Chicago mayor not to seek reelection, will Rahm Emanuel run?In a bittersweet development for conservatives and gun rights supporters in Chicago, the city’s Mayor Richard M. Daley made the surprising announcement that he will step down when his term ends, after more than 20 years in power. However, Rahm Emanuel, the political arch-enemy of many conservatives, has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Daley.

"I’ve always believed that every person, especially public officials, must understand when it’s time to move on," the mayor said during a news conference at City Hall. "For me, that time is now."

Among the reasons for Daley’s decision, commentators have mentioned his wife’s deteriorating health and a series of political setbacks, including a failed bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games and the Supreme Court’s vote earlier this year to strike down the city’s long-standing handgun ban.

Daley has become known as a vocal proponent of gun control during his tenure.

It appears that all eyes are now turning to Emanuel, President Barack Obama’s controversial chief of staff, who had previously been quoted as saying he would like to run for mayor of Chicago.

He still has some time to make up his mind as the mayoral general election is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2011.ADNFCR-1961-ID-19937320-ADNFCR

    Rahm is part of the Chicago corruption. Made his home a “non-profit” so he avoids real estate taxes, gets free school tuition for his kids in a private school by donating. The corrupt Elites of Chicago, Pritzkers, Daleys, etc., are using the minorities (blacks, hispanics, muslims, and asians) by giving them funding for “communities”. SEIU/Acorn using the University of Illinois as their outlet (where William Ayers teaches). With his buddies, Axelrod and Valarie Jarrett, they’re getting rich by forcing the poor minorities out of their neighborhoods so they can build high-end developments.

      Why do taxpayers put ip with subsidizing a college or professor that’s only reason for being is to promote a political point of view. Colleges are for learning and if they are publicly funded then points of view and political discussions should be left open forums but left out of the classroom. There are too many that profess to be teachers with agendas that are not good for Americans. I for one, hope that support for these colleges will stop if they cross the line between honestly presenting the subject they are teaching and preaching a political agenda.

      The University of Chicago was the first college that was identified and a liberal, socialist and communist hotbed. Not too far fetched that it spread to the University of Illinois.

      Doesn’t surprise me in the least. The only sad thing about this is, there must be at least a few Chicagoan’s / Illinoisians who would love to clean house, but don’t have the numbers to do so…yet can’t afford to simply pack up and leave (especially in the current housing market). Except for those unfortunate ones, the rest of that city (and state) can just disappear by sponataneous combustion and it will not matter one little bit to me.

    The only good thing about Chicago is that is where the 2 blacks [offensive word removed] that murdered my brother, were arrested and thrown into Cook County Jail. Oh i better not forget to tell you all that one of the murders daddy is a Judge in Michigan. Too bad the NAACP and O.J.Simpson’s atty, Johnny Cock ran, could not get their normal racism charge, because of course it was a false charge, the 2 thugs were both found guilty of murder and they are now in prison. The trouble with the prison system these days is that all the black criminals change to become a Muslim for protection.

      You made the comment about the criminals becoming muslim–you are correct. I have read this time and time again in manuscripts and it is happening. There are thousands of them now that have become muslim.

        Patrick / Claire – The criminal conversion to Muslim faith/nationality (whatever their claim to be) seems very plausible. I have a relative who is a prison guard and she said many of the prisoners do convert to Muslim once imprisoned; hmmmmm Robert all of sudden becomes Muhammed. What a farce.

        Fed Up Gal in NM–Yes, I would venture to guess at least half of the prisoners in prisons are converting to the muslim belief. I have read it in the books I edit. It is really becoming an item to be concerned about.

    Having been born in Cook County and raised in Du Page, I know the politics of the Chicago machine and it’s extension into surrounding “collar” counties. That said, I’m glad Daley is going to be out but I’m sad he didn’t die like his corrupt father. How much did you say Daley is worth now compared to when he took office? Chicago politics is corrupt to the core and I will die before I would ever move back to that area or Illinois for that matter!

      I have to agree with you L.J. but the citizens also need to get rid of the corrupt city council. Crook county also needs to be purged of it corrupt pols. I left that city 13 years ago and vowed never to return. These Dems in Chicago have no clue to what needs to be done balance their budget. You cannot sell off everything that brings in revenue and hope to balance it. Good riddance Daley.

    But remember that the other half of Obama’s brain will be taking Rahm’s seat as Chief of Staff. Ms. Valarie is also from Chicago, and was partially raised in Iran. She too is an American hater, but a huge fan of Van Jones and his plot to destroy America. What a crew is defecating on the floors of our White House! Michelle quite frankly told the American public that she did not like America, Obongo loves Kenya, and the rest are either from the far East or Chicago…humm, quite a resemblance. Rahm will fit into the Chi town Political Machine, there is no doubt. After all “it’s a shame to loose a good opportunity.”

I’m glad they are locating there in a central location as it helps keep the reat of America free from their disease that is spreading so rapidly. We already have way too much clutter of shit politicans all over and illegal Kenyons now occupy the White House along with corrupt Justice dept. officials, speaker of the house idiot, Barney boy, Dodd boy, Janet Nipalotano, Harry scarry Reid. etc etc. I think we should by-pass the impeachment process and just prepare the Gallows for many hangings that will follow.

        JoeH–My husband is working on it. So far it seems some have a bit of a connection with Chicago. Joe, I just cannot vote for Kirk. He lied about his military record and receiving a military award. If he will lie about something as important as that he will lie about anything. Maybe I should “forgive” him but I have lost respect for him. I just don’t want to vote for liars. I want the truth. Is that too much to ask for in this world?

At this moment, I cannot think of who I would like other than I think it should be someone that has no ties to either party. An Independent, a True Conservative, Libertarian?     Chicago needs term limits. Houston has term limits (three 2 year terms) and there is no corruption in city goverment. All elected officials should have term limits to avoid corruption, back door deal making, and brides.

      I agree with you Lou. There are just two problems. First, although we have term limits here, this mayor Mike Bloomberg thumbed his nose at them, and ran for a 3rd term. Secondly, I’m not a big fan of term limits, as I believe we already have the ability to limit politicians’ terms in office – that is, at the voting booths. IMO, the biggest dilemma here is that liberal democraps are always replaced with other liberal democraps. The only good thing about term limits is that if politicians had to go back to normal lives, they’d be reluctant to pass laws that they currently exempt themselves from, such as government health/hell care.
