Conservatives to celebrate values summit, but not without controversyWith only weeks before the general elections, both parties are out in force appealing to their core voters. One highly anticipated event is set to take place later this month in Washington, D.C., and feature many prominent conservative leaders.

The fifth annual Values Voter Summit, organized by Family Research Council (FRC) Action, will start on Sept. 17. The three-day conference will include a presidential and vice-presidential straw poll, exhibit hall, book signings as well as new media row sponsored by Media Research Center.

Among the most prominent confirmed speakers scheduled are Governor Bob McDonnell (R-Va.), Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), Representative Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.)and possible 2012 GOP presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney. The event’s other sponsors are American Family Association, Heritage Foundation, American Values and Liberty University.

The most anticipated appearance will be that of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich who will talk about current political climate and assess the chance for GOP gains in November.

However, the event has come under fire because one of the attendees, Bryan Fischer, who is the director of issue analysis for government and public policy at the American Family Association, has compared Muslims to neo-Nazis.

On Nov. 2, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 37 of the 100 seats in the Senate are up for re-election.ADNFCR-1961-ID-19939977-ADNFCR

    I’ve seen a lot of you speak rather harshly about Newt Gingrich. I think you’re overdoing it a bit. Yes he’s made mistakes. I hated it when I saw him get all buddy buddy with Bill Clinton for a spell. I think he was plotting against everything Clinton was about the whole time. Newt Gingrich is one of the most intelligent people I’ve had the priviledge to hear speak. His personal life has had a few bumps in the road too. For the faults he has he’s one of the most valuable politicians we conservatives have in our arsenal. Don’t be so knee jerk reactionary. Base your judgement of him on what he promotes, is known for and the influence he projects. Give a little more in depth though to who Newt Ginrich is. Don’t just react to the latest headlines.

    How about: Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive , it is the right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government.
    But of course in that case People might have to leave their Giant Flat TV screen , and their Corporate control favorite show for a little while so it is better, I guess, to leave things the way they are and choose between Evil and less evil every four years and wave the flag pretending that everything is going to be alright.

      There is a secret power elite that we never hear about who really controls things. Many of the front politicians such as the ones you mentioned, Palin, Gingrich, Obama, etc, are like sit com actors spouting words created by others to appear smart so they can keep the uniformed riled up about some manufactured issue so their masters can quietly attend to their real agenda.

      I agree with much that you say guyb. You’re a bit rough on President Bush though. We had a good President in George W. Bush. At times he was a bit misguided but he was honest and I believe looking out for the best interest of the country as he saw it. I didn’t like his attitude on amnesty for illegals nor his promotion of the super highway into Mexico. He understood the economy and kept it going rather well. At the end when he saw he wasn’t going to be in charge any longer he gave in to what he knew the next President was going to do. A BAD mistake! Don’t paint him with the same brush that the political left does. He doesn’t deserve that.

To be a flag carrier for the party, be a freak faggot and swing any way that makes you stand out as a loon. Embrace Islam and pedophilia, and any perveron, and above all, want the government to control every thing in everyone’s life.     I fully support this effort to highlight family values . If you vote for the right people you win even if you lose the election , sooner or later we will get the real responsible Americans in . As for comparing the nazi and islam , I will take the nazi every time .     It is time to choose sides.
    Over the last couple of years I have heard many people talk about having their states secede from the Union of the States over the dissatisfaction with Washinton policies and overreaching abuse of their Constitutional powers. Would not the simpler remedy be for all of the States to band together under that Union and remove Washinton D.C. (an area of 10 square miles) from the contract and simply disband the Federal Government altogether? Each state could then run their states under the Constituion in a proper fashion while setting up a new Federal Government Under the original Constitution and the Bill of Rights (all other amendments that were added after can be voted on by the people as to whether or not they are re-ratified). Recind all International contracts and treaties(NAFTA,CAFTA, U.N. Treaties, the Federal Reserve etc.) Return the states to Article one section 8 lawful money (gold and silver only…or at least paper backed by precious metals).Allow the states to set up their own business regulations and keep the Federal Government within their Article 1 Section 8 restraints. Return to a system of Common law, Equity and Amiralty Courts while eliminating the U.C.C. and public policy courts (moral law).
    Get rid of all Federal programs and agencies ,Education, EPA,banking etc and retun those to the state and local levels (that way, if you don’t like the state laws etc…you can move to a state that appeals to your values. Under federal rules that is not possible because all are under one single set of rules).
    I could go on for days with this post, but what it boils down to is this:

    We don’t need to secede…we need to boot out the real enemy of the States….The unrestrained over-reaching Federal Government.

      You make a LOT of sense, but it still seems easier to secede (boot out DC, not a state anyway)and start over with the basics of the Constitution and Amendments and Founding Documents than it is to OUST the evil leaders… and Ruling Elites (aka Puppet Masters) who I might add are calling the shots in THIS country with whoever is governing at the fed level.

      In any case we, conservatives, need to band together and LEAD… if the other side doesn’t cheat to win… in which case we should make sure NOW that the election isn’t rigged and the results are fair.

        I still believe that there is skullduggery taking place with various elections around the country. In 2008 there was thousands and thousands of mail bags not picked up from Naval ships all around the world at the time approaching the upcomming Presidential election, for an extended period. Similar strange occurances happend in the 2004 election. There were many people voting in more than one state. There were voting places that were not remaining open until the proper time and others that ran out of ballots. This has to have more attention given to it in the future. As long as people get away with this kind of stuff they’ll get bolder and bolder about it.

        A few mail bags late, a couple prison voters here, a band of illegals there, multiple voting in this state, Mickey Mouse voting in that state, calling elections for a candidate before polls close, and Black Panthers intimidating at that polling sight…

        There are MORE of us than there are of them and yet we still can’t pin their violations on them and beat them because they break the rules and own everybody.

        How can we fix that?

      I agree that it would be best to go back to the original federal government but I don’t see it happening short of a revolt – which I don’t want. Too many other countries would be too happy to help somewhere, whether you wanted it or not. We CAN’T go back to precious metal covered money – there isn’t enough precious metal around to back the money. But I’d like to see the Feds cut to the same government we started with: The Department of State to deal with friendly nations, the Department of War to discourage unfriendly nations, and the Department of Treasury to pay for just the other two departments. No 600,000 workers in Washington or anywhere else working for the feds.

    The public has finally awakened and figured out exactly what the people in Washington really do and that is why they’re being fired.
    The people in D.C. (both party’s) spend millions of dollars to get elected to offices… that pay thousands of dollars. Why?… for the power, inside connections and back room deals with special interests. Once in office, they spend 1/3 of their time “appearing” to be doing the people’s work and 2/3 of their time campaigning for the next election (so that they can keep that power).

    They didn’t stop listening to the people, they never listened in the first place (they simply told us what they thought we wanted to hear).
    They have talked down and lectured to us.
    They have for far too long told us how they know better than we do, how to live and cunduct our lives.
    They have told us in all of their infinite wisdom how dumb we are for disagreeing with them….

      around a new movement possibly The American Indepenent
      Party or The Constitutional Party. We are throwing votes away

      I remember Senator Bumpers making a comment one day about a vote he had made that about 90% of the people disagreed with.

    Let’s start over without all the leftovers bringing conservative
    sounding labels. The person showing their true conservative values
    will be the one who is willing to sacrifice all but his/her principles
    to the cause of true freedom, in the same way our founders did.

    We need new blood found in people possibly inexperienced in politics compensated by faith in God to help him/her lead again with Divine assistance to victory. The real question for any would be person of values is
    whether he/she really treasures the idea of LIBERTY WITHOUT UNCONSTITUTIONAL RESTRAINTS. That would be a person worthy of my support. One real problem is that although most of us attending this
    forum could probably name a few truly dedicated individuals we have
    trouble unifying under one or several. That is why the notion of political parties orininally had to surface. We need a real third
    party who could gather the strength with Divine Assistance to lead
    forward at this point. Otherwise we will remain fractured and easy
    prey for elitists controlling both major parties and our American society as a whole. Please let us never again fall into the trap of
    the existing two-party controlled system. Most of these people are
    not principled people willing to work for the idea of true liberty
    as envisioned by our founders who taught correct principles and
    strongly encouraged the people to keep what they had been given-
    A TRUE REPUBLIC– IN GOVERNING THEMSELVES.

      Fred is right. Conservatives need new blood. Gingrich’s cavalier attitude about truth and his propensity for twisting it, apart from his personality makes him unsuitable for high office. Romney – a smart man, but he looks like he has been dipped in polyethyline, and his religion is off putting to many… also not conservative in an enlightened way. That tabloid queens, Palin and Bachmann are just intellectually inadequate. Boehner, Cantor, McConnell… Please… We need people who can do more than spout rhetoric and obstruct anything, good or bad, done by the other party.

      We need bright, pragmatic leadership that are not slaves to dogma. Men and women who can recognize problems, come up with realistic solutions, and are capable of working with the other side and get things done that help our country.

        with sin in any way? That is one of the reasons a great

        The presence of people with differing points of view is a given in a pluralistic society, such as the one we enjoy in the US, is a given. There may be different opinions on what our country’s future should be like, but that does not mean that those who do not share our opinions are evil or unpatriotic. We all live in the same country and love America in our own way. We must learn to work effectively with those who are not in total agreement with us or nothing will aver happen. It will always be one side obstructing the policies of the other.

        Our founding fathers new that and that is why we have a multi party system so that varying opinions can be represented. That is what a democracy is all about. Total inflexibility in politics borders on totalitarianism. That is what the Taliban wants, that is what they have in North Korea, that is what Al Qida wants, that is what the Nazis wanted, that is what the Roman emperors and Ghengis Khan had.

        I bless the diversity of opinion that is America. That is what makes us great. It is important that we communicate with everyone and make a genuine attempt to find common ground.

        Genuine integrity can be recognized by even the most cynical and can inspire others to change their minds. That is why it is important to clean house in Washington and in local politics and elect people who care more about our country than themselves. :Let’s focus on problem solving and not demonizing those with whom we disagree. They have a right to their opinions, too.

        Pluralism can and has allowed Communism, socialism, progressivism.

        fairness and expression of opposing views. Our founders did not
        agree with each other on many issues but there was a basic concensus

    Newt Gingrich was an “Army brat” who became a history professor, not exactly conducive to making a true blue conservative. There are other reasons he should not be considered seriously for the Presidency: (1) He was born into the small, transitional Silent Generation, which has never produced a President and is unlikely to, and he has never been a Governor or major league executive.

    Mike Huckabee was Governor of Arkansas and was not particularly conservative.

    Mitt Romney is the son of RINO Governor George Romney of Michigan. He was Governor of Massachusetts and he did his part to expand the role of government in the form of “RomneyCare”, which resembles “ObamaCare”. In addition, it is folly to overlook the fact that many people in the conservative base consider the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon)to be a non-Christian cult.

    Truth be known, I think that if a serious study of true blue conservatives, it would be found that most come from what I call “semi-underprivileged” backgrounds, meaning too rich to be poor, too poor to be rich, AND not eligible for anything.

    In politics, controversy is like a spice. If real conservatives are able to sift and sort candidates,
    they can have the satisfaction of knowing that they didn’t get stuck with more closet RINOs or half-assed ‘Republicans.’
    Gingrich doesn’t send any tingling sensations up my leg. Huckabee and Romney don’t. How about some people who aren’t part of the Washington scene? As a last resort, pick some names out of some phone books.
    Stick to proven standards, conservatives, and let
    the rest figure out the hard way that it takes more than mere words to get things done. Honoring the Constitution would be a great place to start.
