Combative Rangel Tells House He Will Not Resign

Combative Rangel tells House he will not resign During a 37-minute unscripted speech, a defiant Representative Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) told his colleagues that he would not resign and demanded that the House ethics committee resolve his case before the November elections.

While Rangel apologized to his fellow members of the House for any embarrassment that he may be causing them at such an inopportune time, he also said combatively that the only way he will leave Congress is through expulsion.

"If it is the judgment of people here, for whatever reason, that I resign, then heck, have the ethics committee expedite this," Rangel told his colleagues on the House floor. "Don’t leave me swinging in the wind until November."

"If I can’t get my dignity back here, then fire your best shot in getting rid of me through expulsion," he added.

Although Rangel did admit to making honest mistakes that were filled with "good intentions," he again denied allegations of corruption.

The 40-year veteran of Congress ended his emotional and somewhat unfocused speech by denying rumors that President Obama is pushing for his resignation, Reuters reports.

Earlier in the week, Obama referred to Rangel’s case as "very troubling," and added that he hopes the New York Democrat will end his career "with dignity."

    How can 500+ people destroy a nation of millions of people? Americans are uneducated {not college]uninformed and really don’t give a shit. The educated are the street savy ones who know what’s going on around them. Most, Oblivious. Rangel should be swinging from a tree. As many others.     Yes, term limits of the total of 8 years. One term as a representative and one term as a senator with 16 years out of the beltway. Or the person can serve 4- 2 year terms and they get turnred oeltway before coming back in 16 years. also they cannot be a lobbyist for 16 years. I doubt if it will ever happen because of the good ol boys club. The states are going to pass their own representives and senators term limits. The last time states tried to limit terms, Tax cheat Daschle went to the SC for a deciasion before the ink was dry, which came back in a week or two and stated it was a federal issue.. That might be the October surprise of Onumnutts and the marxist democrats to cancel free election by a executive order from the mulsim marxist moron in the WH. Democrats will not punish their own as the Republicans did with Duke Cunningham. Rangel and Waters are the pillars of the communist democrat socialist party.

    he really doesn’t make any difference whether his term continues or ends, the guy running against him is the son of the congressman rangel defeated years ago. “adam clayton powell” wasn’t any different than charlie, he was just as crooked maybe even more and i believe it runs in the blood.

    Since no one has yet mentioned this possibility, I’ll go ahead and say it. While we appreciate knowing that Rangel and Waters are under the public microscope, let us consider the high degree of probability that Herr Obummer and Her Lowness (Queen Nancy) are willing to sacrifice that pair of twits, if only to keep us distracted so we don’t include Baaney Fwank and Crapster Dodd.
    We owe it to ourselves and the next five generations to rid America of EVERY criminal politician in office. Is there anyone out there who thinks Washington weasels have what it takes to investigate or prosecute themselves?

        N, people didn’t seem to catch on to the fact you have an extremely lofty opinion of the SOBs and sunny beaches in Congress. If your list is that short, then you have an agenda that is being held back from the rest of us.
        After all the years you’ve had to learn what Washingon is all about, it seems that your ‘research’ was in vain. At least 90% of the retards, progressives, useful idiots and other vermin in Congress need to be outsourced. Take off those blinders. See what you need to see. Anything less is a distortion of reality. You do know what reality is, don’t you?

    When I see the new Washington Speak word “troubling”, I think of Senator Collins, the “RHINO”, (Republican in name only), who votes for every Obama bill that comes before the Senate. She has been using the “dog & pony show” linguistics for quite some time, “troubling” being among them, that is repeated over and over.
    Don’t believe anything the Congressional people say, but check their voting records.

        Try and convince him that having his head permanently stuffed up his posterior will never let him see what he needs to see. Then, maybe we’ll have an idea as to whether N does his shill work as a volunteer, or if he gets paid to to act like a progressive parrot on this website.

    Herr Obummer is behind the push to get Rangel out.He is sending a message to other Dem.s letting them know if they cross him there is a price to pay. If I remember correctly Rangel supported Hillary in the Presidential primary.
    The American voters put Organized crime in power and in control of our government.

    Are we supposed to laugh, cry or puke? Mr. Rangel is a product of Washington’s ‘gimme gimme’ entitlementitis. People who infest Congress think they are above the law, and their whims come before taking care of America.
    I’m amazed that Herr Obummer would dare claim that Rangel’s case is ‘troubling.’ Aren’t progressives oblgated to protect each other at all costs? The idea that waiting until November makes Rangel nervous has that rotting stench that so personifies “leadership” in Washington.
    Mr. Ragel, if you ever had any dignity, you seem to have sold it long ago. It took a long time for the pendulum of justice to swing back in your miserable direction. Why are you afraid of November? You don’t deserve instant justice, and we damn sure deserve better leaders than pretenders like you.
