Mitt Romney Raises Most Money For 2012 Run, Sarah Palin Lags BehindEarlier this year former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney won a series of straw polls for the most popular would-be GOP presidential candidate in 2012, and he seems to continue to build momentum with successful fundraising efforts.

During the second quarter of 2010, Romney raised $1.8 million, well ahead of other contenders for the ticket, for a total of $3.4 million since the beginning of the year, according to media reports.

By contrast, his closest rival Tim Pawlenty, the governor of Minnesota, managed just over $720,000 in the most recent quarter, and $1.3 million in 2010 thus far, Minneapolis City Pages reported.

However, the real question on many commentators’ minds seems to be the fundraising performance of Sarah Palin, whose favorability ratings among likely GOP voters are the highest for all contenders at 76 percent, according to a new Gallup poll.

Even the controversial Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann raised more—$1.7 million to Palin’s $865,000 in the second quarter—prompting National Post contributor Tim Mak to ask “why isn’t Palin, a national figure with more media coverage than Bachmann, at least keeping pace?”ADNFCR-1961-ID-19897280-ADNFCR

    I would love to see Sarah Palin become a Senator from Alaska. I would love to see a Conservative President elected over Obama. A full investigation of the Obama administration is in order covering the many issues which Obama has cover up, and actual legal actions taken against any dishonest and illegal activities and actions performed during that administration. Those Democrates forced to retire because of the voters, if implicated and convicted, should loos all Federal Retirement Benefits as part of any punishment. I have never been so disgusted by any administration, as I have been by this one. It is not merely an matter of disagreement, It is a matter of the dishonesty and lack of integrity of this administration. An anti-American White House and Senatorial and Congressional leaders is appalling! They have betrayed their sacred oaths and the citizens of this Nation. The Country has been severly damaged by this administration and those who have gone along with it. No excuse is possible for such a lack of integrity.

    I read posts that say the Republicans need a fresh new face. Then I read articles about Mitt and Newt and all I see is more of the samo-lamo. They need to find a conservative who stands FOR the constitution and spring him or her on us at the last minute so the DNC smear machine doesn’t have time to go to work on them. Don’t worry that we won’t know anything about them because it really didn’t seem to matter in 08. We should find someone with a common name, Jim, Mike, Sue, not a Newt, or Mitt or Barrak.

I may not be a fan of Romney and won’t vote for him if he is the Republican candidate, but no one can be as bad as Obama. Compared to Obama, even Jimmy Carter was good president, and you don’t know how much it turns my stomach to say that. Yecch!!

    at present we have a democratic party in full power attempting to bring this country into a communist state and doing a good job of it, they control the media, education system and the executive branch. the country is in an absolute freefall to communism. we still have whats left of the republican party, mainly rinos, and we would be so stupid as nominate a empty suit rino like romney??huckabee and even tho i like newt he has turned into a rino. sarah palin is the only one out there that has the courage and the determination to fight the commies and bring our republic back to its stature. i have always fought against a woman ruling the country, however, i don’t see any one out there with better credentials. why do you think the comminist media constantly critize’s her, they fear her thats why.
    she may not have the military experience, but, i’ll bet she knows what end the bullet comes out of the rifle, has anyone asked romney??

        The reason why Democrats, and many Republicans, hate Sarah Palin is because she is a conservative woman but, most of all, she is a truly independent woman, and that scares them. She is what the so-called feminist movement is all about. But, feminists hate her as well, because they can’t control her. The feminist organizations tell their members what they can say and how they can act. Feminists are not independent women, though they claim to be. They can’t control Palin so they don’t like her and they vilify her, yet, they deify people like Hillary Clinton who only got where she is because of her husband. If not for him she’d be back in Arkansas baking cookies or something, whereas, Palin got where she is on her own merit without the help of any man. For that reason alone I admire her and would be willing to vote for her. She is intelligent as well, though people call her stupid because, among other things, she made some notes on her hand as reminders of what she wanted to say in her speech, which she gave off the cuff. Obama, on the other hand, is so stupid that he has to have his speeches written out and put on a teleprompter so he can read them and if the teleprompter breaks down, he’s screwed. He can’t continue with his speech because he has no idea what he had planned to say. And, he is unable to pronounce the words properly even though he is reading them.

        YES Sarah … moral compass and focused on doing the right thing … determined even if the habit of handwriting helps make it happen. I think we all agree that leaders rise to the occasion. Sarah has not said she is a candidate but it looks to me like she is being set apart for a high calling … as on a basketball team … there is a natural order and a leader is not appointed as much as that automatically rise to authority. Just think about what happens when a crisis happens in your family … isn’t there a natural leader who takes charge to get things done? That’s Sarah … read her book for more details.

    There is much work to do. This next election and the one in 2012 are perhaps the most important and critical in our history.
    The presidency is most important because he/she selects nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court. This court has had more to do with our turn away from the Constitution and Bill of Rights than Congress or the executive branch.
    For the people and states to reclaim the powers given by our Founding Documents we must have U.S. Justices who are willing to overturn 220 yrs. of unconstitutional precedents. We need a President and Congress who are committed to a United States (federal) government (all 3 branches) explicitly restricted in it’s power by our Bill of Rights. This candidate needs to be a courageous, highly intellegent, highly moral, completely dedicated patriot. A person with absolutely no personal political ambition.
    Is there a candidate for President of the USA who has the courage of Audie Murphy, the morality and honesty of George Washington, the intellect of Thomas Jefferson and the tenacity and oratory skills of Patrick Henry ? I believe there is ! When we find this person or they find us we will have a chance to stop the current madness and take our country back. Perhaps a person with a military background might afford all the attributes required.
    I don’t claim to know this person’s identity at this time but if we search this great country with the correct criteria I am absolutely positive we will find that person. Next, we will need to support, protect and elect.

        I have only one thing against Palin: She is supporting McCain in his bid for re-election. That makes me question whether or not she is a true conservative. I find it hard to believe a true conservative could support a RINO like him who only acts like a conservative when he is up for re-election. I especially can’t understand why she supports him after the way he and his campaign treated her when she was his running mate. The way McCain campaigned in 2008 makes me believe that not only is a a liberal pretending to be a conservative but that he is in reality a closet Democrat.

    Romney…No, I don’t think so. Lets recap Romneycare/Obamacare…one word Failure! Perhaps the worst thing about it is that Romney defends his failure as much as Obama does his. Romney is a big government, big spender.

    Palin…No, I don’t think so. She has a lot of good ideas and is on the right track, but she is simply not any more qualified for the position than Obama.

    Gingrich…No, I don’t think so. We have far too many free spenders in Washington already.

    Ron Paul…maybe. Liberterian on a Federal level may actually help restore State rights to the point that States can actually legislate according to their individuals needs and desires without Federal intervention.

    Jim Demint…wow. However, I am not sure that he is considering running at this point.

    Mitt Romney wants to be president. And at this point, he’s stuck with the Republican party as the vehicle. And that means he’s going to have to run against ObamaCare. That’s awkward, though, because Romney presided over the creation of Massachusetts’ health care overhaul, which served as the model for ObamaCare. This is going to be fun watch.

      I haven’t heard Romney slam TARP. The bill was necessary to keep the financial system from complete collapse. I have heard him say that it was administered wrong, which of course it was.

    Mitt Romney was the Gov. of my State of Massachusetts. He implemented an insurance health care scheme wherein which if you didn’t purchase a health insurance policy you would be fined by the state. Hmmm! Not the kind of “Conservative” I know about and want. The question is, will he continue with the Obama Care or implement a new health insurance policy as president? Or will he have the balls to stand up to Democraps and repeal everything the illegal alien Obama has passes? I would rather prefer a real “Conservative” like Fred Thompson over Romney.

        Fred Thompson won’t run again. He’s too smart for that. I voted for him in the primary in 2008. It’s a shame. I consider him the last true statesman to have served in either house of Congress. To clarify what I mean: the difference between a politician and a statesman is a politician wants whatever he can get that best for himself; a statesman wants whatever he can get that is best for the country. These days, all we have are a bunch of politicians.

      Don’t go by what the left says. I read something the other day that the one presidential candidate that they most fear is Jeb Bush. I get the feeling that they hope Jeb Bush will be the Republican candidate so they can use his brother’s record against him and get an easy win in 2012. He has outlined his position in great detail in his book, “No Apology”, you dont have to listen to the hype, read the book. He is a Brilliant business man with a desire to see America return to the position of leadership that it should be in. America’s destiny is to lead the world. We need to pick leaders who believe in our destiny.

    When do we finally learn that money has nothing to do with leadership? If it was that simple (money raised = quality leadership), life would make sense and political hacks would be working as dog catchers or for non-profits.
    Because MONEY is so important to political parties, responsible citizens need to realize that the ‘good
    old days’ [pre-1850] were better than the three-ring circuses that pass for politics today. Back then, candidates had to tour the countryside without the benefits of mass media, and they had to wow voters with what they said IN PERSON.
    When you consider what has happened to America since the advent of mass media, ‘touring’ via radio would net better candidates. TV is too much Hollywood hype and science fiction to let voters know what they need to know to sort hacks from quality candidates.
    Because parties give us what THEY want, we probably couldn’t do any worse if we voted for Peter Pan or Mary Poppins. At least they’re household names, and they’ve got established reputations – and, they’re not community organizers or career politicians who should have been imprisoned years ago.
