We the people have every right to charge the entire bunch with treason! I just wonder what we’re waiting for! Are we waiting for them to finish us off, because if we do, it’ll be too late?!

      • BrotherPatriot

Spot on…girl! I agree…seemed someone did piss in DaveH cereal. Your replies are all very well made & correct. The US Flag is indeed…very beautiful and comforting to me. It doesn’t stand for the government or the people that currently hold it and are doing so many illegal things behind our backs & in front of our very eyes…it stands for the American Dream and for the belief in what is right and proper that Patriots yearn to have. It stands for all those that gave their lives for us to have all that we have had down through the years…and it stands for what is supposed to be right. For what we have in our hearts and what indeed…many of us may just have to die for again. God…I pray not. I honestly pray we don’t have to go there…but when you look at this world and all that is going on…the writing on the wall screams that we are heading towards what Nazi Germany became…and that, that I will not stand for without giving my all to stop.

And in that…I KNOW I dont’ stand alone!

      • Denniso

You’re going to stop a march toward nazism all by yourself? And you’re wrong, the flag does represent the gov’t because the gov’t is the people. And, 1/2 or so of the people are liberals and moderates…the flag represents us too.

      • Tinwarble

Demsho, once again you show how obtuse you are. The government isn’t the people, it is only supposed to represent the people’s interest, which it doesn’t. And flag has no politics, you have a lot to learn.

      • Denniso

I wonder who you think is in the gov’t and who runs it on a daily basis? Illegal aliens? Martians? The gov’t is made up of American citizens and run by American citizens. Certainly sometimes citizen groups do political battle w/ ‘the gov’t’ such as civil rights groups, ACLU,peace activists, but that doesn’t mean that the gov’t is not the people. It is…

      • Tinwarble

This is were you show how obtuse you are. Being run by citizens, does not mean that it is the people. There are companies that are run by citizens, does that mean that it is the “People” too. As I said, the government is supposed represent the people in matters of the state, that does NOT mean that it is representative of the “People”. If you think that someone who looks at the government should be able to tell what kind of person you are, then you are in a lot of trouble. Although, you and the government do seem to have the same reasoning.

      • usmadgirl

        BrotherPatriot,

Thank you for your kind words & your comment is “spot on”! Unless God allows us to take this country away from the control of these EVIL “drug-fried” radical “left-over hippie” Progressives, I’m afraid we’re on the path of permanent destruction & I just don’t see most conservatives letting that happen without resistance!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Dave, your wrong on this. Because I proudly wave the American flag, means absolutely nothing about big government. I hate big government. I fully recognize it as the source of our problems in this country. I am an American, and I proudly wave this flag in honor of those who fell before me, first gaining our independance from Britain, and for all those who fell in the World Wars protecting freedom, and those who fight to maintain our freedom, of which I was one of them in my youth. Flying this flag means nothing at all, and I mean nothing at all, about big government, nor following and supporting big government. It means nothing about left or right or middle. It means I am an American, and I love the freedom’s I have living here, that others gave all for. To insist otherwise is an insult to all who gave all that we might be here free today, so I say shame on you Dave for having lived here all your life, and not embracing it as so. No, it has nothing to do with big government. I say shame on them also, as they are a big threat to the flag themselves. They are the ones that are going to make it cease to fly one day, so no, the two are as different as can be, and you surely should know that.

      • denniso

Seriously, what is big gov’t? What parts of gov’t would you get rid of that would substantially reduce the overall size and budget of our gov’t? What freedoms have you lost due to this ‘big gov’t'?

And, how small a gov’t couls we realistically have and still deal w/ a large country,a nuclear arsenal,CIA,FBI,terror threats, modern industry and finance?

Has it occurred to you that we have the size of gov’t that most people have voted for over the past century and more?

      • Tinwarble

What is big government. Really! Have you been living under a rock? How about a government that picks winners & losers by bailing out certain company’s, how about a government that forces banks that don’t want bail out money, to take it anyway. How about a government that bails out auto companies instead of letting them fail if that make bad business decisions or a government that passes a bill that punishes you for not buying a product. And how about a government that thinks it knows better than the people that it is supposed to serve. That is big government.

And what would we get rid of. Well, how about we start with getting rid of TARP, auto bailouts & the Health Care bill. Then we can get rid of social programs like welfare (you can include corporate welfare in that), privatizing social security by allow people to invest in their own retirement programs & pretty much everything that the Constitution doesn’t give the government the right & power to do.

And what freedoms have we lost. Well how about the freedom not to have insurance and not be punished for it. How about not having the freedom to use the products that we want to use because they are being made illegal (ie: incandescent light bulbs becoming illegal in 2012). How about making it illegal to have salt on the table in restaurants or not having the freedom to buy things with as much sugar in it as we like. These are just a few of the freedoms the government is taking away, there are many more.

And yes, you are right about one thing. We do have the big government that we voted for, although, I would argue that much of it is done by those that said one thing to get elected and then forced their ideals down our throats once they are in office. But then, that is the point of what is happening now, it is an attempt to amend what has been done & bring about a smaller government.

      • Denniso

I’m a liberal and me and others have railed against the insurance mandates since they were discussed. It was a deal made w/ the insurance co’s to get them to agree to cover everybody…bad deal, since the co’s fought the plan anyway. It will not stand as it will be determined to be unconstitutional and there will be a change that improves the law.

How can anyone in this economy still talk privatising SS? Imagine the carnage if most people had all of their retirement $ in the market of the last 2 yrs. And we’re not out of the recession yet.
The very reason for gov’t run SS is to be immune to extreme market swings and not go back to people dying on the street or living on dog food. Check out the record before FDR instituted SS.

      • Tinwarble

Oh yes, we can’t privatize SS can we. Let’s just keep on with a already bankrupt system, a system that is has no money in it because the government has spent it all on their own agenda’s and is being funded by borrowed money from China. So instead of some people not having money in their later years, we all are going to be broke because of the mounting debt.
The only reason the market is in the shape it’s in is because of the actions of the government any way. Letting the Fed continuously print money back by nothing but air, the actions of Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae (and their actions still). By bailing out the banks, car companies & pretty much anyone they determine to be to big to fail. If not for these things the market would have bounced back along time ago & people’s retirements would be secure. Also, if the money that was given to the government, to spend on everything but SS, was in the market, it would have helped the market recover since investment is what drives the market up.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ok Denniso, since you cant figure it out, here is what you can get rid of in big government, and this is just a start. There are thousands of others that need to go also. 1. The Department of Energy. This was started by the great Jimmy Carter, as an agency to wean us off our dependance of foreign oil. Now all these years later, we are using more foreign oil that ever, and paying for some 260,000 Department of Energy workers, plus another 100,000 contracted out through the department of energy. Since they didnt do what they were started for, and we survived before their inception, lets get rid of this clear waste. 2. The IRS. It costs us billions of dollars to fund the IRS. Eliminate income tax, go with a straight sales tax, and eliminate the IRS. 3. Do we need separate corporate offices running the CIA and the FBI? Consolidated them under one envelope, where they are basically one agency, and get rid of the thousands of government red tape jobs that keep things from getting done. 4. Eliminate the 260,000 dollar a year pensions that anyone gets for serving two terms in congress. This is rediculos. Why are they paid more after they retire, for their entire life, than they were when working? Stupid, stupid, stupid. That would save billions. 5. Stop the madness with making welfare and food stamps a way of life. Light a fire under these peoples butts and get them back to work and stop living off of handouts. Stop rewarding people for having more and more children that they cant take care of and afford. The billions we pay for running these social programs, along with the millions we pay people to run these organizations is crazy. There are thousands more denniso, but here is a good start. And just these few Ive mentioned, we are paying thousands and thousands of people some hefty salaries for this work that needs eliminated.

        AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

    • John Demello

Hey Dave, One can only sit and stare at that load of garbage you wrote. It is possibly the most ignorant comment I have read this year. If you’re not proud of being an American and flying the greatest Flag in the World, no matter your political ideaology, GET OUT!

      • DaveH

        John,
The Garbage is the personal attack coming from a Big Government loving Liberal. You are the kind of person that has ruined this country. Don’t fancy yourself a patriot. You are no more patriotic than the masses in Germany who shouted “Heil Hitler”.

      • S.C.Murf

Dave, you don’t want to fly the flag that’s fine but how in God’s name does one who likes to fly it mean that they are big gov. or liberal or anything else except patriotic. You have so much hate, maybe you need to get down on your knee’s and ask for a little help.

      • Richard

S.C.Muff: The American Flag holds a special place for Americans above and beyond that of the flags of anyone else on earth. The flags of most countries in Europe do not hold the same reverence or meaning to their citizens that our flag means to us. Dave is a decent guy but he has not yet been convinced of even the existence of God so how could he fully understand what the flag means to those who have fought for what it represents and often died for what it represents. Give him time. None of us got to where we are in a year or a decade.

      • usmadgirl

        S.C.Murf,

I haven’t been on this site for over a month, but you are obviously new to the site; so welcome to all the insanity!

Just to let you & some of the other NEW people on the site know, DaveH is NOT a liberal/progressive! He’s a die hard Ron Paul supporting Libertarian (too close to anarchy for me) & an atheist (way to scary for me), but he’s not a bad guy, very smart & despite his being an atheist, usually takes up for Christians on this site when progressive loons bash them. He just has this one WAY wrong! We just continue to pray for him because he’s our friend! See my comment from earlier today, because I have to work 20/7 for a living & don’t have time to be on here any longer today!

      • JeffH

        usmadgirl, my sentiments also.

      • usmadgirl

        Hi JeffH,

Have you missed all my long, detailed comments? I’ve missed you guys & gals!

      • JeffH

usamadgirl, always glad to have you back.

      • Vicki

There you have it. We do not know for sure which DaveH wrote the lead comment.

      • usmadgirl

        DaveH & Vicki,

        Whaaaat???????

      • Larry

Dave, when you leave please take our Big Government with you. We need about 50 good men, and start over again. Where can we find them ///

      • spike

        YAY, LARRY!!!!

      • Tony

I’m sure you meant to say, “Heil Dave”

      • http://?? Joe H.

        DaveH,
I’m not gonna bash you as I think I understand what you are trying to say. Guys, you need to remember that EVERYONE here has a right to their opinesand I will and have defended that right! I will defend that right even if I don’t agree with the opinion the person is trying to bring forth. That, I think, is what our founders were trying to express when they helped give birth to this, the greatest of countries! Remember guys, the next opinion YOU express may well be the one the majority disagree with! It may not be a popular thought I’m expressing but I believe it is the correct one!!!

      • usmadgirl

        Hi JoeH,

I just told JeffH & the same goes out to you, I’ve missed you guys! Did you notice that DaveH’s comment brought “Tinwarble” out of “hiding”? There goes my working partner again!

I should be working, but I’m just burned out! I’ve got to let my brain rest for a little while & argue with progressives (or Libertarians in this case). We’ve been really busy & completely stressed out. Our customers want their title searches back in 24-48 hours, but they’re all long difficult CRAP & I’m about to lose it!

usmadgirl–Your common sense has been missed. Hope you are back for a good long while.

        Mad Girl,
Delited to see you back and yes you have been missed!!! don’t let the blahs get you too far down, we need you here!! Take care gal!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Thats it. I dont think this is DaveH writing this trash. No way. Ive read his educated comments too many times, and I find it hard to believe that this is really DaveH. Im thinking we have an imposter here people, someone using his name to insult him.

    • spike

      Dave, \\

That’s about the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard. The flag is the only part of this whole discussion that simply says: I represent AMERICA, AMERICANS, AND I have NO party affiliation whatsoever. My sole agenda is to symobolze the freedom of people who died to preserve it. I do not belong to Obama, Bush, or any President. I show that to every man, woman, child who cares to respect my presence that there is Hope. Hope for Liberty, Hope for freedom, and Hope for the Republic for which I stand. Amen.

      • DaveH

No, Spike, the Flag is just a false idol. So many people think flying a flag is patriotic. Rather it is just a symbol for the Big Government masses to rally around as they blindly allow more an more growth of the Big Government machinery. The Government Leaders love you. Baa-a, Baa-a.

      • http://PLD TomD

Betsey Ross had a flag company

      • spike

        Bulls**t, Dave.
The Flag is only an IDOL if someone worships it. Even Isreal flys a flag. You are a little warped, Dave, Sorry. It is a symbol, SYMBOL, not and IDOL. We ask that one stand and respect it, is all. Not bow down and worship it. THE DEVIL IS A LIAR, HE’S THE ACCUSER OF THE BRETHEREN, and I think he’s in your thinking. You need to straighten your thinking out …have you thought of asking God’s help? He’s not an Idol, either.

      • Tinwarble

        DaveH,

I’m not sure what your problem is with the flag, but what’s next, if someone says they respect the bald eagle because it’s a symbol of America, they are bird worshipers?

And don’t you think that it’s a little hypocritical for an atheist to accuse others of idolatry?

      • DaveH

And by the way, Spike, those people aren’t dying for Freedom. They are dying for the Military State. They are just pawns in the Big Government World Chess Game. The soldiers have been giving their lives in vain around the globe for nearly 100 years. Are we freer now? Hardly. While you sheep have been cheering for your “team”, the Government has grown out of control.
I very much appreciate the sentiment of our soldiers, but they are just being used.

      • spike

Since there is no draft, at present, DAVE, I think if they’re ‘BEING USED’ it’s with their concsious consent. I don’t know who or what you worship. However, even the God I worship called men to war when necessary, and Proverbs says “a time for peace and a time for war”. As for a Military State, I doubt it…not til the Anti Christ reveals himself, most probably. You don’t have to believe as I do, but don’t smear my flag and my country. I mean this with respect: you’re just ignorant. Ignorant means you just don’t know better. I choose to believe you aren’t an ass**le, just a little un informed.

      • Kinetic1

There may not be a draft, but the economic situation drives a lot of young people towards the military and the recruiters are ore than happy take advantage of the situation. Many is the soldier that felt compelled to join and fight after 9/11, only to be deployed over and over again. More and more of these men and women are stepping forward to confess that they were duped. There may not be a draft and I sure wouldn’t want to see our kids dragged off to war, but at least the draft was honest.

      • Tinwarble

        Kinetic,

Actually, although some do join because of economic reasons, most join, as I did, because they want to sever their country & they want to be a part of something greater than themselves.

You can’t buy the honor & patriotism displayed by our troops, nor can you purchase bravery or valor. These are things which someone has to have in themselves, & can’t be bought & is usually the driving force for them to join.

      • Tinwarble

I was just informed by my better half & the “word police” that I misspelled something. That should have been “SERVE” not “SEVER”, sorry for that.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

So now you say our soldiers gave their lives in vain to stop Hitler and his march of hate? That is the biggest hate filled lie I have ever read in my life. You should be ashamed of yourself. Shame, shame, everybody knows your name. I still think this is an imposter using the name of DaveH.

      • usmadgirl

        Hey Beberoni,

I think that’s right. Tinwarble logged in as “DaveH” & as “Liberty Train” to prove that an “imposter” could pretend to be whomever they choose. We need to have our user name assigned to one person only so others can’t use it!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I love my country and freedom for which it stands. I love my flag, as it represents the bravery of those who fell defending this country, and for the freedom we experience because of this. I hate and abhor big government. The two are two separate entities. This flag I fly has nothing to do with big government. Big government are the very ones that shame this flag and shame this country and shame its people. WE THE PEOPLE are this country, and this flag represents us and our liberty and freedom. It does not represent big government. You sir are mistaken. And there is a Lord Jesus Christ. I know. He has revealed Himself to me and He lives inside of me as He does in many of us. If you knew that, you would surely see that this flag you are professing your hatred of, does not stand for big government. It stands for the very freedom that allows you to say those evil things you are now saying. And it supports your right to do so.

      • BobS

Okay, Dave is obviously an idiot. Just ignore him and the liberal marxist sheep will go away.

DaveH is not a liberal nor a marxist, and usually comes down on the right side of things (no pun intended), he is actually a libertarian. Just this time he appears to be misinformed or in the least seeing a meaning in something that isn’t there.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

    • TIME

      Dave,
I see your post has stirred up quite the hornets nest.

      Well People Dave is 100% right, {flying a flag is not going to fix anything at all.}
As a matter of fact being “PROUD” is a Deadly SIN.

Wake up people and stop being so hard headed, for heven sake LEARN about who you place in office ~ I mean really learn everything you can about them thats far more important than flying a flag.
      WAKE UP.

You who fly flags good for you I am happy for you, just due to one not flying a flag that fails to make them any less American that you are the idea that they are insulting you, or the flag is utterly stupid and mindless, let alone child like.

“Freedom” {carries with it the ability to be offended} if you can’t grasp that, then you are no better than a Marxist or Nazi.
      Can you grasp that?

      WAKE UP PEOPLE.

      • Bob

The American flag stands for liberty and justice for all. All of the innocent people being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan aren’t getting any liberty or justice. That is not what our flag stands for.

      • TIME

        Bob,
The flag is a flag, its based on things YOU nor I have anylonger of what Dave has tried to point out, we have sold our Freedoms to allow Corrupt leaders to gain wealth and status while we burden the YOKE.

As for what has been and what will come, I can only PRAY for the best outcome, and hope for a break even point.

Knowing that 45% of the US population is on some government hand out programs, plus at least 22.5% are unemployed – thats much higher than the reported 9.75%, and that brings us to a total of no less than 60% of our nation is on a Government system of some type.

Then if we add in of the remaing jobs 70% are Government jobs, by the way that pay better than 95% of all Non Government jobs as well have better benifit packages, – thus leaving so few that are paying for everyone else.

That alone displays we are in dire trouble so much so that if one flys a Flag or not is so far down the list of problems that its not even worth the effort to waste energy nor time on it.

Our Flag is our flag not the flag of Freedom for Africa, nor the Middle East, Nor Asia, nor anywhere else but here.

What Dave has tried to point out; and I could be wrong but I see it as we have lost what {{Freedoms}} we had do to our letting them be taken from us as we rally around a flag with pride for something utterly stupid we have done by way of being pushed into some mindless game that has been of a 100% ZERO benift to this nation.

Anyone who can explain how these absurd behavior patterns have been a benifit to us as a whole; “please feel free to do so,” otherwise drop it and move on.

Lets fix the problems we have, then and only then will we as a nation have anything to really be PROUD of again.

This job is not going to be easy and if something of this nature creates the out crys I have seen posted, then
“WE as a Nation have lost.” And its all over.
        How SAD is that?

A piece of cloth or your FREEDOM. What are you all thinking?

Oh; for you that think you have some special rights due to your loss, My GreatGrand father was killed in WWI, He won the Purple Heart, and Bronze Star, my grandfather was awarded the Purple Heart x 3, The Bronze Star The Silver Star, and the Distingusished Service Cross, during WWII.
My Grandmother has a Star on the wall if you understand that.
My brothee who served in Nam, won the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star.
So we have given and I am not offended by Dave statments.
My younger brother who is still serving he is a Full Bird in SF, with more awards than most of you can name, has been overseas now for nearly 8 years and at age 54 he has spent his life defending this country, Oh he was also in the first Gulf War.

      • Steve N.

“Men since the beginning of time have sought peace…Military Alliances, Balances of Power, Leagues of Nations, all in turn failed leaving the only path to be by way of the crucible of war. The utter destructiveness of war now blocks out this alternative. We have had our last chance. If we will not devise some greater and more equitable system Armageddon will be at our door. The problem basically is theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence and improvement of human character that will synchronize with our almost matchless advance in science, art, literature and all material and cultural developments of the past two thousand years. It must be of the spirit if we are to save the flesh…” ~ General Douglas MacArthur

      • Tinwarble

        Time,

The problem is that you and DaveH seem to think that the Flag is about something that you have or don’t have. It is not. The Flag represents the idea of the freedoms & liberties.

As stated under Title 4, Chapter 1:
PROC. NO. 2605. THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES
        Proc. No. 2605, Feb. 18, 1944, 9 F.R. 1957, 58 Stat. 1126,
        provided:
The flag of the United States of America is universally
representative of the principles of the justice, liberty, and
democracy enjoyed by the people of the United States; and
        People all over the world recognize the flag of the United States as symbolic of the United States;

When you say the “Pledge of Allegiance”, you pledge your allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America & to the Republic for which it stands; one nation under GOD, with liberty & justice for all, not to the United States Government & the political ideology for which it stands. You have apparently confused the two.

The flag represents what is, was & could be great about our country & is not just a colored piece of cloth.

And I don’t think that there is anyone who thinks that they have special rights because of any loss that we may have had. But there are those of us who know what it is to sacrifice & to lose people we have fought alongside in defense of our liberties. And we know that those sacrifices & losses are represented by that piece of cloth that you think is just a flag.

      • S.C.Murf

God our heavenly father raised up America to defend Israel along with the U.K. He has made us as great as we are to fight this battle. Our flag shows the world what we stand for. It’s not an idol, it’s a symbol, big difference. Maybe it’s TIME for you to take a close look at who you are really for

      • Richard

Yes, and it’s false pride that is a sin, not “being proud”. If we lose our freedom the country or countries that replace us will have a flag and although it may be hated, all WILL SALUTE IT and not by choice. Our founding fathers told us that this nation and the way they set it up would not work for any but a spiritual people who believed in the God and in the basics of the Bible, not church, not religion (man’s idea of God) but the universal truths of life as expressed in the Bible. Interestingly that Bible speaks of many interesting things in the future such as a one world money system that will be compulsory (even for a king) and a leader of most of the world who will not believe in the God of his fathers and will eventually demand to be worshipped upon pain of death. Hopefully this will still be a long way off. If anyone reading this doesn’t like what is going on they need to vote someone new into office, and if they don’t do what is right, vote them out at the nearest chance. No more can we just vote an assume that all will be well and they will do what is best. Watch not what they say but their every move, and as they sell out to the special interests replace them as soon as you can. The night is far gone and that is the only chance we have of saving our nation. Additionally belivers need to pray more than they have because you have to carry the spiritual weight of those who not only don’t pray but don’t even don’t ever understand the power and necessity of pray. Next week is the last to register in many places and if you don’t vote than don’t bother to complain at the results.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Richard,
WRONG! I salute only one flag!! The Stars and Stripes!!! That is the only flag I will EVER salute and honor!!! I don’t know if you fought under that flag, but I did and I respect it! There is nothing at all political about it! there is only a love for my country. As Mark Twain said, Respect your country always, Respect your government, when they earn it!!!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I will not bow down and salute to another flag, or to another human being. If they want to put me do the sword for refusing, then so be it. But just as I will worship no one other than Jesus Christ, I will not be forced to salute anothers flag either. And I will gladly go to the grave with my righteousness intact. I fear no man, nor should I.

      • Bob

Smurf You’re talking about the real Axis of Evil.

      • JeffH

TIME, again as usual your feel and explanations are pretty accurate.

There are still those that fly the flag for the memory of what it once stood for…Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. To fly the flag without fully embracing those freedoms would be nothing more than waving a false flag. Having know DaveH through this website for several years now I think I somewhat understand his “shock & awe” approach.
As you and many of us know, Dave ain’t nowhere near a liberal and he believes 100% of what he posts. He’s not here to get a bunch of “atta boy Dave” pats on the back. He’s just trying to get the message through.

This is what inspires me from time to time and I’ll share it for everyone else. The oft forgotten Pledge of Allegiance as recited by a great patriot bu the name of John Wayne.

Hey, ‘TIME” I am awake, and I voted AGAINST THE CURRENT REGIME. However,Nobody claims that flying a flag makes you better than the next guy. Alot of men died to defend what THAT FLAG REPRESENTS. THAT’S WHY THOSE MARINES HOISTED THAT FLAG ON IWO JIMA as soon as they could.
Let me tell you something, TIME; you don’t have to believe as we do, that the flag is A SYMBOL of what we in this country believe, As the other guy says : in liberty and justice for all. I’ll have a little of that justice for all stuff–I’m a Christian, and we’re not getting much justice. But the muslims sure are. Perhaps you would prefer a flag with a half moon, or a hammer and a sickle. Even the muslims, who hate us so much, burn our flag as a form of protest. I don’t see us blowing up mosques, or whatever, and even the borderline bonehead who wanted to burn a Qu’ran was begged to not do it. These are symbols of what we believe and what we stand for, TIME, DON’T MAKE IT SOMETHING IT’S NOT. And for heaven’s sake, those who believe in our country, and what our forefathers died to protect and obtain,FLY IT!! FLY IT PROUDLY!

      • ChuckL

You have completely missed the point, TIME. This is not a question of “pride” which is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, but of respecting your country and its accomplishments. It is unfortunate that the same word is used for multiple meanings. The use of multiple meanings allows an attack to be made when no attack is called for. The sinful definition also includes the requirement that the self esteem must be inordinate or unreasonable. This multiple meanings is an unfortunate characteristic of most languages. It has the capability of providing detractors to choose an out of context meaning for the sole purpose of demeaning the speaker.

DaveH has chosen to berate patriotic Germans as being not patriotic because their patriotism was misplaced in the wrong leader. Their patriotism was misplaced because Hitler had taken over the schools, in the same manner that Obama and the Liberal, Socialist, Progressives, are taking over the education system in this country. The true history of the origins of this country are no longer taught. The fact that most of the original colonies were founded on religious freedoms with a Christian basis is ignored or denied. The reasons for the Constitutional limitations on the federal government are ignored. The permissions given to the federal government are ignored. Almost all of them are covered in Article 1, Sect. 8 and in the 10th Amendment.

        To paraphrase what the federal government is to do;
-1. Defend the country from all invasions.
-2. Maintain a level playing field for the conduct of business throughout the Republic.
-3. Prevent religious discrimination and disqualify itself from making a decision in any religious matter. It may only act on the civil aspects of a legal matter. i.e. In a matter of a religiously mandated human sacrifice, the federal government may act because the government has a vested interest in the protection of life.

We have the freedoms that we enjoy because of the sacrifices of military personnel.
DaveH is correct that the Government has grown out of control. That is not the result of the military, but of selfish voters always voting for more welfare payments, which incidentally the federal government is not authorized to provide.

Quotations of our Founding Fathers are:

“The instrument by which [government] must act are either the AUTHORITY of the laws or FORCE. If the first be destroyed, the last must be substituted; and where this becomes the ordinary instrument of government there is an end to liberty! “–Alexander Hamilton, Tully, No. 3, 1794

“The proposed Constitution, so far from implying an abolition of the State governments, makes them constituent parts of the national sovereignty, by allowing them a direct representation in the Senate, and leaves in their possession certain exclusive and very important portions of sovereign power. This fully corresponds, in every rational import of the terms, with the idea of a federal government.” –Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 9

“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite.” –James Madison, Federalist No. 45

The Federal Government of this country was never intended to control everything in the country. It was intended to create only a defensive capability to defend against the massive countries of Europe. That is why the States were given the right to have the State legislature select the Senators for the Federal Government, while the representatives were elected by popular vote.

When someone wishes to berate the government for what it has done, or not done, perhaps they should first read the Constitution to see if what was done was allowed. Much of what the current congress has passed such as: Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is NOT authorized. It was passed by the Progressives by intentional misinterpretation of the “Commerce clause”. They deliberately misinterpreted it to mean that they could determine the products, in addition to insuring fair and even handed behavior between the states.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Being proud and being prideful are two different things, so dont prostitute the Bible here. We should take pride in our work, and the things we do, which is different that being prideful, where we think we are all that and can do no wrong. Two different things. I proudly fly the American flag, and I gracefully give God thanks everyday for the freedom’s He affords me living here, and for those who gave all that we for one could establish this country, and for two, to maintain this country. For them I fly the flag, not for the Republicans, or the Democrats, or for any President or Governor or Senator or government. No, the United States of America is WE THE PEOPLE. I mean, geez, isnt that written somewhere, like maybe the Constitution? WE THE PEOPLE are the United States of America. Not no big government, or some political party. You guys got it all wrong.

      • usmadgirl

        Beberoni,

        AMEN!!!

    • Bobby B.

Dave, you have to be one of the most confused people in the world. How in the world did you ever make that connection?

    • Jim Butler

How sad that you make that connection with flying the flag of our Country. To me flying the flag actually stands for liberty and all the things this Country was founded on.

      • DaveH

What Liberty? We used to have Liberty. We foolishly gave that away to power hungry leaders decades ago.

      • Renee

        Dave,
I totally agree with you about the government. However, I fly the flag for what it used to mean. I don’t see much changing in our country uless we all stand up together and acknowledge what has actually happened. We need to be more aware that the gov. is not there for us anymore but (We, the people, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of American.) WE have let this country down by our ingnorance. I fly the flag for what I want this country to stand for again. YES, the government has been given the power they have by us and we need to figure out and quick, a way to relieve them of that. They were put in office to work for the people but because some who are voting (which by the way they shouldn’t) are only looking for a free handout, they vote for those that tell them they will get it. All that does is cause people to become lazy and dependent on this big government you are talking about (and we pay big for the lazy). The flag doesn’t stand for that, it isn’t an idol, it’s a symbol. I don’t worship it, I worship God. The government has abused it’s meaning, but I know what it used to stand for and that is why I fly it. Soldiers, my heart breaks for them, they want to serve this country because in their hearts they are fighting for freedom and we need to respect these men and women. The government lies about everything and all they want is more powerand I agree they are being used. There is blame that they alone deserve and our service men and women do not deserve that blame. I believe their hearts are in the right place.

      • TIME

        Renee,

A very good post, thank you for seeing the value of Daves post and understandingit root meaning.

      • Steve N.

Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” John 18:38

WHAT?!? What it USED to mean!??! When did it’s meaning change!?!?! WHO changed it? YOU?!?!? It still means the same as it always did. I served in the military during the cold war. I remember standing on a hill in Southern Bavaria, beyond the 1K “kill zone” overlooking a valley into Czechoslovakia and thinking: ‘how did their pride & sovereignty ever degrade to this?’I served proudly, blah, blah, blah…. does anyone REALLY give a crap? Well, I did then & I do now and the flag has never ever stopped meaning the land of the free, and the home of the brave. I fear that poor Dave, being an atheist, may never comprehend the profound meaning of the Crucifixion, and yet, so many “believers” are even now being deceived by their religious leaders for lack of true scriptural discernment….I will pray for Dave (to a God he sadly doesn’t believe exists), and I will pray for our country, and I will pray for Mao-Bama to find his way, & I will pray for everyone here who posts on Bob’s site….

      • usmadgirl

        Steve N,

Thank you for your service to our country! That’s still what the flag means to me as well! My eyes still well up every time I see the flag when our National Anthem is playing!

I can’t comprehend how many “non-believers” we have in this once great country. I am such an undisciplined “believer”, but I always have someone to talk to no matter how things are going in my life. Who do “non-believers” talk to? How can they not be lonely even in a world filled with people when they don’t have God to talk to?

Thank you for your prayers for DaveH, the others on this site & O’Dumbo. I hope you’ll remember me as well. I haven’t been on the site much in the past several months because my business has picked up. NO, that’s NOT a sign of the economy being better. I’m a real estate title abstractor & fortunately for me, but unfortunately for others, 95% of my business has been title searches for foreclosures.

        2 Chronicles 7:14

God bless you & God Bless America!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

In response to Steve, I agree with you. God is same then as He is now, and always will be. The flag means land of the free, and home of the brave, and always has and always will. There are those who try to change what it stands for, and it has nothing to do with big government as Dave says. Nothing. It has all to say about those who gave their lives forming this country, for those who died fighting to establish freedom for all of us, that we still enjoy today. Land of the free. To see it as any other thing, is an insult to those who gave all for it, and an insult to all who live free under this flag. It has absolutely nothing at all to do with any “big government” that Dave is paranoid about. Me, I have the peace of God in me, and no government is any threat to me. I know whose I am, and I fully know who is in control. And it isnt no stinking eartly government. They are here today, and gone tomorrow, always have been, and always will be. But God is always here, and never leaves. When Dave comes to know that, I fully believe as it says in the good Word, his eyes and ears will be opened, and only then will he see the truth. Until then, fear shall have it’s hold on him, as Satan has his way with those in the dark. Thats just how it is.

      • spike

Well,Dave, what say we all grow a pair, and take our LIBERTY back?

      • Richard

We still have the LIBERTY to support someone entirely new. THAT is what the TEA PARTY is mostly about. It’s also why the establishment Republicans do not support the TEA PARTY candidates, but since the TEA PARTY has to join one side or the other to get elected in the present set-up most of their beliefs are closer to the Republican than the Democrat. Either the Republican party will change or the TEA PARTY may eventually replace them.

WE HAVE the Liberty to assemble. Try that is Communist China. The Chinese massacre of 3,000 mostly students in 1989 is almost forgotten over there where they are told that it was only 300 dissents trying to topple the government because they had a thirty food paper mache’ STATUE OF LIBERTY and wanted the freedoms we have. WE HAVE freedom of religion. Try that in Russia where the state church is the Russian Orthodox or in Saudi Arabia where not a single church or synagogue is allowed (but they sponsor some 80 percent of the mosques in the USA including 100 in NYC) or in Central America where many churches have been invaded by the theology that we can be god and everyone is the same or should be. What freedom don’t you have?

It’s true that since the Democrats gave our money system over to those who set up the FEDERAL RESERVE we don’t have as much financial freedom as we once did, and it is those same socialists who are trying to solve our economic problems that were caused by spending to much money (yes, both parties spent to much), by spending even more money. I have never quite figured out how one stops a flood by adding more water but maybe the socialists know something I don’t If we don’t get off our high horse of being better than the next guy and knowing what is the answer to everything then those whose goal is to reduce the USA to just a component in a new system of things will have won. Don’t just vote next month but do all you can to get all you can to vote too. Neither establishment Democrats nor establishment Republicans are going to solve this financial mess we are in and it is going to get incredibly more difficult before it gets better. It is going to be hard work and if you are not willing to do what you can I have no advice to give you. All are needed. That is how the whole system was set up. We don’t have kings and Lords and Barons here but some in Washington have forgotten that. We can remind them next month. Register and vote!

    • DaveH

And there we have it. It is so obvious from all the comments, why we are at the current state of affairs. Only a few of the above commenters have a clue as to what Liberty really is. Thanks for blindly following the Big Government leaders and helping to create the very UnFree country in which we now live.

      • Patriot Pamela

I would have 2 agree w/ U; Dave…so few citizens this day R aware and Urself included{based soley on the previous comments}of just what liberty is! I obviously come baring several points that may B of interest. First I include U among the many w/out a clue due 2 the fact that U neglect 2 aknowledge the demonstrated liberties that opposing views have verbalized and demonstrated! Secondly Ur demeaning comments include a hint of the past 4 which I care NOT 2 repeat… remember the words All Men R Created Equal? Seems not by U; Ur attempt 2 publicly express Ur desire 2 SURPRESS Freedom Of Personal Opposing Views clearly denotes Ur lack of intellegents! Since I do not care 2 B included in that I will attempt 2 edgucate, enlighten and inspire: I personally disagree that flying the flag is not political; I consider it 2 B a broadly based opinion that supports MY government! YES, I fly the flag and was raised 2 do so by MY father whom served proudly in the Navy. I do not think arrogantly that MY government nor it’s general population is PERFECT I do however feel that it is MY responsability and duty 2 help shape the neighborhood, state, nation and even the world that I live in!! So 2 all practice tolerance and keep Ur wits about U learning is the greatest gift U can give Urself and the oppertunity of teaching others is the greatest gift U can share with others. Certainly Dave had I just blurted out insults at U; U’d not continue 2 read this! Where then would U have gained ground? Or ME 4 that matter…Surpression of knowldge has NEVER served this Country nor any other well.

We, the people, are the ones that put them there. And we, the people, are the only ones with the power to remove them. Get educated before you pull the lever on voting day. Thats all.

    • refuse2lose

You left one thing out…… when your country is in distress, like we are now,you should fly the flag UPSIDE DOWN.

      • Mike

Yes, upside down is appropriate for our current situation.

      • Marten

I agree with you big time!!!!!

    • KooKKy

Now, that’s a whacky comment. I’m not a republican, but I love to see our flag waving. Many a democrat has fought to defend that flag. It represents ALL of us. Why can’t you just appreciate the fact that it represents not just your country, but the freedoms associated with it…which I’m sure you enjoy and love?

      • Richard

I think the problem is that many have already adopted the European viewpoint that it is JUST A FLAG and since they do not believe in good or evil they do not see that we have been special and different from all other nations. There is world wide jealousy of the USA and rather than find out why we became great it is easier to just try to tear us down.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree with you. Im a republican, but God bless every democrat, every republican, every Christian, every atheist, every race color and creed that fought for our independance, and fought to put down the racist hater Hitler, and gave all that we might continue to fly the American flag as a symbol of Peace and Freedom. And to anyone who says it represents big government, they need to pull their head out of their arse, because big government is the biggest threat to making this flag cease from flying. They are two entities at separate ends, and shame on anyone who says the flag belongs to big government. What an insult to all of us, especially those who gave all.

    • JeffH

DaveH, I would call that a false flag waving for anyone who embraces the BIG GOVERNMENT ideals.

      • Richard

Indeed! Big government is best represented by the flag of the UN.

      • JeffH

        Yup!

      • BrotherPatriot

BINGO! OMFG…I have been researching those bastards for awhile now and it the equation just keep coming back to them & their Agenda.

        Say NO to the NWO!

        Bunch of social degenerates…!

    • http://personalliberty.com Carolyn

More than ever, I would like you to explain why, WHY are there now flags being made with 59 stars??
A lady in Florida went to her child’s first day of school, was given a booklet with the flag on front.. This flag had 59 stars and this was not explained… What is this administration doing now?
      I am outraged

      • Tom in Tennessee

        Puerto Rico!!!!!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Tom,
I hate to break it to you but Puerto Rico is NOT a state!! There is supposed to be one star for each STATE!!

      • sylviam

They may not be a state now but just wait and see. Remember, DO NOT TAKE YOU EYE OFF THE BALL, meaning, don’t listen to what they say but watch their hands,—– It is the Plan of this GOV. to be in the NWO you have to have MORE LAND, They are called, AMERICAN TERRITORY, but most likely SOON TO BE THE NEXT STATE, ergo they just snuck another STAR on the flag.
In other words they have slid past the right way to do things and thats how they work.

      • usmadgirl

        Hi Joe H,

Tom in Tennessee & Sylvia M are right except it’s only 51 stars (to my knowledge) not 59, as someone said. Shame on you if you haven’t been watching Glenn!

As you know, ever so often, Puerto Rico is asked if they want to become a state. They have the best of both worlds if they don’t, but THIS time (thanks to our radical, unconstitutional criminal administration & some Pureto Rican political thugs to promote statehood) the question was going to be asked differently (sorry, I don’t have time to look at my “Glenn notes”) so they would pretty much have to say “yes”! That would mean another 3 million (I think) more Dumb-o-craps to vote! Sorry my information is so vague, but I’m trying to work & do this at the same time!

      • Christin

        usmadgirl,

Yes, the progressives want to trick Puerto Rico into having to say yes to USA statehood not only to get what they believe is more Dem votes, but it would also add TWO MORE DEM SENATORS and FIVE MORE DEM HOUSE SEATS!!!!!! (Got that from my Glenn notes!)

Progressives are just trying to beef up their Dem base to stay in power even if it is underhanded and cheating since most of America think they are socialist loons.

      • usmadgirl

        Christin,

You are exactly right!!! Just like what I’ve said ever since O’Dumbo took office, they will grant amnesty to all the illegals. I saw Janet Napolitano on O’Reilly last night saying that they had “deported” more illegals than anyone ever had (or something to that effect). I don’t believe ANYTHING they say & if what she said is true, you can bet your butt, there’s an ulterior motif!

      • Tinwarble

These flags are coming from China. Everyone needs to know to never buy a flag made in China, or any other country for that matter. These flags are not made by the standards that they should be made.

        See this: http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/news/cnn062510.htm

      • Claire

Tinwarble– I had to buy two flags this past spring, I found them at Menards–Made in the U.S.A. — I gave my old flags to my neighbor and he took them to the VFW. I love to fly my flags. To me Old Glory is the symbol of freedom for all Americans, including the past history of the flag, the wars, and how the flag came to be. When I look at my flags I think of this, not any administration.

      • http://jimsflagsales.com jrvause

I’m in the business of selling flags, I must agree with you that many United States flags being sold today are made overseas. I’m sorry, they are not the flag of the United States. I will not sell a U.S. Flag that is not made in the USA. Maybe I’m just too proud. Semper Fi,
        Jim. jimsflagsales.com

      • Claire

        jrvause— Good for you!!

      • independant thinker

You can find flags madee in the USA. You might have to look for them and pay a little more for them but they are there.

      • BobinTX

        Good for you jrvause.

I proudly fly the flag everyday. I fly my nylon flag in inclement weather, and my cotton flag on clear days. I’ve worn out several flags, as I’ve been flying them for years, rain or shine. I don’t care what others may think of flag flying, to me, the flag has no politics… it represents the sacrifices of all those that fought to preserve our liberty and freedoms. I dedicate each new flag to either to my father, (WWII, B-17 pilot Europe), or my father-in-law, (Korea, infantry).

Out of respect, I will never, nor have I ever, bought a U.S. Flag that is not made in the USA.

    • sylviam

I bet you haven’t even heard of Old Glory and the way it stood even AFTER it had been bombed, shot and wind revaged, when the FIGHTING stopped IN HONOR OF OUR UNITED MEN won the battle. IT S A SYMBOL OF OUR GREAT RUEPUBLIC. Now if you cannot find any other venue to bash your so called LIBERALS & RIGHT WINGERS, then find another subject to do it in
      GOD BLESS AMERICA

      Dave H

You’re a freakin idiot. Buy a ticket to anywhere out of borders because you’re wasting our resources and contributing to the degradation of symbol that allows you to be such an idiot without penalty.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I usually whole heartedly agree with you Dave, but not on this one. However, Im not one to say your wrong and Im right, its individual preference on this, but for me individually, flying the flag means that I am an American, that I love this country, and that I will die defending this country against any attacks, outside or inside. The only problem I have, is when I see places put the Mexican or other flags on top of it, which is against the law, but it seems it happens more and more, and nothing becomes of it. Kind of like illegal immigration. Its illegal, and nothing is done about it. But flying the flag is as American as it gets, and it transcends Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or anything else. And if your Libertarian Party is against flying the flag of the United States of America, then I dont foresee them garnering many votes in any election. If this is part of their platform, and the general public comes to know this, that party is doomed before it takes off. And thats not my personal opinion, that is a fact I know will be echoed by all American’s of every race, color and creed, regardless of being Republican or Democrat.

    • Andee

Thirty six per cent of Americans think our national flag should be eliminated..I find this repulsive and I find a President standing on our flag on the ground even moreso if that is possible!

Our flag has a story to tell and it should be treated with respect and all the respect it deserves. Contact your local VFW, they have the 21 regulations affiliated with respecting and flying our flag…it is never to be worn as clothing, head scarves, flown off an antenna, flown at night unless a light is shining upon it.

Our flag: The red stands for the blood, and it was massive that was shed for the beginning of America, the white is for the purity of the God we were settled under, the blue background and the stars…this is where our forefathers and ancestors fought the battle to free this nation from the English…remember, that is why they came over…we are under similar persecution now but no place to go….New Zealand, don’t come unless you have a job, same in Denmark and that is the way it should be all over…cannot take care of yourself and your family, stay home where you are…………..thanks.
Oh, one more thing. Look into Oathkeepers and then ask them about the duties of your County Sheriff under the laws of the Constitution. You will no doubt be surprised and amazed…
