DNC Leader Blasts Republican Pledge

September 28, 2010 by

DNC leader blasts Republican pledgeIn the wake of the Republicans' recently announced "Pledge to America," liberals have responded with sharp criticism of their rivals' agenda.

According to Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine, the 21-page document crafted by GOP House leaders will send the United States back to the same Bush-era policies that led to "a second Great Depression."

Kaine urged voters to consider the repercussions of a Republican-controlled Congress that plans to extend tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

"Do we continue to have Democrats making it the job of the government to fight for working families or do we permit Republicans to use government to benefit special interests at the expense of the American people?" Kaine said.

The "Pledge to America" has garnered disapproval from some conservative pundits, as well. Erick Erickson of RedState.com said the pledge is "an illusion" that focuses on issues the GOP should already be tackling, and it doesn't include plans for dealing with the long-term role of the Federal government.

For Republicans to gain a majority in the House of Representatives, they need a net gain of 39 seats in November's midterm elections.

Is it really a surprise what the Deemers have to say about anything the opposition has stated, is it worth making a comment on what a Deemer thinks about anything lately?….this is hardly worth time and print.

    • Bob Wire

      When did you ever care?

  • Michael is confused?

More Bullsheeet words. I wouldn’t trust my own mother walking thru the halls of congress. It’s a house/den of wolves.

My pledge to America is to vote the Incumbent out! I don’t care if he/she is a Rep or a Dem! Our whole system is out of wack so bad, anyone that has held office and still allowing the fat and the bull to be flying around needs to be gone. I believe in the 3 strike clause, and if you want any change in Washington you need a clean sweep and start again, we failed the last 3 presidents.

    Enough is enough!
To much politics and no just people left in our goverment. EVERYONE got an agenda and that’s mine. If every incumbent is ousted, and maybe this would take 2 or 3 times, maybe we would get some people in there that are for the PEOPLE. Im just tired of the whole process. If a sign says re-elect, I guarantee you I wont be doing it.

    • slickporsche

That would surely be a step in the right direction, vote out all incumbents. ALL=100%

Jopa,, you don’t even see the added taxes that have been infiltrated in everything we buy, prices of goods are going thru the roof but you’re too dumb to see it,everyone pay those added taxes not just the people making over $250,000,,,And why would we have to borrow $ 700 billions for the tax break, don’t just say it, explain it………

If you cannot run or stand by your record then you cannot stand on any principles! If you truely feel the country is heading in the right direction based on your vote over the last 2 years then you should be shouting from the highest tree and be proud of your commitment! If not; you should be thrown out for misleading and mis-representation of your position! Strange that Obama has never stood by his record, there are more questions then answers with this guy!

,as welli’ll try to simplify things, you see by now everyone should know that progressives liberal are not economic savvy, even if they were what they do,is related to a bigger issue, the same goes with moderate republicans;i know this will be politically correct insensitive;so we’ll see if the truth, logic, and common sense rules the day,or over rules my facts;from, adam’s eve to today’s michelle obama;just look at who were our leaders most powerful influences;progressive liberal feminist;even ronald reagan had nancy”exalt my will above god humanity, and law”reagan; hillary like all hyphenated american wifes;preferred the rodham over clinton;but as much as she resented it. like all liberal women their notoriety, and successes were springboarded by,or off the coattails of their husbands, fathers, affirmative action,or other government programs;even john kerry’s wife(teresa”heinz”kerry) is the beneficiary of the brains, blood, sweat, and tears,of john heinz/republican,of the heinz ketchup, fortune.and now her gigalo husband who’s whole of accomplishments,is living off a government check, and mooching off the heinz fortune;like hillary both women prefer the names of their father’s,and ex husband, over their present husbands;women like these are the main reason the divorce rate, and adultery, have been, out of control.understand this;i’m not making excuses, for men either.you don’t become, what you dislike about others, lower your standards to theirs,or allow temptation to overwhelm, self control;that is weakness, controlled by,anger, hate, revenge, obsessions, and addictions;and it boggles my mind, how many americans anxiously vote continuously for the same people, who can’t govern their own lives, believing they can,or will help them govern their own;but liberals don’t vote for candidates,so they can have an opportunity to succeed, they vote for them so those they hate, and are jealous of can’t succeed,or have opportunities,of their own,and by their own merits;i’m just saying if you are tired of voting, and believing you get a conservative candidate, than they govern, and legislate as liberal’s;their number one advisors,of whom we didn’t vote for,is calling the shots;their spouses;learn from your mistakes or you will be condemned to repeat them;look at all of our presidents for the past 100 years;then look at their spouses influences, and it will explain why we are the mess we are in and why the political apathy;good judgement, logic common sense, and good character.has constantly been overruled by;feelings, and emotions;which is the main reason elitist intellectual rainmain type pundents, and politicians, and especially feminist groups hate, the likes of those like sarah palin;jealousy, and the fear of losing over 100 years of femnazism;”exalt my will above god, humanity, human life, and human liberty;my feelings, and emotions over, truth, facts, logic, commonsense, and the law;scripture say’s “in the last days, women will rule, and their children, will rule over them;you can’t deny that hasn’t happened;even rush limbaugh said he went to a big republican party dinner/political event;he said republican politicians told him in private that they wished he would quit promoting social issues important to true constitutionalist conservatives;that their wives are ready to divorce them, and destroy, their political careers, and will never get the touchy-feely,my way or the highway, femnazi vote;if he doesn’t change his venue politically,on his radio show;these men, aren;t men, they are cowards, who stand for nothing but their own power;to pay for the obsessions, and addictions,of their predatorial, perverse, and deadbeat, femnazi’ wives, and mistresses;they are not leaders they are pimps, prostitutes, and government subsidized slumlords;again liberal women see those like sarah palin, michelle bachman, marsha blackburn, and christine o’donnell,as the other women, that threatens their own infeority complex, self esteem, and insecurities that haunt them minute by minute, and what they think rightfully belongs to them;just as those like bill clinton, john edwards etc;obsessions, and addictions for women;liberal women have the same obsessions, and addictions;but for other peoples lives, liberties, rights, resources, property, and especially other people’s children;as an example;those like hillary”how much for your children;”rodham clinton’s,obsessions of other people’s children;in conservatives battle for parental rights;which if we weren’t living in the bizarro world,of liberalism, and political correctness;instead of constitutional rights endowed by our creator;this would not only be seen as pathetic, but those who think like hillary, and bill would be charged as sex offenders, predators, and pedophiles;then justice would be served;tip to those who are true constitutionalist, instead of selective constionalist;like those i have spoken of in this blog;any time you hear anyone say we need a bigger party, and not a purer party;thats political code spin;for my liberal wife,or my liberal special interest money will determine my vote, not my campaign promises, the constitution, truth, equality, and justice for all; these people don’t want to deal with moral,or character issues;because they have no moral values,or of good, and honorable character themselves;i know i’m so insensitive to the feelings of others no;unlike all the liars, and cowardly politicians, and pundents;i speak the truth;,and women like sarah palin, and michelle bachman, have uncovered the fraud of what is supposed to representative,of women; and shown what every honorable, trustworthy, and loyal man,who isn’t threatened by a real example for women;that doesn’t need to be propped up by their fathers, husbands, media, and government;in order to succeed, not threatened by the success,or happiness of the same, and can can actually walk, and chew gum at the same time;effectively managing their homes, their families, their children, and their careers;with spouses, who are not, threatened, jealous intimidated,by their abilities,or feel the need to prop themselves up,by way of their abilities;then claim it was their own abilities, and not their spouse, the media,or government;which is the case with liberals;rise to prominence, success, and prosperity

The tax break for people making under $250,000 will remain intact, but will expire for those making more under the democrats plan.If the tax break continues for the rich we will have to borrow $700 BILLION to pay for their tax break. That will be an extra tax for the low income earners just so the rich can bank more money. We are currently under the Bush tax cut plan and the republicans want to make this doomsday scenario permanent.

Your economics thought does not bear out in historical fact.

Lowering the barriers to the producers always increases revenue, increasing business leverages increased overall tax yield even with a lower citezen theft rate.

      Thank you, Freedom Fighter!

Jopa and his ilk fail to recognize that most small business falls into that “over $250K” category. They are so envious of the rich that they would indeed kill the goose that lays the golden egg, just so they could buy a few more lottery tickets.

      • http://ahalbert@smart-technology.net Allan Halbert

Yes, liberals love to hate the rich. But I bet none of them would turn down a nice inheritance that made them rich. Would they still bash the rich? Sure. The majority of millionaires in Congress are Dems.

      • Bob Wire

Hate ~ is not the proper description.

That we might voice apprehensive of intent ~ does not constitute “hate”

Let’s face it ! The wealthy are out numbered and “must be” devious to affect they will. Is this not so?

      • Harold Olsen

And, to protect themselves from the taxes they levy on us, they hide their money overseas.

      • Bob Wire

I would enjoy such a problem as where to hide my money.

  • Rip

I have seen a lot of truth in every entry here, but I have also seen a load of crap in a lot of them. I see all kinds of ideas, and some could work to some degree, If We here at this post could keep from calling each other Names and act like real adults, We might come up with an actual workable solution…… There has been a clamor for a Constitutional Convention, at a time when there is such an imbalance of power a Con. Con. would be a big mistake,
We the People would be the ONLY Ones getting Coned.
A better solution might Be a Constitutional Reset, Leaving in only the parts dealing with racial and sexual Equality, discrimination from any direction and take care of our elders, end the free ride for all these foreign countries, we keep giving them money that we don’t have! Slam the Borders Shut! (at least for a couple of years until we can root out those who should Not be here) Bring our troops Home and have them protect our borders, and Stay the hell out of other countries Business, unless it threatens U.S.
another thing needs to be an immediate cut in the size of the federal government say 20% with an additional 30% to follow within three years
or We could all just set back pretty soon We would All work for the government doing Nothing and getting paid double what Nothing is worth

    • Mick

Rip…you have some good points. I have been saying pretty much the same thing and more restrictions on spending for decades only to be call insensitive and crude…

    • Vigilant

The most dangerous thing we could do would be to have a Constitutional convention OR a “reset.”

The fault is not with the Constitution but with power-hungry pols and their indolent constituencies. Any attempt to tinker with this near-perfect document would almost certainly result in left wing provisions that would only further weaken the respect for law that made this country great.

About the only thing most people agree upon is a repeal of the Electoral College provision. For my money, the 17th amendment and the voting age provisions should be changed back to the original methods for appointing Senators, and raising the voting age back to 21.

  • 45caliber

So keeping the tax breaks will cause more problems than all the spending the Dems are now doing, huh?

When I try to control my own cash flow, I first cut all the expenses that I can. That means all the frivilous stuff (you might call it ‘pork’) goes. Then if I’m still in a hurt, I start cutting all the necessary stuff, the little stuff first. Sooner or later I get to a point where I can live on what income I have. At the same time I start looking for more income (a new job).

The politicians (both parties) keep the pork and either borrow, tax, or both. They don’t want to cut any spending, regardless of the problem. And tax isn’t finding a new job; it is simply stealing more from those who have one.

    • dan az

      45
      Funny how that works!

    • Bob Wire

The Dems are only for the unions and special interest groups.
The unions are bankrupting this country as they are doing in Greece.

I would like to see the conservatives disembowel all of the public unions this will be the only way to get this country back on track.

    • 45caliber

When unions first got started, they were needed. But then the Syndicate and the Mafia noticed all those union dues coming in and took over. As far as I can tell, things haven’t changed since. We need to get rid of what unions we now have, see if we can’t put the officals in jail for scams, and start over in about twenty years or so. But we certainly don’t need to keep what we now have!

      • Harold Olsen

Unions help only themselves not their members whom they are supposed to help. I’m a union member–SEIU. Have you heard of them?? Yeah, I’ll be you have. When we first had them forced on us, we were promised our union dues would be lower and we’d get better benefits. Well, just the opposite happened. We never hear from them. We just pay our dues and get no benefits. We have no input on contract negotiations and we have no meetings. When co-workers have had job related problems, they get nowhere. SEIU’s policy seems to be “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” Oh, I didn’t exactly tell the truth. I have heard from SEIU. I got a call from them a couple fof weeks ago wanting me to participate in a–I guess, nationwide–conference call. What was it for? Why to push for the Obama agenda, of course. It was supposed help us if we helped him get his agenda through and make us more powerful. Yeah, right!

Much worse than a joke. They are dangerous entities that are undermining the basic principles of this country. Intimidation, card check, bankrupting states and municipalities, and worst of all, supporting political candidates (invariably democrats) with dues taken from conservatives and Republicans.

        john:

At one time my mother was strongly union. When I graduated from college and was looking for work, she wanted me to get a job where she worked since it was union.

I pointed out how much she gave the union each month and multiplied by the number of people working there. $35,000 a month to her union. Then I started asking about the union’s expenses. It finally came down to three people who went to Los Vegas each three years to “negotiate a new contract.” They then spent three months there at union expense before signing the new contract at midnight before the workers were supposed to strike.

She thought it over – and quit the union. Luckily it was a Right-to-Work state.

Odd that the Dems are running from their records and leaders but have nothing to say but that they “fight for working families.” That tired rhetoric again?

If the election goes as predicted with a GOP pick up of 51+ House seats, many of the newcomers will be solid conservatives and won’t be content to sit on the back benches. If 10 seats change hands in the Senate, most newcomers will be conservative and will look to Jim DeMint for leadership, not McConnell. And DeMint’s no patsy.

    • 45caliber

Back in the early ’60s the Democrats were basically for the working man. But then they discovered block voting by minority groups. The working man was tossed out the nearest window as they started trying to buy votes with the working man’s money.

I haven’t called the Dems ‘the party of the working man’ since. They are the ‘party of the minorities’. The only time they mention the working man any more is when they catch fire from sponsoring minorities. Even the unions are minorities any more although they want the Dems to make them manditory for the country.

  • Howard Roark

The Dems are hell bent to place the new tax burden on only the wealthy.

There is this fact though that is known as unintended consequences.

For example New York State tried this very thing. the Dems touted the big money that they were going to take in with their tax on the wealthy, (those nasty people who worked harder than they did)

The results were that the wealthy packed up and left the State and the amount of money taken was miniscule. The same thing happened in California. When the Governor of Cal. was asked where the State traditionally got their tax money, he replied that it came primarily from the wealthy. He was then asked if the wealthy ever revolt, and he replied that they often take their money and leave the State. (I would call that a revolt)

I have heard some Dems say that if we tax the wealthy, by means of the Fed Govt, nation wide, that the wealthy could not escape the tax.

They couldn’t be more wrong. In a recent interview with Donald Trumph he said that he knows these people (the wealthy) and whether they live here or Switzerland does not matter to them. The intreviewer than said “but you have not left” to which Mr. Trumph said “NOT YET”.

    • 45caliber

True. In fact, I saw an economist who stated that if you took every penny that every person made over $50,000 a year (which means taking all the income from the millionares and billionares) it would run the government for 11 days. The rest of the money must come from those making less than $50,000 a year – the middle class.

      • Vigilant

And I saw a study some years ago that said if you took ALL the $$$ in the USA and redistributed it evenly to every man, woman and child, within two years the financial distribution would be essentially the same as before the redistribution. The poor would be poor again and the rich would become rich again.

Reason? The dumb and indolent would do as they do now: waste the $$$ on lottery tickets, scams, and bling-bling, while the entrepreneurs (people who actually work for a living) would once again clean up.

The socialist/communist manure spread by the left fertilizes nothing but discontent, appeals to the basest in human nature (greed, avarice, sloth), and hopes that the sheep haven’t read history since it shows that forced redistribution of wealth NEVER works.

      • 45caliber

When democrat idoits moan about big corporations screwing the workers, go look at what democrap smucks serve on the boards after being voted out of office or out of the administration. It’s the wealthy who give people jobs. If I’m lucky, I’ll make around $25,000 this year, that’s not even middle income. But it’s a job and the company I work for is not owned by a poor person. It’s the wealthy who provide jobs. If you hate the wealthy so much, the next time you need a job ask a poor person to hire you and see how far you get.

  • Tim Layman

It amazes me that, ever since the democrats took control of congress, the republicans have been screaming that they have a better plan, and they know how to fix all of our problems. If I remember correctly, the republicans controlled both houses of congress and the white house for six long years during the Bush/Cheney regime. So, if the repubs have all of the answers, why didn’t they fix health care on their watch? Why didn’t they curb Wall Street greed before it brought the country to it’s knees? The republican “Pledge to America,” is nothing more than a rehash of the failed Gingrich “Contract on America.” The only plan the republicans have is to say NO to everything the dems propose. The republican plan is the same now as it always was: Protect the wealthy people at all cost and the poor and middle class be damned!

“The only plan the republicans have is to say NO to everything the dems propose.”

Well they say NO because everything the dims shove down our throats is bad, very bad for this country. The Pledge to America may be the same as the Gingrich Contract for America, but anything is better than more government, more taxes and more socialism. None of which has ever made a country great, let alone better.

      • HFlashman

I dunno…seems when i go into meetings, if someone says ‘no’ … they usually have an alternative to consider. Unless they want to just be obstructionist without offering anything of value…then they’re usually gone as a waste of space.

So…what alternative has the GOP offered up to anything they’ve opposed? Not even on the airwaves have they offered anything…except lies…

      • Harold Olsen

I hate to agree with an idiot like Flashman but he’s right. The Republicans have been saying no to everything the Democrats do, and I’m fine with that, but, like Flashman says, they don’t come up with alternative plans. They say they have them but they don’t say what they are. If they are going to say no they should say it louder and then tell us what their alternative plans are. Not that the Democrats will listen or even care, but at least they can show they actually have a plan. It’s why I am so skeptical about any real change happening if the Republicans gain the majority. I suspect “business as usual” will continue.

      • Bob Wire

Correct! the GOP is saying “NO!” even to their own proposals if the DNC agrees and offers to use them.

    • Anthony

Come on, Timmy …. 6 years versus over 40 years straight , by the DEMS.. is apples and oranges. In 1.5 terms of Office (POTUS) you do not overturn what was built in 40+ years by the other Party.

Let’s use a little spock-logic when we put a string of thoughts together.. shall we? Especially about how a Country is governed.

This PLEDGE.. is nothing more than a re-emergence of the Newt Gingrich – Contract for America. It’s the LITE version. Mitch McConnell has no intention of doing anything other than filling his own piggy bank as a means to avoid the coming desicration of America and the burning of our Constitution. He’s one of thhe weakest Republican Leaders since before Gingrich showed up. Prior to that – you had DEMs like JIM WRIGHT – who were famnous for this sort of nonsense —>

Scandal not ballots brought House Speaker Jim Wright to ground in 1989 after a 279-page House Ethics Committee report found that Wright had violated House rules 116 times. Most notable among the charges involved Wright’s self-published paperback Reflections of a Public Man and his flagrant use of it to circumvent rules limiting honoraria. Organizations purchasing bulk amounts of this slim volume and thus funneling money to Wright included the National Association of Realtors, Ocean Spray, the Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association, and the Fertilizer Institute. Wright resigned as Speaker in May 1989. A month later he resigned from the House itself.

That book deal consisted of one word type on each page, for chapter after chapter. And, the article is correct in stating UNIONS bought pallet after pallet of the books and kept them hidden in UNION Office basements where supposedly no one would find them. Gingrich lambasted WRIGHT and reminded all of America what they were being cheated out of.

One can say the Repubs don’t have much room to talk, and I would agree to a certain extent.

Yet – when you actually go investigate on your own – you find that no matter how tragic the corruption from the Republican Party… it’s 10-20 times worse in the DEM party.. and there is no excusing any Voter for supporting such crap-ola. At least a SMART voter woudl prefer the LESSER of the two evils… NOT the greater.

        Anthony…You’re right on all counts………
40 years of democrat control has brought disaster to this country and the 6 years of control by the republicans didn’t do enough to reverse the pervert Democrat agenda but yet they only had 6 years to undo the damage caused by the left…
As for voting for the lesser of two evils, you’re right we have and had corruption within our government for decades but the democrats OWN the patent on this subject.

      • 45caliber

For many years there was a change in government every couple of elections. The FIRST thing the party in power would do would be to throw out all the bad things the other party had voted in.

I expected the GOP to do that right after they got into power this last time. But 40 years of Dem pork against nearly zero GOP pork got to them. The GOP instead passed a huge pork bill that included all the stuff that the Dems had been shooting down to try to catch up. Then they spent the rest of the time trying to control the damage.

What we NEED is a new majority that will get rid of all the bad stuff instead of ignoring it to vote in more bad stuff.

    • Mick

      Tim.

The republicans have bowed to the Democrat agenda for decades that’s exactly when things went wrong, not only didn’t they say NO enough they compromised their moral values in the process..
America need representatives that will reverse the democrat agenda that brought a total Moral decay in our country, the sense of right and wrong has been erased from the society hand book.
We need to return to the basic values that made America so great, Americans need to realize that money doesn’t grow on trees and the democrat ideology need to be extinguished for ever, only then can America regain its status…

      • Bob

As I remember it there was talk about Wall Street and then the war came up and it was shelved. Actually we have one of the best health care systems world wide. What is messed up is too much government involvment and the insurance scam.

  • Robin from Arcadia, IN

The pledge leaves a lot to be desired. It could have been more conservative. As far as the Dems cry that they are for ‘the working men and women’, that is crap. I grew up in a home where both parents were staunch democrats. My dad was a democrat because they were for the ‘little guy’. Not from where I see it are they ‘for the little guy’. Maybe once upon a time, but not now. Their policies and outlook is to benefit themselves and only themselves. I think if they continue to announce that they are the working man’s party, they will still be able to convince many. I am no longer a believer of their rhetoric….

    • 45caliber

Back when I was still in high school (the early ’60s) the Democrats controlled the South be being ‘for the little guy’. But then they discovered block voting by the minorities. But to buy those block votes they needed money – which they took from the little guys. The ‘little guy’ back then was mostly conservative and so were the Dems. But buying blocks of votes depended upon changing the way the government did business – which is the mark of the liberal. Today the South is still conservative – but votes primarily GOP because the Dems party moved away from us. In the North among the unions is the ONLY place the Dems still are considered to represent the little guy – and only because the Dems still pay off to the union officials for calling in the vote.

      • slickporsche

Yes and the unions need to go the same as the DEM if we ever want to get out of this finacial mess and have manufacturing back in the Good Ole USA. The Unions are nothing but a damn boat anchor.

      • 45caliber

I always pictured them as a train engine trying to go the opposite direction than the train.

      • Bob Wire

when and where has recent union activity affected national events in a negative fashion? Unless you are thinking of the 1st chair position and the general election. I personally know of none in my area, maybe it’s different where you live.

So special interest is okay unless it’s organized labor? and then it not okay?

I never enjoyed unions much myself ~ I couldn’t move up regardless for all the old farts standing in the way. ~ So I out produced them and screwed up both labor and management little play house. ~ They sent in people with stop watches and white lab coats to observe and I’d back off and leave they confused.

But I was young and foolish then. Having no interest in getting along and full of myself.

Unions have a place and a purpose and like anything else, subject to abuse and limitation.

      • Wayne

I think you are right 45caliber. Instead of voting for the betterment of the country, they are only voting to get reelected back to their seats of doing nothing…like reading the health care bill. What a bummer. Nancy Pelosi, the wicked witch of the West says, we will find out what in the bill when it is passed. What a dumb stupid statement for the Speaker of the House to say. Voting for these idiots, Pelosi, Reid and Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and a lot of other Democrats is being senile.

      • 45caliber

The senile voting for the senile.

    By George
    Looking at the Pledge
I recognize that the GOP’s “Pledge to America” is an effort to answer Democrat challenges which constantly shriek that the Republican’s have offered no ideas when, of course, quite the opposite is true. Hundreds of conservative, constitutional resolutions have been offered by Republicans only to be ignored by the Progressive leadership in the Congress. Unhappily, Republican politicians up there still haven’t realized that in dealing with Progressives (Democrats) they are dealing with a new breed of left (Commie) politicians whose skills have been cut from the same fabric from which Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung, were cut, i.e.: brutal, give no quarter, close combat political infighters who do not intend to lose.
The Pledge is under extreme scrutiny by the toady leftist media as a collection of quaint and interesting homilies, a return, in fact, to the “failed policies” of the evil Bush, policies not suited to the Progressive programs that the American people, they say, really want. But, as almost no one who can read and write any longer consults the former main stream media, or can trust them as their news source, their opinion has zero relevance to our own decision making. Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, this week did about as creditable a job as could be expected in examining what was in and what was not in the Pledge when he interviewed Republican House minority leader, John Boehner and Republican Representative Kevin McCarthy. It was made clear that the ‘Pledge” was not the Republican Party’s platform but rather a specific agenda of corrective legislation that could be taken up immediately. Some conservative pundits have taken issue with the Pledge as not being hard enough in stating the Conservative position. I think, however, that it meets it intended purpose. For Progressives to attack the contents of the pledge is to open their own failed policies to much needed debate.
Unhappily, the Republican Party is still saddled with RINO’s. John McCain comes to mind. We tend to believe our own Senators or Representatives are doing just fine but that other guy is a bastard who is bringing the party down. Well, you can talk to your dog and pet him to death all you want to make him quit biting you, but he won’t stop; but a good thrashing will give immediate results that last. If that don’t work there are other remedial actions that will solve the problem permanently.
The Pledge is a good start and gives us something to work with. But now, we, as conservatives, should focus on the one issue that matters most and not let it slide under the radar where it is out of site and forgotten. That primary issue is Obamacare. We can win on Obamacare. We need to hold our politicians absolutely accountable, especially those who have done and are doing nothing to undo it. They cannot be allowed to get a free pass on this issue. We must press on the new congress, hopefully Republican, to do whatever they can to defund and then totally repeal Obamacare. They must be reminded that they work for us, the People.
The Democrat (Progressive) Party is losing any mandate they thought they once had to move America in a socialist direction. The rising fury of Americans melding into grass root groups like the TEA Party, stands as a harbinger of the massive changes to come. Conservatives, when we return to power, must pledge to America that we will follow the Constitution. Freedom is the goal and the Constitution is the path. Go get ‘em! (27 Sept 2010)

    • Bob

George If the Republicans had done what they said they would in 1994 they would still be in power. Same crap different year. Time to vote 3rd party. We have to start somewhere.

      • Patriot

A 3rd Party is an impossible choice; the conservative/TEA Party movement needs to take over the Republican Party. This Pledge is a start, whoever does not stand by this pledge needs to be systematically removed! I believe the establishment is very nervous, the TEA Party is not another political party it is an idea, similar to the principles that have made this country great! Stay the course this is only the beginning, this not be finished in our lifetimes, but let the work begin!

      • 45caliber

        Patriot:

I agree with you. And BOTH parties are worried about it.

      • JoJo

Excellant post. We are beginning to see the end of politics as usual It will take somr time to be really effective but the politicians will start to listen to the people or they will go home.

      • Bob Wire

don’t react so quickly Jo Jo !

      • Harold Olsen

I’m not exactly voting 3rd party in the November election but I won’t be voting for either the Democrat or Republican candidates for Senate here in Washington State. Look at the choices I have. The Democrat, Patty Murray, was rated the most stupid member of the Senate and has marched in lockstep with Obama every step of the way. Then, the Republican, Dino (I’m not a politician I’m a businessman) Rossi refuses to sign the “Sanctity of Life Pledge” though he claims to be a Catholic who opposes abortion; won’t sign the pledge not to raise taxes or the pledge to cut wasteful spending. Why? He says he will not let ANYONE tell him what to do and I interpret that as meaning US, the people whom he works for. He will be just another politician who ignores the will of the people. I think he won’t sign those pledges because he knows he won’t keep them and it will be used against him when he runs for re-election. Also, it will give him an excuse to vote with the left. I’ll be voting for Clark Didier the Republican who lost the primary election who happens to be the candidate supported by the TEA Party. He won’t win but I won’t waste my vote by voting for someone whom I do not believe in.

      • Bob Wire

“The Democrat, Patty Murray, was rated the most stupid member of the Senate and has marched in lockstep with Obama every step of the way.”

since I don’t know who voted her the most “stupid” and she supports rank & file ~as you offer us , she is the best choice of the three.

Does rank & file support offend you? For if it does ~ you don’t have a candidate to consider Harold.

    • 45caliber

To us voters, working together in Congress means that both sides should sit down and work out a bill that actually is useful to the country.

To the politicians, working together means “you vote for my stupid bill and I’ll vote for yours.”

Since the Dems presently have the majority in Congress, they don’t need to trade votes with the GOP. Their only comment means, “You need to vote for our stupid bill – but we don’t need to trade votes if you don’t.”

      • Harold Olsen

You’re partly right. The Democrats always complain that the Republicans refuse to compromise. Well, their definition of compromise is either do things our way or shut the f*** up.

      • Bob Wire

so are you attempting to tell us ~ the GOP hasn’t taken advantage of their numbers over the course of the last 30 years?

Is that what you are telling us?

    • http://GOGGLE vaksal

BY GEORGE,i totaly agree with you, direct and to the point.

      • Bob Wire

I don’t agree ~ as many aspects of the HCR bill were originally brought forward from the GOP camp itself, willing to claim it until it went out of “Vogue”

Just more GOP flip flopping. ~ Much like McCain’s recent statements stating he never considered himself a “Maverick” ~~ ??????? dua?

For a party that claims to be founded in strong idealism and conviction, they seem most willing to drop them in a heart beat for political expedience, willing to abandon them for “the new flavor of the day”.

~ I’m certain not all GOP politicians are that way ~ but I haven’t seen or heard of one lately.

  • David

Special interests??!! Are you kidding me? The only reason dems passed the health care reform bill is to add another 30 million voters to their side to tip the scales in their favor forever.

The only problem with your mentality is that we will stand here and let it happen. Your sytems will not work? Try working in the real world for a while and see for yourself.

What the repubs have suggested is a start in the direction towards smaller gov. If they do not do what they say they will then they will be replaced with conservatives that will. This country belongs to the working folks not you elite dems.

    • Doc Sarvis

Since when has either side (Democrats OR Republicans) actually done anything toward smaller government. The Republicans often talk about it but I can’t recall anything they have actually done toward that end.

      • 45caliber

Sad but true. You are right.

      • JeffH

  • THINK ABOUT

Now repealing NAFTA is a good beginning, get the American jobs back in the USA and stop giving to the companies which have moved and are still moving jobs from our shores to other countries. Just what job market are we trying to take care of, at least make it jobs paying salaries to Americans who purchase services and products in the USA. Continuing the same failied policies or “pledge” that got us into this mess sure is not the answer. As far as those wanting to fault either the Republican or Democrat party for all the wrong doing, just where is your plan. Yelling and screaming about “they are going to take our guns away” and other positions which have entirely no truthful basis is never going to put the train back on the track in the USA. Better spend your time creating solutions and not whine about unimportant things when trying to clean up the mess the USA finds itself in. Present your plan to help, don’t whine.

    • 45caliber

      Think:

      You want to appeal NAFTA???

That is Clinton’s pride and joy! How can you say such a thing??

Actually, I don’t think it should ever have been passed in the first place. The only reason it did was because the heads of both parties were getting a lot of money to see it did pass.

But we are still concerned about keeping our guns, regardless. Without them, there is nothing to prevent the two parties in power from simply merging and becoming the new communist party.

      • http://GOGGLE vaksal

TO:45caliber,what “think” doesnt get is that thinking that gun rights arent important is like saying the 2nd admendment of the UNITED SATES CONSTITUTION has no importance,i far as history shows that men and women that surrender their rights to defend themselfs from those who would steal their libertys as in the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS,are nothing but disarmed slaves,to be abused by those who think they are the law,by the way without guns how can the lawless thugs, that have more rights and public defenders than the hair on top of the head of a gorilla, while we are expected to disarm,to make it so this nation can be destroyed by the lawless cabal in government,i vote to keep my right to bear arms, and say to those who dont, who will save you, when you cant save yourself, maybe your second finger, point and say bang,i am sure that the person that victimizing you will get more protection under the law then your lifeless body,i rest my case,p.s. look at conn, where a doctors family was butchered by two scumbags,45 caliber keep up the good work,a friend in liberty, vaksal.

    • alpha-lemming

What is the incentive for moving jobs off-shore? The progressive answer is “greed”… the capitalist answer is the same but it’s called “profit margin”. The engine to stifle greed (profit)??? regulation. Do you want jobs (to justify a hire… greed dictates net must exceed expendatures) or do you want to get even (make greed illegal… all jobs should be zero/negative profit guaranteed government social justice programs)? To arrive at an answer, greed MUST figure into the calculation. You want jobs to come back to the USA??? Deregulation MUST be a major component so the check-writers can be greedy here. You want to get even??? You’ve got your wish now…. just no job… thus preventing you your Constitutional right to be greedy.

    • http://GOGGLE vaksal

YOU THINK about it,whineing is just like a child in the corner, waiting to be fed, since when is it whineing to state facts, besides a lot of americans are fed up with this program of turning this nation into a international whore house and by the way i am sure a lot of good people will use their power at the ballot box this year and i will be one of them,so please dont whine too much as the imposter said its time for change, but not the way the left wing global communist neo-coms want america has woken up and the heads will roll for all this failure of the masters of the universe bunch,i am an old guy,but i never voted to be shut up by a bunch of low life self serving public employees and their trolls period.think about it,and you whine.

P.S. heres an idea,REPEAL (NAFTA) for a start, abolish the federal reserve, set up panels to reveiw every request from lobbyist, pass a national law, making it a federal crime to buy any elected public employees vote, rebulid americas industrial base with various laws that chained american bussiness to government regulations, thousands of them, enforce the law of this republic,THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS,SEAL ALL OUR NATIONAL BORDERS,with military units, national guard units, under the control of the governors, protect the rights of all american citizens here and abroad at all cost, respect all those who you govern, and quite being so arrogant about the job the american voters has entrusted you with.if you do just these things the american voters will shower you with their support,by trying to do the right thing, they will listen and you will be the heroic elected men and women that saved this republic, the choice is yours RNC but be honerable with your choices, for the democrats are nothing but left wing bolshevics in sheeps clothing and with this UN faisco have left themselfs wide open to being defeated this year soundly, but you must not betray the american voters ever again, just some advice from one of the old guys that one day soon, will be part of history,a baby boomer.good luck this year RNC.

Accusing others of that which they ARE DOING… has been a standard protocol for the DEMs since I watched LBJ pretend he had nothng to do with JFK’s assassination… Seriously – it’s gotten more than old.

AND… the cowards always just look at the bandwagon and grab on…

The BOTTOM LINE here, SC, is that this is nothing more than Distraction Television… the FED and the CFR and the TRILATERAL COMMISSION have NO stake in the (false) Left/Right Paradigm discussion. They could care less about the whole waste of time that it is.

ALL OF THE Politicians, cater to those who control the money – it’s THAT simple.

And, since Congress DOES NOT control the U.S. currency – they are fectless. Nothing more than puppets and stage actors, who certainly do a better job than Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford or anyone else in Hollywood.

‘Course, for them, the game is rigged whereas the paparazzi will follow so-called thespians around – it’s verboten to follow politicians around like that… photopgraphers could end up dead, like all those associated with JFK were….

Mr. Kaine, supreme airhead, dares to claim that ‘Republicans’ have corned the market when it comes to “using government to benefit special interests at the expense of the American people.” In other words, Mr. Kaine never looks at a mirror, and he has NO idea what absolute hypocrisy means.
Is Kaine so STUPID that he’s unaware what Herr Obummer is doing to America? Obummer couldn’t do his evil deeds without catering to special interests. No wonder conservatives have no use for people who are self-made RETARDS. No wonder Obummer and his fellow criminals are completely out-of-touch.

The graft, the corruption, the sweetheart deals, the wars for benefitting the oil giants at the expense of young American lives, the rippng up of our Rights, liberties and freedoms, the Middle Class being attacked and pushed under, the uber rich getting more wealth.

If the GOP were serious about Middle America…about us … would they stop tax relief to the Middle class so a few wealthy could continue to take advanatage of the system and add another $600 billion to the deficit? Would they kill legislation targeting small bsiness for tax relief, loan credits, grants….because mega corpations weren’t included in the definition of ‘small” ? Would they have begun the false hysteria over a ficticious “death clause” in the health care bill…using it only to forward the interests of the oligarchy of insurance companies? Would they have apologized to BP for the anger and investigations of BP’s killing the Gulf economy? Would they have opposed any energy bill that did’t favor Big Oil? Would they have oppsed financial reform unless it gave the Big Banks what they wanted?

Yeah..the GOP…promising nothing but enslavement. And y’all are going to vote for that…

The ‘Pledge’ is pathetic and an illusion, as described by Erick Erickson of Redstate.com. So it’s not only Dems who see it as the joke it is.

This meaningless mantra of ‘smaller gov’t’ that is everywhere in the jargon of the so called ‘conservatives’ and tea party people is also a joke. Smaller? Smaller than what? Smaller than Bush’s gov’t that doubled the debt in 8 yrs? Smaller than the gov’t of Haiti? The ‘pledge’ makes no mention of actual gov’t spending it would cut, and so is hollow. It and most here also ignore that we have the lowest fed taxes in memory, and that’s partly why we are running deficits every year, even befor the crash.

The ‘Pledge’ should read, “protect the wealthiest among us, protect corporations from gov’t regulations, increase the gap between the rich and middle class and poor, and never fail to go to war at the drop of a hat.”

      • Jeep

So? Obama’s promises are pathetic and an illusion too. Again, so?

      • Robert Smith

Obama would be getting much more done if it weren’t for the Repugs and the party of “NO”.

        Rob

      • Denniso

When 9/11 happened under a Republican prez and congress, the Dems rallied around the flag, so to speak. The great recession has negative impact on more people, the whole country, except for the rich, and the Repubs do all they can to throw wrenches into the various plans to save and restart the economy. If there was a rallying around the economic problem, it might very well be fixed by now.

The Repubs decided even before Obama was in office that their best chance to regain power was to block and obstruct him even if it means
wrecking the economy and country. Self serving hypocrites…don’t reward them for their destructive ways.

      • http://MSA Kirby

maybe Bush did double the debt in 8 years, Obummer tripled it in 6 months

      • Granny Mae

        Denniso

You dems have had the majority since Obama took office so what is your problem? The majority rules! Remember ?

      • Denniso

Kirby, no, Obama hasn’t trippled the national debt…you’re confused.
The yearly deficit has gone up to about 1.5 trillion, from about .5 trillion under Bush. The total debt has increased by about 1/3rd in the past 2 yrs, not trippled. If Obama and Bush both hadn’t spent money to stabilize the economy,we would probably be in a full depression right now. Have you noticed the stock market is approaching
it’s previous level? Monthly job growth is occuring, just not enough to account for the new job seekers every month.

      • Wayne

That’s right, Hflashman. Let’s do turn back the clock to when this country was the greatest country on earth due to peoples honestly, hard work and work ethic before the government started taking over our lives. Answer this, if this was not the greatest country on earth why do so many people want to come here? Under the free market system (Capitalist) since the last 100 years or so, look at what this young country has done. We invented the airplane that you fly in, we have mass produced the automobiles in this country that you most likely own, or use and many, many other things to numerous to mention. Under this administrations ideology this could never have happened. Compare the United States with the Communist, or Socialist countries over the same time period and see what they have done. People like you complain all the time, but you continue to stay in this country and enjoy the fruits of it’s labor. If I hated this country as much as you, and some of your liberal friends, I would leave and never come back. If you continue to stay here, quite your whinning, and read the Constitution. It just might enlighten you.

      • HFlashman

Wayne…most of the beginning of your diatribe I agree with. the Decline is easy to spot…look at the data. 1981. From there, with the exception of a short 6 year span (Clinton’s last 6 years), it has been steady as the Middle Class was under attack.

Last i heard, US auto’s are still being made by US Companies because of this administration…the GOP would have killed it off putting hundreds of thousands on the streets. As well as the remainder of your rants. Under the GOP…Federal powers have increased, state powers decreaeed, taxes overall have goe up, deficits have skyrocketed, and we are weakened economically, militarily, and emotionally.

And you say this administration is bad…when the Conservatives have screwed it up so badly the past 30 years?

As for the Constitution…unlike you, I have more than a 7th grade mentality when it comes to understanding that document and hat it stands for. Though having that 7th grade outlook does allow you a good rant…even though is nonsense.

      • slickporsche

You are dead wrong about the GOP, they would have done the same thing with the auto industry, but I cannot say about Wall Street and the banking, but I do know when the Republicans are in control we enjoy better times and less unempoyment. I can remember back a long way. THe liberal way will not, can not, never has, and never will work.History has proven that. You liberals are not going to be able to do much more damage to this country, and I know you can see the handwriting is on the wall. Good BY!

      • barbm

as far as auto companies, those people need to be out of work for a while to see how the rest of us live. unions are to blame for the ridiculous wages these people who have no college are making. they’re also to blame for the companies failing. they could move those plants to texas, a right to work state, with no jobs lost. workers could move here or they could hire texans to build american cars. as long as people are working, jobs are not lost, just moved around. and just how many of you folks on here own american cars? not many, i bet. i believe you should dance with the one who took you to the ball. BUY AMERICAN!!

      • CJ

You claim to have more than a 7th grade mentality, but you haven’t shown us anywhere you’ve used it. You argue untruths, and point at statistics that are the result of acts put in place by liberals. If you use the mentality you claim to have, you would know it takes time for policies to have an effect. Even in economics, there is the short run, and the long run, the long run being the better indicator. Economies adjust to policies, and the bad results of a bad policy takes years to become evident. Dems put most of the distructive policies in place, Republicans tryed to make them work, but you can’t fix a bad policy except to replace it. And you liberals are so loving of your handouts from the government, you can’t see they are the exact problem that keeps us enslaved.

      • 45caliber

        flash:

The last I heard the ONLY American made car was made by Toyota. The US companies have everything except final assembly made elsewhere and then claim it is American made because they drop the body on the frame and put in enough screws to hold it together.

Incidently, how many cars do you know that uses only American bolts and threads? I don’t know of any. All are metric – which means they were made overseas.

      • http://ahalbert@smart-technology.net Allan Halbert

You’re wrong. It’s not the performance of Republicans over those decades that has created today’s situation. Granted, Repubs have made many mistakes.

====>It is the liberal’s insatiable desire for entitlements that is doing the most damage to the middle class. Witness the financial disaster many states and the fed are facing. The Constitution gave us rights to everything we are willing to earn, not everything we are willing to want.

      • Wayne

Hflashman, where are you going to find a poor man that can hire you. How much can that poor man afford to pay you? Now come on, you think you are so smart, figure that one out, and please come back and let us know. I really do believe you are a lost cause. Sorry to have to say that.

      • Wayne

One more thing Hflashman, Clinton had a Republican Party in power to help him out by giving him assistance in his administration. How about that? They brought him back to the center from the far left. Obama does not have that help from the Republicans since he only listens to the Democrats who are in power now. Just wait until November and hopefully the Republicans will have the power again and will be able to give Obama some assistance.

      • http://MSA Kirby

Are you saying the constitution is a bunch of NONSENSE. come on, Obummer and the demo congress doesn’t believe in the constitution they threw it under a rug like a pile of dirt.

      • pgmjr

45 Caliber…spoken like a true lugnut…Corvette has been a success story for General Motors since 1953…Long before it became Government Motors…Do you always make-up facts to suite your personal beliefs??

      • JC

The “fact” the GMC might as well stand for Government Motors Corp. in not diminished by GM’s history. That history was washed away with a stroke of a Government pen. Now it’s just another subsidized Government enterprise. Boycott GM until it is once again privately owned or has new owners.

      • 45caliber

        pgmjr:

The last thing I heard about Corvette was that the motor and much of the rest of it was now made in other countries. It was definately a success for GM and they made it originally. But, as I said, NONE of their cars are made entirely in the US. Most of it is made overseas and shipped in. The ‘factory’ barely has to put two parts together so they can call it a “Amercian made” car. Many other companies do the same thing with other items.

      • dan az

        dick
45 is correct when saying that the engines are put together in mexico I know this as a fact I have bought two of them!

      • Granny Mae

Thank you!! I am amazed at some of the comments I’m sseing on this
blog. Do they really think that Obama has helped this country?? Everything he does has the direct result of breaking down the democracy and the freedom we enjoy. He is currently tying the hands of the military in Afganistan and doesn’t even mention the word Victory with regard to the war. He insists on pulling our troops out in July 2011 regardless of how the effort is going. If you’re going to commit to a war then COMMIT. Be all there and stay until the jobh is done. How about the Obamacare that was passed against the majority of the American people, or the fact that he’s suing Arizona instead of backing them up in their effort to control the immigration problem. He is not for this country, he is a mole who’s only adjenda
is to break down this counrty so that he can have greater control in the end. He has spent more money than all other presidents combined in the short time he’s been in office. He’s a joke and I’m looking forward to the day that he’s removed from office. Hopefully by way of immpeachment as soon as possible!

      • Brad

        Flash in the pan,

Look what Obama and company have given us so far, more deficit spending than any US President in history, social programs designed to enslave our country. Programs, regulations all designed to bleed the US economy, unemployment at 9.6% (15% actual) nationaly, unions corrupting their people and politicians, and socialists and homosexuals in positions that directly affect every single American. I’m looking at the big picture, the stimulus money that gave thousands a job expires Thursday, thousands more on the unemployment list. Taxes, congress is doing nothing, then after the mid-term election they’ll try to pass something that will fail and on Jan 01, 11 all of us will see drastic increases in our taxes and this is what you want for our country. You want to see this country brought down to it’s knees financialy, you want us to fail, well this kid want’s this country to win because this republic was built on freedoms granted to us by God and no other. God Bless America

      • DavidL

        Hey Brad,
A bit over the top this morning, don’t you think?

Here is a bit of economic analysis for you on the Republican Pledge to America.Once again, the Republicans prove that they are incompetent and do not have our interests at heart.

      • Warrior

Flashy, you must be getting really excited about the BIG Rallies coming up in October, you know the ones with Jon Stewart and all your little communist buddies that plan on attending. Are you a member of the Young Communist League yourself or SEIU?

      • Jeep

Aren’t they one and the same?

      • Bluebonnet

That’s right….turn back the clock! Stop this senseless waste and spending. Those who keep pitting the rich against the poor have no real concept of anything, particularly the opportunity for individuals to earn and keep the fruits of their own labor without theft from the government. Theft is not a good approach to anything. It’s a good thing to want to work and become an achiever in life. The Republican pledge is a start in the right direction. Repealing this monstrosity of a health care bill is certainly a good first step. The health care bill is still being written and we still don’t know what’s in it or what will be in it. Much of it is left to interpretation…..by whom? It has not been appropriately debated, questioned, or well-thought out, except from a communist point of view and from a secretive position. We have no idea who even wrote this bill or parts thereof. It seems from left brained people. The Democrats just came out and threw it at us. It is a huge fraud against the people sold as FREE health care or health care for all. Just a lie! Get it repealed and take “proper” steps to reform health care to keep decisions between doctor and patient, not some clerk in an office without windows. Get real! And cut with the crap about blaming others. That’s a cop out. Deal with the here and now and move forward in the right direction. We should all be able to work together on taking back this country from the Marxist minds of yesterday.

      • 45caliber

The Dems constantly argue that we should “tax the rich”. But the Dems have as many or more millionares than the GOP does! Do they plan to tax themselves? Or do they plan to do as many of Oblama’s appointees did … simply ignore paying it?

      • Christin

        45caliber,

        Agreed.

I would NOT consider $200,000 to $250,000 to be RICH as the WH & congress wants you to think… they are just well to do or doing well. BO & congress are using this amount of income to CAP what we all should be making and conditioning everyone to think that is a lot WHEN IN REALITY WHAT “THEY ARE MAKING” IS A WHOLE FREAKING LOT!

I would consider millionaires which includes most of the old Congress farts who are milking-the-system and stealing from your pockets to be RICH maybe better stated as WEALTHY. If DEMs refuse to keep the Bush Tax cuts in 2011, which it appears they want to do by their unwillingness to put it to a vote in congress RIGHT NOW, taxes on the RICH SHOULD APPLY TO THEIR (WH & congress’) BULGING WALLETS.

      • zarquiekia

        I agree with you 45caliber.

      • Granny Mae

        45caliber

Very excellent post and to the point exactly.

      • DavidL

Once again, the Republicans in Congress prove they are incompetent. There is no way I’m going to vote in November for a Republican. As they say, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” Here is an economic analysis of their Pledge to America:

        http://www.peoplesworld.org/republican-pledge-kill-jobs-give-money-to-rich/

      • CJ

This is a BS analysis, and makes false predictions that have NO basis in true economics.

      • DavidL

More FactCheck on Republican lies and incompetence:

The Republican “Pledge to America,” released Sept. 23, contains some dubious factual claims:

        * It declares that “the only parts of the economy expanding are government and our national debt.” Not true. So far this year government employment has declined slightly, while private sector employment has increased by 763,000 jobs.
        * It says that “jobless claims continue to soar,” when in fact they are down eight percent from their worst levels.
        * It repeats a bogus assertion that the Internal Revenue Service may need to expand by 16,500 positions, an inflated estimate based on false assumptions and guesswork.
        * It claims the stimulus bill is costing $1 trillion, considerably more than the $814 billion, 10-year price tag currently estimated by nonpartisan congressional budget experts.
        * It says Obama’s tax proposals would raise taxes on “roughly half the small business income in America,” an exaggeration. Much of the income the GOP is counting actually comes from big businesses making over $50 million a year.

      • Granny Mae

        David L,

FactCheck has affiliations with Obama so don’t expect unbiased answers from them !

      • 45caliber

        Flash:

“turning us back to slaves” huh?

Take a look at American history sometime. The Dems were in favor of slavery and the GOP was against it prior to the Civil War. If we go back in time, as you suggest, I guess that the Dems would still be in favor of slavery, right?

      • CJ

If you look even closer to the history, the only reason blacks switched to the Dems was they were “bought” by being offered money to vote multiple times. One Dem would pay the poll tax for thousands, register false names, then pick up various people, bus them around and tell them how to vote. It’s right there in the history books.

      • 45caliber

Where do you think ACORN got the idea??

      • Christin

        CJ,
I just found out in neighboring Houston (That’s liar Dem Sheila Lee-Jackson’s district) that they found 25,000 people had voted in 2008 that had the same addresses used up to six times and some addresses were to empty lots or unlived in houses. After further investigation (not by liberals obviously) they found only 1,000 of those 25,000 votes were made by “real” registered persons. The FBI was called in and started to look into the “voter fraud” when the building holding the 2008 voting machines burned down… imagine that. Bye, bye evidence.

I say that confirms that MULTIPLE FALSE VOTES were made to the obama/biden 2008 election. Bet those two Marxists would NOT have WON without CHEATING and STEALING all those VOTES across America… because if it happened here, then it happened in your neighborhood, too.

      • Granny Mae

        Christin,

You got that right ! This was the most corrupt election ever. From the bogus birth certificate to the questionable campaign funds to the voting. Now looking back on all that, can you imagine what we have to contend with in the next two elections?

      • guyb

A pledge huh,Well my guess is any pledge is better than completely breaking all of your campaign promises all together…. Lets see, I promise c-span so all of America can see who is working for the people and who is not..Lets pass this 787 billion dollar stimulus bill and we will create jobs. Hurry pelosi, cut the water to 50,000 farms and farm workers in northern calif and you can still have all the water you need for your million dollar vineyards,(we can blame Bush)or delta smelt might go extinct, don’t tell anyone we can raise millions of little delta fish like we do trout etc.We need to do this to keep the American people down. How else can we get socialism started in full force?Whatever you do don’t let them audit the spent stimulus money or the American people will find out how much is missing. Remember, this is your dnc theives and we need to vote them out. A vote for the dnc is a vote for socialism.

      • Granny Mae

        guyb

        good post. I’m with you.

      • http://charter howe

There are many people like Hflashman who think the GOP will be worse than the unholy trinity of Obama, Pelosi and Reid and that is amazing. If your life is morallly bankrupt then maybe you don’t care what happens to the Republic since you can’t seem to get a piece of the action. The trouble is that when freedom is gone because WE THE PEOPLE are not accountable and responsible, the freedoms never come back. The democrats promised hope and change and we got more of the same bull crap, except its on steroids now. After almost two years we have three times as much debt as Bush left behind and with a democratic majority in both the House and the Senate the only legislation that got priority attention last year was the failed stimulus and the job killing, budget busting, massively unpopular OBAMACARE plan that must be repealed before 28 other states go broke like Calif and New York from medicaid increases that are forced upon everyone by Obamacare and the law which creates the govt office that will oversea medicaid. Joblessness and the constant spending bills to prop up teachers jobs and extend the 99 weeks of unemployment at taxpayer xpense is nice for specific individuals but since the country is broke that is debt that is accumalating on our children. 30 million illegals are using American resources at an enormous rate and is the number 1 or 2 reason we are broke and moving into the debt crisis mode. I am reminded of a book called arguing with idiots and the bottom line is, until people get educated with the political landscape and ask the right questions and then react as a proactive voter the real arguments and compromises cannot be made because logic and reason are non-components of the socialist progressive liberal democratic agenda. Pelosi and Reid do not serve WE THE PEOPLE, they operate in a nanny vacuum because they think they can render judgements for the Americn people based on their ideology which is best for all of us. Ge your head out of your butt and do something for you country instead of denigrating others and whining about our political future when you have less than nothing to offer your fellow countrymen, which is exactly what the liberal democrats offer. You have fredom of speech but not freedom of stupidity even if it is only a moral wrong. If we could get rid of the ethics violators and crooks in the House we wouldn’t even need an election, but the real world says to have a better life we have to find common ground and work hard to reach our goals. I spent 29 years in the military and worked 50 years of my life to be able to enjoy retirement but maybe I will lose the social security I worked and paid into for 50 years. I will live on my military retired pay but being a vet with 60% disabilities may not allow me to be a wall mart greeter more than part time, but I accept the reality of the situation and I’m not going to use my war time skills or my pit bull attitude to wreck the country that I love and is the best country in the world. I dislike how Congress both sides have allowed this entitlement to become an extinct species through mismanagement like Pelosi using 2018 food stamps to fund todays unemployment applicants for more than 99 weeks through a 26.3 Billion mini-stimulus that was passed by democrats and one or two rino’s. If you have’nt found a job in two years you have decided not to move to a location for work or you don’t want to take a little less when offered and get more for sitting home then thats not fair to taxpayers and is a waste of time for these govt unemployment agencies trying to help people get employed. My point is this kind of spending has been killing the job market and our economy for a decade and with the takeover of the House and the Senate by the democrats in 2006 and 2007, nothing has changed except there has been accelerated spending and taxing the past two years and a I would like to add another disturbing piece of news and that President Obama and the Democratic majority have nationalized over 55% of our country under the control of the govt with over 40 CZARS all of which is not under the controll of Congress which defeats the idea of freedom and democracy and is why we vote for Congress people so we can have our voices heard. The President appears to be trying to take over the country. That is what a dictator would want to do, so why are you OK with that? In the military I fought against commies and I hope my countrymen won’t allow that to happen. You can never trust elected officials or govt because the percentages are high that they will be involved in some type of corruption large or small especially if they get tempted by special interests and lobbiest. Power absolutely corrupts, thats why our founding fathers created the Constitution and the declaration of independence and the rule of law. If the republicans do not live up to the pledge to America there is another election in 2012 and they can be voted out, but you must give them a chance to work us out of the situation that we are in. Our country hangs in the balance, we can have our war of words after we see if the Repubs are going to do something or just talk a good game.

      • slickporsche

I think we may need to get the republicans out also, but not until the Dems are gone. WE really need a government run by the constitution, and the people for the people. It appears they do everything against the constitution. Our government spends more money overseas than here and is more concerned about what goes on overseas than here. It is very shameful of them indeed. I can see a civil war coming if things do not improve after November. Sad to say, it is probably the only way things will return to a constitutional government. In my opinion, we need to arrest everydamn one of them and put them in the FEMA camps that are cropping up all over the damn place. We then install a new government. This is what I really want and am willing to fight for. Get rid of the career bandits.

Do you realize the Bush tax cuts during a time of war is exactly what is the biggest reason this country is so deeply in debt today? You do not cut your revenue at the same time you are increasing your spending. Simple math.

The USA under the Bush Administration cut taxes, the country’s revenue at the same time he increased this country’s spending. Those tax cuts should have been suspended as soon as we went to war. Never before in the history of the world has a country cut taxes while at war. It was insanity. What mad man would do such a thing, and at that time the GOP was in control of both the House and the Senate. They should have over ruled that decision in the best interest of the Nation. But no, they went along with this craziness, knowing full well this country would be forced into bankruptcy. Why? WHY? Pure lunacy.

Is this the same GOP you think will do a better job? Really? REALLY??

Carole, you are at least half right on this. I believe that this country should cut back on it’s spending and give away programs to foreign countries. Over the years we have even given our enemies money to squander. Russian being one of those countries, and many others as well. Of course our Congress waste a lot of money within our own country also. Regardless of what party takes over Congress, we have got to get our National Debt in order, or we are all going to pay through the nose as well as our children will have to some time in the future. This debt has been building for the last thirty or forty years and neither party has done anything about it. I agree, both parties are responsible for this economic mess were in. Any civilized, sane, person with commom sense realizes that you just can’t keep spending. If the conservative do take over Congress this November, and I hope they do, if they do their job, we will all have to relinquish some of the benefits that comes from the Federal Government. People are not going to like that, but that is the way it is going to have to be if we want to get out of debt. We have do that within our families, and we should expect the government to do the same.

        Wayne:

I saw a list of countries we gave money to a few years ago. Number 1 was India (we sent them tons of free food). Number 2 was Russia and Number 3 was Red China.

In fact, of the top ten, India was the ONLY country that wasn’t Communist! Of the top 25 countries, all of Europe was listed including England, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Israel was down about fifty, three spots BELOW Palestine.

There were only TWO countries in the world that we didn’t give at least $10 mil a year. Those were Monte Carlo and some 128 acre country between Spain and Portugal that has a single family that smuggles to live.

      • Wayne

45 caliber, thank you for that very good imput. I knew there were a lot of different countries we gave money too, not loaned, billions and billions of dollars. No wonder we are in such bad shape. It is also true that most wars were started under a Democratic Leadership. Now before you liberal start running you mouth at that statement, go back in history and see for yourself. The Republicans have had some unsavory charaters in Congress, but there seems to be more Democrats than Republicans that are bad. I’ll take the Republicans any time over the Democrats. Conservative Republicans would be the best pick.

I found this on another site that I thought might pertain to what others owe.
China, however, refuses to recognize the debt its current government inherited when the communists took control in 1949, the congressman wrote. That debt includes about $260 billion on bonds issued by the former Republic of China. Of that, nearly $100 billion is owed to thousands of Americans from bonds on which the People’s Republic of China has defaulted, the congressman wrote.

        dan az:

That doesn’t surprise me. I’m seriously wondering if the US will decide to do as the USSR did; break up so it can declare all debts null and void. At least here in the SW we have a better chance than the NE will have if we do.

Hey,Why don’t we let Van Jones run the country????? Until we get people to run for office who love our country more then the amount of money they can steal,we will be in the same boat no matter which party wins.We already know obama and reid and pelosi can not be trusted so Its back to the drawing board. How about that birth certificate,I know they cost 17 dollars in calif so I will pay the money if obama can not spare a few dollars….

        Carole Howwel,

Did you know that the Bush tax cuts brought us out of the Clinton recession and in the long haul created 8 million new jobs, that’s until the bottom fell. With the lowered taxes job creation was ramping up, more Americans were paying taxes, states and the federal government saw huge increases in tax revenue. With the fall in employment saw a decrease in tax revenue, states and the federal; government received reduced tax receipts causing states and the federal government to run deficits. Most states are still in the red to include the federal government to the tune of 3.4 trillion just for the Obama administration in less than two years being in office. The Bush administration brought the federal budgit down every single year, fact check it at the CBO website, it wasn’t until 07 when the “rats” had control of both houses of congress that the deficit spending truely ramped way up.

Right now we need to put common sence politicians into the congress, I’m tired of the tax and spend politicians, we need to get back to our roots, The Constitution of The United States of America.

Thanks for the facts but I dont think they care its not what they want its not out of their play book!

      • Patriot

Please get your facts straight, the reason we have these huge deficits is because of the housing market collapse by Fannie & Freddie, at this point nobody has done anything to clean up that mess. Which was by and large ignored by the Democrat led congress in 2006 and the fact the Obama over the course of less the 2 years has run more deficits then all administrations from Washington thru Bush W combined; yes combined! Does not take a genus to figure this out, do Bush & the Republicans have some to blame for this mess; Yes! We will start to clean these people out slow but sure in November; I suggest the left leaning people start to clean up your own mess up to help save this country. We need balance in this country so until the liberals or progressives start becoming more central or moderate then I will believe there are no moderate Democrats and we will clear the swamp of these low lives ourselves!

      • http://charter howe

Talking about getting facts straight, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were lending housing money that people could never pay back and it was a phenomena started in places like Chicage where commuunity organizers put pressure on banks to give minority people equal treatment for house loans. GEEZ community Organizers thats wher Obama served as a trainer and lawyer for years in the community organizer business, that where he got all that great experience to run the biggest industrial country in the world. The bad housing market began to accerate an already weak economy and since govt did not take action during Bushes second term and the democrats including Barney Franks who stated on national T.V. that Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae were just fine and there was no reason to regulate these people with laws in 2007. Fast forward 2010 Barney baby changed his mind and helped his bosom buddy Shumer to write financial regulations which recently passed and got lots of resistance by the GOP because Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae were not included and you say that they caused the depression to begin with, well guess what that ain’t fixed yet, but I bet the young guns will take care of that in 2011 when the smoke clears. Our zero balance money situation was caused by Fanny and Freddy and several other things all happening together like losing jobs overseas due to tax and unions, job killing OBAMACARE with yet more tax and rules that was passed by the democrats, the 787 billion failed stimulus which helped only pork spending, unions and ACORN funding and created less than 1000 jobs, the failure to secure the borders to stop illegals from adding to the massive amounts of resources these people are using which is costing taxpayers far more than what they pay in when they work and pay tax. Calif and New York are on the verge of bankruptcy due to joblessness and illegals among other lesser things. If the tax cuts are not renewed before 1 Jan 2011, the economy will lose ground fast because there will be more layoffs and more belt tightening by the public. The tax cuts for the rich is everyone making over 250,000 dollars. These people control hiring for 750,000 small business’s in the USA. They may pay the most tax but allowing the tax cuts to take place is a sure fire recipe for more job cuts and downsizing, not to mention some business people will leave the country and outsource their work, this could be trillions in annual production. The fools can’t see who the employers are that create the most jobs. Its not the 50% that do not pay tax its the 50% that does create jobs. The ideology on how to grow jobs is so foreign to democrats who have been passing laws to create an entitlement society, it has now begun to get down to the nut cutting. Business people are not going to use their capitol to pay more taxes and put up with more regulation because they have to use a balance sheet daily to show they can make a profit and they should not be penalized for being successful. Geez economics 101. A community organizer and a freak who says on national T.V. that you will have to read the bill after it is passed to see whats in it and a clown who wheels and deals behind closed doors in a fraudulent and unethical way to pass legislation guided is dooming our country to failre. Is this the America you want for your kids. I hope you are smarter than what your comments are stating. Do us all a favor and Vote these bums out in Nov 2010 and 2012. Its not a party thing anyore its what we have to do to keep our country from becoming another Cuba.

      • http://charter howe

A correction,, by allowing the tax cuts for the rich to expire will be devastating not revenue producing. In an earlier post I said allow to take place I meant allow to expire. Thanks

That is spot on I couldnt remember where I read that because I really wanted to put that fact out there in their face so to speak. Thanks for getting it out!Now if we could only teach them how to look up the true facts we might just make them disappear!

      • HFlashman

Otherm than being totally misguided and wrong in your facts, analysis and rantings…there’s not much truth or accuracy to your post Howe…not much at all.

BTW…if you knew anything about the lending industry, you would know that Cook County (Chicago) is not a high lending area due to restrictive prohibitions and borrower requirements … but then…don’t let truth and fact ruin a good rant…

        Carole:

I agree; it was wrong to cut taxes during a war. BUT … it is not the reason we are in debt today. That is primarily due to Oblama and his Dems spending more debt than all previous Presidents put together. And let’s get this straight – Congress spends the money. All the President does is request money and sign an approval when it is given him.

      • HFlashman

Hey 45…you do realize the 2009 deficit and budget was from Bush …right?

      • dan az

you do mean when the democraps where still in charge right?

        flash:

Really? I seem to remember Oblama’s 800+ billion package of pork projects called a “stimulus” bill and his Oblamacare package.

Are you trying to tell me that Bush was the one who put those in place?

      • Claire

Billions and billions of dollars for this war—and for what? It certainly helped get America in debt.

      • slickporsche

Yes we do really, really, and if they do not, they are also gone.

      • http://charter howe

Dear Carole, I hate to burst your fantasy bubble, but the war and the local economy are not co-considerations unless you are planning the annual defense budget or speculating about what can be funded to win a war. The Bush tax cuts were a tool to help small business people to keep employees on the payroll and maybe even hire some new people, when this happens people pay tax, they are less of a drag on entitlements that come with unemployment and the economy picks up because these employed indiduals buy houses and cars, and other things that create a successful free market boost. The economy needed a boost in 2001 and 2003 bcause we were losing too many jobs overseas to the Chinese, the country of India, the philippines and South America. For example the computer companies as you well know let foreignors handle servicing calls and there are millions of them employed at a few dollars a day as apposed to the 15 to 20 dollars a day that U.S. companies had to pay. Ford company moved an entire plant to Brazil where the employees do not have a union and work for 25 % of what they were getting in the U.S. under the AFL-CIO and SEIU unions. The exportation of jobs continues even under Obama’s watch because he is too busy spreading the wealth instead of creating situations to encourage employment. Talk to some small business people and they will tell you the high taxes and the health care bill that kicked in is forcing them to either drop insurance coverage for employees or pay the lower cost fines when they have a choice but they will cut jobs if there isn’t an alternative. Business people have to make a profit to maintain the motivation to conduct small business operations in such a way that they may want to expand and make more money. Obama has painted business’s as greedy and wanting to make too much money and I can’t understand why a person is bad because they want to obtain wealth through hard work and sacrifice. It is not the govt’s job to impede the free market system and interfere with business operations that create jobs unless there is an emergency situation serious enough to justify short term interference. A six month moratorium on Gulf oil wells is no an emergency and will cost the United States 84,000 jobs which will go overseas or go away because there are 33 drilling rigs that are closed down in the Gulf and they cost one million dollars a day to operate with or without oil drilling activity. Some of these jobs have gone to the African coast, others to the coast of the mediterranean countries and the British Isles and off the coast of Soutth America and they most likely won’t be back because the Obama administration has shown a propensity to do many things against oil companies to harm their business not the least of which is to extort money out of them to pay off future possible claims. Anyhow people like you vote for a false idea and that is how socialism and tragedy comes about through a rear door. Please get educated its a matter of life and death this year. If you have kids its important because they will either inherit the American dream or the classless socialist society where everyone has the same thing which is nothing.

If the GOP has their way we will be well on our way toward becoming Pakistan (a theocracy with crumbling infrastructure, lack of medical care and education for it’s citizens and huge disparity between an ultra-wealthy few and a poverty ridden majority).

    • Harold Olsen

No, Kaine’s not stupid. He just thinks we are. However, the elections in November will prove one way or the other if he is right about us. If we keep the Dems in power, well, there’s your answer.
