Reinstituting Slavery In America

July 30, 2010 by

Reinstituting Slavery In America

I suppose you thought the idea of American slavery ended in 1865. A United States Congressman wants to reinstate it.

Ethically-challenged Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y) last week introduced in the Armed Services Committee H.R. 5741, also known as the National Service Act. The bill would require two-years of mandatory government service—either in the military or some as-yet undefined civilian service that promotes national or homeland security—to everyone between the ages of 18 and 42 if the President declares a national emergency.

No choice. No way out. You’ve got to do it if the President declares a national emergency.

Rangel, who opposes the excursions in Afghanistan and Iraq because he believes blacks and the poor are doing the majority of the fighting and dying, has long sought to institute a draft. In the past he has stated, in effect, that by instituting a draft Americans would be less likely to support wars.

That may be. But forced labor at the point of a gun is no different from what blacks suffered under the hands of slave masters for most of a couple of hundred years in America.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the Federal government or a plantation owner, forced labor is slavery. Giving it a fancy name doesn’t change that.

And one other thing: with growing disenchantment over the fascist bent of the current administration and its assault on the rule of law, this country is likely to soon see a popular uprising. That would be the perfect excuse for the President to make his emergency declaration.

And if you’re thinking that you might resist the “draft” remember, President Barack Obama fancies himself as another Lincoln. Well, just look at what Lincoln did during the draft riots in New York.

He ordered five regiments of troops fresh from the battlefield at Gettysburg to quell the riots. The troops shot somewhere between 300 and 1,000 civilians.

I am familiar with a form of slavery that has existed for some time in America (1990s); yes, a legalized form of slavery….

When a state-licensed marriage (with children) is dissolved through no-fault divorce, the children are often AWARDED to one spouse or parent (as with other property…); moreover, a PRICE is put on the head of each child (called child support).

The federal model matches child support collections by each state; thus, the state can augment general revenue by collecting child support. The state (or federal agency) uses divorce (and child support) as a tax (revenue)– the children as PROPERTY…. The more ASSESSED (and collected), the more benefit to the state.

Yes, I am familiar with a form of slavery…

    • Wanda Murline

I am familiar with another form of slavery and it is called entitlements from the federal government. There are people in the US who have never worked a day in their lives…their entire life is subject to the whims of the government…ie food stamps, medicaid and SSI. They believe that the government and the tax payer owes them a living. When you are dependent upon the government to exist… then you are still on the Massa’s plantation, both blacks and whites…you are essentially a slave because should something happen to the Massa (government), you would have no one to support your existence… and that is slavery in the 21st century.

      • TeresaE

I love you Wanda. You get it.

      • marvin

Wanda Murline you should not talk about obama like that his dad was poor his mom was poor his famly was poor he has never worked never had a job been on the public tit all his life went to collage at tax payer expence never help any one but the black people if you can call it help now a multi millionair

      • Bud in San Antone

Billy Jeff Clinton same story. Always lived in public housing until he left office, that’s when he bought his first home.

looking for the real slave trade in america, go to Youtube and type in “Big business of being behind bars. It is an amazing exposure piece on what real slavery in this country has become.

Boy.. what a cover up that youtube piece is. Of course they have their asses covered. I’d be disappointed if they didn’t. I’d just like to see the money being spent on wars collectively thrown into a world wide space program that will allow us to divert/destroy these threats. NOW that’s a war on terrorism I can get behind.. not this other B.S.

  • charles payne

I served as a obliagted volunteer when the draft was in effect. Two years of three hots and a cot at minimum wage might do wonders for our spoiled brates.

  • Bob L

Hummm, Would Charlie think being required to bust up big rocks into little ones when he goes to prison as a form of slavery?
Maybe since he is a senior citizen they will just let him sort rocks according to size instead of having to swing a hammer.

Black trash will forever be slaves to the democratic party who have used them for political gain for decades. They’re simply too freaking ignorant to see that. BlaCK TRASH DESERVE WHAT THEY AX FER.

And white trash? We have that too, just in case you hadn’t noticed.

Slavery is already prospering in our formerly great country. Forcing A to pay B’s bills forces A into slavery to B. On the other hand, voluntary charities create safety nets without also creating a slave class, a parasite class, and an arrogant and criminal political class.

  • M.L.

“Blacks and poor are doing the majority of fighting and dying?” Guess again. I was a child during WW11, and like the Dems. accuse the tea party of, I saw a sea of white only dotted with people of color in every branch of the service and well as every war or conflict this country has ever indured. It’s not that I mind, it is just that thr white people have been also doing the heavy lifting in this country for the most part and I won’t allow it to be pushed aside any longer.

  • JC

“Rangel, who opposes the excursions in Afghanistan and Iraq because he believes blacks and the poor are doing the majority of the fighting and dying, has long sought to institute a draft. In the past he has stated, in effect, that by instituting a draft Americans would be less likely to support wars.”

That line of thinking is all by itself completely bent and twisted.
First, what makes him think Americans are in support of these wars now?

And how is mandatory conscription going to change the fact that people do not want war to begin with?

A righteous war will not need conscription. Americans have always stepped to the plate to defend America. Ah! But there it is….we’re not defending America these days are we?. (unless you buy into the manufactured terrorist threat) We’re feeding our best and bravest to a corporate war designed to keep us in fear and enrich the corporate elite. I know that will get a lot of arguments but this isn’t about patriotism, it’s about justice, and we’re seeing very little of that coming from DC. We need to stop screwing around in the affairs of foreign governments and we might stopp earning the enmity of the planet.

And an afterthough from someone infamous…

“Naturally the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
    ~ Hermann Goering

Mandatory Conscription equates to the ultimate “tax”…your very life.

    • DaveH

Excellent comment, JC. I’m proud of you.

    • Fatboy

In response to all of the JC’s of this the greatest country in the world I make the following statement:

I am an 81 year old God fearing American who voluntarily joined the US Army some 64 years ago and at 17 years of age I along with hundreds of other young men under the age of 19 were the first of what you would call Charlie Rangel’s slave troops, only they called it Universal Military Training {UMT’s} back then. They did not teach us any private sector job knowledge in the 6 months of specialized training, but they did teach us discipline and otherwise made men out of boys.

I do not remember any blacks being in that group of UMT’s and there was no girls, but I am in support of some type of voluntary system that offers our young men and women of all ethnicity a private sector job skills training program along with military discipline. Most quality apprenticeship programs are for 4 years and I would think that 5 to 6 years of combined military training along with private sector job skills training would be the right mix wherein they could step out into civilian life to make a quality living for themselves and their future family. I would expect the military to work with private sector Companies to offer assistance in finding them a job. Every one that took advantage of this program would be offered $75,000 dollars toward a college scholarship or $50,000 dollars in cash; both being as non taxable income upon their Honorable Discharge from the armed services. The young men and women would be obligated for the next 6 years or so to serve in the national guard and to go back into the armed services if America went to war up through the age of 35 or so. I would make a similar offer to the illegal’s in this country with the following changes; they would be eligible for full citizenship with no strings attached and otherwise the same benefits as aforementioned if they served 8 years in their initial enlistment.

The JC’s of our America do not see the many atrocities that have been committed against this God fearing country of ours over the past 40 plus years by the Islam extremist as a war, but I do. These actions were not criminal actions they are terrorist trying to intimidate us and in time their goal is to eradicate all Christians and Jews of the world and if we would let our fighting men and women fight this war in Afghanistan and any other conflict as a war by simply bombing the place out of existence from which enemy fire comes without fear of being criminalized. Otherwise I agree with some of what Mary Kotarski says when she says that we will never win any war again with the current “rules of engagement”, it isn’t possible. I won’t go so far as to say bomb the current enemy back into the stone age but that does have some merit. If we could fight this war as a war that we wanted to win we would get it over with, get out, and bring our troops home. We need to fight the current war on the Mexican/U. S. border as a war and believe me, it is a WAR! I agree with her on the following; I too totally support our troops and all of our law enforcement personnel, etc.

      • JC

With all due respect Sir, I do see it. I see it very clearly.
What I would like everyone to see are those cases where we ourselves antagonized those situations in direct conflict to our Constitution.
I consider myself an American Patriotic to the Founding principles of our nation and not a life to be thrown away for an entry in someone’s corporate ledger. I will gladly risk my life to protect America…on American soil.
Unless of course we get another Hitler…a declared opponent with a declared army in a declared war. That would change the situation wouldn’t it?

      • Al Sieber

Good post JC, stand your ground.

      • DaveH

        Very well said, JC.
I believe that our greatest threat comes from within our own country. It is unlikely that outsiders would dare to mess with the US.

      • dan of arizona

        JC
        I agree

  • Mary Kotarski

I agree with Larry Hanneken – bomb them back into the stone age. They aren’t that far from that anyway! Get it over with, get out, and bring our troops home. We need to fight the war on the Mexican/U. S. border. And believe me, it is a WAR! I totally support our troops, law enforcement personnel, etc. Get rid of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Period. We will never win any wars again with the current “rules of engagement”. It’s just not possible.

  • Frank

Military service gives you a job skill that can be applied to civilian employment (other the the combat arms). It also instill’s a sence of Pride and Honer. You also get the exposeure of other people’s point of view from different parts of the country. You Learn, grow and mecome a better person then the idiot who sits on a couch playing video games and does nothing but complain ahow NOT have any skills or a job. As far as I’m concerned, If you want any rights, then DEFEND them!

    • Truth Eludes Some

This is a good debate, compulsory versus volunteer service, and there are some good views each way. Would have been no contest that a 2-year hitch would be good for ALL, except no one (for GOOD reason) trusts the gov’t anymore. One way to distill this argument is to differentiate between compulsory MILITARY service (traditional kind, with all the positive effects), and compulsory NATIONAL service, which has Obama’s vision of robotic adherence to his politics written all over it…we’ve all seen the brainwashed black kids strutting stupidly to the Obama rap. I recall Jim Jones and his coolaid in a South American jungle, killing all of his acolytes. The guy in the White House is fully that delusional, except his education under marxist authors and socialist manipulators (Rev. Wright, for instance) means he’s way slicker, and now has immeasurable power to corrupt due to a numbingly STUPID voting public giving it him. The Founding Fathers wrote about the absolute REQUIREMENT that the public be EDUCATED, so to make sound choices…unfortunately, the education of which they spoke was resembled NOTHING that is happening today in our schools, which have, in most instances, become training labs of socialist activism for the naive and ill-informed. Our kids are, intentionally, being denied a full view of American “exceptionalism”; even with the mistakes, abuses, and warts, NOTHING in human history comes close to the freedom to choose and prosper that exemplifies the American experience.
A POSSIBLE OUTCOME: Not saying it’d be easy or peacful, but dividing the country into two autonomous regions (traditional American/democratic, socialist marxist progressive) would at least RECOGNIZE that the two sides are nearing a structural INability to co-exist under the same gov’t. Mutual military (if it was allowed to function as such) assistance, disaster assistance, economic trade, but nothing else. Yeah, that’s a long way off, but does anyone doubt that some type of separation is in order? States could start by creating economic trade pacts (as is happening around the world…some PARTS of countries are creating zones with PARTS of other countries, due to mutual language, or cultures, etc). Start with pacts, then discuss autonomy, then full independence if full states vote to do so. In other words, a form of “soft secession” that ultimately becomes permanent. Just a thought – I’m not a genie (in fact, I have no hair), but my older military, law enforcement, intel analyst eyes tell me change similar to this will come, eventually. Remember, Western Canada HATES the Quebec gov’t (Frenchies), and talk is rife on the Canadian internet about their own secession thoughts – Western Canada is much like American conservative regions, so we traditional types might end up with a country just as large and resource-rich, but configured differently. We must all recognize that times have, indeed, changed, and the slimy left, by controlling much of education, has had a truly corrosive effect on the intellectual acumen of many young people…hence the whacko environmentalists, self-absorbed feminists, black revolution-theology, illegal alien lobbies, etc. It is said not to waste time debating lefties, because their arguments are so weak that they just scream – so don’t waste time, and prepare, educate, get in shape, get armed, get INVOLVED, folks.

  • Jimmy

When we went to the All Volunteer Force in the 70′s and eliminated the draft we left the era that said “every man was obligated to serve his country…we left the belief of duty, honor , and country first. We left the belief that one owes this country something for living in freedom. Many gave their lives over the years for this country.
Anyway, this idea could help the Islams and Illegals develop something for this country.
There is a price for freedom. People have forgotten that.

    • DaveH

Let’s get this straight. We are NOT Free if people can force us to do things we don’t want to do!

      • GreyChief

Does that include those people in the government who force us to pay taxes?

      • Amy Emerson

        I’ll say “Amen” to that!

      • DaveH

Especially if it is money taken from us to give to other people who are providing us with no goods or services in return.

      • Another Donald

You mean like taking almost half your pay check or maybe the army of IRS agents siezing everything you own?How about your farm for growing food the government doesn’t know about?

    • JC

Like the Muslim Colonel who shot up Ft. Hood?

      • libertytrain

He was a Major – not a colonel – probably would never had made colonel with his history.

    • JC

Sorry Jimmy, I don’t mean to come off as arguing with you, but you’re operating on a false premise. What we owe America is the defense of our way of life. Not interventionist foreign wars fought by Americans forced to be there.

      • eddie47d

JC,Good reply on our envolving ourselves on foreign soil. Would any President in the future be more inclined to go to war if we had a National Service? Is it worth taking a chance to find out? Maybe not! On the other side of the issue we have too many Americans who take and take and don’t give back. Too many citizens take money they didn’t earn or don’t deserve. That includes state welfare and corporate welfare. The Dems.protect those who are permanently entrenched on welfare and the Reps.cower over corporate welfare (criminality). Our sense of pride in working and being fair about it is sorely lacking. I see allot of lazy kids out there who could care less about what lies ahead. I also see mature adults who don’t have a clue.Would National Service stir them to act responsibally or are we as a nation too far gone?

      • JC

Somedays eddie you and I do agree.

I call those “blue moon” days :)

      • DaveH

National Service would only enable the Government to grow larger. It is too Big already. How about the Government serves us instead of us serving the Government?
        As Government Grows, Corruption Flows.

      • dan of arizona

        fast eddie
        Im am impressed

  • Ned

The idea of having to earn the right to vote sounds too much like “Starship Troopers” where to earn citizenship you had to have served in the military… Although I believe a two year stint in the armed forces or some other service would actually be a good thing for most of today’s youth, the best “carrot” would be education assistance commensurate with time served, rather than the right to vote. Of course, this would probably finish bankrupting the country, with everyone on the government payroll…

    • DaveH

We wouldn’t need the carrot if the Government would just butt out. Starvation is a great motivator to those who just don’t want to work.

“Blacks and poor are doing the majority of fighting and dying.” Well maybe so. So to even things out we need to re-institute a draft. Hey nobody is pointing a gun or threat of prosecution to the people in our military. THEY ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS! Let’s all get that through our heads, especially Rangel’s.
Maybe it’s time to stop obama his commie plans are already affecting our freedom. He and his fellow democrats have no regard for us, our freedom, our opinion. I would not miss a single commie liberal if God struck them all down this minute. Everything that comes from their mouths is pure idiocy.
We need to get a handle on Afghanistan and either fight or get out. obama is micro managing that war just as LBJ did with Vietnam.
Why can’t Americans read and learn from History and stop repeating the mistakes??? obama is carter on steroids or worse, Americans were warned about him during he campaign and NOBODY listened. Now all we do is bitch. Rangel’s bill is pure idiocy. obama may like it because he knows he doesn’t have the military behind him in his quest to be president for life and he needs somebody who will back him. Without the possibility of armed backing he would never last. November can’t come soon enough and hopefully after November we can start reversing the insanity that has racked our country for almost 2 years. Hopefully before the violence starts.
Please my fellow Americans, please see what is in front of your eyes and don’t behave as you all did during the campaign, saying to yourselves that it is al rhetoric.

    • Truth Eludes Some

Just a note to John S – good comments and we’re on the same page, but noting that the statement about blacks and the poor doing all the dying is patently inaccurate, even during Vietnam, which has always been portrayed as blacks and poor getting shafted. I AGREE that us working class and poor often fill the ranks, but it’s far more CLASS than color – 1964 to 1975, whites were 73% of the population, suffered 72% of all VN deaths, and 74% of total casualties. Blacks also suffered in proportion to their percent of the population; latinos and asians were greatly underrepresented in VN casualties. Today, service people – who I’ve trained much of the last decade – appear WAY smarter and perhsps better educated (not the same as smart any more), and, with a volunteer force, as represented across the class and race spectrum. Combining Desert Storm with Iraq/Afghanistan today, whites are the only group OVERrepresented in the casualties – watch ANY documentary, any film, any newsreel…like Katrina, it’s European-Americans doing most of the dirty work of combat and rescue. This is not a discussion of race, just statistics – but it is also easy to see why Obama is rightly concerned about not having the military on his side…most people of European descent tend to be conservative, and will not kowtow to a socialist, liberal, marxist, etc. They don’t care that he’s of mixed race; they hate Biden as much as Obama (aka Dope and Strange, not hope and change).
Folks, it is time to prepare – emergency preparation (food, medicines, water) includes, also, personal protection tools: firearms, unarmed combat skills, ability and mindset to survive…please remember, Obama and company will lose this year and 2012 IF they do NOT legalize illegal immigrants, so they will be rolling the dice with a vengeance to exert their power and control over us in very short order, essentially to steal power regardless of election results. Without an ounce of emotion or cynicism, I say: PREPARE NOW, because one always prays for peace, but ALWAYS prepares for war. Forget political parties now – it’s traditional Americans against the encroaching worldwide socialist/marxist movement, as evidenced most profoundly in what is happening in South America. The American Century (when we ensured relative stability in the world) is OVER. PREPARE…now.

      • Eagle

You are right on the money on this issue. I just read that Obummer has hired an individual to oversee elections in November, that has already been connected to election fraud in the past.

Oh, you can bet that the progressives and the head Marxist have some shinannigans up their sleeve for the upcomming elections; and we need to be ready for it.

I just hope that we can get rid of at least most of the subversive elements in our Government this election; it would be the peaceful way to go.

I also have a strong feeling that if the progressives pull off a rigged election, that there could very well be an uprising of sorts, and although I could understand why, I know that it won’t be a pleasant thing to observe.

Sometimes I feel that this Administration thinks that such an action would be a good reason to declare Martial Law, but that could prove to be Barry’s worst and final miscalculation.

      • Eagle

You also mention what is happening in South America, and I think that you are referring to Hugo Chavez. I witnessed first hand what his buddy, Mel Zalaya, tried to pull in Honduras.

Basically he went against the constitution, the congress and the Supreme Court, and wound up getting escorted to another country in his pajamas early one morning; and the rest is history.

Perhaps we could take a lesson from Honduras !!

  • EverAfterPatrick

Don’t even need to consider Rangel’s attempt to reinstate the draft to look for slavery currently imposed upon the People by the feds. Stop Loss in the military now extends the enlistments of military members without their consent.

    • http://GOGGLE vaksal

Rangel is a puppet master, owned by those in power(all those above the laws of this nation, just think this crook in government,is pushing to genocide a new generation of possible american breeders,WHY? maybe to insure that the monkeys in power will get the edge by getting leagal citizens killed of all races, and replace them with non citizens (new slaves with no rights, the finale answer to the people that can hide their kids in colleges or in non fighting military postions in non dangerous jobs while either way,the nation loses and this two bit flea bag, that got elected pushes this draft stuff, and who will want to be put in harms way,for the way this communist agenda is being pushed,so it cant be called fighting for freedom, maybe its called being a person, with no freedom of choice, maybe rangel and everyone in government should be required to send their grandchildern and family members and themselfs to Iraq and AFGANISTAN,only when pigs have wings will that happen,i vote to send rangel and his family instead of one american to die for these left wing bolshevics in power.

  • Fred – WWII Vet

A two year stint in public service would be a good thing. Military is not the only option, however it does give one a perspective that is usually not acquired by other means. The purpose would be to have a trained reserve of people, readily available, to DEFEND OUR COUNTRY – not to be convenient aggressors. What is wrong with paying some “dues” to live in what once was the greatest country in the world. Hopefully we will get back to that position – but I don’t see it happening until we go through a real wringer and get rid of all of the criminals who are currently in office and at the head of such organizations as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, CFTC, SEC, et. al.

Steve is right – why not “earn” the right to vote? Anything you get “for free” is worth exactly what you pay for it.

    • DaveH

The Criminals are in charge of the Federal Government. And you want to give them more troops?

      • DaveH

It’s easy to see from several replys on this board how Hitler could achieve his goals. Well-meaning but misguided people fall right into line with despotic leaders.

If Charlie Rangel’s pushing of this bill doesn’t wake people up to reality, we are doomed. It’s surprising that he has the time to push bills while being investigated for 13 ethics violations.

      • DaveH
      • TeresaE

        BINGO!

Well meaning, apathetic, not wanting to see evil when it knocks on their door and easily led by the nose.

THIS is how Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Mussolini, Castro, Chavez, et al, come to power.

Apathy, indoctrination, domination, horror. Plays out over and over again.

      • http://ahalbert@smart-technology.net Allan

        DaveH-

People are just speaking from military experience. I don’t see a difference between different kinds of troops. In general, liberal/progressives want to decrease the size and capability of our military. They fundamentally disrespect it, and the military perceives that despite liberal lip service. Would current politicians attempt to use the military to quash civil unrest? Possibly. But they’d have to overcome staunch patriotism to do so. I think it would be much more difficult to pit our military against fellow citizens than assumed. I trust our military a hundred times more than I do our politicians. I still think the solution we are looking for to the Marxist problem begins with term limits.

      • DaveH

        Allan,
I hope and dream that you are right about the military, but they have typically been indoctrinated with the concept of “following orders”, so I have my doubts.
And Term Limits would accomplish nothing. Imagine if the current crop of Democrats had term limits on them. They would have nothing to lose and would behave worse than they already are behaving.
There is no substitute for educated voters, and that is what Obama fears most. Which is why he hates Foxnews and the Internet.

      • dan of arizona

If our troops are abroad then there plan is to use the UN to keep us in line fat chance but they also no that. There is no way that our military would ever consider standing against there own people, they are our sons and daughters. Yes they do follow orders but when this usurper truly shows his face then the orders change there are presently about three million UN troops here now standing by to suppress our citizens when this starts they think they can control all of us to obey them. The way I see it they are only a small imcompetant army that couldnt organize a group of boy scouts they are only 1% aginst 300 million spread out to thin in numbers the kill ratio is against them a thousand to one they have no problem of taking our lives because we are in every nation doing the same thing to them just following orders.

    • Amy Emerson

Earn the right to vote???? If you are born in this great nation than you are an American Citizen automatically. If you mess up and commit crimes, than you lose your privilidges. I still haven’t seen a Birth Certificate for our Commander in Chief and wonder why anyone running for that position shouldn’t be forced to serve the country they command????

  • http://MSN John AZ

Not a bad idea really! Our youth could learn life skills vs. sitting at home, playing video games and doing nothing with their lives. Let’s face it, unemployment is rampant for career persons and even worse for high school graduates. Why have them waste away doing nothing when they could be learning, building and improving their communities, states and the Country?

If a national emergency DID come our way our nation would benefit from having a skilled and trained reserve force to meet any challenges that our nation may face.

Strickly voluntary of course, with maybe some sort of college tuition waivers or some other incentives. How about “you work one year and you get one year of paid college”. Not a bad idea. This would help the less privileged kids who want to go to college, but have no money. Anyhow, something to explore for our the future of our country!

    • DaveH

It would be the perfect path to indoctrination of our youth.
Our country was established on the basis of Individual Liberty. Government is already grossly oversized. We need less Government interference in our lives, not more.
If Government would butt out of the Marketplace, the job market would explode. There would be work for anybody who desired to work. Look to Hong Kong for proof of that:
      http://www.heritage.org/index/country/HongKong

Obama and Gang know exactly what they are doing. They want nothing less than total control of our country. With that total Government control will go the economic malaise that strikes all Government-dominated countries. So, do we want to give up our freedom as well as our prosperity? I say “Hell No!”.

  • DaveH

Is this the path to the “Civilian National Security Force” of which Obama spoke?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwaAVJITx1Y

    • DaveH

And these are the same people who wouldn’t have anything to do with requiring welfare recipients to work for their money. What a bunch of colossal hypocrites.

      • JC

        EXACTLY!

      • eddie47d

If there was a National Service then those folks would be the 1st to have to serve. (National Service for all no exceptions,if it was implemented).

      • DaveH

There’s a big difference between requiring somebody to work if they want the money of others, and forcing them to work (money or not).

    • RivahMitch

Exactly, the brainwashed National Socialist Youth of America, courtesy of Obummer and his fellow progressives. It’s the totalitarians dream. The reral idea behind this isn’t Military service to defend the country. It’s Civilian Corps service to expand and defend the government and brainwash everyone while they’re “serving”. When the “Community Organizations” (can you say “Acorn”) show up in your communities or at your front door to “meet your communities most pressing needs”, you’ll catch on.

    • Robert

Arm yourselves. The revolt is coming.

      • Another Donald

I believe robert is right. I’m watching desent grow in the local saloons and halls. Where most civil unrest starts. It takes two to get three then four to open their eyes. Take off your blinders people right after you pull your pants up.Look whats happening 545 Rule 300,000,000 americans. We out number them. Let them here our cry’s. Freedom Liberty.I’d still rather have a veteran in a foxhole with me.

      • Amy Emerson

I’m with you on this one! We DO outnumber the scumsukers that took over our country. If a bunch of us marched on Washington to rebel do you think that they could kill all of us?

      • Side Winder

The problem Robert…is your bolt action single shot rifle….or even your semi auto isn’t gonna cut it.
You face weapons you cannot even fathom. I’m not even talking about electro fire Gatlin guns…you face weapons of propaganda.
You move against the government…you will be branded the next Bin Laden.

        Its ineffective foolishness.

Its actually not a conspiracy. Its that things just changed in response to economic problems 70-80 years ago, and were never explained to the public.

Change it back. Use the economy as a means of change.

      • Al Sieber

Robert, some people say we can’t win against the Govt. but how come we can’t win in Afganistan? with all the technology we have we can’t beat them, either could Russia. a armed revolt would be the the last desperate resort.

  • Larry Hanneken

There is nothing wrong with a military draft. I am a Korean War Veteran and I was drafted in 1952 I served in the ARMY in KOREA for 16 months. It is wrong to put our troops in harms way for up to 5 tours in those hell holes where we are fighting. The rules of engagement are very different than they were in KOREA. If we took fire from a building we would flatten the building. Both of these countrys are not worth fighting for and losing our boys for. When we leave it will go back to what it was. I say get out and bomb it back into the stone age.

    • AttilaTheHun

I have not served in the military. I’ve worked with military people through most of my three and a half decade career and have been greatly impressed with their thoughtfulness, courtesy, and devotion. I am extremely grateful for their contributions and sacrifices.

I was in an engineering college in the early ’70s when the draft was still in place. As you can imagine, most of us students weren’t thrilled with the concept of being drafted. I had a very interesting demonstration in an economics class. At the time, $10K was a pretty reasonable starting salary for engineers.

The professor asked how many students wanted to join the Army for $5K/year. A few were already in ROTC and were already essentially in the Army and put their hands up. The professor raised the amount to $10K and more hands went up. $15K, more hands. $20K, more hands. By the time he got to $25K almost everyone in the class had their hands up.

The professor then commented that the Army could have all of the manpower it wanted *if it paid enough*. He said the draft was really about theft – the government is stealing the value of the draftee’s labor.

If the projects that we’re talking about having young people do that require a draft are worthwhile doing, then the price should be paid by everyone, not just a group that’s just unfortunate enough to be at a certain age.

By the way, women don’t have to register for the draft. If a man doesn’t register, then there are a bunch of sanctions. Time to fix that.

      • http://ahalbert@smart-technology.net Allan

Your professor wasn’t factoring in all the compensation. In addition to various discounted services military personnel get while serving, in exchange for three years of service they are eligible for four years of college tuition and fees plus a $1000/mo living expense stipend. That’s pretty decent compensation for three years of work at that age. The govt will also pay half of the difference between the most expensive state college tuition and a more expensive school of your choice.

    • airbornerescue1

THE DRAFT NEVER HURT ANYONE. KILLED A FEW, BUT DIDN’T HURT ANYTHING.

    • Harold Olsen

Vietnam was different. By then the idiots on the left wanted a “humane” war. I was in the First Air Cavalry Division, the First of the Eighth. We were not allowed to fire our weapons unless we had permission. Even if we were under direct attack, if we fired our weapons without permission we could be court martialed and even charged with murder if we killed any of the enemy. From what I hear on the news our people in Iraq and Afghanistan have it worse than that.

    • meteorlady

So we seem to be doing quite well with an all volunteer military. Why would we need a draft?

  • Steve

Personnally I would like to see everyone serve two years in the military before you earn the right to vote. Too many stupid people are allowed to vote. That’s how you get some idiot running the country.

    • DaveH

So you think the military makes people smarter? More like makes them dependent and more dangerous.

      • Don Tremaine

I served in the Navy during Vietnam. The treatment I received was what I deserved. With out this time I spent in the military I’m not sure I could have become the person I am today. The military, at least in the earlier years, taught self discipline, honor, self worth, how to endure hard times, and helps build a stronger character. I meet people all the time that need these thing but never got them from school, parents, life, or the workplace. As much as I hated the life, the lessons learned were invaluable. I believe that joining the Navy was the best mistake I ever made and I would recommend everyone to make that same mistake.

      • Pathfinder

        Well said Don!!

      • http://ahalbert@smart-technology.net Allan

I agree Don. It wasn’t until ten years later that I realized the value of the military. It taught me how to adapt to adverse conditions, to complete things I’d rather not do, and cooperate with people I wouldn’t have chosen as mentors or friends — in other words, to find out things I was capable of. I really appreciated my privileges and opportunities as an American when I got out. I feel a lot of liberals we hear from are people who never had to adapt, and who have developed a continuous sense of entitlement. During my service I was in some countries with mandatory military service. Soldiers did humanitarian and public projects, and here in the U.S. would receive a large college stiped. Is it more a form of slavery than high school is? Maybe it could be an option instead of grades 11 and 12. More than a few kids are unmotivated and simply biding their time during those years. Many cultures have initiation processes that help their young mature and involve service to society. I’m sure some would call it slavery regardless. Maybe we’ve been conditioned by liberals to think that doing anything we don’t want to is slavery.

      • DaveH

It is, if somebody else is forcing us to do it against our will.

      • DaveH

        From the legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com :
Slavery; the condition of an individual who works for another individual against his or her will as a result of force, coercion, or imprisonment, regardless of whether the individual is paid for the labor.

      • Recently Retired Veteran

The military cannot make you smarter, that is your choice. Military service offers endless higher education opportunities, if you choose to take advantage of it. It offers leadership training, if you choose it. It offers professional advancement, if you choose. It offers the opportunity to share a common experience with some of the finest individuals our country can produce. If you choose to serve, it will give you invaluable experience. And, in the end, you serve in defense of everyone’s freedom to choose. I’m fairly certain of the choice you made. Your welcome…

      • DaveH

I realized after reading my comment that it looks like I’m dissing soldiers. I’m not. It’s just been my experience that many of the people who join the services get used to being told what to do, and have a hard time in civilian life where they have to make their own decisions.

    • JC

Here’s some Military wisdom for ya!

“I am concerned for the security of our great Nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within.”

“Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear – kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor – with the cry of grave national emergency. ”

“It is part of the general pattern of misguided policy that our country is now geared to an arms economy which was bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and nurtured upon an incessant propaganda of fear.”

      ~ Douglas MacArthur

“My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of the higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military.”

“There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights.”

“War is a racket. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.”

“I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else.”

      ~ Gen. Smedley Butler USMC

“A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government.”
      ~ Thomas Jefferson

      • eddie47d

JC; “our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear” D.A. That fits Bush/Cheney to a tee.

      • JC

Take off the blinders eddie…it fits EVERYBODY.

      • TeresaE

Reagan had us afraid of drugs and alcohol and grandly increased the size of the government.

Clinton it was gangs and early terrorists, grandly increased the size again, while increasing Reagan’s buildup.

Bush used terrorism to go after a guy that shamed his daddy, and he managed to nearly double the size of the government if you include the MILLIONS employed as contractors in thousands of different government roles.

Obama is using “fairness” and “change” and keeps us in perpetual finger pointing while ONCE AGAIN increasing the government and their role into our lives and choices.

Save the children, whales, baby seals, wolves, forests, blah, blah, blah has created a massive government industry of catch, punish and suck money from us.

Wake up. It is US (non-government) vs THEM (ALL government reliant/paid minions).

Finger pointing serves to accomplish NOTHING, except darkening the blinders in your own “red v blue” diatribe.

      • JC

        Amen THAT!

      • Side Winder

        Wow..TeresaE
I really like what you are saying on this page….seems some people actually do get it.

TeresaE, good one, keep them coming.

Actually, Teresa, the “War on Drugs” was started under Richard Nixon.

eddie47d the federal goverment lets millions walk across are southern border and will do nothing to stop it, as per trying to stop arizona from enforcing there laws ,an uneducated mexican, will make a good uneducated liberal dembocrat, wonder are all the nice hard working famly loving illegals just comeing here for work and for you to pay for them to have kid, or could it be that some are not what obama and reid and pelosie and you liberal bleeding hearts try make us dumb uneducated american think

      • meteorlady

Don’t also forget that they will make up a large low cost labor pool for corporations which drives our wage scale down and we will end up working for lower and lower wages until we have reached the level of Mexico and other third world countries.

      • meteorlady

Edie – they are gone – they were no worse or better than most other presidents/vice president. Take off the rose colored glass and do some research.

    • Harold Olsen

Military service should be a requirement for anyone running for president. I don’t like the idea of being in the military and serving under some idiot who has no idea what it’s like to serve.

      • Amy Emerson

I agree that any president should have to serve their country in order for them to be “commander in cheif” of said military.

    • john

I read a science fiction story along the lines of mandatory service for two years. This service did not have to be in the military, it could be in any one of many community service type programs.
If you did not do the two year service you could not vote. Because you were not a full citizen. With the service you were.

    • http://msn Joe Melton

No one should be able to hold a job as Seantor, Congressperson Vice President, President, and his staff who has never serve our country in the Military. Also think this shpold apply to our state goverment also. If you don’t love Americab enough to serve it in the Military what make us think you love it enough to serve it in public office. All should have two years of Military servie as soon as they get out of high school. If you don’t serve you don’t vote. This is not salvery this is training.

      • Lewis Munn

I served in Teaching our youth in a technical school. I did my job too well, and was fired by the Union because the kids were getting too good an education.

Dunno about teaching, but I see the Unions have kinda taken over and are still tending to lop off the best so the poor workers do not look so bad.

So what does our Government want to to? Put in Unions everywhere, to keep our country under control and lop off the best so the sluggards don’t look so bad.

If you keep knocking off the good workers, and learners, pretty soon you have naught bet a fetid slough of slowing declining mediocrity.

And we are pushing to make Union Bosses the Rulers of our country??

  • http://twitter.com/doitathometoday Ken
  • Joe L.

Ever known anyone who had to do “community service”? That’s involuntary servitude. And slavery is supposed to be abolished? Re: Hitler’s “Youth Program, we have it here today in its entirety. It’s called the C.A.R.E Program, a literal translation from the German, and it’s taught in schools all over the nation. The hypocrisy is as thick as week old gelatin. Let’s see, what’s that statement about repeating history…

    • pennsyltuckian

Community service is for criminals to avoid going to jail. Are you really that stupid as to equate treatment of criminals to the average American. You must be a dimwit dumbocrat to make that comparison. Mandatory service is slavery pure and simple. Just because Obumbler’s idol der Fuhrer did it doesn’t make it right. Shall we call them the Obumbler Youth?

      • JC

Wow, did you ever read Joe wrong.

      • meteorlady

I don’t think you quite got what Joe said…..

  • Michael C

Can we get these clowns out before they do anymore damage. I’m retired AF and this is totally wrong.

    • http://drudge 2 sides

Michael, retired AF and you think a draft would be bad? Why, I didn’t retire from the military but I learned a good portion of what I am today there. Personnally I think that is what is missing from todays youth. You have the school boards telling your children ” you do not have to tell your parents anything, just tell us and we’ll help you. Your parents cannot touch you just tell us and we’ll help you”. Michael not just kids but the adults of today take no responsibility for anything, for instance no-fault auto insurence. Granted some people do not need to be exposed to the military but most do. It gives you a much better perspective of what you really have in this country and what it is your defending. I disagree with all of you.

      • JC

2 sides, the problems you pointed out have more to do with school board and other government policies. THAT is what needs to change.

“Forcing” people into the military seems like a furtherance to government issued mandates, issued priveleges. It makes us inventory, not sovereigns. When do our “rights” kick in?

      • TeresaE

        What rights?

We let those go years ago to protect us from drugs and prostitution.

Morality fueled government growth. Utter failure, but hey, now the government can lie to you, deceive you, entice you to break the law, then arrest and jail you for it. For nothing more than human nature and thousands of years of culture.

We traded rights for alleged safety. I tried warning people back in the early 80s about warrantless searches and entrapment and its eventual destruction of our freedoms. I was told, “if you’re not guilty, you have nothing to worry about.”

BS then, and how’s it working out for us? According to the jails and prisons full of non-violent, bs offenders, not very well.

      • JC

Exactly. You can not legislate morality…but you can control people with endless / senseless laws.

      • Ted Crawford

One of our Founders put it very well, I think, Teresa “Those who would trade Freedom for security, deserve neither”!

      • marvin

TeresaE a law is only good or bad if it is enforced take the federal immigration law, it gives states rights to help enforce it but only if the president wants it enforced as per arizona, now go rob a bank [federal bank law]city county state will all enforce that federal law, to me a criminal is a criminal reguardless be it speeding dui bank robber or illegal alien, the federal law sez a documented alien must have papers with them at all times but not in arizona acording to holder, most states have a road block law were they stop ever vehical and ask for proper papers ins card dri lic auto reg ,but arazona can not do thie it is profiling it may disrupt some poor undocumented and heaven forbid we piss off a hispanic it ok if your white or black but no mexicans like the illegal they interviewed on tv been here 9 year was afraid he would be deported, but after 9 years still speaking in spanish great american really wants to be an american,no one is above the law not reid not rangel not pelosie and not obama the laws are suppost to be for all not just us law abiding citizens, but what do i know most of my famly were here befor the white man

      • Side Winder

        You are right on Theresa.

And for once…JC…I actually agree with you.

      • DaveH

If you believe as I do, that Government has no business protecting people from themselves, Vote Libertarian:
        http://libertarianparty.org/platform

      • Eagle

2 Sides, I am retired Army, and what you said about the military being good for those who have not had discipline in their lives, may be true for some; but the military should not be used for correcting the attitudes of the irresponsible.

I had to deal with many of those who you describe, and most of them were a detriment to the mission at hand, as there attitudes carried over into their job performance.

The military men and women that I come in contact with today, are a far cry from the average soldier that I dealt with in South East Asia in the 70s; they are much more professional, and have a higher level of dedication, as well as respect for each other.

I do not want to see a draft instituted that I know will make our Armed Forces less efficient than they are; but I recognize that the Marxist element in the US would love to see that happen.

  • Viktor Leben

Hitler did the same thing. Herr Hitler sent young people from the cities to help the farmers. They cleared alot of land ! They helped the farmers ! The young people got physically fit ! Later on those young people joined the German military … the rest is history !

Great idea ! Just what we need …. Heil Obama !!!

    • TIME

      Viktor,

Thats 100% dead on they were called the RAD, but first there was the DJ, German Youth, then the HJ the Hitler Youth.
Oddly enough when German Officers were questioned after WW II the only ones that they had any fear of were the Youth that had gone to NPEA schools, National Political Education Schools.
Same gig differant uniform as old Charlies plan.

Oh but what wait Stalin also did a like project called “Youth to Serve,” this special gang of unemployed youth had the power of life and death over all people in Russia.
All they had to do was report that someone was NOT a good little Marxist, and BAM it was off to a camp for them.

Then think back to the special times after Friday the 13th that King Philip the fair of France had brought about. Is it not strange the same name pop up way back then; the Rothschilds who were granted the Knights Templars banking system from King Philip and how strange is it that they are still in the banking biz, oh wait they own the WORLD BANKING SYSTEM, and our FED, who would have ever thought.
These are also the same people who George Soros works for now you know the guy with Mover over.org and all his other special units, that got Barry Soetoro elected too! WOW – do we ever learn or are we just doomed to spin in the same cycle for ever.

I have to question if the human race is ever going to get smarter..

When you have a lump of coal to sell as a golden egg, the best method of doing so is to make that lump of coal look really good to the completely ignorant members of the society, and you can have a PHd and still be as dumb as a box of rocks, as a matter of fact 90% are.

Just tell these persons its special coal with Great Power and is far better than Gold and they will be “paid” for thier service and that will be very good as there are NO JOBS for them keep in mind that the number of young folks with out work in the USA now is well over 45%. In Germany in the 1930′s that number was just 51% how close are we now here in the USA – Oh the class of 2011 will put us right over that number.
And notice that Barry Soetoro has not been able to show a stable government to anyone who owns a business, thus ZERO JOB growth,
      WOW how strange is that?

So what better way to completely take down any country than have the YOUTH learn to HATE anyone who has something more then they have.

      Its the Great equalizer.

Don’t you just love Barry Soetoro the media, Geroge Soros and his boss’s? Oh hell its just like old times sitting around the fire burning Witches.

      • TeresaE

Time, your words tell of sad days in our human history. Yes, there are plenty more, but these all mark the beginnings of something that smells evil.

Shame most Americans get their history lessons from the tv, or 30 second newspaper articles.

Things just keep getting worse, laws keep crushing and no one is safe of this coming future.

We could stop it if we collectively teach our children to THINK, quit asking the government to help/protect us and pull ourselves away from our 24/7 entertainment lifestyle.

I can do what I can, but sadly, I know most won’t do a damn thing to stop it.

Just like history has shown us.

      • poppaman

Althogh of a milder political bent than most of the posters here, much of what is said does make sense. I too oppose “Mandatory National Service”: I’m old enough to remember the riots in Chicago and Washington, but young enough to have escaped the draft during the Vietnam era.

Compulsory National Service is indeed slavery: what’s to stop the powers that be (whether McCain, Obama, Palin or ????? from issueing a “stop loss” order and extending the servitude indefinately? When my grandparents fled Czarist and later Boleshivik Russia at the turn of the last century, it’s exactly this type of compulsory service they were escaping (as described by both my late grandfathers). Look what happened to Russia (aka the USSR).

While manuy of the beliefs stated in theis forum are a bit too far to the right for my liking, I do agree that the concept of and definition of Liberty and Freedom has been and continues to be eroded/changed/re-defined and not for the better. This is a process which did NOT start with Mr. Obama: it didn’t start with “Dubya” or Clinton either – this goes way way back to Kennedy/Johnson/Nixon days nad has not stopped despite “changes” in the leadership of the government.

      • Side Winder

Thank you poppaman for your contribution.

You are correct..it didn’t start with Obama or Dumbya…
Its started long ago and does not play favorites to either of the 2 parties who serve 1 government. The parties are one in the same. They are Washington.

We all know the Draft promotes a bad attitude within the military. I believe this to be a passing phase…I wouldn’t get too concerned about it. Obama is full of lofty ideas…but his trademark is, nothing takes root.

        He’s a Jimmy Carter.

      • Ted Crawford

True Time,! We might also remember April 17, 1975! Soloth Sar, AKA: Pol Pot, took control of Cambodia with just such an army! The Khmar Rouge were an army of teenagers! They were given total control over all adults, who were either killed outright or sent to work camps and worked to death!
In what I call an interesting aside, Why do all these left-wing despots feel the need to change their names?
        Soloth Sar, AKA: Pol Pot
loseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili (Georgian), losif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili (Russian) AKA: Joseph Stalin

All they had to do was report that someone was NOT a good little Marxist, and BAM it was off to a camp for them.”

This sounds a little like our own InfraGuard…here in the US, post Bush/911 era.

A massive spy apparatus of “Concerned Citizens” who report local activities to the Federal government. Many involved are business leaders, who will report attitudes and opinions of employees to the Fed, all in the name of enhanced “Security.” Nothing like being afraid to speak your mind. And this creates a situation that is ripe for abuse.

This spy apparatus is massive, and for the most part remains hidden from view, but I can assure you, its in place and working.

It was fascism there in Germany, and its a form of Fascism here now, in the US.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

TIME, I think a better idea would be, along with a volunteer army, to require that every civilian adult male aged 18-40 be issued M16A4 rifles with 30-round magazines and 1000 rounds of M109 ammo and would be required to spend 1 day a month learning how to safely operate and shoot it. To be used only in case of a national emergency or an attack on US soil. Toss in the M9 for good measure.
There could be some special exemptions based on certain beliefs which would need to be pre-determined.

      • TIME

        Hi Jeff,

I wouldn’t have an issue with that system, it could even be expaned. I do feel that everyone should know how to use a GUN, the better folks understand a gun and what they can do it would have a solid impact on all Crime.

I also think that every American kid should be made to go to a country where the standard of living is based on a $900.00 per year earning cap. Why?
So that the spolied rotten kids here in the USA can see just what it’s really like to live in conditions that you would never even allow a dog to live in.
** I strongly feel that this would stop all the class wars that have been going on here in the USA for years, created by “Politicians.”
        {See my last few statments noted **}

I also feel that the criminals in Congress and the Senate should be exposed to the same treatment as anyone else in this country.
That way thier behavior of thinking they are the ruling class would stop in a nano second. I added this as we are on a Charlie issue; if any of you did what he has done, you would be fined crazy amounts of money, as well spend many years in jail.

From the countless post from many brain dead twinkies here that seem to glorify these criminals as Demi Gods through stupid stubborn ignorance of party affiliations they need to be exposed to the truths that the scum in DC is nothing less than the same scum found in prisons all over the world.
And did I note that to use a name thats not you own, is a Federal crime, think Barry Soetoro.

Afterall the population follows its leaders behavior, so if the leaders are that blantant in their criminal behavior what type of behavior can we really expect out of its citizens.
Think about it folks? I mean really think about that and drop the BS pose of the we won BS. We have not won, we have lost!
A criminal is a criminal no matter what label you give them.

As well I strongly feel that before any kid gets their High School Diploma they should spend 100 hours picking up road side trash, so as to understand that being a pig is just that.

They should also have to take a class in understanding money, banking, saving money, and buying power, and budgets.

They should also be required to take business class’s so they can grasp that all business no matter what size have limits to what they can do.
A class in Common sense should be taken as well, plus a class in proper behavior towards others and their property. “RESPECT.”

All these class’s will be far better than the crap they teach, where History class’s now teach that World War II was won by the “United Nations.”
Or that science is rock soild fact, when in fact 85% of all science is nothing less than opinions based on outlandish theories from EGG HEADS with frail egos.

I also think that each kid should know all the words for the Pledge to the Flag of their nation. In plain words they should understand RESPECT, ** “with out RESPECT, there can never be TRUE FREEDOM.”

**Understand your special Gifts that God gave you, as the next person may not have your Gifts, and so the thick headed grasp this a simple example.
I can play 7 instruments, I have never had a single leason. I play by whats called a Natural ear and perfect pitch.
Yet in math I suck, my wife is great at Math and yet she can’t play any instruments.
I also have 20/8 vision I am 60 years old I have never worn glass’s, yet my wife can’t see with out glass’s and has been that way forever.

These are the base reasons that Socialism fails, we are not all equal in all respects.

We are only equal on the base that no matter what skin color or race, we are all HUMAN. Thats its folks plain and simple.

We don’t need to spy on our neighbors, we need to help our neighbors when they need help and do it with a smile.

We don’t need to draf our kids, as we don’t need to have wars to impose our will on others.

We need to stand as a United force for GOOD in the world, or what we as a nation started out to be, that is before the Progressive’s and “World Bankers” got into our lifes by way of the POLITICIANS.

Nothing of value is FREE, and Nothing is ever really FREE. There is always a Cost.

      • Al Sieber

Time, damn good post. I see you’re the same age as me, I pretty much raised my kids like you said in your post.

      • JeffH

TIME, thanks for a very good post. I’m 60 also and was most certainly raised without a silver spoon and learned early about respect and values and that I had to work hard to achieve the “material” items I needed and enjoyed. Raised outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping…respect the land and landowners and respect the natural resources, and most of all give respect to get respect.

      • Ida Red

Switzerland’s method is every males servers in the military and upon the completion of service he keeps his issued rifle and is expected to keep it with ammo for the defense of their country. Also the crime rate is very low there as almost every home has a gun.

      • Lewis Munn

The Swiss example for civil order is very good…but hard to find praise for it over here. And too, they have a pride for their country because they are trained that way and learn their history well.

But I have noted that certain philosophies popular here with many leaders are just the opposite of what really works. We no longer teach our great History, we downgrade it. We no long build up our great leaders, we tear them down. We run after every strange religion and then pride ourselves in how much good we do not do! We put people onto the Supreme Count of the land who cannot seem to recall if they wrote a note or not, but think the handwriting might be familiar!! Does a person who does not know what they have said really belong on the highest court of our land?

        Subject; Fourth Branch of Government

Most US Citizens know, that; The Federal Reserve Board, dictates the creation of United States Currency, and manages the US monetary policy.
The Federal Reserve Board is operated by seven governors and a chairman; it is a private, non government enterprise. Reference The Treasures of Zion.
The Federal Reserve Board is not a US Government function – it is not a duly Elected Government body of Seven Governors and a Chairman. Therefore, it is in the position of a private, unconstitutional Fourth Branch of Government. The US Constitution clearly states, that America has “Three Branches of Government – not Four!
(The executive, the legislative and the Judicial)
As/per the US constitution, only the Congress can create currency, and this authority can not’ be delegated. The Federal Reserve Board charges a fluctuating prime rate of interest for imaginary loans to the US Treasury, without investing a single solitary penny of their own.
Under the sixteenth amendment of our constitution (which was passed by Congress on the 23rd of December 1913 while opposing congressmen were away for the Holidays – US Presidential candidates can now borrow money for their individual presidential Campaigns. Also; since 1913 US citizens must pay taxes on their income.

        It is my understanding, that – this is how it is done;
When our Government runs out of money – The Congressional Budget Committee decides to ask the Federal Reserve Board, for a specified amount of money. ( there is no transaction of real money or anything of value)
The Federal Reserve Board authorizes the funds by writing an “un cashable check” to the US Treasury. The US Mint, prints “Federal Reserve Note” dollars (Fiat paper Money) to cover the un cashable check. That is why US dollars say; “Federal Reserve note”. (not backed by Silver (or) Gold )
Then the “Federal Reserve Board” collects the “Prime Rate of Interest” that we have to pay, (in income taxes) for the use of our own sovereign currency.
That is why Americans have to work sixteen hour work days – Just to make ends meet.
The US Mint should print “sovereign US dollars” that would not have to pay “The Prime Rate Interest”. Our own’ sovereign currency, “should not be authorized” and created by The non govt. Federal Reserve Board. It is unconstitutional.
The Federal Reserve Board, “could be paid” for financial advice and management services only – they “should not” collect ”Prime Rate Interest” for the use of “our own” US sovereign currency.
Prohibited by the US constitution – “Fiat paper money” is not backed by Silver and Gold Reserves.
The Federal Reserve Board is managed by Seven governors and a chairman – Alan Greenspan now replaced by Mr. Bernanke. As per Judaism, they are (the Seven Governors the Seven Spirits, the (Seven Stars) the Angels of the Seven Churches, the Seven Stars in the constellation of “Orion.”
Revelations chapter 1 verse 20 says; The Seven Stars (of Orion) are the Angels of the Seven churches. The FED has it’s own Inspector General – totally removed from our bonified Justice system. The Federal Reserve Board and the “Twelve” “Federal Reserve Banks” are “private” non goverment institutions.
Totally “unconstitutional” – they function, as an illegal “Fourth Branch” of the United States Government. (As they say; What fools these mortals be) End
        Contribution by Jonathan

JFK signed an Executive Order (I believe it’s 11110) which would have made it illegal for the government to borrow money from the Federal Reserve. That would have effectively put them out of business. Just 5 days later JFK was dead (not promoting conspiracy). When LBJ took over he never enforced that EO and to this day I believe it has remained because no one want to bring it to light in order to repeal it.

Maybe if we translate, slavery is a bit too harsh. It’s not as though Uncle Scam owns us – yet. Uncle Scam’s growing powers have eclipsed our right to be free, but it doesn’t mean the old fart doesn’t love us. It’s just that the old sunny beach of a miserable bastard doesn’t have any tact.
He thinks he can do whatever he wants whenever the mood strikes. Now, if they’d do it right, they’d extend the upper age bracket up to 65, and Uncle Scam could technically put lots of people back to work.
All together now, praise be to Overlord Rangel and to his boss. They know what’s best for America, so let’s get in line and bow to the master – slave master, that is. Get your chains right here. Line up, folks.

      sc,
Just think, if they did that the next pres could draft Nobama!!! It would almost be worth it to see him in combat!!! Almost!!! Imagine, PVT Nobama!! HAHAHAHA!!!!

      • s c

That’s not a bad idea, Joe H. If we have to endure Herr Obummer’s redistribution of wealth scam, then it’s perfectly logical to redistribute the misery at the same time (we must be ‘equal’).
Anybody know if new recruits still do KP and clean toilets? I’d like to think that certain jobs that act like ‘equalizers’ are still a part of the military. It’s entirely possible that a Haavid education and community organizing skills could result in spectacularly clean dining halls and toilets.

        Draft Obama?
        He’d get out of it.
        Foregin nationals can’t be drafted…
        ROTFL

      • Harold Olsen

Actually, they can. Or, at least, back in the sixties when I went into the army, they could. If they lived in this country and were of draft age they had to register and could get drafted. The only way they could get out of being drafted was to go back home to whatever country they came from. Many foreign nationals went in because it was a quicker means to citizenship. If you joined the military, you could become a citizen. I used to have a supervisor. He was from Canada and was drafted and went in because he wanted to become a U. S. citizen. He served in Vietnam and spent 28 years in the U. S. Army, coming out as a Command Sergeant-Major.

OBAMA WOULD RUN AND HIDE AT THE FIRST SHOT.

      • Another Donald

Won’t happen. They can’t draft foreigners.

      • Bob from Socal

Thats not a bad idea. If you remember, Elvis did his patriotic duty when called upon by the good uncle. Thinking of Elvis reminds me of a phrase that I would like to hear: “Obama has left the building”.

      Hey Bob Livingston…
This is off topic but pertains to this month’s issue of the Bob Livingston Letter…

      You stated:
“The vaccine Gardasil, prescribed to prevent cervical cancer in young girls and women, is as ludicrous as it gets. But wait, it’s approved for boys too, even without female organs! The propaganda says it prevents genital warts which are as rare as the Black Death.”

While I am not advocating vaccines….The idea in vaccinating boys as well as girls is to prevent the spread if the virus. There are a couple of strains of HPV that cause cancer.
And for the record…its not as rare as the Black Death….in fact HPV is quite common.

This is taken directly from the CDS’s site http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv.htm

Genital human papillomavirus (also called HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). There are more than 40 HPV types that can infect the genital areas of males and females. These HPV types can also infect the mouth and throat. Most people who become infected with HPV do not even know they have it.

HPV is not the same as herpes or HIV (the virus that causes AIDS). These are all viruses that can be passed on during sex, but they cause different symptoms and health problems. Other HPV types can cause cervical cancer. These types can also cause other, less common but serious cancers, including cancers of the vulva, vagina, penis, anus, and head and neck (tongue, tonsils and throat).

So whether or not the vaccine is actually effective….HPV can cause cancer in both males and females. And HPV is the MOST common STP…not as rare as the Black Death.

Maybe Charlie is too busy with his stealing lying and other criminal actions to understand: “We have an all volunteer Military. We do not select by Race, Color, or Creed who enters or dies for our country. I served20 1/82 years and I would still give my life for my country!

hahahahaha. that is a very funny way to address this. The prez has gone mad, or maybe he always was. His cohorts are leaning so far to the left that they are in danger of falling over. This country needs to be give back to the people. Barack Obama is NOT for the American people. I bet the voters who thought he was the second coming are ruing the day!. God help us all. Because HE is the only one who can. We are too lambish to help ourselves

    • http://Draft Rev. Jim RObins

I served in the military during the last draft that this country had. Though I was not drafted, I volunteered and remained in the service for over 32 years of service. What is being proposed is nothing short of a dictatorship. Here is a reminder. The Constitution gives Congress the power to make law, not the Judicial Branch nor the Executive Branch. This administration has violated the Constitution over and over, and continues to violate it. We must replace those in Congress that seek to under mine the Constitution, including the President. So it dosen’t suprise me that Obama is trying to form his own private army.

Walter E Williams had an interesting quote in his column today by Booker T Washington. “There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.” When this was stated by Mr Washington, I have no idea, but it certainly seems to apply to many of the ideas of today.

I think by now most Americans see Jesse, Al and the Rev Wright types for what they are. Opportunists and money makers. Exactly where does Jesse have a church? What about Al, where does he find the time to show up for every little thing that is covered by the new media. As for Rev Wright – he is a racist bigot and should be shown more for what he is.

They all make a living and gain notoriety and power by keeping the race card in play.
