Consumer Group Demands Government Reveal Its Use Of Google Earth

Consumer group demands government reveal its use of Google Earth Technology has penetrated every aspect of our daily lives, and some are beginning to ask how the government uses tools such as Google Earth to track the whereabouts of United States citizens.

Recently, Consumer Watchdog (CS) filed a petition under the Freedom of Information Act to find out how the FBI and DEA may be using Google Earth’s digital mapping technology for the purposes of domestic surveillance, and possibly also racial profiling or other infringements of civil liberties.

"The public needs to know how law enforcement is using Google’s technologies," said John M. Simpson, consumer advocate with CS.

"We call on the FBI and the DEA to expeditiously respond to our requests for information," he added.

The petition was prompted by CS’ review of Federal contracting records, which indicated the FBI has spent more than $600,000 on the Internet giant’s service, while the DEA has paid more than $67,000.

The organization has also commissioned a poll which showed that 55 percent of respondents were concerned about Google’s cooperation with the National Security Agency without disclosing what information it shares. Moreover, 69 percent are in favor of Congressional hearings on "Google’s gathering data from home WiFi networks and its sharing of information with U.S. spy agencies."ADNFCR-1961-ID-19930069-ADNFCR

    Why did we need chips for illegals if the census told obama exactly where they reside? If there are 4 pictures, as stated, we already have their faces. I am for chips for congress and expecially the WH. Why not add the pics of obama and michelle with their meetings.

Your joking attitudes are indicative of your failure to realize how close we already are. Since when has a moral society allowed law enforcement to break the laws they are meant to uphold? The “rule of law” is a total joke in todays social order. Ever since the successful assassination of the president during the civil upheaval of the 60s our government has been secretly controlled and the population has been brain-washed by the media. The special interests of corporations have trumped the will of the people, and law enforcement is being used to enforce the interests of the rich. You will notice that it is not a crime for politicians to lie an entire nation into a war its citizens know is unjust. It is not a crime to torture. It is not a crime to lie about the news to the nation, but it is for you to lie to a cop. It is not a crime to commit fraud if you are a bank, only if you are a person. It is not a crime to pollute the Gulf but it is a crime to piss on the ground. It is a crime to steal bread but not an election. Wake up, the criminals are in control and unless you DO SOMETHING about it that control will be total control very soon! President Obama is George Bushs’ flunky! The CIA is the biggest terrorist organization in the world. The FBI acts outside of the law so how can it be a law enforcement agency? The Supreme Court rules contrary to the constitution contrary to its own precedents. It and the justice department have been perverted by the executive branch beyond credibility. The NSA is the biggest threat to national security. The fourth estate once touted as the protector of democracy has become the fifth column in its demise. What we need is a war on the lawless activities of this government and the corporate new world order that threatens freedom as we know it. It is up to we as individuals to take action so get off your butt and do something!

    If these chips are so damn safe, put them in Onumnutts and Big Maamee and the girls, think of the money could be saved on Secret Service agents. Since the Clintons are the last Pres and First Witch to be watched by Secret Service till they expire.. Hells Bells chip all Congress persons and along with captured illegals, with 2 chips.That way every one know where the crimminals are at all times. Also chips any muslim that is in Gitmo ar in any of our prisons. I still cannot beleive those muslim terrorist released from Gitmo, don’t glow like a long pig with a florencent light up their rears by using radation..

    Notice how, on the news, we’re always seeing people on video doing things they don’t think anyone sees? Like the lady who threw the poor cat in the garbage can? There have been many examples lately.

    It just goes to show that our every move is being watched.

    While we think it’s good these people are caught in the act, it is not so good that we are under constant surveillance.

    Big Brother is watching.

    45 cal;Well don’t you think thats pretty cool the astronauts in the space station can use those satelites to keep up with the news by reading those newspapers.Some day when your cruisig down the back roads and have to open your to take a leak, first look forward then back and then look up and smile.I’m sure you must be their prime suspect and they are keeping an eye on you.

      It doesn’t matter what you believe. They simply take the pictures. If and when someone causes them problems they can go back to find out who and where that person is, just as they did McVey. How do you think they got the picture of McVey to circulate to the police less than an hour after the attack? Since you are good little sheeple, I’m certain they will never have to spy on you. Besides, you would never do something that might risk them cutting off your welfare check, would you?

    60% of all government spy satellites are pointed at the US. It takes a picture every 4 seconds of every place in the country. The pictures have enough resolution that they can read a newspaper laying on the ground. With side image technology, they can scan license plates on cars or look directly at your face. It infrared and other technolody they can count the number of people in a building and follow them as they move around. You want to dig a hole outside and bury something? They have pictures of you doing it.

    These are used occasionally to solve some crimes, such as the Oklahoma City bombing but they do not advertise since they don’t want every one to know they are being spied upon. They were used once for that purpose but the government put a stop to it because they feared the public reaction. In fact ALL outdoor violent crimes can be solved immediately by this use – but it isn’t allowed to be used that way.

    So why get concerned about Google? Why should the government even want to use something that really isn’t as good as what they already have?

      I’ve heard that they can single out one person, in a building, and target him for missiles. too bad they can’t penetrate those caves and tunnels in Afghanistan!!!

    They have been tracking us for some time now with cellular phones and computers…

    The next step will be RFID chipset implants.
    I’m sure this will start out with the use on crminals first and slowly incorparated into the general public as an “it’s good for you” policy. It is already in the works as an immigration issue as proof of citizenship.

      There is a school in the NE that is looking seriously into using RFID chips to track all their students. The company making the chips is offering a free trial to get the schools to buy into it. Their argument is safety (if a child is kidnapped) and to make sure the children are where they are supposed to be.

        45, Chipping kids in case their kidnaped is stupid. If someone is going to kidnap a child, what’s to stop them from cutting out the chip?

        They are busy trying to figure out ways to get us to accept this.

        Our local pet store has a “chipping clinic” to get our pets chipped. They always go after the animals first to test it out. Next, it’s the kids.

        Plus, many businesses are requiring their employees get chipped for “security” reasons.

        Kate8, if we could persuade our elected bastards and bastardettes in Congress to agree to two specific conditions, then the idea of chipping might make sense (that’s IF we could trust Uncle Scam not to use it against us).
        The first condition would require that EVERYONE who gets elected to go to Washington would be forced to get a chip implanted. The second condition would require those wonderful ‘leaders’ to get neutered.
        I am SO certain that they will line up and accept these conditions – because they CARE so much about us, and even THEY have to SACRIFICE once in a while. What do you think, Kate8?

        I think they all need to be corraled and chipped so we know where they are and what they are doing at every moment. Then, after a few years, if it’s working well for them, we can talk about it.

        If not, they all need to be lined up and %&*! for treason.

        JoeH. I agree. My sister got a kitten that was chipped, and it was always sick. It finally disappeared, and she was devastated.

        I won’t chip my animals, either. They’re trying to make it mandatory.

        Want to know what I think of mandatory anything?
