Glenn Beck D.C. Rally Calls For A More God-Centered Country

September 1, 2010 by

Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor event draws large crowd in DCGlenn Beck, whose popularity has skyrocketed this year thanks to his television show on Fox News and radio program, held a rally over the weekend that the conservative commenter estimated drew close to 400,000 attendees.

The Restoring Honor rally could prove to be a defining moment in Beck’s ongoing career and may have struck a chord with Americans who are more religious in nature.

During the rally Beck said that the country "for too long had wandered in the darkness" and that the potential answer would be that more Americans need to "turn back to God."

A piece by columnist Ross Douthat was featured in the Monday edition of The New York Times and remarked that the rally carried a more religious tone, and that Beck may be a much more powerful voice than some realized.

"To this rally-goer, though, the most striking thing about ‘Restoring Honor’ was the way the pageant effortlessly tapped into the same rich vein of identity politics that has given us figures as diverse as Palin and Howard Dean, George W. Bush and Barack Obama — but did so, somehow, without advancing any explicitly political agenda," wrote Douthat.ADNFCR-1961-ID-19932978-ADNFCR

Man is fallin by nature! That is why GOD gave Moses the TEN CAMANDMENTS! If you fail as all mankind does, you ask JESUS CHRIST ( GOD )to forgive you and change your life and not keep repeating your transgressions! OH by the way JESUS CHRIST died on a cross for all mankind! JESUS also states in the BIBLE that no one goes to the FATHER except through HIM! Break open your BIBLES and find out what the plan is!!!

    • Karolyn

I just cannot wrap my head around a God that would send everyone who doesn’t believe in the Bible to “hell.” I especially cannot wrap my head around the fact that so many people believe that.

      • kate8

Karolyn, I do not believe God wants anyone in hell.

“The wages of sin is death”. This means that everytime we defy God’s laws (think wrong thoughts, do or say harmful things, put harmful things in our bodies, etc) we create energy blockages in our systems, and we suffer. The more contrary to God’s laws we are, the more we suffer.

We experience hell as a consequence of our own defiance. We have the choice to turn from evil at any point in our lives. It is the law of Kharma, no matter what you call it, and no one escapes it.

      • Karolyn

Thanks for that Kate. I agree. However, there are those who do not, more’s the pity.

        Robert Smith,

The mistake you are making is that you think God sent them to hell. He did not, they sent themselves. They had free choice just as we do and they chose to do wrong even though they knew the price they would have to pay ! We also know the price we will have to pay if we choose to take the wrong path ! However all those that lived before the birth of Christ were offered salvation too when Christ was crusified and died. Jesus went into the gates of hell and they did not prevail against him. He went there to set the captives free if they wanted to be free ! What do you think their choice was? I think they jumped at the chance ! God loved us all and provided for us all but there is a cost to everything. Our cost is that we believe and accept Jesus as our savior sent by God the father.

      • Robert Smith

From Granny Mae: >>> Our cost is that we believe and accept Jesus as our savior sent by God the father.<<<

I don't deal in that coinage. In fact much of the world doesn't.

        Robert,
That is your right not to ‘deal in that coinage’. But God does.

If there is a god I don’t believe that he is concerned with the matters of the earth ot those that are on it.
The Jews are called the “chosen people” if they are so protected by God why have they had to go thru Hell for so many centuries. Couldn’t he have gotten them across the desert and in to the promised land a little quicker than 40 years!?
I don’t want the unprovable fallback that he is testing us or he works in mysterious ways as an answer. The same can be said for Lady Luck
No, man is responsible for his will, fate and destiny and if the men and women of the U.S.of A don’t stand up for themselves and do what is right to keep the country that gives them the freedom to believe or not they will find themselves wondering the earth trying to find another place that once again gives them that opportunity!

    • Angel Wannabe

God says, take up your cross and follow me__The story patience of JOB, in the Bible, to make a long story short, JOB lost everything, as a test to to see if he would hold unto to his faith in God. He lost family, wealth, and was about to sacrifice his only son on the alter, until God stopped him.___ If we decide, (and we are given a choice to follow either the light or the darkness), to follow God, we don’t run ahead, we follow him, with our own cross. Just because we are believers, doesn’t mean the hard times stop, but God does send the Holy Ghost to be with us as a help mate.Sometime as belivers we are more highly tested than others, is just the way it is.

      • hundabuxt

        Angel Wannabe

It was Abramham who was about to sacrifice his son on the alter not Job.

      Jim

The Jews have suffered because in spite of being God’s “chosen people”, which they still are by the way, God called them “stiff necked”, meaning stubborn and resistant to the provisions God provided as guidelines. Even though during their escape from Egypt, Jews witnessed several amazing miracles, they still were disobedient even to the point they convinced Arron to allow the construction of an inamimate golden calf to worship rather than God while Moses was on the mountain with God. The Jews appear to be very stubborn and disobedant and it sometimes seems that adversity is the only way to get their attention. Speaking metaphorically, its much like dealing with a disobedient child continuiously. To this day they (most of them) still reject Jesus as their (our) Messiah.
Many people take Bibical concepts out of context or accept the opinions of others as the truth insofar as the Bible is concerned. I suggest you and others buy a Bible from someone like John MacArthur who has writted an excellent teaching version containing copious notes, which explain in great detail what the sometimes difficult verses mean. MacArthur has studied the Greek and Hebrew texts, which are far more detailed than that found in english language.

    • Walt

Jim, maybe if you would read the Bible from beginning to end, you would be enlightened how He does care for His chosen people, and you would find out that all through the Bible he tells us that He cares for all of us and it was His chosen people that this task was issued, to inform the whole world of this. Thankfully he sent another, Paul, the biggest hater of the Jewish people of that time, to reveal the mystery of why Christ was sent, and that Christ died to save all who receive him by faith, which also is a gift, not of works lest any man should boast. He gave Himself for you Jim, and you also can receive that gift, if you want to accept it.

    • ValDM

The jews are God’s chosen people. However, when they choe no to recognize the Messiah, they were turned over to the world. Christians are not the chosen people (being of the vine), but are grafted onto the vine.
Folks, the current problems we’re experiencing are the beginning of the END. Soon, everyone will have to choose: Good or Evil. Pick your sides now and avoid the rush. It’s later than you think.

      • Karolyn

        We are ALL the Chosen!

      • Jana

        Yes Karolyn,
We are all chosen, but some won’t respond, and that is not God’s fault, it is our own fault becasue we refuse to believe the Truth.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Jana,
that is what I was trying to get through to robert. The failings of Man have nothing to do with the will of God!!!

    • kate8

Jim, the error in that thinking is that God is separate from his creation.

In the beginning there was only God….which means that His creation proceeded from Him, and is part of Him.

He knows the number of hairs on our heads. Not a sparrow falls that He doesn’t see. We each contain His Spark. It is only we who choose to deny Him.

He says, “Return to Me and I will return to you”. He is closer than breathing. He is as personal as He is universal.

    • Granny Mae

      Jim,
As so many people on here have tried to explain to others that doubt there is a God let me try to explain. There is a God and he created man and woman. When he made us he gave us free will to choose to do and make our own decissions, and because of that he does not control our lives. He has given us rules to live by as a guide, and when we follow those rules we pretty much live a good life. Unfortunately everyone has that same free will and free choice and when they make the wrong choices they effect us as well as themselves. That is why there are bad things that happen to good people ! God is interrested in what goes on with us on this earth but he will not interfere as that would change things in our lives and cause us to expect God to take over and do everything for us even though we would never learn to suffer the consequences of our own actions. There are times though when we pray for his divine interception that he will do something in our life that will cause a different result than what could have been expected. We call this action a miricle. I have recieved one of these miricles myself although I didn’t pray for it, several others did, and I am so very grateful ! Sometimes there are things that happen that are not our fault but somewhere along the road something has happened that caused an action that effects our life perfoundly ! As humans we don’t have all the answers but one day we will know the answers. We must accept God unseen and trust in him that he is what he says he is and he can do what he says he can do. Our purpose is to love God and to love him of our own free will. As for the Jews, being the chosen people that is what God told us and them however it is not just words that make this so. It is a covanent between God and the Jewish people. A covanent is a sacred word or promise that God makes with someone that is an agreement between Him and them, and he will never change that promise or break his word, however when the Jews did not keep their end of the deal they were punished until they come to understand the importance of keeping their promises too. They had to learn that a covanent can not be broken after all they were given something that no other people on earth was given and they didn’t appreciate it. So it has been a difficult journey for them. All of this took place in the Old Testament. With the coming of Jesus there has been some new changes that effect us. As Christians we have been grafted in to the promises of God. Because we accept Jesus as the Son of God. God gave you life for you to live it He will not live it for you ! You can experience Him for yourself all you have to do is ask him into your heart and ask him to forgive all your sins. Tlak to him as though he were sitting in the chair next to you and then wait for his answer back to you. It may take some time or it may be right away but you will recieve an answer. Sometimes it takes weeks or months. But keep reading the bible and wait and see what happens.

  • Bob

I concur with most everything written above…. and wanted to add that this discussion is as predicted in the bible about there coming a ‘cry’ for spirituality/God/leaders will be ‘called’ and many will well up to encourage people to develop a relationship with God and that there would be ‘an outcry’ from the people.

Sadly, again as predicted, this country is “divided” due to Political correctness, fears of ‘offending other religions, etc. Also we are so engrossed with politics (political correctness) and our “Leaders” only really interested in getting re-elected.._) that GOD, FREEDOM, TRUTH, LIBERTY are just ‘words people use’ to “look good’ to others. Again, very sadly, God is so far removed from discussions, freedom, values, and HIS PURPOSES… that we can all come to believe “I’m Right”… and personally, there are major difficulties when WE thing we are Good, Right, etc. (thats the flesh, pride, ego, etc. Hence, Glen Becks rally is right on the mark about EACH OF US as people and individuals need to Pray, Fast, Be humble and Ask that Gods will be done.. and we each need to look to God, (not ourselves our best thinking or perceptions of what WE THINK IS GOD… but rather to the basics of developing a relationship with God regardless of OUT values, best thinking, etc. It really is all about ‘a relationship with God and Truth as opposed to what I THINK, etc. It is a slippery slop because it really is so hard to discern Gods Will… Its just so easy to “depend on OUR UNDERSTANDING rather then knowing and believing and acting according to biblical principals and values with a constant need to pray for HIS will rather then Ours.

My bottom line is that God NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED whenever we (the people, politians, etc). attempt to discern what to do next or the best course of actions. It is just SOOOOOO easy to get into ME THINKING rather then “HIS WILL thinking and doing.

  • Joan

It has always been separation of Church and State in this great country. IT HAS NEVER BEEN SEPARATION OF GOD AND STATE. Man-made religions get in the way of good government. God’s oversight never does. It’s what is in our hearts that steers our lives and therefore our government, not the pew in which we sit on Sunday. When we understand that the principles that forged the government of the Founding Fathers are Godly principles, there should be no issue to debate. While the Founders themselves, like all humanity, had their flaws, they knew that the application of God’s laws held the secret of success for all facets of life. When religion is politicized, it is no longer a religion–it’s a perversion.

Thank you Glenn Beck for reminding us that only through God will we have true liberty and freedom. As it is said. The Truth will make you Free.

    • kate8

Joan, that is a very good point.

Churches all vary in their doctrines. That is why the government may not endorse one over another.

But the church is not God. Only God is God, and one does not need to be a member of a church to know Him. He is over and above all doctrines.

We get into trouble when we make religion our God. Religion is nothing more than man’s feeble attempt to put God in a box, so he can try to make sense of the incomprehensible.

It is God to whom we must turn. Not religion.

      • Karolyn

        I agree again, Kate!

      • Jana

        Kate8,
I very much agree with that.

      • Kinetic1

Very good Kate. What you have said sounds much like the Deist approach of Jefferson and others. Not all will accept that there is a God, but if those that will can agree that one church’s God is not better than another, that God is God, with or without dogma, then we will all do well together.

      • Lubo

kate8….Once again you exude wisdom beyond most who comment on this blog. The “Church” is the “Bride of Christ” and it is a condition of the heart(Spirit) that requires no buildings or bounderies to define.

The power of the HOLLY SPIRIT is manifest through those who are “Like Minded” with CRIST JESUS.

“When two or more gather in my name, I will walk in the mist of them.”

The WORD OF GOD is pure 100% spiritual and unless you WALK WITH GOD in the spirit, you cannot comprehend HIS message nor understand your individual purpose in life.

    • alpha-lemming

God said…. “Here is the truth”.

The Devil said…. “Let me catalogue that for ya”. And we got organized religion.

      • Jana

        alpha-
        That sounds about right.

What is really frightening is the lack of coverage from any of the news medias other than Fox.It is quite clear that we have succumbed to socialist style govt…freedom of the press is a joke..the media has become like the old Soviet news agencies that toe the govt. propaganda and control machine…even if your a liberal, should’nt you be alarmed at the one sidedness of the media. The left are like ostriches with their heads in the sand..they think if it’s not reported it will go away. But guess what…not only will we not go away..we are growing in numbers.I went to my first March for Life last year..same thing..absolutely no media coverage and the buildings along the route all had their shades and blinds drawn…it was like marching through a ghost town..and yet it too grows larger every year. For the godless who think religion should be only practiced in our homes amongst yourselves..thats just the opposite of what we are called to do.Evil will try to silence us but we shall overcome. The more you try to take religion out of the public dominion…the more religion is going to grow in it..whether good or bad…God will not lose His voice within His own creation.Glen Beck is spot on and I thank God for people like him who will not let evil and corruption to spread unchecked and without opposition…the best form of fighting evil is on your knees in prayer.

    • Kinetic1

John, the media, even FOX failed to cover many large antiwar rallies during the last administration. I don’t think these sorts of things fit well into their 30 minute slots. What with local feel good stories, weather and the day’s sports coverage I’m surprised we hear much of anything important.

All the cable news shows talked about this event both before and after. As for during, I don’t know if they thought they would offer alternative viewing for those who were not interested, or if FOX would not allow other networks to cover the event, except from the edges. Of course there was no need since FOX was going to be there for full coverage.

Glenn has given Freedom loving Americans a voice, it just so happens that most of us are Christian but still respect that in this country you have a right to practice any non-violant religion you choose to. He gave Stay at home Moms, Hard working moms and Dads, small business owners that are busy working and taking care of their families who at the end of the day have been glad to have an hour or two just to catch our favorite comedy/show a wake up call. Glenn has done more for us than ANY politition. I truly believe God sent him to light a fire under America because we have been too busy to notice our Country is in real trouble. Actually, alot of us sawing it coming but didn’t know what to do…and as we prayed he answered that prayer by sending someone that gave us a voice. Well, we are awake and standing behind Him in the truth. 8/28 was a wonderful day!!!

  • Loretta E.

I was very concerned about the safety of the rally with my son taking his 2 young children with him to attend it. I did feel the government would extend all caution to make sure danger was minimized as no one would want any violence that could be used against them politically.
While the Tea Party may not be as strong as it should be, I only hope it will arouse our young people to who and what is controlling our lives so they will take more interest than we did in making sure the people they vote into office are people more interested in honor than riches.

    • Karolyn

I don’t understand why I’m hearing so many people talking of having been fearful of being at the rally. Where does that come from. In my view, somebody like Al Sharpton would be more of a target for an extremist. I consider myself to be a left-winger, but the more I read on these posts, I guess I’m not. Maybe I’m an independent and just kept that left label from my hippie days. :-) I’m grateful for these posts – both bad and good. I feel that I am reworking myself. (To a point!)

      • kate8

Karolyn, we all do well to bear in mind that life is an unfolding process. There is always more to learn and understand.

When I do see her I will do that hug for you all and remind her again of your prayers.

I’ve been listening to Glenn on the radio ever since his show was available in our area. I remember listening to his story of the crucifiction of Jesus on “Good Friday” and crying. Then he got his show on CNN…then FOX. So, I’ve been following him for a while. I can feel his heart, he is a good man. My life parallels his in so many ways…except for his successes of course, but along with those successes he has to make extreme sacrifices. He talks about how his wife saved him…I have said that many times about my husband…he saved me from myself. I’ve always felt that devine intervention was the reason for my husband coming into my life. I’m not an extremely religious person but I have prayed for help in the past and somehow my prayers are always answered. The more I listen to Glenn, and hear the message he is trying to convey…the more love and respect I have for him and what he is doing. It hurts me to hear him being so maligned by people. I believe he is trying to be the person he thinks GOD would want him to be….and that is all any of us can do in this life. We all have a cross to bear…and some are heavier than others…that’s just the way it is. I don’t believe Glenn has chosen this cross for himself, I believe he was called to it. There really are no “coincidences”. Glenn has renewed my faith and along with that my hope that our country will return to it’s special position in the world, without the corruption that has slowly shadowed it from the light of GOD. I have blisters all over my feet from walking all over Washington DC over the weekend but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. If people would begin to emulate Glenn Beck instead of trying to assassinate his character and him personally….what a much better world it would be. The devil is always at work in the world…all you have to do to see him is to look at those who use violence and slander to try and take their opponents down. I will stand up for and along side Glenn Beck any day of the week, any time of the day. God Bless him and his family.

    • Anne

Jan, what a lovely post, I totally agree, God Bless you and Glenn Beck

    • Jana

Jan, so you know that this is not just a recent conversion to the Lord on Glenn Beck’s part.

  • Jim

Reading thru this I saw a statement from J. Overbrook about the Mormans.
The mention of them fits in with the argument of seperation of church and state. Utah was not considered or given statehood until the Mormans agreed to the condition that there be only one wife per man. That was the law of this country. Will the government follow thru with this policy when it comes to Mulsims and 4 wives + mistresses?
I would like to see the government either strike down every accomodation and bowing to organized religion or acknowledge Judo-Christian principles as the base for our form of government while saying that you are free to practice what you want but this is what the government was founded on and this is what the government will celebrate. It is the only way the policies that this goverment was founded on can continue to survive. Otherwise it has to strike down all religions.
Christianity may be the ideal religion as far as most (most until the numbers change!) in this country are concerned but when you accommodate it you have to accommodate every other religion that comes down the pike – even the screwballs that practice Islam.
I love Christmas. My family were not church people but they knew moral right from wrong. They knew kindness from ugliness. They celebrated Christmas as full out as any faithful Christian would do. I was young and knew Christmas not as the birth of Christ but as excitment in the air, bright lights, family coming together, good food, nice presents, people being more friendly towards one another and overall just a real nice time of year. I still look at it that way. I do not begrudge those that see it from a highly religious point. I do not dislike those that do not believe in it or practice it at all. I DO dislike the “antis telling me that I have to stop demonstrating my belief because it offends them. Live and let live as long as your living does not tramp on my rights if my rights do not advocate the destruction of others beliefs or the policies and laws of my country.
So, it makes me sad and worries me that as praying, pledging allegiance to the flag have been removed from the school so will Christmas be removed from anywhere but in your own home.
It is only a matter of time before some nut files a lawsuit to stop decorating any government building at Christmas time if it is being done with taxpayer money. Paid religiouis holidays from any government entity will stop because they are being paid with taxpayer money some of which comes from those that do not observe or acknowledge Christmas or some particular religious holiday.
If we ever needed someone with the wisdom of Solomon, it is now!

    • Robert Smith

      Hey Jim… About Soloman!

King Solomon loved, in addition to the daughter of Pharaoh, many foreign woman, Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian and Hittite women, from the nations concerning which the Lord had warned the Israelites. “You must not cohabit with them, nor they with you, for they will certainly turn your hearts to their gods”. Solomon held fast to them in love. He had 700 official wives and 300 concubines….

The Holy Bible 1 Kings 11:1-3

      Rob

      • kate8

Robert, multiple wives and concubines was the custom of the time.

Even Queen Esther had to share her King with many women.

      • Jana

        Robert S.,
Yes he did that and also built Temples for them to worship their false gods, which became prominent in the land.
God in His Word has stated,” My name is Jealous”. He has also said “I am a jealous God”.

This idol worship lead to the downfall of the Israelite people at that time too, because they turned away from worshipping The One True God, and he lifted His hand from them. They even went into captivity. It sounds like what is going on with us today, that is why it is so important for us to stand and make a difference.

      Randy,
I’m not afraid of a Christian God. This has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with freedom. If our government accepts and promotes it’s self as a Christian government, if we proclaim this to officially be a Christian nation of Christian laws, then we deny those who are not Christian to live as free Americans, unfettered by church dogma. We become no better than Saudi Arabia!

Again, our founders purposefully left God out of the Constitution. Read the history told by the men who were there. The question was debated and many devote Christians argued in favor of mentioning Christ, but in the end it was agreed that doing so would deny non Christians of their freedom from religion. It didn’t end there. For as long as we have been a nation, Christian leaders have been trying to put their God into our government. “In God We Trust” was not on our original currency, but was added after the Civil War. “One Nation, Under God” was not added until the 50s. We grew tired of England’s religious intolerance and proclaimed that we would be free. Why do so many now want to turn our nation into that which we fought to become independent of?

      • Lubo

Kinetic1….hard to argue with your comments. Our founding document was based upon Judeo-Christian values. Anyone who would suggest otherwise would be either stupid or in basic denial. Our original laws in general reflect the 10 commandments, given to us by our creator.

Your point is, and that is the beauty of our founding, that our founders gave us a CHOICE, based on the principles of Christianity. In other words, GOD gave them a choice to believe and so did they give AMERICANS a choice of beliefs.

Anything else would be a HUMAN attempt to usurp the POWER OF OUR CREATOR. As if men can MANADATE a belief but GOD cannot.

  • http://www.rbarone.remax-nj.net Rosanne

As they say, “You had to be there.” I was and witnessed a perfect day, with a peaceful gathering of hundreds of thousands patriotic Americans who believe in faith, hope and charity towards all. It was truly a day of historical remembrance when one man humbly brought forth the best and honorable of those who have fought for our freedom and those who continue to do good works through everyday living. Glenn Beck as the instrument of God was called and answered, “Here I am, Lord.” Perhaps the flock of wild geese that flew from the Washington Monument across the reflecting pond, towards the Lincoln Memorial in a perfect “V” formation was God’s signage on the rally, with the message: God first, then family and country. May we go forth in continued Faith, Hope, and Love.

  • Toni Buchanan

It is funny that my 20 and 30-something year old children advised me to be careful when I went to this rally. I wish they had come to see it for themselves. I could not help but imagine heaven might be a little like what I experienced. Tons of people content to be with each other and being respectful of one another. There were families, single mothers with small children, veterans, blacks (mostly on stage),handicapped in wheelchairs, yellow, red, white and blue. No mingling of religion and politics? That is such “escape goat theory”. Why NOT do both? Christians need to practice the faith they preach. Boomergeddan is fast approaching and we spoiled our kids senseless. Maybe we did it out of love but now, we need to fix the debt before they hate us for not seeing it coming. It will not be fun. Hate-filled sarcasm maybe funny these days as long as you are not on the receiving end. I love my kids. I want them to remember our generation as having cared about their welfare. What was “preached” was the mandate of individual rights and American exceptionalism. Who would quarrel with freedom and living in a country that gives more than it receives???? Grow up. Restore America.

    • Jana

      Toni,
I am so glad that you got to go. The reason your children said to be careful is the left put out a few threats. The Black Panthers were going to be there and have it out with Beck, etc.
To me anyone in any type of gang who has to have a bunch of other people with them to do anything must be a bunch of cowards. Together they act like a pack of wild dogs and attack.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Jana,
Beck told the gathering that if they attack you don’t fight back! Just join arms and peacefully resist. I don’t know if I could be strong enough to not return strike for strike!! I guess I’m not as much of a man as some!!! I would have to fight back!

      • Jana

        Joe H.,
I know exactly what you mean. Someone hit my body? NO! I was thinking pepper spray, a stun gun, even wasp spray. I didn’t get to go anyway. Ok, I need to pray for myslef a little harder.

  • Angel Wannabe

I’m not sure you can keep religion out of the original intent of the founders, sc. Politics and Prayer are old as civilization itself. “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!”Look into history, for example The Holy War between Spain and England, between the Catholics and the Protestants. Phillip of Spain, was power hungry too!__ First of all whats wrong with prayer before a days worth of politics? Other than the atheists unwillingness, to let someone alone as they pray. Even if you don’t agree, what’s wrong with having some respect, standing there, and shutting up while a prayer is going on, if you don’t wish to participate, then leave.__There is NO RESPECT TODAY, NOTHING. Everyone HAS TO BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION! There is nothing wrong, with a prayer of good will, concerning the Country and it’s people. George Washington was a God fearing man & periodically, dropped to his knees in Valley Forge, to ask for favor, divine intervention and wisdom, for he his men. Most of the soldiers had no clothing, no shoes, they were battle weary & worn, it was feared they’d lose the war.
I commend Glenn Becks bravery and those stand with him, I know his life must have threatened, as he stated he wore a bullet proof vest during 8/28. Alveda King swore off her vest that was offered her, and she and Glenn prayed, prior to her taking the stage. As did her uncle and other relatives. That’s what lacking today, bravery, the willingness to stand up for ones beliefs. The political correct crowd has done well, changing the language. Tipping the hat in their favor. If you change the language, you can control it!Another form of brainwashing is politcal correctiveness, be aware of that!__I asked a question one time here on this site, where have all the hero’s gone? I’m finding more and more, the hero’s are not always on the battlefield, or the high sea’s or conquering a new world, some are simple people right here at home! Thanks Glenn Beck, for opening the door further!

The apostle Paul said that God’s law is the perfect law of liberty. Beck is right. Turn to God’s law and and our constitution will work wonders. If everybody was part of a roving gang of murderers and thieves burning houses and automobiles then the constitution will not work.

      • kate8

Okay, everyone. This concerns everyone, our children, and especially all Christians.

It is vital that we see what’s going on in the underbellies of government, the CIA, FBI and NWO, and understand how they are manipulating facts, history, and using technologies to control our minds. It also tells how they are using things like Wiki- to change our perceptions, and how they are trying to wipe out all natural healing modalities, and how Big Pharma is involved in population reduction.

I got this link this morning and, even though I was aware of these things, I’m still reeling from the read.

The turning point for this nation was when we as a nation allowed prayer to be taken out of school. I was a small child in school then and we all wondered, why? One Harlot of Babylon was allowed to take what is righteous from this nation while everyone stood back and said nothing. Christ said, “Woe to those who stumble the little ones”. With that one act you said to GOD, we do not need you and his reply is OK. That is why we are where we are today. Why not put it to the test, repent, go back to GOD, all of us, as a nation and see if things don’t change, fast. It is the will of GOD.

    • Christin

You know mj, how gov (past & present) has taken “God out of our schools” (and pretty much everything in our society)… well, wouldn’t it be grand if all (or most of) the Teachers, Parents, administrators and staff just started praying for the students, families and schools out-loud every day?

Could you see the AFL-CIO and other intolerant, hate groups freaking out and trying to sue everyone in court (that is not the good part). The courts would be overwhemled with the number of cases and we would OVER LOAD THE SYSTEM!! Get it? We would be using “the Saul Alinski” method ON THEM!!!

OVER WHELM THE SYSTEM… bet the courts would have to go back and allow for some religious FREEDOMS as stated in the Constitution of the United States of America.
Why didn’t we think of this before. We know what is right and constitutional.
      What say you guys?

      • Angel Wannabe

Christin, it’s given, if we want religion in our lives, and are tired of being persecuted because of it, we’ve got to stand up for it, just like Beck!

      • Kinetic1

Why do so many of you insist that prayer must be TAUGHT in school? When prayer is lead by a teacher, all students, regardless of their faith will be required to pray as the teacher prays. But any child who learns their parent’s religion in their home and church brings their god with them wherever they go. Those children do not need a teacher to lead them in prayer because they have the strength to silently pray when they feel the need.

      • alpha-lemming

A reasonable question. I may be missing one or two, but “mano et mano” prayer (talking to God personally) can be put into five categories: 1) Please 2) Thank you 3) Why 4) Oops 5) Gimme. For the purposes of this reply, we’ll stipulate “public” prayer is relegated to the first two. If you can accept that God is synonymous with something that’s “bigger than us”, ANYTHING that can instill just a little humility and let these kids know they (contrary to their own feelings) are NOT the most important thing in the universe (actions/requirements for the greater societal good) has GOT to be a good thing.

If you can’t accept there’s something more important than “me”… that’s symptomatic of what’s wrong in the world (AND PLEASE don’t go off a tangent about “public welfare” which, more times than not, is enabling bad behavior vs. assistance to the TRUELY needy).

The difference is that the Catholic priests who did this horrible abomination knew what they did was evil. They will pay a very high price when they meet their maker. In the Muslim world pedophilia and bestiality are common and socially acceptable. HUGE difference in concepts.

      • libertytrain

And gunner – as you know, a small percentage of pedophile priests exists, probably the same percentage of pedophiles that are hidden among boyscouts, teachers, and other professionals where children may be gathered and they can become easy prey. It’s not considered an acceptable practice in our society and is criminal, wherein the other society, it apparently is a given and a regular treat for the male. Lucky little Muslim boys and girls.

Sharpton, Jackson, etc. etc. I am sick and tired of these brown colored men going around calling themselves Reverned? The only reason they say that is so they can write off all their travel, housing, food, hookers, alchol, football tickets, world travel junkets, etc etc. on their taxes and it’s another way they can promote their racism. You see it gives them an excuse to claim racism when things don’t go the way they want it to. They think society will look favorably on them when they have a title, reverned. This is a joke since my wife’s mother, caught her husband, having an affair with a church lady, God fearing volunteer.

If we do not restore ourselves to a solid foundation then we could probably expect the same results we have recieved over the past few decades. If we can get our own house in order in respect to our faith then our politics will naturally follow. How could anyone cast a vote for the jokers, con-artist, hoaxsters, liers, and down right self interested politicians again if one was true to their faith and self. If we lead with what Beck mentions then all else will fall into place without pushing any political/religious movement. Move yourself and that will move us back to truth or our founding.

Glenn Beck’s rally was inspiring. Also, in DC another rally lead by a Reverend named Al Sharpton was hateful and vindictive. Until these so called reverends actually START acting like men of the cloth, we will remain a divided country. Beck is on the right track..It is time, Reverend Al,to board the train.

    • Lubo

Sharpton is a byproduct of black liberation theology, a marxist based ideolgy. As with Rev Wright, spewing venom and hate from the pulpit should tell us all we need to know.

Personally, I cannot even put Beck’s name in the same sentence as this fake and fraud who has made MILLIONS through exploiting the poor.

Liberals hate Beck because the TRUTH hurts and they fear this restoring HONOR tour may USURP their liberal god. i.e.; money, power and greed…..Their golden Cow paid for by all others…even our unborn grandchildren.

      • M. Mullins

        Amen! Amen!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Lubo,
Isn’t it funny that Beck had three hundred thousand, plus in attendance, yet Sharpton had only about five hundred???

      • Kinetic1

Eventually someone was going to bring this up, so it might as well be me. 3 to 4 hundred thousand is the number GB is throwing around, but what is it based on. The only effort at an actual count was done by CBS. Now I know many of you will claim that their count of 87 thousand is biased, but one of the men responsible for the math also made the aerial estimates for the Presidential Inauguration. The number for Obama’s gathering, by his estimate was lower than some had anticipated, but the right accepted it and taunted the left with it. Now the shoe is on the other foot and the right wants to claim the number is far short of reality. You can’t have it both ways.

So, was it 300,00 to 400,000 as Beck felt he saw from the ground, or 80,000 to 94,000 as seen from above? The only problem comes from expectations, other wise 87,000 could be considered a strong turnout.

      • Lubo

Kinetic1…This is something that can be easily resolved. Not that I have the time but I have the tools to come up with an “Estimation”.

I have tools to measure the total acreage of the site where the rally was held. Once that has been established, population density is the only remaining factor to resolve. That would be based upon photos of the rally broken down in sections and then establishing a MEDIAN value.

In other words, there are 43,560 square feet in an acre of land. To keep this simple, let’s take one acre, packed with people. How many square feet does one HUMAN take up in a packed setting?

Well, my footprint will fit in one square foot of land, however, my sholders will not, so lets say approximately 3 sf.

        x = 43,560 / 9.0 feet (3sf)
x = 4,840 people per acre of land mass

        Using Beck’s estimations
        x = 300,000 people / 4,840 people per acre
x = 61.98 acres of land mass required to hold the masses

Now, I think Beck said the crowd extended for .8 miles. A mile is 5,280 feet long.

        A = 5,280feet X .80
A = 4,224 feet LONG This would represent the depth of the crowd

Not sure how wide but let’s assume about a 1/4 the length

        B = 4,224 * 0.25
B = 1056 feet wide This would represent the width of the crowd

What is the total land mass?

        x = (4224 * 1056)
x = 4,460,544 square feet of land mass filled at site

        What is the total acreage?

Total acreage = 4,460,544 / 43,560 (Sf in an acre)

TA = 102.40 acres of land mass

Then what would be the estimated crowd count?

        X = (102.4 acres * 4,840 people per acre)
        total estimated people = 495,616

It appears Beck’s numbers may be a conservative estimate….about 1/2.

      • Kinetic1

Sounds fair, but this is just the sort of formulation used by AirPhotosLive. CBS has provided the footage used to estimate the crowd and you can clearly see the area of the crowd as well the the varied density in different areas. Given that the density in some areas was very light compared to others, it would be very easy to over estimate using the land based formula.

In the end it makes little difference what number is right, but it is amusing to see one person quoting 200,000 to 300,000 or more and another 500,000 or more. Shoot, Michele Bachman was placing it at over a million! I guess you couldn’t see the forrest for the trees.

      • Lubo

        Kinetic1….Maybe, maybe not.

That is why I rely on MATH as the basis of my decision making, especially given the fact that the one’s who oppose Beck will be the low end of the range and the one’s that support Beck will be on the high end of the estimated range of values. I think Beck is honest and his estimations are not over stated, by any means of the imagination.

Based upon the limited data I have, I would still think that my estimation would be a more accurate reflection, as compared to, CBS.

You could put 87,000 people in the average college stadium. Doesn’t add up because one section of the rally would fill the average stadium.

Regardless of the fact, Beck has MILLIONS of people who agree with his ideas of just why this country is in the MESS, that it is currently in. Restoring HONOR will go a long way towards making all of us, a better peoples.

    • Christin

      Glenn’s web page said that
“BO’s Education Secretary Arne Duncan urged 4,000 employees to attend the rally of Rev. Al Sharpton. That’s pretty much unheard of in political circles, usually civil servants are supposed to avoid political rallies at all costs, but not this administration. Oh, we can only omagine what would be happening right now if Geroge W. Bush urged people to attend the Glenn Beck Rally!”

So the way I see it, God did not bless Sharpton for his false statements of Beck and trying to “out do him” by having a black only rally to “be like” MLK which Sharpton IS NOT. He had marchers in the street because they were “urged” to go!

God gives free will. Marxists do NOT.

God bless Glenn Beck for having the courage to stand up for God and Country. And thank you to the 500,000 plus people that attended the Restoring Honor Rally and stood up as well. Wish I could have gone and supported the message, but I enjoyed the full video on Glenn’s newsletter via the web. You should watch it, but know by the end you will have tears.

        Christin,

        Excellent point.

      • kate8

Christin, If this government is so adamant about the “separation of church and state”, then how do they justify endorsing “religious” leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?

Why is no one pointing out this outrageous double-standard?

Wait. We are so used to double-standards on the left that we no longer notice them.

      • Angel Wannabe

kate8, exactly! and how I love Nancy Pelosi, reinterating in a speech about “The Word”__She only worries about “The Word”_(Which I assume to Gods word) when it’s a convienient political tactic.

      • kate8

Angel, I actually wondered about that. When someone questioned her about something in “The Word”, she gave an evasive answer, that this was a topic to be discussed in church. Obviously, she had no clue what the “Word” says.

I’m wondering to what “word” she refers. Being that she pals around with worshippers of Lucifer, I think she may have been thinking of another “word”, knowing the crowd would be thinking Bible.

Pelosi speaks with forked tongue. The left only talks about the Bible when it serves them, and then they distort its meaning. When anyone on the right quotes the Bible, they scream “separation of church and state!”.

It’s all manipulation and deception. And they really believe that we are stupid.

      • Christin

        Angel Wannabe and kate8,
Pelosi is a quite the hypocrite. She said her favorite word is “The Word” which is really two words and that was by design that she used that one. When another reporter questioned her on another day about the meaning of “The Word”, pelosi said, “we only do this with our heads bowed in church” which is a non-answer as she was trying to shut the journalist up, even though she first brought this up in public on TV in front of reporters.

Actually, I believe Glenn Beck addressed this one day on his show.

He said “Divine Providence” is walking humbly and praying to God and He is helping you along. But “Manifest Destiny” is saying: get out of my way, it is my way or the highway, because I’m on a mission from God. We’re doing it whether you like it or not. This is how they justify the horrible things they do… it is their mission from God.

        The Declaration of Independence states:
“When a man tries to live in accordance with ‘Nature’s God and Nature’s Law’ and walks for the betterment of man, God helps. However, when man seeks power and riches by using ‘Nature’s God and Nature’s Law’ in conjuction with others seeking the same, God withdraws and Evil masquerades as good.”

So it seems that the whole gov is “using God” to maquerade as good (wolf in sheep’s clothing) as their justification to do these things to “we the people” they are suppost to represent. Just listen to them when they attach “religion” to their statements… it is Manifest Destiny to the whole group of people.

“Divine Providence” is about the individual and a Free you with God.
This is the right way to live, not “Manifest Destiny” forcing others to do horrible things…(his example was the expansion of the West and killing the Native-American Indians.)

And yes, kate8, I dislike the double-standard (it is really cheating by the left) nor do I like the discrimination of whites by blacks. (No one alive today had anything to do with indentured-servants or slaves of generations ago. Scars Glenn talked about that we must move passed.) Those men who have the title of Reverend are not Godly men and are discriminating against whites(holding grudges) to further an agenda. They have a “broken relationship” with whites and it is a sin.

      • Karolyn

Thanks, Robin. I believe as you do. God did create us as we are and does NOT condemn us for failing to live up to standards. why would he condemn us for being who he made us to be? He loves us as we are. Also, I believe that man has made God in his image rather than the opposite. God made us all spirits, as He himself is. And regarding the Bible, the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew to Greek and the New Testament from Hebrew to Greek to Latin. That is why there are so many fallacies in what people read and differences in translations.

      • Jana

        Karolyn,
That is why a serious student of the Word studies from the Standard King James version as the New Testament has not been translated into Latin. Then we have our tools, which is the concordance that goes back to the Greek and Hebrew, and have also Bible Dictionaries. We do more than just read the Bible, we study the Bible. The oldest and best manuscripts actually contain the Massorah. The Massorah is called the Fence to the scriptures because it locks all words and letters in their places.(short version of the definition.
There may be errors when in the translation they transliterated instead of going for the meaning of the word. Many of the newer versions of the Bible are transliterated instead of being translated.
Actually Karolyn, the Bible does say that God said, “Let us make man in our image.” Genesis 1:26
You are right, He loves us like we are but, He did send His Son who gave His life for us on the Cross so we can have Salvation.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I believe the Bible and what it says. The more I study, the more I know how badly I need Jesus as my advocate to my Father as I am far from being and doing the good that I should, but I do keep trying and I do keep studying.

I am not telling you this to change your mind, I am just presenting truth to you.

        Jana,
My best friend in this world is an athiest. We have had many friendly talks between us. He knows he would never be able to shake my belief in God, but I have made him question his a couple of times. I think this is due mainly to the fact that no matter what he says My faith stays super strong. As my best friend, I hope one day I can bring him to believe again as he did when he was a child and save his soul so I can see him in the afterlife!!! That would be the greatest gift this life could give me. He is a good man and would give the shirt off his back to a complete stranger. It’s ironic, he was the first person I met when I moved here twenty years ago. God DOES work in strange ways!!!

      • Jana

        JoeH,
You are so right. Karolyn is also right. There are many decent people out in this world that do not know the Lord. They may know somthing about Him, but they have no relationship with Him.
The sad thing is, there is a saying that the way to Hell is paved with good intentions.
Most of the people on this site that don’t know the Lord are nice people (garbage mouths are the exception) and they have the right to accept or reject the Lord, but we can still all get along with each other as we all breathe the same air.
The thing is when we know something that is so wonderful, we want to share it, but we have to remember they still have the right to not accept. I do hope your friend will see the light and you will be able to witness it.

Choice being the KEY WORD. That’s what makes GOD….GOD….he gives all of us ,as individuals, a choice, by FREE WILL. In contrast, evil men MANDATE our choices in life throuh oppressive legislation, all in the name of “Collective Salvation”. i.e; OBAMACARE

    • Martaan

I agree MrTim…I also think that like the big Tea Party event (9/12), for every person that was there….there was 25-40 people that would have very much would have wanted to be there. Due to so many other reasons…job..kids…finances…illness..whatever…many couldn’t attend that would have liked to. But what all of those people can do is VOTE in November.

      • alpha-lemming

I agree… and those numbers may be conservative. Somebody should organize an “E-Party” to facilitate those who are prevented from attending a DC-type gathering. The numbers would astonish (or “Scare the bat-snot out of”…. Beck 3:16) anyone paying attention, and once-&-for-all prove the backlash (Honor Rally, town halls, Tea Parties etc.) is NOT a small percentage, fringe movement that can be cow-towed into submission by the likes of MSDNC.

      • Dingo23

A good idea would be for Beck (or someone) to start a list for people who wanted to make it but couldn’t. I know my name would be on it. For health reasons, i won’t be going to any rallys, but I sure can vote!

    • http://Fox TeaParty

While reading so many of the above columns, I see that some have that same empty inner feeling that I have experienced too. If I commit myself to including God in every part of my life…I am more at peace with myself. Try it…you will like it!!!!!!!

  • Doc Sarvis

As long as Glen Beck, or anyone else, does not specify what religon is acceptable then he would be correct that that would be better for America.

    • Kinetic1

Time and time again, Beck has made it clear that it is the Christian God to which he refers. With David Barton at his side to explain how every one of our founding fathers was a solid Christian, Beck sells the idea that only a strong, fundamental Christian leadership will save us. It’s hard to watch someone profess such devotion to our nations “true” history, the memory of it’s founders and the constitution while he walks all over them.

      • David

Walks all over the founder???? Please explain and give an example.

      • Jana

        Kinectic1,
Then you haven’t listened to Beck, as he has said what ever your faith is, and he has stated Synagogue, Temple, Mosque Church etc.

Its funny how people’s own words reveal so much.

      • Kinetic1

        Please read down a few.

      • Michael J.

        Kenatic1,
You said,”With David Barton at his side to explain how every one of our founding fathers was a solid Christian”. Actually Beck explains that the vast majority of the founders were Judeo / Christian.

And also, “Walks all over the founders”? You should listen to Beck yourself instead of parroting Matthews, Olbermann or Maddow.

      • Lynda B.

1Corithians 1:25 For what seems to be God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and what seems to be God’s weakness is stronger than human strength. Good News Bible.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. kjv.

This Country was founded on the principles of God. Weather one chooses to believe in Jesus Christ is a chose, but that does not change the fact that this government was very involved with Christianity. This Nation has tried to remove Jesus Christ and Christian values from everything and allowed anything and everything else to proceed at will. Man has tried to blame our problems on everything and everyone, but the fact is, we have turned our backs on the God that has blessed this country. Call me shallow or anything you prefer, but I will take the Word of Almighty God over anyone’s worldly knowledge or insight. I believe there is one God and only one God, and I also believe that Glenn Beck is speaking to the whole nation to the point that we do have that right to choose. God gives us that right. Until this nation turns back to God there will be no peace or prosperity.

      • Christin

Lynda B. so right. Thanks for the Bible verses especially loved Proverbs 29:2.

        Proverbs 29: 2

“When the righteous are in authority,
        the people rejoice;
        but when the wicked rule,
        the people groan.”

We are groaning folks and we are miserable… the wicked are ruling.

It is an ALL call back to our Judeo/Christian heritage to serve and worship our Almighty God and he will bless our faithfulness.

      • Kinetic1

        Michael J.
I listen to beck often. In fact, I have three of his shows on my DVR right now. I often find myself learning a thing or two from Beck, only to find that he is leading to a conclusion that leaves me questioning when he switched trains.

As to my comments regarding Beck and Barton, as I have stated before, this idea that there is ample proof of, say Jefferson’s actual belief in Christianity is bunk. Barton holds up a document signed by Jefferson that reads “in the year of our lord, Jesus” and states that this and hundreds of others were written in his own hand. This “proof” is a shipping manifest, a pre printed fill in the blank form. The design of the forms was the same for decades and reflected the style of many countries. All Jefferson, or for that matter Washington, Madison and Adams did was to sign in the correct spot. His “hundreds of examples” reflects that fact that these were all the same form and prove nothing. On the other hand, Jefferson wrote time and again about his indifference for the church and his belief that the church should not be involved in our government. That they chose to ignore as secular propaganda.

So how do they walk on our founders and the Constitution? God was left out of the Constitution for a reason. Our founders agreed that the Federal Government should never adopt an official religion, and yet these two men, along with many other guests continue to proclaim that this is a Christian nation founded on the words of the Bible. They argue that our founders were speaking of Christian sects, not Christianity in general, ignoring our founders own words with regards to “Musselmen” and others. They ignore the words of documents like the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli which reads “As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion…” In their quest to bring us all into the fold, they threaten the very document they profess to defend.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Kinnetic,
how then, do you explain that Jefferson held services in the capitol building??? Many religeons most were CHRISTIAN!!!

      • Jana

        Kinectic,
You asked me on another post what I knew about your faith. From this very post we all know quite a lot about what you believe. You are a great writer of many words.

      • Kinetic1

Perhaps, Jana, but my religion has nothing to do with history. Whether I am Christian, Bahai or Deist I firmly believe, as did many of our founders that no one religion should be espoused by our government. There will always be moral issues that Americans disagree about, but the basic rules of life are universal. Neither my religion or yours is necessary to govern.

      • http://gunner689 gunner689

        Kinetic1:
you’ve brought up a very good point; the Treaty of Tripoli.
The reason that treaty exisits is then as now Muslims were a bunch of blood thirsty cretins who got their ass handed to them by the United States Marine Cops; my alma mater.

      • Freeme

It is very difficult for those immersed in indoctrination education to get to the truth via REAL historical data. Instead of reading and listening to the HISTORIANS who have spent their lives RESEARCHING REAL DOCUMENTS from LIBRARY OF CONGRESS ARCHIVES, they would rather take the word of some mainstream media joker, than to LEARN THE TRUTH.
Beck has had many guests on his show who know what they’re talking about regarding Founding Fathers, but isnt it so much easier to watch an HBO series on John Adams and NOT QUESTION how much was truth vs. fiction? Young Americans are so dumbed down in History it is pathetic, nor do they have a clue what The Constitution is or how important it ‘could be’ to them if ONLY they KNEW. NO WHERE IN THE CONSITUTION does it mention “separation of church and State”…
That was invented by atheists and/or agnostic Commie-type think, (and supported by commie-founders of ACLU) to dissolve religions and churches, which is also part of the Universities Indoctrination Agenda. RESEARCH for truth…it will set you free.

      • Lubo

        Excellent commentary!

      • marvin

the seperation of church and state was from a letter wrote to the danbury babtist from jefferson

      • Christin

Marvin is right on this one.
Jefferson was in England when he wrote that, but he did not intend on it meaning what the liberal hate groups ( AFL-CIO, ACLU, athiest, homosexual agenda) have twisted it to become today.

      • Angel Wannabe

Freeme, your right, there is no claus stating a separation between church and state, if someone found one, it was probably in Wiki, where ANYONE can haphazardly change the truth to lies and vis versaM at will.

      • J. Overstreet

You obviously do not watch his show. Let me point this out: Glenn Beck is a Mormon and many, many Christians see Momonism as a cult. He says almost every day “whoever you call God”. He had Pastors, Priests, Rabbis, AND Imams standing with him at the podium.(And there may have been a Buddist as well, but I’m not positive about this.) They had a prayer meeting together the night before.
One thing that is missing in this country is the freedom to talk about your faith. I personally have been severly come against as have my children and I assure you I am not an in your face Christian. I want both sides told and we in America – especially in education – are not given that right. BTW I am a teacher on a reservation and there is more tolerence here than anywhere I have been and my dad was in the USAF. I can actually wear a cross here and not worry about losing my job. This was not so in Portland OR.
My point is that we talk about choice all the time, but are come against when we make a different one. Mr. Beck is encouraging us to stand against these things -AFTER WE GET OUR OWN HEARTS RIGHT!!!

      • http://reply C. Taylor

If we could rid this country of the ACLU and lots of other self serving organizations, all of us could regain our God given rights as well as those in the US Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Only then will we be truly free.

      • AMJ

Since I was about 15 years old (30 years ago) I have believed the ACLU is the Devil’s playground. He makes a lot of progress with that group.

      • Karolyn

I think the ACLU started out good. Now it’s just too extreme. However, I’m sure they do some good.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Karolyn,
Sorry, it seems I am picking on you and I’m really not. I disagree as any good the ACLU does is outweighed a thousand times by the BAD!!! they have made it possible for child molesters to go free to commit again, killers go free to kill again, and have argued AGAINST the constitution many times!!!

      • http://gunner689 gunner689

The ACLU was founded by American communists whose agenda was to subvert and incrementally destroy American democracy and freedom. They’ve done a hell of a good job of it to.

      • kate8

        J. O, Thanks for that post.

How outrageous that the Christian taxpayer has to pay to glorify Ilam in schools, provide footbaths and prayer rooms in schools and public places, and show all kinds of preference for Islam, while forbidding a Christian from wearing a cross!

        Satan has been very busy.

      • Angel Wannabe

kate 8. yes satan’s been busy, but America’s gettin on the ball now, with alot of TRUE spiritual leaders.

      • kate8

        Angel, God always wins.

Maybe He just lets us go so far so we can see what a miserable lot we are without Him.

We just keep repeating the same mistakes over and over….

      • kate8

BTW, God always raises people up in His time. It is usually the ones you’d least expect, too. They are not usually the religious leaders, as in clergy. They often have questionable pasts, but respond to His calling. Just look at the heros of the Bible.

Proclaiming God’s Truth is a scary place to be. Not many have the courage to place themselves as a target of the evil power-mongers. Glenn needs our prayers for the safety of him and his family.

      • Angel Wannabe

kate 8, oddly enough my husband an I were talking about the same basic thing a little while ago (it’s alittle deep).. I believe, We are all, each of us in a different place spiritually. Each on a different plane. Some are farther than others, in our own comprehension & walk with Christ. I think it depends largely on what we’ve been through as individuals, our perception, our sensitivity, and our willingness to study Gods word, to just go be still for a time, shut your mind off, and listen.

      • Angel Wannabe

kate8, I have a sayin I’ve used for years, I always say “God uses the stinkers in life”__It doesn’t mattter where ya been, what you’ve done, how bad ya been if we’re called, we pick up our cross and begin again!

      • Kinetic1

What schools are you talking about? Certainly not any that my kids have attended.

      • kate8

Kinetic, I don’t know where you live, but it’s in textbooks all over the nation. Islam is painted as a great religion, and Christianity is portrayed as war-mongering and backward.

Here in CA, grade-school students were required to dress in Islamic garb and observe Muslim practice, like praying 5 times a day. Parents were outraged, but no one really cares what parents think anymore. In fact, a district court in CA just ruled that parents have no right to question, or even know, what their kids are being taught. Once they are enrolled in public school, they become property of the state.

      • Kinetic1

        Kate8,
My children have attended public schools in both northern and southern California. I have always been involved in their schools and I have NEVER heard of such a thing. The closest we came was when my daughter wore a dreidel costume and they added a Kwanzaa song to our Christmas program. I have searched for articles about the practices you mentioned, but nothing comes up. Can you direct me to some proof?

      • kate8

Kinetic, This issue has been in and out of the news, and addressed by partental rights groups off an on over the past 2 or 3 years. There has been quite a furor over it at times, in fact.

The school text and exercises have been exposed and hotly debated. They have been reproduced and plastered over information sites, for anyone to read about.

If you haven’t paid attention enough to know what has gone on, it is not my responsibility to do the research for you, and I don’t have time for it, anyway. If you care enough, you’ll do it on your own.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        kate8,
there was a college in the news awhile back thatrecieves government funds that had to install seperate dressingroom ans shower facilities for Muslim girls as it was against their beliefs to be “viewed by non-believers! Also, it was revealed that a college in one Michigan town wastold they had to interupt classes if the holy time of prayer was during class!! I wonder where the liberals holy seperation of church and state is in these examples???

      • Bruce D.

There is nothing wrong for Beck to express and profess his religion. David Barton has researched the relationship with the ‘founders’ and their religious beliefs. There is nothing wrong with that. Obama has credited Muslims with Americas rise to knowledge and prosperity. Why would you not allow Beck or Barton to make associations also. Beck is a firm believer in freedom of religion and the constitution. Anyone that says different Kinetic1 just does not know what they are talking about.

      • Robert Smith

From Kinetic1: >>>With David Barton at his side to explain how every one of our founding fathers was a solid Christian,<<<

Bunk. Franklin was all but an atheist. Jefferson had little to do with Jesus.

      • Bruce D.

Bob you should be ashamed of yourself for slandering a great man like Ben Frankland in that way. It is true he had a child out of wedlock but you cannot find any writings during his time to make the statement you did. You are just part of this mindless anti-American trite from the liberal left.

      • Bruce D.

        Robert,
You are misinformed about both Franklin and Jefferson. They were not atheists, they were deists. This is common knowledge. There certainly were not anti-christain or anti-god as you appear to be.

      • Robert Smith

Hey Bruce D… You sure do need a fact injection. Haven’t you ever heard of the Jefferson Bible?

Google it or go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_Bible

From that article: >>>Using a razor, Jefferson cut and arranged selected verses from the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in chronological order, mingling excerpts from one text to those of another in order to create a single narrative. Thus he begins with Luke 2 and Luke 3, then follows with Mark 1 and Matthew 3. He provides a record of which verses he selected and of the order in which he arranged them in his “Table of the Texts from the Evangelists employed in this Narrative and of the order of their arrangement.”

The Jefferson Bible begins with an account of Jesus’s birth without references to angels, genealogy, or prophecy. Miracles, references to the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus, and Jesus’ resurrection are also absent from the Jefferson Bible.[5] The work ends with the words: “Now, in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus. And rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.” These words correspond to the ending of John 19 in the Bible.

        [edit] Publication history
After completion of the Life and Morals, about 1820, Jefferson shared it with a number of friends, but he never allowed it to be published during his lifetime.

The most complete form Jefferson produced was inherited by his grandson, Thomas Jefferson Randolph, and was published in 1895 by the National Museum in Washington.

The book was later published as a lithographic reproduction by an act of the United States Congress in 1904. For many years copies were given to new members of Congress.[6] The text is in the public domain and freely available on the Internet.<<<

I did not say he was a Christian Robert. I said he was a Deist. I was aware of that writing but never read. Not believing in Christianity and openly being hostile towards it and/or God are two different things Robert.

      • mj

The thing speaks for itself. We were once a blessed nation, we are now on the verge of becoming a third world(cursed).

      • libertytrain

It kind of just struck me (clearly not a lightening bolt from God) that perhaps what Beck is doing is making it ok for Christians to once again speak out in public — as the Muslims are allowed to do in the name of political correctness – perhaps Beck is just retaking a stance Christians seem to have lost in the last several years, in full view of the public, that’s it is indeed ok to say, I believe in God, I believe in Christ – And making it politically correct once again, to be a Christian out loud, to pray in public – I’m just thinking out loud here too….

      • Christin

I don’t think this was his original intent, liberty train, but it is a great by-product. We have been shut up for too long… more than a decade or so. Freedom to have our First Amendment Rights back again.

I believe Glenn’s original intent was as he has said all along to “Restore Honor” in ourselves and give “merit” to those who actually earn it with their selfless actions. We must return to God with our families and get right with Him, then we can stand on God’s side and do His will.

      • http://www.cafepress.com/TradThoughts UnPCdMOM

        I agree that could be

but he is also ‘in recovery’ where one of the steps forward is believing in and turning things over to a Higher Power (aka God in many people’s upbringing)

A return to the Golden Rule and 10 Commandments would not hurt anyone in America.

Having separate rules. laws and ‘justice’ for different groups is killing the American Dream and the dividing our Nation.

I hope that GOD BLESSES AMERICA again, we have much work in cleansing ourselves and uniting under all things good, for that to happen. Each of us bears a responsibility for our own life nut also to family, God and country.

      • kate8

libertytrain, Do you notice how the left always seeks to denigrate and crush the status quo in the name of providing “equality” for the minorities?

They feel the need to slap down “whitey” in order to elevate blacks. They need to destroy Christianity in order to allow Islam to flourish.

How does this make any sense? What happened to freedom for all?

What appears to some to be “civil rights” is nothing more than a deceptive tool for enslavement for all.

Never has worked to create anything good. Never will. And good is not the reason for which it is intended.

      • libertytrain

When I was younger I didn’t think that way, but at 18 or so when I was looking for employment, I lost out specifically, and was told specifically, because they needed to hire a person of color so they would not be deemed racist – yep, I think that light started to turn on in my brain back then. Yes, perhaps I’m a little slow but there sure have been many observations over the years that smacked of cow manure being served to we the people…

You obviously don’t live in the South. When I first moved here, it floored me that people at the cash registers, on completion of your transaction, would say “Have a blest day.” It is quite the opposite here. • Karolyn

Robert -Why can you not respect others’ spiritual beliefs? Being Christian does not automatically make one right and good, just like being Muslim doesn’t make one a terrorist.

      • kate8

Karolyn, It’s not about religion. It’ about how we conduct our lives. The principles of truth, honor, respect, compassion, love…just happen to come straight out of Judeo-Christian teachings. Actually practising these virtues would save us.

If a religion teaches that one should force others into conversion or kill them, then I really don’t want those folks as my neighbors.

      • Karolyn

Absolutely. And I will say it again. Not all Muslims are terrorists and want to kill the infidel. Actually, I just saw on TV yesterday where someone is starting an advertising campaign spotlighting Muslim-Americans talking about how much they love this country. They showed a few clips, and one was of a bunch of cute kids – just like any cute Christian kids.

      • Christin

That is nothing more than a cheap(?) advertising stunt to drum up support for the ground zero vicinity, (there i said it for all the bleeding hearts)Mosque!!! That has even been revealed on the alphabets!!!

      • Karolyn

Joe – I strongly disagree. I believe it’s an attempt for human beings to try to get the message across that they are people too and deserve to live a peaceful and safe life. BTW – the proposed center will not be a mosque and only has $10,000 raised so far out of the millions they need.

  • s c

Beck needs to be very careful with this topic. You can bet that every possible religious option has been fully analyzed and calculated by those who pull the strings of our ‘leaders.’ About the worst thing Beck can do is to step up and try to be seen as a religious leader.
For now, it’s enough to make Americans understand that government and God don’t mix. If the two are ever successfully merged, Hitler’s Germany will seem like wholesome family entertainment by comparison.

    • Claire

S C — I agree with your comment. Beck must be careful when mixing religion with politics. This could very well backfire on him.

      • Nella

I think what u are both missing is that this is a call to the person. This is a call to a religious revival of a personal nature. It is really not political.
I believe what this is really about is what is missing from a lot of kitchen tables. A personal relationship with God…not just punching in your card on Sundays but a daily personal relationship. Then things will Change for the good because it will be His will not ours.
I found it AWESOME to see all the different faiths’ together! The message was VERY clear to those who were Listening.

      • Victoria DeLacy

I was there and it was indeed a call of the nation back to God – a few Baptist pastors joined in the week-end events, and the spirit of the occasion was in keeping with II Chronicles 7:14, which calls upon the people of every nation to repent as individuals and be drawn back to the Lord’s will for our lives as well as the collective future. Being a mother of 6 adults and grandmother of 9 more Americans, it’s my hope the nation finds spiritual restoration soon – that is our touchstone to future growth and national survival.

God and Politics have nothing to do with one another. Using religion is just a way to influence people by tapping into their belief structure and it’s the oldest kind of manipulation.

      • Angel Wannabe

Yes they do, Dave,It’s amatter of choice wether you want to believ it or not. Prayer has been a part of politics & Country for hundreds of years. Worshiping either gods or God. In the Bible, Pharaoh prayed to the under lord, to restore life to his son, when the first Born of Egyptians we’re killed, as prophesied by Moses. Pharaoh lost his battle and kingdom, and admitted, that the GOD that Moses revered, is Lord. Moses then led the people out of bondage.

      • Nina

Hate to break it to you, but this nation was founded on Godly principles, and it was freedom of religion that caused the settlers to leave Europe and come here. Religion has everything to do with
leading this country, and it’s the lack of recognition of God that’s brought us down the path that we are now struggling with. Research American history, where do you think the terms “One Nation Under God” or ” In God we Trust” came from.

      • kate8

Dave, the left uses this tactic. Their religion is secular humanism, global warming and the green movement.

This leftist movement is every bit as threatening and dangerous to our freedoms as is Islam. The “true believers” are abslolutely fanatic, fascistic, and power-crazed.

This nation as coexisted with Christianity since it’s inception, and it has caused America to prosper as each understood its boundaries.

This is no longer the case. Christian principles have been marginalized and a “new religion” has come forward. But this “new” religion worships the creation, not the Creator. While Christ taught us how to be free, this new movement seeks to enslave.

The left always uses the cry for the “greater good” as their clarion call. But we can be sure that “good” is not what they have in store for the masses. It’s based on lies, deception, and fear. These are tools of evil.

      • Karolyn

Dave – It’s not religion; it’s spirituality. If everyone lived according to their own true spiritual nature, we would be in the Garden of Eden.

      • Claire

Karolyn–You are correct. It is spirituality and this is great. However, I wonder what the method behind his madness is. Did Beck find God? Has he changed? From spewing hateful diatribe to suddenly becoming redeemed? I make no joke about religion, I am a firm believer in God, but with the way the world is and the way the talk show hosts conduct themselves now and in the past, it does make me wonder about the sincerity.

      • Karolyn

That’s something I’ve been wondering. Apparently, he changed his tactics in mid-stream. What was going to be a political rally changed, probably because of the negative publicity regarding the date having been the anniversary of Dr. King’s big rally.

      • Kinetic1

        Nina,
Some groups did indeed come to America fleeing religious intolerance, but most came here for business. I realize that our schools give the most attention to the Plymouth pilgrims, but they were a very small part of our founding. Most ironic is the fact that, once here they were among the most religiously intolerant of all the colonies! No matter what the truth is, the fables of the founding and growth of our country as one based firmly in Christianity will be stressed by the churches and folks like Beck and David Barton.

As for our government, there is a reason that our founders left God out of the Constitution. And to those who point to the church’s involvement in other governments, look at the trouble it caused. It is that same interaction between the church and England’s monarchy that lead our leaders to fear the effects religion would have if allowed into our own government.

      • Jana

        Karolyn and Claire,
I don’t think he did change his plans all of a sudden like you think. He has been talking this way now for the last year, as he had even said in some of his programs last year that he was going to be changing things and moving more towards the Lord and His view. He wasn’t even sure it would be accepted, and he has been very surprised.
Personally I think God has called him to do this at this particular time as God will use any willing vessel, and thankfully Beck is a willing vessel. A willing vessel here is any willing person.
Beck has been under attack for his stand, but anytime someone stands for Truth, honor or God, they expect to be ridiculed and scorned by those who do not understand.

Really? What other faiths were with Beck other than fundimentalist right wing "christians?"

        Rob

      • Granny Mae

        Robert Smith,

There were Muslims there ! I understand there were many different faiths there. But then what different does that make? It is the message that was important. Beck knows as well as many of the rest of us that there is just beginning to come a time when this country is going to be hurting. By that I mean the people in this country and there will be many of us that will have nothing but our faith in God to turn to. By turning to God and the christian principals we may be able to keep for being over run by anarcy. I am seeing these problems surfacing in my own neighborhood and also with some in my extended family. There are people out there without jobs that have not been able to collect unemployment or get on welfare because these programs are broke and those that are already on it seem to be grandfathered in so to speak ! In just this past month I have had to care for two different families and am in the process of just such a thing right now with a young man who came to my door about 3 days ago. He left his young family so they would have more in food stamps to feed themselves instead of trying to feed him too. My father-in-law had that same thing happen to him when he was going through the depression. He had to leave his family so they would have enough to eat ! People wake up, we are going into this thing and you better know how to handle it and do it in a Christian way or we are all in a lot of trouble. I urge all of you to please, if you know of someone that is in trouble like this at least make them a sandwich and take it too them. There is nothing wrong with Christian kindness and by that kindness you may be the one that turns the light on in the mind of someone else that doesn’t know what it is to be a Christian. It is time to stop questioning the motives of Glenn Beck and start listening to the message. He doen’t have to put himself up before all the ridicule, or live with all the threats on his life and the lives of his family so that he can be mis-understood by the rest of us. He is trying to allert you to a situation that is coming and is infact upon us and is urging us to turn our attention back to our faiths. When you have nothing else you still have your faith ! He asked for people of all different faiths to stand with him to show unity in joining together and reaching out a hand to people of all faiths, and yes even those of you with no faith. If you can get by without a faith in God , well good for you, but don’t sit back and ridicule those of us that do rely on our faith.

      • Granny Mae

Oh yes I believe I heard that there were Hindu’s there too!

You are right about Beck crossing the line, but I “think” he has enough people watching his back, to help him. He has been given the gift of a great leader for us and lead us on. It will be the others out there and the govt that is going to try to dismantle him. They are the ones he has to watch. We also have to watch those in govt. that are fighting to keep “our” people from getting into office up tthere. Just pray for him and what he’s trying to take on and move forward.

    • Gino

Your reply to Mr. Beck is blind and shallow. You only need to look at the founding fathers to get a real glimse how our Christian God was respected by our very Presidents. Did you know the White House itself was used for church and prayer groups, that were led by some of our very own Presidents? Its been that way until recently approx. 30 to 40 yrs. ago. Every decision you or anyone else makes is based on your beliefs. There is no shame in that. You and all who read this may want to go through a tour of the White house using David Barton as your tour guide. Or simpley contact him your self via phone.

      • Angel Wannabe

Gino, David Barton is a true gift from God, he is a walking history book. I have a few of his books from wall builders.

      • Kinetic1

Before you consider Barton a “gift”, research his books. Much of what he espouses as the “history of our nation” is based on false assumptions and fake documents. While there is no doubt that most, if not all of our founders were raised in one form of Christian church or another, evidence shows that their adherence to and involvement in these religions was often far less than claimed by the likes of Barton.

      • Angel Wannabe

kinetic1, don’t bother buddy, already verified, and his history is original and NOT revised, like yours is, thanks!

      • Kinetic1

If you choose to accept his word with blinders on, that is your right, but the very words of our founders often discredit him.

      • Granny Mae

        Kinetic1,

      • Karolyn

Why does “Christian” have to be used as an adjective in front of God? God is God.

      • Jana

Kaolyn, Christian stands for Christ like. God sent His Son to teach and show us how to live, then Jesus Christ became the sacrifice for our sins.
Christian doesn’t mean we are like Christ, it means we strive to be like Christ, although most of us fail, but He is our advocate to our Heavenly Father.

I agree that Glenn Beck does need to be careful how he goes about a revival, but I disagree that government should not be mixed with religion. What he accomplished was amazing. I only wish I could have been there! And, I am confident that there are thousands just like me who would have been there if they could. It was inspiring and awesome to know how many people all feel the same. Taking God out of our government is only leading us in a direction that is not successful, as we are experiencing. He was not advocating any certain religion, other than proclaiming that we need to strengthen our relationship with God.

    • marvin

you do know that religion and christianty are not allways the same thing, vodo, witch craft and the likes, are all so religions,,just because you are religulous don,t say you belive in one god

      • Jeanne

Use spell check for a more believable comment.

      • Jana

Actually, Marvin is right. They call it religion, but it really is a turning back to the One True God, not a religion. There are many false ‘religions’ floating around. What Beck is calling for is a coming back to the knowledge and the praying for guidance to The One True God, our Heavenly Father.

Christianity is a way of life, just the same as Islamism is a way of life. You cannot separate a believer of Islam from his lifestyle, no more than you can a Christian from his lifestyle. you either are or you aren’t. It influences you in how you vote and how you act and how you conduct your whole life. Of course it would influence our politics. Again I will state the separation of church and state was not to protect our Government from religion, but to protect religion what ever it be from the Governments intervention or taking it over.

      • Claire

Jana—Very wise words. I agree with your comments. You hit the nail on the head. Literally.

      • Kinetic1

History shows us that if government is not protected from religion, then religion will not be protected from Government. Most of the first 13 had a state religion. The result was that those who were not members of that religion were often ostracized and driven out. Many Americans consider this to e a Christian country, but if and when Christianity is allowed to become the “official” church of the USA, all religions will suffer.

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

Great post, Jana! I find it interesting that there are those who can claim Christianity, prayer, etc., “violates” their “religious” beliefs and they are catered too by the ACLU and other groups. I agree with your comments and will add this: I don’t believe in abortion (for the sake of birth control or irresponsible behavior)….abortion violates my own religious beliefs, yet the government feels it’s okay to use my tax dollars to pay for abortions (forcing my indirect support for something that is against my religious belief). If the government wants to use my tax dollars, then maybe they should not pay for abortions with tax payer dollars…funny how the government and FLL’s don’t seem to mind when the religious beliefs of Christians are violated.

I personally feel Beck is human (flawed like the rest of humanity) and I believe his ralley was a good thing. He has just as much right to hold a ralley as any other group…and I hope he has more rallies, close enough so I can attend.

        Fed Up Gal,
There was an article I read the other day titled “Is Abortion Dumbing Down Society?” It stated that the people with a truely high IQ only make up about 2% of the population and the writer wondered how many Eiensteins or Salks, or Pasteures we have lost to abortion. At only 2% of the abortions since they became legal, it would stand that we have lost over one million geniuses!!! To all of the natural cure people out there this means that the person that could have found a natural cure for all disease may have been aborted!!! Think of it!!

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Joe H,

Wow…..that sounds like a good article. Can you post the link here?

There Jana, you nailed it; “influence on how you vote”. Do the majority of politicians not pretend to be christians, so that they can get your votes? Think about it folks

      • Christin

Yes, Marie Mandel, I think you are right…the politicians have been pretending to be Christians because they know that is important to us as believers. They know we are looking for good leaders with character and integrity, morals (principles) and values.
Spot on… we have been fooled haven’t we?

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Fed Up Gal,
I found the article. It was an editorial from a man named Mike Zuren of Lake County Ohio. In it he states that there have been approx. 52,000,000 abortions since Roe VS Wade. According to standford-Binet IQ scoring system, a genius is in the 140 or higher IQ. those make up only 2.2% of the population.potentially over one million people that would have obtained this status have been aborted since 1973. what would the effect of this on the world be? Surely, technology would be at a sustainably higher leveladdressing medical advancements, quality of life, environmental concerns, food supplies (poverty), energy needs, and potentially all worldwide concerns. If abortions were as accepted and as readily available as today in the United States, Einsteins contributions to physics, Gates development of the personal computer, and Edison’s inventive brilliance may never have happened. Even at superior levels of IQ, individuals creativity capabilities are focused in specific fields. Genius has typically been expressed in an individual’s specific capacity for reason, therefore each individual offers their own extraordinary contribution to transform mankind with their unique abilities.
This is just an excerpt of the piece but it gives you a good idea of what it says and the idea it tries to communicate!!!

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

      • kate8

Marie, I do not agree with your assessment of most of the bloggers on this site. We are not anti-(the things you said), nor are we haters.

We are not anti-government but, rather, FOR our Republic as built upon our Constitutional framework. We are not anti-ethnicity but, rather, FOR equality and the rule of law. Not some are more equal than others, not preferencial rights, but freedom of choice. As for gays, we are not anti-gay, but rather, FOR all of us doing our own thing without having someone else force their ways on us and our children.

If people want to come to America LEGALLY, let them embrace our culture and not force us to bow to theirs.

For you on the left to insist that, because we want to preserve our liberty and way of life, this somehow makes us “haters” is absurd, and very tedious. Our nation is falling because our culture and our morality has been attacked and dismantled and, apparently, you libs have not yet been able to figure that out.

        Robert Smith and Karolyn,

If I misunderstood your comments, I apologize; however, if your answer is yes…..I believe that equates to thievery….and it is sad that many Americans pass this dirty job off to their elected officials….leaving their own hands…clean (in their minds). It is still thievery, regardless of the “thief” or the “accomplice”.

Don’t you think it’s more reasonable that everyone pay a fair (equal) percentage of their income toward taxes? Hmmmmm….five, ten or fifteen percent of nothing is “nothing”…and five, ten or fifteen percent of a lot is………hmmmmmmm…..a “lot” more.

The point is, while I may wish I was more financially “set”, that does not mean I’m justified in having politicians steal from those wealthier to divvy up to me or to those less financially off than me. Again, a percentage of nothing is nothing and a percentage of a lot more, is a lot more.

Just saying…..My only vehicle is a 14 yr old SUV and I’ve never been able to deduct anything on taxes for the SUV…..so not sure where you are going with your comment; maybe you can expound a bit on that.

I realize there’s a need for a tax base (for infrastructure and things that everyone must use); however, our current taxation policy is rediculous and makes fools out of all of us. A reasonable tax plan should incorporate the same tax rate percentage for everyone…..as I’ve said before….5, 10 or 15% of nothing is nothing….5, 10, or 15% of a lot more is a lot more.

There should not be a different tax rate for anyone; everyone’s tax rate/percentage should be the same. It seems that would also take into consideration the “at” and “below” poverty line as well that you referenced.

You may want to look further into the Fair Tax plan (approx 23% effective rate). It seems to me, to be the most reasonable tax plan out there, because it seems to level the playing field….for all players. Here’s a link to view information about what the current tax code is really costing tax payers:

        http://www.fairtax.org/site/DocServer/What_the_federal_tax_system_is_costing_you-Tax_complianc.pdf?docID=7581

Once in the [fairtax.org] site, you should be able to navigate to find more information about the fair tax plan, questions raised by critics and answers to those questions.

For the record, I have a small rental property which I am able to receive some tax deductions for. Thus far, the tax deductions do help me keep the rents affordable for tenants; however, with the recent property tax increase in my state (all while property values have declined)…I may not be able maintain the property at the current rental rates…time will tell. With a fair tax code, I feel it would benefit not only me….it would benefit my tenants as well since I could afford to make improvements and upgrades to the property while keeping the rents affordable. Just my thought!

Glen Beck says that he definatly does not have any desire to run for office. So..he’s free to be as Out Spoken about God as he chooses to.

    • alpha-lemming

Very true. But, to educate/ripen/progress without instilling morals (religious tenets) is to create the WORST kind of monster. Honor has been lost to politics/politicians for a VERY LONG TIME.

I’ll make a “blanket assertion” and lay the moral decline solely at the feet of Dems. Republicans have been caught mis-behaving, the party is branded as hypocrits (by the left), and the voters remove the violators from office. Arguably, three of the most popular libs in recent memory… one’s a rapist, one’s a murderer, one’s an uber-racist… not only survived their “peccadillos”, they enhanced their resumes and became super-stars among their amoral accolytes. By comparison, lying, cheating and stealing is such “small potatoes”, it hardly warrants mentioning. The ends justify the means. The scummier the behavior, the bigger the super-star status, and the reason the Dems (progressive/lib/Marxists) own “lock, stock, & barrel” the “Biggest A-holes on the Planet Award”.

Small wonder why an “Honor Rally” is considered novel/revolutionary.

      • kate8

alpha, There has always been a double-standard when it comes to the left. Republicans have been forced out by only the appearance of misconduct, without even proof.

No one expects exemplary behavior from the left. They shed a tear on occasion, ask for forgiveness, and get promoted.

Nowdays they don’t even really do that. They simply deny it, and go on as usual.

Unfortunately, the right has become hijacked by progressives as well, so the difference between the two is narrowing. That is why they all need to go.

      • Robert Smith

From kate8: >>>No one expects exemplary behavior from the left.<<<

Absolutely true, and I hope it continues that way. They aren't hypocrits about their behavior.

Barny Frank is an excellent example. There isn't anything wrong with being gay. He was honest about it. He's been kept in Congress by folks who appreciate where he STANDS on ISSUES, not who he LAYS with.

Those on the extreme right hide who they are. What else are they lying about?

Despite the rhetoric concerning what the secular belief system, the media, and left-wing propaganda try to ram down the throats of Americans in so so many different ways and on many different levels…You are completely wrong! What Glen should ONLY worry about is getting shot by some anti-God, left wing lunatic!

We need someone who will have the courage to talk about the very thing that is needed: “Restoring Honor.” And if that means talking about God, well oh well…

      • Karolyn

I would think that Beck has less of a chance getting shot by a liberal than the president has getting shot by a conservative. In my observation, it seems that more people hate Obama than Beck. Beck is not hated but just viewed as a rabble rousing extremist buffoon. BTW Anne, where in Jersey do you live? I’m from central Jersey (all my life) up til 5 years ago.

      • libertytrain

Gunner, Sounds to me like your thinking with the little head again!

      • Christin

        I disagree…
Beck IS HATED by the radical left as he is exposing their “Crime Inc.” and talking about God/ Jesus. Glenn has been threatened (he wore a bullet proof vest to the Restoring Honor Rally)and several of obama’s “friends” have conspired to take him down (to lose commercial sponsors, discredit FOX, and find “sex dirt”on him) and ruin his reputation and livelihood. The left behaves like an angry mob throwing things, hitting and biting those that do not agree with them, and busing in people to raise cain on people’s front porch if they so wish. Riot police are constantly brought in and many arrests are made at protests.

Whereas, obama is despised by the conservative right for over-riding the Constitution of the United States of America, taking away their Freedoms and Rights, growing expensive gov, growing the debt, forcing obamacare, cap & trade, net neutrality, strong arming/threatening Banks, CEO’s…appoligizing for America world wide and not calling us a Christian nation… (I could go on forever). The right behaves well and there is never a call for riot police and no arrests are made. Conservative protests and rallies have been pleasent and people are polite.

Which group of people would you feel safe in…

      • Karolyn

Gee, it’s too bad that we have a superhuman president who is responsible for all the ills in our country and who can also fix everything with a wave of his hand if he so wished. So why did all these crazy, hateful liberals not show up and spoil the day? It really is something that liberals are responsible for every evil there is. Wow! On the other hand, Christian conservatives never do wrong and get all their info straight from the mouth of God. Their battle cry is “Onward Christian Soldiers” and they are without sin, shining in their armour on white stallions. The liberals are all dressed in BLACK (the DEVIL’s color!) and are on black stallions.

        Get real.

      • Christin

        An angry response as always.
It’s okay if we don’t agree.

        BTW
A superhuman would not have ills!

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Christin,
I agree with you about Beck. There was even a group that started a web site that stated that he was guilty of raping a girl!!! this came about right after he exposed Van Jones’s being a communist. They said he presented false proof when he did it so it was O.K. for them to present false things about him!! Never mind that he presented solid proof in Jones, own words!!!! I wouldn’t put an attempt on Glenns life past people like that as they KNEW what they were saying was false and it could ruin his life!!!

      • kate8

Actually, there were some leftwing plants that showed up at the Beck rally. They tried to make trouble, but the people there surrounded them and chanted “we’ll pray for you, we’ll pray for you”.

The lefties didn’t have a prayer, so to speak.

      • Christin

Joe H., I did not know that about the attack website with false info on Glenn. It is ashame that wrong is not punished on the left as it would be on the right.
Nor did I know that the Lefty’s showed up to cause trouble at Glenn’s Rally, kate8. It seems the people handled it well, though.

        Thanks for the info.

      • Karolyn

Kat – I would disagree with the word “plants” unless there’s proof. When we start using words like that, I think it’s unnecessary goading.

      • kate8

Karolyn, Beck reported on the leftys who were there to make trouble. They were routed out and asked to leave.

I have no reason to believe Glenn was untruthful about that. It’s all on video.

There are leftist groups, like those from ACORN and SEIU who have routinely attended these types of events to try to make the attendees look bad. Some of it has made the news, but was revealed as “plants”.

The fact is, Karolyn, that radical leftists do this as part of their “work”. Just as they come and hammer us on these threads. They are angry and spiteful, and seek to disrupt the plans of those who want to bring back our Republic.

Generally, although the right may vehemently disagree with the actions of the left, and even see them as dangerous, they do not try to stop them from speaking. The left, on the other hand, tries every tactic up to, and including, legislating them into silence.

Now, you tell me is the greater threat.

      • Marie Mandel

        Christin are you on drugs?

      • kate8

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Marie Mandel,

Well….if Christin is on drugs….I won’t what she ordered….better than the peyote you seem to be smoking.

      • JeffH

Christin, I can agree with your take on Beck, spot on, but I feel the beggest problem with Obama, other than his Marxist/Socialist/communist roots and agenda, is that he has taken the hand-off from previous administrations(Repub & Dem)and is running at top speed to destroy our country and ultimately put America under the hands of global rule. Disinchantment with previous administrations have created the national discourse we see towards our government. It is more apparent every day that he’s a puppet, unable to lead anything but the sheeple to the trough. He’s a community organizer that can’t speak 3 words without saying “ummm, hmmm, huh” unless he has a teleprompter.

      • JeffH

kate8, we’ve known the left has always used plants(SEIU)in their attempts to discredit any group gathering they see as a threat to their liberalism.
just a few Tea Party tax day ralliy examples:
        1. Racist Leftist Infiltrators Driven From Tea Party Rallies by Jim Hoft
Leftist and racist infiltrators were forced to flee at tea party rallies in St. Louis, San Francisco, Oceanside and Greensboro.
        Patriots -4 Alinsky Thugs -0
        2. In Greensboro, North Carolina local police put the kibosh on a disguised tea party protester.
        3. In Oceanside, the tea party patriots drove out another leftist infiltrator from their event too.
        4. Even at the rally in San Francisco, the patriots had pink arrows to point at the few leftists who infiltrated their protest today.

Unfortunately for the left, their Alinksy tactics backfired at the Tax Day Tea Party rallies. The radicals lost on Tax Day.

What Retired Spook Saw at the Restoring Honor Rally
Posted by Mark Noonan in Patriotism on August 31st, 2010

It was probably the most spiritually uplifting event that my wife and I ever participated in, and we came away feeling renewed and rededicated to playing our part in making this country a better place.

The one accurate account that I did read later said that, in a crowd that extended nearly a mile from end to end, there were no arrests, and the only incidents that require police intervention were from a couple small groups of Leftist plants who brought some ugly signs up on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and were asked to leave.
        http://blogsforvictory.com/2010/08/31/what-retired-spook-saw-at-the-beck-rally/comment-page-1/

      • kate8

JeffH – That’s so cool that you went to the Honor Rally! Way to go!

I think this rally has had a reverberating effect on large numbers of patriots. It has filled us with the spirit of hope and determination.

Victory is ours, because we are on the side of liberty and wholeness.

      • Robert Smith

        Hi Christin,

Let’s deal with reality here. You claim about Obama: >>>growing expensive gov, growing the debt,<<>>When President George W. Bush entered the White House in January 2001, the federal government had total revenues of slightly more than $2.03 trillion and expenditures of $1.79 trillion, leaving a budget surplus of slightly less than $240 billion.<<<

There is a graph there that traces the growth in federal government tax receipts and expenditures and resulting surpluses or deficits over the last eight years. (Source: The 2008 Statistical Abstract, U.S. Census Bureau)

It clearly shows the trend of more spending, lower income, and more debt on the way BEFORE 911. The excuse of a couple of wars, etc. is a lie.

Expenses can be controlled. Remember George Bush's no bid situation on medicine that became so expensive folks went to Canada for exactly the same thing? Then he tried to make buying elsewhere illegal. That isn't free enterprise!

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Karolyn,

I think liberals (of which group you seem to relate too) feel about Beck the way we conservatives feel about Obama’s administration. You call it hating Obama….I call it “hating Obama’s sorry excuse of a plan, pathetic attempt to unite the country….yada yada yada.

      • JeffH

Fed Up Gal in NM, I agree with you, although I find the use of the word “hate” despicable by anyone. That’s just my opinion though and I refuse to carry it in my vocabulary. The fact is that the liberals have a “patent” on the word “hate” and use it as freely as: the, and, a, of…you get my drift.

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Jeff H,

I do get it, and yes…you are right about the use of the word. As I am a flawed Christian and human…I should try and and remove it from my vocabulary as well. Thanks for the appropriate reminder!

What a half witted remark from a lib!

    • giley1

Mr. Becks’ DC event was a good example of the thirst that this country has to return to our Christian and Jewdeo values. However, our country’s demographics have drastically changed. We must respect ones’ choice to worship in a church of choice. What is really needed more than anything else is a re-newel of our history and values. A re-newel of what our founding fathers meant for this country to become and prosper. We have a world that is getting very diverse and too many who come here do not want to assimilate but rather have us accomodate them and change our values to do so. Our schools need to do a better job or teaching our history worts and all. One thing that is not acceptable is the attempt to impose Sharia law on us. This will never work or happen. It is totally incompatible with our Democracy and rule of law.

    • Dale

Consider some wisdom!!! Separation of Church and Government? What is foolish is to separate what a person is and what they do. People do things based upon what they are!!!

You can’t totally separate the person and what they believe without ending up with a MONSTER.

If you want leaders that have no belief system then you are crazy. The leader would do nothing that he/she is not told to do or only do what benefits them or those who agree with them. Tolerance of those who disagree or oppose them in any way would cause hate – which is built on un-forgiveness.

Even Communists, Marxists, Socialists have mutual belief systems – it becomes their religion to destroy religion and make everyone like them – whether they want it or not. If non-believers are too much of a nuisance – simply kill them.

The simple fact is – “As a man thinks in his (her)heart, so is he (she).” If the anchor of ones life is anything less than some moral ethics then life becomes irrelevant (why not just kill anyone you don’t like?).

You can’t totally separate the person and what they believe without ending up with a MONSTER.

Atheism gives no basis for respect of anyone or anything because it lowers man to animal status and life becomes insignificant. If a person has any respect for anyone else it will be merely because it fulfills his/her needs and desires – otherwise others are just insignificant and irrelevant nuisances, especially if they don’t agree with you.

Christianity says to love everyone, even your enemy. Then God empowers the person to follow that rule. The challenge is that no one is perfect and everyone does what they want to do sometimes rather than to follow God’s instructions.

There are people that call themselves Christian that don’t follow God hardly at all or try to make God in their image rather than to let God change them, their attitudes, their ways. Just as it is wrong to look at all Blacks or Whites from the opposite race and pre-judge (prejudice) the other race based on what a few do, it is just as wrong to do the same to people of faith. When one becomes unteachable, inflexible, and set in their ways then they are a problem to themselves and others.

The fact is that people believe in some god (money, God, government, rock star, etc). They are religious, it is what they are. To separate peoples humanity from Government is ridiculous. A Christian will act Christian. A Socialist will act Socialist.

If you remove morality from the equation then it becomes personal moral ethics or social ethics based on everyone trying to tolerate and be tolerated by others. It is based out of fear or lust rather than genuine love.

      • Karolyn

I agree with some of what you said Dale. However, just because someone is an atheist does not make them a bad person. Socialists are not necessarily any worse as far as morals and values than anybody else either. I don’t think I’ve ever face-to-face talked to an atheist, but I have heard them interviewed; and they are like anybody else – concerned about their families, their health, the economy, etc. they love and are loved. The work and support their families. They are just people with different views on life and spirituality. A label does not necessarily make the man. “You can’t judge a book by its cover.”

      • Robert Smith

        Hi Karolyn,

        You posted: >>> I don’t think I’ve ever face-to-face talked to an atheist, <<<

Or maybe a Boddist, Pagan, etc.

I'm sure you have. Your pharmacist, banker, someone at the gas station… They are simply people going about their lives. They don't wear marks like six pointed stars on their cloths because it ain't nobody's business or gays who had to wear a triangle. Most Americans don't talk about religion much and those who are in a minority talk less.

sc, For the most part i agree with you but it is most important to impress upon young people especially is that our basic human rights come from a higher power, not from gov’t. When we completely lose religion from gov’t politicians like obama and pelosi will take everything away from us. The Constitution will be worthless.

      • Robert Smith

        Hey Michael D.!

You want to teach our kids: >>>it is most important to impress upon young people especially is that our basic human rights come from a higher power, not from gov’t. <<<

Incorrect, Michael. It appears you do have some respect for our Constitution but it also appears you are quite ignorant of it.

Let us begin the first lesson with, "We the people…" Have you ever heard those words? Our Constitution doesn't get it's teeth from a "higher power" or government. It is from US, the people.

I can understand how you might have not gotten that point if you went to one of them there christian schools that limits one's education. It's curable. Just read the Constitution. Please think about, "We the people" and what that means. It doesn't say someone's god, etc. The Founders were correct. They dealt with reality.

"We the people…" Kinda catchy, isn't.
